Setting
Or so some might have thought.
Prospective trainers can reach the castle through a couple of pathways hidden vaguely near the league. It is now completely underground, and one needs to cross one of several long, extended staircases to actually reach the castle itself. It has fallen into great ruin, and in it's massive ruins lay the story of crushed dreams, personal trauma, and tragedy. Something feels off about the air here, and the emotions of a past tragedy hang heavily in the air. It feels as if it should be haunted; disembodied footsteps and whispering can occasionally be heard in the distance, but no ghost pokemon are to be found. In fact, this place is devoid of pokemon!
Some trainers may become dangerously ill after only an hour in this castle, while some may not be effected at all. Criminals and other beings of negative morality seem to be effected more than others.
Jeff scanned the area. Sighing he slid off the gauntlet and it became the full armor. Once it did he used his neural link to command to explore the place. The armor flew around and explored the entire area. The armor then came back and downloaded it's info into his neural implant. Going over the information Jeff prepared himself. This castle was abandoned and was going to make the perfect place to put all of his armors and technology. Finally he smiled and found a room. Going into it he opened his bag and pulled out all his gauntlets and laid them out on a table. Now he needed to do a lot to complete his armors.
"I guess this place will have to do. The castle seems to be scary, but nothing some windows and other science could not solve. Some of the problems this has is that some aggressive creatures attacked me. This world seems to possess a high number of monsters. So how do I tame one of those?"
Frowning he closed his eyes for a moment and went to work on one of the armors. Jeff was adding heat shielding by disassembling one of the armors for parts. If that fire breathing monster returned for a round two, Jeff was gong to be ready.
"This might prove to be a big problem. The creature is dangerous."
Iris was unnerved. The battle that had taken place here was legend. Two of the legendary trainers of Unova had locked horns in a battle so epic it's shockwaves were still having an effect on the world around her today. She had even been a part of it, facing down the Team Plasma's sages alongside the other Unova gym leaders. It had been a glorious victory won by a champion of their nation against a force that threatened life as they knew it... and yet... this place--It was so somber, eerily quiet.
Iris did not like this place. She couldn't place her finger on it, but her stomach told her something was here. A chill ran down her spine as the sound of distant footsteps and a voice echoed through the empty halls of this once glorious palace. Iris quickly made the decision to produce a single pokeball, releasing her hydreigon.
"Hydreigon... I don't think we're alone." Iris explained with mild concern in her tone. "Use your aura--Do you see anything..?" she then asked, rather suspicious. A part of her hoped this was simply an elusive wild pokemon but her stomach said no, and who was she to argue with that??
Hydreigon's eyes glowed with a dark energy as she began to peer around the humongous castle, searching through the walls with her predatory gaze. Iris observed and for a moment it didn't seem like Hydreigon had found anything. Suddenly the dark drake began to make it's way forward at a leisurely pace to leave time for Iris to keep up. The pretty princess seemed very please with this and did her best not to Hydreigon waiting, scaling and swinging past debris like an agile cat. She only slowed down just enough to keep her precious dress from ripping.
Around and around the ruins she went, once or twice forced to crawl under some hanging debris to get by. Who knew where she had even entered the castle? There were dozens and dozens of different entrances. She still had the gut feeling she was being watched, but at least now she felt like she had revealed her stalkers rough location. Finally Hydreigon came to a stop outside an archway leading into a particular room. She had traveled far. Had they been running from her? Had she cornered them? Iris peeked into the room to observe ... a human.
Puzzled, she brushed off her dress and took a couple of steps forward to get a better look. He was doing... -something-. It looked like machinery to her. That was about all she got from observing, so she finally spoke up.
"Hey!" she called out in a subtly curious tone to draw the man's attention. The dark skinned girl's hair resembled that of the dragon hovering behind her. "What're you doing..?" she continued, slightly less subtle about her curiosity this time.
This world possessed strange, but powerful creatures. Allowing them any sort of free reign was not a wise idea. Jeff needed to know more about the creatures. Studying them seemed to be in order. One way to learn more about them was observation, but before he could do any of that he was going to need a fully stocked lab. Unfortunately this meant likely stealing machines and what not so he could be prepared for what was to come. Somehow he needed to obtain one who could bond with him.
"Mind if I study your companion?"
"Monster..." she thought out loud, seemingly puzzling over the use of the term. She looked Jeff over for a moment, as if searching for something. "My name is Iris, and this is Hydreigon! She's a pokemon, and she's also... not the biggest fan of being touched." Iris began explaining, seeming to warn Jeff that it might not be wise to do any studying on this one. She turned to acknowledge the pokemon whom in turn emitted a disinterested grunt. "See, hydreigon aren't really people pokemon. They like to communicate through combat, and they play rough!" she continued in a fond tone, balling her fists and throwing an enthusiastic punch into thin air as if to demonstrate. She had an odd way of describing a monster that attacked and devoured everything that moved left to it's own devices.
Iris abruptly dropped her arms a moment afterwards however, taking on a more serious tone. "...I feel like we're not alone in here, though." she remarked thoughtfully, moving over to close the distance between the two of them. "This place once belonged to someone I knew. Now though I think the only thing living here are memories." she continued, trailing off. She peered around searchingly as she spoke, seeming to become distracted for a moment.
"Are you sure it hasn't given up and gone home..?" she asked, finally acknowledging Jeff's problem in a curious tone.
This world was one he had NEVER been on. Jeff had very little if any information on this planet as a result. What this meant is that he needed a plan of attack.
"So Iris, do you know of anywhere around here that someone could find a computer factory of some sort or perhaps a fully stocked lab? Either would do. Since there are likely more varieties of creatures on this planet, I will need to find a way of controlling some of them, so I can protect myself here. "
