Description

~Name: Amp and Blast

~Age: He was taken to the Lab at five years old. He had no way to keep time, but if he did he would be about 17.

~Gender: Male

~Mutation:

Sound- Amp was originally born with a small ability to control the sounds around him, and turn his voice into an almost tangible object. Throughout his time at The Lab, and all their torturous tests, he was improved his abilities greatly. He is able to turn mere sound into an unseen tangible object, or weapon of his choosing. He can manipulate the sound to do his bidding, be it unlocking a door, building a shield around himself, or making a weapon to kill someone.

Hearing- While at The Lab the scientists preformed multiple tests and experiments. His range of hearing is better than most animals, he can hear everything that is going on in a building; from footsteps to voices to the tiniest echoes, and he can hear them all. With concentration he can extend his hearing abilities to hear farther than just inside the building. He can hear across long distances. Due to a recent experiment, one containing a metal chair and lots of electricity, his mind was pushed farther and his hearing even more greatly improved. He is now able to hear inside the minds of the people around him, and talk back with them if he so wishes to do so.

~Weaknesses:

Amp’s main weakness his that he is scared. He had been in The Lab for most of his life and it’s all he remembers, he is naturally scared and timid. He won’t readily use his abilities because he has been beaten so many times for using sound when the scientists or guards didn’t want him to.
His other weakness is Blast. It may not seem like it but Blast is a weakness to Amp and vice versa. Blast is more hard headed and gets himself into trouble a lot. He is the alter ego of Amp and rushes into things too fast for his own good. All together, having a split personality in general is a weakness to both personalities.
While using his sound both Blast and Amp get tired easily. This is also due to the fact that they have been held in captivity for most of their lives. It takes a lot of concentration to get sound to do what they want it to and they don’t always get it right. Trying to control something that is always moving on its own, is really hard in their current state and it will take time for them to be able to extend their power.

~Description:
Image
He has a mess of unruly shaggy hair at the top of his head. Most of the dark black locks hang down in front of his eyes. He hasn’t cared much to attempt to tame the hair, there was need for it and so he never cared. It will stand in odd directions or plaster itself to his face. Despite never once putting a brush through it, his hair looks nice the way it is. Some people need their hair put up a certain way in order for it to look like they don’t have a rats nest on their head. Amp on the other hand, looks as if his hair is perfectly messy to the point to where it looks nice. It may be messy but it fits him and he isn’t likely to change it now.

His eyes are a bright, almost electric blue. Depending on whether Blast or Amp is in control, his eyes will be a different shade of blue. When Amp is controlling the actions, his eyes are almost a light pale blue. This is from his nicer and more timid personality. His eyes aren’t threatening, they are more open and let people knew of his emotions. His eyes range in the pale blues, from a bright sky blue while he’s happy to a light grey blue while he is sad. People say that the eyes are the window to the soul, this is true for Amp, his eyes show his emotions and so, part of his soul. On the other hand, when Blast is the one in charge, his eyes are a deep blue like depths of the ocean on a clear day. His eyes are more guarded and reserved. His eyes don’t have much of a range in colors but at most, his eyes will turn darker to almost black while he is angry. His isn’t one to have much happiness as neither Amp nor Blast has had any kind of happiness in their lives. If he was to get some sort of glee, it would be from one of the guards or scientists finally getting what they deserve, in this case his eyes would be an almost clear ocean blue instead of the deep dark blue.

He is build is small, at the moment anyway. Due his time in captivity, from all the beatings, tests, experiments, and malnourishment, he is almost a living skeleton, as most of the other experiments are. He isn’t very strong because he was never given much chance to improve his strength. At most he can flee for his life, but in his current state, he has almost no muscle and would not be much use in a fight. Most of his energy to get through the tests the scientists put him through, came from adrenaline and the will to stay alive. Even though that will was almost nearly broken several times during his imprisonment. Because it did break once, Blast is more able to carry on than Amp is. Blast seems to find energy from nowhere and seems to have more physical strength than Amp does. They have yet to figure out that sound is a type of energy and that they can access it.

He has many scars that crisscross around his body, each of them having their own type of cut. There are the scares from straight knives cutting across his skin. There are the jagged scars from all the torturous instruments from the cells down below used to cause just pain without much damage. There are also the various scars from his multiple times for being in The Games. Ranging from claws to teeth to spikes and weapons, each opponent was different and each one left its mark on him before they were killed by another or by his own hands. Each one he killed he remembers, it’s hard to forget their faces when you know who each scar came from. From being inside and rarely seeing the sun, his skin is a lot paler than it should be. This helps with the scars somewhat, the pale helps to hide the small ones that trace across his body. But the large and deep set scars are hard to hide and are only faded by his fair complexion.

Over everything he normally wears baggy clothes that hang off of his small frame. The large plain T-shirts drape over his torso and help to not make him look as skinny as he, in reality, truly is. To match the baggy shirt, he normally has on baggy jeans that he has to pull up every once in awhile to keep them from falling off of his nonexistent hips. In the Lab there was no reason to wear shoes since they were always inside and the floors were tiled and cleaned regularly; at least in the hallways they were. The only other article of clothing that he obtained was a white bandana that he has wrapped around his head. Amp will usually wear it low and over his ears to block some of the sounds from hearting his ears, letting his unruly hair hang in his eyes. Blast will usually push it higher up on his forehead, to hold back his hair and so he can see more clearly the things around him.

~Personality:
Because of the issue with two personalities, Amp and Blast are two different people though they are in the same body, have the same abilities and now know everything the other knows. Sometimes it is hard for them to get along because of their contrasting view points and constantly different ideas on how to approach a problem. When this happens, which it does, they will argue with each other and sometimes fight for control. When this happens, it looks as if they might be mad in the insane and crazy sense. They will fight for control and therefore both be speaking through the body, either at the same time or arguing where it looks as if he is yelling at the wall, and having a conversation with himself. But when the issues aren’t too bad, they will talk with each other inside their minds.

