Setting

The mage glanced out over the desolate landscape, raising an eyebrow, "I must say, whoever is behind zhis place really has a flair for zhe dramatic. Fire and brimstone certainly gets zhe message across, but really, it has little class to it. Vhe shouldn't have to be here long."
In the distance, something gave a shrill clattering screech. Legion stopped his fussing, and dropped his arms to his side.
"You said you had to pick up something," the gentleman in Armani said, quietly.
"Why, oh why do I have the feeling that you only asked me because you knew Geddes would know what you're really trying to do, and would say no?"
The ex-demon put his sunglasses back on, so that his garnet eyes would not give away their position - aside from the fact that one of them was dressed in purple robes, the other in an evening suit.
"Very well. Let us retrieve this item and be on our way. I do not expect that this will be as easy as it seems."
The clattering came again, this time to their left. Legion spun around again, frowning.
"Just what sort of inhabitants are there, in this realm?"
"We are rather vulnerable, in this open field, my friend .. " Legion took a step closer to the mage. "Where are we headed? We had best get there soon. Lead on."
"Odd that I find myself so cowed at the thought of these monstrosities, when I am one myself," the gentleman chuckled, taking the first step on their journey, walking along the field towards the rise.
The mage followed after Legion, considering casting a spell to give them light, but deciding against drawing unnecessary attention.
The slope was rather steep, and there was no path. Things were slicked with soot, with ash.
"Reminds me of my former home .. "
