There was a sigh from Erich as he glanced to Alke, his face twisting into a look of irony as he heard that she'd be bedridden for two weeks. It seemed that their roles would be reversed. Well, on the bright side he could repay her for her kindness in the matter, she was always looking out for him, now he got to do the same.

Besides, it gave him an excuse not only to take off work for a week or two, but to doctor his wife all the while. "Well, two weeks." He murmured, pondering the thought as he waited. It seemed that the Erutin truly didn't take well to diseases.

Alke smiled at the cheek rub and returned it happily. "I can see it now. Breath on word of it to Stahl, and you know he'll be in here every five minutes, and only end up sick as well." It was the sad truth. If Stahl came to baby her while she was sick, he'd end up every bit as sick as she was. "We'll send him an e-mail and tell him to stay out of our rooms for a few days. He'll understand. I don't want him sick either."

With a chuckle he acknowledged her assessment, it was quite true. He would be in here in a matter of moments, and if there was one thing that Erich didn't like the thought of, it was the idea that he would be the person to run about and get all of their errands done. On second thought, however, such might seem an attractive proposition, considering his 'new' leg, it would give him an excuse to put it to good use...

Though he wouldn't be so cruel as to doom Stahl to such a thing. He was a good man, to be so devoted to his little sister. "Alright, I'll defer to your judgement. Until then I guess you'll just have to put up with me."

Again he sighed as she shifted her form, looking about the apartment for a moment before rolling over himself to try and get some sleep. He shifted about for a moment, trying to get his position right so that he could just doze off. He hoped that he wouldn't dream about anything too outlandish, though his mind was still grappling with the thought that the cat that lay under the covers beside him in bed was his wife.

Mind boggling, to be sure.

Hope lay on the long flt couch and sighed, poking her stomach. Definitely needed about door installed then, if she was going to have twins. Twins! She's need a nursery. Attached to her room maybe? Well, the cradle could be in her room for awhile, until they were bigger. Sweet little one. Or little devils, considering her other adopted children. Hm. The young woman smiled slightly as she relaxed, not expecting any visitors, and the children still in their various school, though Bo was with Norry again.

She smiled suddenly at the thought. Norry! Her mate. Oh would wonder never cease? The pink haired woman rolled onto her stomach, then panicked and rolled back to her back, checking on the little ones in her belly. Could she do that? Was it safe? Well, the babes didn't notice a thing. Good.

A resounding knock came from the door to the Hegemony, one light yet definite as, on the other side, Liese Redwing stood, her lithe form defiant in its posture. By the Emperor how these things seemed to irk her, to no end! Life insisted on being such a tumultuous bunch of incessant idiotic events one right after the next. Sometimes it was almost impossible to escape such things, though she hoped that, by an old agreement, she might've found a way out of it.

She and Hope, back when they were much more hostile towards each other, had agreed to a fight. Said fight, Redwing hoped, would take place today. If she'd answer the door, that is.

Hope blinked at this and frowned, glancing around, and eyeign the pillow fort still up and bristling with weaponry, all aimed at the door to Terra. Well...at least it wasn't the back door. She hopped up and hurried to the back door, leading the the Hegemony. Who on Earth? She opened it and blinked. "Redwing? Ah...I wasn't expecting you." Yeah, the weapons were going to be really, reallly hard to explain. Damn.

She opened the door enough to not seem suspicious. "What's up? The latest round of cross-species researc hasn't even started yet."

The door cracked soon enough to reveal the pink-haired colleague of hers, and Redwing kept her look of neutrality spliced with a hint of anger. However, that was to suggest that Redwing, sometimes, wasn't angry, and in the public eye that was a very rare thing. "Good day, Hope. I'm not interrupting am I? The research..." She trailed off for a moment, not sure whether she wanted to reveal just how irritated she was with business back on the capital to Hope. "... the research is fine."

She paused, wondering what, if not research, could bring REdwign to her door. "Okay. Would you like to come in? Excuse the mess, the children were playing War, right before school began." She hit a switch on the wall that would signal to Zuri and Bo not to come in until they recieved further notice. Henry and Rachel would know they had visitors, but not who.

She led the way to the living room and eyed the mess critcally. "And excuse the odd furniture. Hazard of not being human." At least there were armchairs.

Redwing's eyes glanced over her hostess for a moment as she stepped inside, accepting the invitation with a simple nod, though it was likely odd to see such a gaudy and well-dressed woman in the place. Something told her this was much less formal than her own residence. "It's fine," she said with a dismissive nod towards the pillow fort, understanding that children were children, thinking more on the subject of her reasons for being here. Did Hope remember? Probably, these creatures lived to enjoy quite some age before eventually dying out. "I'm sorry if my visit was... spontaneous."

"No, no, it's okay." She assured the woman, motioning to an armchair and taking a seat in one. "I don't mind visitors at all. You jsut have never seemed like the spontaneous sort. I know my just jumping in annoyed you." Lesser Travelers wouldn't have dared, but Hope was one of, if not the, best. That much was certain With as much experience as she had, she ought to be!

With a nod Redwing took the invitation, moving to a seat as it was offered, and quickly sat, enjoying the feeling of the piece as she relaxed for a brief moment, moving to cross her legs not long thereafter. "I'm glad you don't mind, Hope. I'm..." Redwing paused, thinking over just what she was going to say as she looked to the ground, her eyes distant, "I'm just tired. You know how troublesome my life is, now that I am regent." And more. Hope probably knew more than most about the situation, thought that was to say, she knew more from Redwing herself. Others could see the signs clear as day, but Anona was the only one who she dared reveal it to of her own volition.

"I do." She agreed and frowned slightly. She looked REdwing over and sighed. "You need a day to relax, but just can't." It was aging her too, though Hope didn't dare say that much. "And regent over so much more than the Hegemony once was. It can't be easy, leading a war on so many fronts." Not at all.

