"Where I come from, drunks are the least of worries," she remarked. "If you will not take a cab, then at least go home and sober up before you wind up mugged or worse."

Wing City wasn't exactly known for its warm and fuzzy atmosphere, and unlike most drunks lounging around the city, Alrion looked to actually be a man of wealth. A potential target for would be thieves and scoundrels.

Alrion raised his other arm and gestured around himself. "Home? What home should I go to? My home has a family in it, the family of my brother, and even if I am welcome there I do not wish to subject my alcohol ridden brain to the crying of babes nor the canoodling of a man I don't particularly like." Eloquence even when drunk was a talent that had taken many years of drinking.

His free hand gestured dismissively. "Forgive me. My problems are none of your- can you get off my arm?" he turned his head to ask the bird, which squawked loudly in his face prompting him to shake his arm to try and dislodge it to no avail.

Najia straightened the shoulder strap on her bag again and she seemed to stand straighter with the indignation of Alrion's general rudeness. If he wanted to wallow here drunk and get himself mugged then that was his decision.

"Then I will leave you to your business," she told him simply as she turned to continue on her way.

"You have no business to leave me to, except for the matter of this bird," he answered dryly, now trying to pry the birds talons free, which were causing all kinds of damage to his clothes. Fortunately underneath was some sort of arm strap. Finally getting the hint it jumped from his arm and flapped to the ground. It squawked again irritably at him.

Alrion's attention returned to the leaving woman, realizing now that he had chased her off and frowning ever so slightly, but too prideful to apologize. Good riddance, he told himself, the last thing he needed was someone so nosey bothering him about his life.

There was no song being sung by Lark as he walked home that night, deciding to take a shortcut through the Gardens. The young man wore a dark hooded sweatshirt over a brown t-shirt and blue jeans.

It had been an unfortunate encounter in the woods, but he felt perhaps it was a necessary one. Taylor had made her choice, and he was no longer apart of her life, It was time to leave it all the past. Duke, Luli, Sovo, all of it. He was done with that chapter in his story, and he finally was ready to continue on to the next.

"I hope you're not running away. That'd be disappointing," sang a voice that was none other than the girl with the fans. She was sat atop one of the statues that depicted some kind of horse spitting a stream of water from its mouth. Her legs were crossed and she was examining her nails closely.

She had been so quiet. Enough that it might have even unnerved the sound manipulator.

Lark sighed coming to a stop. He had to admit to himself that it did indeed feel like he was running away from this annoying woman. He'd already told her he didn't want anything to do with her anymore, yet she still insisted on pestering him.

"I told you to go bother Duke if you want to get a rise out of someone." He said with a glance over his shoulder. "I'm sure he'll be more than happy to beat you to death."

Luli let out a sigh of her own, this one more dramatic and hassling. She even lifted her arms and dropped them. "Oh, woe is me, that people don't realize that I don't do things without good reason! It's as though you all believe that I live to torture you!" She draped backwards over the statue with the softest giggle, one that fell in tune in a manner unlike the young woman. Her laughs usually built in volume, not the other way around.

"Duke is missing. Taylor is missing. And they're not together, either. What do you think happened when you all were transported back here, Lark? Why do you think that happened?"

"I don't care." Lark shrugged. "Maybe they were the lucky ones and got rid of you. Maybe they just dumped you on me so they could get away." The young man paused after that one, it had sounded surprisingly bitter, enough to make him mad at himself. He shook his head and turned his back on her.

"I'm done trying to change what happened, It's out of my hands. I'm moving on with my life and you should too. If not then go start your own quest to find em. I'm done being the 'hero'."

An amused hum came from the girl as she slipped down from the statue, landing lightly on her feet. The sun was dipping below the clouds behind Lark, casting a shadow on the pavement.

"Even I know Taylor better than that. I don't care how sour you are; your ridiculous friendship forbids her from doing that." As the sun hit her, the shadow that drew long behind her sat beside Lark's. However, as the woman stilled, the shadow kept walking, as though circling Lark's. It parted in such a way that the silhouette of its dace grew sharp teeth in a wicked, taunting smile.

"And if that friendship is still strong enough, I believe it's going to force you to be a hero one more time."

Luli's eyes searched for Lark's, clouded now as though she were blind. Dancing across her skin was a myriad of inky designs that mimicked the shadow.

