Dedrik watched as the woman contemplated his words, her face growing suddenly red. The man himself remained untouched by his emotions, though right now if anything, he was simply feeling sympathy towards the brunette and her current predicament. It took a moment, but finally she composed herself enough to fabricate an answer, and though it employed a look that otherwise said she had no idea what he was talking about, the man could see through the rouse quite clearly.

"No! Um, no.. I was just trying to get acquainted with the ship...."

The man simply shook his head at her words, letting out a huff of exasperation from the corner of his mouth. The action spoke more words than he could’ve, almost being as if he were offended at the fact that she’d even consider lying to him. Albeit he wasn’t a specialist in interrogation or anything that would otherwise grant him the ability to detect such subterfuge, but nevertheless, the way the strong, defensive statement turned so quickly into a quiet voice of trailing defeat was all the proof he required. Without even speaking, he simply kept his gaze on her, watching as her fingers worked the strap of her bag, her eyes then drifting up to meet his. With that, the man knew that the next answer would be the truth.

"Okay, yes. I'm lost. I'm absolutely and completely lost. Could you help me?"

Nodding with approval, Dedrik now spoke. “Of course, ma’am.” he said simply. It was mandatory for him to aid whoever was in need of it, and either way, he enjoyed doing such. With that in mind, the man gave a short bow, being that he came forward just enough so that she knew what he was doing. The action was customary amongst his kind, and it was a way of acknowledging someone superior. Not always in the sense that they commanded them, but in the way that said they would do all they could to help. Of course not many knew of the fact, and so most found the gesture rather strange, especially when in the military a salute was usually given, and so Dedrik clarified with his next statement.

“I am at your service. With what would require my help?”

"Of course, ma’am.” The Vasparti said, bowing slightly to the brunette. “I am at your service. With what would require my help?”

Mercia wasn't used to the gesture, her mind working a way to tell him it wasn't needed but trying not to insult him. She blinked a few times at him. Her mind still thinking of his overly formal tone. The brunette shook her head, a small nervous smile gracing her lips. She figured sticking to the truth was her only option. "Please don't do that. I don't like feeling above everyone else. Especially someone I'm going to be working with..."

Shifting from foot-to-foot, Mercia gestured around the hall. A few stragglers making there way to different destinations- once again carrying tools need for maintenance. This was the second time that she saw the ship and her crew in a disarray. She didn't like it one bit. It reminded her to much of the station she was on just hours ago. She even remembered the gory details of a certain ship in her first year there. Withholding a shudder of disgust, she looked around the hall once again. Her blue eyes landed on a rushing crewmen. Following an exhausted looking crewmen with her eyes, her expression hardened. An expression of complete sobriety and slight agitation crossing her bruised face. Yet, the only thing she could think of was 'What can I do to help?'.

"I have a few-a lot- of questions on the workings of the ship and the events that have taken place. But first, let me introduce myself." Holding out her hand for him to shake, Mercia's lips once again quirked into a crooked smile. This time 'round, it held a solemn undertone. "I'm Mercia Lamora, pleased to meet you."

"Ah yes. One of the new recruits, Miss Caroline-Marie Shirokuromahotsukai, or as she often refers to herself as, 'Maria', well, I am concerned she may effect our entire crew. She is a Genkshi, so naturally, the Doctor may have to tend to her at some point. She is constantly ingesting alcohol and vitamin C, far beyond any of our capabilities, and her behavior is rather, how is the way to describe, different. Alien, if the Human wills. She is overly naive and reckless, and is highly ignorant as well. Though, I personally see her in negative light. And also, a more concerning issue, is that she is highly ill, with a non-lethal disease the Doctor would be able to recognize. I know nothing of social manners, but I am to hope that someone is to look after her and manage her behavior. I personally do not want such a scarred past in my sight, however, I hope a more social Human, may understand."

Alex blinked several times, taking in Rokunam's words. "That is all," He added, finalizing his point and letting the doctor know that he was done.

"Um..." He began, unsure of where to start. "If you believe so strongly that Maria is as ill as you say, then I will do a check up on her." He turned back to Minn, but then turned back to the Exburnan. "I'm to assume that you're doing this for Maria's sake, and not because the Genkshi are ill reputed?" He questioned.

The Genkshi weren't exactly the most favorable of alien races, even humans were liked more, and that was saying something. They were a bit all over the place, as one could see from Maria, but many knew what they were doing, and could be very valuable assets. "Whether she has this disease or not, if Regina wants her on the ship, she will be."

