Mollem McGregor had been taking a much needed vacation from the hustle and bustle of Caprica City, and was thus out on the Tethys Ocean with his Yacht, Renovatio.

The ocean was relatively calm at this point, the bright Langaran sun played out across the recently varnished deck of the ship. Mollem himself was splayed out on a lawn chair, a cool breeze moving across the deck of the Yacht and his face. Dark sunglasses obscuring the light from his eyes as he lay there asleep.

It was a peaceful day, the sounds of the gulls calling out across the vast ocean as the man lay asleep.

Isaac Dunwich fiddled with the various dials and levers in the cramped belly of his own ship, the aged Bannock. The boilers seemed alright, the pressure gauges were calibrated, the screaming pipes and grinding gears were just not going away. Oil and smoke drifted through the large smokestack jutting from his ironclad, moving rather slowly compared to the average watercraft. Isaac grunted hefting the large hatch aside that led to the deck, clambering out from the darkened room into the bright sun. He blinked and looked around, promptly becoming highly confused. Panic set in, realizing he was nowhere near his intended destination. Swearing viciously, he spied a yacht, fancy-looking and clean, and called out to the relaxing man in a gruff voice. "Oi! You there! Sorry to disturb ya, but have you seen a battleship, 'bout, oh, ten stories tall? Big red leviathan of a thing?" The naval mines in the hold of his craft ticked impatiently.

Mollem was nearly sound asleep when the sound of gnashing gears, and the putrid smell of some ind of exhaust touched his nostrils.

His eyes slowly slid open and winced in annoyance before he sat up. Just off to the starboard side was a, compared to the small Yacht, a behemoth of a ship.

The Aschen Emperor visibly twitched when, after he had managed to orient himself, heard a voice calling out to him.

"Oi! You there! Sorry to disturb ya, but have you seen a battleship, 'bout, oh, ten stories tall? Big red leviathan of a thing?"

Perhaps the same anomalies that seemed to make Terra a sudden hotspot for people all across the multiverse was happening to Langara. This was something Mollem would have to investigate. First he checked the small GPS hologram that was flickering beside him. He was still on course and away from any major naval shipping lanes, and it would take some time for the LDA or the Naval Patrol to respond.

"Nope, Haven't seen it. But you could tell me why you're disturbing my slumber!"

At a little over five kilometres down the station was ever in blackness. The sea took all light in the abyssopelagic zone and left everything a hidden menace. If one did bring light as some of the nearby floating subs certainly did to find their way the slow fall of brown snow from the upper layers obscured vision further. Even a scant few hundred meters from the bottom and one couldn't see anything anymore of the station just a faint glow in the darkness. That could be as much a hazardous lava vent to boil the unwary as much as a welcoming station full of precious air. Animals clambered into the view of the lights pointed at the bottom such that one had to walk into complete darkness or end up wading into a thriving mass of clinging animal limbs seeking heat and light. Some of the more hazardous specimens parasites intent on punching through diving suits if they could. Divers had to perpetually scrape away new denizens and coral attempting to seat themselves on the hull of the lab. Many merely cared about a solid place to stand and coated whatever lay still too long. The lab, a light of science, ever had to war against the dark just to hold its own position.

Deep within the confines of the main lab, the LogicRoad Pharmaceuticals was working with SCP Company. An odd union being that SCP usually involved themselves in the entirely unexpected and unnatural --- perhaps even supernatural. LogicRoad had with supervision from a battalion of SCP scientists gained permission to analyse and study one of the more strange and surreal acquisitions that of SCP-093. The implications of this device seemed to prove the Multiversal Theory of Many Worlds true. Not just that, but these worlds were unreachable outside of normal means. LogicRoad interest lied in the Conventional ways this could be utilised if understood, perhaps it would be doable to create Engines that could transverse this barrier and allow for mass exploration without relying on the device itself. That was the theory.

LogicRoad had been provided the information from the various tests that SCP had performed themselves. It seemed promising, but they were too cautious. Eros Fletcher had demanded that if anything is achieved not even death of subjects must stop any potential discovery. Of course, this bothered SCP, but all considerations had been taken. All precautions addressed, in the event there was a breach, the Lab would be locked down, and without access to the surface, it would be difficult for anything to come to the surface.

