"We humbly thank you for your generosity, Your Imperial Majesty," said McMorrow, offering another bow from the waist. She was beginning to wonder how long they would be required to remain on Niihama before they would be permitted to return. The sooner she could return to that glass of wine she'd been nursing, and the sooner they could make their way back to the designated rendezvous point, the better it would be for all of them. McMorrow looked forward to bringing the news of Taiyou support to the Council. She kept her eyes on the ground for now, though, in a show of obeisance to the Taiyou Emperor. "And we will do everything within our means to ensure that your wife is returned safely here."

The Taiyou Empire was a massive, sprawling Empire that consumed a good portion of this sector of the Galaxy. Upon arrival to Taiyou space, the Coalition would have been greeted by a singular Taiyou diplomatic envoy. Of course, having been informed of the Coalition's arrival, a small Taiyou ship party would be there to greet them. The Movements through Taiyou space, especially the Ni system would be well controlled, and Coalition ships would be greeted by an immense crowded solar system, easily Billions of ships coming and going from this hive of activity, all moving through tightly controlled lanes of traffic. The well-organized space lanes snaked around various astronomical objects, into Hyperspace Gates, and ultimately to various portions of the Empire itself.

Niihama's Space elevators seemed to be reserved for Military use, but the catapult launch system used to propel Taiyou ships into orbit, had been modified to accomodate the Coalition ships. As they were escorted through, they would be given the option to bring their ships on one of Niihama City's specialized landing approaches, which calculated trajectory based on the ship's mass, size and shape. Indeed off in the distance, a Shogun battleship was seen descending into the atmosphere for landing.

The Taiyou had made the decision for them, reserving one of the Space Elevators extending up from Niihama City, the Coalition ship would be allowed to dock with one of the massive Taiyou space anchorages attached to the elevator.

The Coalition delegation would be greeted in the orbital anchorage by the infamous Taiyou princess

Yukiko Takayama had been quietly standing there, alongside the infamous Taiyou Prime Minister, Yoko Kayabuki, both of them offering a slight bow.

"Welcome to Niihama, the nerve center of the AXIS, and the entire Taiyou Empire." Niihama's Sprawling urban landscape would be quite evident, even from orbit.

; As the Coalition vessel, the CNS Wayline Ministry, entered its individual docking station the Coalition personnel onboard were readied in a matter of minutes after having left their Isogen jump. While the Wayline Ministry was unlike any other Coalition naval ship seen, the Minnies’ 6km keel was encased in a single bright ocean blue stripe that went up along its massive engine block that broke away into a fan.
“This is the CNS Wayline Ministry, clarify to Taiyou Groundside Control we are operating as Coalition One, over, Coalition One inbound.”

Coalition One was the official name for any vehicle that ever carried the Prime Minister at any point in time, and despite the fact this had been Regievko’s tenth time on the Wayline Ministry, Regievko still felt this vessel was lacking in the display of power he would wish the Coalition known for.
“Alright people, let’s get ready to make some history ... yeah?” Regievko said with a little smile to a delegation of men and women dressed in business suits, before a pair of marine guards were seen standing at the last checkpoint through the hull of the starship. As the Scattterrans disembarked the vessel, one of the first individuals seen would be the olive-drab figure of General Had-Medeen, his facemask in rest position around his neck as he strode ahead of the delegation towards the Princess.

“Lady Takayama, please to see you again after so long ... “

The Taiyou Princess slowly inclined her head, and offered a slight bow, the Prime Minister of the Empire, and every Taiyou in the corridor followed suit. "We're making history this day, my friends." She said, having spent so long on Niihama, her accent had returned. "We'll be going to the Space Elevator down to the surface, it will give you a chance to see our city." The young Taiyou explained, as the Imperial Guard snapped to attention, a sergeant heard screaming in Taiyou as the Princess began to start towards the end of the corridor, which held a large space elevator designed to accommodate personnel.

"My Father is eager to meet you, and though normally, foreign diplomats are subject to our cultural rules while on Niihama, I will only ask that out of respect for our culture, your people do not make eye contact with my father, or keep your heads higher than his when standing, I also ask that if he bows, you bow deeper to him, don't take this the wrong way, it is merely a.. cultural institution, and a polite request, we will.. not force your people of course to do anything they don't wish, but, the Emperor gauges a civilization on how observant they are of his our customs." Yukiko explained, leading them to the Elevator.