Regina

"I don't know, Reggie." Vic said pacing the bedroom floor. "Sounds suspicious to me."

Reggie nodded, understanding where Vic was coming from. "The Council granted me permission to go on this mission. There's noway I would've gotten the funding without them. "

"So, why would they send the Guard after ya?" He finished for her.

"Exactly. I need to speak with them. That's the only way." Reggie decided. She adjusted the shirt around her shoulders. Nelly had insisted on cleaning the captain's outfit, stating that a good captain should always present themselves in good clothing. She was forced into wearing some of Nelly's things. A white crochet top that was slightly too big, constantly slipping down her shoulder.

And a pair of old shorts that had been buried underneath piles of fabric in a small box in the corner. They were a little snug on the captain, but they would do for now. Reggie ran a hand through her hair, letting a sigh escape her lips.

"I need a drink."

Vic laughed, his hearty bellow filling the room. "I agree with ya there." He stated. "C'mon, first one's on the house."

"The first one? I'm practically family!"

"Yeah, so the first one's free. Good family pays for the rest."

Reggie rolled her eyes, but followed Vic back downstairs into the bar. Several crew members were already there, making themselves comfortable. The captain immediately took a seat while Vic grabbed drinks from the back.

Rokunam

"If you believe so strongly that Maria is as full as you say, then I will do a check up on her." Rokunam nodded, possibly in graditude, even though it was more of an 'agreement' gesture, But then the Doctor added, "I'm to assume your doing this for Maria's sake, and not because the Genkshi are ill reputed?" "I hold no ill opinions of the Genkshi nor do I hold of any intelligent race, my general distaste in the K'siel not included," Rokunam responded, "It is true it is for her sake, I do not speak lies. However, I also have my own personal, albeit conflicted and possibly selfish reasons."

Rokunam glanced at the Shariva. "I am no different from many of the members of the crew, the Genkshi, the Shariva, and others. There are times in our sentient and emotional lives, all of which pass our eyes all so quick, but our minds never lose these experiences." Rokunam turned and headed slowly for the door. "Some of these moments are ones we wish to cherish and remember, so we feel these pleasurable emotions for the future. And others..." The normally dark creature darkened, turning it's head slightly and glancing at the Doctor while standing at the door. "There are other moments we wish to forget..." And at that dark note, the Exburnan left the room, to do whatever he did with his spare time.

(OOC: I feel like posting with Maria, but I'm not sure what to post that will have any significance in character development, interaction or plot gimmicking. All I can think of is a bunch of alchohol-related and explosion-related jokes. As for what kind of connection Maria has with Inasri, I have no idea, but it'd probably be something silly.)

Saein

Saein was ten years old and in a tree.

Annarein

Tom had said hello to her on the land cruiser, and she had said hi back, but he was still sitting at a table of his own now. Ann decided to let him be.

It seemed the captain and the man named Vic had returned. There didn’t appear to be a need to wake Saein from a nightmare anytime soon, so maybe now would be a good time to speak with the captain. While still letting it be a break, of course. Ann didn’t want to cause the captain to feel extra stress.

Ann snapped her fingers and pointed next to her, Ip got in position right away. It was indeed the captain who had returned with Vic, though she looked different. Ann couldn’t quite put her finger on it. She walked over to the pair. “Captain.” Ann gave a small nod. “Would you mind if I joined your conversation?”

Bond

Waking didn't feel nice. He needed more sleep, but had operated on less before.

Hearing Regina's announcement about the land cruiser decided where he would go. Off this ship. He needed to be alone.

He didn't speak to anyone on the short trip down, nor did he follow the others. He stole away and walked through the town that he didn't pay any attention to. He didn't need to educate himself on whatever flat planet this was. He needed a hiding place.

Once in the alley, Bond's mind spiked. It was a strange pain, one he thought he had experienced before, but also one he knew he never had. The tumult of confusion woke him up further and briefly, he wondered...how did I get here?

The yellow screwdriver in his pocket grew warm and he drew it out, eyebrows raised in confusion. Why was he here? Why was his screwdriver glowing now? Should he find Regina? Was Minn okay? Oh no, was Minn okay?

"...He...You...Are you...Comi...Agen..."

Muffled voice emitted from the screwdriver. Bond held it at arm's length, studying the contraption he had owned for most of his life, suddenly erupting with sound. It was an inanimate object, what was it doing!?

Now that he was alone, he could focus.

"I'm here," he responded, holding the screwdriver close. "This isn't exactly the best crew, Captain."

