Current Alignment: Capital of The United Aschen Empire

Current Government: United Aschen Empire

Langara is the capital of the Aschen Empire. The terrain of this geologically young world is fairly temperate, alpine climates at the higher latitudes, and tropical climates near the equator. Langara has an average temperature of 43.6 Degrees Fahrenheit, and has a 74% Nitrogen and 22.5 Percent Oxygen, the flora of this world is indistinguishable from that of Terra, and the world is not terribly alien in appearance.

Langara is the fourth planet in it's system, in the outer edge of the Sun's habitable zone.

Langara has seven continents and three oceans, and is home to the original twelve Aschen nations.

Langaran Continents.

Map of Langara

Alpheus - Predominately temperate climate with a varied geography, Alpheus is a lush mountainous continent and home to the Province of Caprica, and Caprica City itself.

Dromas - Dromas is a southern, predominately lush and warm climate with a large southern Savannah, Dromas is home to the lush flatlands of Aerilon to the north, and the arid, savannah like climate of Libran to the south.

Lamos - Lamos is a cool, lush continent to the north in Langara's eastern hemisphere. There is quite a bit of precipitation and every several years, Lamos is hit with powerful storms from the northern Tethys ocean. Lamos is home to the Province of Sagittaron, and it's Capital, Tawa, a coastal bay city.

Metis - Metis is a large southern continent in Langara's eastern hemisphere, characterized by a massive, expansive desert in the north western portion of the continent, and lush jungles and savannah to the south. The Provinces of Leonis, and Scorpia share Metis in the north and south respectively.

Tibertus - Tibertus is a large, lush and arid, Siberian continent with a cold unforgiving climate in the northern portions of the continent. However the western side of the continent is lush, and used for farming by the Tauron people. Tibertus is home to the Provinces of Tauron, Picon, and Canceron

Inachus - Inachus is a mountainous, heavily populated continent in the south eastern hemisphere of Langara. Inachus has climates ranging from temperate, to Arid, and is home to the provinces of Gemenon, part of Canceron, and Virgon.

Oceanus - A large collection of islands in the eastern side of Langara, and has a largely tropical climate, home to the Province of Aquaria.

Tethys Ocean - A Large, cold and unforgiving ocean in the eastern side of the Alpheus Continent, known for it's storms. (Terran Equivalent would be the Atlantic)

Aries Ocean - Large, somewhat warm ocean on the western side (Terran Pacific Equivalent)

Menoetius Ocean - Warm ocean in the southern Hemisphere, south of Inachus.

Enipeus Sea - A large body of water bordering the Tibertus, Inachus, and Metis Continents, likened to an Aschen Mediterranean.

Romo Lampkin slowly sat down. "So it's the opinion of this court that Terran sovereignty doesn't matter?" He said, shaking his head. "My Client did not commit these heinous acts anyway, My client is an upstanding man of chance, where is the Prosecution's evidence that My client killed Natalie, where is the evidence that Blackjack committed Terrorism, My Client loves the Aschen Confederation."

Blackjack smiled. "To be fair to Mr. Lampkin, while that act seems to say that the Aschen military can apprehend foreign criminals, this wold logically be if they were in Aschen space. However they arrested me on Terra, so unless I was in the Aschen embassy while I was arrested, I doubt that law applies on a sovereign world. If it does, well then that's saying Terra isn't sovereign anymore, isn't it?" He smiled, pulling out a small deck of ffty two cards, shuffling them on his desk. "However Mr. Lampkin is entirely right. I have nothing but respect for the Aschen Confederation. No matter what the intentions, it takes great skill and leadership to make a previously lawless section of space stable. That, I commend them for. As for me, I simply enjoy games of chance. I'm no terrorist, I doubt I could hurt anyone if I tried." He drew an ace of hearts from the deck and looked at it, before putting the deck back in his pocket.

“Mr. Lampkin, the question is simple -- what argument can you make against the legality of your client’s arrest and detention? I have not asked about your client’s guilt or innocence, and I will not until this question is answered.” Chakladar glared at both attorneys, the corners of her lips twitching.

Romo Lampkin cleared his throat. "I argue Blackjack's presence on Terra, that he was arrested and detained on Terra, surely that if we could waltz in on sovereign worlds and kidnap anyone we choose to, then that would be a clear indication of our imperialist intentions. Apprehending Mr. Blackjack on Terra without a clear treaty or even prior notification to the Terrans is a violation of their sovereignty, and it would be a fallacy to try him here without consent from the Terran Government, I'm only demanding the Law be adhered too." Lampkin explained.

Marlene McGregor shook her head. "Objection! The law of the ACSRA is clear, foreign terrorists on foreign soil harboring themselves from justice are eligible for military detention, Article three Section Four in the provision clearly states this directive, if you want to play the Sovereignty card, Mr. Lampkin, then I will read the additional amendment stating that any world that knowingly harbors these criminals are in as much contravention as the criminal themselves."

