The Multiverse

Setting

A port built into a mountainous cove, very naturally fortified, and with lots of technological advancement due to the abundance of metals able to be mined locally.

Airships and air kites are common forms of navigation here, as the rocks are hard to traverse and the waters are very rough.

The harbor is always busy, mostly exporting technology and metals.

She had finally made it! It had taken an entire month, but Abigail Fogg arrived in Port Goldengear safe- which was a stroke of pure luck. Her old boss, Samantha Himmel, should have a warrant out for her arrest by now.

Good luck finding me! Abigail thought with a smirk, thumbing a decorative hatpin beneath her threadbare cloak. Her dreams were about to come true. She headed off into the heart of Port Goldengear, looking for a store. She had heard of one not far off the main strip. Supposedly the owner asked no questions. Ever.

"Are you sure about this darling?" The schooner droned lazily as it began to approach intercepting altitude. Their target was on the ground, having escaped here from her employer. The bounty was oddly juicy, find a maid, bring her back, and you get the big bucks. Such jobs were what Blackheart was all about.

His airship dipped, weaving its way into the city where they had a bead on their target. "Never been more serious about anything in my life darling, we nip in, grab the maid, nip out. Easy job, no one dies. Easy on my conscience." With a wild grin, the airship's cock-pit howled open, Captain Blackheart standing in his seat and getting ready to jump out and plummet to the ground.

Three metal pods shot past him, sent down by his Frigate docked just outside of orbit, containing angry machinesque zombies he'd created back in the Factory. Manic with laughter, Blackheart stepped forward, falling down to the Port of Goldengear. At the last second, a cloud of Femtites surrounded him, causing his descent to slow rapidly until he was floating barely off the ground. In front of him, stood a girl who matched the visage of his bounty.

"Abigail... I presume?"

Abigail exited Silver Knuts with more than she expected, and was happy to do so! There was a lemonade stand next door she indulged in, and was planning on making her way back to that inn on the square. She had made it half way there before almost running into someone levitating before her.

Her mind began churning. How was he levitating?

"Yes," Abigail responded, peering to see if perhaps there was a backpack responsible, "How are you floating, sir?"

Blackheart pulled a flask from his inner coat pocket, taking a long swig of its contents before answering. "Robots, about a femtometre in size. It's like a nanite, but much smaller." He left the finer aspects of how they were holding him up to her imagination. Three pods slammed into the ground near him, Servitors emerging from them as they cracked open.

"I have it under good authority, that there is a bounty on your head. Bad odds, but it turns out im a Bounty Hunter, do ya know where that leaves us Dearie?" A flash of fire glowed in his hand, as he admired the black leather gloves that was suddenly wreathed in flames. "You're wanted alive, so let's not make this messy. There are many states of alive, and I doubt you want to be lobotomized..." The three robots that had landed in pods produced weapons, two advanced looking rifles in two of their hands, while one had four arms and four swords.

His AI, chirped in the Captain's ear. "Darling, there is a 98.78% statistical likeliness this is our target"

Abigail's heart skipped a beat. That witch hadn't, she thought to herself, the weight of her most recent actions crashing down on her.

"N-nanite?" She took a step backward, looking nervously to the strange things that slammed to the ground, another step as things emerged. Was it time to panic yet? A bunch of weapons were all aimed at her, and for the scheming yet still lowly ex scullery maid, it was just all too much.

Abigail Fogg fainted.

A small party exited Silver Knuts, but instead of emerging into Port Goldengear found total darkness. The Emerald Eye Pendant, a seemingly harmless trinket when purchased, began to emit a deafening hum. From where it hung around the neck of the pirate captain it pulsed a green glow.

Before anyone could question the circumstance, the Emerald Eye Pendant flashed. The light faded into an illusion of a cavern, an enormous door rising before them. As the door made of light grew, a face emerged carved into it. The eyes of the face suddenly burst into green fire, illuminating everything and swallowing the cavern. The light slowly sucked back into the Emerald Eye Pendant, showing snow capped mountains as it went. The last of the light formed a giant dragon, who transformed into a human before diving into the eye.

For another moment, total darkness. Again the pendant flashed, this time emitting thousands of balls of light. They shot in every direction. Each stopped, suspended in the air, slowly drifting. All together they displayed a star system far, far away. For a few more moments the beauty of night hung around them.

As quickly as the lights appeared, they disappeared back into the pendant, with them taking the mighty hum. For a moment, there was total silence.

"UNITE THE EYES"
The words echoed around them.

Slowly daytime and the rest of Port Goldengear resumed to vision around them. Any passerbys would not have seen what the group saw, but they may have heard the wind whisper a peculiar command.

Blackness, and an odd scene played about before his eyes, flashy swirling locations, and a dragon taking human form and diving into the Amulet. Then the Amulet let out thousands of lights, creating a make-shift... "I-Is that a map..? Omnia are you seeing this?" The neuralink installed in his brain relayed what he was seeing to the A.I. back on his ship, and he could hear her response echoing in his mind.

"Yes darling, if the map is up-to-date with current star-maps, which it appears to be, then it's a planet we've visited before. Quaint little rock called Terra." Integra let out a sigh of disgust, his last trip to Terra had been... eventful. "Oh great, Home to the Slumwalks, Terra? Where that crazy chick lives!?" He sent a mental note to Omnia, and she brought the main ship down to low orbit, ready to receive her Captain.