Amp is basically the more timid and scared half of his personality. He was the first and original person to be brought into the Lab. He had long since forgotten his real name and was dubbed, Amp by the guards because at most, he could amplify the sounds around him. He won’t rush into anything that is put up in front of him. He will wait, watch, and learn in order to find the best way to get around the problem and hopefully avoid it all together. He is also the more isolated of the two. It takes time to get Amp to trust you and he will rarely speak openly to others he doesn’t’ know or finds as a threat. Based on his size and fighting abilities, he finds many people a threat.

Blast is almost the exact opposite of Amp. He was created to be that way. After some very brutal beatings and having his will to live broken, Amp was ready to die right then and there. Fortunately, he fell unconscious but his alter ego popped up. His eyes grew dark and his whole body seemed to change. He looked meaner and tougher, and he got mad. Which Amp had never done before, anger was beaten out of him, so Blast was created to be his anger for him. Blast knew what he was there for and tried protecting Amp as much as he could, while Amp thought he was only blacking out and having time lapses. Unfortunately, Blast goes towards things head on and tends to get himself into trouble a lot with his snide comments and constant teasing of those who would beat him up. He is mean to those he doesn’t like and will do what he can to make sure that others don’t like them as well.
Image
Besides having their personalities on exact opposites, they do share a few common, ideals. They will both help to protect those they have befriended and they won’t normally leave anyone behind. Although their reasons on such actions are different and the outcome may seem as if one cares and the other does not, it’s just that their perception of what is more important at the moment is different. They will also help others in any way they can. But deciding who to help and how much care to give them is another matter for them to squabble about.

Amp is the kind of person that would go back help a person almost no matter the consequences or the circumstances. He doesn’t like people being left behind for any reason or being hurt for no reason. He will do what he can to make sure the person gets safe and out of harm’s way. This doesn’t necessarily mean that he will trust the person, he won’t, at least not until it has been proven to him that this person is trustworthy. But he will make sure that no person is harmed too badly if he can help it.

Blast on the other hand has some standards that dictate whether or not he will go help someone. He will judge whether the person is worth helping, he thinks about what the person could have done to get in their situation and if the whole thing was avoidable. Like if someone is trapped in a burning building, he would think if the person was able to get out before the flames reached them, or if it was nearly impossible for them to do so. He wants to make sure that people take responsibility for their actions. This makes him seem a little cruel at times but in reality he just thinks that the person could have prevented their situation and therefore he doesn’t need to help them.

~Fears:
Having been in The Lab for most of his life, Amp has many fears and phobias. He is constantly scared that someone will come and beat on him. From his size, almost everyone is larger than he is, he will flinch away from people coming towards him, and if they make any movement that he sees could contain any form of hate or malice, and he will cower and try getting away. It has become almost instinct to protect himself from any possible threat towards him.

Trypanophobia, or the fear of needles. Many of the mutants and subjects from the Lab have this fear. It’s from the many times they have been shot at with tranquilizers and needles jammed into their arms for the experiments and testing. At the site of needles he will either, freeze and stand stock still if he is Amp, or if he is Blast, he will immediately try and get himself out of the room or far away as he can. If faced with the situation that the needle is near them and the intent if for them to get a shot, no matter the kind, they will both try as much as they can to both get the person with the needle away and find a way to shatter the needle.

Agoraphobia, the fear of open spaces. From being raised inside a six foot by six foot room his whole life, Amp and Blast both find the outside world very strange. There is so much to look at and so many new things that they don’t know what it is. At least in the Lab they knew what things were and what to expect. On the outside, they are lost and there is just so much to take in that being in a huge open space is almost as bad as being in a small room.

Even though they have a fear of the large open spaces they don’t like being in too small spaces either. This is from being in the bottom cells in the basements of the Lab for the subjects that “miss behaved.” Claustrophobia stems from this, being the fear of small spaces. They don’t like the small places because they don’t want to be reminded of what went on in the cells.

Merinthophobia or the fear known as the fear of being restrained. This arose from the scientists many tests and experiments. They were strapped, cuffed, and shackled to whatever the scientists or guards decided to use; a wall, a chair, the table, sometimes even the floor. They would be forced to be still and go through whatever tortures an experiments the scientists and concocted for them that day. If they see restraints the memories will come to the front of their mind and force them to start shaking almost uncontrollably. Amp would mostly have control in these times, he will do what he can to stay away from any type of restraints, and there are too many bad memories that go with them. Neither he nor Blast can stand the site of them for too long without their mind shutting down or falling unconscious.

Another fear they have is white coat hypertension. This is basically the fear of white coats, this is because all the scientists wear one and being around them for so much of your life, the white coat to most mutants is the symbol of a scientist and many will flee from a person wearing one. This will set off all the others fears since this is the main fear were the others can be brought up to. This main fear will bring back the memories involving all the other fears and this can seriously break a person mentally. Amp and Blast, if either were to see a white coat they would most likely either kill the person or run straight for the nearest exit. If they were forced to be in the presence of a person in a white coat, even if it was to help them, it would get them lost in memories and would be hard to get their minds back to the reality in front of them.

He has a small case of Necrophobia arose from all those he has killed in The Games. Most have become numb to the task of killing a living being, but that would happen to anyone if they were regularly forced to do so in order to save their own life and to the entertainment of others. Even though they feel no compassion to the act of killing, they do feel remorse for it and are constantly reminded of what they have done and are fearful of the dead. Seeing someone die is fine with them, many have died in front of their faces and the only part they fear is seeing the dead and having the faces stuck in their mind every day after.

Amp and Blast also have terrible night terrors. Several mutants, who have not been able to disassociate themselves from the situation around them, have terrible constant nightmares while they sleep. There are the terrible ones that include all the various tortures and some of the more gruesome killings and activities in The Games. With the bad nightmares he will wake up screaming bloody murder and his whole body shaking. On those nights he won’t let a single person touch him and will most likely create a large barrier around himself with the scream. The normal nightmares of a few experiments and beatings will just cause him a restless sleep and he will most likely wake up looking more tired than he was before.