SCP procedures were things with standardised full redundancy born of meticulous study and a great deal of objects or creatures exceedingly deft at avoiding them. They built or reinforced the lab with multiple types of defences esoteric or otherwise as long as they were proven to have a wide berth or important specificity. While they were often not forthcoming with their research partners to such specificity in their defences there were many SCP with very dangerous effects that bore important walls against their serving as a catalyst. Not that many of the people actually installing the hardware knew what it did as much as how to do so. Almost all knowledge was heavily compartmentalised and spread out that most of the SCP personnel weren't worth interrogating or didn't know enough about any given task to deeply violate the defences.

That vexed LogicRoad so familiar with management structures with monolithic size. The O-5 didn't interact with the facility as much as keep a watchful eye on reports to minimise their vulnerability to its hazards. As much as not to expose either to various possible security risks. Everyone had to be replaceable as nothing was truly safe from the SCP. All it took was a single overlooked procedure and SCP objects could run havoc around a facility.

The experiment was set out with SCP-093 on a podium within a perfect parabolic mirror made of spinning liquid gallium to magnify the strange vortexes created by it. The item itself was rather mundane looking: primarily red disc carved from a stone composite resembling cinnabar, with circular engravings and unknown symbols carved at 0.5 cm depth around the entire object. Deeper cuts are present on SCP-093 with a depth of 1 to 1.5 cm. SCP-093 is 7.62 cm in diameter and fits comfortably into most palms without abrasion. The podium had it held aloft within a spidery intricate claw-like mechanism. Up above currently switched off was a chromatic light source which would shine down and project on a nearby wall a portal. This was all within the framework that SCP had managed to come up with. Though they had yet to shine all colours, and some of the worlds revealed seemed to inflict PTSD upon many of the volunteers who explored past the threshold.

The Experiment was being led by Professor Lantis and his daughter, Erin Lantis. The reason for being so deep underwater was, to see if conditions were different did results vary at all. It was hoped that being used in new locations would provide further insight. The sheer volume of water above them and thick sandstone bedrock layer also provides extreme insulation against solar radiation. Thought to perhaps disturb the formation of such conduits.

SCP collated all the worlds it had seen thus far attempting to measure the faint variations in the energetic environment around SCP-093. With the hard insulation to produce an EM silent environment, sensitive equipment could be used to measure what would otherwise drown in background noise. Everything in with true reflectivity in proximity to SCP-093 threw a very low Hz harmonic with imperceptible gain increases as operatives got closer to the object. Even behind the energised EM hardening surrounding the chamber, it could observe personnel. While disconcerting the behaviour also gave some reassurance that the object could still form a bridge in spite of the projects attempts to produce an ideal environment via total isolation from the local environment.

The first test was scheduled for today in spite of the unusual current behaviour of the local deep ocean. The whole area creaked like hands gripped the undersea modules trying to get in. In one instance a giant handprint was left in the omnipresent brown snow raining from the overlayer. It's unsure if related to the SCP at this time but estimations of its size and structure match well with the beings observed in multiple coloured realities. There was a few imported operatives ideal for this kind of work brought in from Terra who was seeing to an undisclosed warning operation in various locations about the base. Their hosts were less obliging about such behaviour but SCP had more than enough experience with such things to engage with the various skills of proven operatives.

The Chromatic Light was switched to an ultraviolet emitter by the handler fluorescing the surface. As the SCP is activated the pressure outside the station rises as if caught in a bubble rolling over top the station and causes a massive tremor of structures within. Due to the precise specifications of the protective measures, and how they deeply connected at all layers, the tremor caused issues of unforeseen harmonics within the liquid mirror. The device built to keep the vortex one way shattered the confines of restraint emitters with a tide of metal bludgeon become saw. LogicRoad were deeply concerned by the carefully designed restraints being sawed off as if some liquid power tool but the personnel ignored their rising concerns.

Not on purpose but a collapsed communications cable now shorted out entirely. LogicRoad were forced to do nothing but watch as the Rx cable refused to acknowledge their transmissions. SCP was persuaded to continue by a stabilising threat though they prepared for a containment breach in all sectors locking down bulkheads and moving unnecessary personnel to isolation zones. Drones were retrieved due to the hazard preventing the use of even D-class. Some of the scientists were even excited for a successful change of habit by the portal and furiously wrote notes.

Professor Lantis approached the monitor with his daughter while awaiting the transmission from the drone to appear on the screen. He had an electronic tablet to note down new information from the new dimension whereas his daughter had a device to monitor the stability of the vortex.

