The Multiverse

Dark Woods

74.5 INK

a part of The Multiverse, by Remæus.

An extension of the ancient and foreboding woods. The trail continues to wind south amid the bent and gnarled branches of the twisted trees. Along the path is a wooden arrow sign. Scrawled on the sign in a long dead and forgotten language is a single word. The soft loam has been converted to hard packed earth, the smells of the forest almost overpowering. In the distance the sounds of animals moving are heard.

Hanuman stopped moving. there is something wrong with this cabin... His voice sounded sad. Hanuman then put his fist in the air. When he did, it grew to be 5 times it's normal size. He then smashed it into the ground by the cabin. I was so hoping to get away from the rain. His hand returned to normal size. Oh yes, i forgot to mention, i am a shape-shifter, and i can see behind me miss, so i know you didn't bow according to your custom, but i won't hold you to it. He snickered to himself when he said that. He was a very playful monkey and didn't like serious situations. So when he turned back, on the back of his head you could see two tiny orbs. The looked like mini eyes, for he literally had eyes on the back of his head. He then pulled out his weapons and looked out into the forest.

There is something over there. He pointed to the trees, and you could see a faint outline of a being, but it seemed like it was made of fire. As Hanuman pointed the being disappeared slowly, letting everybody get a good glimpse at it.

Sairia was startled by the monkey speaking but introduced herself anyways, standing between Mat and Sheena. "I'm Sairia... I live in the forest, quite a ways from here though." she motioned behind her. She noted his shape shifting and breathed in deeply, maybe he could shift into a beast that the creatures of the forest would fear. She was glad he hadn't stepped inside the cabin, "Its a curse. You step inside and you can't come out without being attacked. We killed off quite a few, which is why we're not under attack right now, but I'm sure they are still coming."

When he motioned towards the tree's she turned quickly, her hands still ablaze from before, but when she caught the site of it, and that it was made of fire she quickly put her own fire out. "Can't fight fire with fire..." she sighed to herself.

Mat nodded when Sairia spoke of the curse. " I have not stepped inside the cabin yet, one curse is enough for me". He listened to the others speak. His suspicion of Hanuman being a creature from the forest began to subside.

Mat turned to look behind him. A flame like distance stood in the forest. "what is that...?" he said looking to Shenna. "You've stepped out the cabin, is that why this -being- approaches?" Mat said with a curious but cautious look upon his face. His hand slowly moved to the hilt of his weapon, hovering over it. It remained over the handle as the figure disappeared slowly.

"should we follow it? maybe we can find out the meaning behind this cabin's unfortunate curse.." he would add shortly after.

Shenna made a disdainful face at Mat when he asked if she was the reason for the being's presence. Her wings tightened and moved closer to her body and her tail grew rigid and pointed.

"I do not know why it has appeared, nor do I know if we should follow it. I have been outside this cabin once before this night and it had not shown itself until you and Hanuman appeared." She paused and took a breath, controlling herself again. "I do not think it is because of any one of us that it has appeared. We could try to follow it and see if it has answers, but if we do, we must stay on our closest guard. It may well be a trap." She looked around their small group, watching their faces and reactions. She relaxed her wings only slightly behind her, her tail swishing softly as she waited for the answers of each of her new companions.

Hanuman started to panic. he started running in circles and screaming. He then sat down and began crying. I must assure you there is a reason for this behavior he said in between tears. Hanuman then went to the witch and started whispering in her ear. He whispered That thing.... it is Cathraka, the destroyer of civilizations. He is a greater demon, we must do something about it.

The fire then returned at the edge of the forest. except this time 4 snakes of fire erupted from it and started moving towards the cabin. As this happened the being started to laugh. If you are as weak as the citadel of rain-monkeys, then you shall all die. But as the snakes hit the cabin they bounced off, unable to touch it.

As the being said that, Hanuman fell to his knees. What?...... My home?..... No..... Hanuman had just sat there, seeming nonexistent, he was paralyzed with grief.