~History:
Amp was not born in the Lab. He was born in the outside with normal parents. He had shown at an early age that he had a gift for sound. His new born baby screams would shatter glass and break the windows in the house. As he got older, his abilities became harder to handle, he would cause people to get hurt. Some people say that simple words can be daggers to a person’s heart. Amp had been able to physically turn his spoken words into daggers and weapons. He was taken from his home at the age of five and was taken to the Lab to be studied and experimented on. While at the Lab, the days seemed to either blur together or last for years on end. Only a few major things had happened to him while he was at the Lab. One was after a few tests that improved his hearing, unfortunately after a few more, his hearing was improved too much and he almost went mad with the simple sounds of someone talking to him gently. The major event of his life was when Blast came about, it was a brutal beating and he had fallen unconscious, so he thought. Blast had actually taken over and stood up for Amp, he became his unseen protector. But because of his more forthright attitude, he was taken more often to the cells for “miss behaving.” The next event was a recent experiment done on Blast. He was cuffed to a metal chair, in a sound proof room. The electric cords connected were turned on and the dial was put on high. This shattered the mental block that was between Amp and Blast, and also allowed them to focus their energy and use it to listen to others people’s thoughts.

So begins...

”Out?.....now?...Told you needed to calm down....I know...but get out now...?"
Dusk heard his confusing conversation, and stared into his blue eyes. One was slightly darker than the other, and Dusk realised that they were talking to each other.
"Yes. Now." Dusk said firmly, shuddering slightly as the thought of what the stranger in the forest might do to Amp if she didn't get him out of here. Suddenly his head dropped forward, resting against his shoulder. She let out a small cry as he leant against her bad side, but he was completely out.
"Amp?" she asked softly, worrying changing the pitch slightly. No. He couldn't black out now. Not here. She tried to move him, but in her current state only managed to hurt herself more without moving an inch. Her back leant against one of the hospital beds, and she learnt her head against one.
"Oh Amp not now" she whispered, wrapping her arms around his limp form. He was so thin and weak, she needed to get him out of here. She had spent too much time with the boy earlier which she couldn't afford. She had no idea what time the stranger might come for them, however he didn't seem to give the impression of dawdling. She needed to find the others and warn them, but she seriously did not want to leave Amp with these people. If he woke and she was gone, he might freak out.
She shifted slightly, wincing as the pain, before settling back down. Whatever happened she would stay with Amp. It concerned her however that Nudge, Faith, Ash and Matt would also be here, and unwarned. She was about to press the call button, when something stopped her. It was the pounding of an army helicopter overhead. Her blood froze.

Amp/Blast slid off her onto the floor with a small sigh. One of their weak hands clutching at her skirt, she was about to move when a voice interrupted her.
”Looks like he had a fit. Scared of needles isn’t he?...I can both of you out of here. Without getting any of the doctors attention. That’s what you need isn’t it?”
Dusk started before looking up. The man blocked the door, instantly sending a small wave of panic. She forced herself to calm down, before weakening her barrier to block emotions. After the stranger in the forest, she wasn't going to take the risk. As soon as she relaxed it, the satisfaction of the man's emotions confirmed her suspicions he was planning to get them out of the hospital, but not where she wanted to go. Automatically she found herself tensing up, but she forced herself to give the pretence of being calm. In her current state there was no possibility of escaping, and causing a fuss would end up in more injuries. There was really no hope of her getting away from him, but maybe Amp?
"It's only me that needs to get out…He's my brother from the past, before I was changed" she forced herself to give off the impression that she was recounting the past, and trying to be cryptic, while still giving the idea that Amp was normal, while herself was different. "He needs to stay, he got injured and they aren't looking for him."
She added the last bit to ensure he would understand what she wanted him to. Hopefully he wouldn't pick up on her lie. The problem now was that she couldn't resist, as that would give away the fact that she knew. Her heart was beating way too fast for her liking, and she was struggling to keep her claws in. She slowly stood, taking in a sharp breath as her side flared, before gently removing Amp's hand from her skirt. She wanted to talk to him before she left, however with the stranger in the room, she dared not. She couldn't lift him, so she arranged him carefully on the floor, hoping the nurses would find him and help him back onto the bed. She kissed him gently on the forehead before moving over to the stranger, it was all she could do to keep herself from running. She kept her hands hidden in the remaining folds of her skirt to hide her blood stained hands and the claws which were continuously sheathing and unsheathing.
"We can go now" she said attempting to keep her voice level and calm, though if one was attuned to her voice you could hear the strain.

"It's only me that needs to get out…He's my brother from the past, before I was changed…He needs to stay, he got injured and they aren't looking for him." He held in a laugh, the girl was obviously trying to save the boy. She was letting herself be captured and was going to leave her brother here? He could tell by her answer that she knew and trying to show that this brother of hers knew nothing. But if he were normal, there wouldn’t be the mess in the room, he wouldn’t look just skin and bones, and she would be would be terrified, cowering like mutants normally did.

"We can go now" She had arranged the boy on the floor where he lay and stood, walking over to him. Her hands were clutching at her skirts and she was obviously trying to hide pain. He could see it in her eyes that she was holding back the pain, he had seen that look on countless faces and knew whenever someone was in pain. He nodded with a smile, grabbing her arm, holding it tight but to others he was merely escorting her out of the room. He led her down the halls. ”You know your little speech meant nothing. Someone is collecting him now also. Even if he isn’t changed, all witnesses are taken care of. He spoke in a low voice, quiet enough so only the girl he held firmly would here. He smirked and nodded to one of his guards he passed in the hallway, tilting his head in the direction of Amp’s room.