After a long blackness, the screen lit up to reveal a cavernous area lit only by the UV beam that made SCP-093 lucent and caused stone beyond the portal to glow. On the screen was read out anything from temperature, atmosphere, gravitational forces, depth of probe and, myriad of other unique statistics, "Erin, inform SCP that the Probe seems to be the deepest we have ever gotten in these tests. Prepare mining drone, to search for minerals." she nodded, and informed one of the personnel while craning her head back to monitor the screen. Meanwhile, Professor Lantis was rapidly taking notes while interpreting the HUD to one of the personnel, "Scans are picking up strange life signs in an eastward direction and a massive life signature southward."

Once the endpoint was determined to be stable and not especially hostile SCP dropped aerial quadrocopters into the portal. The partnership with LogicRoad had a number of perks one of which was a vast catalogue of scanning systems and drones to pick from. With but flips and short bursts of the props the drones righted themselves to gravity then shot off with wireless transmissions toward the life signs. Each drone juddered and spun toward moving objects or anything that had an abnormal head signature. The second wave had Lidar and Radar packages to make 3D maps for any operatives should they get clearance later.

Engineers poured over the two datasets to try and parse out objects that might move between the two scans as the first wave moved about with the second in tow. The mining drone was busily mounting a flat spot on a stone wall it moved far less quickly. As the anchoring pads fired a loud pounding noise came from explosive charges drove anchors into the rock. Grinding noises quickly ensued and laser gas chromatography began categorising the tailings. Environment data indicated a great deal of basalt that came with long-dead volcanic activity. They were obviously far underground with the ultramafic rock that came with drilling further into the walls. There would be many various gems and other crystalline structures in the walls. Some SCP personnel expressed concern that it would interfere with defensive structures built to contain intrusions. It was possible the hallway was a former lava tube but with the worked stone in some places said the life signs might be both responsible and complex. The drones flew ever closer to the life signs heedless.

The drone would pick up a strange sight, what appeared to be almost a town carved out of the cave, further there were strange robed denizens -- humanoid in appearance except for their octopoid heads. It appeared to be a settlement or something like a town. Yet, the designs of the buildings could only be described as Cyclopean or Eldritch. The architecture resembled nothing of man-made logic. With spires and terrifying pillars thrumming with impossible energy. The whole thing seemed like something out of a book. The laws of science seemed to have scurried away in terror, not to mention the twisted evolution of this species was unfathomable.

LogicRoad baulked. This was beyond anything they had ever imagined and though it seemed like a chance to discover new life. It was hardly inviting, that and the drones viewing this were acting irrationally, almost their electronic were being interfered with.

Screens going blurry or breaking out in white noise. Far odder, was the speakers were picking up voices but they did not seem to come from the console, but from everyone head. This, of course, alarmed many, and already people were growing rather agitated.

Professor Lantis seemed lucid, obscenely so. He gave no regard to the terror and immediately started preparation for the scouts to be sent in and perform further scans.

Perhaps eventually make the first contact with this species.

----------------
It was only when the scouts had been sent that the Mindflayers present would seem to acknowledge the newcomers. Though they did not interact with the scouts directly their simple minds proved easy enough to probe. Several chained and humanoids would slowly trudge along with their way only to move past the scouts like mindless zombies.

One of the mindflayers brought a single elongated finger up towards the group only to press its will against the barriers of the scouts as its tentacles began to twitch and pressure began to build against their craniums.

"Your wills are weak! Silence your tongues and kneel!" The disembodied voice of the leading mindflayer penetrated their minds as others quickly converged upon the group of scouts only to press their own wills against those flimsy mental barriers. Others would suddenly flood towards the portal whilst leaving those scouts at the mercy of their brethren whilst others commanded their slaves to bring out a massive brain which resided in a pool of strange liquid.

One by one the Mindflayers poured their way through the portal. Each with their own psionic might pressing their own will against the humanoid scientist. Those who failed to push out the invaders commanding will would turn upon their fellow man and disable the communications to the outside world whilst a taller more imposing beast of a mindflayer stepped from his world on over to look upon his spoils.

"I'm Ilx'Ilthervix, your new master, and my word is law!" The leader of the invading group slowly walked forward as several of his minions brought their slaves through the dimension acting as muscle and disposable troops whilst the takeover continued. A single armed soldier who somehow was strong enough to shield himself against the mindflayers continued assault against their minds brought a weapon against Ilx'Illthervix only to be snatched up by the throat and then have his skull forcibly penetrated by the mindflayers tentacles. It was only a matter of seconds before the lifeless corpse of the man was dropped and his brain matter missing.

