He shakes his head slightly, lost in thought. That hadn't happened before, either. Always a mechanical process, the thinking was.
His mind is drawn back to the dragons and Champions and magic. He had a few interactions with others, but it had been a long time since he had spoken to anything that would speak back. He had always lived in a world of simple continuation, never something worth it, but never something not worth anything. It was an odd feeling, finding purpose not just to continue, but to live.
Sinfrost, do you know where we are going? What shall we do when we get there?
replied Sinfrost, though he barely knew more than it's name. He had never been, having had no reason to go, to the mythic floating mountains in the sky.The Exalted Mountains, I think,
It was a place of dragons- an ocean and then some away.
AUK, or Solaris as he now knew himself, decides to ask a personal question. Forgive me if this is a piercing question, my friend, but what is it that brings dragons to this planet specifically? Throughout my journeys I have encountered many great creatures far and wide, but never ones that could fly or could speak, for that matter. Well, there were some velociraptors who could imitate, but that's far away now.
He looks off to the sides of their flight path, witnessing the receding mountains. I feel quite small from up here.
He did know one thing, though.
the dragon told Solaris,Dragons have been here since the beginning, and will be here, until the end,
Up here, it's an easy reminder, of how insignificant we are. Especially alone.
They soared over the Ravine of Asvith. A great cut into the earth where a piece of the mountain had awoken, and fought. Where it had punched a strange ship in the sky.
Sinfrost distracted himself from the memories of chaos and things he wasn't built to understand, and asked Solaris,
What is a velociraptor?
He waits a moment before continuing. At least we have some company up here.
The ground below was rushing by rather quickly. He thinks for a moment on the cold weather and climate, then is drawn back to another question. Why is your name Sinfrost? It's a very nice name. Has a bite to it, like the cold.
Sinfrost said aloud,Velociraptors, do not sound like friends,
I am glad they are not here, in these skies.
They broke from the mountains and continued over the Ellarian Tartarean coast. The sea crashed black onto the icy shores.
In truth, Sinfrost didn't know why that was his name. He didn't remember it being given to him, he didn't remember picking it out. It was just always who he was. It did have a bite to it. Sinfrost did have quite the bite.
the dragon responded,I am the bite of the cold,
A being of the snow, of the frost. I am a dragon. Yet, in the cold, I am stronger. A dragon of the cold. I do not spit fires, as I've heard others do. Fire is hot. The cold also feels hot, when from my belly. It is not fire.
Sinfrost hoped that explanation sufficed, and asked in return,
Solaris. Does that name have origin?