Dusk felt the man gab her slender wrist in an iron grip before leading her down the hallway. It was all she could do not to attempt to jerk it out of his hold. Not that she would be able get it out anyway, he held it so tight. She swallowed the pain and continued down the hall, that was until he whispered in her ear.
”You know your little speech meant nothing. Someone is collecting him now also. Even if he isn’t changed, all witnesses are taken care of.”
Dusk stiffened at his words, her face paling further. If it wasn't going to help Amp, she was going to put up a fight. She wasn't some lamb ready to be slaughtered, she was going to give him trouble even if she couldn't avoid getting hauled back to the lab. She immediately dug her heels into the ground in an attempt to stop herself moving, it didn't do much beside cause him to have to try harder to drag her, which just looking at his size wasn't much of a hindrance at all. She was starting to panic now, she still didn't have much clue of what happened in the lab due to her only being there for around a few days, however from the look of Amp, Dusk didn't want to find out. Finding herself dragged way too close to the door of the hospital for her liking, Dusk made a quick decision. Her left hand was still held in the man's iron grip, however she had her right free. Hitting him wasn't an option, she didn't have the strength. It hurt her side just trying to resist, so she wasn't so big on the idea of using her arm to strike him. Instead, she grabbed his shoulder with her right hand before releasing her sharp claws into his flesh. Without hesitation she dragged her claws all the way down his arm, five thin lines of blood showed their face as her five small daggers delivered the damage.
She could feel his pain sweep through her barrier and she let out a small cry, just resisting the urge to hold her arm, even though it was not her own that was hurt. What was the use of her claws, if she couldn't even use them without hurting herself? Her only consolation was that her barrier blocked a majority of the pain, while the stranger that held her would have none of that relief, thin though it was.

Commanding Guard

He barely gave the girl a glance as he half dragged her outside. "Just let me go" The naive girl tried struggling against him. He laughed as she let out a scream. By her movements he could tell her side was wounded. "Please" He smirked at the whimpered plea. ”You’re not going anywhere. You’re our property now, I can’t just let you go.” He walked over to the guards that had stayed outside the hospital, making sure no one found the hounds by accident.

He bound the girl’s hands, and handed her over to the guard. ”She’s wounded, but still resistant. Sedate her if you have to.” He gave a ruthless smile to her and turned to head back into the hospital, while the guard that now held her, held her bonds firmly, making sure she wasn’t about to get away easily.

Amp/Blast

They felt Dusk’s skirt leave their grasp and let out a small whine in response. They were being left alone again. They didn’t want to be alone, especially since they were almost unconscious. They heard voices, a man’s voice as Dusk was taken away, then more as people seemed to be arguing. He instinctively flinched, when people argued, someone got hurt, and it was more likely going to be him. Then he heard others coming into his room and he forced his eyes open. There was a man there, who seemed to be fending off another. He was confused as this other was first a woman, then a man. Whoever it was, they had red eyes and he instinctively coiled up. He pulled back against the wall in him normal, feeble attempt to get away from the man.

They were scared, plain and simple. The men were fighting each other, both were wounded and neither Amp nor Blast wanted to know who was going to be the winner of this little battle. He flinched as the red haired man was hit and went down. The one, who had won, stalked towards him. Amp and Blast both pulled farther into the corner they had lodged themselves into, but the man still picked them up without difficulty. Both of them were slightly confused as they saw the winner shift and then he looked like the red haired one. Amp was panicking, trying to kick or hit the man, and possibly wiggle out o the man’s grip. But their muscles were weak and he was still tired. Blast knew that through brute strength they weren’t going to win. He screamed, the sound ringing in the man’s ears, and he hoped it would cause the man to at least loosen his grip so they could pull themselves free.

He walked back inside the hospital and it seemed all hell was breaking loose. There seemed to be gun shots from somewhere in the building, there were screams filling the hallways, and it seemed that Caine was using a devise on one of the mutants. He frowned; he knew he wasn’t going to get as many as he wanted. He would have to go raid the Institution and get them back. He paused as he saw what seemed to be a shadow moving along the wall, trying to avoid the people. He smiled, he knew what shadow travel looked like, very few could notice the small shifts in the shadows but he had spent enough time around the type to notice the ability. He watched the shadow move, he could vaguely make out two forms inside, and he smiled. He paused where he was, watching the direction of the shadow then fallowed it.

Blast’s screams didn’t seem to have any effect on the man carrying them. They were tossed roughly into a van and they winced, landing hard on their side. Amp noticed that Ash was there, she was trembling and it looked as if she were in pain. Amp wondered what had happened to her, he figured she was one of the stronger ones and was least likely to end up hurt. Blast was still angry at the man who tossed them but by the look in the man’s deep red eyes, he didn’t want to mess with him. Neither of them didn’t know what to do, they didn’t know if they should go near Ash, last time she was scared she was screaming loudly. And they couldn’t escape; the scary man with the red eyes was standing next to the doors. In the end they gave up, they were too tired, too hungry, too hurt, too everything to try and do anything. They were caught again, and all that they expected was more pain, tests, experiments, it made their head spin and brought out a whimper from their lips. They curled up in the corner of the van, as small as they could make themselves, in an attempt to block themselves out from anything that was to come.

Neither of them knew officially what was going on, but were glad that they weren’t noticed. They were basically hiding between the bench and Ash’s cage, almost out of site of prying eyes. They weren’t too sure what was going to happen next and they flinched when the van started and they drove off. It was strange listening to the sounds outside because it all sounded blurred and mushed, there were no definite sounds. Amp closed his eyes and let Blast be in front, he didn’t want to try and be in control anymore. He curled up in the back of their mind and stayed there, just listening, and from where he was he could listen in on the minds around him.

He was still slightly perplexed about this because all he could ever hear before was the voices, now mind, and that was much more interesting. He felt around, two he instantly flinched away from, their minds were harsh, mean, and had a deep cruel sound to them. He felt around Matt’s and pulled away from his, it was also a bit violent but slightly different. He stopped on Ash, she was as scared as he was, he felt safe around her mind. Scared….be ok? Where we going….? He pushed the thoughts towards her, not knowing if she could hear them or not, though he wished she could.