Blackjack played with the ace of hearts in his hand, flipping it from finger to finger. "Well that implies that the Terran Government itself knowingly harboured me. We might as well imply a garbage dump knowingly harbours the rats and seagulls it draws. We must also therefore blame the dump for the Bubonic plague, no? See how well that logic holds up Ms. McGregor. Besides, try it anyway, go to war with Terra. I'm sure there aren't plenty of other people who'd love to see that happen." He put the card face down on the desk and sighed.

Marlene McGregor cleared her throat. "The Defendant willfully sought out an LDA Agent, detained, tortured, and then executed the Agent for the purpose of extracting information to be potentially used in the execution of enemy-combatant actions against the Aschen Confederation." She said calmly.

Reginald Cheney was not happy. Who wanted to be subjected to dozens of invasive searches for what was supposed to be only a brief visit? Minister Khamtai had contacted the Aschen government and notified them ahead of time of Regi's visit on official business, as a consular official in Terra's diplomatic corps, representing the interests of the Terran government -- specifically the Ministry of Justice and the court that had issued the indictment against Marlene Erin Angelique. Regi was a pale-faced man of average height with broad shoulders and a bit of a beer belly. He had grown his light brown curls just enough to frame a square shaped face, and add a touch of humanity to otherwise bland, easily forgotten features. He arrived on Langara with several sets of documents in a brown leather briefcase, himself dressed in a dark gray pinstriped suit -- standard government fare.

The Searches remained invasive, with practically every nook of the man being scanned or searched by Customs officials, then one of them approached. "Look into the red light please." He said, then a flashing blue light would likely dazzle the man as they took his retinal scan. "You're cleared, I understand you have an official appointment with the Ministry of Law?" The Customs agent said, before he looked outside to a black sedan, that was being parked outside the spaceport terminal. "I think your transit is here." The Customs agent said, handing the briefcase back after searching it several times over.

"Understand that you will be monitored and your movements tracked at all times, and access to sensitive government offices is restricted, please be mindful as our citizens are paranoid, have a nice day." He said, and when Reginald reached the black Sedan the Driver would help him in, packing his stuff into the trunk. "I trust your flight was uneventful?" He said, before he sat down in the driver seat. A brief blue flash greeting Reginald again as he sat in the car. "Don't mind the Retinal scans, all Government buildings have them."

"Oh good gods, what have I gotten myself into," Regi muttered under his breath, shaking his head as he took his seat, rubbing his eyes after the flashes of light. "It was fine, thank you," he said to the driver, inclining his head, choosing -- perhaps tastefully -- not to mention that he had been chosen to make the trip by lot and very much against his will. "Nobody died, nobody got shot at, nobody vomited all over me, so yup. It was all good." He gave a forced smile, watching the scenery as they passed by.

The Black sedan drove them through the city streets, which were, as typical with Aschen architecture, wide and airy, with tall gleaming skyscrapers dominating the skyline. The Ministry of Law was one of these large buildings, towering above some of the rest, with the crest emblazoned near the top of the building. As the Sedan came to a stop. The Driver inclined his head. "Your trip has been paid for, have a nice day. The Ministry of Law was guarded by two officers at the door, and an overhead retinal scanner, which like the last couple times, forcibly took a retinal scan of the Terran official as he made his way through the doorway, logging him in the system which was used to track his movements. The Ministry of Law was a Grecian style building, with white marble walls, towering ceilings adorned with paintings, and marble tiles laden with gold. It was a literal definition of lush.

The Receptionist would look up to the Terran official, having already had his information pulled up from the Retinal scan. "Third floor, down the hall to your right, your hearing starts in ten Centons." She said, using the Aschen time measurement. Indeed as Reginald made his way through the office, holographic arrows provided directions, using information fed from hidden surveillance cameras. If there's one thing ACSRA Did, was speed things up.

Regi winced, grimacing as the retinal scanner took another reading of his eyes. He did not like being on Langara. Not even slightly. He stepped into the building, approaching the receptionist and listening as she directed him. "Thank you," he said, partially out of genuine appreciation for her helpfulness and partially out of shock at his disturbance caused by the Big Brother like environment. He headed toward the indicated direction, looking for the hearing room. As he moved at a swift, business-like pace, Regi patted his hand on the briefcase to ensure that all of the files were there.

Judge Magister Taris presided over the Courtroom silently as he read over the next docket. Of course this was a simple Bench Triad, to decide on whether or not the Aschen would Extradite Marlene, the Judge Magister was a relatively new implement in the Aschen legal system, given the power over their respective courts, they were an effective tool for the Ministry of Law.

The Man had on grey colored robes, accented by a white stripe on either sleeve, and a red and gold laden chain of office, with the bang of his Gavel, he bellowed. "This Hearing will now begin. Approach and state your case, Terran." He ordered.

Sire Thomas Zarek slid his hands into his pockets as he waited under the Aschen parliament building in Caprica city. As Bifrost became more widely available in the Aschen Confederation. Travel between points for government officials became easier and less of a burden. And So Zarek had summoned Drulovic to travel in this manner, after she spent the few seconds being hurled through the Bifrost wormhole. Once she reached the other side. Zarek would be standing there waiting, the secured fortified bunker was an indicator of what the basement was used for. And of course, two soldiers clad in the new Aschen combat armor armed with Disruptor II rifles were silently standing as Zarek waited.

