18 years have passed for the Delegates. Since the fall of Gabriel and the Ex the world entered a time of peace and posterity. New trials stem from parenthood and a group of unruly teenagers threatening to rip the Delegates apart from the inside out.

Current Plot

This is a running plot so I am going to be updating this as we go. This section is going to be used as a running timeline of the roleplay.

Beginning:
The story begins right before the party of Jace, Selene and Helena. They are all turning eighteen and it's going to be a party to remember. All the allies and their families have been invited. The headquarters has been decorated and prepared for the party, everyone is a buzz with talk of the gathering. The allies take any chance they can get to visit and help turn more delegate attention towards themselves. Plus with Garrett now of age the allies with daughters parade them endlessly in front of Garrett hoping one will catch his eye.

Though politics isn't the only reason the allies are gathering, Selene is well loved and they just love a party. Midnight's parties are legendary, and everyone knows Midnight is going all out for her daughter.

The Building

The past eighteen years has posed considerable change for the building as well. With the help of everyone Midnight authorized a remodel to make the family life easier and also more private for the families. Lavish sections were added effectively giving each family a home attached to the main building. She also upgraded the whole place making sure that the building was truly sound proof even to the trained werewolf ears. There is a intercom system through the whole building that also acted like a baby monitor and video link when the kids were little. Each home has no less than three bedrooms, 2.5 bath, a fully kitchen, living room, and dining room. They are each decorated to the taste of the occupants.

Everyone finds this a lot more comfortable and also private. True to the main building style, everything is connected. It is set up so the kids rooms all have a door that leads to a main hallway. The adults felt like if there was an emergency the kids could get out easier this way. Now it is suspected they use it to sneak out, but whats life without a bunch of teenagers sneaking around.

All clubs are essentially the same, at least in Jace’s mind. Regardless of whether you’re in some Eastern European shit hole, San Antoni in Ibiza, the clubbing capital of the universe - certain things are to be expected.

It will be loud. It will be dark. There will be at least one guy who is near death - and nobody will know how to handle it. There will be two for one shots that taste like gasoline, drunk girls trying to take their clothes off, drunk girls who have already taken their clothes off, and a shit ton of drugs.

Comatose had all these things, even though it was a Danish club used as a front for immortal drug smuggling. At the end of the day, it was still a club. And Jace knew a thing or two about clubs.

The first thing he and Hunter did upon entering the club was get two beers. Normally Jace would’ve christened the night with a bottle of vodka or maybe even whiskey. But they had work to do, and they couldn’t afford getting sauced this early in the game.

So, beers in hand, they settled themselves at a small table off to the side. It was shrouded in the shadow of the spiralling staircase that led up to the balcony, making it an ideal spot to watch. It only took Jace a few seconds to spot a group of vampires. “Over there,” he said to Hunter, gesturing with his beer to the lounge area across the dance floor.

There, a group of alabaster skinned vampires, looking glamorous and emaciated in skimpy dresses and leather jackets, were clustered on cushions, sipping thick red liquid from wine glasses. “Think that’s Crimson?” Jace asked, taking a swig from his beer.

It was, undoubtedly, Crimson. It was too thick to be wine, and not the right color for normal blood. It had a shimmery quality to it, almost metallic, that suggested magic was at play. And sure enough, off to the side, there were the warlocks.

There were two of them, men, standing as bouncers, preventing human riffraff from entering the roped off lounge. There were others though, some mingling with the vampires, others drifting around with feigned aimlessness.

Two, in particular, stood out to Jace. They were both women and they were both, quite clearly, hunting. The first woman was Asian, Vietnamese if Jace had to guess, based on the gentle brown of her skin, and the sensual curve of her eyes. She was tall and willowy, with short black hair framing her face in an inky halo. She wore a slinky silver dress, with a neckline that plunged all the way down to her naval.

The other was black, petite, with a head of unruly dark hair that made her look absolutely wild. She wore beige stockings and a loose white frock that served to tone down her feral appearance. She wore lace gloves and Jace could only imagine what sort of claws she was hiding under there.

All warlocks have a Tell, something that distinguishes them from humankind, some unnatural feature that serves as a reminder of their demonic parentage. For the black girl, it was probably some sort of talons or scales on her hands, and as for the Vietnamese girl, Jace couldn’t tell.

“Those two,” Jace said, nodding at the warlock girls prowling the club floor. “They’re the recruiters.” He got to his feet then, careful not to look at the warlocks again. “Let’s go in.”

So, Jace, beer in hand, made his way over to the dance floor, where the two warlock girls were prowling like lionesses on the savannah. Jace willingly made himself the gazelle. He forced himself to stumble, as if with inebriation. Luckily, he had a lot of experience with being drunk, and could fake it pretty well.

So, harnessing his inner party boy, he meandered through the crowded mass of writhing bodies, and threw himself right into the back of the Asian warlock. She stumbled from the impact, and he purposely spilled his beer all over the Vietnamese girl.

She spun immediately. Jace watched her eyes, a crisp and unnatural black, light up with irritation, and then simmer with interest when she realize what he was. A werewolf. Potential prey.

“Whoa! Oh fuck, sorry about that,” he apologized, hoping he sounded like just another shitfaced club rat. Which was ironic. He’d spent most of his adolescence pretending not to be wasted out of his mind.

“Don’t worry about it,” the girl thrummed, looking him up and down, assessing his potential. Apparently she liked what she saw. Nobody could say he wasn’t suited to this mission. “In fact, let me buy you another.”

“Oh, really, you don’t have to do that,” he laughed, loudly as she placed her spindly fingers on his arm. “It was my fault - I’m just like, I’m like so wasted right now.”

“So you don’t want another?” she asked, her fresh red lips curving upward.

“Oh I sure as fuck want another one,” he said, and she laughed with him as they left the dance floor and headed to the bar. “I’m Jace, by the way.” Luckily, when people thought of Midnight’s youngest son, the name Jonathan Bravo came to mind. Few people knew him by his nickname, thus allowing him to use it freely.

“Lara,” the girl replied as they reached the bar. Jace doubted that was her real name. She was probably old as dirt, probably had some weird ass name too.

“Oh hey,” Jace said, having ‘spotted’ Hunter, and waved him over. “This is my best friend Hunter. Hunt, this is Lara.”

“A pleasure,” Lara said, motioning for the bartender to get them beers. The beers materialized immediately, not as a product of magic though, but a product of being a pretty girl. “I gotta ask, what are two pups like yourselves doing so far from the pack?”

“Are we that obvious?” Jace asked, laughing.

“It’s the accents,” the girl replied with a clever smile. Delegates naturally had a rather British sounding accent - a product of immigration and isolation - so it wasn’t hard for them to play it up a little.

“Well you caught us,” Jace teased, elbowing Hunter playfully as he took a drink from his beer. “Hunter and I are on a road trip of sorts, you see. We’ve spent our whole lives in England and we figured it was time to see the world. We can’t all be jet setting warlocks.”

Lara smiled guiltily. “It’s a nomadic life,” she said with a shrug, just as the little black girl danced over, twirling into existence like a dark fairy. “Oh, Carolyn, these are my new friends - Jace and Hunter. Boys, this is Carolyn.”

Carolyn gave them each a quick once over. It might have seemed sexual, but Jace knew what she was really evaluating. “So, which one is mine?” she asked, glancing up at Lara. “What? I mean we’re gonna fuck them right.”

“Carolyn!” Lara pretended to be abashed, but she was still grinning. “Don’t be crass.”

“I don’t like to waste time,” Carolyn explained.

“Hey, I respect that,” Jace said, lifting his beer in salute.

“I’m fine with either,” Carolyn went on. “But I kinda like the ginger.”

“Forgive her,” Lara said. “C’mon, why don’t we take this party outside before Carolyn offends anybody else.”

Jace exchanged a brief look with Hunter before they followed the two warlock girls out of the club. They knew they were walking into a trap, but they went onward. Jace’s blood was singing with adrenaline; fear and excitement coming together noxiously.

Outside the club, the night was cool, and smelled of gentle smog and sea salt. They had found themselves on a deserted patio overlooking the harbor. There were chairs and tables around, but no people. Jace was just thankful the girls hadn’t taken them to the roof. He was done with club roofs.

“Nice view,” Jace commented, gesturing with his beer to the boats bobbing on the black waters of the harbor. He wondered vaguely if any of those boats belonged to the Guild, and if so, how much Crimson they were carrying.

“I’d say,” Lara purred, as she latched onto him, gently knocking him into the wall. He laughed, trying to sound drunk, as she started to kiss him. Little, feral Carolyn was all over Hunter. Jace tried to kiss Lara back with as much enthusiasm as he could, but she was no Claire.

That became abundantly obvious when she inserted her tongue into his mouth. It was thin, long, and just plain unnatural. He made a surprised choking sound in response. Having heard it, Lara pulled away.

“What?” she purred, flicking her forked tongue like a snake. “This doesn’t bother you does it?”

Stunned, Jace just shook his head mutely. “Good,” she said, attacking his face again. He felt her thin hands on his neck, and then he felt a pinch. Something sharp had pierced his neck. He knew immediately that it was a needle, and he could imagine what was in it.

Lara pulled back again, grinning, this time with teeth. The smile transformed her face, from that of a pretty Vietnamese girl, to a shark toothed, snake tongued monster with black eyes.

“Night puppy,” she said sweetly just as Jace felt clouds entering his world. He blinked lethargically as the fog swept over his body. His legs fell out from under him, and then he was falling onto the asphalt.

