Setting

Illumene is the pinnacle of technological advancements in the Gaelian system, but with safety and prosperity comes government control and regulations. With a city that prides itself on its extensive security networks, retinal scans, and surveillance, crime is kept at a relatively low rate.

Those who care not for living under the heel over their government frequently make use of what have become dubbed as 'blackout zones'. Criminal activity is most prevalent within these ares of the city due to their characterized lack of surveillance. These locations range from alleyways to old abandoned buildings to illegal haunts and unsanctioned clubs.

Loitering within Blackout Zones is strictly prohibited and grounds for immediate arrest and seventy-two hours jail time - regardless of whether criminal activity was present. Many blackzones have been walled off and trespassing in these areas is strictly forbidden and grounds for the same enforcement.

"It's alright," Lance sighed as he closed his eyes, letting go of tension building up inside him, "I'm just stressed, I guess."

It hadn't been easy going for him. He hadn't slept in a pretty long while and that was starting to catch up with him. The rest he'd taken actually did more to make him feel lethargic than it did to restore his energy, which compiled onto his growing list of things to take care of. He still had no idea where to find this princess he was supposed to locate for a cause he didn't quite adopt as his own. Which led to the other concerns on his plate...the problems he had to take care of back home.

The problems he was running away from.

"I guess I should apologize myself," he admitted, rubbing the back of his head as he glanced around at the varying market items, "I'm looking for someone who's supposed to be around here somewhere. I don't know what she looks like or anything about them other than she is female and wears a piece of Dragon Egg somewhere on her body. I mean, I've never seen a Dragon Egg, so I have no idea what I'm looking for, but I was told I'd know when I saw it."

He kept a wary eye around the Blackout Zone, making sure he stayed out of any sketchy areas, which there were a lot of.

[b]“Damn, well shit, I ain’t helping you with dragon eggs, never even seen one myself” he stretched and glanced about also, Zion felt the back of his neck as he twisted his head to the side, his neck cracking.

He’d release a weak pulse of telekinetic energy again, the pulse harmlessly bouncing back upon hitting anything, the benefit of the pulses were that Zion acted like a radar and any threat would easily be picked up upon, he put his hands into the pockets of his long coat and looked about.

“Like looking for a needle in a haystack, as the saying goes” he chuckled again “lovely…” the sarcasm drooled from his expression and his words.

Groups of people wandered about the markets that packed the underground caverns, Among them were groups of soldiers, the men dressed alike in black robes and hooded with armored collars went in groups of five along the many streets, if one could call them that. Some headed past Lance and Zion without a second thought. never really looking at them as they aptrolled. They had a otherwordly exotica feel to them in thier outfits. Were they armed ?

Yup

Were they stupid to try and hunt down a dragon princess ?

Yup

A group of them found Lizzy, and briefly traded words before she struck, kicking out hard and fast she sent the leader of the gorup sailing out of the easting establishment in a heap As the others swarmed her, Easily grabbing one by the uplifted foot aiming to kick her she span him onto his back and used his foot as leverage and kicked twice while spinning before bringing her knee down on the man she had brought to his back on the floor.

Four down one to go.

the last guy tried to take a swing at her, she blocked, he swong again, she blocked again, her back to him both times before he tried to stab at her head, she ducked backwards and smacked away his sword before nailing him briefly in the nose, grabbing him by the neck she span him around as she herself sdpun to face him, dropping to one knee in full view of both Lance and Zion she nailed the guy dead in the chest with three fingers with his spine directly on her left knee. he folded like a chair to the ground. None of the men were dead, but they were out of the fight.

Lizzy dusted off her hands, grumbling something. Though two words were heard clearly by Lance, "Dragon hunters"

Lance was about to respond with something along the lines of, "Have a little optimism," when a scuffle broke out on his immediate right. As he whirled around, he caught a glimpse of the lady who had paid for their meal, who was not giving such a courtesy to the hooded man she was fighting against. Rather, she was promptly kicking the man to Kaos and back. The Guardian took a step forward, reaching for his undrawn Haven Sword as he aimed to help the lady.

He stopped when he saw that no help was required, especially when she finger jabbed the man in chest and promptly turned his lower spine vertebrae into powder as he watched the attacker collapse. For a moment, no one moved. Lance's hand remained gripped to the hilt of the sword and when he saw no one else in the area, he finally let go.

The lady muttered something within earshot of the Guardian, and he could hardly believe his ears. She was the one he was looking for. She had to be. He could only describe it as either fate or fortunate chance that they had crossed paths in the first place, and even then he had missed the opportunity. He cursed inwardly as his lack of awareness in the diner.

However, he didn't express his own frustrations. He simply ran forward and dropped a single name: "Elizabeth?"

Zion watched from the sidelines, his black metal slates all floating around him, as the last of them drew out around him from the pouch on his belt, he had stepped up alongside Lance, but stopped to watch the carnage this young woman would cause.

