This RP takes place in a sort of reimagined Mario universe, with the Donkey Kong games included.


Once upon a time, there were two plumbers living in Brooklyn known as Mario and Luigi. One day, they were doing work down in the sewers when they were attacked by alien turtle creatures. They managed to fend them off, and found out where they were coming from. A wormhole. Deciding to explore it, they found themselves on an alien world.

It had turned out that they were in an area called the Mushroom Kingdom. A benign, peaceful nation, that was recently taken over by a warlord known as Bowser.
Using their many plumbing skills, the Brothers had decided to lead a rebellion, which sent Bowser back into retreat, and they liberated Princess Peach. Now, 2 years later, the Mushroom Kingdom has been rebuilt, and all seems right. But now Bowser is mobilizing further militias, and preparing a second invasion into the Mushroom Kingdom. And this time, he's not holding back.



Playable Races:


Toads:
No, they aren't frogs. They wear mushrooms on their head, and they have a symbiotic relationship with them. Whether or not the mushrooms are attached or just some sort of hat is unknown. They aren't telling anyone. They are biologically related to goombas.


Goombas:
Goombas are also mushroom people. They don't have arms, however, which can be a real drag for them. About half of them work for Bowser, the other half...do not. They're often used for delivery jobs, simply because there aren't very many other jobs you can do without arms.


Koopas:
Koopas are turtle people. Unlike Earth turtles, though, Koopa shells actually do come off: they're actually artificial. 75% of them work for Bowser, which leaves the other 25% often facing small amounts of racism from Bowser's enemies.


Kongs:
Sentient Primates. They usually live in Jungle Japes, or in jungly regions proper. They are virtually all good climbers, and love fruit. For some reason, Kong architecture has an obsession with barrels.


Kremlings:
Crocidilian people. They live primarily in swamps and rivers. Many also live out in the sea, usually working as pirates for K. Rool.


Yoshis and Birdos:
Yoshis and Birdos are a race of sentient velociraptors. Males are called Yoshis, and females are called Birdos. Both genders can lay hard shell-like capsules that are usually called eggs, but are actually not eggs at all. Yoshis also have long tongues, but Birdos are able to use their mouth as a canon for their 'eggs'.


Ghosts:
Ghosts are sentient souls that are trapped in the mortal world. They range from Boos to Portrait Ghosts, and are generally hard to defeat without the use of light or a vacuum cleaner of some sort.

Humans:
Humans are uncommon in the Mushroom world. Actually, they're not even native to the Mushroom World. However, occasionally, a human finds a portal to the Mushroom World, and finds themselves stuck there.





Factions:


The Mushroom Kingdom:
At some point during the middle ages, a small human group got trapped in the Mushroom World. They found a tribe of Toads there, and together, they formed a constitutional monarchy known as the Mushroom kingdom. Currently, the only surviving members of the royal family are Princess Peach Toadstool and Daisy Toadstool.


The Kong Tribe:
There's a group of Kongs based in Jungle Japes. They spend most of their time gathering fruit and throwing it into their banana horde. Their 'official' leader is Donkey Kong, but Donkey Kong himself usually takes orders from Kranky Kong.


K.Rool's Pirates
A band of pirates who love to loot and pillage mercilessly. They have their sights set on the DK's banana horde, as they often have to fend off scurvy. Besides, who doesn't love a good banana?


The Koopa Clan:
The Koopa Clan is a barbarian horde run by the vicious warlord known as Bowser. Their more elite ranks also include Prince Bowser Jr. and the Koopa Kids. They have a friendly rivalry with the Kremlings, and are currently at war with the Mushroom Kingdom.