"The Emperor is hosting a state dinner for you and your Delegation, Mr. Prime Minister, you will be offered a tour of Niihama City, and a Military Parade will be held in your honor." The Princess continued.

"Lastly, out of acknowledgement for this monumentous occasion, you will be allowed to meet and address the AXIS as a whole, if you so choose."

After Yukiko's badly spoken english monologue, they would have arrived at the space elevator, rows of chairs with seat belts lined up around large windows were seen.

"For your safety, please being asked to buckling safety devices and remaining sitting for duration of descent." One of the Taiyou engineers in the Elevator room said, of course, also in bad english.

; As Had-Medeen waved another olive-drab uniform over to him, the delegation continued onward with Regievko leading it at a striding pace. While he was moving amongst them, the Hykan was inclined to avoid the four suited men that would constantly attempt to surround him at nearly all times, as this was happening Regievko stopped as the Scatterrans and Taiyou reached the elevator platform. He spoke into a small interface he held in his hand, looking away and moving his lips with a simple movement before he was joining the group at the elevator.

“The Prime Minister has been studying a derivative of your language in the hopes of recognizing the characters,” Had-Medeen remarked under his breath, the facemask obscuring his voice slightly with his proximity to the Princess as they entered the elevator. As the massive machinery began to move and accelerate, the Scatterrans in the platform looked contentedly at home remembering orbital harbors on their own worlds.

“I’m glad that we are finally here, Princess Takayama, but also that we are here in good faith.” Regievko finally said, speaking from a window that looked out over the immense cityscape that soon took the breath of the dozen Scatterrans crowded into the platform near one another. As Regievko stood with his back to the window he made a gesture over his shoulder to the view below. “There has not been a time in our people’s history where we have journeyed to another people so far, Princess. Not in our record of history at least.”

[color=black]The City scape below them was massive, seeming to spread as far as the eye could see, towering mega-tokyo style skyscrapers, built upon eachother and stretching high into the Atmosphere. The Elevator clunked audibly, and it began to freefall towards the surface. As the elevator made it's descent, aircraft could be made swooping past, clouds mingling with skyscrapers seen below as they continued to fall. The Princess slowly swiveled in her chair. "If you choose, I can provide someone to translate the characters for you, or provide the translations in text." Takayama explained, as the elevator continued it's descent, passing through a layer of clouds, which could deceive a person looking down that, it was the ground.

Once below the clouds, a shimmering, flashing, illuminated sprawl of a city shimmered below them, rain pattering the glass as the elevator slowed it's descent. By now, buildings were puncturing the clouds above, rather than below, the streets, both on the ground and suspended above them were crowded with cars, bicycles and people. Once the elevator came to a stop, the glass doors would open out into the rain, where Taiyou handmaidens rushed to provide the princess with an umbrella, and set up a covered walkway to a waiting Botanachi DRHC Tilt rotor aircraft which was idling in the distance.

"From, what I understand of Scatterran history, the only people to venture outside your galaxy is the Belkans, during the exodus, and that this is the first time Scatterrans from the Coalition of Nations has ventured outside.

"This Helicopter will take us to the Palace, where my father will greet you." All in all, the other Taiyou in the delegation remained silent, culture was evident, even the Princess was treated with reverence, with people bowing to her every move.

It was like Niihama was a place, where past and present met. The stench of gasoline engines permeating the area, and the smell from the DRHC's kerosene and alcohol engines quite evide

; “For sixteen million years this world does not see their own kind, they are banished away into their hole of Scatter because of their resistance to our rule,” While Regievko repeated the scripture a few of the Scatterrans could be seen touching the windows as their eyes fell over the steel land around them and the larger continent below them. As the General looked at another officer in the lift with them, identified as a Colonel by his insignia, stood near Takayama as they exited the elevator and were directed to embark upon the tilt-rotor.

“The Prime Minister and the delegation will be ready to meet your father as soon as they disembark the aircraft ... Princess Takayama I have military issues to provide with the Emperor and the Taiyou assembly for their interpretation. Who may I speak to to facilitate a work transfer while the rest of the international matters continue?”

