Description

Image

Name:
Nemoru "Neru" Chiri

Age:
18

School:
Riverview School

Personality:
Neru is a rather lazy, relaxed person. No matter how lazy she is, even when doing her work, she still manages to get A's and B's in her classes. She prefers to stare out the window she sits next to everyday, instead of listening in class. Even she may seem like a lazy punk girl, she's a hard worker. Although it doesn't look like it, Neru is an otaku. She has posters of the Vocaloids on her walls, cosplays of anime characters, and reads hentai manga. But, she only does this when she gets home so, she is what's known as a closet otaku. Neru has never had alcohol, so she's not exactly able to hold her liquor very well. Under the influence of alcohol, she gets sleepy, blushes deeply, and crashes, snoring like a cat. Even though she looks like she could be out cold, she somehow is still able to hear and think perfectly. Kinda like being in a short coma for her. By the tie Neru wakes up, she will have forgotten most of what had happened during the time she was under the influence.

History:
Neru was born in Japan. She moved to the US when she started junior high school. How she got her nickname was from her baby brother, Kai, when she was 11. He couldn't say her name correctly (eg. "Nemuro", "Nemuri"), so he ended up calling her "Neru" instead. Neru started being a closet otaku when she was 13, in Japan. One of her cousins had given her two albums from Hatsune Miku. Neru ended up loving the Vocaloids, then taking her hobbies with her while moving to the US. She has a short-term memory loss, but she has excellent memory studying five minutes before a test. Neru has known DJ ever since seventh grade. They were in the same classes throughout most of their years. And through those years while they were in school together, Neru started to have feelings for him. She was always too shy and afraid to tell him about her true feelings. Now as seniors, Neru wants to tell him how she feels about him.

So begins...

Nemoru Chiri, otherwise known as Neru, sat in her mom's car on her way to school. "Neru-chan, what are you guys going to in school today?" Neru sighed and kept her elbow on the window. "I have no clue, Mama..." When the got to the school, Neru picked up her backpack from the floor and kissed her mom goodbye. "Bye, Mama." "Ja ne, Neru-chan." As her mom drove away, Neru ran to her homeroom class.

English. She didn't really like that class that much. She put her elbow on her desk, and looked outside through the window. Class, we'll be doing a special project starting today." The class groaned, as Neru sighed. "We'll be doing this project called "The Pen Pal Project"." Neru raised her hand nonchalantly and the teacher called on her. "What exactly are we supposed to do?" The teacher cleared her throat and explained. "All you students will be given a pen pal from Hollyfield Prep." She raised her hand again. "Well, in my opinion, I honestly think that the students there at Hollyfield are just... Ugh..." The class snickered as Neru put her elbow down again. "Well, you'll have to live with this project for a while. Now, Nemoru, come pick a partner." She got up from her desk and walked over to the teacher's desk. Picking out and name, she played with the edge of her skirt. When she chose a name, she looked at it and sighed. "I don't know who the hell this, John, person is but, he better not be an ass...." The class snickered again and the teacher glared at them, silencing them. Neru went back to her desk nd stared out the window again. 'This is pathetic....'

DJ Woodstock, infamous underground DJ and all-around silent goof, did not have a single fuck to give to his English teacher. That was not to say he necessarily didn't like the Mrs. Newman. She was a nice, young lady. She took the time to try and absolve issues before they started, and listened to the needs of the individual students. She knew when to be tough and when to be strict, the perfect balance every teacher and political leader strives for. It was not to say that he was a rebellious punk, either. He was, usually, but not to Mrs. Newman. He had too much respect for her.

The reason Woodstock had not a single fuck to give was due to his excitement for the night coming in a week. That night would be the night that he broke from the underground. While he loved the underground, and all the music and brotherhood it had, one could not live off of the scrounging small change that it brought. He had to think bigger. That night, he was DJ'ing a party...where the surface of the mainstream would hear the grace which was Woodstock's electronic noise. He daydreamed, eyes closed with a look of contentment on his face.

Of course, the headphones suctioned to his ears didn't help either, blocking out all sounds. So hearing the teacher call him was a little difficult.

"DJ...DJ...DJ!" Mrs. Newman sighed as one of her students, and arguably her most interesting one, was dreaming away. The boy was a mystery--his high school transcripts were under the name of 'DJ Woodstock', as well as all of his information seemed...shady. What she didn't know is that Woodstock made his own records, placing them in the stead of what should have been his own. The school still never found out who it was that hacked the mainframe.