"Shenna, I did not mean to offend. I was only stating a possibility.. " he said to her. Mat was disappointed at himself for seeming harsh."My apologies" he would add with a small frown. He looked towards Hanuman as he explained what the figure was.

"A creature of such power? incredible!!" he said with widened eyes. Observing the figures power bounce off the cabin, he would undo his sash holding his robe to him.

"Is this cabin sacred? his powers don't affect it all" he would say in astonishment. Mat pulled off his black large robe quickly, revealing white armor underneath. He had armor on his chest, shoulders, and abdomen, not including his guantlets. The white cloth underneath it had a quick glow, but faded to regular white afterwards. He pulled his black katana out and held it in front of him. His black hair changed to snow white, his jade green irises changed to white as well.

Mat rushed to Hanuman, resting a hand on his shoulder. "I'm sorry for your grievous loss friend. This would be a great time to avenge your people, to stop this immoral being from destroying more in the near future" He said in a calm voice. Mat remained composed, he would save his emotion for any form of battle.

Sairia rested a hand gently against Hanuman as he spoke to her, telling her of the demon. She turned her eyes to watch it again, the snakes of fire gliding past her as she refused to move from the blaze. She perked a brow and smirked slightly at him. “So many demon’s coming out to play…” she joked to herself, she herself being a half demon thanks to her father. Her attention turned to Mat, her deep blue eyes glowing brightly as she drew power from the earth. She watched him transform and smiled to him, “You have many faces it would seem.”

Her gaze met Sheena and Lucario, “Are you two up for another fight?” She teased. She was actually quite irritated. She had fought more this single day then she had in a year. Sairia turned her attention to the demon, kneeling against the ground and drawing a water symbol into the mud. As she rose the ground in front of her and around the cabin sank, the water from the constant rain rising to create a lake around them to the tree line, the ground everyone stood upon remaining solid. She turned to the others, “This will buy us some time. I guess, gear up.” She sighed.

Mat grinned at Sairia, "Yes, many demons today." He waited for another attack, observing the figures actions.

"Only three faces heh heh My human one, my phasing one.. which doesn't remain constant, and my last one.." He said as white cracks appeared around his eyes.

[ ok, I'm lost. I may have to leave. I'm way to inactive now to keep up, and I don't have the time to read all the posts. though I really don't want to leave, I have to. When another fight comes someone take control of Lucario and say he dropped his guard and got killed or something.

I am deeply sorry :( ]

Shenna nodded, as did Lucario.

"In my clan, we fight each other daily. I am not sure why, but it is how we are. We fight for many things, though we never harm each other or try to kill another. Not even for leadership," Shenna Rai said. "I suppose after all the years of fighting others like myself, I look forward to fighting with those I am not used to fighting or have never fought."

She grinned slightly as she looked towards the being in the forest.

((Alright, take care, Lucario ^_^ ))

Cathraka stared at them and then at Hanuman, he started to make the snakes of fire, except this time, there were 12 of them. As this was was happening Hanuman stood up and spoke. Everybody get in the cabin, what i am about to turn into, not even i can fully control. And in that cabin you will be safe. He looked at them and to show he was serious he started shape shifting. He turned into a beast twice the size of mat. It had spikes coming out the side of his arms and legs, spikes com9ing our of his lower back all the way up to the top of it's head. As he was shifting you heard one last thing in Hanuman's voice. I am becoming to jakaghan, it may be immune to magic, but i cannot control its personality. Then the voice became more bloodthirsty and deep. It just started snarling and moving towards Cathraka. You then heard a message in your head. If he proves to be more difficult then i thought and i cant beat him, then it might go for you, i cannot control it until 12 hours has passed. The beast then started running headlong towards cathraka, and cathraka ran towards the beast.

((im not a beast, im a demon. xD the closest thing i can think of that looks similar are the balverines off of the fable series. just not as werewolfy and hairy lol))

Mat observed as Hanuman changed.
"very interesting" he would say under his breath. "No , I will not step inside that cabin. I realize that I have made a mistake trying to find refuge in a cursed cabin. I do not need the burden of another curse.. If its shelter that you want us to seek, I shall find mine on the other side of the cabin. I'll use it to shield any incoming attacks, hopefully that works". he would then add.

