The Multiverse

Multi-Dimensional Pathway

74.5 INK

a part of The Multiverse, by Remæus.

A pathway wrought with warped magium, and temporal rifts, a place that is connected to many other areas and dimensions. The path appears as a warped pathway, with trees and shrub littering the sides. But this is the path one would take to get to Oakwood Landing. Being that this is pathway connected to other dimensions, expect to fight to arrive at your destination. You will encounter savage Red-Rimmed Trolls, viscious Blue-Foot Gnomes, a few different breeds of draconic races, etc. The only way to truly escape the path is to have your own destination in mind. So in order to get to Oakwood Landing, you have to be lead by a resident, or someone who has been there before. Otherwise you will end up elsewhere.

EarthWanderer08 holds sovereignty over Multi-Dimensional Pathway, giving them the ability to make limited changes.

Setting

There are many different paths one could take on their journey. But the one TRUE path, is the one that makes you stronger, regardless of destination. The path that YOU choose to go, that has obstacles that fate decides to put you through on your journey. This is the basis of the Multi-Dimensional Pathway. Much like fate, and the path you choose, this is a road, that leads to ALL ROADS. You can get lost on the path forever, or you could walk for 30 seconds and end up where you need to be. The one true fact, and core truth of the Multi-Dimen Path, is that it leads to where you NEED to go. Not always where you WANT to go.

The wonders of this path, is that it can be dangerous, or harmless. This all depends on the principles of a simple formula. The pathway itself is nothing but a space-time overlapping continuum, that interrupts the dynamics of the warped area loop distortion. What that means, is that this is a road that was meant to be a spell to make people walk in circles. But failed, and accidentally warped itself into something that was balanced and greater than anything ever imagined...taking a life of it's own, this being an all connecting road. The interesting thing about the road, is that since it's creation 4000 thousand years ago, its been expanding itself into different dimensions, area, worlds, galaxies, and even time periods. All of this being an accidental bi-product of a prank, from one wizard plotting against another. This is a place of lustrous wonder, for you could find yourself, or anyone else, with the right direction. But realize, in a place so alive, anything is possible, as well as anything could happen.

The Multi-Dimen Pathway has, in effect, taken on a life of it's own. Weaving its will around those walking through it. People who venture through, need know where they are headed. They need a vivid picture in their mind, so that they will end up in the correct place. However, if the Pathway itself, sees the need to place you in an entirely different area/place/galaxy or time period, it is because you need to see something important. But beware, venturing into this pathway, as you should well know, will be challenging for the fact that it overlaps places where dragons, trolls, wayward wizards, criminals, runaways, lost souls, undead, and everything in between, roam. If you are looking to train, do it elsewhere unless you know what you are doing. If you are looking to pass through, have someone with experience doing so, help you along. For you WILL find yourself wishing you had.

"Heralding! Thank god your here...Although I never thought I would say this, I need your help and your the only one that could do it." Nexus picked up the nearly catatonic looking Sheesha who was in severe shock. He would hold her in that normally charming manner, because of the positioning, but right now it was just most comfortable for Sheesha.

"Can you get us out of here? I don't see or sense the pathway anywhere..."

Heralding looked around in mild amusement...

"I suppose I could do that...But why the hell are you in the past? OR did you not know that? You know what, lets discuss this, once we resolve our comfort..."

Heralding waved his hand and a swirling purple vortex appeared. Heralding proceed to walk through. Nexus on his heels with Sheesha in tow.

John Gordo stood in a round clearing with his face raised to the sky and his arms spread, basking in the glow of the sun that flitted through the tree-tops. He smiled even as a cool breeze interrupted the warmth of the sun, truly happy for the first time he could remember since childhood and even those periods in his life had been marked by an unnamable anxiety.

The sound of a crackling fire drew his attention from the sky and he realized he was alone. There was three wagons draped in brightly colored fabric and the pot over the fire was full. The colorful camp was set for an entire troupe and he could not shake the sound of soft singing and bells from his ears. He was just about to say something when the forest suddenly exploded in color.

The trees burst in to a myriad of browns, reds, yellows, and gold and right in front of his eyes, autumn stole the forest. Before he knew it, he had left the clearing behind him. Off in the distance he spotted an impossibly tall, looming figure. It cast an intimidating shadow and while not afraid, John stood in awe of it.

As the shadow retreated, the leaves fell like rain from the trees but he barely noticed. He chased the shadow but no matter how fast he ran it drew away steadily until it was gone. The leaves stopped falling, the trees stood bare and John looked up at the overcast, gray sky. Just then the rain came pouring down and he was running for cover.

He slipped and fell as he ran but the trees seemed to be endless and he was soaked in seconds. When he finally collapsed, covered in mud and out of breath, he looked around and the forest appeared dead. The trees were twisted and gnarled, like great skeletal hands emerging from the dead earth. They reached higher and higher until they were stretched thin and then they were suddenly sucked back in to the ground as if pulled in to Hell.

