The Multiverse

Setting

ImageThough the locals often view La'ita Hara as separate from Volary, it is officially a borough of the Volarian capital. Unlike the rest of Volary which is built atop the towering cliffs, La'ita Hara spans across the plains below. To reach the upper city one must take the lifts at the cliffs - or fly

La'ita Hara is populated primarily by humans - though many avorians make their home here as well.

The design and architectural influences in this region of the city are somewhat distinct from the crystalline structures that loom above, and there is a more distinctive human touch to the place.

Many things one might not find in the avorian districts can be found in La'ita Hara, including but not limited to a large space-port, hotels, bars, and a wide array of human attractions. Also adding to its attractions is a classy, yet refined entrance to a popular bar where a brightly illumunated sign reading 'Gambit's Bar' hangs over the door frame. Due to its extraplanar nature, the interior of the bar is much larger than the exterior would have suggested. This was just one of many entrances all across the Multiverse that provided passage to the notorious establishment.

La'ita Hara maintains the same bans and restrictions on carrying weapons within the Capital as the upper regions of Volary. More information can be found under the laws section of the group page

(RP Notes: For those RPing in La'ita Hara, please be mindful that Volarian culture is predominantly influenced by Indian culture and there are heavy similarities in naming conventions, skin tones, cultural norms, religion, and style of dress with exception of gender inequality which has been offset in the more developed regions by the Matriarchal nature of the Avorian people who preside over Volaria. Humans are the predominant species found in La'ita Hara, with Volarians ranking in second. Other species, races, and immigrants can be found, but they make up the minorities of the city. Volaria is a lawfully driven society and public displays of criminal acts are unlikely to go unreported. The predominant language spoken in La'ita Hara is Volarian, with Taiyou and Losenyu typically taught as secondary languages. Volarians who speak Terran English are more common in the developed regions (like La'ita Hara) where tourism is popular. If you need anything specific added to La'ita Hara for RP purposes, please contact Tiko)

And on his word the ball shot up far above the buildings, reaching to the tops of the glistening skyscrapers. On its way up the orb considered what John had said. A walking, animated corpse, and intelligent even!, the orb thought. This John fellow was truly interesting. Finally the orb made it clear of even the tallest building, and its spheres jostled and rotated as a blue pulse erupted from its entire "body".

A quick scan revealed... nothing. "Hm." the ball murmured. No detectable alpha radiation meant the corpse was covered, likely due to the damage from the high levels of alpha radiation that it supposedly emitted. Local authorities may have recovered and confiscated the body for investigation, in which case it may be in a morgue or a special containment, or some other local agent may have taken possession of it.

Monitor-102 was not deterred however. It tapped into the local broadcasting networks and in fact discovered a news report of a radioactive body. No harm was done, but local agent were scrubbing the area regardless. "Ah ha!" The orb exclaimed, and fell back down to John. The whole event had taken a few minutes, and the orb hurried down even faster, as if it was late for an appointment.

"Hello again John! I've discovered that the local authorities most likely have possession of the body, and I am unable to track it." The orb said solemnly.

As the orb went off for it's scan, John began to walk through the streets, trying to also search with his 'vision'. Of course, this kind of vision is something which is nearly impossible for humans to do, hence he spent the many years of his life and death training to gain the vision. This vision, allowed John to view the energies as physical colours/lights; this includes light, life, nature, electricity, magic and other forms of energy.

After a little wondering around, the orb had returned, rushing as fast as it can. "Hello again John! I've discovered that the local authorities most likely have possession of the body, and I am unable to track it." It reported,
"The authorities?" John asked, seemingly annoyed and angry, "If those fuckers have it, then it'll be a very low chance of finding the body." He thought for a little as he continued his wondering, "We may have to kill some high class/ranking person in order to find this body. I need to replace this body anyway," he signified to his own body, making it obvious that he can change bodies.

This john fellow certainly has a fascination with bodies, thought the metal orb. "Well I wouldn't want to cause a disturbence in this local ecosystem, but sometimes science can only progress through extreme means." the orb hummed cheerfully. It spent five processing cycles (which equates to about 4.5 to 5 seconds) fully considering the implications of John's body changing comment. The orb gathered that John was something more then the simple organic vessels he inhabited, latent self aware energy perhaps, or maybe just a fluid consciousness that doesn't need a permanent physical address.

The scope and possibilities of such an ability in an organic made the orb bristle with excitement, and considered abandoning the search for the body to study John. But an echo in the lattice energy matrix that made up Contingent's broken mind reminded him to focus on the energy of the corpse they were looking for. Energy is the richest form of knowledge, completely purity. Access to and knowledge about any energy takes priority. The orb peeked out of the alleyway, surveying the city streets.

"If our odds are slim then we must make haste, before they diminish to near zero!" The orb floated back to John and projected a detailed 3D model of the city in front of itself. "I took the liberty of compiling a map of the city, I'm somewhat of cartographer hobbyist." said the orb sheepishly. "I'll let you lead the way John, your charisma may gain us more access than mine." The metal ball floated to a spot just above John's shoulder, keeping the map in John's sight.

John stopped in his tracks to closely study the map. It's as detailed as ever, an amazing creation from just a simple scan of the city. Scientific technology is amazing! No matter how much it intrigues and amazes John, he still could never get his mind around the subject. His profession is in magic and energy, not technology. Although, it does seem familiar, close to a technological race he had encountered back when he was in that group. "This is an amazing and helpful map. But the technology yourself is familiar, are you a creation or even a being itself of the Gayleipian race?" John asked before listening more to the orb's words.

