The Outpost

The Outpost

0 INK

Survive the oncomings zombies by building defences around your campsite and trading with other outposts.

1,296 readers have visited The Outpost since Wright Arcdeo created it.

Introduction

The zombie apocalypse happened. No one knows quite how it started, but it managed to wipe most of humanity out. The little pockets of people still left either are on always on the move, running away from the undead, or living in fortified outposts.

You are in a small group of survivors who have decided to set up camp in a defensible position. You have limited supplies, so after exhausting the nearby natural resources, you can trade with other outposts. Zombies attack every day. Their number will grow exponentially. Every (in-role play) day, you can choose what to do and, after either everybody else's done so or a week has passed, I will give a report of the day.

Character sheet must include:
Name:
Age:
Personality:
Background:
Equipment and personal supplies:
Skills:
Weaknesses:

You may also assign ten points in the following categories:
Strength (for construction and fighting):
Speed and agility (for evading zombies and scavenging):
Charisma (for trading):

For each construction (walls, towers, moats, workshops, etc.,) I will state the number of resources and points needed to finish it. Each day, the number of points put towards the construction will be the sum of all strength points. Resources are consumed once at the start of the construction. For fighting, it means the tuber of zombies you can kill without a weapon before you get overwhelmed. After getting overwhelmed, any extra zombies take 1 HP away, of which you have ten. When you run out of HP, you die (you may try again with another character). For example, if you have strength 4 and you're fighting six zombies, you can defeat all of them but you only have 8 HP left. HP regenerate with 2 per (in game) week. If two people are fighting zombies, their strengths stack. If they get overwhelmed, then the HP taken away is divided equally between them. If the numbers aren't whole, they get rounded up.

For evading zombies, you have a certain chance of successfully doing so depending on your speed. If you have 1 speed, you have 1/11 chance, if you have 2 speed, you have 2/11 chance and so on and so forth. The highest chance you can haver is 10/11, since there's always a chance that they will spot you. For a successful scavenge, the chances work the same way. When scavenging you can either find resources, food, or weapons (witch can increase strength).

For trading, I will give you a set deal and you can make it better for you depending on your charisma.

Each defence and room you come up with and build has a certain attribute. After going me a description of the defence, I will decide the number of DP (defence points) it gives you. After describing a room, I will decide its function (upgrading weapons, improving speed and agility, making resources). Each night, a number of zombies will attack. If the number is bigger than the number of DP you have, you will all have to fight against the remaining zombies. If you all die in the attack, the RP has ended. Each day, each person will consume three food. If there is less than three food left, they will eat finish the food supplies. Once out of food, each day (including the one where there first was no food) will result in one HP being taken away from everyone. The weapon/equipment you start out with does not add to your attributes (it is assumed that you have those attributes because of both your character and your equipment). They simply for in-universe value.

Toggle Rules

1) Write at least paragraph (or four lines).
2) Check grammar and spelling. One or two mistakes aren't a big deal, but any more then that is a problem.
3) There should be no god-modding.
4) This is not a storage. If you make a character, you should post within a week at the latest.

The group arrives at a slightly elevated position, next to a small forest and a flowing river. The leader tells us that it is now or never; that we must make a stand. He order everyone to begin setting up camp. He also says that some people should start to go out and scavenge while others should work on setting up defences should any zombies attack at night. One can already see a small number of the undead in the distance, slowly approaching from the North.

The leader summoned the group at the campfire, and told Luke that the group needed supplies. He went to the nearby forest, and started to work on the smaller trees dotting its outline. Meanwhile, Peter decided to survey the surrounding lands for other small settlements. He began following the course of the river in a small raft. He could see quite far away using his binoculars, and spotted another outpost. He approached it, happy to see another group, but also wary of their intentions.
