The Multiverse

Setting

The Valley of the Shadows was and always has been a simple valley, but when Draco regained his power, it became a no-man's land. While it is true that wildlife is still plentiful in the first half of the valley, half way through the Despairing Woods all life stops, and there is nothing but dead trees, ruins, and hazardous hills leading up to Draco's Fortress.

The entire Valley has an eerie dark feeling to it, one that feels as though you are being watched at all times; one that feels as though you're being followed; one that makes you feel that death is imminent. It is protected from ariel view by a constant Dark cloud hanging overhead, this cloud is filled with Dark Magic, preventing most anything from penetrating the clouds without express permission from Draco himself.

Beware all ye who enter here.

”War...Always War. That’s why they call us, the soldiers of the Imperium. So we can stop one more war...” Unamed Imperial Guardsman

It has been a few years in the making, their plans finnaly put into effect. Their holy mission now underway, the Imperium has officially declared all out war to rid Terra of the Shadow Legion threat.
With one narrow pass for ground troops, these men of the Imperium knew it would be far from easy.

The enemy would be fighting with everything they had, with tooth and nail they would fight back no doubt. To keep their corrupted claws into Terra to continue their terrorization. But today, one nation was making its stand. One nation that came to Terra with little support, and now the day has come as they caught with everything they had at every waking moment the second they landed on this invasion filled ball of a planet.

Since their arrival, invasions has happened less often, the only thing they had to contend with were raids by their enemies. But their time finnaly came, to finnaly take the fight to the enemy. Hundreds...Thousands...No more than that...Millions of soldiers marched through this narrow pass, armed from the simple Guardsman Private with his flak armor and las-gun to the elite Storm Troopers. Experienced, highly trained and well equipped with Carapace Armor and Hellguns. More than capable of blasting apart heavily armored enemies with ease.

Alongside all these soldiers marched the Space Marines, these genetically modified Superhumans towered over the Imperial Guard infantry. Marching shoulder to shoulder with inhuman discipline. Bolter weaponry held in their hands, minds steeled for what was to come and their souls ready to accept the Emperors light. There may only be a few Hundred...But with numbers like those they were a whole army by themselves.

And many more of these Space Marines were in orbit, with a hundred ships all primed, loaded and ready to fire. They would be ready to descend into orbit in drop pods into enemy formations, instantly reinforcing their numbers and depleting the enemies.

The armored support came from the Imperial Guard, in the form of many different tanks. From the all Purpose Lemen Russ Battle Tank and all its vairents to add to the destruction to the mightiest Tank known as the Baneblade along with it’s own variants. There was also artillery in the form of Basilisk and Manticores, but alongside them were heavy Siege weaponry.

The most notable War Machine, and by far the largest on the ground was the Ordinatus Mars. It was 1.6 Kilometeres long, walls half a mile tall. Armored and well defended. Armed with the Sonic Disruptor, this massive machine was the Imperium’s way of breaking into Draco’s fortress. Alongside this enormous war machine, an Imperator Class Titan, despite being far less large only being 55 meteres tall, this massive war machine was powerful enough to obliterate entire cities by itself. With a dedicated crew onboard to defend against anything remotely lucky to get close to it in the first place. These two engines of war were their most crucial assets to quickly get into the fortress.

In the heart of it all was Commisar Ciaphas Cain pulled into the front yet again. His legend as a Hero to the Imperium was widely known in almost all corners of the Imperium, his very presence bolstering the already zealous Guardsman to even greater levels. His ability to command his men however was top notch as well which is why he along with Rogal Dorn, one of the Emperors own sons was directing the whole army respectively in the Capitol Imperialis, a ten meter tall and very heavily armored mobile command center. With Six Void Shields, a main cannon that can put a whole squadron of lemen Russ tanks to shame, and a hundred twin-linked heavy Bolters for personal defense. This Command Center would prove to be very hard to destroy.

And finaly at the heart of it all was the leader of the Imperium himself, The Emperor of Mankind. Known for his almighty power, his leadership and leading humanity through dark times. He marched forward with his sword gripped tightly. Today...There will be no mercy...Today there will be no mercy...

As aircraft soared through the air, this marked the beginning of the end. The Imperium would finnaly fight with the full fury of vengeance. This marked the Imperium versus the Shadow Legion. And to this marked a bloody war to preserve the peace on Terra and ridding it of one of it’s evils once and for all.

“In the name of the Emperor! Let none survive!”

Deep within Draco's Fortress.

Draco's Eyes opened. The Shadow King had awaited this moment for a long time; he knew it would only be a matter of waiting once his Fortress was complete. He knew that as he expanded his Territory it would only be a matter of time before the Emperor focused in on the Mountains. He knew. He knew that someone wasn't going to survive this battle. What he didn't know, was who. His eyes narrowed with simmering Rage - he could see the Approaching Forces of the Imperium, they were less than a mile from his Watch-Towers.

With The Advancing Imperium

"Are you sure you want to proceed?" Draco's voice rumbled the very ground beneath the feet of the Imperium soldiers, hitting them and rumbling the very marrow of their bones; shaking even the highest Morale back to the reality of their situation: Fighting a Dragon who had matched the Emperor in Single Combat multiple times. In his own home, on uneven, unfamiliar terrain, in a narrow valley with only one way in in and one way out. There would be no retreat for either side, and with the Cloud-Cover over the Fortress, there would be little in terms of Orbital Bombardment Support. "Are you ready to waste your very lives? He spoke in a harsh whisper, each and every soldier feeling his presence right behind them; leaning over his shoulder and staring into his soul from above.

