New Dev Eru

New Dev Eru, chosen for its centralized location, and rare in the inner ring uncolonized status, is a desert planet in a fairly small solar system with only two other planets. It is about twice the size of earth, and has about 3 times the gravity.

A single day lasts 29.27 hours and a year lasts 390 days. The planet is made up of 11 continents, which make up 81% of the planet's landmass. Water is plentiful in underground reservoirs, though little water or life is apparent form the surface, with much of the Erutin infrastructure and people living underground.

The plantlike organisms on this planets are largely low to the ground, with trees and wood being rare, though some forests do exist nearer to the poles. Native animals tend to be small in size as well, though some larger ones are found nearer to the poles.

The New Palace is in the northern hemisphere, and while it still lies in the desert, it is in a more habitable region. Much of the above ground life occurs closer to the poles, though there are no settlements in the trees, due to the need to maintain the forests of the planet.

Major exports from this planet include sand, diamonds, and quartz, along with more synthetic materials in the form of nanocloth, which the underground communities produce in abundance. Imports include food, though thanks to advanced hydroponics systems, the planet is largely self sustaining.

Major cities are: Rautuin, Kalkola, Niskos, Helingby, and Hevosoja.

"Maroon. Reminds me of my great aunt, who always smelled like turnips." She said and made a face. "Turnips and raw potato." Absolutely disgusting. The woman used to pinch Molly's cheek as a child.

"You found the right trunk then?" Molly moved over to join Catherine. Oh wow. Those were pretty.

"Well Maroon isn't a color we would be putting you in. Claret perhaps, but not maroon." She answered as she pulled out the gown that lay on the top. The lace trimming the sleeves had yellowed ever so slightly, looking strange against the rich blue of the silk gown itself. "Yes this is the trunk. So far nothing has gotten to it." Catherine added as she looked for a place to lay the gown. The only explanation one could come up with for why the things were like they were was some form of magic or another, but Catherine didn't seem to be giving any good answers.

"...What color is Claret?" Did she want to know. It sounded suspiciously close to maroon. The young woman admired the blue of the gown. "That would have looked beautiful on you Catherine. That color."

She didn't understand fashion, and she thought the lace looked ridiculous. but the color was lovely.

"Wine colored. More purple than maroon I guess." She said as she pulled out a fan that had been safely tucked into folds of the dress. "I did wear a lot of blue at court... yes, it was a lovely gown. But I'm not sure if they're still stuck at the time of Louis XIV." Catherine added thoughtfully as she unfolded the fan with it's carved ribs and corded tassel at the end. "To be honest I'm wondering why I'm being asked to return." She muttered as she turned the fan over in her hands.

The woman shrugged. "Heck if I know. No reason for suitors, or anything like that right? I mean, it's a court. I don't know anything about courts. But my novels suggest there are lots of suitors." Molly had been researching. Well, readign romance novels, which was almost the same thing, and probably more useful.

Catherine looked at Molly with a rather disappointed expression. "What have you been filling your mind with girl? Bodice rippers? Sappy, historically inaccurate movies?" She questioned putting the fan down. Sure there were plenty of eligible young men and women at the court, but it was there also as a method of political means. "Court is... tricky. It's a method to display possible wealth, search for a potential husband or wife yes... but it's also a method of.. well networking. Building alliances if you would."

"Yes, and yes." She blushed. "We all have our weaknesses. Mine is a preponderance of romance novels." Way too many. "Alright. So someone wants to network with you. That doens't sound too bad." Potentially network. Molly would take it.

"Well that explains quite a bit." She grumbled putting the things back into the trunk. "Potentially yes. But there could also be other reasons, they could have gotten themselves stuck in another time loop. I'm never certain what it means to receive a summons from them." Catherine said as she rocked back onto her heels for the moment. "As it stands it appears that we will be leaving as soon as your things are finished by the seamstress."

"How many things will I need? I'm sure she can recruit help." If needed, after all. I wouldn't be too bad if she needed more aid. Perhaps. It felt bad askign the seamstress to drop all else but....this counted as an emergency right?

"One ball gown, and at least two good day dresses. You will also need stays sized to you as well. Accessories, and the rest can be borrowed from what I own. Things were not always so tightly sized as they are now." Catherine answered as she closed the trunk lid. She would move it down into the rest of the house once Molly had left. The two were still rather uncomfortable with one another, and it most certainly showed when the two talked.

"Alright." Stays. A sort of corset. "Shall we go through the accessories then? There were some pretty ones. You have good taste." She said, complimenting the woman nervously. She wante to at least eb friendly with the Director, outside of work, especially if they were going to be working so close together for a period.

"Well yes, I suppose so." Catherine agreed finding the situation suddenly rather awkward. Molly had detested this whole idea, but now had decided that perhaps some of the things that went with the gowns were interesting. Reaching back into the trunk, she pulled out a broach with an elegant bow motif. "This would be fastened somewhere onto the front of your gown, or I suppose you could wear it with a ribbon around your neck." Jewelry really didn't have any hard and fast rules set about it when it came to the Faerie's court, as long as it was beautiful. "What these costume dramas show is a good start yes, but the mannerisms are possibly wrong. Like I said, we could be looking at different gowns if I learn tastes changed. But, this is what I wore to court."