"Stick to your objective."

"Sir...there's...slipping."

"..."

What were his orders? "Sir?"

"Continue. We'll contact Ryn."

Nodding, he pocketed the screwdriver.

Blinking, Bond shook his head and started back to the cruiser, wanting to go back to his bed as soon as possible. He couldn't for the life of him, remember why he had decided to come down here in the first place. Shrugging and closing his eyes, he waited for Reggie and the others to return.

Minn

When she refocused, the machine hooked up to her had finished her stitches. She sat up, fingering them gently on her head. Fatigue was etched along her face, but she smiled briefly to the doctor, muttering a "Thank you" before standing and making to leave. She wasn't sure if she should go back to making food, or find a place to collapse for a nap. The crew needed to be fed though. "Do you know when their all coming back?" she asked, wondering if she had enough time even for the smallest of cat naps.

Her head swirled with unwanted images. Surely sleep was the only thing that would help.

"Please don't do that. I don't like feeling above everyone else. Especially someone I'm going to be working with..."

Dedrik nodded, understanding as to how the woman felt currently. "Apologies." he offered simply. He stood waiting, watching the woman dance from one foot, her gaze locked onto the crew around them as they were left attending to whatever it is that had to do. Patiently Dedrik remained, silent, until finally she spoke again, though this time with a certain amount of confidence, a sort of restoration or new purpose, new resolve forming within the woman.

"I have a few-a lot- of questions on the workings of the ship and the events that have taken place. But first, let me introduce myself. I'm Mercia Lamora, pleased to meet you."

Dedrik accepted the shake, taking her hand in his firm grip, the same one used to murder countless training dummies, as well as other real creatures or beings. But that last part wasn't anything too important. "Dedrik," he said. "Dedrik Vals."

With that he let go, returning his hand to the same position at his side, though maintaining an at-ease pose. Pleasantries aside, the man never enjoyed wasting time on frivolous conversation, so he cut directly to it. "My own mission briefing explained a general overview of the Captain's goals in this endeavor, one that didn't tell me much. I myself, and those others from the IDA are here as a military presence and defense should we ever encounter the need for such.. Otherwise intentions are to hopefully to discern the location of the mission human homeworld. I don't know too much else, other than what you may already know as far as the Intergalactic Council sending their guards after the ship. Reasons unknown to myself, and I had been hoping to speak with the Captain about such matters, though it seems it would have to wait."

The man stopped to allow the woman time to take in his words and comprehend them, then he continued, going on about whatever else he may have missed before finally finishing. "As far as the events that have transpired here, that's all I know. I realize you probably have more questions, and I will be more than happy to answer anything else if I can." With that, Dedrik once more fell silent, waiting.

Maria

Of all the places a Genkshi would go to, it's always Maria who was the unique one. Rather than going buying something to eat and drink, Maria took her time to explore the common Inasri neighbourhood. The sky had a beatifuly unique color (however, it was difficult to see the stars, Maria's favorite things) and the air was quite clean. Also, she blended in quite well with the human population, as she was just about identical. This planet was probably Maria's favorite, not for the atmosphere, alcohol or culture (which were all Maria's favorites), but for it was the first planet Maria had ever set foot on. The one planet where she preformed one of her shows, back when she was in the magic business.

Maria caught notice of a small shop. It read; "Korindou! Magic Shop". Curious, she entered it. It was small and quiet, shelves and racks packed with anything from voodoo charms to party tricks to cards of all kinds. There was nobody inside besides her and a tall man at the desk, with messy white hair and glasses, who stood behind a glass casing that showcased things like charms and cards that also served as a counter, and was reading a book. And the sound of Maria's entrance, he looked up. "H-Hello," he greeted. "Howdy, ze!" Maria called back. Maria took her time to explore the shop. She was highly interested in a lot of the stuff, some mystical, others juvenile. However, Maria was also interested in something else.

Maria walked up to the counter in front of the man and put her elbows on the casing, leaning in to view the goods inside. "Don't get not customers in 'ere very often, huh, ze?" Maria said, to start up a conversation. The man closed his book. "Almost never," he responded, "Sometimes human children check this place out and sometimes antique collectors do, but certainly none of your appearance." Maria looked up into the man's amber eyes and grinned. "I'm an ordinary magician, ze!" she responded proudly.

