Setting
By then, Kinza had made his way over, speaking to Terezija in his strange, beastly language. She looked at Kinza strange, then looked at Illys, brow raised. She looked surprised, even as she took the bowl.
"...thank you."
Illys peered suspiciously at Kinza, scowling. "Ya didn't go and say somethin' unnecessary, didja? Remember what I promised ya?" A sigh escaped his lips and the threat was dismissed with a wave of his hand. "Whatever. In any case, yer welcome."
"Now, business." The villain's eyes locked on to 'zija again. "Ya have somewhere y'need to be gettin to, right?"
"You'll allow me to do that much, right? I'm already almost a day behind. With Kinza, I'll get there quick, but if we have to do something for you now well...you'll have to come with us."
"Finish eatin' and I'll get everythin' cleaned up," he ordered her, and moved to pack up camp. If he was opposed to this detour, it didn't show on his face.
She got up and followed Illys. "I mean, I wouldn't know. You don't seem hesitant about riding."
While speaking with her, Illys continued to clean up the area, packing everything that was portable into the backpack before shouldering it. He returned to the fire, wondering what exactly to do with the leftovers.
"Hm. Can't really bring this with us."
Terezija sighed. "...whatever. Alright, let's go..."
When he was finished, he nodded at Terezija. "Let's go."
"You'll need these."
"Good?"
"Good?" The question was returned, mirrored.
"Kinza! Up!" she shouted suddenly. The khabarada yipped, then began to run forward, wings beating. In a leap, they were shooting through the air. Terezija cried out, arms splaying at her sides as they climbed almost vertically into the air.
The man's stomach lurched as they came off of the ground and his lips pressed together tightly as forces pressed in on his body as they climbed. However, to his credit, he did not make a sound, nor did he lose his meager breakfast at this strange takeoff.
As they soared through the air, Kinza beat his wings until they were high above the canopy of trees below. He finally evened out, flying horizontally to the ground, Terezija's fingers grasped tightly onto the reigns that were meant only for the rider to hold on. She did not need to direct Kinza with any kind of force.
"Wow! You haven't spilled your breakfast. You must be holding up pretty well!" she said to Illys.
The decision to comment was a bad one, as his stomach lurched one more time before they stabilized. Illys' grip on Terezija's waist tightened slightly, though it was restrained enough so she wouldn't think he was making a move on her. His other hand's knuckles were white as he clutched the handle for dear life.
"Pretty well might be an overstatement," he spat out. The man looked a tad pale, but it did not deter him from enjoying the view. Well, not much, at least.
Her white grin was unmistakably mischievous. It felt like a bit of vengeance for the way he had treated her down there.
"Ugh, this is terrible. We there yet?"
"If you want to lean your head on my shoulder, it's there, hon. This high up, I'm not all that shy! I've got everything to my advantage, so go ahead and play the poor baby."
Biting his lip, his head gently bumped against her shoulder and his eyes closed. "Ya shut it too. Heights ain't my thing. Humans weren't made t'fly, ya know?"
The khabarada hummed in agreement, beating his wings several times to gain a bit more altitude. It was usually quite easy to just soar for long amounts of time and get an updrift, but they needed to gain a bit more height.
"I didn't know, also, Illys. I...I'm sorry. Kinza told me back at camp."
At her words, he grimaced and bumped his against the khabarada again. "I thought that was a secret 'tween men, ya overgrown lizard. Who asked ya ta talk?"
"Whatever. Ain't like it makes a difference. Don't let it bother ya."
And there Kinza's laughter went once more, mocking Illys despite if he was kicked again or not!
"Whatever, I just ain't good with this shitty flyin' from this damn lizard. I'm sure it ain't usually a problem. Ya here that, damn lizard? Don't go tellin' unnecessary things!"
"Well, seeing as it's not going to get any better for you, how about we make the trip a bit faster? Kinza, up! Up!" said the woman.
Terezija's arms reached back to grab both Illy's hands and pull them over her waist. She then leaned forward, until she was laying right onto Kinza's neck, pulling Illys forward so that he'd be leaning over her. Kinza rose higher, flew more quickly, enough to blow either of them backwards had they been sitting up.
