The Multiverse

Setting

Wing City's business sector located in Eastern Wing City, despite suffering a terrorist attack the area is still business as usual.

Traffic is still a problem during business hours, but the paving of new lanes of traffic and the progress of construction on damaged buildings has made it much easier to travel through the area.

The area is still home to many businesses, banks, and various cafes and coffeehouses to serve the businessman on the go.

Past business hours the makeup of the business district becomes more shady, biker gangs of all kinds using the quiet area to ride around and sometimes harass people enjoying the late-night scene.

Inquisitor redirected

Disappointed at not being able to serve the Living Emperor, Plinth's metal helmet and horns hung slightly, "Okay, Sir. But I'm ready to push through the Umbralkind if we need to."

She broke off to follow Ean's gaze to Akio, "Oh, that's where my other brother went! I'll try and keep them off him!"

Plinth whirled around in place the heavy armor spiraled around as she raised her Censer high a copper glow added to red smoke now at arm's legth. Gauntleted hand under the light red rose-scented air pulled down from the air into the metal palm with sparks in time with her chanting. Shortly after lobbing high behind akio at creatures heading his way in chase at least to protect his flank. Shadow creatures were impaled by stone vines littered with angular lines of psimass threading through their body. Difficult to impale Umbralkind to death as it is Plinth could at least keep them pinned afire until the charge went out.

She threw overhand much quicker once Akio wasn't in the line of fire but stopped for a moment in cheerful voice as he closed, "Hello Akio! I can hear you brought my brother Jinhai with you. The Living Emperor is with you!"

After a fashion to Ean she replied, "The Living Emperor will protect mankind. My brothers will rekindle as many untainted humans as they are able.

A creature that hovered much like the transports the helmet pivoted to see she simply leaned backward and moved so. Her Censer fire continued gliding across the earth behind them to impale out targets heading their way. She couldn't do anything for the tainted at range and there wasn't another Mada here yet. When she impaled them with the bent stone from the aethereic grounding tainted Mankind simply died.

Once inside she leaned toward the entrance to halt her movement pounding her censer down at the boarding ramp with a tonal resonation. Yellow psimass threaded along the border as she sanctified it against the passing of minor Umbralkind. The last touch she could affect of golden psimass before leaving the presence of the emperor.

She sniffed while looking at the Emperor a mixture of emotions having to leave the emperor after just leaving the storm. Jinhai had priorities to move this cargo safely away under a threat of Umbralkind.

The Grey Knights kept their movement, slow yet strong. The mere fact there were eight of them that she was facing meant she could dance among them her swords moving faster than normal mortals could track. One of the Grey Knights made to smack her with the flat of his chainsword, Only to have the thing caught perfect and stopped dead in its track by her teeth which were clearly not humanlike. As she kicked away another Grey Knight. Using pure strength she wrenched the weapon from its owner by her teeth then spat it out before smirking.

Then came the shadow creatures from her beloved Mate. Ah reenforcements! Perfect! Now with the Grey Knights properly distracted Kethend was tempted to put away her swords to properly use her Shadowmagic, But no, she instead flicked about and stabbed dead between the hearts of one of the Grey Knights, the corruptive energies of the Sword of Eden did its work, ageing the creature fast before the armor rusted completely and fell over stone dead.

One down.....

She saw they were no closer to the ritual site, yet they called in reenforcements, wonderful. She turned her attention back to the remnaining seven knights, severely conflicted on transforming to her true form, or remaining in her human guise and fighting the rest with her swords or switching to her magic.

She chose to keep fighting with her swords. Flicking out her hand she went into a low stance as both swords were sheathed on her left hip. She watched, and waited a brief moment before in a ring of unearthly steel, sprang from the stance as one of the swords was in her hand and already sweeping towards the neck of another Grey Knight faster than anything every encountered by them before. All of Kethends pent up anger at loss of her only source of information was being let out bit by bit, she was using her anger as her fuel, giving her renewed energy with every swing

At this moment, her goal had changed, her anger fueled her movementsx, she now simply wanted to kill shit that was directly in front of her.

Draco was not expecting the answer of the Emperor, nor the sudden movement between space, and as such, took the full brunt of the punch, and flew backwards into a building, which then proceeded to collapse atop his body, burying him in rubble. However, nothing changed. The sound of Draco's laugh began to erupt from the shadows; moving around as he taunted the Emperor of Mankind. The cackling of his eons old voice echoing within minds and souls, ringing out over the landscape as he offered his pity of what the Emperor of Mankind could do.

A worthy Opponent; at last!

The building then began to radiate with black and purple energy, the rubble exploding into the sky as the beams of darkness shot forth and then fell over the land as a blanket would over a bed, spreading more and more darkness. Draco's bellowing laughter became louder and louder as time went on, a great plume of Shadow-smoke rose from the ashes of the building, hundreds of meters high, and even wider than it was tall. It blackened the landscape entirely, none could see into it, nor through it.

Great and powerful wings slowly spread out over the city, sending out a pulse of air that put hurricanes to shame, and toppled buildings. Four grand legs slammed into the ground, the clawed digits digging into the earth and rock as if it were sand. His massive tail swung out behind him, breaking the sound barrier as it merely swayed back and forth, well over the front lines of the battle between the Guardsmen and the Legion of Shadows. Then the cloud began to shrink rapidly as Draco's true and proud form took in a breath through his flared nostrils, raising himself up onto his haunches as he towered over most skyscrapers, horns of Obsidian black jutted forth from his skull, swept back and jagged. The scales were thick and heavy, herculean in size and durability, yet scarred and chipped, evidence of his long history of violence and conflict. Great eyes of Scarlet rimmed with black opened, the reptilian pupils narrowing with a mixture of rage and amusement.