The two broke out into a long conversation. The man was actually a half-Human half-Genkshi, and was highly interested in the works of magicians, despite not being on himself. Maria even presented a couple magic tricks such as lighting her own hair on fire without making a move. The tall man was a bit of a nervous guy, a little shy, but he seemed to have proud views on his own opinions, but they made great conversationing together. In return, Maria told him all about her talents and the mission she's on. In the end, Maria got his IP number, so they could speak with each other online. Maria didn't buy anything, however.

As she walked away from the store, the little blonde girl looked up to her, walking beside her, and said, "He's a nice guy." "Yeah he was, ze" Maria answered, then asked, "Where were you anyway, ze? You were pretty quiet, ze." "Nuthin'" The girl chimed back.

Saein

Saein grabbed a higher branch and pulled herself up. Suddenly she could feel the hard borders of her shoes on the forks she had locked her feet into. What was this? A tree with feelings?

A web made by a small animal stuck to her hand. She tried to shake it off, and accidentally punched Ann, who had appeared beside her. For a split second she watched her four year old sister fall. Without thinking, Saein jumped down after Ann. The air that rushed over her face was time, they aged as they fell.

Ann complained “It’s dark. Why is it dark?”

Saein gave Ann the web, which had changed into a little device she had hacked together from a camera and fabric made by the materials prototyper she got for her twentieth birthday. “Here, use this.”

“Is this supposed to do anything, apart from giving me a bizarre feeling?” Even when falling, Ann liked using long sentences.

“That’s odd, it worked fine when I tried it with my eyes closed!” Saein was disappointed.

The ground appeared. It was big, and soft, and ...pink?

Ann stood next to her, giggling and unharmed. Her own heart was racing, she was embarrassed to have run, no, fallen into...

“I dropped my strawberry shortcake!” Minn cried. “I worked on that all day!” The cook’s face was full of tears, adding water and salt to the mess on the floor, which made her work even less edible.

Eddie stood by, blushing a deep red that was darker than the strawberries and looking very helpless and embarrassed. He held his hands in front of his crotch. Was he trying to hide something? Saein tried to look...

She woke up with a shock. Her datapad fell to the floor, just like the last time she had thought about human anatomy. A screwdriver followed. Saein cursed, stuffed her tools back into her pocket, and shook the sleep out of her head.

What was Ann’s jacket doing in front of her? On the other side of the room, Ann was talking with the captain. Saein figured that her sister had given her a pillow. Without caring about interrupting the conversation, Saein wrapped the jacket around Ann’s shoulders, gave her sister a big hug, and walked out of the inn.

She had some shopping to do. Apart from repair supplies for the Nightwing, she needed to look for some things that she would pay for herself: electronics parts, various monomer solutions, and a book about alien neurology. The last was easiest, she could simply order it online and receive it on her datapad. The other things weren’t hard to find either, and the shops too boring to describe.

Sitting next to the land speeder with nothing left to do, Saein took the bags of nuts and bolts she had accidentally stolen from her last employer and started on some precision welding. Dark goggles protected her eyes, her gun was the torch, and gloves she didn’t need. She was good at this.

It was nice to do something she was really good at. Almost as nice as sleeping, which she planned to do very soon, back on the ship.

Tom's eyes blinked open. He must have dropped off.
Looking around, he saw the captain still in conversation, and Saein in the act of leaving the bar. He dragged himself out of his seat, reminding himself that he had wanted to stretch his legs anyway.
He ambled outside and found her sitting by the landspeeder, welding something with her gun. He sat down next to her, resting his hands on his knees.
"I'd have thought you'd had enough of welding today!" he chuckled. "Heh... you know, I managed to salvage my old hand after Reggie removed it. I was wondering if you could teach me how to do ... stuff, so that it works again." He looked down at the brown replacement hand. "Because to be honest, this new one looks like it got fished out of a... hmm." He tapped on his knees for a bit, then realised how annoying it must be, and clasped his hands together in his lap, which really showed up the otherwise subtle size difference between his hands.
"And it's too small..." he mused.

Saein hadn't been busy for long when Tom sat down next to her. It would have been nice if he had helped her carry all that stuff she had shopped for, but that was her own fault for not asking him to join her.

"I'd have thought you'd had enough of welding today!" Tom chuckled.

"Precision welding is very different from fixing holes" Saein replied. She handed him the simple chess piece she had just finished, a knight. The head was a small bolt, three smaller screws were attached to it by the pointy ends to make a body, and the bottom of the piece was a nut. "Besides, if I don't finish this chess set on time, it won't be Eddie's birthday anymore."