He took note of several things just before blacking out. First, he saw Hunter drop like a stone, as wild Carolyn stood above him, syringe in clawed hands. Second, he saw a van idling in the alley next to the club, and lastly, he saw the men coming out of the van.

But when everything went dark, all he could see was Lara’s smile.

((Massive, massive colab))

"My friend."

Michael said as he walked in to the massive throne room where Amirah was telling a story while laying next to the Djinn on the throne of pillows.

"Djinn I need to speak with you."
Michael stopped dead in his tracks catching sight of Amirah as she rose to her feet.
"You look... amazing. Meow, if your husband could see you now, huh?"

"Michael, there is nothing amazing about the dress of a slave girl. And my husband would be immensely distressed to see me dressed in the manner equivalent to a whore; the fact that western civilization has sexualized this attire doesn't mean my husband would take pleasure in it. His desires are not as simple and base as that and I am not as cheap as this." Amirah said motioning to her outfit. Yes it was beautifully made, and yes at was authentic, but it was also the dress of a harem girl. Funny enough the dress of royalty was not much different, it was just less revealing in subtle ways. Her top wouldn't be showing so much cleavage, her skirt wouldn't be completely see through as it was now, her midriff wouldn't be completely exposed, her hair wouldn't be tied back all the way, her skin would be painted and she would have a sheer half veil on her face. It was the difference between being in a gown fit for a princess and dressing up in a slutty Cinderella costume for Halloween.

"It's not just that. You look like Jasmine, from Aladdin. Like the scene when Jafar put her in that red outfit. It's uncanny. I have decided we're in a fucked up Disney movie."
Michael said laughing.

"Do not presume to say those names in my presence, and it's Djinn not Genie. The western bastardization of my kind is insulting enough." The Djinn said rising to his feet. "Leave us slave, find something to occupy yourself."

"Have you even seen Aladdin?"
Michael asked the Djinn.

"You have to be jesting." The Djinn said raising a brow. "Slave, I said leave us." He commanded casting a sideward glance at Amirah.

Amirah nodded. "Yes." She said. "Yes what?" The Djinn asked giving Amirah chilly glare. "Yes... master..." Amirah unwillingly corrected. Amirah walked down the stairs, her bells jingling as she exited the room.

"Wow... if you told me Amirah could look like that I would call you crazy, but damn. You've outdone yourself my friend."
Michael said smiling.

"She is quite exquisite, a creature that puts all others to shame with her skill and expertise." The Djinn said smiling faintly. "Enough about my slave, now what do you wish of me?"

"How's everything going at Delegate Headquarters?"
Michael asked.

"The boy is still alive if that's what you're asking. They are working on a way to save him and working on getting a group together to retrieve my slave and the other two." The Djinn said.

"What's his condition?"
Michael asked.

"Critical, he's kept alive with machines." The Djinn said.

"Let's kill him and strike another blow to the Delegates. This will serve well to demoralize them, to show them who they’re dealing with."
Michael said.

"I will not directly kill." The Djinn pointed out.

"You will do it if I wished it but I won't. Who thought a Djinn would be so principled. I don't want you to directly kill him, just cut the power and backup power to the building. It is what I wish for you to do."
Michael said.

The Djinn sighed deeply. "As you command." He said snapping his fingers. "Anything else?" He asked.

"Yea, watch Aladdin. You'll get a kick out of it."
Michael said.

"Don't insult me with such a command." The Djinn said going back to his cushions.

"I wish it Djinn. Put on the movie."
Michael said.
"I think you'll like it."

"As you command..." The Djinn said through clenched teeth.

As Michael left the Djinn let out a slew of swears in Arabic as he fell back on his pillows. "Slave!" He called. Amirah appeared after a moment. "I'm not deaf, you don't have to shout." Amirah said placing her hands on her exposed hips. "Set up this movie for us to watch." The Djinn commanded as a white curtain fell and a projector appeared.

Amirah looked at the movie and groaned. "Djinn... you can't be serious. Why this movie?" Amirah asked.

"Michael has wished it. He thinks you look like Jasmine and I like the blue Djinn from the animation." The creature said.
"What a preposterous assumption. Westerners and their ridiculous notions." Amirah said flicking on the device and sitting next to the Djinn.

"He is much unaware of our world and culture." The Djinn said.

The movie came on and both Amirah and the Djinn were doing their best to not pay attention to the movie. They would never admit the music was quite catchy.

“Do you have a name?” Amirah asked after a few moments. “It isn’t something the creatures of this plain can pronounce but it means desire as I am the great Djinn of desire.” The Djinn responded. “I should like to give you one then that I can pronounce. If you would permit me to that is.” Amirah said. “No one has ever given me a name before… It must be a great name then, because I am of great power and presence.” The Djinn said. “Armaan.” Amirah said. “Ah… wish or ultimate desire. A fitting name for what I am. Yes, I believe I will accept this name.” The Djinn said after a few thoughtful moments.

The Djinn’s large appearance faded away to reveal that of a man barely twenty years old. He was handsome and youthful, his dark Arabic features prominent and appealing. He was in fact a creature of desire, and this form was no different. He was beautiful, and any woman would desire the company of such a man. What a sight he was to behold, easily the most beautiful man she’d ever seen. “Is this appearance more comforting to you slave? This is what I look like in the mortal world.” The Djinn said. The only thing that told him apart from a mortal was the glowing bands around his wrists. “Well, you’ll be much easier to manage. Can you imagine how difficult it is to mend clothing four times your size? Or to cook in a kitchen where I can’t reach the stove? I have to stand on a step ladder to reach the counters.” Amirah said. The Djinn laughed, it was sweet and jovial. “You’re funny slave. Very well then, for your comfort, I will appear to you in this way. I should scale down our home then.” Armaan said snapping his fingers and the whole of the castle sized down to accommodate that of a normal sized man. “Does this please you?” He asked. “Yes, thank you. This makes things much easier.” Amirah said smiling.

Looking at the boy, one would not think he was the lord of such a large palace. He looked young, far too young to be the master of such a keep. She was aware though that in the way of Djinn’s, this one was rather young. How else was he tricked into bondage, the older Djinn knew better but children were prone to mistakes. In the way of his kind, this Djinn was no more than a twenty year old, even if in their timeline he was almost two thousand years old. For every thousand years, and Djinn aged ten give or take. Which meant when he came to this world he was but a mere child. Servitude from childhood, Amirah could relate to that. She should hate this creature for binding her here, but she understood him, understood the debt that must be paid and that it was her that must pay it. She did not fault the Djinn or her father for this. It was fated long before she arrived in this world; there was no fault or blame in this situation.

“Armaan, will you tell me a story about my mother? I know so little of her and my father often can’t bear to speak of her, it hurts him too much.” Amirah said looking over at the young man.

“Come and lay with me and I will tell you all I knew of her.” The man said. Amirah was hesitant at first; she didn’t like the idea of being so close to someone other than her husband. “Come here, I will not touch you as Michael did. I’m not in the mood for intimacy right now and even if I was, I promise you I will not be as forceful as that monster.” The Djinn said. Amirah nodded and went to him, lying comfortably next to the boy. “How do those fairy tales begin? Ah yes, Once upon a time…” The Djinn began.

-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Over in Delegate HQ, Garrett was outside with Helena looking over the numbers on the paper.

“Well let’s see, they look like coordinates. Possibly the location of the new sleeper base of operations. This might be able to lead us to Stacy, Matt, and Amirah. Or at least to where we can capture one of those bitches and make her talk. I guess we’ll just need to follow the clues and find out.”
Garrett said examining the photos.

“We should cross reference these numbers and use the satellites to pull up images to match to the coordinates. That’ll prove the theory or eliminate it.”
He continued.

But just as Garrett and Helena were heading inside the power snapped off and the whole building went dead.
“Don’t worry, the back up generators will kick on in a moment.”
Garrett said. But that moment never came and neither did the power.

“Oh my god, Bri… he’s on life support.”
Garrett said rushing to the medical wing.

The whole wing was in total chaos. The doctor was shouting orders as he was trying desperately to keep Aubrey alive. He was engaged in a losing battle however. Without the machines keeping him alive, Aubrey was slipping away more and more with each passing second.
“Doctor is there anything I can do”
Garrett asked frantically.

“Get your sister out of here. She doesn’t need to see this in her condition.” The doctor barked.

Much to the protest of Selene, Garrett escorted her out of the room.
“You have to give him room to work Sel… He’s doing everything he can.”
Garrett said hugging his sister.
“Everything will be fine… it will, you’ll see…”
Garrett said to reassure her and himself.

In minutes however, everything was not ok. Aubrey’s heart failed, and they had no way of using the bypass to keep him alive. A few minutes more passed and the doctor came out to offer his condolences before going to call Midnight and inform her that Aubrey didn’t make it.

Midnight got the news but was unflinching. “Thank you for the news doctor.” Midnight said before hanging up.

“Good news for you my dear, Aubrey is slowly improving. Demonstrate to me how that key removes the bands and I will hold up my end of the bargain.” Midnight lied watching as the girl inserted the key into the band and it snapped off her wrist. “And the same thing will happen to the bands on Aubrey?” Midnight asked.

“Yes…” The girl said.

“Very good then, let’s give it shot then shall we?” Midnight said. “Shayde, bring her to the medical wing. Oren and I will meet you there.” She said.