With a whistle he claps applauding though stops, noticing Lance seemed to recognise her. “Lance, damn it man, I said you should have talked to her...and that was easier than expected” he had a cheeky grin again but he hastily changed his expression. “though right now that’s besides the point, if there’s these lot, there’s more and we need to move, I can not go full telekinetic badass here, I’d only cause a collapse of the tunnels if i’m too vicious with the use of my Telekinetics.”

He thought carefully listening out, he’d step over to one of these cloaked men and pat him down checking for anything useful as to their identities or purpose, beyond harming a young woman. Apart from clothing armour and weapons. (stuff he’d find on these guys, please)

“we can guess they operate in teams of this size on the small end and larger groups for more dangerous threats” he thought carefully, it wasn’t the first time he had dealt with hit squads, he wasn’t the most liked Darksider operative in Academy city after all.

As Lance spoke her name, a voice she didnt recognise, she turned, in a swift movement she drew from her chest, just under her breastbone, something of magic as it formed into a glass blade that frosted like ice as she pointed it to him, the ornate blade had steam eafting off it in the cool air of the underground caverns. A pace or so out of reach of Lance she stared at him,. Her dark pink eyes glittering brightly as she didnt recognise him. "Who are you ? How do you know my name ? who sent you ?? Are you a Hunter like the others ?" She asked him

As Zion began searching the five men who were still alive just out of the fight and quite possibly couldnt walk again due to the body damage he'd find the typical money pouches, patrol route orders and basic weapons and gear for a ancient almost asian set up of a place, it felt like a period drama of a sort given the caverns were stone and wood and there was little if any electrical power.

One of the orders though had a empazoned stuylised red cross upon it. The Templar symbol if one knew it. Another had a symbol with three letters, runes actually forming a single word, TDW TheDragonWatch the symbol of which was a black drawn dragon upon pale pink parchment paper, with the runes inscribed over it.

One of the men tried to get up and she simply flocked her foot, which Lance then saw was waering something akin to asian styled soft soled sandals that revealed fair beautiful skin like her hands and face. Her dark blonde hair was long, held from her face by a hairband of pale gold with what looked like shards of pearls or something melted to the metal, she also had a golden necklace with the same shards on it.

But the fact she drew her sword from her body....

The tip of her blade seemed to permeate an icy wind against the Guardian's neck as he blinked at the sudden movement. She was already proven to be a bad ass, given by how she took down those who were hunting her. He had to figure due to her heritage and the kind of people she came from, she was well trained magically. She had all the advantages here. And he had decided to waltz up and ask for her name with nary a second thought as to what the consequences of that would be.

In hindsight, Lance should've seen this coming.

He never stammered, nor did he show fear. But he did take a small step back as he replied, "I am Lance DeBrinn. You've never met me, but I have met your aunt...Kanwar. She sent me to find you."

He took a glance back towards Zion and held out a hand towards any action he might proceed to take in this instance. He wasn't sure how he'd react to seeing a blade pointed towards his neck and whether or not he'd strike first and ask questions later. No need for things to get complicated.

Zion quickly glanced up to the two of them holding up the patrol orders “we have their orders and patrol routes…oh is this a bad time?” He chuckled nervously, he was quick, though he suspected he wasn’t quick enough to stop that blade from liberating Lance’s head from his body, if things went south.

Zion stood up and stretched the parchments floating next to him as he stretched, being rather nonchalant about the fact Lance had a sword pointed in his face, the black metal slates began to shift closing together and interlocking with each other, creating the shield as he did a couple hours before. “might I suggest we skip pleasantries and get out of here. Before anymore show up; I dunno with guns”

Once the slates formed a singular shield, he’d have it hang off his right side hovering just about eight inches from him. As much as he wanted to enjoy a fight, there were too many civvies and a VIP that needed escorting elsewhere it seems.

His words filled her, he'd met her aunt Kanwar, her grandmother Light as well ? So he wasnt a Hunter, or a member of TheDragonWatch. "Kanwar ?" Briefly memories flashed before her, voices she recognised from within a memory. A white haired woman, with a silver haired woman, then a dark haired woman seeing her after birth. But the voices, names matched. Finally she nodded. "Hao... I will go with you." She said simply, lowering her sword and pretty much stabbing herself wit the thing as it disappeared into her side, even the hilt melded with the strange magic she possessed. The balgrog like abilities she had were helpful in getting weapons past enemies and guards with ease.

She turned towards Zion, a curious look to her face as she waved off the tavern owner, tossing towards him a rather large gemstone, a diamond the size of a tennis ball to pay for more than the damage she had incurred on the place. Her hand reached out and easily snagged one of the orders and read it over.

