The ranger narrowed her eyes at the man's sudden outburst. Her fingers danced along her bow, but she didn't make a move to lift it. "You... sound like you have a lot of... personal problems there. You sure you don't want to rest? Maybe you're dehydrated? Hungry? Are you hurt anywhere?"

Maela wasn't sure of the nature of this man. He could have been anything. Anyone. For all she knew, he was an undead raised by a witch trying to trick her.

Wouldn't have been the first time.

Hugo runs his hands through his hair in frustration, sighing deeply as he sits down at the base of a tree. He started to realize that people will realize he's not human eventually. "To be honest I'm starving....and I'm not hurt, unless you count my soul." he slowly removes his glasses, showing that his eyes had a strange glow to them. He laughs nervously, almost as if he just broke down "I-I'm not human...I'm not human." the stress, the betrayal of his family, his affliction, it was all too much for him. He looked up at the moon, palm over his eyes in a futile attempt to hide his tears "T-That feral werewolf took everything from me! I would have been dead if it weren't for another one attacking it. Part of me wishes it was just a little bit too late. I can't live as a werewolf I...I was meant to convince the church that they were wrong about supernaturals! I can't do that as one of them!" Hugo just sat there, sobbing as everything felt like it fell apart.

"The church? The church has a long standing hate against supernaturals since before Lutetia was established. You should know better," Maela grumbled. She didn't seem perturbed knowing the man was a werewolf. Better than anything else, though she did err on the side of caution.

"I'm really not one to council someone who's not doing well emotionally, ah... it's not my shtick. But if you don't pick yourself off and follow me you'll have more worries than living as a werewolf. You'll have a hard time living at all. Come on." She nodded towards the city. "Let's go. You can figure things out once we get there. Okay? There's werewolves everywhere. Supernaturals everywhere. Even I'm not human. So let's go."

Trying to regain his composure, he stands up. He was a little surprised to hear that she wasn't human, though it did make sense in a way. He wipes away his tears and puts his glasses back on, sighing "Forgive me...this isn't the place for me to get lost in my troubles. You're right, let's go." he says, following her closely.

He thought about what she said, about the church hating supernaturals since the beginning. She was right. They weren't just going to change or question their long-standing beliefs. "You may be right about the church. I just hoped there were reasonable people within its ranks that would actually stop and think about their antiquated hatred." he said. Soon the city was within view "Thank you for the escort, Maela." he said, sighing as he looked toward the city "I don't know where to go. I wandered around on my own for a week before I starts stumbling about in the forest. I'm going to need someplace to stay...and as much as I'd hate to admit it, it seems like I'll have to fall in with one of the packs."

Maela rose the corner of her lip in disgust, but while she was turned away from Hugo. When she turned around to look at him briefly, her face had become neutral again. "As you are now, you're better off without them."

Possibly better in the woods than in a church, too, Maela thought, peering deeply into the darkest areas of the woods. Shadows danced at the sides of her vision. Every time she turned around to look directly at it, it was gone. So were the woods, typically at night.

"I'm not a city dweller. My sister is, though. If you're dropping in with a pack... well, make sure it's one of the better ones. As a Society member, even if I'm not a Hunter or Slayer, it's my duty to keep an eye out for anyone who wants to break the law, too."

"You misunderstand me. I know the sting of love lost and so I am sorry for your loss. I can not be sorry for doing what needed to be done." She continued to speak and he nodded in response. He had no intent to follow her. "That is for the best." He did not respond to her statement of a possible alliance.

He doubted she would be thrown from the city but she was right. Too many things were happening in Lutetia as it was. Her introduction would only cause more strife. "May your days be many and your troubles be few.", he said in the old tongue before shifting and starting to pad away.

"Until we see each other again, Brother." She answered quietly. "I am here, should you need me." She added, in the old tongue. She watched the black wolf pad off silently before shifting herself and walking back deeper into the woods.