She hated to bring the boy back to Earth, but class had begun. She gave a nod to the lad behind Woodstock. "Jacob, if you would, please." Jacob nodded back, then thwacked Woodstock on the back of the head. Woodstock removed the headphones, snapping out of his beat-leaden dreams, the room instantly filling with heavy-beat techno, with a fast tempo and an upbeat sound. The music stopped as Woodstock realized what was going on, and turned off his iPod sheepishly.

"Welcome back to the real world, DJ." Mrs. Newman chuckled. Some of the class snickered as DJ shrugged, again sheepishly. "Anywho, as I said, we are starting a Pen Pal Project. You will all be given a pen pal from Hollyfield Prep. You are expected to write at least two letters a week, with a minimum of a half of a page in length. DJ, if you would like to pick your Pen Pal, please."

With a small groan, Woodstock got up and made his way to the front, fishing a name out of the bowl. 'Maxi Mathews'. Interesting. Deciding that there was not a moment to spare, he made his way back to his desk, grabbing his pen, then scribbling out the letter he would send.

Dear Maxi,

Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
You go to Prick High;
I go to Riverview.
You got your money and cars,
The cream of the crop.
I get secondhand clothing and
A shitty car that's been shot.
Don't have a parent,
Nor two;
Only scars
And a realistic lifeview;
Four month's rent to pay;
Got no popularity due,
But that's okay
'Cause to be me I don't have to suck cock, unlike you.

Sincerely,
DJ Woodstock

Woodstock gave a small sound to catch the attention of Neru, who sat next to him. He handed over his paper, as if to ask, 'What do you think?'

"Dear Neru,

"I really don't know what to say, since this is my first time doing this. My name is John. I think you already know that. So let's start with the basics I guess. Favorite color? Mine is Blue. Favorite band? Mine is Paramore. Favorite activity? Mine is writing. Well, English class is about over with so I'm ending it here. Hope to hear from you soon."

Signed by,
John Jackson."

Neru looked at the paper and started to write on a separate sheet.

Dear John,

"Well, I'm not used to this either... I've only had a pen pal once, and that was my long-lost cousin in Okinawa. Well, my favorite color is purple. My favorite band is One OK Rock (it's a Japanese band). Lastly, I don't really have a favorite activity, save for staring outside my window everyday at school. Ugh, class is over (thank God). Hope to hear from you later on.

Sincerely,
Nemoru Chiri, also known as "Neru"

Neru poked DJ's side with her purple pen. "Hey. Class is over. Let's go... You remember what class we have next?"

Woodstock gave a frown as he was ignored, Neru writing a letter of her own--seemingly in response. His observation was deemed correct when the teacher handed him a letter that had been written by the girl he was supposed to pen-pal with. While some of his other classmates read the letter he intended to send, complimented by snickering and 'Damn, son', he read this Maxi's letter.

Dear DJ.....
This assighnnent is fucking retarded. So don't expect long intellectual letters from me. I mean.. I doubt you would understand them anyway, right? Well.. yeah. So I really couldn't care less if you replied. But if there is one thing you should know about me... its that I am not like other girls here.

Woodstock reread the letter six times, each time his face growing more and more infuriated. One could almost see the steam billowing out of his ears as he took up the paper and pen once more

Dear Maxi,

Not understand?
Are you calling me dumb?
I've built more technology
Than the boys that you've done.
Long and intellectual?
Wow, that's a laugh--
You're probably just a blonde,
Just a nice piece of ass.
I can write poems
And can I write raps
My music is advanced,
Talent has no cap.
I read War and Peace
And the peices of Poe,
Probably the only thing you've read
Is 'Go, Spot, Go'!
Not like the others?
You hypocritical bitch.
I've heard more honesty
From a lying witch.
Not like the others?
Bitch, if that was true,
You would not have judged me
Whether or not I'm in front of you.
I'll bet any amount of money
That you drove a nice car to school,
Worried about your nice clothes,
And put on makeup for school.
I'll bet mommy and daddy
Paid for all that,
Fucking bitch,
Probably think I'm a gnat.
Well listen up, bitch,
At least I'm realistic,
Ain't got a mommy or daddy
The foster program was sadistic.
My car is shitty,
It's been shot a time or two.
I don't always know when I'll eat
With four months rent due.
Can't get a job,
Can't get cash,
Not even popular,
But at least I'm not white trash.
Scars and nightmares
Grace body and soul
Like a twisted demon Jesus
Tossing this sinner to the wolves and cold.