"Gēnjù yāoqiú, nǐ yào cōngcōng zhuībǔ bèi chēng wèi yīlìshābái gōngzhǔ de rén, tàiyáng yǐjīng fù qiánle, yǒurén yào tā sǐle.
Lóng shǒubiǎo*

Lizzy growled something and the paper desolved into silver fire before fading into ash. As she stepped over another of the fallen men she kicked the man, hard, in the ribs. Someone wanted her dead, TheDragonWatch wanted her dead. Turning to Lance she said simply. "Shall we ? Its a long walk to the edge of this city to make a portal"

*As requested, you are to hunt down the one known as Princess Elzabeth with all haste, the sum has been paid, someone wants her dead.

Lance's eye twitched as he watched the princess literally stab herself to sheath her sword. Everyone had a method, he thought as he glanced to Zion, who had his guard up via his weird metal plated cards he was using telekinesis to hold up in a similar shield formation he saw when they had met. He wasn't sure if it was for his own protection against the Draconic or against the ones who were chasing her. Either way, he decided it was probably more helpful if he kept that thing formed.

"Right," he answered back to Elizabeth as he started looking around the underground civilization, "Know any back routes out of here? One where we don't have to go through that Refugee Camp again?"

He would cross his arms and nod in agreement with Lance. “though these hunters?, they aren’t Aschen, it seems, and well, I’m just...throwing ideas at the barn door and hoping something sticks, the troops up in that camp won’t take kindly to those guys becoming a threat, and well we help them they help us” he shrugged, it was an idea and in no way they needed to follow it.

It was a trick he had used all the time back home, draw an attacker out play the victim and have the police deal with them, either way, he turned to allow the other two to continue talking, he made his way outside and stood just outside the exit, the shield still by his person barely moving away from his arm or even lagging behind.

It was their words that had her confused, refugee camp, aschen ? Of course hse spoke partly draconic as there was no way to properly say the word aschen to begin with. which made her snicker as it actually came out "ass... chin ? What are they ?" It was clear she had no idea what the two men meant. However she trusted Lance and nodded to his question "Hao, I know a place. Come, I have a room at an earby inn we can travel from there." She started off stepping out of the eating area into the street. There were more patrols of men and women in similar clothing to the five men she took down. But their coloration was vastly dffferent.

Upon entry the room they saw was simple, there was no extra clothing, no gear to carry, nothing. Once they were inside she closed the door with a flick of her wrist. "{Those men I took down, their letter and orders, they are called TheDragonWatch. They used to work for the Dragons, until they were corrupted by unwanted means. The Templar Order. Now they hunt dragons, or act as a gang beant on extortion, lies. And otherwise. We dont help them, they wont help us."

It was clear that by entering the barrier they had entered an entirely new world as she turned to Lance. "You spoke with my aunt, Kanwar. So you found me. I trust you because only my aunt would send anyone to know my name upon sight. Before we return, why did she send you ?" There was a few things that needed clearing up before she could just up and open a portal to Crystal City and the Silver Palace itself.

Of those was why he was sent, and why she was needed.

Lance nodded, letting the Princess lead the way through the underground "streets" of the city and towards the inn. He had some questions as well, but would hold off until they were in a private location. For now, he kept silent and kept a wary eye out on people who may be approaching for not so honorable reasons. He never drew his sword during the walk, but he knew he could whip it out in the blink of an eye if he had to.

He would occasionally glance forward to Elizabeth or backwards to Zion, making sure they weren't under distress from any silent attacks. Elizabeth has a cool, collected, but tense stance about her while Zion was quite nonchalant about the ordeal. The Guardian wondered if that was a front or if he really didn't have any concern about The Dragon Watch or the Aschen. Her didn't exactly have a good read on what Zion was thinking in that telekinetic mind of his.

They reached the inn, the smell of mildew penetrating his senses before anything else. He made no face, but wrinkled his nose slightly. It wasn't designed to be clean, he knew. Factors like that went out the window when people made underground cities to survive from an apocalypse. Nor was it designed to be comfortable. Simple and functional.

They entered the room and Lance's question was answered before it even left his mouth. Thankfully, they seemed like they weren't linked with the Shadow Legion he'd encountered in the Silver Palace, but it was just another concern to deal with on top of that, he figured.

He was transparent in his answer to Kanwar's question, "She sent me because she couldn't go herself. I think she wanted to tell you something herself. Something about the Champion of Light?"

Zion was rather nonchalant about the whole situation, oddly calm, even when at any moment there could be an ambush, ‘just another day in the life of an ESPer’ Zion thought to himself, whenever Lance seemed to glance back at him he’d look back himself and turn back only to sometimes shrug, with a quizzical look on his face.

Upon arrival at the inn, Zion covered over his mouth and nose with his neck scarf, the thin fabric easy to breath through but it help stay the smell. “Reminds me of the bunkers they younger citizens were put in during the war.” he spoke with disgust at the mentions of the word ‘war’ he shook his head and stayed by the door, entering the simple after the other two.

“So...where to next?” he clapped his hands and glanced around, until now he wasn’t nervous but being in a room with little cover and one exit, it put him on edge more so for the safety of the Princess than his own safety.