Tom asked "Heh... you know, I managed to salvage my old hand after Reggie removed it. I was wondering if you could teach me how to do ... stuff, so that it works again." He looked at the spare part he had been given. "Because to be honest, this new one looks like it got fished out of a... hmm... And it's too small..."

Saein finished another knight before responding. "Fished out of a linree's butt? If it was, you should keep it, cause it won't be eaten a second time" she teased. She smiled. "Sure. Should be fun. But you're going to want to let me sleep first. Otherwise your hand might get stuck in a rude gesture by accident..."

Tom marvelled at the chess piece. It was skilfully made, and despite what it was made of, it did in fact look like a knight.
"I love chess. I used to play it loads, back at the Academy, but I've only ever won twice, and one of those times was by accident."
_ _ _

"Fished out of a linree's butt? If it was, you should keep it, cause it won't be eaten a second time"
He winced. He didn't know what a linree was, but if their butts were like other butts, they weren't particularly pleasant places to find a hand.
"Sure. Should be fun. But you're going to want to let me sleep first. Otherwise your hand might get stuck in a rude gesture by accident..."
Tom laughed at the image in his head of himself flipping everyone off and being able to blame it on Saein.
"Hah! Wouldn't that be a laugh!"
He noticed her datapad in her pocket and this reminded him that he didn't yet have one. "Hey Saein, you know those datapad thingys that all the crew have..." He remembered something else mid-sentence. "Oh, never mind - don't need one."
He had forgotten about the chip in his helmet head again. He hardly ever used it, and all it did was browse the internet and send emails. It also had a simple virtual chess program, but a guy can only put up with so much being beaten by his own helmet.
"How do I connect to the rest of the crew's datapads?" He asked.

“I’ve never played chess, so maybe you can teach and beat me” Saein said when Tom admitted he wasn’t very good at chess.

"How do I connect to the rest of the crew's datapads?" Tom asked.

“This is my own datapad, I’m not sure where some of the crew got their official Nightwing ones,” Saein replied, “but MAK just connected to it when I brought it on the ship and from then on everything worked automagically. So I guess you should ask MAK, maybe get a software update or something.”

Instead of making more chess pieces, Saein thought she’d see what the end result would look like. She cut squares of metal tape and stuck them to the bottom of her empty black tin of candy to make a board. “Meh, looks boring. Let me show you a fun way to paint... just stay here...” She ran off, placed the tin and the second knight on the ground a hundred meters away, walked back, dropped to her stomach, carefully aimed, and shot at the tin. It made a loud “DING” noise when the ball of hot ionized gas hit it. A second shot made the chess piece bounce away.

After retrieving the tin and the knight, Saein showed them to Tom. The metal tape was now shining in lots of colors in a random pattern, the same had happened to the knight. “A fun way to paint, but it does involve lots of walking.” She wiped the sand off her clothes, took the first knight back from Tom, dipped it in one of the chemicals she had bought, and heated it. A few seconds later it was covered in a thin layer of black plastic.

Saein placed the two finished pieces on the chess board on the ground. “What do you think?”

After watching Saein shoot the unfinished chess set, Tom wondered why nothing else turned to rainbow colours when she shot them. Maybe it was a special setting. He wanted a rainbow gun now.
"That looks ...AWESOME!" He said, as the iridescent colours shimmered in front of him. "Eddie is gonna be so chuffed with that!"
He had a crazy idea. He ran about a hundred metres away, yelling as he ran, "Quick, Saein, shoot me! Shoot me!"
...And then he realised that he would look like an idiot, walking around glittering like a rainbow fairy. He ran back.
"Never mind. Over-excited kid moment over," he said, breathing heavily from his 200 metre sprint. "Nice to see my body works fine again, though!"
He thought over the less recent part of the conversation.
"If you like, Saein, I can teach you how to play chess when you're done making the set. Then maybe your birthday present to Eddie could come with an opponent!" He grinned. "Or, he could play against me, and win as his present from me," he chuckled.

Tom ran the distance needed to make her gun mostly harmless (to metal objects, anyway, and while on the energy saving short distance setting), and yelled that he wanted to be shot. Saein looked at Tom, then at her gun, then back to Tom, then back to her gun, then back to Tom again. She decided against shooting him, because it would probably be her who would be polishing off the colorful burn marks later if she did. Tom was back in front of her before she knew it, it was as if he was on a horse. For a moment she wondered how running like that would make him smell under his armor.

"Never mind. Over-excited kid moment over. Nice to see my body works fine again, though!" Tom commented on his own behavior.