Now, I'll admit;
I assumed you were a prick.
I shouldn't have judged,
But it seems I was right,
Right, bitch?

Sincerely,
DJ Woodstock

DJ's head shot up as he was poked with a pen in his side. He looked to Neru, who was asking what class they had next. He facepalmed, a sigh accompanying it. Taking up his notepad, he wrote out the day's schedule for her.

English
Study Hall
Computer Science and Programing
Gym
Lunch
Calculus
Physics
GTFO. Early release 'cause we're seniors.

You're lucky we just so happen to have the same classes and teachers.

He handed the schedule over, then stood and gathered his own things, placing the letter he had just written on the teacher's desk. He then stood by the door and waited for Neru.

She laughed and smiled. "Oh yeah, huh?" She picked up her handmade bag and left her letter on the teacher's desk, meeting with DJ. "So how's your pen pal going? Mine's kinda boring...." She flipped her purple hair off to the side. 'I wonder who DJ likes....'

Woodstock watched as Neru deposited her letter on the teacher's desk, then exited, he leading them to their next class.

"So how's your pen pal going? Mine's kinda boring...." He watched as she flipped her purple hair to the side. Sexily. Or, at least, not intentionally so. Nor even at all. But Woodstock had kinda had a thing for people who were different, whether it be by physical traits or personality, and Neru was certainly no exception. She had the hair of a raver, the body of a succubus, and the heart of an angel. A perhaps lazy angel, but one nonetheless.

Woodstock pulled out a small wipeboard that he used for detailed communication, seeing as most people could read body language. He wrote on the board as one would speak, writing out, 'Fucking hypocritical bitch.' He erased the message after a moment, continuing his 'speech'. 'Says she's "not like the other girls". My ass she's any different, she insulted me right off the flop.'

As he walked the halls, his wipeboard was sent to the floor as the loud, intentional bang of a chip bag sent a jolt through Woodstock, his eyes wide as he unintentionally gripped his shoulder. He remained like this for a few seconds before giving a sigh, realizing the source of the gunshot-like noise was not a gun at all. He picked up the wipeboard again, and continued walking, not a word 'said' about the incident to Neru. He allowed his headphones to blast in techno again, playing a Vocaliod remix of a song known as 'Levan Polka'.

He smiled, the music soothing him. He looked to Neru, who seemed to enjoy the techno-esqe song as well. 'Say, got anything going on Saturday?'

'Fucking hypocritical bitch.' He erased the message after a moment, continuing his 'speech'. 'Says she's "not like the other girls". My ass she's any different, she insulted me right off the flop.' Neru sighed. "Well, at least you're kind of saying whatever you want... Mine's just... Ugh...." She listened to the music that was practically blasting through his headphones. She loved hearing the remix of one of her favorite songs by one of her favorite vocaloids. 'Say, got anything going on Saturday?' She looked at him, giving him 'the look'. "You really expect me, the laziest person in the entire senior class, to have something going on this Saturday? Of course not!" Then whispering to herself, "Expect for posing in my cosplay...." Neru shook her head and looked at him again. "How about you? You doing anything this Saturday?" 'And you still won't have to find out that I'm a closet otaku...' Flipping her hair again, she yawned and covered her mouth. "Uwhaa~ You know, I don't mind doing anything this Saturday.... We can just hang at your place, or whatever..."

Suddenly, Jacob came sprinting down the hall, quickly giving Neru a letter. Giving a sly wink, he dashed off down the hall again. 'Something's wrong with that kid....' Opening the letter, she read through it quickly.

Dear Neru,

"You seem lame. But it is cool. So what it is like there in prison known as Riverview? Nothing much here but the whole life of luxury. Not a criminal filled palace. Since you wrote back this time, I know I will get a letter back."

Signed,
John Jackson

She stuffed in into her bag pocket, not even bothering to shut the zipper. 'I'll just reply tonight.... If I remember, at least...'

Woodstock smiled with an excited gleam in his eyes as she stated that she had nothing planned for that weekend. 'Sweet! Wanna go to a party? He gave a mental grumble as he erased the message, knowing that speaking would have been easier. University of Down-the-Street's Alpha Pi Omega frat is paying me to DJ!'