Midnight stepped out with Oren and walked down the hall. “I’m sure you’ve figured out Aubrey didn’t make it. But the bands have dissolved off him, just like what happened when the sleeper agent died. One problem solved in that the bands are no longer on him, new problem is the boy’s dead.” She said opening the door to the room where the children were with Kora and Reith.

“Katherine, can you help me for a moment?” Midnight asked. She looked over at Oren. “Fortunately we have someone that can resurrect him, given that someone wants to give up their own life. I think I have the perfect volunteer in mind as a matter of fact.”

Katherine walked over to her grandmother and nodded. “We have to hurry before he crosses over, I can’t pull him back if that happens.”

Midnight picked up Katherine and the three met up with Shayde and the sleeper in the medical wing.

“What is this!? The boy’s already dead! You lying whore!” The sleeper spat violently.

“I’m a good person my dear, not a saint.” Midnight said violently grabbing the girl and dragging her into the room where Aubrey’s body was. Garrett and Selene were in there and the pair looked in shambles. “Out” Midnight said.

The two reluctantly left and Katherine walked in. “You think it’s too late?” Midnight asked.

Katherine shook her head.
“No he’s still around.”

“Good. Will he have the same problems Hunter did?” Midnight asked.

“No, Hunter had been dead much longer. Aubrey’s only been gone for a few minutes, he shouldn’t have many side effects. Memory loss maybe, but physically he’ll be good as new.”
Katherine said.

“Do it then.” Midnight said offering her hand to Katherine. Midnight knew it was ideally Stacy that would be helping to control Katherine’s ability but Stacy wasn’t available. Midnight just hoped she could control it like Stacy could.

Shayde forced the Sleeper to her knees despite the fact that she was thrashing and screaming wildly. “Without those fancy bands on, you’re as helpless as a kitten.” Shayde said.

“Katherine, her memories?” Midnight asked.

“We’ll get them in the process. It’s a side effect for me… I live their lives, the lives I am taking, sometimes for moments, sometimes for days. I guess it’s a form of punishment for what I do. It can be painful, you ok with that grandma?”
Katherine asked.

“I’m not ok with putting you through this.” Midnight said.

“It’s ok. Really it is, Aubrey is family to all of us. I’m happy to do it.”
Katherine said before giving the Sleeper a kiss.

Light traveled through Katherine and into Midnight. Katherine was right, memories and experiences started flowing through mind like a tidal wave. It was painful to feel everything the girl had felt, to see what she had seen, to live through what she loved through. They say that when you die your life flashes before your eyes, well it was true and Midnight was witnessing it, every painful moment of it.

Midnight leaned down and gave Aubrey a gentle kiss allowing the light to fill him and return the warmth and color to his body. After a moment Midnight lifted away from the boy and looked down at his face. “Come on kid, wake up.” Midnight said before slapping the boy across the face. “I said wake up damn it, I don’t have all day!” Midnight yelled at him.

Aubrey rolled off the stretcher groaning. “I’m awake! Fuck I’m late for training aren’t I? Why didn’t my mom wake me up…” He said scrambling to his feet. “Midnight I swear I will be down in five minutes.” Aubrey said before taking note of his surroundings. “Did Jace drug me again?” He asked looking around.

“Not exactly. What day is it?” Midnight asked.

“March 24th… Why?” Aubrey answered.

“Well acute memory loss seems to be rather a common side effect to this. He’s lost a couple months. He doesn’t remember Texas, or the canyon… or anything about Selene… Well this is going to be an awkward conversation.” Midnight said to Oren.

Aubrey wandered out the door. “Midnight I’m not even going to ask why there’s a dead girl on the floor. One of Koda’s ex’s?” He said smirking as he walked out of the room and grabbed a flashlight to see where he was going.
“Oh the kid has jokes. Great, well at least one of us is totally oblivious to how much shit is going on.” Midnight muttered. “I’m going to tell Arucan before he leaves that Bri is fine.”

Aubrey walked over to Selene and gave her a passionate kiss. “Hey babe. I had the trippiest dream… about some like barbarians riding dinosaurs… and your mom kissed me…it was weird. But I love you and I’m glad after that weirdness I get to see your face. Since it’s so dark, it would be a good time for us to sneak away for a little bit.” He said smiling at her but when he wrapped his arms around her, his expression turned blank. He shone the flashlight down at her stomach and went white as a sheet. “Selene… you’re… um… I… think… you’re…” He stammered before passing out cold on the floor.

“Oh shit… he doesn’t remember.”
Garrett said looking at his friend passed out on the floor.
“Ok well then, he’s alive, right? Better than dead, who cares if he's missing the last couple months. Selene that’s all you because honestly, I don’t want to tell him what’s happened the last couple months. Kid just came back from the dead, the last thing he needs is to have his heart broken. Maybe you break it all to him tomorrow?”

Shayde nodded picking Aubrey off the floor. “I’ll take him to his apartment. Selene, you can look after him while everyone gets this all situated?”

Asalah was just standing there looking at Aubrey in disbelief; he didn’t remember her, or the sanctuary. Maybe he would in time but who knew how long that could be. “Midnight, can I help you with something?” She asked.

“Don’t you want to be with Aubrey?” Midnight asked. “No… he doesn’t remember me, so I might freak him out. It’s better he’s with Selene, I’ll take my stuff out of his apartment for now and take the one next to him. Just until he gets his memory back anyway, if he ever does...” Asalah said.

“Fine, meet me in the office.” Midnight said. “I know where Michael has set up sleeper headquarters. There’s a base about a hundred miles out. We have to pass this information to Arucan.”

Garrett went over to Helena.
“Maybe we should go with them since we don’t have access to the satellites. We might get some valuable information. Maybe even tag along if we have to and then break off once we get there.”
He said to her quietly.

Midnight walked down with Garrett, Helena, and Asalah to find everyone readying for deploying in the office and gathering information. Arucan looked like a wreck, surely he thought she was coming to deliver the news his son was dead. "Well the bad news is Aubrey died, but the good news is we brought him back and he's good as new. Well… not exactly good as new because the process wiped his memory of about two months or so but you know, figured you'd take that over the alternative." Midnight said yelping when Arucan suddenly hugged her. "God if our selves of twenty years ago could see this scene, eh? We might just die ourselves." Midnight said returning the hug to Arucan. It was strange to think twenty years ago they were bitter enemies. Now however they were the closest of friends, practically family. His mother would be so happy, Midnight thought for a moment. And now that his father was also at rest, she knew he would be too. What a turn of events.

"Now let's get the girls and Matt back." Midnight said breaking away from Arucan. "And now that your son is fine, I expect you to be 100% focused. Same goes for all of you. Michael will be expecting you all to attack based in anger and revenge. He'll exploit that and it will make you fuck up and probably wind up dead which helps no one. So no matter how hard he tries, you need to keep your composure. He'll be using the girls to get to you in hopes you just rush in blindly. We can't let that happen, and as pissed as we all are, you know I'm right. You'll endanger yourselves, each other, and the girls. I know you all already know what I'm tell you and it's basic Delegate training 101, but you don't know Michael like I do. He will do anything to get to you and the more you play into it, the more he will fuck with your heads and the worse off you'll be. Remember, Michael always has an ace up his sleeve. The only thing that Michael will never break, is a deal and he loves games. That might be the key to getting the girls and Matt back." Midnight said pulling out some maps.

"Thanks to our lovely captive sleeper, who is now deceased, we have the location of the main sleeper base Michael has established. I doubt that's where he's keeping the girls and Matt but it's a start." Midnight said marking the location on the map. "No doubt there'll be plenty of sleepers there, so good luck. And if you need backup, I'll be available, tap the shadow communicators and I'm there." Midnight said giving all the boys kisses on the cheeks.

Midnight looked towards the door as Khalid walked in. "Are you going as well? Not dressed like that though mister. Glitter and deployments don't mix unless you're infiltrating a notorious prostitution ring." Midnight said pointing to what the other boys were wearing. "Deployment gear darling." Midnight said.

Just as Midnight finished up talking and was getting ready to see the boys off, a familiar face popped on the tv monitor. They had no power so this was a strange development. "Michael." Midnight said. "You look well."

"Oh and so do you Midnight. Ravishing as ever. Tell me, how are you all faring without technology?"
Michael said smiling.

"Oh you know, a throwback to the dark ages. We're getting ready to break out the corsets." Midnight replied smirking.

"Well that's me for you, always late to the party. I heard you've had a death in the family. My condolences Arucan, always heartbreaking losing a child."
Michael said grinning.

"Oh that's right, Aubrey. Well I'm afraid you've been misinformed. Aubrey is alive and well." Midnight said crossing her arms.
"That's impossible."
Michael said looking mildly perturbed.

"Oh my dear, nothing is impossible for us." Midnight said.

"A minor setback I'll admit but it's no matter. Now I bet you're wondering how the girls are doing? Now, now, don't be alarmed. They're perfectly fine. Well mostly anyway. You see, I have no intentions of keeping them. For a show of good faith, I'll show them to you."
Michael said chuckling.

Michael walked down a hall and whatever was projecting his image followed him.
"Now you may think I'm motivated by revenge, but that's just not true. Well Arucan maybe it's a little true on your part, but I promise you as for Stacy, it's entirely untrue. You see William, when you first met my dear Stacy, she made a deal with me. Don't be shy now, you remember, I know you do… but since the sleepers were dissolved soon after that mission, you thought she would never have to fulfill that deal. You get to go with her on her little mission to Texas, and she has to enter the breeding program we had going on. Don't look so surprised. I always honor a deal and in turn expect that others do the same. You didn't care what she sacrificed at the time, as long as you got to go save your precious family. I never did understand why she would go to such lengths to help a stranger. Pity now it has to cost her so much, she would have been a whole lot better off never knowing you."