Blast kept in front, watching out for what was going to happen to them next, he didn’t particularly like the idea of going back to the place that they had just gotten away from. Especially since they had seen some of what was out there, everything was so colorful and soft. Soft wasn’t something one normally got in the Lab, so out here is was like gold. He glanced around the van, there wasn’t too much interesting about it, besides the cage Ash was in and the strangely cold seat Matt was in. He glanced at the man he had dubbed as ‘Evil Eyes’ and listened to the conversation with the other. He hadn’t figured out a name for him yet but just watched and listened, he would figure one out soon enough.

Amp was slightly worried that Ash hadn’t heard him, but his spirits rose as he felt her response to him. Safe-man follows. Quiet, Evil Eyes does not know. Must not know... He had to make sure that Evil Eyes didn’t find out, he had to keep a secret? Those weren’t good to keep; you got in trouble for not telling things you knew. He relaxed slightly as she whistled, that told him more than her words did. She was scared, but hopeful, she didn’t want Evil Eyes to know about the good man fallowing and there might be a chance that they could get out. All those feelings were gone in an instant as Evil Eyes slammed a metal bar against the cage. He flinched and almost screamed, he was slightly thankful that Blast was in front, he would scream from a simple bang of metal on metal. But they still flinched back, pulling farther into the corner they had wedged themselves into, hoping that Evil Eyes hadn’t seen them.

When the van stopped, they didn’t know where they were. They mainly expected to be back at the Lab, but this place looked a little different than the Lab had. Granted they had never seen the outside, but it couldn’t be the same because just by looking at it, it wouldn’t have the same layout as the Lab. They were hauled out of the van and dragged inside, the doors slamming shut behind them. Amp was panicking, he didn’t know where they were going, or who the person was, or what was going to happen to them. He saw Ash and Matt being dragged off in a different direction with Evil Eyes and knew that couldn’t be good. Blast on the other hand was more curious than frightened at the moment. He could tell that this place was not the Lab, but what was it then?

Blast didn’t get to figure out where exactly they were when they were tossed into a room. It was bare and all it had was the white walls and bright lights in the ceiling. The door shut with a clang and the dead bolt slid into place with a thud. Now there was absolutely nothing. Amp immediately calmed down as they were finally alone and it was clear that they weren’t going to be hurt at the present moment. Blast was slightly bummed that he didn’t get to figure out what the building was, but was still curious.

He was getting frustrated; he didn’t like being in the back when things were going t get bad. And he could tell things were going to get bad because one, the white coat was dragging them off, two, the first always leads to something bad, enough said. He wanted to get in front, protect Amp, that was is job, why he was here, make sure Amp didn’t get too hurt, if he did…there was no telling what a boy with no life left in him would do. But once Blast saw Ash, and Matt in the room, he knew he couldn’t come out, his methods would kill them both along with whoever the torturer was. He would have screamed, shouted, made the man’s ears bleed and make him drop dead with a sound blade, but he didn’t want the others getting hurt either.

He felt pain on the back of his head, Amp was feeling the brunt of it but Blast had a faint feeling of whatever was being done to him. He was going to focus on that when he heard a whistle. Someone knew how to send messages through it, or at least he could hear their intentions behind it. He let his mental eye look around and trained his ear on Ash; she had asked him something, something about the outside, if there was anything there. There hadn’t been time to listen that far, only to keep themselves mostly whole, their arm was still throbbing painfully from the beating they had gotten. He sent a mental whistle back to her, slightly melancholy in sound, cut short at a slight high note. No time to listen, pain.

-Amp-

You would think he would be used to things like this by now. Being beaten on, being dragged out of a room, to be thrown in another and then more pain. It took him a few seconds to notice that Ash and matt were in the room. Why was he there then? If they were already being punished, what did he do this time; he was already punished by the guards, now there was something else? He was confused and scared and the pain in his arm intensified when he felt a hand grab his throat and slam him into the wall.

He head rung, and his throat burned, his hands instinctually went up to the one at his throat and tried clawing at the fingers cutting off his air. ”What is your name, boy?” He paused slightly, the voice was nice, contrary to the actions, and sounded sincere. He gasped for breath, pulling in some air through his constricted wind pipe. ”Amp….”

He felt the man’s hand release its hold on him slightly, allowing him to breathe more easily. He wondered if things would get better for him if he just cooperated with the man, so he wouldn’t get hurt anymore. He felt his head being turned and his eyes caught onto Ash’s. Then the man’s offer to tell him what happened and the promise of not being hurt further. He wanted to cooperate, he didn’t want to get hurt anymore, he was tired of it, there was always pain wherever he was. But Ash’s next words didn’t make sense, but at the same time they did. The man didn’t want to help them, he would hurt them either way. This had also happened to him before, people saying they wouldn’t hurt him, but did anyway. He was confused. ”Said no hurt….just say what happened…”

-Blast-

He could tell that Ash wasn’t happy with his response, he wouldn’t either, and he should have been listening, to find a way out. But he had to focus on what was happening around them, not what was going on outside the walls that confined them into this building. When he did turn his attention to the task at hand, he barely stopped Amp from blurting out what had happened, making their eyes swirl between light and dark blue. ”Quiet…idiot…” He whispered out loud to Amp, then quickly realized his error, he just hoped the Evil Eyed man wouldn’t look too far into it. Many here seemed insane. He spoke a little louder this time. ”An explosion…fire…had to get out…” One of their eyes was now light blue while the other was dark blue, Blast didn’t know this of course, he just hoped that his answer would satisfy evil Eyes.