"You remember him, don't you? Went by the name Varkala? Tried to end all life within Sozo before coming here?" She clasped her fingers together and cracked them. "Well, since you all were so slow I took the chance myself and ended him. Lucky me, right? And you thought you were the hero." Her eyes rolled.

"Congratulations." Lark shrugged. "Great for Sozo, I'm sure they'll throw you a fricking parade."

The shapes and symbols that crawled across her skin drew Lark's attention, and it caused his body to tense a bit. He glared at the woman.

"I am in no mood Luli. I told you I'm not playing your games anymore."

The shadow that had been circling Lark's own suddenly stopped.

"Did you ever truly believe I was playing games?" Her voice was barely above a whisper. Varkala's hand shot out to wrap around the neck of Lark's shadow, and the sound manipulater might have found himself forced to the ground.

"Varkala never truly died after I killed him. He burdens the killer with a curse. I took on this burden because I knew neither of you three would be able to contain him for any useful length of time. Good hearts can't carry this." Luli began to approach Lark, and the darkness in the area began to grow still. "Unfortunately, no human can take him on for long." She would crouch down in front of him on one knee, whether he was standing now or not. She was in submission.

"If I don't find a way to destroy him for good, I'll die." She held up a finger to him, "-and Duke will die," A second finger came up, "You will die-" And a third.

"And Railynn and Taylor will most assuredly die."

The shadows had gone unnoticed by Lark, which explained why he was caught off guard when he suddenly felt some invisible force latch onto his neck and pin him to the ground.

He was tempted to try and fight back, but something inside of him seemed to have given up, and instead he just let the back of his head rest against the ground. The pressure on his neck wasn't crushing, it seemed more like it was meant to just keep him there as opposed to choking him.

He took a deep breath through his nose and looked up at the sky that was getting darker now. The stars were beginning to peek through, there weren't alot, just a handful. The lights of the city hid the majority of them, and he found himself longing for the another night in the forest.

He began to chuckle dryly, and soon he was practically laughing. He closed his eyes as something died inside his chest and continued to snicker for a few moments more.

"After everything you want help?" He had to stop himself from laughing some more. "You want my help. Oh that's just perfect."

"I know, right? Isn't it just the funniest thing you've ever heard? You like that joke, right?" She laughed with him as she rose, shoulders bobbling, her hand covering her mouth.

All at once she became silent. "If I could do this without you, I'd have done so."

Wing City's Eastern Gardens are not only to perfect place to relax and enjoy oneself but also to pick up a few extra ingredients without a single soul trying to stop the theft of the natures bounty. Titus smiled to himself as he knelt down next to the willow tree only to use his belt knife to scrape a few samples. With deft hands he worked quickly and efficiently and with a bit more weight to his collection potions he would make might get him by a bit longer.

A laugh like bells echoed on a sudden cold wind. The willow tree trembled softly then all fell silent again aside from the typical ambient noises of the garden itself. There was soft, calm breathing right next to the man. A young woman in haphazard clothing leaned over next to him, her hands on her knees and head tilted slightly. "Hello," she greeted simply, the corners of her mouth turned up in a smile.

The calm of the gardens seemed to have something new wander in and Titus was all aware of the presence. The tattoos on his arms and chest burned slightly but the feeling was fleeting as the man turned his gaze to look at the girl. His knowledge and the reaction his ink gave him informed him of her hollow nature. Her smile was met by his own and as he sheathed his knife his hand came to greet her.

"It is not often that I get to see the ghost of something once full of life. Tell me what brings you to the gardens this late in the night?" Regardless if the woman would take his hand Titus found himself slowly rising off the ground just to dust himself off. His gaze fell down upon her due to the height difference but he did not ponder on that or as to why this specter was present here and now. "I know this city is a bit dangerous but you look like the least threatening thing in a mile. I should consider myself lucky."

She shook his hand weakly, her skin cold and clammy to the touch. "I could hear you. You called to me and I came to see you." Her voice was soft, weak, and raspy. Like she hadn't used it in a long, long while. "And why are you here so late at night, if you know this place to be so dangerous?" She laughed the same windy, belled laugh while looking up at him with her lifeless eyes. "Looks are so deceiving, you could be risking your life speaking to me."

She finally straightened up, all her weight on one hip making her look more off-kilter than before. She was also three different pairs of socks, all layered on top of each other. Five belts of different lengths somehow staying around her hips and waist. Even her hair seemed to be cut to different lengths on either side of her head.