Michael walked in a room where Stacy lay unconscious on a bed. She seemed comfortable but they could tell she was feverish and pale and certainly not doing as well as her surroundings suggested.
"Oh don't mind the way she looks. We were simply detoxing her off that horrible birth control you Delegates use. It can cause quite a fever. Upon examination we hit a bit of a bump in the road, you see she was already pregnant. Very early stages luckily. We took care of that quickly so now she can fulfill her obligations. Sorry about that William, but the good news is she hasn't been awake at all so she doesn't know a thing. I'm not a monster after all, so I won't tell if you won't. Our little secret, ok? I don't think she would ever forgive you for costing her two unborn children. Soon her obligations will be fulfilled and I'll send her back to you safe and sound."
Michael said.

"Oh yes, and Amirah. Well I'm afraid that was just revenge Arucan, and your wife is no longer in my possession. I mean we can still visit her however. Khalid, you'll just love this."
Michael said leaving one room and opening another door which lead to what looked like a completely different place entirely.

Michael walked down the opulent halls.
"Amirah my pet, where are you hiding?"
Michael called playfully.

Michael was met with a silver tray to the face as he rounded a corner, which knocked him on his ass. "I am not your pet." Amirah said continuing down the hall completely unaware there was some sort of communication going on between them and the Delegates.
Michael picked himself up and dusted his pants off.
"Awfully high spirited, isn't she?"
He said laughing.

He walked into a great throne room smiling. Amirah sat on the stairs and lifted her head to look at Michael. "What do you want?" She asked Michael.

"I wanted to give you a gift. You may not know it but I have your husband here."
Michael said pointing to the white sheet that was used for the movie. The Delegates appeared on the screen and Amirah looked at it briefly.
"Don't you want to say something?"

"I love you and don't do anything stupid. He's commanding a Djinn. Father, tell them what that means." Amirah said sadly.

"Tsk, tsk, tsk… giving away my secrets Amirah. That's very naughty. I was going to let them walk right into it."
Michael said.

"Amirah come here."
Michael said.

"No." Amirah said.

"Ah, I forgot. You don't obey me. Let's change that since the cat's out of the bag. Djinn, make her obey me. It's what I wish."
Michael said.

The Djinn walked down the stairs to Amirah but his black eyes were squarely on Michael. "You dare to break a deal with a Djinn?" He said.

"No, no my friend. Just that I'm ordering you to make her do things, I wouldn't dream of taking away your control. It is permitted based on the letter of the law."
Michael said smiling.

"As you command." The Djinn said grinding his teeth. "Slave…" He said looking down at Amirah with a sad look. "Go to him." He finished and the bands around her wrists and neck lit up forcing her body to obey.

"Now on your knees."
Michael said grinning.

"Do it." The Djinn said sitting down on the steps displeased with what was happening.

Amirah was forced to her knees and Michael grabbed her hair dragging her face up to look at him.
"You see Arucan, she can be tamed afterall. And she's so sweet… tastes like jasmine and honey this one. You lucky dog you."
Michael said looking down at Amirah.
"Nothing you weren't used to though huh? Tell me, did you like it? You naughty little slave, of course you did."
He laughed forcefully shoving Amirah to the side like a rag doll.
"Ah I'm already bored with this game. Let's play another. Oh I know… As Khalid well knows, you can't enter the domain of a Djinn without being invited. Let's have dinner together. I'll make you a deal, if you can find the door that leads here without the warlock using magic, I'll let you come here and have dinner with your precious loved ones. But you only have two days to find it. Sounds fun doesn't it?"
Michael said.

"Djinn do you have anything to say to Khalid? Khalid, you do remember my friend here, don't you? Something you were keeping from your friends and family Khalid? You have quite a few dirty little secrets don't you."
Michael said.

The Djinn came into view looking directly at Khalid. "I have nothing to say to this warlock. Everything that could be said between us, has been said centuries ago." Djinn said going over to help Amirah up. "Come on slave… we're done here." He said tenderly picking Amirah up and healing a wound on her head from the fall. "You will rest now and forget this whole exchange as if it never happened." The Djinn whispered and Amirah fell unconscious in his arms.

"Oh you're no fun!"
Michael called to the Djinn as he left.

"Time's ticking Delegates. If you can't find it, I'll never let you see the girls again and no amount of magic will get you here."
Michael said cutting communications.

Midnight sighed. There was no words for what just happened. There was honestly nothing to say. It was sick and fucked up, but they had to stay focused. Inside they were all torn, destroyed, furious, and hurt, but on the outside, they had to remain cool and calm. They had to get the girls and Matt home. They had their task and for now it had to be on Michael's terms. They would have to find a way to turn it on him. That was their task and in the process, take out as many of those sleeper bastards as they could. They had where to start, and the rest was up to them.

"Good luck my friends." Midnight said turning her attention to how to get the power back on.

Much of Will Helling's life was not how he had imagined it would be. As a child he had imagined himself as a warrior of his people, a champion of the Anevay. He figured he'd get married one day, to a beautiful girl in a ceremony on the banks of the River Sky. And he figured he'd probably have a couple of kids - strapping young boys of course - and he'd teach them how to string a bow and how to handle a spear, just like his father taught him.

As a teenager, his expectations of the future had changed dramatically. At eighteen, Will had thought little of having a family. He’d already lost one family, in his mind, why risk losing another? He was better off just being alone right? He’d figured he’d travel the world, kill bad guys, make love to beautiful women in hotel penthouses. And then he’d met Stacy.

He’d known, before too long, that he wanted to spend the rest of his life with this woman. And for a while, that had been enough. But then he’d turned thirty, and he’d gotten antsy. Maybe it was the Anevay in him, but his biological clock started ringing long before it’s time. He wanted kids, and he knew that Stacy didn’t, so he had put his dreams on the back burner.

And now . . . Now he had everything he wanted. A beautiful woman to call his, a son to carry on his legacy, a daughter to soften his heart . . . He was in touch with his roots again, but still a part of the Delegates . . . Finally, everything had come together.

Just in time to fall apart. They had just found a happy equilibrium. They had been so blissfully happy this last month, happier than they’d been in a long time. And now, Stacy was gone, and the kids were traumatized, and Will was going to kill somebody.

Before, he hadn’t cared who he was going to kill. He had wanted to kill indiscriminately. But then Michael’s rat face had appeared on the previously dead screen. And now Will was confident about who he wanted to kill. He knew how he wanted to do it too. Slowly. With his bare hands. He wanted to watch the life drain out of Michael’s face, see the terror in Michael’s eyes as he watched the fires rise out of hell to claim him.

Will was not new to rage, or violence, or even hate. He had felt hate like this before. Last time he’d slaughtered dozens of doctors and then burned down a hospital. That was child’s play compared to what Will was going to do now.

"Well?” Will said, his voice too loud for the eerie silence of the room. “What are we still doing here? We should be moving, looking -,”

“It’s not that simple,” Arucan interrupted, his eyes staring off at nothing, his gaze pensive. “We have to weigh our options-,”

“Options? We have no options!” Will shouted back, struggling to keep his rage under control. “We have no time! Did you see what that monster was doing to Stacy!?”

“I saw everything,” Arucan snapped back, his voice controlled, cold. But Will could see the red hot lava burning beneath the icy surface. Will didn’t have time for cool facades and diplomacy - he needed results.

“Well then why aren’t you doing anything?” Will demanded, turning to look around the dim room at Garrett, Helena, Khalid, and Midnight. “You guys agree with me right? We have to get moving - planning, searching! I mean - Stacy! You all saw what they were doing to Stacy!”

“This isn’t just about Stacy,” Arucan barked, slamming his hands down on the metal desk. “She’s not the only one in danger here. I know you love her Will, but I love my wife too. So don’t act like I’m not feeling the same things as you right now. My son nearly died today and I can’t - I can’t even go see him, because some sick fuck is holding my wife hostage. Trust me Will, I want to find them as badly as you do - I just don’t know how.”

Will collapsed into a chair, exhaling loudly. He gripped his hair with frustration, and stared down at the metal floor. “Well who does?”

“Khalid,” Arucan said, turning to the warlock who looked about as normal as Will had ever saw. No glitter, no mesh - just plain black clothes under thick leather gear. He wasn’t wearing any makeup, and his dark hair was loose and flyaway without gel. His cat eyes were haunted. “Michael knew your name - the genie knew your face. You’re a part of this somehow.”

“Few things happen on this planet that I am not a part of” Khalid said with infinite sadness. There was exhaustion in his usually spirited voice, as if he had suddenly remembered that he carried the weight of a thousand lives on his shoulders.

“What was Michael talking about when he said you had a secret?” Arucan questioned further. He had taken several steps forward, and was now standing threateningly close to Khalid. “We have shown you nothing but kindness warlock, but we can take it away just as easily. So if you have something to say, say it now. What are you hiding from us?”

“Hey - leave him alone,” Will said, getting to his feet and coming over to stand next to Arucan and Khalid. “This isn’t his fault!”

“It’s alright William” Khalid said, putting a hand on Will’s shoulder. He then turned back to Arucan. “I have not hidden anything from you - at least not on purpose. I have been alive a long time - longer than you could even comprehend. There is much you will never know about me, but that is not because I wish to deceive you. You people are not just my allies, but my family. Your wife is my daughter, your children my grandchildren. Soon you will be a grandfather, and those children will be my family too. We are all connected here. I would never betray that.”