Finally the shadow-smoke was gone, and all there was left, was Draco. He slammed his fore-legs onto the earth, and forth from his maw a sound that could shatter mountains. One billion thunderclaps all at once, long and proud, rumbling forth over the landscape for fifteen long and glorious seconds. Eardrums in a ten mile radius alone would begin to bleed, within five miles, shatter entirely. Psychic links would be forcibly broken or strained to the breaking point due to simply how loud Draco's roar of challenge and dominance was.

The Lord of Shadows was supreme.

At the Ritual Site.

As soon as the Reinforcements arrived on the scene, so too did a flood of Shadows from the Legion. Screaming Minotaurs, Bashers, Slashers, Hounds, Trappers, and even Commandos, all flooded the plaza. The Commandos that were already there began to open fire with their 1. Caliber Sniper Rifles upon the Space Marines and their comrades. The watchers formed a protective barrier around the four Shadowlings and the spherical portal.

Chaos broke out. Any Shadow beings that died would be replaced by five more, and their bodies would break down until hounds of various sizes poured forth from the abyss. The Bashers in their Roman Cohort Armor also wielded sub-machine guns, firing .55 Calibur rounds with ease from their advancing Testudo formations, and then drawing blades when they were within melee range of their targets, quickly finding ways to surround and cut off help.

The Ritual would be completed, one way or another..

On the Front Lines, under Draco's tail.

Upon hearing the roar of their master, their number likewise quintupled, and their fighting more fanatic. Commando Snipers with 1. Caliber rifles fired away at the defenders of the city, appearing on rooftops from all sides, in front, behind, and to the sides of the defenders. Those that were fleeing the scene were left to flee, Akio, Ean, and the strange beings that were helping them.

With the Emperor.

"I congratulate you, O' Emperor of Mankind, for bringing me to this; the form in which I am most powerful within this realm.... Now then, Emperor. Match me in glorious combat. Evnek dout vers!" Draco's voice rumbled forth from his throat though his mouth did not move, echoing over the city-scape.

He stood over one hundred meters tall at the shoulder, and with the rest of his body, he was truly a monster. Kaiju in statue and physical power, it seemed that none could stand in his way. Yet here stood a single man, no a Champion of Man, the proclaimed Emperor of all Mankind, here to challenge the great beast.

No matter the outcome, those who witness the battle and survive long enough will tell the story for generations.

The Emperor
The Emperor watched as his punch sent the Shadow Dragon flying away. He began to fall back to earth and landed on the ground not shattering it but shaking the very earth under him. As he prepared his sword he watch as the Dragon began to transform yet again, growing even bigger and unleashing another form. He soon let out a massive roar that shattered the eardrums of simple mortals, a roar that shattered the psychic link. He did not get fazed by it, he simply remained still as windows shattered, buildings fell over and the road being ripped from the ground.

As soon as this little spectacle was done the Emperor listened as the dragon began to talk about how he was the most powerful in this real, to which the emperor scoffed. "Monstrous size has no intrinsic merit and does not dissuade the sharpened blade. A bigger target is all you have become before me, you can be as arrogant as you want dragon...It will not change the outcome. Its time I put you down and make this universe that much cleaner! For the Imperium! FOR MANKIND!" He points at Draco and roars at him, raising his sword which now glowed a bright yellow. Charging his attack he slices the air sending a massive energy slash at Draco the size half the size of him and charges forward without any hesitation.

The Ritual Site
"Orbital Fire, Purge the entire area! Fight until your last brothers! Do not let this unholy ritual finish! For the Emperor!" The brother captain shouted as all the Grey Knights engaged the demons. For the .55 bullets that fired againt them, they had little to no effect on the Grey Knights however for the 1. rounds they had a more visible effect. Punching holes in the armor however as soon as the incoming fire came A Librarian channeled his psychic might and formed a barrier of psychic pressure around them creating Sanctuary. He then began to commune with the Grey Knight Subconcious and used Quicksilver to make them faster. They would stop that ritual at all costs.

The Entire team of Grey Knights all came together and knowing what had to be done charged forward to the portal killing all that got in their way, yelling litanies of hate. They would stop this even if it meant their lives. As they did so the sky was now filled with Orbital fire. Orbital cannons from the Imperial Naval fleet above the planet began to burn areas of the district with holy fire and vengeance. Orbital cannons tore aparts the buildings and streets burning the demons as they did. They focused primarily around the ritual site but along with other areas.

Front Lines
For the Imperial Guard, the sight of the massive beast was a horrific sight to behold. Those not holding their ears which was bleeding were now being swarmed by more creatures. However those that could still hear heard the voice of an all to familiar Commisar. "Never falter in the name of the Emperor men! Hold the line and hold with all your fury! All Basilisks and Manticores! Fire at will! Mechanaized and armored companies reinforce the district! Airborne units get in there and begin eliminating the enemy! I will join you all personally! Never falter men! Fight for everything on this planet! Kill the demons and make the Emperor proud this day! Now forward to glory!" With his voice the sounds of long range artillery pieces shook the ground and filled the sky. Mortar emplacments opened fire, Basilisk fired long range shells at the enemy and manticores fires missile barrages on the enemy. The entire district was now being blown apart by long ranged support. Soon air support began to fly in the hundreds strafing the ground with autocannon fire tearing apart the enemy hordes as jump troops filled the sky fireing at the enemy from above. Soon Lemen Russ battle tanks reinforced the front, Exterminator's, Demolisher's, Eradicator 's, and Punisher's. And at the Helm of it all was none other than Commiisar Ciaphas Cain and Gunner Jurgen who were occupying a Baneblade. "All ranks fire! Send these demons back where they spawned from! No fear from this point onwards! Charge and crush the enemy!" His roar was soon silenced by the overwealming amount of fire from all tank batteries.