Hope frowned at this and wondered how she could help the other woman. She had enough on her hands with her children, the pregnancy, and making certain Thistle remained healthy enough to maintain the royal line.

Hope was right, Redwing did need a day to herself, though such a thing was nearly impossible, especially as the visual and literal head of the Hegemony. To escape for a day would be quite a feat, even for Kampf. Liese sighed, her body shuddering in the black uniform as she did such, reclining more in the chair. It would be so much better if he just came back, to take away all of this. How she missed those days, so relatively carefree... her thoughts were too whimsical on the matter, mentally scolding herself, reminding her that she was no dainty school-girl, but regent of an Empire, much less a soldier. "... it's getting to be too much. These Erutin make everything harder..." She sighed again, offering a quick look to Hope, "No offense."

Hope snorts at that. "Try being one. It gets worse." She said and shook her head. "I've encouraged what I can not to fight you. I wouldn't bother with some areas of the former empire though. Not even we could ever tame them." She said and placed a hand on her stomach. "Besides, considering how much better the Hegemony is, how much safer, even with the wars? They're fools to resist." Definite fools.

Redwing dipped her head to the former director, glad that she had found some form of confidant in her, as well as a surprisingly loyal subject. Perhaps that was due in part to Thistle, though Liese really couldn't tell. Hope's motions were, however, curious. She didn't quite understand at first, though soon enough it became rather obvious. She was with child. Odd. She'd never heard her speak of such before, though she knew that her other 'children', Henri and his sister, were human, adopted, but this... well. Perhaps Redwing would just have to find out for herself. "I'm sure the Emperor is proud of our movements towards peace. How have you been, Hope?" She ended the question with a hint of a groan, her exhaustion seeping through her voice.

"Exstatic. My fiance, whom...isnt suited for the Hegemony, finally became my...husband, for lack of a better translation." She said and smiled slightly. "I only wish you could meet, but his work isn't the safest. He does assassin work ont he planet he lives on. He's quite good at it too, even manages others!" She seemed proud. "My youngest daughter is his apprentice. She's his by brith, and mine by adoption." She explained and smiled. "I'm afraid its why I haven't been availible lately. When he is able to safely be home, he's near insatiable."

Liese offered her a smile, the thoughts of a fight beginning to slip from her mind as she just sat there. Was this what normal people did? It had a rather nice appeal to it. She had to admit, it was much better than meeting with dignitaries from all the other houses, no matter how nicely they dressed or what perfume they bathed in. Ugh. She'd take this any day. "Don't worry about it, Hope. We all have personal things that have to be taken care of." Well, except for Redwing. She seemed to be the exception to that rule, at least only not by her choice.

Hope smiled at that and shook her head. He... he isn't aware I'm pregnant yet. I should have given birth already, of course - Erutin pregnancies only last about two weeks - but I want to tell him, or at least have a nursery ready. Not that I know what babies need." She made a face at this, then paused. "Oh. I was thinking. Would you like to be their godmother?" It was a human tradition. But Hope was tryign to set a human example for her human children, and it didn't hurt the erutins she was going to have in any way at all.

Redwing offered her a light smile, happy to see that someone's life was, for a change, turning around. However, her next question was something of a blitz, Liese mentally staggering as she considered just what it was that Hope had asked her. To be godmother of Hope's children wasn't what distracted her so much as that she, as regent of the Hegemony, would be a motherly figure to aliens. Aliens who had pledged themselves to the empire, but aliens all the same. Such a strange situation to be in. Her eyes were rather blank as she considered the offer, and with a moment of deliberation, Redwing spoke, her mind going back, involuntarily, to when she had to take care of Linde, "I'd be honored, Hope."

"Thank you. I know it's...odd." She admitted quietly. "I know the Hegemony considers Erutin little more than filthy aliens." It was partly why Hope discouraged the children's games of shooting aliens. She was one. Their future siblings would be aliens. Instead, she tried to convicne them to play over games, when possible.

"I think...I think that whether you choose for it to be a public or private relationship, it's your choice. As it is, most of the Belkans out that door know me as Hilde." Hilde, not Hope. A nice Belkan name. "They're going to be Trent, and Adalie. It's so not-Erutin as to be shocking, but my own name isn't very Erutin either."

With a shake of her head, Liese dismissed Hope's claims of oddity or things that were out of place. She saw this, largely, as a second chance. The last time she was given a child to raise, practically on her own thanks to her apathetic and dismissive parents, she hadn't done such a good job, echoing her mother eerily. How she detested that woman, she cared more for herself than her own offspring...

"It's fine, Hope. I..." She twisted her mouth, her face taking an odd shape as she considered the possibilities, "It's just been a long time since I've helped with children." Linde hadn't turn out too bad, had she? Well, one could say that to even ask that question they weren't paying very much attention, but the truth varied from person to person.

"It's okay! I mean, I'm not entirely certain what...what to do with children so young either way. The youngest I've ever dealt with was Bo, and Bo was, well. Bo's species is mostly self sufficiently in only a few weeks. I didn't actually do too much to help raise her at all." She admitted. "I don't even know what to get for children so itty bitty. But yeah. I'm not ntirely certain what a godmother is, only that humans have them, and I want my children to have one as well."

Redwing smiled to her friend, odd thought that, an alien as a friend, and chuckled. The Hegemony maintained the practice even after leaving their home, something like that was rooted in their culture for quite some time, not coming out as easily as they had from their world. She did, however, think to explain the role to her, leaning back as she did, "Well, a godmother, or parent, is a surrogate parent. In case the child is orphaned." It probably sounded rather grisly, Liese thinking for a moment that it might upset the mother-to-be, but what was done was done. It was the truth.
