Setting
- An actual amusement park complete with roller coasters and a ferris wheel among many other attractions.
- Two sports arenas for such classics as baseball, football, tennis, hockey, basketball, and other such things.
- A theater where one can both watch live musicals played by Pokemon or movies filmed straight from Pokestar Studios for a modest price.
- The local gym, where one can expect to find live music and beautiful women presenting themselves on a catwalk, courtesy of the gym's leader: Elesa. Also the occasional heated pokemon battle~
"Man, that was pretty bad," Maxin told him earnestly and with humor in his tone to indicate he meant no hard feelings, "But that's why I don't get BMX bikes." He began to unfold his own to ride for the long journey to Driftveil.
Meanwhile, Snips was taking note of Radgeast's seemingly distant interaction...like his mind was clouded with thoughts and burdens for the future. Something that Maxin might have noticed as well had it not been for the bikes and that was a good thing. Snips had a different way to do things than to call him out on it. He knew in the end, Radgeast would make whatever decision he deemed necessary to make. After all, it wasn't the Servine's job to tell him where to go. It definitely wasn't Maxin's either.
"Snips, are you okay?" Liam approached him from behind.
"Yeah, just thinking is all..." he replied, "I think we're about to head out, by the way."
Liam nodded before running up to Maxin and tapping his foot, then tapping the PokeBall on his waist, indicating he wanted in.
"Oh...sure then," Maxin pulled out the PokeBall and opened it, engulfing Liam with red light before he disappeared inside. Dalia also waddled up and went inside her own. Maxin then held up Snips's PokeBall.
"Your choice, buddy," he called out to the Servine.
Snips didn't need to hesitate and think. He wanted to rest for this leg of the journey, especially after taking the brunt of the Gym Fight against Elesa. Plus he wasn't worried anymore about Maxin being a bad trainer. The boy had more than proven himself otherwise. He trusted him.
"Alright, let me in," Snips held his arms out, ready to be taken. The red light engulfed his body and he was in the PokeBall. Maxin placed his starter on his belt before climbing onto his bike and shifting the gears to an appropriate speed for a flat city landscape.
"To Driftveil then?" he said to Radegast and Skyva, pointing his bike towards the northwest end of town where the beginning of Route 5 lay in wait for them.
She slowly rolled next to the two boys, "Driftveil? Sounds like a plan to me, boys." She giggled smiling at the two. Skyva had never been to this city before, heck she never been on this side of Ruula to begin with. Her smile was bright, but her thoughts were not. Half of her loved the adventure and the other was drowning in worry. What if someone tried to take her babies? "Over my dead body." She mentally said to the dark thoughts.
"Ready?" She said cheerfully.
Continued in...
Fluff flew over the city, following the group.
Back at Pitch's Lookout, everyone began to relax for the first time that day. Fluff likely had no problem carrying Glow and Aurora to the rooftop entrance although there was likely a struggle carrying Mud. Zap likely followed Pitch through the same entrance they had taken before. All in all, everyone was inside and safe for now at least.
Pitch's mind was moving a mile a minute, searching through his stockpile of supplies and seeing if any of the Pokemon they had encountered before had taken anything...or worse, Castol and his goonies. Luckily, apart from a Pecha Berry and a couple Oran Berries, nothing of significance was gone. But that was just the surface stuff. Pitch knew he could replace those items in a matter of a day. What he was worried about was the item he couldn't replace.
"C'mon, where is it? Where is it?" Pitch's muttering quickened as he sifted through the chest, pulling out items he had gathered during his adventures he'd had in Nimbasa. A Spiky Helmet went whizzing past Mud, a Black Belt past Aurora. As he searched, he began to get more and more panicked.
Zap started hiding some food, making sure the stockpile was secure.
"This is my key," he explained to everyone, "It leads to something...I've had with me for a while. It's incredibly valuable and extremely rare, so I keep it hidden and secure. Now I trust you guys, but I need your word that any information about this never leaves this room. Under any circumstance. This is too important." Pitch was worried mainly about Fluff, given that he didn't know much about her. It seemed that Glow was fine with her presence, so he didn't push the matter. But he was going to make sure everyone was on board with not telling anyone about it before he showed them. It was his most guarded secret, after all.
He bounded over towards a seemingly uninteresting empty bookshelf in the corner of the room and began to scale it, "You have to understand. It carries a lot of sentimental value to me, but others only see it as a source of power. I can't let this fall in the wrong hands." Now on top of the bookshelf, he made his way towards a certain items that was covered by a thin sheet. It looked as inconspicuous as anything else was on that shelf, the frayed fabric matching the run-down aesthetic of the room and of the building in general. Pitch was actually relieved to see it undisturbed. He hid it well.