Arucan’s face softened, his body slackening, but the pain did not leave his eyes. “What do you know about the genie?”

Khalid sighed. “It’s been years …. Five hundred of them actually” Khalid mused. “Back when I first met Amirah’s mother. The Ancients … they were the governing body of the immortal world before the Delegates came along, but even more elitist …. They, well we, depended on the mystical world much more than the Delegates. The Delegates…. You’ve always been analytical, practical. Back in the Alcazar, we had a lot of contact with mystical beings - spirits, demons, angels, gods even - and everything in between. That include djinns. That particular djinn …. it was in our possession at one time …. And now Michael has him …. That’s not good at all. The djinn knows too much about the Alcazar … But there’s one thing he doesn’t know …. The Ancients are still around.”

Arucan’s pained eyes lit up. “That’s impossible. They disbanded centuries ago.”

“They did disband” Khalid agreed “But that does not mean they disappeared. That’s the things about us Ancients - we’re hard to get rid of.” He took out his phone then, and began to punch buttons. “The other thing you need to know about Ancients - we don’t trust easy. The Alcazar may have handed control of the world over to the Delegates on paper, but we don’t let go that easy. The Ancients are still around, still watching.”

“If anyone can help us find the girls, it’s them,” Khalid said, looking up at his phone and around the room. “Their help is available - but are you willing to take it? The Ancients haven’t openly involved themselves in politics for five hundred years …. This is a big deal …. But Michael is kind of forcing our hand here.”

“I’m willing,” Arucan said.

“Me too,” Will chimed in. “If you’re one of the Ancients . . . Well they can’t be that bad.”

“The choice is yours Midnight” Khalid said. “The Ancients are not easy to work with. You might not want them stepping on your toes. But I just don’t know what other options we have.”

An hour had passed before the lights finally came back on. The backup generator had finally kicked in, which Selene very much appreciated, but she couldn’t help but think that it was too little, too late. Aubrey had nearly died thanks to that power failure - in fact, he had died. At least he didn’t remember any of that … Selene knew she would never forget.

She glanced down at Aubrey where he was sleeping peacefully in his own bed, a damp cloth on his forehead. Selene sat next to him on the bed, her legs tucked under her, her hands rubbing circles on her big belly to soothe the fussy infants in her womb. The TV was on, now that it was working, an old episode of Friends was playing. It was the only show her whole family had ever been able to agree on watching.

It was nice to feel close to her family right then, given how scattered they were. Jace was on assignment, Stacy was a hostage, Garrett and their mom were off trying to rescue her, and Koda was working management to pick up the slack. It was strange, part of her family was all over the place, but her new family was all in that room.

Aubrey stirred then, and Selene moved immediately to adjust the cool cloth on his head. He had been burning up when Shayde carried him back here, probably just his body reacting to all the stress. He seemed a lot cooler now, and so peaceful.

Selene still couldn’t process everything. So much had happened so fast. The panic, the despair, the anxiety, and finally, the joy. Aubrey’s survival was a miracle - but his memory loss was a two sided blade.

Selene didn’t know how to feel about it. A part of her was angry and frustrated; they had been through so much, so much pain and suffering, they had made so much progress, and Aubrey didn’t remember any of it.

Another part of her though … was secretly glad. Maybe she was just being nostalgic, but the idea of Aubrey not hating her anymore …. It was appealing. So when she saw Aubrey’s eyelids flutter, she knew she couldn’t bring herself to tell him the truth. At least not yet. She couldn’t bear the idea of causing him more pain.

So she made the decision to lie, just for a little while. So they could both be happy, just for a little while. “Morning sleepy head” she said, hoping he couldn’t see the tears in her eyes. She blinked them away quickly.

“I know you must be freaked out now” she went on, running her fingers gently through his hair. God, it was like going back in time. She had missed this familiarity, this intimacy. It was like a drug. “The doctors say you have amnesia from the … accident.”

“This must be a big shock” she went on, gesturing to her stomach. “I can’t believe I’m telling you I’m pregnant all over again - but yeah, they’re yours. Oh, right - it’s twins. Double shock. Sorry. You freaked out the first time I told you, if that makes you feel any better.”

“I’m sorry to drop such a bomb on you” Selene continued. “I know how rough this must be … I just, I love you so much okay? As long as you remember that … We’re set.” She leaned down then, and kissed the cloth on his head. She glanced down at her stomach briefly as she pulled back. “We’re all set.”

The lights snapped out in the waiting room. Cyrus leapt up to his feet and looked over at Dinah accusingly, but Dinah just lifted her hands in confusion, indicating that she had absolutely nothing to do with it. For once she WASN'T the one killing the electrics. They'd made everything modular partly because Dinah kept inadvertently breaking stuff with her ability so as even if her powers did spark off she could only take out one room at a time. Evidently this was a lot more than one.

She reached out and got a glass of water that sat on the table, dipping a finger in and creating a bloom of luminescent algae that lit up the room dimly. It was enough to see around properly, and Dinah hurried it into the other room, where chaos had erupted with Aubrey.

Cyrus scowled though. Main power and backup power goes at once? Some kind of magic was involved. He was pretty certain about it.

-----
Oren was waiting in the corridor. She was a vampire, and being in the dark was absolutely no problem for her. Of course it wasn't the dark that was the issue, but all the other things that wouldn't work.

When Midnight re-appeared the vampress looked up, seeming grim, albeit not exactly upset. These kind of things didn't really upset Oren. She'd seen far too much grim stuff to get flawed by many things.

"I assumed as much." Oren responded with a nod. She was aware that they had some means to change that though. Oren had never really been a fan of the whole 'magical' way of doing things, the whole 'spirit world' bullshit that Amirah and Helena seemed to bang on about, but there weren't really any alternatives that were worth considering.

She waited at the back and watched their little ruse regarding the captive sleeper. It was brutal, but effective given the situation. Oren couldn't say she had an awful lot of sympathy for the woman. Regardless of what the sleepers did with their agents, they were murderous bastards at that point, and in Oren's opinion were best put down like a killer dog.

Regardless, it seemed to work, with the usual side effects.
"Well, considering how many brain cells you're likely to lose by dying, I'm not exactly surprised." she responded.
"If this carries on we're going to have more undead teenagers in this place than live ones."

----
Helena stood in the corridor listening to people planning, running her fingers over the hilt of the knife that she had stuffed into the pocket of her coat. She wanted to go and get there and do something, but Garrett had had them go in, and now things seemed to be at a halt with people arguing over how to deal with matters.

Helena had waited outside the door for most of it, feeling impatient. She had heard a lot of what had taken place Aubrey's death and eventual return, and she felt sort of bad that she didn't feel more...part of it. Invested in the outcome, feeling some kind of wish for things to turn out okay. And yet as much as she would like to tell herself she was desperate to see AUbrey come out of things okay, she felt like she was lying to herself a little in doing so.

"Well, how much would him dying effect you really?" came the question, as she cast a glance over at Leviathan, who had thought to ask.
"I spend all my time listening to the lies people tell themselves and it tires me. His death would not really matter to you, not truly, just like your death would not matter to him, or most of these people that you'd laughably refer to as your friends. Your family, I'm sure, Garrett, certainly. Others? Well, they might say they they value you, but everyone tells the same lies to themselves in order to pretend to be a 'good person'. And that kind of indifference would be fine if it came on an equal footing but....you know it doesn't, don't you?"

The demon places its clawed hands on her shoulders and spoke into her ear.

"You went along to try and help that Bravo girl when the wolves took her, and how does she repay your kindness? By shunning you and pushing you away like you're some sort of monster. It concerns me that you spend far too much time trying to aid in the troubles of those who wouldn't return it.

They all rush to save the others, don't they? When it was you in trouble, didn't it all seem to be a bit of an afterthought? Didn't you feel like they just seemed to have better things to do when it was the half-breed bastard that needed them?"

Helena cringed inwardly. She hated hearing stuff like that, not in the least because the more she heard it the harder it was to tell if it was fanciful or whether her trying to tell herself things were okay was the fanciful version.
"Pleas,e just leave me be for a bit, I need to think some stuff over."

"Alright, but I hope you're not about to back out of our little deal. That'd make me sad." Leviathan replied with an extremely false look of disappointment, before she found herself alone in the corridor once again.

((And huge colab because the universe and RPG have aligned to make this post possible.))

Garrett walked out of the room and went to Helena.
"Ok, sorry for the delay but we can't just run in to this. These are sleepers and they can be very dangerous, especially since Michael is commanding a genie."
He said leaning on the wall.

"The location to the base that we got off the dead sleeper, well the girls aren't there. Stacy somehow managed to get a tracker on her and she left the receiver in the kitchen during the attack. It was found a few minutes ago and we've determined that Stacy's located at a separate base. Since Michael walked from Stacy's room to the door that leads to Amirah, we know he's keeping them relatively together. I doubt he would let them out of his sight anyway so it makes sense."
Garrett explained.

"It's not that I don't want to do this, I just want us to be as safe as possible doing it Helena. I can't lose you and I won't let you get hurt. But you know, that being said... The others are going directly for the girls but there's reason to believe that Matt isn't with the girls. His ability is perfect for conditioning sleeper agents, so he is more than likely located in a nest of sleepers in need of conditioning. I think he is at the base the dead sleeper revealed and it's obvious they launched their attack from there so we might find the bastards that invaded HQ. I think we should pay them a visit and teach them a little lesson."
Garrett said smiling.