Another place, another time, Bigsby frowned as he glanced at his surroundings. There was something off about the trees that grew around the old wizard and the air was thick with what some could consider foul and a bitter reminder of the grave. The ancient wizard simply began to stroke his beard and tighten his grip upon his strange staff only to walk around for a bit before giving up and plopping down next to a tree and began to slumber.

It would be sometime before the old wizard would wake once more but his senses remained sharp and he knew that nothing would get the drop on him so long as his conscious mind remained perfectly still. His closed eyes allowed him to place wards and sentry spells all around him in the most complex algorithms any wizard had ever laid. He would be prepared for any unexpected visitors.

It was a tricky propersition to explain what was essentially unfathomable by human nature, it posessed a human appearance of sorts, but nothing about it was human. It wore a robe of the most decadent yellow, covering it's whole body or what could be believed to be a body. Under it's hood was merely a horrific visage that had living screaming faces all crying out in utter agony seemingly souls this thing had crushed. Finally a crown of unknown metal lay over it's head. It appeared to move effortlessly through the miasma around these foreboding woods, but as it approached the powerful figure, it's head twisted.

For few seconds it said nothing before it spoke, and when it spoke, it was like the hissing darkness, clanging of loud bells ringing through your skull, utter torment. It was impossible normally to ignore, but then again these weren't normal circumstances, "Bigsby Big Hat, charmed I am sure. I am certain I don't need any introduction, so shall we get to business." despite the eloquence, it radiated utter sinister intention, the polite nature was merely theatrics for that is one thing it loved about mankind their taste for hedonistical displays to deliver messages.

Bigsby raised his massive hat slightly with a single finger and only opened a single eye allowing his blue gaze to land upon the Yellow King.

"Hastur, I know who you are, your kind words are noted but not welcomed." The Old wizard slowly shook his head at the idea of doing any kind of business with the thing before him. It might as well have been more of an insult to his very being considering that those who usually found themselves in the company of the Yellow King lost more than they would ever bargain for.

"Out with it!" Bigsby bellowed with power behind his words. "What business do you think we have together Hastor, Yellow King, be quick about it for I am not someone you can so easily manipulate." The old wizard glared at the aberration with his crystaline sapphire hues only trace his spellworks silently as if waiting to spring a trap.

It chuckled but the laughter sounded like sardonic bells just screaming in utter mockery. It's body did not genuflect or move in this display merely the laugh could be felt, "There is certain cycle to these things Bigsby and I am merely hastening these events. I have intentions you cannot abide but to prevent them you must figure what it is. Consider it a pantomime, I am the Black Hat, you are the White Hat, but rather than your side always winning, the rules have changed. I like, no enjoy seeing intellect on display and I am giving you a chance to see if you can figure my goals. I shall tell you right off the bat, I grow tired of creating cults, they never last and really I don't want mewling quims as my worshippers." it smirked, it could not be seen, but it could be felt, "Since you don't fear me, say my name Bigsby and guess what my plan is. I am after all well aware you worry about these pitiful beings who's only use is to destroy their minds and live them writhe in their decadent gestures. You also know unlike my brother, I am not wishing to destroy all existence, because that would hardly be theatrical, would it?"

"Hastur, The Unspeakable One, Him Who Is Not to be Named, Assatur, Xastur, H'aaztre, or Kaiwan...." Bigsby could go on for ages but instead he stood up from his spot and stared down the aberration with no fear and all the haste in the world. "Hastur I could care less what plans."

The large hatted wizard took a step forward towards the creature only to clench his gnarled firsts into a tight ball. It was determination and a lack of fear that brought the wizard closer to the unnatural being. "Do you think that I am not aware of what you are capable of doing? Do you think that I am not aware of your malicious ideas and plots for all things claiming to be part of the living host that is the universe?" Bigsby gave a rather wicked grin as his sapphire orbs began to glow an eerily in the dark woods. "Talk and be quick. It will be your last if you waste anymore of my time."