He nudged the sheet aside, revealing a small safe in surprisingly pristine condition. It was the luckiest thing Pitch had ever come across, discovering it in the abandoned building they currently occupied, somehow not nearly as dusty as anything else...almost like the technology behind it kept it in perfect condition to be used. Pushing the safe off the top of the bookshelf, Pitch watched it hit the soft bundle of pillows and blankets below and followed suit. He landed in the bundle, disappearing inside. There was a bit of movement coming from the bundle and Pitch popped out, a little bit of blanket resting upon his head. He shook it off.

But he hesitated, his paw hovering over the spin dial. Worries began to cross him mind in rapid succession. What if I'm doing the wrong thing? Pitch thought, What if these people can't be trusted? What if someone was watching, waiting to snatch this thing up? What if Castol came by, or Dim, or the other two faction leaders in Nimbasa? His gaze shifted to the Altaria uncertainly. She was the newest addition and thus the least trusted member of the team. But still a member of the team regardless.
Was it worth showing anyone?
Pitch's paw continued to hover over the dial, unsure what to do. His mind was racing. His breathing quickened. His heart rate exploded into a frenzy. The small wave of panic was building inside him. He'd gone so long trusting these people, even risking his life for their safety and vice versa. Was it all just an act? Were they about to plot against him?
And then a sturdy voice took control in his head, banishing the fears and concerns that were in his mind with a single two letter word: No.
This was different. Glow and Pitch helped each other through thick and thin. Even if they were only together for three days, the Umbreon had proven herself a part of his life he couldn't live without. He'd grown attached. And Pitch could sense the mutuality in her as well. Zap was the same way. They endured Dim's wrath together, bonding over the frightening experience. All the while, the two helped each other through tight spots, becoming friends literally overnight. It had been so long since Pitch had a friend.
Not to mention Mud and Aurora, who seemed grateful to be united with their family. And even Fluff, who had yet to prove herself but had yet to show herself as an evil being of any sort. They trusted one another. They were there for each other at some point or another. Pitch could feel it in the air, the warm bond between all of them. It was an air of trust. And Pitch wasn't going to break it anytime soon.
His paw came down, resting softly on the dial. He spun it left a bit, stopping on the number 35 before he began spinning it the other way. After coming to a stop on 6, he only had to move it left slightly. A soft audible click could be heard as it rested on the number 14. Pitch nudged the latch, watching the safe's door open softly, revealing a silver-like glow from inside. Pitch backed away a tiny bit so that the others could get a better view.
The Orb that rested within was one of a kind. The others would likely notice that much. It almost looked transparent, like a diamond with uncut edges, except it was circular shaped and the color looked almost like clouded glass. It seemed to shine and glitter within it's confines, a gorgeous sight to see.
"I don't know what it is. I just know it was the last thing my mom was carrying before she disappeared," Pitch explained, "And other Pokemon want it."
Zap looked at the shiny orb, tempted to touch it. "So, no clue what the heck it does?"
Fluff noticed the concerned look on Pitch's face. About me, I suppose. Her wings twitched. This place felt small and cramped to her.
Aurora looked at the orb, admiring the beautiful glow. It shone like a star.
Mud watched Pitch open the safe curiously. When he saw the glittering orb, he just watched the others, not sure what to say.
There was a dark, tingly feeling in the back of his mind...something about that phrase didn't sit well with him. But he pushed it away, keeping his focus on his friends, "Alright, so what do we do now? As far as I know, we're safe for now. Castol and Dim probably hid during the invasion, so they'll be coming out about now I think. I've got my things back. Should we camp out here for a bit? It's probably safer than being out on the streets right now."
As everyone else went about their business, Pitch walked to Fluff and sat down next to her, "You don't like it here, do you?" he asked, his voice tender.
It had been a long one...especially after the events of last night. Running into the random pack of Pokemon was a weird experience, but it was massively dwarfed by the incredible duel in the sky between the Pokemon and the space craft. It was scary, but it was also kind of cool to see. Especially since no one seemed to be hurt. But the whole ordeal left him with more questions than answers. Who were those guys that had occupied his home when he got there? They didn't seem to be associated with neither Dim's Family nor Castol's Crusaders. They were their own group...almost like they were a part of something much bigger. But what? Pitch felt like he missed his chance to find out by choosing not to go with them. But he still felt he made the right choice.
He turned to Fluff, the Altaria seemingly staring out in thought towards the city lights. An idea came to mind.
"Hey...uh, I don't think we properly introduced ourselves yet. I'm Pitch," he held out a paw to potentially be covered in the cloud material the Altaria's wings were made out of.
"So, how did you end up with them?" She asked, trying to break the awkward silence a bit.
"I ran into Glow first," Pitch replied, "She helped me when no one else would. I have a lot to thank her for, to be honest. Everyone else just joined us over the span of three days. What's been really weird is that everyone down below seems to know each other...like they were all a part of the same team at some point in their lives...and you are no different." The Eevee turned to Fluff knowingly, staring her in the eyes directly.