The quiet of the Gardens would be momenterally broken as the sounds of shrieks, cries and pleas resounded through the trees as a magical glyph appeared some distance away. The blood red glyph would spin slowly around until the form of a very beautiful woman exited the portal and thus snapped shut. The woman would look around once or twice then adjust her glasses upon her face and ran her fingers to brush a set of her black locks behind her ears "Well...I hope that wasnt too loud for anyone's evening" She said and hummed gently to herself as she began to walk

As she did, the guns on her heels began to click as the metal of the barrels touched the ground beneath her feet, walking like a proper and poised lady that she was with a smile as well, looking up at the moonlight. A loud cawing was heard as a crow settled on her shoulder to which she did not mind "Dusk...there you are" She said and patted the small bird's head as she continued to walk, enjoying her evening.

"Did I truly call for you?" Titus found his question a bit strange escaping his own mouth as he wordlessly continued to speak. His eyes moved over to the soil and dirt he had shifted in order to get his goods but he doubted that there was any soul that had been lost beneath this earth. "I am in this place regardless of the dangers in search for new herbs and plants to harvest. This patch of whitecaps interested me the most." Titus offered as his hand pointed to the others still upon the ground. The alchemist brought a bare hand to rub at his own eyes only to realize that the girl was a bit odd and wondered when she had dead so long ago. "You could be dangerous but I suppose it would be my own foolishness for apparently summoning you here. I suppose that...."

Titus seemed almost out of place for a moment as he heard someone else close by. His eyes turned past the girl and noticed the beautiful belesandra and her bird. He was about to say something to her but his eyes fell back upon the spirit before him. "Have we met before? You seem familiar to me somehow?"

The ghost laughed again, her smile growing a little wider. "Don't worry, I truly am harmless. But you didn't do anything as complicated as a summoning. You were just like a phone, buzzing and ringing softly for my attention. You...aura attracted me to you, if that makes sense." Her gray eyes swiveled over in the direction the glyph had appeared. Her smile vanished and she took a step back from the man uncertainly.

She looked like she would fall over with all her balance now in the wrong place, but she somehow stayed up. "Met before...?" she whispered, her attention obviously shifted away from him.

The Witch would turn her head to look towards the man and the...ghost? She adjusted her glasses as she gazed at the ghost with a nod. Indeed she could see her just as well as she could see the man. With confidence, she approached the duo with her hands behind her back "Nice evening isnt it?" She spoke aloud and stopped a few feet away from the two while standing straight and tall, smirking in a seductive way. Her body radiated confidence as well as sexual appeal by the way her outfit was designed and she looked at the two with a small curtsey

"I am terribly sorry if my arrival was too loud" She said, her British accent heavy on her voice as she spoke "Im Belesandra...but most people call me Bele....I hope I am not interrupting" She said while staring at the ghost "Strange for a spirit to be lingering this close to a living being" She said simply

The alchemist smiled and nodded to the spirit. "I am happy to hear that. Summoning things has never been my forte anyway." Titus chuckled slightly. He understood what she was speaking of when she chose the word aura. He had been trained by witches and wizards and all manor of spellcasters by nature and so his soul seemed to almost vibrate at times. As she took notice of the witch who approached the both of them Titus took a step forward to put himself between the girl and the sexually dressed lady.

"Loud would not be the word I would choose." Titus continued to offer his smile though his eyes began to work out what to do if things went sour. "As for this being a nice evening I cannot complain. Bele is it then? I do not think you are interrupting anything besides a chance meeting but I assure you that all are welcomed in this public domain." The alchemist simply glanced back at the ghost and looked upon her face as if trying to recall if he had seen her image in some papers awhile back or at least in a article of some kind. Instead he gave up for now and turned his attention back to the witch. "Is it truly strange for a spirit to comet his close to a living soul? I think that is a rather interesting debate that we all can avoid don't you agree?"

The spirit's eyes were focused, unblinkingly, on Bele. "Nice to meet you...Bele," she replied softly, curtsying slightly in response. She swallowed and shivered slightly, rubbing her arms. "Nothing is strange in this city, is it? Not you or I or him...My name is Verity." The last sentence was tacked on awkwardly, as if she wasn't sure whether to divulge her name or not.

At the alchemist's glance, Verity's eyes would appear a deep green for a split second before fogging up with gray again. However, the effect would only be seen by him if he was watching closely. She glanced at him for a moment, too, distracted, before returning her gaze to the woman and regaining balance properly, her foot coming forward again.