Ritual site - Myrkul sends its regards

Psychic signal broken with Draco's roar Jinhai present near the business center were piledrived into buildings that a blinding a flash rammed into their individual awareness. Motes brightly disoriented into a twitching pile until the roar subsided and they could reconstitute their distinctiveness. Most more distant motes suffered the peal to crawl through rubble for succor the fluid things that they were. They headed for their own version of mechanized infantry as with the advent of Deiyi's influence Myrkul was left free to dispatch Wen from Genesis.

On four legs creatures clad in dark ferroplasm and bright white psi-stone quite burly enough to support a space marine on their back loped into the theater. Simple animalistic minds without an inhabitant they were isolated from psychic effect limiting their intellect. Even Jinhai had to give them their purposes verbally. On their back a five inch thick ferroplasm shield with a relief of the Emperor upon it. As 1. rounds hit the shield they loud clangs ring out stuck metal left inside the clay-like surface. Underneath it a conduit gladius suited to amplify the efforts of Psykers than idle mankind. Slowly threads of ferroplasm forced out the rounds through their thick hide as well the shield though Wen did their best to evade through broken cover. Others pounded their way up walls to get to sniper positions the maw of a Wen a circular grinder that could disjoin patterns in shadow, flesh, and matter alike. Glass and detritus falling through pumped out as grey dust from thin slits in its cheeks as the aether from whence it came. Myrkul knew it couldn't merely kill the umbralkind or consume the corruption - they must be wholly dismantled lest they return. As soon as Wen mounted rooftops or pounded through windows the they pounced at shadowy targets aiming to to pin them long enough to get wailing chainsaw mouth around a limb or commando's head. Teeth both immaterial and physical flew down their gullet eager to reduce enemy pseudo-matter to dust.

Four others diverted down an alley where beleaguered bleeding imperial guards were assaulted shadow hounds and tainted Mankind. A leap crushed the hound the other pounding the tainted one pulping its rib cage. Two forming the rear planted their shields in the earth for cover as the two facing the guards angled their own and huddled under it. The armor on their chest clunked and unwinding the armor to split the chest. Underneath a shimmering hole shaped like man small metal handles with which to grab on each side. Jinhai couldn't get into the area with Draco's screaming to repair the loss of hearing but the Wen could at least keep the soldiers of mankind in the fight dematerialized until they could be ejected into healers. A Wens' minds were well armored but too slow to ponder much more nuance. That was what the gleaming throne of mind was for.

As she looped the head off one Grey Knight she felt her beloves roar and dark energies wash over her, like a wind in a meadow his voice, his echoing wonderful voice echoed over her, washing her as if in a rainfall. The shadow Queen looked up and let the echo of Dracos roar wash over her, it felt strengthening. Energising. Wonderful.

Her beloved was whole. which meant there was little that could harm him. She heard the screaming of the sodliers calling for bombardment, well this was gonna suck. But she had made up her mind, As the Grey Knights started moving again she put her swords away. Once again she stood in their path. with two of their number lost to her blades. it was time for the rest to behold her dark fury.

With a ripple of shadows, black scales seemingly bleeding of shadows rippled across her fair skin as she gained hieght and mass. A feral roar was heard from her as shadows shifted around her to emense size. When it was over, gone was the young woman so skilled with a pair of deadly swords, in her place stood the feet of a massive creature. Not quite the same size as her beloved, Kethend was a third smaller than he. Yet even in her true Dragon form, she was ready for battle

A sweep of the tail wrecked a Baneblade as its crew scrambled for safety, another sweep and she plucked a pair of Grey Knights into the air and juggled them briefly before letting them hammer to the ground before stepping her massive feet upon them. While her black toothed maw bent downwards, aiming to take a bite or six of the remaining Grey Knights.

But the damage was done, the Shadowlings had failed to keep the portasl open long enough, not even her Aaetherspace army could get through if she even tried to open a portal. these creatures, clad in armor making them twice as heavy yet extremely silly looking when she thought about it, had her attention

She was ready to end this

A ritual gone wrong.

As the orbital bombardment came, the Shadowlings dispersed, not wishing to be caught in the fire that would cleanse the area of all who were unholy. And as such, the rest of the Legion in the square vanished as well with the fire, leaving only those righteous few of the Emperor's forces.

And the Portal.

Now unstable, the thing began to pull. Pull everything it could towards it's center of mass with great force, strong enough to uproot centuries old trees and topple buildings. The pull occurred for a good minute in total before the portal had shrunk down to the size of a walnut. The Shadow Commandos had ceased fire long ago, and vanished to help the fighting on the front lines.

There was no sound, nor light, as the portal exploded violently, as if a small thermonuclear warhead detonated merely five feet above the ground. Darkness spread out, and began to corrupt and assault the very souls and bodies of all those it touched. The surrounding area was now pure Obsidian, for one mile outwards, a singular crater of Obsidian, steaming as it cooled, had formed.

The Churning tide of Battle.