As the officer was speaking, Had-Medeen and the security detail of Coalition plainclothes soldiers occupied the Taiyou tilt-rotor, quickly loading the rest of the delegation and taking in last Regievko and then Had-Medeen.
“The Belkans left our planet in ships that constituted buckets by our standards today, Princess. Your Emperor has been in a realm where our kind have only dreamed of going for ... millions of years.”

Yukiko offered a slight shrug to the Colonel. "You might want to bring up the work transfer issues with Admiral Yamamoto." She said, climbing into the craft, while Kayabuki and her small cabinet approached an adjacent craft which began to lift off shortly after.

"The Emperor will meet with the Prime Minister, while you should address the Military matters with the Admiral." Yukiko explained, as the helicopter soared over Niihama's landscape, approaching a large stone tower which had the Imperial Palace, a traditional looking Japanese building that appeared to be straight out of the feudal age, with it's wooden structuring and glowing orange lanterns. As the Craft touched down, a large, lavish sedan chair that was carried by at least twenty people, surrounded by Imperial warriors slowly approached the craft, and Yukiko quickly disembarked, bowing at her knees before her father, several other Taiyou following suit, the rain lapping at the craft.

Nobuo 'Tatsu' Takayama slowly approached Regievko, as he moved from the Sedan Chair, of course. As a slave quickly held an umbrella over his head, and people knelt on all fours to provide human stairs for the Emperor to step down upon, another Taiyou rolling carpet beneath his feet, the Emperor slowly walking towards Regievko, surveying him for a moment.

"It is an honor to finally meet the Prime Minister of a nation of your caliber." He said, extending his hand, trying to conform slightly to the Scatterran's culture. "I apologize if I am not in the best of moods, but my wife was kidnapped by the Aschen, and they refuse to return her." He explained, before he gestured to the Palace. "I have accommodations for you and all your men, or you may choose to stay in Niihama City's many hotels, it will be my pleasure to accommodate you any way you see fit." The Emperor said, as he began to walk, Taiyou placing towels and rugs under his feet, to keep his shoes from getting muddy.

"I must ask, that when you enter my home, you remove your shoes, slippers will be provided." The Emperor added, approaching the wooden steps leading to the main doors of the Palace.

As a Taiyou whispered in his ear, the Emperor nodded slightly. "You also mention Military matters that need to be brought to my attention? I am aware of the Aschen situation in your Galaxy, but I am afraid the Empire cannot intercede without the blessing from the AXIS."

; The Colonel was quick to relay the information to a secondary team as Regievko and the others departed. Had-Medeen stood by Regievko in the bay of the aircraft as it traveled, when they both got up to walk to a spot and exchange some words together, they moved slowly to conserve time before they arrived. “We’ll be ready to exchange while the delegation continues.”

“It’s been a time since I’ve had any conference with the Emperor -- I have to apologize, Princess, as the most recent coordinations have not been yet observed by me directly, these days I’m dedicated to more different aspects of this government than speaking to our allies.” Regievko said apologetically while the Taiyou aircraft was descending, as the reception at the palace continued the Prime Minister came face to face with the Taiyou Emperor and the man bowed his shoulders, the other Scatterrans in the delegation offering curt bows and connected palms, despite the obvious appearance as tourists.

“It’s an honor to be received in a nation as grand as this, Emperor, and to also know that even in these times of war there are a people who are not tainted with nationalism and supremacy.” Regievko said as the mood of the situation began to cool, and the Hykan quickly pulled up his pants to remove his shoes. As the other Scatterrans followed they were hardly concerned about the lack of shoes while in the presence of the palace and it’s people; several reporters and correspondents of entities within the Coalition were now appealing to other members of the Taiyou delegation, leaving Had-Medeen and Regievko to speak with the Emperor.

“Yes, Emperor. As a Union, the military arm that will just as quickly recover against the Aschen as they’ve made upon us ... but this must be achieved with logical, precise movements and clear, decisive maneuvers, Emperor.”