The University of Dover-Soughton, more commonly referred to as the University of Down-the-Street due to it's short distance from both Riverview and Hollyfield, was a mediator between the two schools. The frats and sororities had a rule for no high school rivalries, and what couldn't be solved by principle would either be soothed with booze or taken to the Circle of Death. The school, itself, was even a mediator--those of Riverview who were actually good students would go here, as well as those who preferred to not be rich assholes for the rest of their lives from Hollyfield. It was not a prestigious school, nor were they a party central. But when they partied, they partied hard.

It was then that Jacob returned, handing a letter to Neru before dashing off. Woodstock blinked, then put a stance that seemed to say 'What about me, bro?!' As if to answer the stance, the thrown letter whapped him right in the face. Woodstock took the letter, looking at it. His pen pal wrote him back...wut? He looked to the classroom, then the letter, then shrugged. Ah, well.

He stuffed it into a side pocket with the intention of reading it later, perhaps after study hall. Noting that Neru's backpack was open and ready to vomit all its contents onto the floor, he quickly zipped the bag up, then 'asked' again, 'So...Saturday. Party. Yes/no?

'Sweet! Wanna go to a party?University of Down-the-Street's Alpha Pi Omega frat is paying me to DJ!' Neru looked at DJ and smiled.

She laughed as a piece of paper fly by and smack him in the face. "Hahaha! Nice shot, Jacob!" she yelled down the hall. Her bag, open as it was, was about to spew until DJ zipped it up for her.

"Thanks." He then 'asked' her again, 'So...Saturday. Party. Yes/no?' Neru looked up while she walked, pretending to think. "You seriously should know my answer by now..." She punched his arm and answered back to him. "Sure, I'll go. Want me to come by your place, then we'll go together?"

'Too bad I'll be missing my prime time anime... At least I'll get to hang out with him.'

Woodstock smiled and rubbed his punched arm. 'Sounds good to me.' As they approached the door to their study hall, Woodstock stopped, rubbing his chin in thought. 'Think I'm gonna skip out and "head to the library".' "Head to the library" was common to refer to gaining a pass to exit the class and heading to some other location, or to actually go to the library. In either case, the location picked would have been quiet and the perfect place for naps, contemplation, or, God forbid, homework.

Woodstock entered the classroom, but rather than sit down in his assigned desk, he walked up to the teacher, who was in serious need of a refill of coffee. A student was making their way back from the desk, their request for a pass withheld until further notice. Woodstock gave a silent nod to the teacher quietly placed his passbook on the desk, the pass asking to head to the library. It was followed by a small thermos of hot coffee. It seemed the student and teacher had a bit of an understanding--the silence and shady glances would almost make it seem as if it were a drug deal. The old man grumbled something in return, but it was presumably positive as he initialed the pass and handed it back, other hand accepting the offer of the thermos.

Woodstock may not have been popular, but he knew how to make and keep connections.

Woodstock turned to Neru, recovering his wipeboard. You coming with?

Neru looked over at DJ and sighed. She then asked the teacher if she could accompany him to the library. When she got the pass, she met up with DJ, who was waiting patiently. While they were walking Neru asked, "So DJ, why don't you talk?" She pulled one of her ponytails in frustration. "Scratch that, why won't you talk? I mean, I've heard you beatbox once but, like, I've never actually heard your voice."

Playing with the edge of her skirt, Neru stared at the ground. 'I wonder why he doesn't talk very much...' She shook her head and smiled faintly. "You know what, never mind... I'm probably just being kinda nosy...." She flipped her hair again, and growled in frustration. 'Damn my stupid bangs...'

"So DJ, why don't you talk?" She pulled one of her ponytails in frustration. "Scratch that, why won't you talk? I mean, I've heard you beatbox once but, like, I've never actually heard your voice."

Woodstock slowed at the question, the nagging of a memory on his mind. A bad one. Nay, horrible. Most would say hellish.

"You know what, never mind... I'm probably just being kinda nosy...."

Woodstock gave a slight smile, the evil thought still nagging him. Nah, it's okay... He gave a laugh, acting as if the memory didn't bother him. 'That doesn't mean I'm gonna tell ya, though. It's my little slice of mystery.' He gave a shrug, then a devious grin, halfway between flirting and joking. 'Gotta stay sexy somehow...' Another laugh. He lead her past the library to the doors that lead to the courtyard. He took a step outside, breathing in the fresh air, realeasing it with a sigh.

