"I'll fight for a cause... I won't die for it.".

0 · 267 views · located in Tower of Magic

a character in “The Overworld Rebellion.”, originally authored by Ersatz Creed, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Name: Victoria Crownguard
Age: 36
Affinity: Neutral (Mercenary)
Magic (If any): None
Weaponry (If any): Two cross bows. A small one that was mounted to her wrist and another, larger, heavy crossbow she called "Final Hour.". Along with these crossbows and a pouch for their bolts, she carries a much smaller pouch for her Concussive Knock Back Bolts. The Bolts, rather than having a pointed head, were tipped with a hollow tip (often carved out to look like a fist). Inside of these is an expensive but potent explosive powder that upon impact explode. The small shock wave from the explosion is harmless but can knock enemies down or even knock them out cold if they hit them in the head.

All was quiet across the barren land of the Overworld, small gusts of wind blew dust across the landscape, the walls of the great walled human city, 'Fort Hope' were just in sight on the horizon. Angels, warriors from the heavens were working hard on the barren land, preparing for an attack. Some were building beacons and portals linking this realm with the Heavens, others were building strange buildings of great architecture. It was a military base, means of the Angels claiming land in this war.

Suddenly, a massive rift opened next to the partly built base. The ground ripped open, hellfire blew from the rift as the great beasts of the Underworld crawled out.
A few Demons were present, wielding swords of fire and wearing hell stone armor. They roared at the angels, gripping the swords with great strength and throwing themselves at the beings of the Heavens. Most of the creatures were lost souls, all of which were of a unique, disgusting look. They had their own bodies as weapons, strange sharp bones on arms pointing upwards, spears made of their own spine and even their heads as a projectile.
All of the Underworld soldiers attacked.

The Angels had little time to react, some were caught in the sudden attack and ripped apart and devoured by the lost souls. Most of the Angels managed to escape the first charge, using their great wings to pull themselves into the air. Drawing their swords of light and summoning shields of enchanted metal. One of the Angels shouted something in a strange language, causing the rest of them to charge at the Underworld inhabitants.

Yet another battle for land had begun, the roars of the demons could be heard by all.

Among one of the peasants was a oddly dressed man that had on a top-hat with gloves and wore a skull mask with a zip-up collar, holding a map in his right hand while his left rested on one of his guns. Pulling back on his black coat the man turned to area where the battle cries came from. "It begins." Grim whispered to himself, Grim then reached for his other gun and fires once into the air to gather everybody's attention. "This is not a safe area to be in! You are all in grave danger!" Once the words left his lips the entire crowd then looked at Grim like he was clinically insane. One peasant spoke out with "Get out of here you moron!"

The sky began to darken and the air started to smell of burning ash and volcanic fumes, suddenly a giant fire ball came from direction of the battle and flew past the over the crowd of people and struck a roof a house causing it to quickly catch fire. The fire starts spreading over the village, the air became even thicker with smoke. Panic was now a thing Grim had to handle and take care of because of the dumbfounded fools that keeps him from trying to save them all. " What did I say?!?!" Grim said looking at the man who called him a moron, the man looked almost sorry for what he had said, with some satisfaction Grim then pointed both of his pistols down to the ground and with a yellow light now forming around the guns a array of light then pulsated from the pistols surrounding the entire village causing a yellow bubble to form around it. Grim shouted out to his pistols " Chaos! Order! Give it a triple lair shield!" With that said the guns started to glow brighter as if they understood what Grim was saying and then two more arrays where formed by the first.

"This will give everyone only five minutes!...HIDE NOW!" Grim was exhausted from over use of his newest Gun Trigger ability, He then waited for what was coming next.

Jeremy was writing, sitting in his office located at the top room. It's a lot of work to manage the tower along with the garrison protecting the city. Suddenly, a large explosion was heard outside of the tower, it came from the city. What the hell is happening?
One of the teleporting mages appeared in the room, a look of distress on his face; "Mr. Dantoh. The Demons and Angels are at it again. The fight is moving over to the city!" He reported to Jeremy, speaking fast and panicking at the same time.