"She should be here any minute." He said, adjusting his formal robes.

When Drulović arrived in the secured bunker, she narrowly caught her balance from the sudden rearrangement of her molecules on the other side of the wormhole, avoiding stumbling across the floor. With a small twitch of the lips and a frown, she righted her balance and smoothed the wrinkles from her olive green pantsuit. “Good morning, Mr. Zarek,” said Drulović, blinking slowly at the Minister. Her eyes revealed little in the way of emotion, but she appeared to be scanning the room with keen wariness leftover from her operations days.

Sire Thomas Zarek extended his hand to Drulovic before he offered a smile. "It might be morning on Terra, Arianne." He said before he turned to lead her towards the exit of the bunker. The skies were black, and the lights of Caprica City were shimmering in the distance, like a carpet over the mountainous terrain. Skyscrapers seemed to glow in artificial light, and Caprica seemed to be quite a colorful city.

"It's almost midnight here." He said, as he led Drulovic outside, the glowing sphere of Langara's watchtower, and the specs of orbital defense platforms dotted the skies like fireflies.

"Care to join me on a walk through the city? I always find it's a great way to unwind after a long bifrost trip."

“Sometimes I take walks to the park not too far from my home,” said Drulović, following Zarek outside. Her eyes narrowed a bit, watching the glittering Caprican skyline. “Do you always hold these meetings at midnight, Mr. Zarek? I can’t imagine that’s protocol. I may not be one for much in the way of proper etiquette, but I must say, this seems rather unorthodox.” The comment was made in much the same way one might have made an observation of the weather. Drulović tucked an errant strand of hair behind her ear.

Sire Thomas Zarek nodded. "Well, Caprica's time is different than Wing City's time, so I have to sometimes take into account." He said as he began to walk, starting down the sidewalk of Government plaza, the city's air was clean, and cars continued to buzz back and fourth. "I also didn't want any pressing media interceding on our meeting." He added, leading Drulovic through the city streets.

"A little birdy told me you're having problems with a Minister Malijin, care to enlighten me? Keep in mind this discussion is off the record, so don't be afraid to tell me anything. I'm here to help." Zarek said.

“Journalists are awful creatures,” responded Drulović, matching Zarek’s pace. She walked with her hands folded across her chest, as if she were cold. “I have absolutely no patience for their ilk.” She pressed her lips tightly together, pausing a moment before speaking again. “Mr. Malijin is a politician, much like most of those in our Parliament. Like those in yours, too, I am sure. I’m no friend of politicians, Mr. Zarek. I don’t care much for their games.”

Sire Thomas Zarek nodded. "I'm a politician." He said, turning to face Drulovic. "I'm a Sire, but the fundamental differences between our Parliament and yours, is we lack the bureaucratic shortcomings the TNG has. I've read some of Mr. Malijin's dossiers and I must say that his influence is growing, and is detrimental to the interests of Aschen national security.. to be quite honest I'd like to meet this minister." He said, sliding his hands into the pockets of his robe. "Have you heard anything new about Hataf?" Zarek asked, tilting his head for a moment.

“I’m sure he’d be more than happy to meet you,” said Drulović, speaking a bit absentmindedly. “Mr. Malijin and his party are decidedly more amenable to opening borders and establishing trade agreements than Mr. Cranford and his party.” Her frown deepened for a moment, and she glanced at Zarek with uninterest before turning toward the Caprican skyline. “Your city is very beautiful at night,” she said. “It looks a bit like Sarajevo did -- before the bombings.” Drulović spoke strangely. “I’m sure you heard of the bombing and fire at the International Physics Association’s conference last week. There were a number of Hataf there at the time.”

Sire Thomas Zarek nodded. "I heard it in the news, it wasn't reported in depth, but the LDA also made a report, what happened?" Zarek asked as they continued to walk through the city, as a few droplets of mist peppered the two while they walked, and the two happened on a bridge that spanned over one of the many rivers that emptied into the bay the city sat upon.

"It's one of many cities on the planet, you've never been to Langara at night have you?" He said, staring out at the skyline, which was glimmering with blues, greens, and purple lights from the flickering screens of advertisements.

"It's deceptively beautiful." He said.

“Hataf’s Great Council had convened their annual meeting to coincide with the physicists’ conference, and it appears that someone else with the same same intelligence decided to attack Hataf there. The numbers haven’t been declassified, but a fair number of Hataf’s planetary leaders have been reported dead.” Drulović let her hand glide along the railing over the bridge as they walked, appreciating the cool touch of the metallic railing. “They’ve reorganized, with their leader announcing a number of security changes. The Bureau is on the scene with the NPA.”

Sire Thomas Zarek nodded. "Do you know who was behind the attacks?" He said, crossing the bridge as the temperature slowly dropped as a cool breeze blew through the river and between the skyscrapers. "I've heard there was a string of devastating attacks against Hataf." Zarek admitted, before he turned to stare off towards a particular sign in the distance.

"LDA Says that the Inquisition is setting it's sights on Hataf again." He said, turning back to face Drulovic.

"What should we do about the Inquisition?"