The Emperor inclined his head slightly. "Though I admire your willingness to bring peace and prosperity to the galaxy, as I said before my hands are tied until I can convince the rest of the AXIS that a disarmed Aschen would benefit all." Takayama explained, as he led the men through the ancient building, which had all the trappings of a medieval Japanese building, but fitted with modern amenities. "The Original Imperial Palace, a building that was ten thousand years old, was destroyed in an unfortunate Hataf attack that left our Empire marred and broken, this one, though modernized, is built to resemble the old Palace.. it saddens me though.. the Imperial Palace was the symbol of our Imperial Longevity, a lineage that has existed since Emperor Taisho in the founding of our civilization, the man that united a nation that would conquer a Galaxy." Takayama explained, gesturing to a Sumi-e painting of an ancient Taiyou Emperor sitting upon a throne.

"Unlike the Aschen Empire, which shames and desecrates the sacred title of Emperor, with a madman that would declare himself dictator and abuse his people, the Taiyou Empire strives on the work of the common man towards the greater goal, I pride myself on leading my civilization to glorious prosperity for all sentience, regardless of species, race, or national Origin."

The Emperor led the Regievko into a large room, filled with ancient Taiyou artifacts.

"Given enough time, any man may master the physical. With enough knowledge, any man may become wise. It is a true warrior who can master both." The Emperor explained, before he looked about to the men.

"What role, would a nation as far away from you as ours, play in your vision? Prime Minister?"

; Regievko followed him with his hands around his back as he went with the Taiyou Emperor. As the discussion turned to the Aschen they were left alone while Had-Medeen handled much of the delegation’s inquiries and responses to and from the Taiyou and Scatterrans. When they continued, Regievko worked his hands around the interface device that wrapped around his wrist to make carrying easier. “There are things we have all lost in these years since Emperor, but don’t think millions of light years separates suffering. We have lost great things, to Aschen, Belkans, Soviets before, but so have they and there might be a chance that men like you and me, men who people follow for their ideals of righteousness and purity, can change the process of nationalism and fascism rising in people’s blinded by war.”

As Regievko continued to walk, he tried to near himself to the Emperor when he began speaking through the corner of his mouth, while he did he motioned at the Taiyou artifacts on the walls to identify the oldest of the constructs that were around them.
“We are different in breed but of not species, Emperor Takayama. Both your kind and ours were the type who were forced to chose between living as a meaningless insect or truly capturing the power of the human spirit. What has been created here is a testament that opposes everything the Aschen seek to destroy in the Coalition, the AXIS here.”

Nobuo 'Tatsu' Takayama inclined his head slowly and deliberately. "There are good people among the Aschen too, my wife was a woman once blinded by their hatred and their ignorance, but during her time spent here, her eyes were opened and she worked to better not only the Empire, but those around us. However, not a night goes by where she does not awaken in night, weeping for her sins, like every Aschen whom has wronged their brothers should." The Emperor explained, standing beside a tarnished Katana.

"The Zion wars however, truely saw our liberation from magic and superstition, from ancient beings that would seek to enslave us, those in this galaxy were not fortunate to have the strong will of Scatterrans to free them from the oppression of the Precursors, we broke their irons ourselves, and for it we have known suffering." The Emperor nodded solemnly.

"Speaking with you here has also opened my eyes, in the time you were traveling from your home, to ours, I have studied your people and your culture extensively, and I have learned that Scatterrans should not be a people to direct our ignorance and hatred towards, I learned, that the Taiyou Empire, and the Coalition, despite our immeasurable distance, are more alike than many of my more conservative advisers care to admit, a common ground which will foster a friendship the Ancients themselves would tremble before."

She did not want to wake. She could hear their voices. His shadow, His shadow. Always his shadow. She did not want to wake into the dream that she knew it had been. It had to have been. She could not bear that crushing disappointment of remembering and realizing all at once that none of it was real, none of it had been real. She could not give herself permission to believe it, to allow herself pleasure in the dream. If she did, they would know, and they would punish her. She did not know how much longer she could survive them, but the dream was too strong a temptation. She could not allow herself to escape to it, to escape to a world in which she was free of them. Waking into the dream could prove too dangerous to be worth the experience.