But the memory still nagged.

Keeping on his mask of the slight grin, he made his way to the tree in the center of the court, which was atop a small hill, perfect for leaning against to either work or sleep. He sat down, pulling open his backpack to recover a bottle of Mike's Hard Lemonade. He tore the cap off with simple leverage against the fork in a branch, taking in a deep draught, alcohol lulling away the memory, slowly. He took out another bottle, offering it to Neru, as if to ask, 'Want one?'

Neru sat under the tree with DJ, watching the cloudless sky. From the corner of her eye, she saw him pull out another bottle of the alcoholic lemonade. He offered it to her, as if asking if she wanted it. Still smiling faintly, she took it and popped the lid open. "Thanks..." Taking a swig, she felt a little more refreshed.

Neru started to feel slightly dizzy, and turned beet red. "You know, I've never had alcohol before..." Her eyes started to droop, and she leaned against DJ. Speaking a mix of Japanese and English, her eyes began to close slightly more. "Shikashi, arukōru is really good. I mean, sore wa nigai no yōna monodaga, I like it..."

She leaned further in closer to DJ, letting her head fall into his lap. Finally closing her eyes, Neru fell asleep in his lap, snoring lightly.

Woodstock gave a nod of welcome as she took the bottle, watching the sky. The sky was peaceful, a small shred of cotton fluff crossing the blue occasionally. He stared at the clouds, trying to conceive shapes from them. One looked like a pirate ship, and he imagined as the imaginary Captain Fluffbeard braved the ocean of oxygen, leading his band of airheaded scalawags. He turned to Neru to point the cloud out, his thought dropping when he saw the dizziness in the reddened face.

"You know, I've never had alcohol before..."

Woodstock facepalmed. Fantastic. She had zero-to-none alcohol tolerance. Cripes. His prediction of her undoubted drunkiness was confirmed as she continued to speak, mixing together her native Japanese with the tongue of English.

"Shikashi, arukōru is really good. I mean, sore wa nigai no yōna monodaga, I like it..."

He didn't understand all of it, but he got the jist of the sentence. She liked the Mike. She sure as hell couldn't handle it, although he gave her kudos that she didn't puke. She just got drowsy and incoherent...and decided that his lap would make a nice enough pillow. As she lay upon him, an instant flush of red arose to Woodstock's face, unsure of what to do. He looked around; no one else was in the courtyard. He looked to the pretty head upon his lap, relaxing some. He just focused on breathing on drinking, lest the semi-awkward position warrant any more unwanted memories to surge.

Three bottles of Mike's--including the rest of Neru's--and a half-hour later, Woodstock looked at the time to see that the period was almost over. He nudged Neru until she woke, holding up two fingers, as if asking, 'How many fingers?' He was testing to see if the buzz had wore off or not.

Neru felt content in DJ's lap. She felt a nudge come from nowhere, and she opened her eyes. Rubbing them, she looked at him, then at his fingers. She looked at him again, her face still slightly red. Most of her buzz had worn off, and she focused on his fingers. "Umm, two... Wait, what time is it..?"

Standing up, Neru smoothed down her skirt. "Ahh, You know what..." Shifting her weight onto her left leg, she stared him hard in the face. "Your headphones almost remind me of Kagamine Len." She put her hand up to her face and giggled, as if she were a Japanese school girl again. "Anata ga kawaī yo, DJ-kun."

She wobbled on her legs and held onto DJ's shoulder. 'I probably look like a total, drunken idiot now!' Steadying herself, she stood up straight, still holding onto him. 'I wonder if he understood what I said....'

Neru seemed to be better, but it was obvious that she was still a little buzzed. Christ...she couldn't go to class like this. The total effects of alcohol would take a while to disappear. And she could barely stand. While he didn't understand what she said, his Japanese comprehension at zero, he gave a slight blush nonetheless at her giggle. He willingly helped her walk, putting an arm around her waist to help steady her. Yeah...walking, though she tried to play it off, would be a tad difficult.

