a part of The Multiverse, by Remæus.

You have entered a towering white building with Greek, Turkish, and Moorish architectural influences. It has white columns as well as domes, spires, and Moorish archways with thin pillars. Inside, the floors are a peach-colored marble, the ceilings reaching, and the lights soft and low, allowing the multitude of windows to filter natural light into the space. To venture past the lobby, one must pass through a metal detector and x-ray scanner, and receive a visitor's pass from the security booth. There is a marked military presence, as the TAF has assigned a small unit to provide additional security in the wake of an elevated security threat. A row of golden-doored elevators leads upstairs.

Ylanne holds sovereignty over Government Center, giving them the ability to make limited changes.

"I believe it," Randin nodded to the 'six-months' comment, "as for the rest of that rant, I think you're full of shit." He grinned humorously. How long would the former Admiral keep playing the 'weapon' card? "But... I'm no therapist..." Randin shrugged, "and I sure as hell ain't here for your self-confidence. Lie to yourself however you wish. Maybe it makes you feel better."

"Anyway, we've got you for a drug charge," Randin pressed on, pulling another paper from the bottom of the stack, "but since Pattern isn't recognized under the DEA yet, you could probably win in an appeal." Randin looked up, his brows knitted. "If I were you though, I'd stay right where you are. There's over a billion people outside this building that would give their left-nut to see you hang. Under Terran custody you'll be given medical attention, fed, bathed..." Randin smirked, taking a quick sniff at the pungent odor in the air, "...and of course, your 'Pattern' problem will be accommodated. We don't have the drug itself, but heroine somewhat resembles it."

Kendra Shaw laughed somewhat. "Heroin he offers me... it has to be Pattern... Heroin just doesn't quite cut the pain pain in the brain brain." She said shaking her head. "No, I need pattern, or you can let me out and I'll go find the stuff myself, maybe I'll die in a pool of my own excrement before your people get the satisfaction, I don't want your primitive medical care, I don't want any of it, I want my pattern!" She said as she straightened up some. "If you want justice, you'll have to take it up with the Chairman."

"Well you're not going anywhere any time soon," Randin added absently, "there's still an investigation going on, after all. The TNG wants a piece of you too. I know the TIB took you away for a few hours..." Randin stopped as the knock came on the door, briefly flipping open his CADDY as he checked the camera just outside the door to see who was knocking.

"Ah...there's the doc himself..." Randin nodded as he rose to open the door to let Plishkin in. "Thanks for coming on such short notice, doctor."

Narim Plishkin trollfaced his way into the interrogation room with a small briefcase in his hand. "Short notice, ahh yes... well I am sure the proper financial compensation will be arranged, after-all I am a very busy man and it would take a scientist to arrange superluminal travel in such short notice via Bifrost... oh wait.. I'm a scientist.. how marvelous!" He said as he set the bag on the table. "First thing's first." He said before he withdrew a vial of a very vivid neon yellow liquid, loading the Syringe and then sliding it over to Kendra.

"First we stabilize the patient." He said, nodding. "So I can examine her conditions of course... has my lab been set up? I can't work without a lab."

Kendra Shaw looked to the vial, Kendra immediately recognized the stuff. "P..Pattern..." She said before she picked up the needle and vial, then she slid it into her neck. "You're a lifesaver! This is... this is a week's supply!" She said before holding it up. "It's the good stuff too, lab brewed, premium." She then stuck herself and injected the contents, resulting in an almost instant dialation of her eyes and a calmed pleasurable sigh.

"Sweet sweet shapes.. that's the key thing.. right right..." She mumbled. "Pattern is the key.. the key thing-a-ling.."

Randin D. Kaye raised an eyebrow, crossing his arms over his chest as the doctor set to work. "We have a med lab on-station," Randin said slowly, "it's well equipped, though it's no hospital. I'm sure it's not quite up to par with what you Aschens have..." The detective rolled his eyes, "...but I'm sure a professional of your caliber will make do."

"As for payment," Randin continued, "you can ask the TIB. They're the ones that set this up, anyway... and it's not like the Bureau gave me any other info except the bar-bone basics." The detective winced as Kendra injected herself, watching as she ascended into her high. No stranger to junkies, Randin ignored her senseless rambling as he focused on the doctor.

Narim Plishkin laughed. "Your primitive facilites just won't do, I'll have to take her to my secret laboratory hidden deep underground.... will she ever emerge he wonders.. oh how marvelous!" He said as he walked around the two.