But she woke. Her eyes slid open, staring blankly at the unadorned ceiling. It smelled of antiseptic and air freshener, all combined together in a sickening cocktail. She could hear voices from the hallway, though she did not understand them. She hadn't understood any of the dream-people in a while. They spoke that strange, voweled language, the one that sounded like Japanese and reminded her of Anime shows. She had tried to speak to them, tried to form words, to at least say something, anything. But they hadn't understood her, or else they were ignoring her, and they hurried past her room, leaving her alone in the bed with the white sheets. There was a monotone cushioned chair pushed against the wall, presumably for visitors or a medical resident accompanying a physician. Her icon of Saint Sava was missing. Her fingers fluttered for the thousandth time toward her neck only to find herself reminded of its absence. She was a stranger in her own body. Her hair was missing, replaced with short stubble in some places around her head, and her cheeks had hollowed to the point where she had taken one look in the mirror on the opposite wall and had not recognized the stranger staring back at her.

She slipped from the sheets of the bed with obvious effort, leaning on trembling arms as she let her feet hit the floor, and shuffled toward the chair, which had been conveniently placed by the window. Through the cleaned glass, she could see Niihama's skyline. The buildings were pristine, glinting in the sun, with hardly any hint of the damage done them by Hataf. She was not sure when the dream was supposed to be and no one could tell her. She was not sure what they would think, the Terran authority, when asked to explain her absence from the office in Government Center. And they would ask. They always asked. Her feet were almost silent over the tiled floor of the hospital room. Her arms and legs were wan and frail, thin to the bone as they poked awkwardly from the sleeves and hem of her light-colored hospital gown. She stared through the window as she lowered herself into the chair, her arms and legs alike trembling with the exertion, and pulled the hem of her hospital gown lower to cover her knees. It draped shapelessly over her thin shoulders, hiding her stomach where her ribs were visible beneath the skin, but not the numbers cruelly tattooed on the flesh on the back of her neck.

She did not understand the dream, why her movements were sluggish and exerted, why she looked a stranger to herself, why she was in a Taiyou hospital surrounded by strangers who would not or could not speak to her. But at least they were no longer there, not while she was awake in the dream. For all its inexplicable flaws, she was free of them. And so she sat in the chair by the window, leaning on the windowsill as she watched Niihama’s sun peep its first rays over the horizon of the Taiyou homeworld. She hadn’t watched a sunrise in a long time, either in the dream or on her ravaged Terra where every move she made and every word she spoke was carefully monitored and recorded to craft a list of her transgressions against the absolute state. But even a dreamed sunrise was beautiful. It reminded her of Priština on a September morning.

There was an audible chime, the sound of a door opening. But there was not a creak or the sound of aging door hinges. The open door gave way to the flurry of activity just beyond the door, the hallway, the sound of patients screaming. Newborns crying in the nearby delivery room. That was all silenced as soon as the door shut behind the man. If one would gaze upon him, they would see a man taller than most Taiyou, a large imposing man with broad shoulders, a toned body, and a well sculpted face. That face was largely obscured by a neatly groomed mustache, a scruffy beard, and a pair of dark, almost opaque narrow frame sunglasses that hid the man's gaze. The light of Niihama's sun played on his features, giving him an imposing almost authoritarian feel, the light glistened off of his visitor's badge, his silver epaulettes, and his shined boots.

The sun also revealed a dark blue asian style outfit, with a typical Japanese standing collar, with two collar pins, and no lapel. Worn over this was a white lab coat, with two epaulettes that glistened with silver, and his name badge.

The man's movements were slow and deliberate, hands relaxed at his side, his eyes focused on the woman before him.

The silence was broken by the sound of chair legs scraping against the waxed floor, the man pulled up a chair to Drulovic's left, and he slowly lowered himself into it, angling to the window and the woman in front of him, a diagonal positioning.

"Arianne Drulovic." The man said, pronounced with the lilt of a Japanese accent, the warping of the 'r' and the 'l' and the emphasis on the E.

"My name is Seno Miyagi, I've been assigned by the Emperor to help you through this rough transition." He said calmly, Emperor, whatever happened to His Shadow?

She heard the sound of the chime and the momentary rush of cacophony from beyond the doors, followed by the almost inaudible sound of the door closing and footsteps approaching. She watched the Taiyou man approach her, her tired gaze falling from his face to his clothing. So he, too, was part of the dream. The hint of a wan smile appeared at the corners of her lips as he took the other chair and dragged it to where she was sitting, leaving little scuff marks on the blue-green tiles. Her half-sunken eyes returned to his face, meeting his.