"I would lead the way, but I haven't been in this area for long. I don't know where any intelligence departments are, nor do I know where to find the people who have access to it." John continued his walking, his dead hand rubbing against the gasmask, about where the chin would be; "You think you can locate any of that stuff? Or even hack into or find any information on the body?"

The orb considered its origin and creator. It had no data on the Gayleipian race, but a technological race of sufficient A.I. development would be capable of producing something akin to Contingent. "That seems very likely, I believe. I seem to have misplaced my location after a quantum jump, so more than likely my creators are searching for me. Oh yes, the Gayleipian race had marvelous pyramids."It rambled, avoiding admitting who or what its creator was. The little metal ball cataloged the Gayleipian race for further investigation and study.

At John's suggestion the blue orb responded, "Of course John, I should have immediate access to the city's information if I find a terminal with access to the city'es network." The local broadcasts didn't have anything relevant relating to a strange corpse in recent news, Contingent had of course already checked such a possibility while flying high above the city. However a quick check of recent news in the city archives should surface something useful, if the body had been recovered by the authorities.

The glowing metal orb floated around the corner and found the nearest access to the city's wiring, an electrical panel. It used an unseen force to remove the panel, then emitted a quick blue light across the wiring. A brief review of recent events in fact turns up an article over the recovery and subsequent disposal of the body of a supposed terrorist. The autopsy claimed that the body possessed some unusual qualities and many of the findings pointed to heavy alpha radiation during the beginning stages of decomposition. The body was shortly burnt and its ashes scattered at sea, baring the usual river ceremony given to regular citizens.

"Oh..." The orb exclaimed, processing two and half cycles in contemplation of the lost data and opportunities that were washed away in the tide. In an almost solemn state the metal ball returned to John to inform him of the unfortunate news.
"I do apologize John, but it would seem that local authorities cremated the body and threw the ashes to sea in a local ritual of death ways. It would seem our chance of such a specimen's recovering are near a zero percent chance." The orb shook its "head" sadly, and spoke to the wall next to it, "I know, you said to temper my excitement, don't you lecture me on experimental emotion routines." It sighed, "Yes John here will need to find another source of energy." And at that the orb returned its attention to John.

"Pyramids?" John questioned, a bit confused, "I don't recall the Gayleipian's built pyramids." It didn't matter anyway, the two were searching for a body, not information on some annoying robotic race.
After watching the orb use it's strange 'powers' to get into the city's database and find the information, it finally spoke, but didn't seem to be too impressed. With the information it told, John's face fell. His undead eyes falling into a glare, a large sigh being emitted under his gas mask. He had gotten extremely annoyed, all of this effort for nothing. If only he spent his time researching more of his necromancy instead of running around like an idiot. Ashes... Fucking ashes... He can't get the body now, but could still get the soul... Sadly, that requires a magic which is opposite of John's profession, or a divine being.

"What a waste of my fucking time..." John hissed, clearly very pissed off, "I guess we should focus on getting me a new body, this current one won't last much more. Then we shall do some research."

A bit of research sounded like a splendid idea to Contingent. So much effort and no results, but next to no data to analyze either. As John said, 'a waste of *ahem* fucking time.' The orb shook its head, disappointed. "Well I believe we should move forward with procuring another form for you, with haste!" The little ball thought about all that John had said. Yes, some much needed productive research is in order. The field of magic was a fascinating thing.

John thought a little, rubbing his 'chin' while the two beings were wondering around the area. After a small moment of silence, he spoke out, "You think you could find a body which would be helpful? Something physically strong. They usually hold a lot of life energy." John was sick with his depleted body, it was in a very bad condition. About a hundred years ago, the body was in great condition! Large strength and endurance. But as the years passed, and with constant decomposition of the body which was counteracted with regeneration spells, the body fell into it's pitiful condition it's at now. The muscles simply broke down and the body became too fragile to even run without breaking anything. That was why he needed the body. "If you find a good body, then I'll teach you some interdimensional magic."

"John!" Sebastian's voice rang out, cutting through the air. "John.." Would the being, whom she'd unwittingly perished twice for, hastily recognize her? The young girl's physique had withered to almost a shell, as if she had refused to eat, or hadn't become spared for food of any particular sort, for days. She'd hastily pursued the man, whom she'd drained herself for, following his every move. And now? What more fallacies rang within her overcrowded mind? Knowing not a single piteous soul within city bounds but hardly John, she needed someone. Cacius hung draped about her bloodied shoulders, struggling to catch his breath. She didn't acknowledge the other presence, however, she only needed one.

Kiri rose from her bed groaning slightly, her blue hair fell in her eyes messily as she cursed under her breath not wanting to awake from her slumber, she got out of bed her pulling her socks on which were originally bundled up in a ball, she brushed her teeth, washed her face, getting her daily wear on and walked outside her home walking down the street.

Kiri had reached a Café ordering a Black Coffee to start her day reading her book, which was dystopian literature she enjoyed every last bit she always craved for Adventure and something new yet she never found it, she had paid for her coffee leaving a tip and walking outside down the block passing a few people, she held her book under her right shoulder blade ignoring everything around her and just focusing on the path ahead of her.
