Back home, things like this had never happened. Granted his home was around eight or nine billion years in the past, and was now little more than a memory of ashes and debris from an imperial colonization, but still, this was cool to watch.
However, CQC was the best way to navigate around his High Velocity Barrier so in a way despite those things Ixian was more vulnerable to CQC. He was meant to be sold as a weapon after all, so they trained him to avoid him having weaknesses but no weaknesses did not mean unbeatable. Fighting against multiple enemies at once that were highly mobile and armed with plasma swords that could cut him in half? It was still very much a threat to him.
Ixian had a lot of power, but he also understood the truth of reality. Power alone was not everything. Tactics, skill, what works well against what. All of these mattered. The strongest man in the world could be beaten by someone with no powers if they used the right skills and strategy and thought things through.
Ixian dodged the attacks coming at him quickly, and with excess time, because he wanted to take no chances. He brought out swords to defend him at close range and cannons and missiles to take out the Exo-suit wearing people at range before they could get close again.
"Oi, both of you! Stop and surrender or we will just blast you with an orbi..."
One of the normal mercs that were also charging in tried to say something to make them surrender, but Ixian outright killed him for being annoying and a threat. However, given that Russian might not know...
"Don't worry about the orbital cannon, its probably a bluff. After all, they don't care if I am alive or dead, but they do want my body to be usable. They wont forfeit the bounty by obliterating us from orbit".
Actually, the orbital cannon itself was a bluff as it would be extremely difficult to sneak one into Origin's skies, but that was besides the point.
“Once you face enough magic and magi-tech Equipment. You learn a few shortcuts, and ways to bypass said systems. Once you know the original code, everything has to be based off of it. I am a living and breathing library of old human history.” He added as
he chambered an armor piercing round into his rifle and aimed behind him by placing the rifle upside down and backwards over his shoulder and blew a hole in the head of another Merc.
“Honestly, these guys are just running to their deaths at this point. After this is over I’m going to take all this nice junk and turn it into proper weapons. Free stuff is always a nice thing to have. Still, how many guys you think is left? They gotta be thinking twice about engaging us at this point.” Russian sighed as he raised his rifle to clash with a sword. “Because seriously! Can I get a damn drink with ease when I step out!?” He yelled.
"Well, I suppose. In truth, there is also the direct approach" Ixian said in response. "But occasionally, even generic mercs like these can come across gems in the rough...huh, only one missile?"
At that same time, he summoned many swords and had them stab through some enemies that had kinetic shielding similar to his high velocity barrier, and clicking his tongue.
"Honestly, I am already surprised it reached one thousand with..." Ixian materialized another gun in his hand as the last one ran out of ammo and shot a sniper in a building nearby with it. "...that one right there. Well, I did give some respect to the people who seemed to have more skill and ability and rated them as multiple people. I mean, those Exo Suit wearers were clearly a cut above those guys who are just firing assault rifles at us".
"I think they believe we are getting tired and worn down, and that they have a significantly high chance of success then the res..."
That was when he noticed Russian's block with a rifle against a sword. Or rather, he noticed what the sword was made of.
"Hey hey, that was a Refined Mithril blade right there...what is that gun anyways? What is it made of? Even if its because of those bastard scientists, being someone who fights with weapons its kind of a hobby of mine to get interested in and seek out exceptional weapons from time to time".
He soon spun his rifle and chambered another round into his rifle. “I build plenty of weapons, mechs and equipment. But this bolt action rifle is my most prized possession. Probaly ended as many lives as there’s are grains of sand in a desert world. Times a thousand or whatever...I don’t know the number.” He spoke as he blasted another Merc in the chest.
“Still...They gotta run out of bodies at some point...”
"Boo Boo, how many of them are there left?"
Boo Boo replied with an inconsistent and clearly unpatterned reponse of squeaks and arm shakings, that would make Russian question if they actually meant something.
"I see. Although more may be inbound, there are still 247 mercs left charging toward us. 65 from the west, 74 from the east, 93 from the north, and 25 rather large and tough looking enemies from the south".
It should be noted that although that information was all accurate, it seemed way too specific for the short duration that Boo Boo communicated with that unintelligible language only Ixian seemed to comprehend...somehow...
If Russian were to try and use every translation program, it would also end with zero conclusions.
“Hope you enjoy fireworks.” He called out as he flipped the bird and did a full 360 spin to give the mercs an eyeful before the skies suddenly parted way for massive kinetic bombardment courtesy of what dropped the mechs in the first place. A massive ship sitting in orbit and his mobile home.
The area around them suddenly got pounded heavily as Russian stood around with a grin. “Screw you all! I wis I had some popcorn to watch you all getting massacred! Because after I’m done here I’m lining my pockets for the waste of money you are putting me through!” He yelled.
"We should probably...get out of here now....before the police come. I mean, I don't know much about the law enforcement here or how strong they are, but I know this is not a lawless planet so they are probably going to show up soon..."
Actually, if they lingered too long the Dragon Knights would arrive. They were a large organization made of elite specialists that only responded to the most serious and dangerous situations....and orbital fire would put this under their jurisdiction.
Furthermore, the Dragon Knights were not just people who wore metal armor and held swords and bows while riding on dragons. Both they and the Dragons wore advanced Power Armor with LinkGap Security Protection which prevented wireless interface, and was enchanted to prevent curses and have high resistance to kinetic, magic, energy, and other such attacks. Furthermore, they wielded a variety of weapons from plasma blades, plasma cannons, and other such things and trained to avoid the most unreasonable of situations that should never occur but somehow do.
But Ixian had no idea of that, otherwise he would have already started running.
To think he had to use orbital bombardment here...Actually he did not have too but with the amount of morons here they would Probaly still bring in more and more. This would be a message to any remaining idiots, he had a hammer ready to drop anytime. And he was willing to turn them into little more than cinders. Of course, dealing with the local police was not on his to do list.
The first was that N'dal, having climbed down from his tree and attempted to find a closer perch, had been caught in the blast.
On the one hand, Orbital bombardment did not effect the small Firran the way it would effect most everything else. The Enormous amounts of energy striking the planets surface, usually causing plasma bursts as the friction sparked ignition of most atmospheric gasses, was instead absorbed by N'dals body. N'dals people had the truely fascinating ability of absorbing an unlimited amount of energy, though where that power was stored was never discovered. You would think that such a trait would have rendered them immune to the colonization methods of the Imperium, and while you would be initially correct, the Firran were in fact still living beings. When the Imperials blasted N'dals homeworld some billions of years ago, they rendered it uninhabitable, and that fact resulted in the extinction of N'dals people.
However, at this moment, the other hand was turning over. Having absorbed such an enormous amount of energy turned N'dal into a sudden beacon. His body was mostly unchanged, his eyes glowing a bit, but the energy contained within his body wasn't masked in the slightest. Anything that could or would detect surges of energy would be showing up like a star gone super nova, and that would attract the more curious, and less respectful, individuals to his position.