The allowances for the SCP Foundation, and Logic Road weren't without their caveats, the Aschen Government were watching their exploits carefully, given the sensitive nature of allowing the facility to operate on the capital world. Had it not been for a sizeable donation to the campaign of the local provincial governor, the entire operation would have been flat out denied.

It seemed Aschen corruption was coming to roost.

When the initial seismic ripples were detected, the local home guard mobilized quickly. The Imperial Defense Force mobilized the Reverence II Esteem to the local area, with the official stories mentioning the Reverence II was being deployed for routine military exercises, when in fact they were responding to the localized disturbances, and the fact that communications had been cut off.

"We're detecting psychic energies of some kind, I'd recommend the insertion team wear inhibitors." The XO recommended, while facing Admiral Hanley.

"LogicRoad really screwed this one up, they'll deploy by shielded gravity lift, breach the facility and work their way inside; neutralize any hostiles, and detain the staff for questioning." Hanley said, going over a three-dimensional map of the facility.

"There's concentrated anomalies in this sector, probably a portal of some kind." The XO reported.

With a nod, Hanley keyed up the Planck system controls, and engaged the ship's planck system, with the intention of slamming the portal shut and cutting the mindflayers off from their source.

---

The massive Reverence II loomed low above the ocean, likely unnoticed by those deep below, but completely aware of what was going on. Ventral turbo-disruptor batteries had swiveled to life, garnering a firing solution to annihilate anything that surfaced.

The massive energy projectors powered up, each capable of projecting a steady beam that could pierce the water, and carve deep into the crust below, a last resort if the facility was to be swiftly neutralized.

---

With the swift motion over a few controls, the gravity lift beam fired from beneath the Reverence II, impacting the water and causing the water immediately around to move, and swirl about, a churning vortex surrounding the brilliant violet beam of light all the way to the facility itself.

Increasing power output, as well as beam width, the vortex widened, until the water was clear of the entire structure, which was also completely bathed in violet light from above.

Three teams, Alpha, Beta, and Gamma were inside the ventral main cargo port, preparing their load-outs as well as their psychic inhibitors, MC-1 Carbines, Disruptors, and other heavy weapons were checked, and checked a second time before the squad leaders all nodded.

Insertion...

Weapons prepped, the men jumped, moving down the gravity lift until they made contact with the upper portion of the facility, it was an eerie sight to behold, they looked about for a moment, admiring the sheer majesty and power of the ship above them, being able to displace so many tons of water.

They moved quickly, forming a single line and entering through one of the facility's moonpools, they formed along the door, gave their signals, and then moved in.

"Imperial Navy everyone on the floor now!" They barked, storming a recreational area, the few inside quickly moved to the ground, and the door was shut behind them.

"All teams are inside the facility."

With the gravity lift disengaging, water was allowed to slowly encapsulate the facility once more, and darkness covered it again.

"Let's move, clear the facility room by room, get everyone ready for extraction." The Sergeant ordered.

In an invent that would cause Tsunamis and ever constant destruction and change the Mindflayers could only watch in awe from the safety of the lab at the shear power that the Aschens had. It was evident that they had control over their elements and this very notion provided the collective of brain devourers to shiver with joy and excitement. Their leader simply took one of the screaming guards from the facility and held the squirming man above the ground by his throat.

"Scream! For it will be the last mulling sound you'll ever make!"

[center]Imagep/center]

The man continued to squirm and the leader of the mindflayer invasion simply thrust its tentacles deep into the succulent morsels skull. With a simple telepathic command those who remained would be dominated sending mass chaos and confusion throughout the facility before the armed members of the Aschen Navy would arrive. Ilx'ilthervix simply tossed aside his meal after learning all he needed to know. Things needed to be done but the massive brain would not rest here yet.

As the advanced team would arrive through the Recreational area only to be confronted by a group of scientist who seemed both dazed and confused. "Please help us!" A woman in a white lab coat would plead with the soldiers who just arrived. "They can hear our thoughts and see through our eyes! The Pressure! Make the pressure stop please!" She would collapse upon the ground holding her head whilst the others quickly complied with their demands.

So far, it seemed the raid was moving smoothly, when the soldiers entered the room, the scientists complied with their demands, getting on the ground and submitting.

The men took no chances, they took out zip-tie like restraints and bound the scientists' hands and feet, immobilizing them for further processing and questioning.