With the arrival of more reinforcements for the forces of the Righteous, and the assault upon the Legion's lines, the shadows replied in turn, unveiling the Screaming Minotaurs, huge, twelve foot beasts weighing two pounds of muscle, screaming at the top of their agonizingly pained lungs while wearing great battle armor, swinging around axes with blades chipped and rusted, but strong and sharp as well ready for battle, large enough to cleave ten men in half at once with ease, the poles that formed their handles, a dark and mysterious wood that was resistant to most if not all forms of assault as well.

As the Shadow Commandos were attacked, they would respond with quick and expertly trained martial arts and blade work, silent as ever, their visors showed no emotion, nor did their body language for that matter. They were told and trained to do one thing: Kill. So that's all they did. That's all the thought, that's all they breathed, that's all they fed upon: Killing.

The Legion continued its slow and steady advance, filling in the ranks as more and more of their numbers fell. The Slashers and Hounds stuck to the flanks , boxing in each contingent of Guardsmen and cutting them off allowing for the Bashers in their Cohort armor to advance, gunning down all those in their paths with .55 Caliber rounds or slashing them apart with their corrupted weapons such as swords and spears.

Draco's tail, as it moved, destroyed buildings and sent chunks of them flying towards those fighting, uncaring of who or what the chunks struck or killed, only that damage was done.

The Main Event.

Draco's wing moved with incredible speed and merely deflected the slash of light off of its scales, sending it arcing into the buildings off to the side. Not only was he large he was still practical. As his wing moved back to its space behind him, the Dragon King of Shadows blinked. The Shadows were moving, however he did not need to search them to find the source, and raised his head proud as he looked down upon his wife and fellow Shadow Dragon, Kethend, in her own glory.

'Interesting that she is here...' he thought to himself before returning his attention back to the Emperor of Mankind, and then moving quickly, aiming to slash across his body with his fore claw and then smash it after forming a sort of fist with the clawed appendage. He moved faster than anyone would think he could in that state, as fast if not faster than he did in his more humanoid form, his movements blurs and whooshes of winds as he assaulted the Emperor with slash after slash after smash. His wings would flare out and flap once to create a wind powerful enough to likely pin the Emperor to a wall long enough for the Dragon to smash the building on top of the man.

From his nostrils, Shadow Fire rained down along the battle field and began to corrupt the land once more, the black and purple flames nigh inextinguishable as they raged on. Draco's tail slammed into the ground to create a shock wave that would topple more buildings, and claim more souls for the Legion as well as likely knock many off balance, allowing for the Legion to surround them and attack mercilessly. His movements were accompanied by various snarls, growls, hisses and roars, none of which hinted at fatigue nor pain.

He could do this all day.

Ritual Zone
"Our job is done brothers! Relocate from the area immediately!" The Brother Captain shouted as the remaining Grey Knights either not killed during the battle, or sucked into the unstable portal activated Teliporter Homers and teleported out of the area to return back to the front lines.

Imperial Guardsman, Front Lines
Lemen Russ battle tanks shook the battlefield in more ways than one. Demolisher Battle Tanks armed with a Demolisher Cannon, a short-range, large-bore ballistic cannon. It fired large calibre, rocket-assisted siege shell right into the massive concentrations of Shadow Legion soldiers exploding huge hordes. Executioner Battle tanks armed with a Plasma Destroyer. An extremely temperamental weapon whiched fired superheated Plasma at the enemy hordes almost chewing them out as it fired in bursts. Exterminator Battle Tanks armed with a Twin-linked Autocannon, an automatic, self-loading heavy ballistic weapon that fires a high velocity hail of solid shells. It fired like a machine gun into the enemy ranks chewing up lightly armored infantry and making work of the more armored creatures such as the minotaurs. And Finally the Baneblade, with 11 different weapons from Heavy Bolters, Las-cannons, A Demolisher cannon and the Baneblade Cannon. The super heavy tank of the Imperial Guard led the assault gunning down all in its path.

The Guardsman all across the district died in droves, either gunned down or slashed apart. However they were all inspired to fight, for everyone that was killed the Guardsman faught with more vigor for each man that died. Lasfire opened fire, grenades were used, even attempts to fight off the enemy slashers with their bayonets at the end of their rifle. More continued to advance as Infantry reinforcments arrived.

Orbital beams continued to fire, and as soon as the smaller dragon was spotted some of the ships and even fighters began to target Kethend.

Grey Knight Terminators
The remaining four Grey Knights stood together as Kethend went down to take a bite joping to devour them all. "Our fury is made manifest! Face the might of the Emperor demon!" The Terminators stood shoulder by shoulder and combining their Psychic might their spears began to now glow yellow. They also felt the effects of a Librarian and surprisingly they went on the offense. They Teliported all across on her back. Spears imbued with the Emperors Holy Light and impaled her back with them. "Retribution for the fallen! Holy vengeance shall be delivered!" They roared holy accusations at her as they continued to stab at her.

The Duel
As the Emperor charged at Draco, the Shadow Dragon would attempt to slash at him to shich he blocked it wit heae with his sword despite the Dragons speed, he was keeping up with him. The dragon soon tried to smash him with wist to which he used his strength to redirect the fist to his side punching the street and shattering the ground.

The Dragon continued to strike like a blur, unleashing a flurry of slashes at The Emperor, he continued to charge forward blocking each attack becoming ga blur of his own. Steel met claw head on. However he was soon thrown back by the powerful wings of the Dragon sending him into a building which fell on him. In a matter of second the Emperor burst from the rubble and this time bending the warp to his will he appeared right on the dragons arm, he would then attempt to impale his sword into the dragons arm before dragging it through the dragons arm to make his way to his head. If unsuccessful he would just begin slashing the dragons arm and chip away at its scales.