Where were the Guardians of Light?

The first assault began.

From the Watch Towers came the assault. A blacking-out mass of Tendrils. No, not Tendrils. Eyes. All of them Eyes. Flying at just under super-sonic speed, the cone of sound forming around them individually. They dipped in height and rose again, avoiding any kind of fire, not that it mattered if they were hit; the bullets and lasers alike passed straight through them. Then they slowed down, whizzing through the ranks of the Soldiers, the red, all-seeing Eyes gazing into the eyes of each and every trooper. The question "Are you ready to waste your very lives?" was repeated by each of the eyes for every individual trooper, whispered as if within their own minds already. Getting under their skin and throwing them off.

The very ground beneath their feet turned to sludge; black and thick. It was hard to see through, and harder to walk through, harder still to march through or drive through. The Librarians and even Emperor himself would find it very hard to dispel the sludge from their feet - the very proximity to Draco's Fortress, and Draco himself, making everything that much harder. The Guardsman who weren't already breaking formation to turn tail and run were left alone; those who tried, or even thought about it would be snatched by the darkness, a large mouth reaching up to swallow them whole, snapping closed over their heads, dragging them down without a sound, besides their screams. Space Marines who broke focus even for a second to turn their head would be greeted with one of those same eyes glaring back into their skulls; any further reaction only made the sludge deeper and harder to walk through.

It wasn't eating the Army, but testing it. Draco, in a way, was doing the Emperor and his Imperium a favor; by ensuring only the strong-willed and most worthy opponents moved past this point to face the terrors of the Shadow Legion. Whether the Imperium would realize that however was extremely unlikely. But a Dragon bent on World domination could hope.

And the Fun was only beginning.

The many ranks of Guardsman began to slowly falter under this attack, many Privates were hard pressed to keep morale. Of course the Emperor and his Space Marines continued to March with indomitable will, flamers now fueled and burning the landscape around them. This taint was buried deep in this land, only purification would be the fate for this land.

The sludge was thick, like marshland...Nay, Like liquified darkness. The flying eyes, sucking creatures resisting conventional firearms. Figures, they were trying to break the morale of the men. But they would be hard pressed to continue with this mind games with the very enbodiment of humanity at the forefront. ”Fear not the vile creature brave men of the Imperium. Steel your hearts and your minds, a creature that can only remain in the shadows is but a coward hiding from retribution. It seeks to dissuade your will, to prey upon your mind! It knows every one of you have a chance at justice! In exterminating him and all his vile kind! We are the warriors of the Imperium! And we know no fear!” The Emperor roared with righteous vigor as his light shines across his forces inspiring even the lowest ranking Guardsman to stand tall, to grip their las-gun tighter and to advance forward and push themselves to their ultimate limit.

Space Marines replied to the Emperors mighty battle cry with their own battle cry. “We are the Emperors Angels of death! None shall escape our fury! To retreat is dishonor! To die in his service a glorious honor! We are the might of mankind! May none find us wanting!” The Space Marines prayed as they marched forward.

There was a fire burning in the hearts of everyone, and only in battle would it be shown. The cowards that did retreat found little remorse from the others, to retreat in battle was desertion of duty. And many others knew that the Commisars accompanying the army would have shot them if it were not for the dreaded landscape getting to them.

They would continue to march on...And March on they did...

Seeing that the morale had been bolstered again, Draco only smiled, and leaned back in his throne. His chuckle rumbled over the chanting of the Space Marines, and again Morale was going to be shaken. Despite the flamers, the Sludge, Liquefied Darkness remained, getting only deeper; moving to waist deep, forcing them out of their comfort zone. Once the Guard Towers of Draco were finally in sight, Draco launched one more Morale-Based attack, the hardest, and most important test the men needed to pass in order to continue onto the actual Crucible of the Valley of Shadows.

Draco himself appeared before the entire Army, his head flashing into view, steam rising from his nostrils and maw, eyes likewise steaming with rage and power. The earth and sludge all rumbled around and beneath the low, thunderous growl. Suddenly, before anyone could move, those massive jaws opened, and Draco unleashed a long, booming, ear-shattering roar. Like One Hundred Thousand thunder-claps the sound came crashing down on the ears of all Guardsman, Space Marines, Librarians, Commissars, and the Emperor himself. Likely completely shattering their eardrums, and even, perhaps, killing some instantly. Any who died or broke formation again would sink immediately into the abyss of the darkness. Those who did not were met by Draco's maw closing, the growl continuing before the lips peeled back into a sadistic smile, the image vanishing within the blink of an eye.

The next portion of the advance would continue at The Watch-Towers of Draco.

A great emerald beam of light suddenly shot towards the sky and made contact with Sol,
coming from somewhere else deep within the Collenham Mountains.

Sol and Terra seemed tethered together by a thin, bright, green string.

The rat has arrived, coming from Grand Citadel of Shadow.
The rat has left the area, heading in into Watch-Towers of Draco.