Once the Rec area and the adjacent rooms were cleared, the men moved down the corridor, ordering dazed scientists to the ground.

"Alpha team, move to the central lab, neutralize all potential hostiles, Beta team, secure the east wing, Gamma Team, secure the west wing, keep me updated." Admiral Hanley ordered over their communications.

"Sir, it appears the facility is on lockdown, beyond these sectors here, and here." A Marine corporal said as he went over one of the station readouts.

"There's breaches in the communication systems, and I'm detecting anomalous readings all throughout the local area." He added, keying his personal computron.

"New orders, evacuate all personnel from the facility and prepare for total destruction contingency, I'm bifrosting a nuclear device to your location."

Nodding slightly, the Sergeant keyed up his response. "Acknowledged, Command, we're moving forward now." He said, before taking an explosive charge, and placing it on the sealed blast door.

"Antimatter charges set." He said, bringing up his index finger, and keying in the combination of commands to arm the device. "Take cover, fire in the hole!" He called out, moving back behind an overturned table.

The blast door blew, sending molten chunks of metal down the hallway, the entire facility shuddering from the force of the explosion. The Sergeant checked his weapon, and then signaled the men to advance.

So far they encountered scientists, dazed and confused but otherwise compliant with their demands.

The shattering of planes inevitably drew scavengers and those that traversed them long often knew of the VOORP of one squeezing in between the cracks. Shine polyps came from beyond the pale to trail behind the wake of alpha beings cleaning the field of their leavings. Their byproduct was a room cleansed of psionic dissonance and to individuals that could sense such things they'd developed a pleasing melodic hum as they worked. Docile to a fault at their tasks of eating that peculiar mirroring behavior was quite strong in the larger specimen. Though it lacked a certain elegance belonging to sapient minds it was easily shaped and improved upon. Their only real defense to adopt the behavior of the psionic intellects observing them by nature a thought surface now robustly malleable.

This particular one was huge and height of a man at least a shadow that slips into reality as if pushed through cracks sideways. Flailing networks of mycellium scrape clean the walls of the facility as it wanders toward the one psionic it saw. Eager for freshly discarded meat. With another sucking noise it bent at wrong angles around an interceding door what passed for a head turning toward the discarded scientist then to Ilx'ilthervix. The purple frilled fungal creature quietly undulated its flaps in space moving softly for the discarded scientist, head prostrate in a soft humm, to suppress dissonance in the larger psionic landscape.

The other mindflayers still present took notice of the bottom feeder. They seemed curious at first until their slaves they dominated began to reveal the location of the team that entered into the base. The aberrations simply began to gather what they wanted and left the dead to the creatures that would come all the while the portal to the other side began exuding a strange aura about it as stranger creatures began to poor into the facility.

These beasts stood five feet on all fours with their main mass of that of a brain with the legs of a lion. A strange proboscis dangled from their brain bodies and they began to move in packs as they scoured further into the laboratory. As the gate remained open more of the incursion would pour into the realm the Aschens called home and with it a stronger psychic aura began to form around the undersea facility.

"Planck packs are still charging..." Hanley replied over the radio to an inquiry from one of the team leaders in regards to sealing off the energy anomalies detected in the Reverence.

He grunted slightly before adjusting the placement of his psionic inhibitor, a technological marvel that kept the intrusive psychic influences out, preserving the man's mind and sanity from the surrounding facility.

The Sergeant was already hard at work configuring the high-yield nuclear warhead should things go south, though things were factored in such as radiation damage to the surrounding ecosystem, the benefits outweighed the risks, so the decision was made to proceed with the nuclear weapon.

Team Alpha was nearing the main lab complex, including the portal room, while Team Beta was moving swiftly towards the main power room, where they could attatch explosive charges to detonate in tandem with the nuclear device being installed by team Gamma.

Just on the other side, the strange alien creatures were gathering, the Team Leader nodded, and then checked his weapon.

"By the lords what are those things?" A young corporal asked, peering in through a small window.

"Stack up! Charges set! Ready Grenades!" The Team leader bellowed.

The creatures on the other side were likely ready for their advance, so once the team was stacked and the charges set, they readied two psychic disruption grenades, and two plasma grenades, they would throw the grenades into the room first, and then moved quickly, neutralizing creatures and infected personnel alike.

There was a deafening bang, and the door careened out towards the assembled creatures, and the portal. Immediately following, psychic grenades were hurled inside, detonating in a powerful pulse of psychic noise that was intended to cause debilitating pain to even the most astute psychic mind caught within the radius of the pulse.