"You're very lucky, I just so happened to have the foresight to bifrost my equipment and my mobile laboratory, you will find it parked and deployed on the street, how marvelous! I Love transforming motor-homes." He said as he began to examine the ulcers.

"Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus ulcerations.. Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus..." He said pointing to several other sores. "Lymphoma..." He said, palpating the intoxicated woman. "Signs of advanced starvation and dehydration... my gods has this woman acquired every Terran disease on the planet? She obviously stopped taking her Tretonin, such a naughty girl, I don't want to touch her I might get it too! You better get tested if you touched her, no telling what you may have! All these maladies, she's terminal, it would take an Aschen Doctor to cure." He said flatly. "She's got a week at the most, there's nothing I can do..." He added.

"Oh wait... I'm an Aschen Doctor! Oh how marvelous!"

"...secret... underground... laboratory?" Randin repeated as he thumbed in his pockets for a cigarette, "...you sure it's not off on some remote volcanic island?" This guy had to have come out of a Saturday morning cartoon.

"And we knew she was fucked up," Randin shrugged, "there's nothing a junkie won't do for a fix. By the looks of it, Kendra did quite a lot. We're lucky we found her when we did." The detective pressed the unlit cigarette between his lips, fishing for a lighter.

Narim Plishkin gave a strange look to Randin. "It's a secret laboratory hidden behind a bookcase that i kick my sister out of a regular basis." He trolled, then he went back to examining the patient. "I'll need to have her taken to my laboratory, mind you there's going to be an extra... keeping the Gemonese government off my back charge, I am sure you understand." Plishkin said. "Please arrange for Miss Shaw to be delivered to my mobile laboratory for treatment, I presume you wish to accompany her?"

"Yes, I do actually..." Randin nodded. With a doctor this wacko, the detective had decided he'd best be there for whatever operations might go down. Wouldn't want Kendra to wake up the next morning with mechanized organs and a disruptor rifle for an arm...

"Also, would it be possible to get some of that Pattern? It's a foreign drug, Terra's never seen it before. Might be useful to keep some backed up in the records for research."

Narim Plishkin laughed. "You'll have to find a Pattern lab, I can't divulge the stuff, it's very very very illegal where I come from." He said as he motioned for two officers to come in and help Kendra out. Carrying her out to the mobile laboratory.

"Veni, Veni, Venias!" He said aloud as he followed them out of the lockup to the waiting lab, which was easily the size of a massive charter bus, once the two of them got inside, they would be greeted with highly advanced Aschen medical equipment, two lab assistants took Kendra off of the officer's hands and Plishkin promptly booted them.

"No ape-gorillas in my lab, they could break something and destroy your planet!" He said as his technicians helped Kendra into a glass tube that was laid out in the center of the room. It was then they began to hook two large tubes to her chest, one with a blue tag, the other with a red tag.

"Is the patient restrained and promptly hooked up to the machines?" Plishkin asked, with the Techs nodding. "How marvelous." He said before he tapped at several holographic projections, it was then blood began to come out of Kendra's chest and enter what looked liked a dialysis machine, but it was something entirely different, once the blood was circulating through the machine and back into the body, he began to analyze it.

"Human immunodeficiency virus... did you know that she has full blown AIDS? I just so happen to be an Aschen doctor, I can cure AIDS.. oh! How Marvelous!"

"Yes... yes... marvelous..." Randin repeated as he looked about the mobile laboratory. To the Terrans, such advance medical technology mine as well be magic. "Cure AIDS? That's a neat trick. You'd make a killing in downtown Wing City." The detective rested quietly, leaning his back against a corner of the lab as he flicked at his lighter, eager to get his still dry cigarette lit.

"I hope AIDS is the worst of her issues..." Randin murmured.

Narim Plishkin laughed. "Malnutrition, physical dependence to the drug-- psychological dependence." He said as he inspected the screen while the glass stasis tube began to flood with a deep blue liquid.

"What strikes me as odd though.. the Terran Government plans on executing her, she's hated and cursed by the people, accused of dereliction and desertion on Langara, why not simply allow her to die?" He asked, while he tapped several more controls. "Nanomachines and Tretonin will be reintroduced into her system, while the pattern and viral particles are removed, her rehabilitation period, however will be long, she will need to be fed, allowed outside, and carefully monitored, additionally she will need therapy, as she still has the psychological condition that started the use in the first place."