He turned back to Abigail and frowned, "Okay, welp. It looks like you get off easy this time, Ms. Fogg. Try to stay out of trouble, or I may really be back to chop off your hands, yeah? Cheers!" A schooner flew above them, controlled by the A.I. Its engine whined as it touched down on the street, and without further ado, Captain and his 'crew' stepped into it, and were off. Leaving Abigail to her fate, whatever it may be in a new city without the funds she had planned on. They returned to the Frigate, in low orbit, and prepared themselves for what came next.

Abigail was speechless.

In one day, in one hour, she had both gained and lost everything. Her eyes were fixed on the sky, where more of what she was sure were vessels had appeared. What was going on? Who were these people? Where did they come from?

She swallowed, hard, and decided to find somewhere to maybe schmooz someone for a meal.

Doreen made her way into town from the northeastern gates of the city. She had been out on a hike, breathing in the mists of the mountains, when she saw something plummet to Pramia in the distance. At that point, Doreen figured it was time to head back to Port Goldengear and at least grab a bite to eat. Answers would surely follow.

Star Gate has arrived, coming from Goldengear Harbor.
Star Gate vanishes into nothingness, but you get the feeling they are heading somewhere else.

As Administratum determined Eileen's caregivers were deceased and had no path to caregivers her long-term state called into question. Confining a Humankind to the hospital forever would be tantamount to imprisoning one thus lacking interest in the orphanage system considered other venues. Her long and dedicated exposure had developed a mild psionic affinity thus it was determined to enhance her projection locus to access the Way network. Wherever their small mouse-holes crisscrossed reality she could move her projection. They'd provided her with travel brochures from city hall and after she'd read several decided on a pretty planet she wanted to explore. A simple interface provided to the little one left the 9 year old to her own exploration.

Using the book the dark men gave her to take pictures the floating girl could conjure things to wear. They were not real but she could feel them finally having more than the frock in her stasis well. Behind a bush hiding her lower half sported a top hat with goggles that did nothing and a bright red tailcoat jacket. Laced up gloves on each hand what she lacked as Doreen moved closer would be legs underneath. If nothing else the whiteless void of black eyes and blinding alabaster skin. Hair more of the same though unkempt stuck out from the cap brim. Able to pick small things up now after some practice fiddled with making a flower crown while looking back the way Doreen came.

Eileen smiled and waved the brown lacy gloves as Doreen approached.

"Pretty flower, yeah?" Doreen smiled at the small girl with the flower, then jut a thumb over her shoulder north. She had yet to notice the girl was floating.

"Did you happen to catch that this morning?" Over the girl's head, far far far down the main way, Doreen could see a mass forming at the Harbor. Port Goldengear was bustling more than usual. A large airship floated around a rock formation and came to dock, coming from the Cogsman University of Technology. Her eyes widened- she wasn't the only one who saw it, couldn't have been!

Eileen looked up from under her top-hat brim the shining orb voids for eyes focused on Doreen little dampened a child's chubby smile, "Yeah! I've been picking up things for hours! The flowers are so far away."

Eileen looked at the ground to bend forward and back chanting to herself, "Down down down down down."

Distracted she rotated in place without a sound to follow Doreen's gaze replying with one hand rubbing her top hat and goggles, "Well, I was here and I felt something moving all the little gossamer strings. It tickled in my head!"

Doreen paled as she made eye contact with the girl, as she watched her rotate in place. The hairs stood up on the back of her neck. Was this happening? She blinked hard and stiffened in place recognizing the signs from the posters plastered around the city. A supernatural entity! But the way the ghost hunters and dead talkers made it seem wasn't all like this. Aside her looks and otherworldly presence there wasn't much truly scary about the little girl. Just, unsettling.

"Well that's a very nice crown, you've got, there," Doreen tried not to let the panic she felt in her gut show. She could handle the mountains by herself, what was a little girl ghost to what lurked in Knightheart Valley?

"I'm going to check up on the hubub down there. It looks like the University is getting ready to dispatch a mission! Are you here, alone?"

Shrugging through her red tailcoat jacket replied Eileen purse-lipped, "The dark men said my Mom and Dad died. My house fell in and they were too squished. The dark men are nice and keeping me from going bad until they get parts to fix me. Somebody took 'em all! They let me go wherever I wanna now."

Innocent of the fear Eileen looked up and threw the woven crown of small yellow and white flowers aimed to land on Doreen's head. Very much normal flowers she'd picked from the tallest plants they had their own faint scent. Even if Eileen herself had none.

Her toothy smile burning as bright as her throat was dark cheered, "Here! You can have the crown! Carrying stuff makes me kinda tired. I wanna see the floaty ship too!"

Doreen got the cold creeps again as the little girl talked about her death, and her parent's death, and shared more details of her lack of mortality. When she mentioned the right parts, Eileen's mind began to churn, which did a good job of suppressing much of her fear.

The flower crown floated down onto Doreen and she couldn't help but giggle. Even though she was still uneasy, it seemed everyone was getting ghosts all wrong around here. She wasn't so bad; definitely not a knightbear, or a bandit.

"Thank you! Speaking of parts," Doreen adjusted the crown to make sure it stayed in place and started towards the harbor, "The Cogsman University has many great scholars. Myself, I study there in mechanics. Lots of fixers, lots of parts. Perhaps someone will know something?" She half held out a hand for Eileen to grab if she could.

Doreen Terrazip has left the area, heading in into Goldengear Harbor.

Alexander Wells came out of his lab carrying a large leather handbag filled with his various tools, and inventions. A brilliant mind, the University commissioned him to assist in the expedition to examine the wreckage, he was absolutely giddy at the prospect, and nearly came running out of his house.

"Let's see... the harbor! I mustn't be late!"

Alexander Wells has left the area, heading in into Goldengear Harbor.