Saein guffawed. “So exactly how did you survive your childhood?”

Tom offered to teach her how to play chess before she would give the set to Eddie, and suggested letting Eddie win from him as another present.

“I don’t know,” Saein replied, “I’d like to give it to him as soon as it is finished, and then I want to go catch some Z’s. But I’ll bet Eddie would like an opponent if he doesn’t have to pilot the ship at the time.” She paused her chess piece making for a long yawn.

Most of the crew had made it to the Inn, all enjoying a cool drink and each other's company. Reggie couldn't help but feel the stress, even as she downed her glass of alcohol. Vic was next to her, chuckling quietly at the things he would see.

"You've got an interesting patch of crew members." He observed.

"This is only a few of the crew." She explained. "The rest are just as crazy." She laughed. Vic chuckled.

"You'll need crazy. Only crazy would follow you on this damned voyage."

Reggie nodded, her eyes staring blankly at the table. Vic's hand touched her shoulder, giving her a comforting pat. She smiled up at him. Finally, with the downtime, the captain finally felt how tired she was. When was the last time she'd gotten any sleep?

She couldn't remember.

She pulled out her datapad and quickly sent a message to the crew. In the next half hour, I will be returning to the Nightwing. Anyone is welcome to come and stay on the ship for the evening. Anyone else is free to stay on the planet for the evening. The Inn has graciously provided the crew rooms for the evening. We will make one last descent to the planet in the morning to restock supplies and then be back on our way. Thank you.

"Not staying at the Inn then?" Vic asked, he had been reading over her shoulder.

Reggie chuckled. "No. Believe it or not, my bed in my quarters is a lot more comfortable then the beds you have here." She downed the rest of her drink and then stood from her chair. "I'll be back in the morning. Tell Nelly, so she doesn't get angry with me for leaving without saying goodbye."

Vic laughed once again. She bid him a good night and left the Inn. She yawned, finally feeling the full weight of how tired she was. She just had to get back to the Nightwing and then she could sleep. She slapped her cheeks a few times, and finally made it to the land cruiser.

There she spotted Bond, waiting awkwardly for something. "Hey," Reggie said casually. "Everything alright?"

Bond

"All right? Everything's...fine." Except that I feel like I have to puke. "You?"

Bond fidgeted where he stood, kicking at the dirt by his boots and realizing he was holding the yellow screwdriver tightly in one hand. He immediately dropped it, though wasn't sure why. Then he looked at his hands. Where are my gloves?

"Are we...heading back?"

“So exactly how did you survive your childhood?”

Tom looked down at himself.

"I didn't."

As Reggie approached the land cruiser, he heaved a sigh of relief. As much as he liked the planet, it was boring him almost to death, and he couldn't wait to get some kip.

"I haven't even found myself a room yet!" shouted his brain.

That was a problem. He hoped there would be one left that he could take. If not, he'd have to sleep standing up, and although his robotic body was capable of doing such a thing, he preferred not to.

"Good to see you captain," he greeted her with as much politeness as he could muster from his half-asleep state. "Do you know if there are any rooms left in the ship?"

Annarein

The captain ignored Ann, or perhaps Ann had spoken too quietly when she asked if she might join the conversation. Or maybe the captain had thought Ann was speaking to a different captain because Ann was facing in the wrong direction - these things happened sometimes. Ann took the lack of answer as a yes, and listened in on Regina and Vic. She didn’t get much useful information this way.

After quite a while, the conversation stopped for a moment, then her datapad buzzed. Annarein let her fingers slide over the bumps on the screen, reading whole lines at once. Apparently the captain was going back to the ship, while crew members were welcome to sleep at the inn. Ann decided to follow the captain. If there was any information for her to study - there should be - it would be on the ship. She was also curious about this Minn girl, who apparently had not joined the trip to the planet. Which made sense, she was the cook and there wouldn’t be anything especially tasty for sale on this dull planet.

Saein

Saein slapped her forehead when Tom replied with “I didn’t” to her joking about him not surviving his childhood.

“Sorry, I didn’t mean it that way. I was just picturing a kid running around all day going ‘shoot me! shoot me!’” She waved her arms like a scared chicken to imitate the image in her mind.

She sat in awkward silence, welding the last few pieces. It didn’t take long to make half of them black, and the other half was painted in a single shot. Collecting them took some time, the chess pieces had bounced everywhere. A message telling the crew to go back to the land cruiser or sleep at the inn appeared on her datapad. She liked the timing of that. When she walked back, she noticed her sister, Tom, Bond and the captain among the small group gathering at the other side of the land cruiser. Bond didn’t look well, even compared to the tired others.