Randin D. Kaye lit his cigarette at last, taking a few satisfied puffs before turning back to Plishkin. "Terra will give her humane care until she's lawfully tried," he said plainly, "she's a girl. A human... Even if she's done some pretty damn inhuman things."

Randin reclined further, eyeing Plishkin suspiciously, "I'm curious doctor...with the Confederation down, what have you been doing with yourself?"

Narim Plishkin eyed the cigarette. "If you set off the reactors with your lit Cigarette, you'll be responsible for my death, and the destruction of this trailer. Put it out I don't like smoking, it's bad for your health." He said before he examined the readout. "She was following orders, in the Confederation, if you disobey orders you're executed, Colonel Belzen, under Cain's command was shot in the head for disobeying her command, Shaw's desertion should prove remorse enough for her actions." He said, turning back to Nemo.

"If you were An Aschen Admiral, and you were ordered to glass a planet, after people on that planet killed your family, would you?" The trolling scientist suddenly turned serious,

Randin D. Kaye stopped in mid-puff, quickly ashing the cigarette under his boot, then collecting the ashes for good measure. "Shaw gave me the same reasons," Randin shrugged, "death or no, there's a choice involved. Sounds like this 'Belzen' guy had the right idea." The detective considered Plishkin's words carefully. "I imagine I'd be pretty damn upset, but I could never hold an entire planet responsible for the sins of a few. Believe or not, I never celebrated the frequent terrorists attacks that plagued Langara. Aschens are like Terrans in someways." Randin recalled a conversation he had had once with Marlene Angel. "The same red-blood runs through our veins..." he repeated thoughtfully.

Narim Plishkin laughed. "Mr. Kaye, we are Terrans." He said as he wandered over to another computron, tapping in several codes which scrolled upon the holographic screen. "We are descended from ancient peoples on Terra, but Terran, Aschen, Taiyou, we all came from Kobol, 165,000 years ago." He said, tapping a few more codes before turning back to Randin.

"Our blood is no different than yours, as you can see." He said, motioning to the clear tubes that had Kendra's blood pumping through them.

"So you wouldn't carry out your order? Even under threat of death? Maybe it's just how you were raised, but it was believed that Terra was entirely complacent. I've read Kendra's dossier, the attacks and the glassing haunt her, but Randin, there's an old saying that war never changes. There is no difference between detonating an atom bomb in a city, and glassing half a planet, only the scale."

"Kobol..." Randin repeated the planet. There's something you didn't learn in history class. The detective was naturally a bit skeptical to believe the doctor right off the bat, but he supposed he did know quite a bit.

"Maybe it is, doctor," Randin nodded in response to Narim's second point, "but I can sleep soundly at night knowing my government would never ask me to do anything so grosely immoral." Randin shrugged. "...or, if they did, that I'd resist to the best of my ability. I couldn't live normally with that that much innocent blood on my hands." Randin nodded to Kendra. "...and I don't think she could either."

Narim Plishkin shrugged. "I'm not out to lecture you on the origins of the Human race on Terra, the evidence won't lie to you." He said as he turned to face Randin. "I have studied the aspects of biology, I don't destroy lives, Detective... I rebuild them, I have power over death, did you know that Mr. Kaye? Have you ever watched a dead man wake back up? Twenty years younger? My research, has given my people access to immortality, the ramifications, I rightly don't think you'd understand."

"You must fancy yourself a God, doctor," Randin noted with a smidge of humor, "play with death all you like. Humans are mortal. Your technology, advanced and incredible as it may be, only delays the inevitable. You'll die one day, Plishkin. I will too. Prolly' faster then you will." Randin thought about it for a moment. "...certainly faster then you will."

Narim Plishkin laughed. "I won't die of age, I'll die because someone killed me, or at the end of my own mishaps, but death is only the cessation of biological functions... I've created medicines that can halt the process of aging, give us immortality like the magical elves you see on Terra, I admit, it was a long process, and I am still working on the kinks, I don't fancy myself a god though... there is no god, Man controls the universe." Plishkin ranted, before checking his status screens.

Narim Plishkin shrugged. "She's doing fine, the Procedure is moving along quite swimmingly, she'll be out in about an hour." Plishkin said, checking the screens one more time. "Her diseases have been removed and her nanites are repairing the ulcerations, the pattern has been removed as has the chemical dependance, she'll need to be well fed for quite some time, however."