Throughout the Whole of the Business District
The Many shuddered, and his voice was heard. It was deep, resonant, and could be felt into the very core of ones being. It's tones were gravelly, as though a barely contained fury resided just beneath each syllable.

Ifrit Atundai Spoke, and all who were present would hear him.

"This madness.... Will not be allowed to continue. I will command you only once. Leave this place."

The many, their presence beneath the soil, into the very bedrock of the city, vibrated and shuddered, as they gathered together and formed into a node. This was to be the anchor, as several glyphs sprawled across the solid white surface, each set in a solid black so deep as to be of the abyss itself. As the way was made ready, the many hummed, and that too would be heard by all.

Crumbling pedestal of Atlas

Building wall torn in by heavy white plated fingers the blood of Umbralkind and Mankind splattered all the walls but none were to be found. Wen hadn't yet closed much of the distance but found no targets where they expected them. The quadruped creature ignored the false ceiling showering like a water wake as it explored rooms and windows near the side the Jinhai saw projectiles leaving from. Hadn't there been warriors in the buildings not long ago? The Jinhai that had taken refuge inside Wen considered the nature of this result. They couldn't communicate outside the Wen to others without emerging so one pushed a psi-stone and ferroplasm plate armor aside. Each Wen found their quarry missing. Jinhai as creatures that forge their own gates given different pieces to each distinctiveness concordant psi-seed grew immediately alarmed exposed to the roiling pulse of a unstable gate.

Unforged, crumbling, Jinhai emerged as more small worms from the Wen's flesh to see a dying Way gate of true scale. They instructed all Wen to flee at all possible speed. Wen could take some of the damage but Myrkul could I'll afford to waste what little it had. The closest to the grey knights, before they changed their position through means not of the way, turned and bolted heading an straight lines away from the portal site. Some smashed headlong through what was left of buildings and homes others lengthened their maw wide enough to consume a grey knight whole their bodies distending to accommodate the new load. Others not laden headed underground to reinforced locales that the burdened were rocketed above through buildings as the portal exploded pounding them across the city. Where they landed the Wen dug deeper more than ready for the implosion but the corruption spalled black flesh from the Wen's bodies as corruption took the area by force.

The burdened Wen were smaller by far embedded in obsidian and closer to the corruption as they were but Jinhai worked to try and rekindle the disfigured Mankind. It proved fruitless without a Mada to repair the damage corruption wrought to their soul and desperately tried to force its way into the Wen's armor. They soldiered on spalling motes as they went Jinhai donating more to the Wen's distinctiveness to keep it afloat.

A lurker voices?

Myrkul's Vein heard Ifrit Atundai when he spoke along with all the rest of his sub-beings in the city. Cordial to another that seemed to come from many Myrkul's Vein addressed Atundai directly extending its mind out to the intelligence. The Many seemed familiar to Myrkul. As if a distant Jinhai's distinctiveness had encountered the being before and recognized it. Though the Jinhai did not recognize the voice now. The overbeing's mental voice was ever placid, "We work to contain the threat of Umbralkind as we are able. Enjoined by the Living Emperor that where you do not threaten untainted Mankind we will not work against you."

Draco and the Emperor.

Draco expected the quick recovery of the Emperor, as well as the Warp in space to get him so close, and his eye moved to where he appeared on his forearm. Before he could react however, the Emperor would slam his blade down into the thick Shadow-black scales, which would split from the point of the sword, but then halt his blade before it made contact with the Dragon's Flesh, mere inches away. A low idle growl gurgled forth from Draco's throat before the Emperor began go drag his sword up Draco's forearm , splitting more Scales before he reached an area that was above a major artery and nerve combo, where his scales were naturally thicker to prevent damage. It would be at that point that the Emperor's sword would stop, and a simple glance behind would note the exposed flesh of the arm behind him, the scales slowly mending themselves together.

Draco's coal red eyes flashed purple, and his scales and body began to arc with Lightning, turning his entire body into a sort of Tesla-coil, meant to dissuade any from holding onto his body for too long. His wings spread out and began to flap, sending shock wave after shock wave of wind outwards in all directions, destroying more and and more buildings, and killing off everyone inside them, as well as sending rubble and bodies flying towards the front lines of battle between the Shadow Legion and the Defenders.

Draco would begin to raise off of the ground, and into the atmosphere. While the sight was beautiful, the circumstances were not. Folding his wings in, Draco twisted his body and began to plummet at full speed towards the ground, the arc of fire that burnt up most meteorites and comets forming around his body, his scales turning white hot, and his eyes closing before suddenly his wings once more spread out, and all that momentum stopped in a matter of seconds, the g-forces alone enough to destroy most anything, yet Draco took it in stride, as if he'd done it numerous times with no effort what so ever.

He snarled and then dropped to the ground. If the Emperor had fallen off of his body, Draco would attempt to smash the man with his fore-claw.

The Front Lines

Nothing really changed over the course of the battle. The numbers of the Legion continued to multiply, and more and more on both sides fell to the other. Shadow Commandos kept up their assaulting fire on the defending forces.

However as Draco began to flap his wings, the entire Legion vanished in the wind, as the buildings began to crumble and fly away piece by piece. Shards of rubble slamming down each individual street straight towards the defender's ranks. As Draco returned, another shock wave, caused by the stopping of his momentum so quickly, rumbled and tore asunder the ground in great fissures, from which great and mighty tendrils of shadow erupted, and began to flail around like the arms of an angry child who was not pleased with the outcome of his toy's performance, smashing, smacking, and tearing apart defenders left and right as well as dragging or throwing them around, into rubble, into the chasms, etc.