"I remember you, Mr. Miyagi." The words slipped through her lips, her voice sounding almost as if she did not quite remember how to speak, though she could not hear the hoarse, halting quality in her own speech. "We met some time before, several years ago, I think. You've been to Terra, as I recall." She laid her hands flat over her lap, one hand over the other, leaning back a bit in her seat to watch the taller man. Why was he part of the dream?

Are you aware of the state of Terra and the Aschen Empire?" He said, taking some notes and writing things down as he analyzed the woman before him.

"Have you been eating? Sleeping well?" He said, looking up to her, and gauging her demeanor and her reaction to his statements.

"I'm afraid I don't know what you mean, Mr. Miyagi," she replied, maintaining an impassive expression. Did he mean the waking world or the dreaming one? She did not want to think about the waking world and she did not know in the dreaming world. Maybe it was the same, only she had been spirited away, beyond their grasp. "Terra has been part of the Aschen Empire for over two decades now. I imagine little has changed." She stared through the window, fingers tapping idly against the glass, leaving little impressions from the oils on her skin. "Niihama is still beautiful, though the world could do well with a few more trees." She traced a circle on the glass, her eyes narrowing slightly. "I'm afraid I haven't been in some time, though."

Seno Miyagi shook his head, taking some notes. "You have been suspended in an Aschen virtual reality for the last year, the Aschen Invasion of Terra was no more than maybe two years, with Scatterran withdrawal not more than eight months ago, they've tricked you into thinking they had absolute control, though I don't understand for what purpose." Miyagi explained.

"You're on Niihama right now, you're free from them, free from the Aschen, and the Empire itself is on the verge of collapse." He gestured to the television across the room from them.

"The Aschen people have been revolting against the state, they're trying to bring back the old Confederation, trying to push the withdrawal from Terra."

Her muscles went rigid, her jawline tightening. So the dream was not a dream after all. It was some terrible, cruel torture. Some trick. Her fingers paused against the glass of the window. She closed her eyes for a moment before her eyelids slid upward again, staring through the windowpane as the sun danced across the glass of Niihama's skyscrapers, creating ripples and swaths of light over the city. She did not understand why they had taken her here to do this, what had happened between. Had they come for her in her office in Government Center, only to take her here? It was an evaluation. A test. Their last attempt to completely break her.

"No, Mr. Miyagi. I'm done. You can tell them I'm done with their mind games."

Seno Miyagi shook his head and he took some notes. "Stockholm's syndrome." He said calmly, before he looked up to Drulovic. "Very well, I'm going to show you some ink stains, and I want you to tell me the first thing that comes to your mind when you see them." He said, shuffling through some papers, before he held up the first in a series of ink blots.

"Tell me what you see." Miyagi said.

"No, Mr. Miyagi. I refuse to pander to your games. I don't care for your -- whatever it is you're doing. I don't care for it at all." Her lips drew into a tightly pressed, thin line, her gaze hardening as she stared through the window. She hardly moved, unblinking, and might have been a statue but for her speech. "You can tell them I'm uncooperative. You can tell them I'm a heretic. Go ahead, do whatever you like with them, but leave me be. They can have my head if they want it. His shadow knows it's been long enough coming." They watched her and they waited, waiting for her to slip even once. Even here, she was sure they were watching. She was sure they were there.

Seno Miyagi made a face, before he folded up the papers and he slid them into his briefcase. "Alright, you're still not well." He said, slowly rising up to his feet. "Unfortunately we can't send you back to the Terran Government until you've been re-integrated to the real world." He said, turning to the door. "I'll recommend you be placed in observation until a more permanent placement can be determined." He said as he slowly started to walk out, shaking his head he knew it would be a long road, and as he reached the door, Shaw would be there to greet him. Seno would offer a nod. "Kogo Heika.." He said, inclining his head.

"Go ahead and see her, but she's pretty far gone." He said, before he turned to leave.

Kendra Shaw stepped in after Seno, to see Drulovic sitting in the chair, the door hissing shut behind her.

"Hello, Arianne." She said, moving through the room, slowly approaching the chair Seno had been sitting in. Shaw just stared at her, she didn't look much different than when Kendra had pulled her out of the tank.

"It's a shame to see you like this.. I have some tea brewing, where would you like it?"