Saein stretched her arms and yawned. If it were up to her, this day was pretty much over, and if this were a democracy, it would be too. Come to think of it, if this were a dictatorship ruled by the captain, the result would still be bedtime. So naturally something would happen now to keep everyone awake. Saein looked around. Where was that thing that would keep her awake soon? She hoped it was something she could shoot.

Ann grabbed Saein’s left hand with her own and wrapped Saein’s arm around her. Saein began to say something, yawned again (this time remembering to cover her mouth), and successfully completed her short sentence. “Hey sis.”

Tom was talking with the captain, and she wasn’t interested in what was wrong with Bond, so besides Annarein there wasn’t really anyone around to talk to. Saein helped her sister and the furnak back into the land cruiser, sat down next to them, and hoped they would leave soon.

"All right? Everything's...fine. You?"

Bond seemed a bit distracted, which concerned the captain. Reggie sighed. "I'm okay," She stated.

"Are we...heading back?"

"Good to see you, Captain. Do you know if there are any rooms left in the ship?"

Reggie was startled by the sudden appearance of Thomas. Even the robot sounded tired. Everyone just needed a good night's sleep. So much had happened in the past days, and she could see the exhaustion in her crew's faces. "Yeah, Thomas, we're going back to the ship. Unless you would like to stay at the Inn?"

She gestured back behind her, towards the Inn she was just at. "I think we could all use a good night's rest. And, Thomas, there's the barracks where most of the crew will be staying. Although, our resident android, Dlew, stays in MAK's main computer room. It's up to you though."

Reggie sighed once again, and when the allotted time was finally up, she climbed into the pilot's seat of the land cruiser as the rest of her crew followed. When all were strapped in, Reggie started up the cruiser and headed back up to the Nightwing.

She barely remembered the trip. It was like she had fallen asleep, and didn't wake up until she was halfway down the corridor to her room. "MAK, did we get back okay?" She questioned, leaning against the wall.

"Yes, captain. The cruiser experienced no turbulence, and you parked it perfectly. You even hooked it up for diagnosis." MAK explained. "Is everything alright, Captain?"

"Yes, MAK, everything is fine. Just tired."

Running a hand through her hair, Reggie continued on down the corridor to the elevator. She stepped inside, and immediately told MAK to take her straight to her quarters. The elevator shot up, and the captain eagerly began removing her clothes during the trip.

The doors slid open, and she stepped inside her room, throwing her clothes to the floor. She collapsed on her bed, curling up around herself, and immediately welcomed sleep.

Saein

As soon as the land cruiser was parked, she unbuckled, jumped out and unloaded the stuff she had bought on the planet. Saein wrote her name on the supplies she had bought for her own little project and placed those in a corner of her station. Everything else went into the spare parts closet. She looked at the mess on the shelves, which had become worse during the recent wild maneuvering, and sighed. “No, no, this will not do.” She started sorting the... spare lamps... on one... shelf... but... had to... sit down for a mome... Before she knew it, she was asleep.

Annarein

Saein ran off without paying attention to anyone. Clearly she wanted to get everything that needed doing done as quickly as possible, so she could be in bed soon. This left Ann on her own. Where to now? She wasn’t officially the intelligence specialist yet, but getting some reading done couldn’t hurt. She found she couldn’t figure out the system her predecessor had used, if there was a system to the way the information was sorted at all. Also, there were paper books - how quaint!

Ann sat down with the first book that was in front of her, put on thin gloves, and flipped through it to scan it with her datapad. After four more books her hand got tired from holding up the datapad. She checked the time. Five books scanned in fifteen minutes, and no damage to the ancient paper. Not bad. Ann ordered the books alphabetically and put them somewhere out of the way, leaving her gloves next to them where they would be easy to find. Now it was time to read the books she had added to her datapad, but she wouldn’t do that here. She felt lonely in this room.

The least lonely space on the ship would probably be the cafeteria. Most likely it would also be the place with the most and best food. Ann stopped in front of the door to the cafeteria. “Do you think you’ll be allowed in here?” she said to Ip. “Let’s not risk it before I’ve ingratiated myself with the cook. Stay.” The animal sat down next to the door, calmly staring at nothing in particular as if it had received orders to guard against intruders that weren’t expected to show up anytime soon.