The Ritual Site.

The area was barren in its entirety, the explosion caused by the orbital bombardment as well as the collapse of the portal left nothing behind, only rubble and Shadow-Fire, in-extinguishable by any normal means.

With the voice of Ifrit, the ground began to rumble. Draco paid it no heed, it was only a voice; and words could not harm him. Not in his current state.

Somewhere untouched by the current events.

The herald of Space itself hovered over the battle field, his blue hair shuffling in the wind and his black, finely pressed clothes dusted by the shock waves of battle. He bit his bottom lip.

"Father will not be pleased....something worse is coming."

The Emperor and Draco

As the Emperor ran up the dragons arm, he soon stopped his advance after his sword got stuck in the dragon. Letting out a disappointed sigh, he pulled his sword free and back flipped off the dragons arm as a surge of lightning began to flow through the dragon and landed squarely on the ground. As soon as he landed he watched as the dragon began to flap his wing sending out shockwaves causing nearby buildings to fall apart, he himself planted his sword into the ground and placed both hands on it holding his ground.

However as quick as the shockwaves came, the Dragon took to the skies far above the atmosphere. However soon he felt his psychic presence return to him after being occupied by another being. He knew another being was here...one that could change fate itself and time. He knew full well that he needed his power to stop the dragon, however if the unknown being even dared to even try one thing he would unleash his full psychic might upon him to stop him by all means neccecary.

For now however, The Emperor remained with both hands planted on his sword as the Dragon began to dive down. He began to channel his psychic might into his sword causing the air to violently swirl around him and a massive bright light began to shine from the sword. He soon pulled the sword from the ground and with two hands of the handle of the blade, he pointed the swords tip at the ground and prepared to engage the dragons attack with an attack of his own. The streets tore open, more buildings crumbled, he paid it no mind however as the dragon got in close his foreclaw within arms reach. Like a flash he raised his sword and swung hard with an uppercut strike.

The Frontlines
The defenders continued to fight hard and refused to yield, however soon the shockwaves came causing buildings to fall down on poor unfortunate souls, some tanks flattened under the massive rubble and some aircraft unable to remain in control was flown away to crash. Soon deep fissures opened up in the earth and shadow tendrils emerged. It was clear the area was becoming unstable for ground forces. It also did not help when Psykers detected a massive amound of power about to collide."All forces pull back immediantly! Pull back now! This area is going to turn deadly in a few seconds!" With his order Imperial forces near the front began to retreat en masse. Aircraft pulled away and artillery bombardment stopped. The area was going to hit hell...it would be best to be as far away from it as possible...

The Many completed their task. The way was open. His voice was heard once more, but this time it did not issue from the ground.

High above the city, beyond the planet of Terra, a new window would open. But it was different. This window was large, larger than the whole of the world itself, larger than any window ever opened before. Beyond it stood neither light nor darkness, beyond it was nothing, oblivion. From beyond that window into nothingness came a voice unlike anything any being or creature of this universe had ever uttered, it was a voice of sheer raw power, that shuddered to the very core those who heard it.

Those who were sensitive to the powers of the mind, those who were psychic, magical, or otherwise influenced by otherworldly gifts, would feel as though they were suddenly brought face to face with a source of power so great that all other forces in reality paled in comparison. Like a candle before the inferno of a raging star, the sheer degree of power given off from beyond that opening into emptiness was simply overwhelming. Most psychic minds would reel, feeling as though they were under assault. Only the absolute strongest, those who's power could stand against gods would know better. Such as the God Emperor of Mankind, he who had stood for centuries against the gods of chaos. He would feel that power, that power what brought memories of his long vigil against the dark and twisted legions of chaos, a power that matched that of all four chaos gods in a single entity....

He would know it wasn't an assault on their minds, but the sheer weight of it's power was just that immense, that few entities would be able to withstand such.

Those creatures of Myrkul's Vein, in their own right existing in a plane separate from reality, would feel as though an intrusion even into their space was being made. It was not as though their existence was being accessed, but as though a new existence was forcing it's way into the world, and bleeding into their plane of existence. An infinite number of psionic entities, similar to those of the vein itself, found their way into that reality and would begin consuming the denizens, jin and otherwise. They swarmed like locusts, consuming the psychic entities that dwelt in the vein and voraciously draining it of power. Never before had Myrkul's vein been invaded in such a way, and in this instance that it had, it might very well be destroyed if not halted.

The voice, indescribable and incomprehensible but to the strongest beings of existence, would echo throughout time and space, to all corners of the universe.

"You would not depart upon my order.... So then you shall remain here in eternity."

Wen that contained Jinhai that fled from exposure to draco's howl shut themselves inside the win, bunkers of mind that they were. Each hulking brute froze, braced, then remained so. Soldiers under the rumbling assault of artillery that might as well be fingers of a god the psychic noise pounded at their awareness. Jinhai however were not built to fear, hope, or be cowed. As long as the Emperor and the Way persisted Myrkul forced its mind into the network bracing it firm against the assault.

As Ifrit's proclamation uttered into Myrkul's space then quieted with the entrance of invaders it ordered the Jinhai to work. The mada 'Plinth' must succeed. The Way must not fall to its single point of failure another Nexus must be created now that resources were not so taxing on the far side to do so. As long as the Emperor and the Plane still stood Myrkul would remain.

