Description

Image
Name: Helena Alys Neverwinter
Age: Eighteen
Relationship: Single
Species: Hybrid. Helena has ended up with both vampire and werewolf genes. It appears to have given her some of the strengths, and weaknesses, of both species.

-Sunlight: Hel doesn't like sunlight much, but she doesn't burst into flames. She does however get sunburned and dazzled quite easily in the sun.

-Lycan Regeneration: Helena can't heal at the speed of a werewolf, and has less resilience toward damage, though her berserker status means she can still hold her own. Injury tends to hit her harder afterwards however.

-Blood: She becomes unwell if she doesn't drink blood, and needs to drink fairly frequently to remain healthy.

-Wolf Form: Having werewolf and vampire genes, Helena's wolf form is a strange, and terrifying looking thing. It is extremely strong and fast, and has incredible jaw strength, however as she lacks the werewolf regeneration that normally protects wolves during their changes, she find the changes painful and traumatic, so tries to avoid it.

Abilities:

Berserkrgang (Physical, Offensive)
Like her mother, Helena has inherited the berserker gene, and as a result can invoke berserkrgang to massively increase her strength and endurance. Her odd nature however has meant that her berserk demeanour is quite different from that of her mother. Helena takes on a disturbingly calm and focused sort of mindset during her berserk periods, and makes up for her decreased durability with an extreme skill and precision, combined with a terrifying capacity for cruelty. She is able to dispatch enemies in frightening ways, inspiring terror in other potential opponents. She also drains the blood of others freely. Helena claims to have no memory of the sort of things she does while berserk.

Mental Shift/Perception Shift (Mental, Defensive)
Helena's ability seems to allow her to perceive things and process information in a different way to everyone else. She can pick up on things that no-one else can. It doesn't seem like she can read minds, however she can tell people what they dreamed about the night before, or tell them what they're afraid of. She can tell how much change someone has in their pocket at a glance, determine personal information about others, figure out the workings of things from a picture, even gain information from books by casually flipping through the pages.

This ability mostly appears to be palour tricks, but it can be extremely useful. She can gain information that no-one else would, figure out complex problems easily, and has learned to use it to be incredibly accurate with firearms. However, Hel's 'way of seeing' has a negative impact as well. She can often get upset by things she sees, apparently able to discover disturbing information, or occasionally seeing or hearing things that are not physically real. She also has to handle a lot of information at once, which she can sometimes struggle to filter. If she over-stretches her ability, for example trying to perceive things that have yet to happen, she can get completely overloaded . Many people mistake her for being crazy as a result of the ability.

Personality: Unorthodox would be the polite way to describe Hel....weird would be the less polite way. She appears a bit peculiar. Many sat that Helena seems to live in a world of her own, and in a way that could be said to be true. Helena does not view the world like others do, and her reactions are often seen as inappropriate by those around her.

Her behaviour is often thought of as weird, though does seem to follow some sort of logic…in Helena’s mind at any rate…it just tends not to be a level of logic that anyone else has ever encountered before. She tends to be rather morbid, something which puts people off her often.

Getting past the initial strangeness of the young woman, she is a pleasant, highly intelligent individual. She appreciates the friendship of others, even if it’s not always openly visible, and is very dedicated to those that she is close to.

She tends to let her mind wander frequently, and doesn’t often commit to things, but when she does she becomes quite the force to be reckoned with, both physically and mentally. She pursues things with a dogged determination that can be both impressive and unnerving.

Unlike her mother, Helena is not too easily moved into fighting. She tends to put up with a great deal before losing her temper. That being said, when pushed too far, Hel’s temper is completely explosive, and usually results in something getting broken….hopefully something inanimate.

Helena doesn’t tend to talk about the nature of her parentage. If she ever dwells on it, she’s never told anybody. As far as she’s concerned, Grant is her dad and Kora is her mom, and that is that. She is something of a daddy’s girl, and goes to Grant for help with things quite a lot. She and Kora tend to get along well, though with two berserkers in close proximity they do tend to have their moments.