Mat watched Jakaghan run towards cathraka, sheathing his weapon. He picked up his robe, breathing in deeply. Mat began to walk around the cabin.

Sairia turned in time to she the shape shifter and Mat. She sighed lightly and stepped to the side, falling through the watery lake she had created just as he was running over the top of her, the water top becoming hard enough for him to move on. She slipped herself through the shadows, coming up along the side of the cabin just as Mat rounded the corner. She smiled lightly to him and leaned against the wall, keeping her vision on the beast running at the fiery demon across the way.

Mat rounded the corner and approached the back of the cabin, it would act as a shield for any imminent attacks. He leaned upon the cabin with a contemplative expression on his face. "I wonder whats probably going to happen with those two.." he would say , inhaling deeply and exhaling sharply.

Cathraka did not know the passive ability the jakaghan had and launched a huge amount of fire at it. It just washed over the jakaghan and the cabin. If you were behind the cabin, you could see the flames licking just over the edge. But to Cathraka's dismay, this only made the jakaghan more bloodthirsty and angry. It grabbed what solid material made up cathraka and threw him against the cabin. This made the Cabin shake violently, but nothing seemed to damage the cabin. If you could see the fight, you would have seen the jakaghan then charge at cathraka, aiming to spill his blood and drink it all.

Mat looked above to see flames. He rested his hand on the hilt of his weapon. "I hope they aren't near the cabin... I'd rather not go inside that place" he would murmer to himself. Moments after he spoke to himself, the cabin violently shook. It was abrupt, causing Mat to jump slightly. He didn't notice that his blade was halfway out of its sheathe.

"heh heh, just an impact" he said tensely as he sheathed the rest of the sword.

Sairia turned, leaning against the cabin as she watched the demon and beast. The impact on the cabin shook her but she only grinned to Mat as he jumped. Her eyes darting to his sword as he sheathed it once again. "This should prove to be interesting." she smiled to him. Her brilliant deep blue eyes glancing him over through her dark red hair. She gently crossed her arms over her chest and watched the battle once again.

Mat laughed nervously, he was embarassed from his sudden jump. He nodded to Sairia with a large grin, "Indeed it shall be" Mat said. He looked around, still wondering if the battle was in our favor or not. Were we winning? or would we fail to stop him. Mat looked over to Sairia for a brief moment. He began to grow curious about her. What was she? He knew that she wasn't only human...

Shenna Rai remained where she was, not inclined to hide in a cabin, regardless of what the outcome may be. She calmly watched as Jakaghan approached Cathraka and began the fight. She shielded herself from the blast as Cathraka was thrown into it. Seeing Jakaghan rushing towards the cabin, she jumped up into the air, using her wings to take her higher. So far, Jakaghan was not in need of help, so she waited there, safely out of reach of either of them.

The Jakaghan looked at Shenna Rai when she took off with a bloodthirsty look in his eyes, the demon was too easy, it could not harm him as far as it knew, but she looked like a small threat, a very tasty blood filled threat. The Jakaghan decided to go after his new sight, and left the demon to do what he pleased. Hanuman was inside trying to gain control, he didn't want Shenna to get hurt, but he could not control the beast.

As Hanuman was fighting for control the beast jumped straight through the air towards Shenna Rai, its mouth wide open and it hoping to spill blood.

Mat heard the sounds from the battle halt from the other side. He turned the corner to see Jakaghan attempting to attack Shenna Rai. "Damn it, looks like he's against us now... " Mat said in disappointment as he drew his weapon. "Shenna!" He would call out to her, trying to alert her from an impending attack.

Shenna had never taken her eyes from either Cathraka or Jakaghan, so she immediately saw when Jakaghan jumped towards her. Shenna waited until the beast came closer to her, then she dove beneath him, heading straight for the ground. Coming very close to the ground, she straightened out her flight and quickly got out of it's range. Flying higher than she had been just before now, she continued to keep her eyes on both of the potentially harmful beings while staying withing view of the others near the cabin.