There were four of them left

Four targets left, and one second they were directly before her, the next, they were on her.... on her ?! The fuck ?! Kethend shriekd and twirl about, reaching with her long shadowy arms and spikes to try and grab at the four remaining Grey Knights only to miss each one in turn as they stabbed their speaks into her scales, she screamed as the spears burned deep into her skin, peekling away the scales to reveal pale clearly humanlike skin.

Now very unhappy, even more sdo than she was before, Kethend reacted, fidning a still standing building she arched her back against it like a bear would use a tree and started rubbing madly against it, impaling two more of the pests against her scales into the wall of the now mostly to ready to collapse building before she stepped away, six down two more to go.

her body jerked as two more sudden deep stabs lanced through her scales from the spears, With a feral shriek she barrelrolled, using her spikes of shadows upon her back to impale the remaining two Grey Knights and wrench them off her back, Anything to get the spears to stop burning, Shadows closed over the wounds quuickly as she rolled on the ground to her feet.

When she got up she watched confused as the building she'd just scratched her back with suddenly shake madly before crumbling to naught but broken cement and rebar. The fuck ? then she had to struggle briefly to keep her balance as the ground shook madly, what the ? Ok this wasnt good! She quickly opened a shadow portal. Shrieking something to her beloved she motioned to it, keeping it open long enough for him to dive through when he was ready as she dove into it and look out of it towards him.

her anger for the moment was stated.

But was his ?

Draco's clawed hand met with the Emperor's upwards swing of his blade, and the two clashed, sending out another shockwave that would send the great Dragon backwards a few dozen yards, and likely make some of the joints of the surprisingly resilient man at least pop under strain, if not out completely from their sockets.

The Dragon would then feel the earthquake, the massive thing causing his mate to scramble for balance, while he merely flared out his wings to gain his balance. However, if there was someone powerful enough to out match an Earth Dragon in scale power without being seen, he would need to look into it fast.

It was then that his form began to mutate again, bulging out and then shrinking dramatically as his power, having not been unleashed in over a million years, collapsed in on itself. His body was no longer used to operating at such high levels of power for so long. This wasn't good, and he needed to leave. Now.

"You'll have to excuse me, Emperor....it seems my body is not able to continue this glorious battle of ours....." his voice rang out as his human form returned, the swept back armor gleaming as black, ooze-like blood dripped from the corner of his lips. With that he vanished, using what little power he could still muster to use his full speed, straight for the portal that his mate had opened. Once he was in, he forced it shut and left the area.

The tendrils stopped, turning into a sludge that fell to the ground harmlessly, dropping any that they had in their grasp, either on the ground or into the chasms. The Shadowfire that Draco created earlier would still be burning strong, nothing short of direct holy light would put it out

The damage was done; the district in its entirety lay in ruins, countless civilians had been harvest by the Legion of Shadows, and for that matter countless Guardsmen as well. It was doubtful that whatever soil was left would ever be fertile enough to house anything more than a few desert shrubs or weeds, if anything at all, and the ground would need to be completely gutted, and then leveled out before reconstruction could even be planned.

If there was an upside to any of this, it was this: The Legion didn't take any of the buildings too, all the materials were still there; and could possibly be repurposed.

As the Emperor clashed with the Shadow Dragon, his muscles that had gone severely underused was strained and the arm that has swung his sword had become broken. He was not surprised by his broken arm, it was to be expected after years of not being in a physical form and not training it to match his mental prowess.

However it would seem that the dragon was now shrinking, his form also relatively weak. From either not going all out or simply not able to hold all that power was up in the air for him at this point. However the Dragon was going to leave the battle, he was glad that the dragon was going away for he had a new matter to deal with...a power matching that of the Chaos Gods...however he knew he surpassed them...and now he had to deal with another threat to protect the planet. "So be it, I have new matters to attend to anyways. And dealing with all threats is my mission..." The Emperor spoke as he turned to face the sky.

There was no fear or hesitation, his arm may have been broken however he had more than raw power at his side. He channeled his full Psychic potential around him, the area around him destroyed by the molecular level. He stared at the sky knowing something just lay past the clouds. He would defend this place, he would beat back whatever being dared lay a finger on the planet..."No fear...no respite...no mercy..."

from the window into oblivion came forth, not a being or a body, but a single finger. That realization would not be felt save by The Emperor. Even as all his soldiers and psychic warriors would shudder under the sheer weight that bore against them, he would see and realize the far worse implications. That all the force and might that had been felt, was but a single fragment, a single finger of the whole that lay beyond that gateway to purgatory. And this single finger was larger than the whole of the planet Terra on it's own.

And it would bear down upon the world, burning and unstoppable. As it passed through the atmosphere, it would consume it, burning it away in a conflagration that consumed all life on the planet. Then when it came in contact with the earth, it would shatter it, like a mote of dust that scattered to pieces in a storm. In a singular moment all that would be left of Terra would be the flaming detritus of a planets explosion.

And in the next moment, it would be over. The gateway would vanish, the burning finger of a being beyond the comprehension of sanity no more. The world was whole, the atmosphere strong, the life thriving. As though all that had occurred were nothing more than a simple dream. The only change was that, as the destruction in chaos wrought by the entity vanished without a trace, so too would the damage and death that were wrought by Draco of the Shadow, and the Emperor of Mankind. All would be peaceful, as though the battle that had just raged moments ago was no more. Even those lives, those souls who had been claimed by the Shadow dragons Legions would be well and fine, no more aware of what had happened to them than they were of the planets supposed destruction. It would be as though the whole of the battle that had raged in the district just moments ago had never happened, as though life had continued along without any obstruction or obtrusion.

