"Water does not resist. Water flows. When you plunge your hand into it, all you feel is a caress. Water is not a solid wall, it will not stop you. But water always goes where it wants to go, and nothing in the end can stand against it. Water is patient. Dripping water wears away a stone. Remember that. Remember you are half water. If you can't go through an obstacle, go around it. Water does."

Personality
Fears:
Nate is terrified of losing Ness, and by effect, Ellie. Especially the latter. He's also really not a fan of fire, and he'd rather die than go mad like his mother.
Generally:
Nate is a sweet and caring guy; the kind of teacher who will pick up on a student feeling bad, and will take the person aside, asking what's wrong in an attempt to help. He is, however, also a very firm person, not one to let his student get away with anything. When teaching, Nate, or should I say, Mr. Hensleigh can be rather strict, though if his student behave themselves, he also likes to just sit down and talk to them. He loves to ask the student how a particular class went in their opinion, always trying to improve himself as a teacher. He often tries new teaching methods and so. For instance, in teaching of a certain battle, he might talk to the physical training teacher about re-enacting the thing with the students. Also, he's always open to any ideas from the students. He is in no way a class-room-dictator, even if he demands his students' respect.
He's very confident of himself and his abilities - you sort of have to be if you want to be a good teacher. He's pretty much always smiling and will always give praise to anyone who deserves it. He's a pretty humorous guy and he often attempts to make his students laugh with him, because he feels it lightens up the classroom, as he knows some of them find history boring and would like to change that. He wants every lesson to be a good experience to both himself and his students. He's pretty good at reading people at a first glance, though others can very rarely read him. Mostly because he doesn't show it if he's upset. He puts it in the back of his mind and plasters on a smile.
A big flaw Nate has, as everyone has their downsides, is his extreme liking towards women... and lots of them. Before Ness, he had never been in love, and he still enjoys the company of women; he loves talking to them, charming them. He loves the game of seduction, and being in a relationships is oftentimes very challenging as it means he has to be monogamous. He tries though, and since Noelle's birth it's become easier. He's a highly devoted father and makes a great effort of not ruining what he's got going now. However, Nate is an exceptionally weak man when it comes to women, and as much as he hates it, he's tempted way too easily, and he has huge troubles resisting. As an effect, he tries to keep most women at a distance, avoiding said temptation to begin with.
Similarites to Godly Parent: Well, there's his little problem regarding women. He certainly inherited that from his father. He's completely opposite when it comes to temper, though; Nate doesn't get angry. Or, at least it's very rare and quite subtle.
History
Nathan, being a son of Poseidon, always had an almost uncanny fascination with water, along with an unnatural talent for swimming. This made him a children's Olympics swimmer at a very young age. He wasn't told of his father, and didn't really ask either, until he was 11 years old, at which point his mother finally, and with an extreme amount of stuttering, told him that he was a son of Poseidon after said god had come to inform her of the academy. Nate who wasn't very keen on having to leave his human life behind, put up a fight about going - mostly because he didn't really believe her. He thought it was just one of her ramblings, as she had never been quite right in the head. Regardless, Nate ended up at the academy, as his parents wanted, in which he finished his education until high school. After this, he left the protected grounds to seek out more extensive educational possibilities. This led him to study history in college.
Nathan grew to love the academy, along with accepting himself and his heritage - it helped a bit after he created his first wave. After finishing his studies in 'the real world', Nate fluttered about for a while before returning to the academy, three years after the death of his mother, deciding that he wanted to help educate the next generation of demigods like himself. Also, who wants to teach at a normal, human school, when the academy is so much more entertaining? He was only there for about a couple of months, however, before he left with a student, Vanessa Tate, who he had previously been with. The two had met again at the Academy and sparks had flown. After many complications, including Nate having troubles being tied down, while having feelings for the girl's best friend, Juliette Halliwell, the pair ran off.
Vanessa and Nate have been together for the past three years, living in a small apartment while Ness studied. Nate got himself a regular job at your average high school. It wasn't amazing, but the were together and Nate managed to remain faithful. Until Vanessa got pregnant. True, they decided to keep the baby, but one Ness' stomach began getting in the way, Ness constantly nagging at him, Nate found other places and woman to soothe his urges - not that he's ever admitted that to Ness. Once their daughter was born, he turned around completely, spellbound by the beautiful bundle of small limbs and blue eyes. Nate's main concern changed from himself to the little girl and it's been that way ever since.
Now Noelle (Ellie - 1 2 3 4), their daughter, is about a year old, and the pair is officially back at the Academy, bringing the girl with them.[/font]
