Roseno Academy ; 3142

Sayaka was waiting right outside of the academy, just beyond those tall metal gates that the rich schools would always be surrounded by. But honestly, it wasn't exactly a rich school. It had to be fancy, and it was actually constantly rebuilt due to all the accidents that happen with students; their powers going out of control.

Sayaka, being of the age of 18 already, was on her way to mastering one of the four elements possible, which was why she didn't mind playing with her fire right in front of everyone. Unlike a few people, Sayaka never paid much attention to any of the other elements, seeming to see them as a sort of inferior thing, but it's mostly just to keep on power under control; Her fire.

Ever since that incident she had in the past, burning three people whole right in front of her eyes, she never wanted to touch fire again. But after growing older and wiser, Sayaka began to focus on only fire so that, if she were put in the same situation, she'd know how to take care of it instead of freaking out and consuming everything in flames.

'Tch. You're small.' That one boy would say, the one with the stick in his hand.

'Lame too. You don't have any magic, do you? You're one of the few losers.' Said the other who held a bat in his hands.

Sayaka flinched at the thought of those two young boys who she had burnt alive, as shown when the flame in her hand wavered suddenly and just vanished when she gripped her hands in anger, 'I could have done something else rather than.... rather than killing them...' She thought.

She was the type of person to dwell on her mistakes instead of moving on. She only corrected them, but what she did in the past, whether positive or negative, always changed who she was the next day. And when Sayaka thought of the time when she killed the two boys and her mother, she became quite depressed and out of her own character, which was easily shown when her fire would shake, or when she'd sigh, or perhaps when she'd just lack the enthusiasm and energy to do things; anything for that matter.

"Where exactly are those four idiots..." She muttered underneath her breath, no longer practicing her magic since she crossed her arms and tapped her foot impatiently while waiting, "If they make me wait another extra five minutes..." She growled slightly since it was almost time to go into the school, and she wasn't a fan of being later, yet she also wasn't a fan of going there alone.

Al was currently running on top of roof tops to be able to meet his friends in time. He hated to be late, and on the rare day he was, he was usually mega late. Of course, he wasn't mega late today, it just felt like it.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I know I'm late!" Al said once he was one of his friends. Jumping down from his current roof top he was on he came face to face with Sayaka. "Where is every body?" He asked. Okay... So maybe he wasn't late.

He was sure he was late. 'cause he had had quite a lot of trouble trying to get his sister ready for school and then he also couldn't find his things that he himself needed to use today. Al looked at his watched. It said he was late by... 2 hours!?
Okay... Maybe someone switched his watch on him. That would make sense, since his sister was in absolutely no rush this morning saying it was too early.

He knew it was kinda stupid to be doting on his little sister like he does, but she was kinda useless when it came to some things. She could barely dress herself some days. (Al is now convinced she is just too lazy).

Al decided to lean against a wall as he waited for his other friends. "Okay... So maybe I wasn't late." Al said with a laugh as he spoke to Sayaka, "But you're quite early today."

It was dark out when Lucius woke up. But then again, it was always dark out for him. As he rolled out of bed, he grabbed his blindfold and tied it on, making sure the knot was good and tight. It wasn't like he needed it, but he figured that other people might not like to always see holes where his eyes used to be. Lucius, after getting dressed, slipped on his shoes, which he'd had specially made to have a raised edge rim on the bottoms(and therefore would always cast a shadow on the inside, good for sensing what was underfoot), and stepped out into the early morning light.

His hearing, having been augmented ever since his blindness along with his other senses, picked up Alistair running along roof tops to get to class on time(Hey, shadowsense lets you see what you NEVER want to see, and no one else Lucius knows of has hair that long and something else to match). Lucius never really understood why that seemed like such a good idea. After all, one misstep and he'd soon be late in a whole different sense. Lucius, however, simply smiled as he raised his foot into the air and kept it there, the shadows inside as hard and immovable as rock. After all, he never said anything bad about WALKING on rooftops and the air between them!

The shadows were being surprisingly kind to him today, actually pushing him along towards his intended destination. That had actually been one of his first discoveries about Shadow Mana, that it was the only kind to truly possess a will and mind of it's own. Over the short time he'd had his element, he'd had to pick up certain traits that the shadows tended to prefer so that they'd listen to him more often. For example, he tended to use his Mana less on cloudy days, when the light would be more dispersed and leave fuzzier shadows, rather than on clear, sunny days, where the shadows were more defined and crisp. Also, he'd learned to wear his now trademark look of a greatcoat with thin material in order to keep a shadow at least on his back, where he could harden the shadows to prevent a backblasting from someone he'd pissed off. All of this seemed to be to their liking, so they allowed him to use them whenever he pleased, and actually got him to where they were all meeting up before Alistair had landed, noticing Sayaka already there.

Deciding to mess with the two of them, he landed in a nearby set of trees, waiting for the prettyboy to land, then made a veil of shadow, causing the light that WOULD have reflected off of him bend around instead as he walked towards the wall Ali was leaning against. Once he was right next to the guy, Lucius dropped the veil, reappearing out of nowhere with a smile on his face.