Plasma grenades followed, erupting in white hot flashes of blue light, sending plasma in all directions around the main laboratory.

The Soldiers moved in next, opening fire the moment they crossed the door's threshold, their weapons barked their deafening reports, and 8.8mm projectiles tore towards the creatures at speeds of about 2,300 meters per second.

Along with these small tungsten projectiles, brilliant streaks of green disruptor energy seared downrange, aimed at the mindflayers that were hopefully briefly incapacitated by the psychic grenades.

"Watch the tentacles!" A corporal shouted, as the men moved quickly for cover, saturating the area of the large brain like entity, and Ilx'ilthervix.

The flapping creature was close the the floor extending thick undulating roots of hyphae into the leg of the meat that the alpha did not inhibit it from taking. Like a squirrel with a precious fruit the leg of the scientist exploded with purple tendrils as roots shot through the meat cracking the bone to secure its prize starting to drag it away to eat safely.

Then the noise emerged though it only looked up for a moment before the creature squealed a similarly deafening hum. Psychic grenades hit the outer fauna with surprised pain as much as using paniced strength to soften the pounding noise of painfully concentrated dissonance. The flapping turned rapid and hurried as it wheeled about in midair dragging its prize behind it away from the pain. It hit a wall the flailed about for a bit the head turning to try and see through the dissonance penetrating its mind. It took several bullets from the rifles which impacted with hard wooden thups squirting spore and blue ichor into the air. Neither was healthy for men to expose themselves whether by touch or breathing lest they host a colony of newborn.

"Watch the TENTACLES!", shouted an identical voice from the floor as the shine polyp left to scatter a office chair behind a desk. The prize hauled in like fishing line the purple fuzz of growing thickness spread up the leg. The femur cracked loudly as it shattered the bone from within.

"Watch the TENTACLES!", it repeated in the same man's voice. It hadn't a template to reflect his mind with its environment full of invisible creatures and pain, except for the alpha, though it certainly could hear the results of minds somewhere. Flaps tightened over the seared holes where it had been shot. The creature hoped the threat would pass and hid to hurridly eat its meal.

The Mindflayer leader and his companions would indeed flinch as the psychic grenade went off sending a wave of pain in all directions. However as the armed men pulled their weapons up towards the aberrations the mindflayers began to cast their spells and unleash their psionic might even if it was handicapped.

"Cover my retreat!"

Ilx'Ilthervix retreated into the portal as several mindflayers threw up a few barriers to shield their leader from the ricocheting bullets whilst other fleshy robed aberrations fell from the flurry of bullets. The room was still filled with many more mages and psionics as the mindflayers that stayed began to try to push their wills upon the soldiers whilst throwing up barriers and summoning interdimensional creatures by far more threatening and terrifying than themselves.

The summoned creatures appeared to be large brains the size of a man with four legs and a massive beak which protruded at the front. They would rush towards the marines whilst the Mindflayers continued their mental and magical assault with spells and psionic blasts alike.

One Marine watched as the Shine Polyp took the leg of someone that it appeared the Alpha had killed. Gritting his teeth, he bore his Disruptor rifle and fired several shots, sending searing green bolts down towards the skittering creature, liquefying metal on impact the missed shots sent molten metal exploding outwards in every direction.

Each disruptor impact released thermal energy equating to several tens of thousands of degrees fahrenheit, which would hopefully neutralize the organisms within the blue ichor that spurted out from the strange creature.

Thick plumes of smoke from charred flesh, and ozone filled the room relatively quickly as well, torn asunder by the occasional brilliant green flash of disruptor energies.

Behind cover, the men kept their distance, choosing to engage at range.

But the summoned creatures proved to be more of a threat, weapons were turned on the creature, 8.8mm projectiles ripping through flesh, while disruptor bolts blew the creatures to pieces, sending gore and viscera in every direction.

Energy barriers also reacted violently with each disruptor impact, but the men held their ground.

"Antimana! Antipsi out!" One marine called out, arming an anti-mana and psychic disruption grenade, and with a wide arc, he hurled the two grenades towards Ilx'Ilthervix, cooking them just long enough that they detonated in mid-air, sending both an Anti-psychic pulse that would disorient, and cause another wave of immense pain, and the anti-magic grenade would serve to split the arcane energies asunder.

"Alpha team, Planck Packs are charged, we're activating them now."

