Desirable: Birdie knows exactly how to push people's buttons in the right way and is very sensual. She isn't proud to say that she learned her seduction techniques from watching her mother but it gave her the ability to sway people with her sexuality (especially males). Besides, she likes sex, so she doesn't feel any guilt in using her body to get things (she'd never ever do prostitution or actual sex for a simple favor, unless it's very important).
Extroverted: Birdie is very social and extroverted. She likes joking around and generally being positive, so it's easy to get along with her and she talks to almost anyone.
Skilled mechanic: Although Birdie hadn't been working in the mecha station her whole life while she was on the Ark, she found fixing things and tinkering with objects was a passion of hers and she loved doing it, so she quickly learned how to be functional. Birdie's been learning since she was ten and has been fixing things for people on the Ark since she was twelve, showing her apparent skill. It's useful to have her around to fix things.

Romance: As soon as Birdie starts feeling any romantic feelings toward anyone, she always starts getting nervous around them and starts feeling suffocated at the thought of staying with someone forever and starts ignoring them. Because of this, she's lost potential long term relationships and hurt others before because of this fear.
Poor sight: Birdie had glasses on the Ark, but they got knocked off when the guards were getting rough with her on the way to the drop ship and is now without her glasses. She's far from blind or anything too serious, but will have a harder time on the ground because of her poor vision (more likely to trip, can't see machinery as well, etc.)
Holds back her sad feelings: Her whole life, Birdie was taught by her mother that her feelings and emotions aren't important unless they benefited Estelle in some way, so it's become kind of like instinct for Birdie to hide any feeling of fear or sadness behind a mask and act tough in front of everyone. As a result, she has less personal friendships and pains her mentally and emotionally.

Anyone who knows Birdie or has eyes knows that she likes to keep up a good appearance. Whether is be her choice of clothing, hair, makeup or accessories, Birdie simply likes looking good. However, it's also not necessarily a concern of hers on the ground to look her best at every given moment. On the ground, she wears pretty simple and efficient clothes. Birdie wears dark green skinny jeans that rise a little higher than most pants (they reach below her bellybutton), a loose, long-sleeved, light gray low rise shirt that rests just above her belly button, dark brown combat boots and a blue worn out jean jacket on top, only buttoning it up when it gets chilly outside. When she sleeps, she just takes off her bra, shoes and tight pants and she's comfortable. She normally switches her hairstyle around every day but prefers more efficient styles to keep her hair from going in her face, especially while working with machines and other things that require attention. In fear of getting involved in a serious accident while working, Birdie refrains from wearing much jewelry while on the ground and instead settles with multiple rings on her fingers (not every single finger has a ring), has black studs in her ear lobes and a typical silver bellybutton piercing. To accessorize, she wears a black fuzzy scarf (only when it gets chilly) and a warm black beanie (also when it gets cold). Birdie hates being cold.

Birdie has a scar down from her elbow fold to her wrist from being attacked by her mother with a knife at ten. To many, this scar looks like a suicide attempt so she tries to hide it with either makeup or long sleeves. She has a medium sized birth mark on her left lower hip.

Birdie has a small knife strapped to her right outer thigh and an even smaller one under her jean jacket on her left shoulder. When walking around the woods, she has a bag with water, first aid kit, toilet paper and some tools. Depending on if she'll be camping out all night, she packs more than that and includes some food, a blanket, soap, toothbrush and toothpaste.

It's fair to say that Birdie did not have the easiest life growing up and the main cause of her pain was because of her mother. Birdie's mother got pregnant at thirteen with a twenty-three year old and managed to somehow hide her pregnancy from her mother for all that time. Birdie's mom, Estelle, always went out of her way to rebel against the Ark ever since they floated her father when she was only three years old. Birdie's grandma told Estelle not to hate the Ark for it and to respect what they did, but Estelle being a schizophrenic, depressed child, didn't listen to her mother at all and instead listened to her voices. So, she seduced an older man and ultimately, her illegal pregnancy resulted in the death of Birdie's father. However, Donald Pim was in the wrong for letting himself be swayed by a thirteen year old.
After much begging and pleading from Anong (Birdie's grandma) to the council, they let Birdie live with Estelle and Anong but said that Estelle had to move out at eighteen otherwise Anong would be floated for letting this mess occur. So, since Estelle refused to work for the Ark (even if it put her child and mother in danger), Anong had to take a job besides being a doctor as a janitor. Anong worked almost all the time and therefore, couldn't take care of Birdie since Estelle wouldn't. Estelle was almost always out buying drugs and alcohol from her mother's hard earned money. Birdie grew up watching her mother's rebellious behavior and as a result, wound up being rebellious herself (not to the extent of her mother).
As soon as Birdie could walk, her mother was using her innocence as a way to smuggle things for her and Birdie would willingly do it too, because at least mom was giving her attention. This gave Estelle a reason to finally get closer to her daughter and Estelle started giving her child more of her time. Before they knew it, Estelle had turned eighteen and it was time to move out with her child. Anong gave her daughter enough money to survive but surprise, surprise, the money was all blown within the first six months on drugs, alcohol, partying and none of it went towards Birdie. As a result, Birdie had to go to her grandmother's house for decent food and affection. If not for Anong, Birdie would've died.
Some nights, Birdie's mom would come home with men and other nights she'd come home high, drunk and angry and would beat her daughter. As the years went on, Birdie no longer craved her mother's attention as much as she had before and started to hate the woman and talk back to her constantly, resulting in more beatings. When Birdie was ten, her mother came home one night worse than Birdie had ever seen her before. She sat Estelle down on their shared bed and got her water. Estelle screamed at her daughter about how she hated her and threw the glass at her, but Birdie thankfully dodged it. Estelle chased her to the kitchen and grabbed a large knife and continued chasing her daughter with it. If not for Birdie's bloodcurdling screams, she probably would've died that night. However, a guard came just in time to see Birdie get sliced all the way down her forearm by her mother.
After that event, Estelle was put in the psych area of the Sky Box for rehabilitation and obvious mental illness while Birdie was adopted by an infertile couple and raised very strictly. While Birdie hated the sudden lack of freedom she had and how her "parents" wouldn't let her see her grandmother, she appreciated the shelter and the fact that Katarina (adoptive mother) showed her how to be a functional mechanic. Her adoptive father, Harvard, was a member of the council so they lived in a bigger space than her grandmother lived. As Birdie got older, she got more and more rebellious and would not listen to her adoptive parents, which just put more restriction on her. At sixteen, Birdie stole a bunch of rationing cards for her grandmother and got caught and thrown in the Sky Box. The teenager was ashamed and felt as if she turned out just like the woman she hated the most in her life: Her mom.