"Dang, and I thought I was slow, I've been waiting here for half an hour!" An obvious lie, seeing as the last time he'd gone hiding that long, he'd ended up pissing the shadows off and been stuck that way for a day(if you think that's a good thing, you've never been without ANY form of radiant heat), but it was meant to be for a laugh. He also had the pleasant sight(if he could call it that in his case) of seeing Kaori eat it for five meters. He didn't care what anyone said about her, the girl had to be made of titanium, the way she did so much damage to herself without any lasting damage, and wondered if maybe she had some form of inherent Mana armor as he offered a hand to help her up. "Kaori, you've got to be the only person I know that I DON'T need to know their shadow to tell where they are. I just need to follow the mayhem.

Al had turned around to see Kaori face plant and slide her was all the way to the group of friends. Lucius had pretty much just arrived with the comment, "Dang, and I thought I was slow, I've been waiting here for half an hour!" only to help Kaori off of her face.

"Are you alright, Kaori? Do you need a band aid or something? 'cause that looked like it hurt... A lot." Alistair asked the girl before turning to Lucius, "And you really shouldn't tease her like that. What if she were to actually be injured for once?"
Yes it was true that Kaori was rarely ever actually injured, but there was the chance she could be some days and it wasn't good to over look those times.

He actually felt bad for Kaori. She was such a sweet girl. So to always injure herself was kind of saddening. Sure, Lucius may get a kick out of it, but Al did not find it funny.

Al looked out on the rode hoping to see if Olivia would show up at some point. He knew that someone would offer they leave without her if she took too long. And even though Alistair never wanted to, he'd follow along because he couldn't afford to be late. He was pretty much the star pupil in his classes. And it'd be bad if the star pupil was late to class. He still had no idea why he was the star pupil. He'd never done anything extravagant. But people were always calling him a natural, which he always denies. 'cause in his eyes, he was not a natural by any means.

The moral of this story: Olivia. Don't be late.

Olivia squirmed under the covers, sunlight filtering through the window and into her room. Her eyes fluttered open, and she looked over to her alarm clock. She hurried out of bed, and quickly got ready, taking a shower and getting dressed. She ran a brush though her hair before running downstairs to eat breakfast. Her parents had already left for work, and it was silent in the house. After she finished eating, she glanced up at the clock again before grabbing her bag and running out of the house.

When she got to the school, she could see that the others had already gotten there. Running up to them, she stopped by the group and took a breath. "Sorry I'm late guys," she huffed, a little out of breath from hurrying. Olivia looked at Kaori and noticed her face was scratched up. "Are you alright Kaori?" she asked with concern.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry! I know I'm late!"

"Yeah, you are." Sayaka said in an annoyed tone, though, she was quite relieved that someone showed up, nearly on time, "But I'll forgive you this one time... Just don't do it again, alright?" She asked, patting his head.

"Hey guys!--"

Sayaka heard the familiar voice call out as she turned around only to find one her female friends, Kaori, faceplanting on the ground in front of the two. Somehow, the brown haired girl wasn't very surprised as she asked, "Was.... there something on the floor?" But a moment later, she only sighed and kneeled down, about to offer her hand before another familiar voice was heard.

"Dang, and I thought I was slow, I've been waiting here for half an hour!"

She jolted up at that sound, nearly scaring her half to death since she didn't expect the blind one of the group to come right behind them, or if he wasn't already there from before, "Honestly Lucius! You should be well aware of that I'm not someone you should be playing those little pranks of yours on!"

"Kaori, you've got to be the only person I know that I DON'T need to know their shadow to tell where they are. I just need to follow the mayhem."

"And you really shouldn't tease her like that. What if she were to actually be injured for once?"

"Now, now, you both should stop arguing." Sayaka said, making a motion as if she was cutting something in half with her hand, "Our little Kaori should be fine. If you want, we can take you to the nurse's office if it hurts." She offered, "Oh yes, and has anyone seen Olivia? There's a chance she could be in the school already before even I got here..." Sayaka said, rubbing her neck a little as she searched the grounds.

"Sorry I'm late guys,"

Sayaka finally found the purplish black haired girl as she did a small wave and said, "I'm actually not concerned that you're late for once.... seeing how everyone is basically late. Anyways, if Kaori's fine," She took a glance at the blonde haired girl, "Then we should get going to our classes, yes? It'd be bad to be scolded a second time this week...." Sayaka murmured quietly, becoming more silent by the minute since she hadn't told anyone of her absence a few days ago when she was running late from lack of sleep.

Lucius smiled at Al's comment, rubbing Kaori's head and mussing up her hair as he did so.
"The weapon that does more than give Kaori injuries that inconvenience her is the weapon that destroys the rest of us. So with all due respect, if Kaori were to ever be ACTUALLY injured, that would mean either I should run like hell because someone created the ultimate weapon, or I should suddenly unlock some sort of superpower that comes from rage. And seeing as the last time I did that I lost the most important person in my life... I'd rather she stay uninjured. And don't mention it, Kaori."

He then decided to stretch a bit, the bones in his back, arms, and legs all popping at once, thanks to another one of the tricks the shadows gave him. "And Sayaka, you know I'll never listen, so why bother?" He then gave a quick wave to Olivia, who had just gotten there. He didn't know what it was about her, but every time he was around her, her shadow almost felt... angry, for lack of a better word...