The ground split around him and the mud was sucked in to the cracks. Jagged rocks rose from the depths and turned in to giant pillars which then turned in to mountains. The dying forest had turned in to a desert but John could not feel the heat even though his mud-crusted clothes were dry. When the pillars and mountains reached their peak, he stood up and aimlessly stumbled forward.

John was so weary that he did not notice the pillars and mountains being shaved down by invisible sculptors. They were shaping in to buildings, some broad and stout while others were tall and narrow. The cracked and broken ground soon turned in to a smooth, paved road and suddenly he was walking through an empty city.

He looked all around as he walked, sweating and breathing anxiously as a feeling of suffocation overcame him. Despite the city being empty, the dull and gray buildings made John feel claustrophobic. But like the trees of the forest and the expanse of the desert, the buildings of this city seemed endless.

Then in the distance he noticed a lithe and beautiful form, twirling and dancing among the dull buildings. She wore a flamboyant and brightly colorful dress that flowed like silk in the wind. He was afraid that if he ran towards her that he would never reach her but he ran anyways. He ran hard and when he drew closer, he grew more and more excited.

Then everything was gone. First it was just the city when mist from the sewers rose up and hid all of the buildings. But then the sky and ground became engulfed in total darkness and if not for the solidity beneath his feet, John would not have been sure if he was standing on anything at all. At last, only the woman in the dress remained and even she and her colors were quickly consumed by darkness and mist.

John wandered through the fog for what could have been only moments or even months but then he saw it, another figure in the distance. This figure was tall and looming like the first but it had long and lithe limbs like the beautiful woman in the city. At first he thought he was moving towards it as the figure became larger but then he realized that he had collapsed from exhaustion long ago.

He looked up just as the figure lurched forward and burst from the fog. Fear, wrath, and sorrow all boiled inside of him as he came face to face with a monster the like which he has never seen or dreamed of. The beast’s snarling visage was enough to make even brave men cry out but Gordo felt more connected with it than anything.

With fangs and black lips dripping saliva, the mouth opened but rather than devour him, the Monster spoke, “Hello, Johnny!”

Nexus arrive at the entrance of the Multi-Dimensional Pathway and looked on as the very upset looking Zandra decided to show and prepared to knock an arrow. He smirked at her comment and decided that it was totally best to warn her first and explain as well.

"This is entrance to what is known as the Multi-Dimensional Pathway. If you want to get to the landing that will be your new home. You must first enter through here, unless giving permission inside the village, to enter in through any other means...Which is to say the village is first protected by very powerful magic. All kinds and sort of layered barriers and connecting endless loop pathways, but the most prominent method of entrance is this one. Yet there is another trap in trying to enter this way."

Nexus drew his sword and pointed in a northern direction along the path. The pathway swirled a bit, and Nexus sheathed his sword as he walked on, tossing a smirk over his shoulder and he indicated to follow.

"You cannot reach Oakwood Landing even through this path, not without first being accompanied by another from the village."

As he lead on, the pathway would change and morph into different endless landscapes an scenes before there eyes. But the pathway would settle on a winding road that lead on through a forest. This forest had far too large trees and all kinds of shadows dashing about it. One would notice a lumbering pack giants in the distance off to the east if they payed attention.

"Well, I'll take you up on that offer."

Nexus continued on as the landscape decided to change before them into a pretty good chance for such things as proving worth.

"Here we go."

The scenery changed to that of a landing that had three baby Dragon-Bears. The landing was wide and vast with grass to be grazed, and giant dragon-flies buzzing about harmelessly around several large oak trees in the distance. It looked to be about 10 acres entirely. But Nexus could see the the Dragon-Bears where searching for some fun.

"Those over there are very scary Dragon-Bears, I'll tell one to attack you and play with you for a while. Hows that? Before you ask, yes, I can speak to anything that has dragon blood, so how about it?"

"Ok then, I'll have you play with the brown one."

Just ask Nexus said this, the brown and gold Dragon-Bear looking their direction, it had golden pupils and slits that looked fairly vicious. It roared and blew hot flaming breath. The baby DB was only around 8 feet tall, with small wings around 4 feet. But it had razor sharp claws that could tear through most metal. The claws came poisonous, but Nexus told the bear not to bring the poison to the tip. They also had skin stronger than most metal that isn't acid tipped. However, these bears were still fledgling, and not combat experienced.

The bear lunged at Zandra with it claws out stretched, ready to strike her across the torso. Nexus flash-stepped 20 feet away. If Zandra noticed the speed, she wasn't paying attention, because she looked utterly focused.

Alex was ready as she watched the large Dragon-Bear come rushing towards her. She took deep breath and launched her arrow just as the DB grazed her torso with it's claws. She stepped back in pain as her torso began to bleed. She set her arrow off to the side before gathering a huge fireball in her hands and launching it at the bear. She breathed in pain as she watched the fireball soar through the air.

The Dragon-Bear looked at the fireball in a dazed amusement. It couldn't comprehend magic yet, for it was still young and not exposed to such things yet. The DB was caught in the nose, and racked it with it's big paws. The layered scales on it's back bristled and churn as it roared, he then sent 30 large scales hurling into the air, targeting Zandra in a rage.