He twitched slightly as he heard Maya start crying. She couldn't stand hearing those kids;it had been difficult enough to see the aftermath, but to hear it as such events unfolded was just too much. But if she keeps crying, we'll get caught! Have to get her to stop, we both need to go in there if we're going to do anything but be captured and charged for breaking and entering, possibly even attempted theft, He thought grimly, turning to Maya, and paled ever so slightly. Another worker here was headed down the hallway. Without any time to think, he pulled Maya close to him and kissed her, turning so that his back was all the worker would see. The moment he was gone( laughing and muttering to himself that the younger ones always found the weirdest places for "that kind of thing"), he let go, bright red and looked away. "I am sorry, Miss Maya....I.....there was no time for anything else I had no time to think......" He trailed off, waiting for thae well-deserved slap to come....

Matt
Matt snarled, thrashing with what little room he had in the restraints and cussing in every tongue he knew. But it was hopeless; he couldn't get free.He was too cold to use fire, and the area around him was too bright for shadows to be any help. The brightness burned even his back, covering him in blisters that were slowly getting worse with his struggling. I have to get Ash and the others out.... Two dead already, we can't lose anymore. None of us want to go back. They'll kill us all once we were in their hands again. They'd force us all into a Games arena with no way out..... He stopped, that dark thought paralyzing him. He couldn't kill them, not after they had become his friends, allies...... The way he was thinking, he would be the first to die.....

He could feel the heat of two new people; the look on Ash's face said she felt it too. But neither of them could tell if the new bodies were friend, or foe.....He just watched as Amp was slowly tortured, being offered promises of safety if he answered.

He stiffened when he felt the edge of a knife raised to his side, letting out a small whimper. It would have been louder if he didn’t feel Blast helping out, making his jaw clench. It was strange with both of them in control at once, Amp wanted to curl up, let Evil Eyes do what he wanted then just try and block it all out. He could feel that Blast wanted to fight back, struggle out of the tight grip that was around their throat. Amp had learned long ago that things just got worse if that happened.

He was getting confused with the answers and questions going back and forth. Evil Eyes said he knew that wasn’t all that had happened, that he wanted to know what had happened before the explosion. Amp opened his mouth to speak, but his intended answer didn’t come out, Blast took just enough control to speak instead of him.

-Blast-

He didn’t like what was going on, he wanted to scream, echo his voice around the room until it shattered. But he couldn’t, Matt and Ash were there, they would be shredded to bits if he screamed. But he could try and stall Evil Eyes, and he got his chance to not fight Amp for control and spoke instead of letting him. ”Just fire….don’t know….” He hoped that the man would be convinced but it didn’t seem so as he felt the knife cut into his side, Evil Eyes demanding an answer for the end to the pain.

-Amp-

He felt the sharp edge of the knife cut into the skin on his side and he started to struggle, instinct kicking in to keep himself alive if he could. But moving made it worse, he moved and the blade went deeper into his skin, causing blood to flow down his side. He whimpered, his voice threatening a scream, but he could tell Blast was keeping it from coming out, he wasn’t entirely sure why because he just wanted it to stop. Evil Eyes asked again, saying that the pain would stop if he just answered, the offer was tempting, and he wanted to take it, but blood was dripping to the floor, and he was feeling light headed again.

-Blast-

If he knew any meaningful cusses he would have used them about now. He could feel their head getting the tell tale sign of vision going fuzzy and sounds getting blurring together. There were the slices in their side form the knife, and blood was slowly pooling on the floor. But he wouldn’t let Evil Eyes know, but what was there to know? There was the explosion and it allowed them to escape. Amp and he were allowed out the small cell once in awhile when they left the door unlocked, it wasn’t like it was bad for them t just wonder down the halls sometimes, not that they wanted to. But there wasn’t anything more to say, he was in a cell, walked out when it was time to get food, helped Dusk to the area were the animal mutants were then everything went into chaos.

There was some noise off to the side and he could hear two more people, a female and a male. He could see the white on them, and that was about it, he didn’t want anything worse to happen, something bad always happened with people in white. He was dropped roughly on the floor and he could feel Amp fall into unconsciousness. Once again he was left at the front, but he couldn’t move, he felt so weak, he wanted to sleep. But he forced his eyes open, he saw the white coats come into the room, and trembled, he saw Matt still stuck to the wall, and Ash, still strapped down and blood dripping from her hand. He wondered briefly why there was pool of blood from him, stretching towards the table, his mind cleared for a second as he realized it must have been him, then his head went fuzzy again.

He winced and briefly pulled away as the red headed white coat wrapped up his side. He knew the healers did this, not white coats, white coats generally wrote something down, poked and prodded, noted how much blood has been lost and their state of consciousness. He wasn’t used to this and was slightly confused as he felt himself lifted gently and headed to the door. He was about to yell at the person, if he could get the strength to do so, but something stopped him. Ash was speaking to him and through his foggy mind he caught a few surprising words. ”Getting out.” That was one of the last things he expected to hear in this place, in this situation. But he accepted it, and allowed himself to be pulled along, until a voice in the doorway made him look up. Just seeing Evil Eye’s face made his side ache.

There was so much going on, and with his head being so foggy from the blood loss and his vision blurred and spotted from the beating, he couldn’t quite keep track of everything that was going on around him. There were flashes of color, wave after wave of undecipherable sounds going through his ears, and the faint feeling of himself being taken somewhere. Not like this hadn’t happened before, but the circumstances now were a bit different than they had been in the past. Before, he at least had an idea of what was to be expected, now he had no idea, there were tons of new things he had just gone through, a bunch of new people he had just seen and overall the entire situation didn’t make sense to his uneducated mind.

He felt himself being moved down hallways, more flashes of color, and sounds of voices weaving their way to tired ears and then there was that smell again. Something he had only, what he thought to be a brief, smell of something that he could only describe as fresh. There were the new sounds he had heard after the Lab, exploded and the color was green. He was outside again, finally, but there was meal clanking, and he was put inside something. There was something like that before, it had moved very fast, and took him to a different kind of Lab that wasn’t a Lab. He was just slumped against the side, waiting for his vision to stop being just spots and for the sounds to clear into something he could actually make out.