The weight of the power that had laid against him would be gone, as too would all evidence of struggle and conflict. The ground still shook, giving evidence that something was still amiss, though perhaps that was not the actions of whatever being had just made it's presence known.

The Emperor and his soldiers, standing about in the district, looking distinctly out of place in the business oriented locale, would be left to wonder about what had just happened, but only for a moment.

A single figure looked directly at the Emperor, his gaze a force that could be felt. He seemed a man, but not entirely, as though his body were made cinders and charred wood and stone. He looked as though he had once blazed with power unimaginable, even to the emperor, but had been consumed and cast aside by it.

This figure sat cross legged on the ground in the shade, his only clothing a waist robe folded about his thighs. And he waited for the emperor to approach.

The Emperor stood steadfast as the finger bore down on the planet. He did not move nor did he even shudder. However as the finger close in on him, a single blink, a second of blackness and when he opened them everything was back to normal. Building that had fallen was standing. The streets all shattered and broken were back to normal. It was as if time was reset.

Of course...that being was behind this. The Emperor glared at the figure in the shade seemingly waiting for him to approach. He was not sure whether to be thankful, or irritated that someone could control reality and change time to fit their needs...Reminds him of a certain Chaos God...and that was a bad start.

Regardless his job here was done it seemed, he did not approach the figure, instead he turned around and began to walk away. He was not curious, or did not want answers. No...he had more work to do. His men were waiting in a new part so he had no reason to stay any longer.

Even as the emperor turned away, he would find himself facing the figure in the shade, as though by trying to depart he had only come close. The being continued to watch the emperor for a time, before stating in a manner of fact tone.

"If this is the best you are capable of, then you are doomed."

The figure gestured around himself, even as the shaking from the quake continued. "That is not my doing, but it is of little concern when compared to the greater horrors you need to prepare for. I believe you are a man familiar with the act of sacrificing a few for the better of all, yes?"

As the Emperor turned to leave he found himself facing the figure yet again, all he did was give an annoyed sigh. "What do you want reality shifter? I have more business to deal with. And I did not do anything yet, so you don't know what 'I am capable of'. I could care less what you can do, just make your peace and be done with it." He spoke simply as he held his hands behind him.

Of course this had to be very important to shift reality just to have him face the figure again. He could care less.

The burned being sighs then gestures around him. "Did you not see all that just occured? Did you not feel it's presence? That force which you now face is an entity the chaos gods only dream of being. And before you put it all off with that famous bravado you humans are oh so fond of."

And here the old man stood up and looked the emperor in the eye. "There is no doubt in my mind that you realized the true nature of that being. What it did, it did with as much effort as it would take you to blink."

As the shaking continued the burned man sighed, lifting a hand and quieting it. "There, now that that nuisance is set aside. I understand that you are newly risen from the dead. And I also understand that you have ever seen to the survival of your people."

"Now you could ignore this warning, pay me no heed and go about your own way. In time you would come to face him, and while I doubt your pride would bend enough for you to admit you regret it, your people will. Facing the might of the chaos gods is one thing. Facing an entity whom, by their sheer presence, would have you fighting for your life and sanity, and that is without actually trying, is another matter entirely"

"But if you would choose to spare your people such a fate, this is the one and only opportunity you will have. After this, I will cease to exist." The burned man said. "Your people are quite good at surviving using technology and equipment you have lost all knowledge of. But in this instance, I might give you knowledge that would make your purpose easier."

The Emperor chuckled. "So you underestimate the Dark Gods themselves? They posses enough power to easily destroy everything in existence when they have a chance. However I am ensuring they do not. The second they can leave the warp all reality shatters and the end of days will happen faster than anyone could think. That was nothing compared to what they could do when they can manage to leave that hell..." He spoke unmoving.

"We have faced everything this universe could throw at us. Humanity has survived for millennium. We do not fear anything for we are fear incarnate. No enemy is to strong. What you speak is already the Chaos Gods themselves however you would be also fighting for your soul. I remember all our lost knowledge. And I have new things in mind. I do not need help from some stranger. We fight our own war, relying on allies makes you more weaker. Makes you depend on them more and more. I will only keep the warning in mind. However I already knew this. You made your peace, now I take my leave." The Emperor soon turned around and began to leave.

Once more as the emperor turned away, he found himself turning towards the figure, as though his movement only brought him back to the same place. "You misunderstand, for I am no ally. I am but a shard of that being who's presence you just felt."

The old man gestured around "You speak of the gods of your chaos as equal in power to that creature, but what he did here was not even the whole of what he could do. This was a mild nuisance to him, a brushing of his shoulder, so think then about what an actual assault by him would be. You speak of them warping reality and stealing souls. With him, you would not have a soul to begin with, and reality would simply cease to be."

The old man once again sat down. "I only wish to warn you, to make you see the true depth of the threat you face. Your chaos gods are ruled by their aspects, and thus are predictable, they can be outmanuevered and tricked. They can be stopped. Ifrit can not. He does not care how the task is completed, only that it is. He is unstoppable in that no matter how you may defend yourself, he will find a way around you. Heed me, emperor of man. Do not underestimate him, for while the dark gods have the power to destroy everything, Ifrit has the power to destroy even them."

Having given his warning, the old man closed his eyes and fell apart, becoming naught but ashes and smoke. Whether or not the emperor would heed this warning, or whether his pride would spell doom for all existence, only time would tell.
