Atani Berentes glanced over her shoulder at the well-dressed loud man. He looked important. They would likely meet at a dinner later on if he was. While it was true sometimes the Embassy moved slower than others, they rarely had any complaints thanks to friendly staff.

She head out of the embassy towards the parking lot, her stomach grumbling all the way.

Atani Berentes has left the area, heading northeast into Tradeskill Square.

"Xenos don't deserve dignity." Hagan quipped under his breath as he watched the two walk out of the Embassy and out into the street. He offered a shrug, and looked back to his assistant.

"Let's get this over with." He ordered, checking his watch and waiting his turn.

"Alright sir, does everything seem to be in order, now?"

Francisco approached Miles Hagan with a small file and presented it. Inside were documents regarding his stay, including hotel reservations and meal vouchers.

Francisco gestured towards one of the rooms, to welcome Mr. Hagan inside to complete the visa process.

Francisco Dellèvon walked ahead of Mr. Hagan and polished the file. All that was really left was a photograph and a few fields to be filled in. Shouldn't be a process which took much longer. Francisco was especially interested to get a look at the jewels Mr. Hagan wore. There was still a bit of a magpie inside the old man.

Hagan looked to the fields he was supposed to fill out, he started writing in Anquietas.

"Time is money." He said, signing his name. "I'm not used to having this trouble, I'm gonna fire someone for this."

Francisco Dellèvon smiled gently and began inputting the rest of the information into the system. A white ring lit up on a black pane of glass situated semi-between them.

"Is this your first time in Freeport, sir?"

"Yes." Hagan replied as he leaned thoughtfully against his jeweled cane. "Us Langarans don't get out much, thanks to the whole Aschen Empire being hostile to just about everyone."

He looked back up to the official and nodded. "I'm in Freeport on business though, looking to expand my company's operations."

Francisco hit his last few keys and looked up to Miles Hagan. He had heard of Langara. It was supposedly a beautiful place that you could never visit else you might wind up on the murdered end of things. Nothing against you personally, as Miles mentioned. They were hostile to, well, just about everyone.

"Welcome to Freeport, Mr. Hagan. I think you'll find business here to be booming. What is your industry? Please look to the white ring for the photograph," Francisco Dellèvon gestured to the glowing ring and smiled.

Visas worked a little differently in Freeport. Every identification was more or less the same here. So long as your identity was verified, there wasn't much else to do beyond renewing the document itself. Updating the picture whenever you changed physical appearance, or genetics, or address, or anything at all that would prove the document counter to reality. It doubled as a passport, but seeing as it was a document more on the lax side of the grand scheme, it wasn't accepted as the sole proof of identity in stricter locations. Thankfully most places with an ounce of tourism - like Terra or Canus - accepted a Freeport ID with little cause for alarm.

Hagan shuffled around in his jacket, passing his passport book over to the other. The aschen passport book was black, with a red V emblazoned on the front, it read "United Aschen Empire" in four languages.

"Oh I almost forgot, do you need this? A lot of good it did me." He said, complying with the request to look at the white ring.

"I'm the owner and CEO of Tech Con group, the Aschen Empires largest conglomerate. We do everything from smartphones to warships."

Francisco smiled and took the passport book, opening a drawer and taking out a stamp. He stamped the passport book with Freeport's emblem and then passed it under a small ledge on his side of the podium. The passport was scanned and filed into the database with the few others which had come through here. Miles Hagan's Aschen Citizenry was officially confirmed.

The white ring lit up, quickly flashed, and took Miles Hagan's picture. Francisco hit a key to display the image to Miles, for him to decide whether or not he liked it.

"It's not often we see one of these," He flipped the passport over and gave it a last look-see before handing it back to Miles and gesturing to the photograph.

Confirmation of nationality, race, or species wasn't something considered mandatory with the identification process. If the citizen in question ever had to answer for themselves there were ways of getting to the bottom of the truth. Freeport, the city founded by the Freemen, was one of those places where vagrants could slip through the cracks until they did something to call attention to themselves. If the time ever came for disciplinary measures to be taken, as a vagrant the first step after detainment was to be marched straight to the embassy.

Natural born citizens of Freeport and Aberash with proper birth identification, as well as all Freeport ID holders, can conveniently have their information updated at a Post Office.

"Tech Con. I feel as if I may have heard of that - do you, by chance, also make those game devices? I've seen this advertisement for one. The jingle gets stuck in my head all the time," He hummed a few quick notes.

"Yes, the ZRX-100 Handheld Gaming console, which is part of our wider Tech Con entertainment line. I'm suprised someone's heard of them this far out." Miles said with a nod. "I'm hoping to bring Tech Con to the wider Aberash audience."

He took back his passport, and smiled. "Afterall, business needs to grow." He said, holding the passport in his hand.

"You probably don't, we're constantly bombarded with propaganda about how the space outside the Empire is so hostile, people never venture outside her borders. Fortunately, someone like me? I know better."

"Ahpsh. Propaganda. It is as it does. Well, just between you and me," Francisco leaned forth a tad and lowered his voice, "Space is filled with assholes. I would know."

He winked and for a moment thought back to that time he ran a pirate punk on a crotchrocket into a crystalline mass. Kid had been tailing him through an entire sector trying to jump him, which backfired as they got closer to his destination. Newcomers need not compete with locals when it came to asteroid dodging in that part of space.

"Growth and business go hand in hand. Speaking of hands, I hope to get mine on one of those ZRX devices soon. Hard to forget that jingle," Francisco's eyes twinkled. He gestured to the screen, waiting for confirmation that the photograph was alright before printing the thing. They found making people happy the first time around cut down on replacement identification costs, which dropped by a drastic 62% when people began to have some sort of say in their thumbnail.

Maria stepped out of the back room and barked,

"We're going down for a reboot, Francisco. Last customer for the cycle." before spinning on her heel and heading back to the labyrinthine office.