Everything was so confusing, he didn’t know what he was in, but it was all metal like some of the rooms he had been kept in before, and it was loud. There was a great rumbling and growling sound coming from the front where the two adults were, was there a creature up there? Waiting to spring at them if they did something wrong? He didn’t want to risk that chance and stayed curled up in his corner, he was so tired on top of that. Maybe now would be a good time to sleep, but what of Matt and Ash? He didn’t want to wake up and find them being hurt or gone, they were the closest he had to friends and wasn’t going to lose them now. Every time his eyes started to droop, he forced them open to make sure none of this flashed away like a dream.

-Blast-

He couldn’t quite figure out the two adults, first they were in a Lab like place, but then they came and took them away from another. Were they friends? Trying to save them from the Lab? Or just trying to take them to their own Lab away from another? The thought made him shiver in the back of the mind that they shared, was there more than one Lab? That would mean even more than just the ones he had seen had been taken, was the whole world like that? No, that couldn’t be right, he had seen a world outside the building he had lived in his whole life, so the world wasn’t just a large Lab. But then where were they going now? He would have to fight the coming urge to sleep in order to make sure they were going to be okay.

She chuckled at the banging that was coming from inside the room, she knew the girl was broken now, probably for good, but she had seen some resilient ones and knew sometimes they could be healed, it was just a matter of breaking them far enough to make it irreparable. She listened to Camleion as she walked, that would have been a great idea, letting the girl know she was tricked, and in the end tell her that the one she cared for was truly dead, that would have done it. She smiled a little, ”Yes, that would have been perfect. You can still do so if you wish, but give the little kitten time to heal, build her strength and hope that he’s alive, then tell her he’s dead.”

When she got to the Healers’ quarters she grabbed the closest one by the shoulder and turned the woman towards Camelion. ”Patch him up, and let him rest. Get another to go to the mutant in one of the torture rooms, make sure she stays alive.” The woman nodded quickly, quickly going to another who ran off to Dusk and she led Camelion to one of the cots to bandage his side.

They finally got to wherever they headed as the vehicle stopped and they started getting out, not that he had much strength to get anywhere on his own. Luckily Matt picked him up, and carried him inside…it wasn’t a Lab, not a testing room as there were more doors, and there weren’t as many white walls. He didn’t know what to call the place, it wasn’t scary looking and nothing, rather no one had come to hurt him yet, that is the two adults hadn’t turned around and strapped him to a table. He was so confused, and tired that he just let Matt take him, there wasn’t much he could if he didn’t want to go.

Blast

He was suspicious from the start, being who he was he wasn’t going to let his guard down, no matter how much he wanted to sleep, maybe eat. The building they were going in wasn’t a Lab, just a building. But he wasn’t going to go off of looks alone, they could have made it look different, to make sure he didn’t think they were going into a Lab. He was mentally scouting around, listening for the other minds that were out there, seeing if any were in pain, being tortured. But what he found was a little strange, they were all very calm, compared to what all he had heard before, there were no animalistic growls and shrieks, no cowering and muttering frightened people. They were close to how the guards and whitecoats were like, yet…less blood thirsty. But he wasn’t going to let his guard down, just in case.

She walked down the hallway to the guard’s training room; she knew she was going to find Peter there. She waltzed in, and noticed there wasn’t anyone on the weights, the treadmills, or any of the other equipment in the room. There was some cheering and bets being made near the fighting ring and she walked over. Eriyk was in the middle of a fight with Gabriel. She watched for a second, glancing around and noticed that Camelion had made his way over as well. Seems everyone likes a good fight… She thought to herself. She spotted Peter out of the crowd and put a hand on his shoulder. ”I have a new task for you. You will be going to the Institution, make sure that they think you work there. I want you to bring back a spider mutant, named Kumo. Now go.” The man gave her a stare through his mask, she could tell that he hated being told what to do but there was a slight relief in his eyes, probably from being taken off the task to find his son. It didn’t matter to her, as he eventually went off; she just hoped he didn’t screw it up.

The mutant struggled against him, obviously not liking the light at all as her pupils didn’t retract at the light. Vision probably only meant for the dark, and the molars were mostly gone. All of the lose one he pulled out, prodding at the gums to see what kind of teeth were underneath. After a few minutes he left her mouth alone, putting a set of headphones on her head. He went over to a machine that they were connected to and turned a knob. He started at a low frequency and turned the volume up high, waiting for some type of reaction to it as he slowly turned the dial, increasing the frequency to note how far the range of hearing went.

Amp

He was slightly confused as they continued through the strange building. There were some white rooms but it didn’t look like the doors would lock shut, there were cracks around the entire doors anyway, easily broken down and escapable. When they got to the next room, it wasn’t just a room, there were rooms off of it and everything looked so strange, there weren’t scientist’s tools, no bright lights, no tables that were used to strap you down onto. This place was so confusing, yet he felt that he could relax, not worry, it was strange to him and he retreated into the back of their mind in order to think about this, though his thoughts were simple, he wanted to try and make sense of it.

Blast

He could feel that Amp was perplexed by this place, the strange colors the strange objects in the room that only he could see that could still be used to hurt them. Then Amp went to the back of their mind leaving him to be in control while Matt dropped them off in a room. He winced as his arm was jostled, he figured it was broken, not like it hadn’t been broken before but this time it felt different, like it wasn’t quite in the right spot, plus a healer hadn’t come to check on him so he figured they did something to make sure it fixed itself in the right spot. There was a scream from another room and he felt Amp cower in the back of their mind, while he mentally rolled his eyes and walked to go see what was wrong, holding his arm close.

He looked inside the room and at first was confused by all of it. The room wasn’t like something he had seen before, it had things inside that he had no name for, there was water coming from the ceiling and he involuntarily shuddered at the thought of some of the tests that contained water. He glanced to the other side of the room and saw Matt and Ash; Ash was coiled up and shaking, Matt trying to calm her down. He figured that since Ash was the way she was she was trying not to get wet. But Matt started cleaning her off slowly and he blinked, he didn’t remember the last time him and Amp had been cleaned off. It happened occasionally, the guards would spray them with water or there would be a test where you were submerged in it. He glanced at the two adults, they had clean clothes, he looked down at his own, they were tattered, dirty, and more than one spot had blood.