"You better look out! You went and AGRROED a baby!!!" Nexus yelled and chuckled.

Alex smirked as the DB sent about 30 scales into the air in a rage. She breathed again in pain as her chest hurt more with each minute that passed. She stepped back as she watched the scales come closer to her. She focused for a moment and then dodged the scales except one that ended up hitting her shoulder. "Ouch! Stop yelling I have the situation under control!" She laughed as she turned back to face the bear in front of her.

Nexus watched in a amusement. "I can help if you want!!! If you do something reckless, you'll end up facing a bigger one!! The playmates over there are watching with interest now!"

Nexus leaped over the entire fight, and landed next to the other baby cubs. He patted one on the head and looked on with a smirk as the esteemed Zandra fabulously dodged all the scales but one. The Dragon-Bear seemed to enjoy that and sent 30 more flying, in which it decided to charge in right afterwards. Leaving no room to recuperate. He was moving fast, but it looked like he was going to go for something a bit more drastic, as he geared up for a flaming breath to breathe.

"No I'm okay! I got this!" She screamed then as the Dragon-Bear launched 30 more scales and then rushed towards her. She stopped then for a moment as she let him come towards her and then at the last second she slid under him. She breathed a sigh of relief and pain as she finally looked at the scale in her shoulder. She took a deep breath as she turned around to face Nex. "You know I actually could use some help. My shoulder is killing me and my chest is bleeding still! If I continue this stupid fight I'm gonna end up dead!" She yelled as she grew angry at him for putting through this damn test.

"Fine."

Nexus flash-stepped in front of her, with an incredible show of speed, and looked on as the little cub came rushing in and breath fire.

Nexus put up a lightning barrier around the two, and watched as the hot fire scorched the barrier without any damage to them or it.

"I advise you focusing on a flameball large enough to engulf it, then run towards it's side and push really hard. You have the power to do more than that puny flame I saw."

Nexus pulled the scale out of her shoulder, and place a healing rune on her chest. He then gently grabbed her hand and looked her in the eye with his glowing blue eyes.

"Concentrate. Believe in your magic."

He released the barrier, and flash-stepped to the other cubs that were no roughing each other up in excitement.

"Go for it! Your healed now!"

Alex groaned as Nex flashed to her side and placed a huge barrier around them. She breathed a sigh of relief as he healed her and told her to concentrate on her magic. She took a deep breath as the barrier came down and he flashed away. "Alright let's finish this." she whispered to herself as she closed her eyes and concentrated with everything she had. She opened her eyes and released her fireball at the creature before her. The fireball was massive and bigger than anything she had created before. She turned to look at Nex a grin on her face and her blue eyes glowing with excitement. "Thanks for the help! I never realized i could make a fireball that big!" she laughed as she turned to face the beast again and launched another two fireballs in rapid succession.

The beast growled and groaned, but did nothing against the fire, it just buffeted back and looked at Nexus for help. Nexus told him to attack one last time to finish the boat. The Dragon-Bear looked on, and dodged one last fireball. He charged in again and this time, attack with a sweep of it's 8 foot long spike tail, hoping to get her legs.

"This is it! Go for it's sides!"

Nexus yelled as he was ready to intercept the tail if she failed to jump or stop it.

Alex yelled out in irritation as the beast dodged her fireball and swept its tail towards her. She jumped over it tail while launching a flaming arrow at the beast's sides and then immediately launched another fireball at the same place. "Take that!" she yelled as she stood there panting in exhaustion. She looked over at Nex with a smirk as she finally stood up. "See I told you I was an amazing fighter!"

Nexus looked on as everything unfolded. He was smiling and clapping as she dodged the tail with a leap and through a fabulous display of archery, nick the cub right between it's armor, and sending a fireball...in MIDAIR.

"Impressive." Nexus stated with a smile.

He looked at the Dragon-Bear who seemed to be slowly getting confused and frustrated with the game that was being played. But instead of crying out in anger, it seemed to whine in pleasure and happiness. Nexus telepathically communicated for the last time with it, telling it to come over to where he was standing. The Dragon-Bear limped over, and Nexus removed the arrow, and healed the Dragon-Bear cub with several runes, for it's recovery and protection.

"Thanks buddy." He said as he petted the cub. He bid farewell to them as they moaned for his attention, but he walked over to the fairly exhausted looking Zandra.

"You did well, I'll fix you up, since you still have no grasp of management of magic reserves, or MANA, for whoever else is asking or listening." Nexus sent another healing rune onto her chest, and invoked a verbal healing regeneration spell that would stay with her to heal her reserves for the rest of the day.

"Ok then, I'll ask you what you learned as we head on. Also, if you want to see me action. But first, you seem to be at a very beggining level of magic. Which is the reason you don't know your output. We'll train to improve that. But, what did you learn, and what do you wish to learn or see?"

Nexus walked on, looking as the pathway changed from the lustrous scene with the Dragon-Bears, to the same misty dark forest they where on minutes before.