"Don't worry, calm down. The garrison would be aware at the walls and should be able to fight back. Go and teleport some magic technicians to the walls and use magic cannon rounds." Jeremy ordered, his voice mono tone and calm. He stood as he spoke and headed to the door. "I'll go to the streets to assist in maintaining morale."

Jeremy then walked down the tower, ordering the wizards on standby to run out to the city and gather all potential defenders at the base of the tower.

[All skilled chars would be contacted by teleporting mages to gather them at the tower base.]

The shields have had there limit! Grim thought to himself as the fire around him grew in size. He stood there on-top of a local well in the center of the city, looking for signs of anyone that may have stayed behind. They must have escaped through the Sewers of the city. Grim then saw in the corner of his mask a large built man with a rather oversized horse pick in hand stood at the front of a blacksmith's shop.

Grim leaped off of the well and dashed to the man, Why is he still here!?!? "What are you doing we need to get out of the city now!" Grim then stopped in-front of the man, the sky darkened even more-so then before, Grim had to take a look at the chaos around himself and the Blacksmith before realizing that the battle had already moved to the entrance of the Fort Hope. Its to late!

The madness that surrounded them was just like being drug into a whole other world, chaos at its best and... also... peace, the Angles, the Demons, they where fighting in what seemed to the two men standing there in a time warp waiting to be caught in the crossfire of such a great battle. The sky's color was illuminating a beautiful florescent white light, while the earth seemed to shake violently and the ground spit out fire and destruction. "What have I done!"

Grim and The Blacksmith stood there...waiting... As the Demons broke through the gate a teleporting wizard fazed behind the two men grabbing both of men on the shoulders and with a purple light engulfing the three and they vanished as a pillar of fire spewed from the ground from where they were standing.

All around there were panicked faces. The sounds of battle grew louder and louder. The clash outside was one of epic proportions. There were flashes of color and sounds so terrifying, so alien, sights so magnificent and petrifying that if one were not paralyzed with an odd sense of awe they would be with fear. Victoria however was not one of these people. She did not go outside to investigate the earlier noises. She was far too preoccupied with more precising matters.

Victoria motioned for another drink. The barkeep, who had come down with a bad case of weak knee syndrome, nodded and did as she instructed. The bar itself was empty. Everyone who was there had responded to their natural flight or fight instincts, choosing one or the other, but exciting the bar all the same. Victoria, or Vi as some would call her for short, had not been hired. Being of woman who followed a rather beneficial mantra (in that it benefited her); "If your good at something, never do it for free.", she had decided to stay in the bar and continue to drink. However it just so happened that the Barkeep also wanted to run off but he was being forced to stay (funny how the threat of a misplaced bolt to the knee will make most men obedient). As the barkeep approached with her drink, a Wizard popped up behind Vi. Instinctively, Vi turned, her right arm (the arm that had the smaller wrist mount crossbow) extended out to him, and there was no doubt that she intended to shoot first and ask questions whenever they were relevant but fortune favored the Wizard. He grabbed her prior to being able to do this and with a flash of bright light, took her out of the bar and to the Tower of Magic.

Dug'Mal was not one to stand by as a fireball suddenly came carening over and smashed into the thatching of a roof. Some man was shouting about with gun's in his hands, but Dug'Mal didn't wait.

He ran into his smithy, busting through the door and grabbing a vareity of things. Two hammers, one of them suited for combat, some food, and a large some of coins. Hefting a bag over his shoulder with these items, he ran back out, gripping the horsemans pick in his hands.

Just as he got out there though, he, and the same guy fireing off his guns, were grabbed by some man who seemed to come literally out of no where, and disappeared in a flash of light.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An instant later, Dug'Mal skidded to a stop, hefting his Horseman's pick as he shifted around, examining his surrondings. There was some strange man here, who he could have sworn was the one who grabbed him. Along with him, was the gun shooting man, and Dug'Mal examined him a bit more, and upon doing so, came to the conclusion with the simple thought of I'm going to have to ask him about that tophat...

Along with him was some woman, with white hair, glasses, and some sort of red dress. Slap on some fancy looking equipment coupled with a wrist crossbow, and one could get the idea that she was a fighter.