Ilx'Ilthervix and his slaves would have scant seconds to retreat through the portal, before the Planck Packs on the Reverence slammed it shut, cutting the creatures off from their home; and giving the Aschen forces a huge advantage.

The shine polyp noticed the lack of the alpha looking around from its cover sporting new holes and shards of molten metal searing flesh. It held very close to the ground but with the alpha gone hurled above the desk at the noisy creatures a half-eaten hand with sporulated structures swelling out of it. Chunks of the shine polyp were already throbbing and growing on detritus littering the floor with smoky pulses of released spores propelled by bullet impacts spreading from corpse to corpse. The fungal creature much like siphonophores could function with the many holes pounded and burnt into it but most certainly did not intend to stay for more if the alpha had left.

With the pain emerging from the newest psychic grenade the flexible creature sporting smoking holes couldn't shift out but pressed to the floor shooting out the room toward the portal like a slug. Once outside the room several VOORP sounds emerged as the creature chased down the mind flayer across the portal line. Chasing Ilx'Ilthervix like the remora it was. Ignorant of the infestation it had left behind.

"Fall."

Ilx'Ilthervix's tentacles squirmed as he let out a bellowing roar only to extend a single elongated finger towards one of the marines that had been slaughtering his men and the summoned abominations. A thunderous crack filled the room as a jolt of electricity jumped from the mindflayers finger and towards its target leaving devastation in its wake as the ground it traversed seemed to melt at its presence alone.

Several of the other psionic members of the eldritch beings coterie would rush up to their leader after the spell was cast only to usher him into the portal so that their leader would not be trapped in this god forsaken world. After all they already had what they came for. Information and new slaves to work and provide them with nourishment.

Upon arriving upon the other side Ilx' Ilthervix silently gave his orders to send in those who had been chained to help his brothers with their defensive spellcasting. It was simply a beautiful exchange as the Eldritch overlord walked through his people who began to release several chained individuals who rushed through the portal and into the undersea labs. The creatures that stepped through the portal however were not mere people but altered and diseased abominations as they let loose howls of pain and terror only to rush alongside the remaining mindflayers and summoned creatures.

"Kill us!" One of the mutated humans shouted as it rushed towards one of the marines. She was a blonde woman in shambles and chains revealing blotched skin which seemed to perpetually shift and alter in painful ways. "Kill me!" She shrieked once more as her fingers began to shift into boney claws which she used to slash at the armored marines. As soon as this woman would change so to did the others as they went to join the others in combat. A single scratch or bite would soon infect the marines causing them to carry the virus and eventually turn them into abominations as well.

Ilx'Ilthervix's bolt cracked through the air, and culminated with a brilliant flurry of shield energies, and the yelp of the struck Marine who was launched backwards onto his back at the resultant bolt of energy. Whether his shields and armor stopped the bolt remained to be seen, but it was too late as the large creature backed into the portal.

Yet the fight wasn't over yet.

Several people, if they could be described as such began to come through the portal, an invasion of sorts; though they didn't get far before meeting their unfortunate end at the hands of brilliant disruptor impacts.

Grunting, the Team Leader downed yet another strange mutant with his weapon, brilliant green bolts of light searing towards them, their bodies erupting in a plume of steam and charred flesh.

"We could use that planck pack now!" The Team Leader called into his radio.

"Planck Packs are coming online... standby."

The air went static for a brief moment, and the Planck field enveloped the portal, likely slamming it shut in an instant, and cutting the eldritch creatures off from the undersea lab.

The remaining infestations, and dead creatures were left, as the men slowly backed up, the sound of rushing water began to fill the room.

"We need to set that nuke." One of the men said, setting the large cylinder on the floor of the lab, keying in the detonation sequence.

"This is Beta Team, All computer records have been copied, we've got our nuke set and we're ready for exfil."

"Gamma team, reactor's secure; our nuke's set and we're ready to head out."

Backing up towards the doorway, the Team Leader nodded. "Set nukes, One millicenton, synchronize and meet at the extraction point; Esteem, we'll be ready for Exfil in five Centons."

Nodding, the men slowly backed out towards the breached door, with everything in the lab hopefully having been killed.

The creatures eating bits of former human and mind flayer alike spread from corpse to corpse across the floor. Plasma grenades seared many on the surface away but spores were hardy things and some were inside bodies. When the water entered the room the entire rear half of the room turned a violent churning violet as streams of microscopic creatures started swimming through it. As the water battered everything and mixed the purple water crawled upstream toward living creatures.