"Okay." She said, pulling out a similar one and admiring it, holding it against her shirt. Okay, it belonged on something a bit fancier than her work clothes. Still, it was lovely. Molly was an accessories sort of girl, who, because fo her job, didn't go all out with her aessories as she might choose to otherwise.

In some ways Catherine didn't much care anymore, and was entirely too jaded by wide gulf of time separating her from the majority of the world. Sure enough she had been given some unique experiences, privileges and the benefits that came with them, but it grew old after awhile. "I don't think of these much because I don't dress for much other than the office now. Even though it's time behind a desk, I can't very well give lessons to people like Parson dressed in anything other than trousers." She said with a slight sigh. The last time she'd dressed up in anyway other than the regular office formalities had been her wedding. It was disappointing, but she knew that her job was more important than a silk gown and jewels locked away in the attic.

Molly looked sad at that. "Sorry he's such a heathen." She said. "He's not any better at home." She admitted. "If I though anywhere could hold him, I'd honestly advise he be locked up." She may have to act the part of a parent, but she didn't hold motherly feelings for the child.

"He's a vampire Molly... something about the process to transition a human to one really does them no favors." Catherine replied putting the broach aside. "In all honesty he's better behaved than most Everchildren. But eventually he'll become an adult trapped in a child's body. That's when we need to begin to worry." She continued as she pulled out a length of lace that had obviously been intended for some now very long forgotten gown. "I'd kill the little bastard if I thought I could get away with it, but... my restrictions are what they are."

The idea of killing Parson had been entertaining albeit briefly, and it took her a moment to decide what part of her wanted to kill him. He had caused her grief, annoyance, and an extreme amount of trouble with the Council. Her relationship with them was already rocky, and the constant conflict of emotions, internal opinions lately had been difficult to deal with.

"I'd kill him if I thought I could." She admitted. "But I can't. And I have to keep him close as well, to keep the bastard safe. Kid has way too many enemies for someone who barely comes to my waist." Whether they were due to his family or his own actions she didn't care.

"He's still a kid for now there. And maybe he can straighten up." Maybe. She personally though he was kinda like Hitler. No hope

"I suspect those enemies are from his wandering about unchecked." Catherine pointed out. She herself had managed to fly far enough under the radar in recent years that no one really knew she existed. As long things were kept up with in the mundane world, and she didn't make herself too well known in the unseen, she was fine. "I highly doubt that. All that I'm teaching him is the absolute basics, and even then a lot if it is deliberately wrong. I have my orders."

"Deliberately wrong?" She shook her head. "Alright." She took out a strand of glass beads, aged with time. "Enough of small, white hairs terrors." She decided. "When are these from?" When, not where. What an odd thing to ask!

"Hm? Oh those must be trade beads. I'm guessing about around 1820, when I was doing quite a bit of negotiation up in the area of the great lakes. I think Lilly gave those to me." Catherine answered looking at the strand of beads in Molly held in her hands. In so many ways she could say that she missed Lilly, but didn't ever regret their partnership. It was always awkward to be the one to outlive most people you knew, and never have a decent enough explanation for your own lack of aging. "I spent about three months at what used to be Fort George negotiating out a contract with one of the indian tribes. My boss at the time thought I'd be the least offensive to them, as they were mostly windigoes. Don't ask me why."

Winidigoes? "I thought Windigoes were a type of cannablistic....you know what. Nevermind. University was probably wrong." She wouldn't ask. Molly smiles at the beads and set them aside. "You hve so much Catherine. You're lucky you have a place to keep it all!

"To be honest I probably have too much. I've hoarded it for whatever reason." She answered with a slight shrug. "Windigoes are cannibalistic in nature, yes... but they were more like werewolves than anything else. They called themselves that, but I may have Ojibwe to english translation wrong. It's been a very long time." Catherine said shaking her head. The house was nice yes, but it was just her now. No nephews, no family visits really. Each had gone their own way in time, with distances creating a large gulf.

Torin Illium lazed in one of the wings of the Rahal house, reclined comfortably into a plush chair with his feet up on a table. A Gameboy Color was in his hands, and the mage was currently playing The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. Torin hummed quietly along to Tal Tal Heights, his fingers flitting dexterously across the buttons.

All in all, the mage seemed quite comfortable. He'd gone to school that day, of course. He'd faded into the background, avoided the stingy cliques, barely paid-attention in class and had managed not to get into any fights. He was content to lie around the house for the rest of the day and leave his unfinished homework in his backpack.

Yeah right. As if Torture would give him the chance. She loomed over the back of the chair and glared down at him, picking up the gameboy from his hands and pulling out his headphone. "Torin..." She said, tone dangerous. "Where is your homework?" She had recieved copies of the syllabus, and e-mailed his teachers. She knew he had some.

Torin Illium stifled an annoyed groan. Was this REALLY going to happen? The fighter had been half-hoping that this whole 'tutor' business had just been hot-air on Rahal's part. Living in the lavish Rahal Mansion he didn't mind. Having to actually attend to his studies under his master's sister? That just wasn't fun.

"...a lil'..." he shrugged, "...worksheet in physics. Reading in History. Macbeth in English. And..." He extended a lazy hand towards his Gameboy. "...Windfish Awakening in Zelda."