Training:
Due to her mother and father’s team associations, Helena has trained with several of the more experienced Delegates, though it was rather difficult to find an individual willing to stick with her for long periods of time due to Helena’s nature. She always appears quite inattentive and seems to be daydreaming throughout most training sessions, however she has a great capacity for taking in information…sometimes more than trainers want her to take in.

Accumulated Skill Level: (TBC)

Flaws:

Due to some injuries received at an early age, Helena has some long-term damage that can hamper her performance. She has restricted movement in her left shoulder, and has several metal pins and plates in her bones in various places. Those that know Helena can take advantage of these weak spots to incapacitate the girl quite easily.

Helena’s powers mean that she often has a hard time dealing with people, and can provoke others without meaning to. It also means she tends to be inattentive, and selective about what she retains. She can remember all sorts of detailed information, but will tend to forget people’s names or birthdays. She is rather unpredictable, and will sometimes do things that seem completely bizarre from an external perspective.

Political standing and likeability: Total: 9

Likability: 4. While Helena is not a hostile individual, she tends to put others off as she comes across as ‘weird’. Additionally, due to the circumstances of her birth and her mixed heritage, some see her as an abomination that should not exist.

Birthright: 5. While the Neverwinters lost a degree of respect down to the fiasco at the time of Helena’s birth, their age and influence worked in their favour. Thea Neverwinter took over the running of the family, and set out to try and drive some progress in the family, retaining its traditions while steering away from its more unforgiving rules. Under her leadership, the family has managed to regain its former political status.

History:
Helena was born in rather unpleasant circumstances, being part of a ploy to blackmail the Neverwinter family in order to force them into attacking the Delegates. It was intended that she would be taken and raised by vampires in order to keep the Neverwinters under control, but Kora broke both of them out of imprisonment.

Despite this traumatic opening to her life, Helena’s early life was quite pleasant. The events had led Kora to be more cautious about allowing her family to raise Helena, and as a result she was brought up mostly among the Delegates. Her dual nature was initially met with horror by the family, but as Thea began to try and reform the rules of the family, they began to gradually grow accustomed to the idea of their heir being half vampire. She made occasional visits to stay with the Neverwinters, in order to learn about their customs and lifestyle. It was during one such visit, when the was about five years of age, that an attempt was made on her life.

The Neverwinters had been holding an event with numerous other prominent werewolf families, and Kora had brought Helena along. One of the families involved however was disgusted by the concept of werewolf-vampire hybridization. After an insult was levelled at Kora regarding the nature of Helena’s birth, the Neverwinters moved to forcefully eject the family members from the place. A fight had broken up, and one of the opposing members transformed, tore the young girl from her mother’s grip, and dashed out of the building, into the woods.

The Neverwinters set out after them in force, and Kora didn’t hesitate to get some of the other Delegates on the case before setting out herself to search for her missing daughter.

They eventually managed to track down the perpetrator, and shortly after that, they managed to find Helena, who had been severely mauled by the werewolf. As a result of the attack, the hybrid girl was clinically dead for about fifteen minutes. Kora and Grant managed to get her back to HQ and over to the medical wing, though they were expecting the worst by that point, particularly because her mix nature made getting blood for transfusion very difficult. The healers managed to save her by quite a narrow margin. She was unconscious for the best part of several months after the event.
When she eventually awoke, it was clear that Helena was…different from before. Her power appeared to have been strengthened to a considerable degree, but it also seemed to have affected her own mentality. She didn’t seem to think or perceive things in the same way as others. Indeed it almost seemed like she was a bit out of sync with everyone else. It meant that she often had a hard time from there while growing up, often being written off as being mentally deficient or insane.

Despite this, she continued Delegate training. Initially, she came across as something of a hopeless case training-wise. She would daydream, she would lose interest, she seemed to be unaffected by punishment or reward. She was passed around trainers quite frequently. Suddenly however, at age eleven she began to demonstrate a level of skill that no-one anticipated. She rapidly caught up with her peers, and was no longer known as the kid nobody wanted to deal with. Her ability that had caused her to be so inattentive had been harnessed to allow her to accomplish things no normal fighter would be capable of. From that Helena began to carve a niche of sorts, in the Delegates.

So begins...