He knew how Helena could get antsy and he was sure listening to the group inside argue about what to do wasn't helping. Garrett wanted to see the girls home safe, Matt too, but he also wanted revenge. By going after Matt while the others went after the girls, it served to complete all their objectives.
"We should go. We have to set up base camp outside the facility and develop a plan before nightfall."

Grant walked out of the room and went to his daughter. "Helena, listen I really don't want you to go because I'm your father and I love you. But hear me out before we both head out on equally suicidal missions. I have trouble realizing you've grown into such a strong woman that doesn't need her dad following behind just in case she gets hurt. I will never want you to be in danger or in a situation where you could get hurt but you're all grown up now and you've become so strong and independent. So I won't try to hold you back, it’s about time I started treating you like the adult you are, and believing in you. I trust you to stay out of unnecessary trouble, and to take care of yourself because contrary to how anyone has ever made you feel or how you view yourself, you're very capable and strong. More so than most of the people here and you belong here with us because you're one of us and that will never change or go away. So I have to let you be one of us and that sometimes means being in dangerous situations. I love you sweetheart and good luck." Grant said giving her a kiss on the cheek.

He looked over at Garrett. "Try not to die." Grant said.

"Oh so she gets this epic father talk and I get try not to die?"
Garrett said chuckling. Epic father talk was an understatement. Garrett could count on one hand the times that his father had ever addressed him like that. He knew Grant was a different type of person, more emotional, more open, but it still amazed him how Grant was so expressive with his emotions when most people in the Delegates were emotionally inaccessible. When Grant cared about someone, they knew it. He said it regularly, and showed it even more with his kindness and concern, with his consideration and admiration. For all his faults, Grant was a really great guy and an even better father. Garrett looked up to Grant a lot, respected him, and admired his open heart. If Garrett ever became a father, he would want to be like Grant in some ways. Helena and Hunter were really fortunate to have a father with those types of rare traits.

"I amend my statement." Grant said. "Try not to die again."

"Will do."
Garrett said laughing.

"Good. I'll see you soon." Grant responded walking back in to the room to see if they made a decision on accepting the help of the ancients.
Midnight looked over at Khalid “Toe stepping is the least of my concerns Khalid. If they’re going to help get the girls and Matt back, I’ll cooperate fully.” Midnight said.

Now was she overly thrilled about working with the ancients, no, but she would work with Hitler if it meant getting her daughter, best friend, and their resident psychologist back. The ancients were a complex lot and they did take the concept of elitism to the extreme but Khalid felt they were out of options. Midnight had plenty of ideas how to do this without them but they were dealing with a very powerful creature at the whims of a psychopath. The supernatural up until recently wasn’t the Delegate’s forte, so the ancients would have a much better chance of success.

“Khalid… just be careful working with them. I know you know what you’re doing so don’t think I’m saying it out of a concern you don’t have control over the situation. It’s just I know Michael, and he’s a lunatic, but he’s also a genius that thinks ahead. Just be prepared for anything. And get your asses moving, we don't have all day.” Midnight said.

Michael had already gotten to them. By attacking Aubrey, he had clouded Arucan’s judgment. By hitting Will in a soft spot, he had fueled his anger. They could easily become irrational and make mistakes that would cost them dearly. And Grant, he could hardly contain his emotions on a daily basis, not to mention when his daughter was in danger. In fact, he was scary calm which was the first sign he was going to freak out at some point. Midnight couldn’t help but think it should be her going to face off against Michael, she knew him best, could predict his behavior, and she could shut down emotionally. But she couldn’t go and she needed to learn to trust others. She was placing her faith in them to handle this, and she knew they would come through. In the meantime she would help Garrett and Helena locate Matt at the other facility. She would let go of her careful grip of control to do what’s best for the people in danger, but she would be there if anyone needed her.

*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

Michael giggled sitting in the throne room.
“Predictable. Why are they so predictable? God it almost ruins the game!”
Michael said angerly throwing a vase to shatter on a wall.
“Ancients… well I called it. What do you think they’ll try to do?
Michael asked.

“They may be powerful and arrogant but they aren’t stupid. They will not cross you when you have the harbinger of their destruction. They care little for this world and the people in it; in fact they are not even loyal to each other. They would destroy one another if it would benefit them. They only remained together here in Alcazar because of the energy and power that once filled these halls, once made this place as magical as the creatures residing in it, and which once made them like gods. This place has been dead for a long time, all the energy that was once here, is spent. Now it is a pit for magical creatures, sucking away their powers when they set foot inside. It is no coincidence they abandoned the palace. It’s almost a shame; this place in its glory was quite beautiful. It was alive at one time, it had a soul, had a heart. It was once a grand city and now this palace is all that remains.” Armaan said.

“Jeez if you love it so much, why don’t you marry it... It’s just a palace, and buildings aren’t alive. Is that why you live here all alone? Because you feel like you have a connection to it? Ugh don’t answer that, of course you have a connection to this place. It’s where they first enslaved you isn’t it? Pity for you, good for me I guess. Having Amirah certainly changed the playing field. It is no coincidence that they disbanded very shortly after her mother was killed. Poor creatures lost their connection to that vital source of energy they need to use all their awesome powers. And now I have access to it through you my friend. Why are your powers not drained here? Like the others would be?”
Michael asked.

“I am not of this world, and my power does not come from here but from the spirit world that I was born from. The ancients and magic users are powerless here without the energy of this place flowing because they do not have a direct connection to the spirit world. There has only ever been one bloodline with the ability to tap into the endless energy of the spirit world and that bloodline grows stronger with every generation. Amirah’s bloodline on her mother’s side. It is why she is also unaffected by the void here. This place has turned from a spring giving energy to the people here, to a void that sucks it up. What would you do with the ancients if they did side with you after they realize they’re powerless in this palace?” Armaan asked.

“Funny enough, nothing. I don’t want them to do anything to hinder or help the Delegates once they set foot in here. I simply want the delegates to think they stand a chance and then to realize their last hope is gone. I have spent years planning this, years and years of thinking, planning, and preparing for every move they could make, plotting for every contingency. How can they think that coming up with something in hours could stand against all that I have put into this masterpiece? Tell me, what do you think Khalid’s reaction will be when he finds out his destination is Alcazar?”
Michael asked smirking.

“I don’t know. This place holds a lot of good and bad memories for the warlock; it might be overwhelming to find it still stands at all. The Ancients were under the impression this place was destroyed with the city during one of the altercations involving a certain dragon having a fit. Dragons can be so temperamental. And the energy that was once here was like a drug to them. When it dried up, they went through a form of withdrawal. It had a certain power over them, and to be reminded of this and the things this dependence made them do, would be painful.” Armaan said.

“Very good. Anything that will cause him discomfort will make me happy. Resurrecting this place was a good idea my friend.”

Michael said smiling.

“I did not resurrect this place. I rebuilt it, stone by stone and restored it to what it was before it was decimated. I don’t think anyone could resurrect the power that once dwelled in this place.” Armaan said lazily eating grapes off a tray.

“Is that so? And what would happen if one did return the power to this place exactly?”
Michael asked.

Armaan looked sharply at Michael. “It is not possible.” He snapped. “But if it could be done, it would again endow the inhabitants with the connection to the energy of the spirit world. A way that you can understand would be… this place was built on a well, and that well was fed from the spirit world. Once the well dried up, the energy stopped flowing, and this place died. I do not know whether someone blocked off the connection from the other side or if it naturally closed.” Armaan said. “But again, it is not possible to restore. The connection between the worlds is lost. Better to forget it ever existed and enjoy the beauty of this place.”

“Yes… the beauty of it. Djinn, do something for me. Is there a way to get rid of someone’s memories for good? So there is no chance of them being resurrected or brought back?”
Michael asked as he inspected the vein like channels running all over the stone. Perhaps this place was alive at one point. Living structures, he had heard of them. But they were an immortal’s bedtime stories, the stuff of legends.

“Yes.” Armaan said raising a brow.

“Do that to Amirah. I want all her memories gone starting from the night before she met Midnight. And remove her psychic ability so she can’t pull them off someone else. I want no trace of her memories left, no way for them to resurrect them. Is that possible?”
Michael asked.

“It is, but why do you make her to suffer so much? She will lose half her life, her memories of her children, of her friends, her family. She will be left with nothing but grief and despair of a life spent in a harem. It isn’t right.” Armaan said.

“I think someone’s grown attached. This isn’t to make her suffer, it’s to help her. You know she has to stay with you until her time is served. Why would you want her to be burdened with thoughts of her family during that time? Would you like her to suffer as she sits alone here with you? This way we both get what we want. Arucan suffers knowing he has lost his precious wife, and Amirah will not suffer being here and all the while missing her family. Don’t think of it like you’re hurting her, you’re saving her my friend.”
Michael said grinning.
“Plus you don’t have a choice in the matter, it is what I wish.”

“What you call saving, is a horrible fate. But I will do as you command… because for now I have no choice in the matter.” Armaan said.

“For now you say? I promise you genie, you will never have another master. No one will pry you from me and in fact they cannot. No one will find the object that you’re bound to.”
Michael said laughing.

“We shall see about that Michael. Nothing is forever and your control over me won’t be either. Someone else will take me from you and once I am free of you, you have my word I will make you pay for what you are doing. Trust me on one thing master, I always keep my word.” Armaan warned.