"No one believes in a pointless future-"
"I want to feel it poignantly until the day I die."
"This "treasure" of mine is so trivial-"
"It can't be, it can't be. I'm on that dried up, irregular course yet again."
"...Hey"
"What are we going to do?"
"...Maybe we should do this!"

Ruelle didn't know which shadows to listen to, it didn't seem to quite matter what he said; so he shut them all out and adjusted the crimson ribbon that held up his long, silky white hair as he floated along because he didn't know what else he was supposed to do. "It's not fucking funny!" he finally snapped, with both laughing in unison again. For as much as this wasn't something he liked, it was another event he had utterly no control over, which was again something he didn't like. Too much to deal with in a day and with a burnt down asylum to mark just how far the Grand Fall of Elle went into collapse yet another time over. "Why won't you leave me alone?" "You know why-" "I don't, that's why I'm asking you for something- Oh, it looks like I've forgotten, haha." His robes were soaked, cults don't give many replacement items, really.

The Tethys Ocean was known to be a cold, and unforgiving ocean among the inhabitants of Langara, a planet that was important in both Galactic Commerce, and the Empire of which it was the seat of power.

The sky was blue, and the harsh sun beat down on the ocean, the air was calm, and there wasn't a single cloud in the sky. It was a good day to fish, and that's exactly what the fishermen of the MV Coho, an unassuming fishing ship happened to be doing.

Fishing nets were cast, and the sound of a bell filled the air.

A gutteral cry almost immediately followed. "Air adhart làn!"

The grizzled captain cried from his post within the helm station of the ship's pilothouse. "Sinn a 'dol a tharraing a-slaodaidh math an-diugh!" The Captain cried out once more, while the boat continued to move underway.

One of the crewman spotted the figure in the water not shortly after, and his hand outstretched, the ragged redhead in a bright yellow rain slicker cried out. "Corp san uisge!" He shouted.

Another voice rang up. "Dè?" A second fisherman asked, and a small group began to gather on the main deck of the fishing boat.

The shadows dipped beneath the water, leaving Ruelle with nobody else to explain what the Hell he was even doing out in such hostile waters- if they even understood what he was about to use as the biggest lie he could possibly come up with in that particular moment; chewing on his fingernails. He hated the fact that his hair was always dripping with water and it would be worse now that he had ACTUALLY been in water for how long now? Jesus.

"I was ah... left out here. Yeah! Left. Out here. In the freezing water-"

Fished out from the cold waters of the Tethys Ocean, Ruelle would find themselves pulled onto the deck of the fishing boat and surrounded by salty looking, inquisitive sailors.

They looked among each-other, whispering in the similar language that they were heard calling out earlier.

Finally the captain emerged from within the boat, a cob pipe dangling from the corner of his mouth, wisps of smoke wafting up into the salty air.

"Cò tha seo?" He asked, and the others simply shrugged, as the captain moved slowly towards the strange individual, eyes narrowing, accentuating his wrinkled, suntanned face.

Subtle whirs from his prosthetics followed his movements, as the captain circled what he figured was a young lad. "Carson a tha thu nad sheasamh; faigh plaide no rudeigin?!" He called out, and one of the sailors quickly shuffled about the deck, grabbing a folded blanket from a nearby bench, and draping it over.

It seemed nobody on this boat spoke a word of english, or common.

Amongst the scattered islands in the ocean were some palm trees, beneath them lay a beast that looked remarkably like a man. This strange being, which was known to some as Magnus to some looked exactly like a man but had many key characteristics to differentiate him. His pigment was light gray which kept him somewhat hidden in the shade. Adorned on his head were a pair of forward facing horns like a bull but striped black and white. Lastly on his rear was a long spindly tail which ended in a spade-like spike, it would whip back and forth passively as he slept.

He opened his mouth wide to yawn, showing off his innumerable fangs held in his maw. His teeth looked ideal for rending flesh from bone.

Inside the main portal control room, all eyes were on displays that circled the control room. Among those were Admiral Hanley, whom had been placed in charge of the operation, following her victory over the eldritch abominations.

The flickering Hologram of EVE flitted into existence, and she issued her report.

"Admiral, Sergeant Valerian's vitals have begun spiking."

"He hasn't established the foothold yet, what is taking him so long?" Hanley asked herself. "I should have sent in Adepts." She growled to herself.

"Assemble Alpha team, and brief them for insertion. We'll recover the Sergeant, and reconsider our approach."