If it could smirk or be seen to smirk then hearing all those names recited would have brought a twisted sort of amusement to this aberration. Instead you could only sense such a thing occur. Nonetheless it did chuckle in that horrifically twisted fashion. As the names were spoken there would be coldness that would seep and creep into the area with such malign grotesque delight, each one increasing ambient icy death, "Such gutsy behavior, confident and aggressive. Many would never dare utter all my names with such foolish bravery, but it is as it is."

Noting the action, it seemed to laugh again this time more quiet and subdued, "Oh I am well aware you know who I am, I don't meet everyone so casually. But if you demand then as I said I have some plans, they involve playing a cosmic being and letting him believe that he is safe. My pieces are all moving, I even gathered many an old friend, but why would I do such things? To entertain myself of course. I am capable of many things Bigsby, but whether I will do them, it has to be theatrical and destroying all existence would just be dull. Instead I think creating ripples and controlling chaos, shall be more fun. I know also you believe you can match me, maybe you can, who very much knows. I merely am playing a game, have been for a long for a long time..." coughing, well not in typical way it sounded pestilent and eerie, "I also gathered a certain figure back from hiding, Ezrael is returning to the verse."

The old wizard began to ponder if he had heard of such a name. Ezrael? Someone from his past, maybe, but who honestly knew. Bigsby was in a state of constant change and even if he did or could recall such a name to a face he was sure there would be heavy handed words and slights to be traded one way or another. The wizard frowned as he watched the abomination only to dismiss the thing entirely and turn his back upon the chaotic thing. His spellworks still shimmering at the corner of his gaze as he dismissively began to examine the tree he had sat against earlier instead of the Yellow King.

"Theatrics are a wasted effort. You are like a poor fool who imagines themselves so great that they cannot even see how far they have truly fallen." Bigsby retorted in a rather gruff voice as if he had coughed not moments ago. "Honestly now, foppish behavior for something so old, I do not scare easily." The Large Hatted man simply tilted his head to the side so that he could look back upon the Yellow King. The old man smirked as he continued to note his spells handiwork only to subtly change a few lines with his vision altering the spell to act as a snare.

"So tell me Hastar, honestly now, do you think I am someone who truly cares for your shenanigans?"

Another wracking cold chuckle reverberated around the dark dismal forest, the trees swaying in the dank coldness that now snuck into the area, creeping and edging to further chill ones soul, "I would never assume to scare you, if I would, I would hardly assume this respectful form? You as well as I know Bigsby this is not my true form, this is merely a comforting lie to the folk who believe they can demand selfish wishes of me. Assuming that I am some sort of Genie who grants wishes without strings, without dangers, it is amusing if somewhat tedious." he merely paused politely to continue, "In the end Bigsby you may know a great deal about me, but you must surely know Erebuz though imprisoned is far bigger threat. Whereas I am comfortable merely acting as a magician to a crowd, he will unmake reality and he has many a time. I could do similar, but how could I perform to anyone if I ended all existence. Thus you have a choice Bigsby, ignore your hatred of me and address bigger threat or allow existence to end and yourself to die a death you could have prevented. My shenanigans are in essence preventing a far bigger issue. You can address my actions after. Although you can never destroy me, I can only have my body destroyed but Erebuz can be destroyed, well not destroyed but have his prison strengthened, the choice is yours old man."

Each time Hastur spoke it was a dark whisper of utter terror ringing through the mind it radiated malice and cruelty and his breath deadened any flora around while slaughtering fauna without concern. It was easy to tell the King in Yellow was smirking, one key thing Hastur had was an ego, one that verged on him believing himself royalty. Or at least a parody of it, which cared little for its citizens.

"Then out with it, "Yellow King", or are you going to continue to bore me with your long winded allegory for some chicken broth love scheme you call the multiverse!" Bigsby pulled his hat down from atop his head allowing the massive hat to open up a portal behind the wizard sucking itself and the tree he was behind with him.

It was obvious that Bigsby would need to look over his notes and view the realms once more to see what chaos was being caused. It was such a shame that his vacation to another random locale had been disrupted once more.