He took a step back as the man left the room, and started doing things in the other room. His ears picked them up, there were metal sounds, some other things that sounded like…swishing, was the best he could describe it as, or something being moved inside a container. What it was he didn’t know. There were more sounds and he couldn’t identify what was going on, which he found frustrating seeing as every time a scientist or a healer came by he could tell what they were going to do by the sounds of the things around them made, and how they were moving. But this was a mystery to him, besides the slight hum of fire, other than that it made no sense. He just wanted to understand what that fire meant, was he heating metal to stick to him? Something that needed to be heated before it was injected with a needle? He was making himself paranoid, but for good reason he thought, and jumped as a hand touched his shoulder, he was lost in thought and didn’t hear the footsteps. He blinked at the man, and then glanced back at the running water, it didn’t seem to be filling up the container at the bottom, and the slight steam from it felt nice compared to a cold cell. But he didn’t trust it; he glanced back up at the man, Amp’s fear was probably shining through their eyes.

He didn’t like the idea of getting into the water, it could be burning, as he could tell from the steam, they could get trapped and the whole room fill up with water, there were endless possibilities. ”Don’t do it….water not good…” He didn’t want to take control from Blast, mainly because he knew he would just end up more tired than he was now. ”Don’t hear well in water….too loud…..ears full too quiet….”

Blast

He waited until Ash and the others left the room before stepping towards the stream of water. He heard Amp complaining in the back of his head. ”I know…too strange don’t trust it…” He reached out carefully, putting hand underneath the stream like Ash had done. He blinked, it was warm but it didn’t burn, it pelted his hand almost soothingly. He could feel Amp relax, ”Maybe….is good…?” Blast frowned a little, Amp was a little too trusting. That was the way they got you, pretending to be something good, then turned around and hurt you. ”I don’t know Amp….don’t trust so easily, dimwit…”

He liked the warm water; he didn’t care if Blast was untrusting of it, which is probably why he got them in more pain than Blast did when he was in control. He was also curious about the smells that were coming from outside the door, he didn’t know what it was but it was nice, and he wanted to go over and see what it was. ”Go see what it is….? Please….?” He still didn’t have the strength to even attempt to take control.

He frowned a little at Amp’s comment. ”No….not yet….” He whispered, not even realizing he was speaking out loud. He was looking around the room, looking for anything that wasn’t in plain sight, listening for any type of machines that would trap him somewhere. He heard the footsteps and spun around quickly at the older boy. ”Amp, you okay?” He frowned a little, why did everyone assume Amp was always in control. He wasn’t just a voice Amp heard all the time. ”Amp’s fine…I’m just….checking things…” He went back to glancing around the room, still listening for things he couldn’t quite hear.

Blast could tell Amp’s attention was elsewhere, focusing on the nice smell and new sounds about the different rooms nearby. While he looked down at the clothes, they seemed fine enough, better than the tattered, shredded clothing he had on. He slowly pulled off the blood spattered shirt off of his small frame with one hand, jarring his other arm a little a he let out a hiss of pain, momentarily forgetting that it was still hurt. ”Why does she care about us all…? She does know that not everyone gets saved right? We all end up dead in that building...” He reached out to the water again, still not completely trusting the area and putting his head under the stream. Amp was right; it got loud as the water rushed passed his ears. The warm water felt nice and he felt himself relaxing. He glanced at one of the cloths nearby and took it, wiping his face, and areas that had become grey from dirt. He flicked his head back and shook his head to fling water off his hair and glanced back down at the clothes. ”Why should we trust this Healer-man?” He started pulling on the slightly baggy clothing using one arm then opened the door, hair still dripping and his arm held close. ”We don’t know anything about him. The woman. Or what they plan on doing with us. I doubt it will be anything good when they find out what we can do.” His voice was clipped; the closest thing to anger that he would get to, more frightened annoyance if one could hear as well as he could.

He rolled his eyes at Matt’s comment and just let him rant. True the guy did get them out, and had brought them here, where he couldn’t find anything such as trap anywhere, and let them clean and wear clean clothes. He just didn’t see why they should be so trusting. He hated they way people were so deceiving sometimes.

The room was dark, so someone must have remembered to hit a switch somewhere so it was possible to rest somewhat, not that it mattered as most could sleep with the light on by now. There were footsteps, almost in time with his heartbeat as they came closer, and closer. There was the ching of keys and the creak of the door. Not another test, not another test. He looked out from under his dark and matted hair at the man that had came in, barely enough strength to do that, let alone struggled against anything that was going to be done to him. But the man came closer; there wasn’t a beating, no harsh words, instead ones that were like silk, making promises and deals. The reward of food that was more than the stale piece he got a few hours previously, and water, that tasted like the fresh he had heard outside the walls a few times. He followed willingly, the promise of more food, good water, a bath, and good clothes drawing him to trust the man. Then a sharp hand had him by the hair, another keeping his arms in place, more men came, a muzzle put over his mouth and a metal table came into view. He looked for the man, desperate for help, and his head pounded when he saw the man giving the orders.

He felt Blast fall back into his own part of the mind that they shared and so he was pushed to the front. He didn’t know what to do, the place was strange though he had been paying attention and knew the Blast had found nothing wrong. He walked slowly, wincing and rubbing his arm and winced more. He didn’t think it was in the right spot as it didn’t feel the same as the other. He made it to the front room where he saw Ash sitting with something in her lap, the Healer-man and woman in another room doing something at a counter. He just watched, water dripping down his face and he went to sit down in the room where Ash was, not wanting to be alone. He sat on the floor, holding his arm close, seeing flashes of a memory that Blast was reliving and his whole body trembled.