“Aren’t you cute when your feathers are all ruffled. Hurry along now, I can’t wait to see Arucan’s face when he realizes his wife doesn’t recognize him. His whole happy life up in smoke. What a shame. You know the ancients were wrong to enslave you genie, you’re not the evil creature they assumed you were. Too bad good doesn’t always win. ”
Michael said laughing.

Armaan sighed deeply and left Michael in the throne room. He walked slowly as if to avoid what he was commanded to do. But try as he did, he still ended up in front of the bedroom where Amirah was sleeping soundly. He opened the door and walked over to the girl. “Forgive me, but I have no choice.” Armaan said even though Amirah could not hear him. To truly erase someone’s memories you couldn’t just write over them or repress them, couldn’t even simply erase them. Memories that were left in the mind at all, could be brought back, could be restored. The only permanent way to erase someone’s memories was to remove them from the body and soul completely. The Djinn touched Amirah’s forehead and a stream of light flowed into the Djinn’s hand. He shoved the tiny ball of light in a glass locket and sealed it so no one but Amirah could open it. The necklace sparkled and shone like fractals of light reflecting off diamonds and as he set it down Amirah’s eyes shot open and a look of alarm crossed her face.

“Don’t be afraid… I will not harm you…” Armaan said sitting down on the corner of the bed. “You’re safe now.”

“I’m… not…” Amirah stammered looking around. “No, you’re not in the harem. You will never go back there again.” Armaan said. The Djinn made a sound of surprise when Amirah shot into his arms and clung to him. He froze for a moment unaware of what to do but after a moment he wrapped his arms around her. He looked down when he felt his chest moisten with tears. “Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you.” Armaan said. “I am not afraid, I’m happy. I’m so happy. I feel like this is just another dream.” Amirah said smiling through the short sobs. “Is it real this time?” She asked. “Yes… yes it’s real.” Armaan answered frowning as he held her close to him. He wished it wasn’t.

“Amirah’s bloodline…”
Michael mumbled walking down the halls. He made his way to the library and began sorting through texts and manuscripts. A living palace… Amirah was tied to this place somehow, her bloodline had something to do with the magic here and Michael could feel he was on the brink to breaking through the veil of secrecy that surrounded this place. Amirah was the key, he knew that much. Now he just needed to know how to use her to unlock the door.

Aubrey awoke to Selene and for a second he thought that he had been dreaming. But it wasn’t a dream and he quickly realized that Selene was still pregnant and through some cosmic joke, he didn’t remember. His eyes were trained on her stomach as she spoke and he could only nod because words were just not coming. Selene was pregnant, he had gotten her pregnant, she was going to have his baby, babies actually, he was going to have a family. It made him feel like the room was spinning. “I…” He started but the rest of the words died in his throat. “I’m sorry Selene…” He said finally.

“I have to tell you something, and I want you to hear me out. A lot has happened… and we’ve been to some dark places. I feel like sometimes in our relationship it’s been one sided on both our parts and I know I’m just as much at fault for it as you are. We’ve not had the healthiest relationship in a lot of regards. I actually wanted to tell you this for a while because I know we’ve both had moments when we weren’t happy. We may not always be the best for each other but I know that I love you. I know that no matter what has made us sad, or has caused conflict, or has made our hearts break, that we can work through it. Because it’s always been you Selene, and not because you’re my princess and I’m your prince. Not because we’re the perfect couple and we were meant to be. But because there’s something there that’s been tempering inside. Getting stronger and pushing me towards you. It’s like my mind has at times left you, and it feels like my body has too but my heart, now that never left you.

I had a long time to think about this, and I have. Maybe in the beginning we weren’t put together exactly how we should have been. Maybe we had to break so that we could pick up the pieces and put them together correctly, in a better way. Maybe it was Garrett’s death but I feel broken, my heart feels broken. And in there is also this strong desire to put it back together but I want to do that with you. It won’t be easy, and I know there’s a lot we have to work through but I want to work through it with you. I want to pick up the pieces and build something better, something stronger. I know we will be the better for it, our children will be happier for it. We owe it to ourselves to try, to say that we… we gave it everything we had. I want to be happy Selene, and I want to be happy with you. I want you to be happy and to be happy with me. And most of all, I want our children to be happy, and to be happy with us, together, as a family. I know I’ve been a bit of a prick about what happened to Garrett and probably a boat load of other stuff, but do you think that could ever work? Do you think we could ever get there?” He asked looking at Selene. “I’m sorry if I just dropped all this on you, and if I have said it already I really apologize. I don’t remember saying it and the last thing I remember was wanting to talk to you about all this and have this conversation but then Will came over and wanted us to go somewhere, and then it just gets fuzzy. I guess I just needed to get it out.”

He placed a hand gently on her belly. “I’ve always loved you Selene, maybe not in the right way, maybe sometimes in a love hate kind of way, but I have always loved you. Now, now I can feel deep in my bones that I want to love you in the right way. A whole lot doesn’t make sense to me right now, but that does. You do and these babies do. I know this is right, I can feel it. Everything happens for a reason.” Aubrey said looking up to Selene and smiling. “And god you have never looked more beautiful than you do right now. I love you Selene.”

A club is a club is a club, whether it was filled with immortals or humans, usually both. The familiarity of it made Hunter think that maybe he partied too much. On second thought, he certainly partied too much, but that was Hunter and that was the way he liked it.

This part of the mission would be easy. Get drunk or act drunk in a club and get kidnapped. It actually wasn’t something new. Jace and him had been kidnapped plenty of times from clubs thanks to Jace’s parentage. Someone with a grudge against his father, someone trying to use him to kill his mother. Hunter was usually along for the ride and even Claire had gotten caught up in it a few times. It was bound to happen when you were attached to the hip of a person that had a target the size of Seattle on his back. And Hunter thought his family had issues.

“Alright time to get intentionally kidnapped this time. Aren’t our jobs fun?”
Hunter whispered to Jace before they walked into the club. The two entered the club and went to the bar to get a drink. Jace was scanning the club subtly and Hunter took a moment to flirt with the bartender because lets face it, something was fishy about a ‘drunk’ kid not hitting on the bartender in an inappropriate manner.

On the back of his mind though as they were approached by the two warlocks was Claire. He took just a brief second to hope she would stay safe. “Aren’t you a quiet one.” One of the warlocks said as the boys were lead outside.

“I’ve had a little too much to drink.”
Hunter stammered out shaking his head.

He didn’t get to say anything else though because before he could finish the girl had latched herself onto him, kissing him wildly. Hunter grabbed hold of the girl and pinned her against the brick wall, causing the girl to utter a squeal of delight. “It’s a shame, because we could have sooo much fun gingy.” The girl whispered. Hunter felt a prick in his neck and after a moment he felt drowsy and his body felt heavy. After a couple moments he dropped to the ground unconscious. Now it was time for the real mission to begin.

Lena had been feeling a little fidgety about the whole issue. She didn't really like waiting and was far too keen to get started. She was less upset and concerned about the problems they were facing and more....angry. Angry that these psychos kept trying to come after them. Valentina, Charlotte, Byron, and now Micheal. And The Exsanguis before that. She was starting to understand why Byron had gotten so brutal. Maybe that was the only way to stop all the scum of the earth coming after you.

She'd gotten suitably wrapped up in thoughts that she was slightly taken by surprse when Garrett appeared, shortly followed by her dad, who had clearly got wind that she was going off after something, and wanted to give her something of a pep talk. She was a little surprised that he wasn't planning to talk her out of it.

Helena had always, to some degree, felt like she wasn't really considered 'up to' missions so much as a lot of them, with the possible exception of say, Selene, though by then Selene had had plenty of time to prove her own aptitude. Helena's last extended period of time left to herself in the dark world had, on the other hand, ended pretty badly...though in that sense she felt like she didn't get a lot of credit. She'd had next to no powers, no money, no influence, and was pretty outnumbered being one person against...well more than she could actually count, so she didn't feel like that really reflected well on her ability. Still, her brother was being sent off on missions already, despite being younger than she was.

But really, at this point, what was there left for her to be protected from? She didn't really talk about any of those things, but she had a hard time imagining herself getting stuck in a worse situation than the one she'd found herself in, and the distinct advantage of being a half-breed bastard with no degree of influence whatsoever is that no-one would be likely to find her sufficiently important to imprison again.

So, in some sense she really had nothing to be afraid of, right?

"I don't think luck will come into it. I'm going to be fine, dad. I'm certain about it. Even if it doesn't look like it at any time, I'm gonna be fine."
She broke her serious demeanour for a moment to smile at her father.
"You take care though dad. Mom will flip her shit if anything happens to you. Don't worry about me. I got this. Love you. "

She couldn't exactly elaborate on her little dealings....not considering how Cyrus and Selene had reacted to the news beforehand, but she was confident enough about that, and maybe that'd make him feel better about the whole thing.

"I think this may be a sign my dad is warming to you y'know. He actually wants you to stay alive rather than threatening to shoot you if you mess up." she stated to Garrett with a wry grin as the two of them walked out.

"Least it means we get to go now...even if it does mean being second banana. Is that even a real expression? Second banana? What is it about bananas that warrant ordering? Anyway....uh... doesn't sound like it's gonna be that much to worry about. I mean, Micheal is still a freak so is probably busy obsessing over whatever is on his end to worry about what we get up to somewhere else. So we go up in there and murder a bunch of people I guess."