He then starred at the man who grabbed him earlyier, a look on cold contempt on his face. "What's the meaning of this, there are people that are going to die out there."

"There is a very important meaning of this." The bold mono toned voice burst around the group, as if they were surrounded by the same voice. At the same time, another three people were teleported with the group. One, a swordsman, carrying a large longsword and shield. The second, a bowman equipped with a longbow and a large quiver of arrows. Finally, a strange eastern-like man was standing, un-phased by the teleport. He carried a katana in it's sheath and attached to the belt.

Finally, Jeremy appeared, walking down the large spiral staircase situated in front of the group. He carried a large scythe -About 1.5 times bigger than his body with the blade being 0.75 times the size of his body- held on his back upside down.
"As you all would know, I am Jeremy Dantoh. The second of the legendary warlocks. I am the military strategics governor of Fort Hope." Jeremy introduced himself as he came into view of the others, walking down the last stretch of the staircase and stopping in front of the group.
"I have summoned you six here due to your great potential of becoming defenders of humanity. As you all know, the Heavens and the Underworld are at it again, with us left in the crossfire. And so, I need your help to drive them away from this area. If you do so, and prove yourselves. I believe that you can make history, and become the great defenders of humanity." His voice seemed very boring, it was mono toned and gave off a signal that Jeremy is pretty bored as it is.

"Do you all wish to save the small number of lives who remain in this war?"

Victoria gave a look of distaste at the individuals among her. They were warriors or fighters, people who were capable of fighting but to her non of them seemed too threatening. The Swordsman's armor were no match for her bolts, the fine tip combined with the sheer force that propelled them was sufficient to penetrate it with ease. The Bowman seemed like a more capable match for her, but then again he did not seem as agile as her. With her wrist mounted crossbow, Vi could dance around her enemies while at the same time filling them with holes, she doubted the same could be said about the Bowman. Then there was that strange looking foreigner. Victoria knew that a curved sword like the one he carried on his belt had more cutting potential then the conventional straight ones they used here but like any other sword, it was a close range weapon and like any other fool dumb enough to get close to her, she'd give them a few scars to remember her by.

There were other two fellows there but Victoria did not get a good look at them before some scythe wielding "Warlock" came down from the stairs infront of them. He rambled on about something that sounded alot like a charity event to Vi, and she wasn't the kind to for anything for free. She was respectful enough to not merely walk away in the middle of him explaining to everyone why they were there but she was bold enough to laugh at his proposition.

"Defenders of Humanity? Listen. That sounds real cute but I couldn't honestly care less. You and your merry band of "heroes" can put your lives on the line for these people but unless your paying me, I'm not working for you.".

Victoria crossed her arms and shifted her weight to her left foot. "Now if you could point me in the direction of the nearest bar, I'll be on my way.".

Jeremy listened to the woman's 'moaning', his arms crossed. Once she stopped, Jeremy gave a small pause, thinking out his words.

"Are you stupid?" Jeremy sighed, "Every one here is important in the defense of Fort Hope. If you don't help out, there is a higher chance that we will be wiped out. Lives are more important than money, besides. If we fail at our defense, there would be no people to hire you or pay you. You didn't even let me mention a reward." He explained, his tone hinted his annoyance at the ignorance of the woman.

"My superior had left to join the expedition outside the walls, he left me in charge. Which means I control everything and every one here. I just need you guys to assist the garrison on the walls and drive the battle away from here. The lost souls of the underworld are targeting us due to the living souls here, if we show them that we are not to mess with, then we would be left alone."

Jeremy Dantoh...One of the three Warlocks. Grim soon noticed several others that where also fazed into the room, all looked capable for battle as a well thought out unit. As Jeremy and what seemed to Grim some sort of rouge with a crossbow attached to her wrist where arguing about a reward for the safety of humanity, Grim took his time to analyze the people around himself. He then came to the conclusion that, That Fort Hope has a chance to fight back.