Ann let her hand slide along the wall, she used her other hand to look for obstacles or, preferably, a table and chair. Instead of something to sit on, she found heat. She had somehow managed to walk into the kitchen, and if she wasn’t careful she might burn her hands on something. “Um, excuse me? Blind girl lost in the kitchen. A little help please?” She wasn’t sure if anyone was there to hear her. If not, then she wouldn’t mind standing around for a while. This place smelled wonderful!

Minn

She wasn't going to leave the crew without food, no matter how exhausted she was. Slipping back to her station, she cleaned up a bit, made sure everything was spotless and began heating up the leftovers into a stew and making homemade pastries.

The flaking circles took up most of her time, wanting them to be presentable and well, pretty. Minn smiled as she smashed berries into a thick juice and thickened it with different sugars she had never tasted before. Experimenting was a great thing, at least with food. Pink and dark blue fillings made the pastries perfect, and as she laid them out in two arcing swirls on a platter, someone entered. Good, just in time for food.

“Um, excuse me? Blind girl lost in the kitchen. A little help please?”

Minn looked up from the platters and saw the girl with her hands out, trying to find a body or a chair perhaps. "Oh...hi," she mumbled, fatigue messing with her brain. Too many thoughts swirled inside for her to make sense of conversation for a moment, but she shook her head as she wiped her fingers on her pants. "I'm Minn," she introduced, reaching out her hand to the stranger's. "You must be one of the new ones."

Annarein

Ann had just asked for help, but it still gave her a little shock when someone grabbed her hand. "I'm Minn," the owner of the hand that held hers said, "You must be one of the new ones."

Ann grinned, glad that she had already found the girl she had been looking forward to meeting. “I’m Annarein” she replied. “You can call me Ann.” She shook Minn’s hand, then held it. “If you would be so kind to lead me a few steps away from all the hot things...? I guess I should follow the other wall next time.”

She paused for a moment, nervously shifting her weight. She wondered what to say next. “The food smells really nice. And you sound tired. I hope you don’t work too hard. So. Um. You’re Saein’s roommate then.”

Saein

She woke up with a cold back from leaning against the wall. Her neck hurt too. Saein groaned, her cold muscles made very clear they did not approve of the place she had slept in. She wagged her finger. “Fine, shelf, you win this time, but I’ll be back.”

Ip sat outside the cafeteria. “Aw, did you have to stay outside?” Saein asked. The furnak nodded, not as an answer to her question, but because he was being patted on the head.

Saein looked around inside the cafeteria. Was Eddie among the crew members here? She’d like to give him the birthday present she’d made. Then eat a little and go to bed. Actually she’d like to eat a lot, but she knew she shouldn’t if she wanted to get all of the Shifters out of her body.

Minn

She led Ann away from the refrigerator and stove to one of the table, saying, "Not too tired," she lied, wiping at her eyes. "And yeah. We're roommates. Not that we've had TOO much time to actually do the roommate thing." Sitting down across from her, Minn felt her legs sigh with relief, not wanting to move anymore. If she wasn't careful she would fall asleep right here, which was fine with her. The kitchen was cozy and warm. And smelled nice, of course.

Then another person entered. Speak of the devil. Minn smiled tiredly, and waved her over. "I made food," she said, pointing to the long counter. "This is Ann."

Edward Ackers

Eddie had been sleeping for far too long. But being shot and thrown around the ship was strenuous on the young man, or maybe he was just being lazy. But for whatever reason, he decided to finally get off his lazy ass and sit up on the small bed he had been laying on in the infirmary. It smelled in here, he had to admit. There was a stench that burned his nose and he wanted to puke. Though, after all the use this place was getting, it didn't surprise him much.

He decided that leaving the stench would be much better than sitting on a bed and inhaling it for no productive reason. Might as well see if he could have something small to eat before dinner. Or was it dinner? He couldn't tell. Coming out of naps like this always made him feel confused and groggy. His lips opened in a small yawn before he pushed himself off the bed, a stinging sensation right where he was shot. It still hurt, but it could be worse, and it was nothing he could not handle. Eddie hadn't even bothered looking around the infirmary to see who was there. He was really, friggin hungry.

Which is why when he was done moving about in the hallways, his ultimate destination was inside the kitchen, where he spotted a few familiar faces, and a new one. No smell got to him, but he did notice the food on the table. "Ah, seems all that medical stench is stuck with me." he laughed, looking at Minn, who seemed to be close to falling over. "Making dinner tiring, or? And hello, Minn, Saen, other." he really couldn't call the other by her name, seeing as he hadn't seen her before.