Neverwinter tactics at their finest, it seemed, but more deeply Helena distinctly suspected that her position in this current cosmic fuckery meant that there wasn't a whole lot they could actually do to her. Leviathan wanted her around for whatever reason, and right now, if she was collecting souls for the demon, the demon wasn't going to let her get taken out. As such, she was approaching the whole thing with a fairly blasé attitude.

"And rescue that guy."

Helena's interaction with Matt was kinda limited, though she was aware Garrett seemed to have appreciated talking stuff out with him. And you couldn't just neglect people on the basis that you didn't feel strongly about them. Right? Compassion was supposed to be a thing.

Well, unless Leviathan was to be believed, but she had to try and work on a non-demon level.

"And seriously Garrett, I wouldn't worry about anything happening to me. I think I got it covered so, y'know, don't do anything stupid to try and protect me. Got some influential friends y'know." the hybrid added.
"They are going to regret pissing us off."

(Posting in sections)

Selene couldn’t speak. It seemed like a month had come and gone and still, she couldn’t force words out. She just sat there, staring at the boy she had watched turn into a man. Aubrey. Her first time, first love, first huge mistake. The one she had loved and hurt the most. Aubrey. The face she saw when she closed her eyes.

“You have no idea how good it feels to hear you say that” Selene finally managed, pale hands hovering at her mouth. “All of that - everything - that’s exactly how I’d been feeling. I’ve always loved you Aubrey, loved you sincerely - even when that love was kind of fucked up it was always sincere.”

“But .... There’s something I have to confess” she forced herself to go on. She wanted to keep on living this fairy tale - the one where Aubrey didn’t remember all the pain Selene had caused him. But fairy tales had gotten Selene in enough trouble already. “There’s .... a lot you don’t remember.”

“I cheated on you. Not ... intentionally. Not at first. I was kidnapped - by this werewolf warlord, down in Mexico - one of the old tribes. He forced me to marry him ... Forced me to do a lot of things. But there came a point when I wasn’t a prisoner anymore - at least not in my heart. I loved my husband, I loved being queen. I never stopped loving you - not for a second - but ... it felt nice, being with Akili - my husband. What we had was .... it was simple - pure. I was his wife, he worshipped me, indulged me - and I did the same for him. There was nothing complex about it. Not like what we have.”

“But after I found out I was pregnant ... after I came back North .... Well I realized that I like complex. What we have hasn’t always been perfect, but it’s what I want. If you still want me, that is.”

Selene wanted to end it there. It had already taken so much out of her to say those words, to admit her mistakes. But no, she owed it to Aubrey to tell him everything. “There’s one other thing you should know. When we were broken up - that’s right, you should know we broke up. You didn’t know the baby was yours - so you left and you found someone else. She’s here - if you want to see her. I don’t know if you even remember her .... I just thought you deserved to know about her. I don’t know if you loved her - or if this changes anything ... I just ... I thought you should know.”

“I’ll understand if you want to take some time to reconsider ... everything” she said, staring at her belly. Inside, the babies were twitching about. “I really want you to be a part of the twins’ lives ... But I don’t want you to be with me because you feel obligated.”

She put up a hand before he could say anything. “Don’t. Don’t say anything. Just think - please. I want to be with you, yes. But it’s more important to me that you be happy. I don’t want you doing anything you regret.”

Re: The Northern Delegates: The Next Generation

*Not sure if quiet is RL stuff or just general current crapness of site or mix of both.*

That's horrible.

Though, I've known a bunch of people who have had skin cancers, and they've come through it well. At least it's been caught and is being looked into.

Still, thinking of you Alex and hoping for the best results from the tests next week.

Re: The Northern Delegates: The Next Generation

Hey everyone. We apologize for the delay in posting. We did have a busy weekend but that's not what really is delaying us. Alex says it's ok for me to tell everyone so here it goes. Alex has been diagnosed with skin cancer. It has rattled him quite a bit and he has been in and out of testing to confirm the diagnosis and to determine the extent of the cancer. Results should be in next week and then we go to what type of treatment options he has. We don't want to alarm anyone but we felt that because we have been together for so long we should share the news. We are hoping to post soon and I think it'll help take his mind off everything.

Re: The Northern Delegates: The Next Generation

Ahhh. That's all good then.

Hopefully they had a better weekend than I did the one before.

Between OOC politics and drunk guys getting far too uh.... friendly during the evening it left a lot to be desired. Didn't help that this was when I had a full head mask on and could not see for shit in the dark and had no peripheral vision. As it turned out he just wanted to pet me as I had a furry mask on, but what it quite endearing when you have a bunch of kids wanting to pet you in the daytime, is a little alarming when it's a grown guy at night in the woods. x_x

Re: The Northern Delegates: The Next Generation

Haha we're still alive over here! Just waiting on Alex and Nessa - but they went raving this weekend or something

Re: The Northern Delegates: The Next Generation

It's so quiet. D8

No posts doesn't necessarily worry me, I got other stuff to keep me amused, but man I start to get twitchy when it's this quiet on the whole.

Like something got the rest of you.

And it's just Vit.

Talking to herself in the third person.

FOREVER.

Re: The Northern Delegates: The Next Generation

Back and posted. Sorry if it's a bit terrible, still kinda getting myself back together after a kinda...challenging fest. Glad to be back, LARP had more OOC drama that I would've liked.

Re: The Northern Delegates: The Next Generation

Well I don't know what you expect Kate to post, but I posted for the mission. I know everyone was hoping I would post Arucan/Will but honestly at this point, it seemed more productive to post for the mission. I mean Arucan/Will would just be their emotional response which in my opinion, is kind of redundant. I'd rather just post their feelings on the situation while they're on the rescue mission. That way it's organic and not just a bunch of emotional rambling you know?

Re: The Northern Delegates: The Next Generation

Seems like a plan.

We don't want Alex to lose his mind, lol.

I think we can at least move the HQ plotline along.

I've got LARP this weekend, and foolishly and naively declared that I could make a warg costume for the event in two days, so may not be able to get a post n for a few days, but will get there soon as I can. =)

Re: The Northern Delegates: The Next Generation

Well Alex and I are working on a post. We were going to wait for Kate and Stella to post but we've made the decision to not wait for them to post. I have barely heard from Kate this last week and it seems as each week passes I hear from her less and less. We will move forward with what we can, and anything that's left stagnant, we'll just see what happens with it. We will most likely post tomorrow or Thursday to keep the HQ plot moving, even if just a little. Alex is going off his rocker with not posting so we have to do something lol.

Re: The Northern Delegates: The Next Generation

We're not angry or anything. I really am sorry for being so lazy, actually. I'm just not used to having to remember to post on my own. Kate usually reminds me of that sort of thing. The RP has always been like that one thing we do together, so it's really weird not having her here to write with. But yeah, I'm starting a post myself, and hopefully I'll be able to get back into the swing of things soon

Re: The Northern Delegates: The Next Generation

No offence intended! D:

I just wasn't really sure if you two had been around at all, as my only indication I have of if any of you are around are via posts on here, either in the OOC or IC.

Re: The Northern Delegates: The Next Generation

Alright, everybody calm your tits. I got this.

As you all know, I just started college. It's been amazing, but also extremely chaotic. I went to the ER twice in my first week, if that's any indication. I also have a lot of high level classes I need to take in order to maintain my spot in the Honors Program as well as my scholarship. So it's been a big adjustment.

As for Stella, she's starting her senior year, and relatively busy herself. Mostly, she's just lazy though. Usually she has me around to motivate her to post but now that I'm away I haven't been able to nag her. Not to mention we usually post together, and we're still working out how to do that long distance.

In conclusion, I'm a little offended that you guys think we would abandon this roleplay. We've put just as much work into it as all of you. I'm sorry for not keeping you guys updated, but I've been talking with Vanessa pretty regularly and I figured that would suffice.

So basically what I'm saying is that we're not going anywhere. This isn't the first time the roleplay had gone through a slump like this after all. I personally have no plans of abandoning the roleplay. It, and all of you, are very important to me. This is just a very busy time in my life right now.

I'm going to try and write something up now. Stella and I did have a post written up about a week ago - a long one too - and the whole thing got deleted thanks to the shitty internet we have here in the dorms. So that was discouraging. But I'm going to try and get back to posting regularly.

*Just don't expect it to be as frequent as it used to be (for now) I mean, there were times when I could post multiple times a day, that's just not possible right now

Re: The Northern Delegates: The Next Generation

I understand Alex, but please just be patient... I know Kate and Stella don't want to give up on us or the roleplay and I truly believe they aren't doing this on purpose. I'm sure they'll make time, and hopefully enough time to do a post a week. If it goes past 30 days without a post then we'll talk about the option of closing down and moving on.

Kate said she is going to try to post tonight so we'll see. Here's hoping... Maybe she can even wrangle Stella into doing one so we can move forward a little. Alex and I are holding off a collab because we don't want to get too far ahead from them and make it hard for them to catch up.

Re: The Northern Delegates: The Next Generation

My concern is that they won't be posting regularly. If they can't even find time to post in the OOC to tell us they would be vanishing on us, that doesn't look good for future posting. As much I don't mind slowing down, I don't want to have to wait three weeks for a post either. A post a week isn't a huge commitment.

As much as I would also hate to lose everything we have done, if they can't post regularly we will have to do something. Plus if we did another roleplay we could explain the vanishing characters in an open ended manner so if they ever freed up again, they could rejoin.

I know life gets busy, but this is not cool. A blurb in OOC wouldn't hurt... :(