Grim looked at Jeremy, "I have my reasons to be here and it is my job to keep the chaos from overruling order in this land. I am Grim Von Reaper Valentine, here to help with the survival of Fort Hope." Grim gripped both of his guns and gritted his teeth and then turned to the Rouge. "We have no time to worry about a reward! Are you so incoherent to your surroundings that you cant see what is going on outside?" Angered at the greed that was displayed just then by the Rouge, " Tell me what your name is Rouge... Matter of fact why not we all introduce ourselves." Grim then turned to the others in the group.

"Aye. That way we could all know each other a little bit more before this fort gets overrun, and ransacked. The guards over there last time i saw them were getting their hands with creatures of the Underworld. Honestly, what is the purpose of everyone here? I mean truly we must all be great heroes for the great mages of Fort Hope to summon us even me, a drunkard with no home spending the last of his money to ale and booze before he dies and rots in eternal blasphemy." Vincent as said stepping closer to the crowd. "Truly, why should we all bother on this? The Hell spawn are up in the Overworld from the Underworld, the Gods forsaken all of us, and what's left of the mighty Angels are just a rag tag group that they call an army." Vincent said again walking around looking at each of them with his mask on. "Like it or not, the creatures from the Underworld has risen and they are winning, not only that but they do show kindness. They just bargain and are more realistic comparing to those other gods. I know because they gave me the chance to live again, for those gods that I've worshiped and prayed for days not only did not answer, but they let my whole family slaughtered, my brothers, my sisters, my mother and father." Vincent said as he walked to the wooden chair and gripped onto it, his eyes turning red instead of light blue. Filled with anger, and despair with one tear dripping from his eyes.

He moved back up. "Vincent Pitt of House Pitt, only one of my name, and the last of my whole family. Now who are you?" He said looking at all of them.

Dug'Mal no longer remained quite, his eyes shifted to and fro between the present party. A woman argued over money, rather than lives, which didn't help with his rather bad mood. Resigning the fact of how me might sound slightly hypocritical, he spoke with a heavily scottish accent, with a sort of rugged force in his voice.

"Al'ight, so, sure. Le's doom humanity for a'bit o' money. We c'en all go to 'a bar and drink our'elves damned, 'cause in theory, it should work, 'cause the real world 'orks like that, and the bar is gunna be 'ere when the world ends." He twirls the horsemans pick in his hand, until the blunt/pick end was upright. "'right, so, be off 'den. Not like the outter area caught a bit'o fire. So le's all defy all 'common sense 'en jus' let em roll over us, 'cause we don' care 'bout n'uthing but money."

He stood, for a moment, examining everyone around him. "Dug'mal. Dug'mal Morgan."

The armored guy stood forward at the ground, raising his hand a little. "I'm Jonas. One of the last Templar knights." He spoke with a strong British accent. His body clanged as squeaked as his body moved.
Following the knight, the bowman spoke out, his arms crossed. "Leo" He spoke out, his voice was a little quiet and seemed reserved.
Finally, the easterner moved. He gave a bow and spoke with a Chinese accent; "Xiao Tin, pleased to meet you all." He bowed again and stared forward at the warlock before the group.

"Hm, names are hard to remember, but I will try to remember them all." Jeremy spoke, his body language shown that he was confused and his mind was elsewhere.
"Well, now that we have ourselves introduced. I need you all to assist in the defense. Once we have pushed the fight away from us, rebuilding will occur and maybe some mass recruitment. After that, I will be situating rewards." He smiled as he explained, pulling his arm behind his back to pull his scythe out of the clips. Wielding it with his right arm, he stood it on the floor. "Well, shall we get going?"

Vincent stepped back. "How long can those defenses help even with all of us? If you truly wanna save every man here then you shouldn't defend it any longer. It could only hold for a few more days, what needs to be done is for you to evacuate the population, groups gather inside this tower and have them teleported to separate havens so they can be safe, and then have each of us escort them to a new home, isolated from conflicts as the two Worlds battle on ours. I mean they'll be everywhere but at least our species can survive." Vincent said sternly looking at everyone hoping that they would agree. He held the hilt of his sword to rest on it and then leaned against a table.

It would be foolish if they didn't agree He thought as he was waiting for a reply.