He led her out of the courtyard, his mind buzzing for a solution to their little problem. He thought about her symptoms...wait, they all looked like the start of the flu...aha! With an inspiration of thought, he headed to the nurse's office, relieved to see that the new nurse's assistaint was in. The older lady, while kind, would have seen right through his lies. Sitting her down on a chair, Woodstock gave a look that spoke 'Just go with it.' He then turned to the nurse, taking out his wipeboard and marker. 'Nurse, I think my friend may have the beginnings of the flu. She hurts, making it hard to walk, and she seems a bit hot.'

The nurse gave a small gasp. "Flu? Oh dear..." She made her way over to Neru, giving her a quick examination. "Well, her symptoms don't seem too bad, but if she does have the flu, it will only get worse." She wrote out a note, excusing Neru for the day. "I'll call her parents..."

Woodstock fumbled with his board a moment before quickly writing out an excuse. 'I don't know if that's the best idea...Neru's parents both work quite a ways away.' He thought a moment before writing out 'I can take her to my home and watch her for a while. I'll contact her parents to let them know what's going on.'

Normally, a nurse would put two and two together to realize that Woodstock's form of communication was a bit hard to communicate with. Luckily, though, this nurse was a bit of a ditz and worried more about getting this possibly sick student out of the school, lest she make any others sick. "Alright, fair enough." She wrote a second note for Woodstock, excusing him as well for the day. "Just let me know tomorrow how things go."

Woodstock gave a nod before helping Neru back out of the chair, leading her to the parking lot. Once free of the evil confines of school, he gave Neru a grin. 'Score.'

Neru opened and closed her eyes for a while. When she realized that she was no longer in the school building, she looked at DJ. "DJ, I'm a little tired... Do we still have to go to class?" Nodding her head on her chest, she tried to walk as much as she could.

'Great, I'm tipsy, and I'm going home with DJ.... Wait... I'm going home with DJ?!' Her head shot up from the realization, and her neck started to hurt. "Itai yo!!" She shouted from the pain in her neck, and put her hand on it. 'Damn, I pulled that muscle again....' Neru kept her hand on her neck for a while, massaging it the way her mom taught her.

The pain was starting to go away, but slowly. Although the pain was going away, the buzz didn't. Still red at the cheeks, Neru held tightly onto DJ's arm. 'Don't fall, don't fall, don't fall,' she chanted in her head. She sighed and closed her eyes. "Hey, where are we going?"

Woodstock, as per usual, said nothing, pointing to a white Toyota Corolla. The car was nothing impressive, and there were several dents, marks, and even a few bulletholes in the white exterior. He manually unlocked the vehicle with his key, helping Neru in the passenger's side, buckling her in. He then hopped and slid across the hood to get to the drivers side, simultaneously jamming the key in the ignition, turning it, and slamming his door shut. The car whined for a few moments, threatening not to start, before deciding to grace Woodstock with an easy drive. He smiled and pet the dashboard, and one could imagine him saying 'Atta girl...' He then made his way out of the parking lot, turning on the main road home.

He set the wipeboard up so that he could write it while he drove, where Neru could read it. 'We're going to my house. There is no way in HELL your parents would be okay with this.' As he drove, he approached his favorite part of the drive: Hollyfield Prep. The rival schools just so happened to be connected by the same road, which made flipping the bird at the building all the more satisfactory. Which was what Woodstock did. He rolled down his window, sticking the offensive finger at the school building.

He looked back to the road in time to see that someone was pulling right in front of him. With a new car, with nice tires and brakes, he may have stopped in time to avoid an accident. But this was not a new car. The tires, which were well worn, skidded against the asphalt, hitting the car nevertheless. Luckily, he had braked enough to minimize damage; all that had been done was a fair dent in both vehicles.

But inside the car was where things were more interesting. Woodstock had slammed on the brakes, but also turned the car so that, God forbid, it did not halt where it did, the damage would come to him. At the same time, his arm shot out before Neru's chest, bracing Neru to her seat so that in that same incident she did not fly out of the window. Once both cars stopped, Woodstock sat where he was, eyes glazed with a memory, his body shuddering and sweating, but otherwise unmoving. His breathing was abnormally deep and staggered, as if he had no air to breath, the breath being squeezed out of him by some unseen demon.

Neru jolted a bit in her seat, and her eyes flashed open. Her vision was blurry, and all she could see was a silhouette of DJ. She felt his arm on her chest, hearing him breathe hard. "...DJ.... Are you okay?" She unbuckled her seat-belt, and went over to his side. 'This doesn't look too good...' She pinched his cheek to try to get him under control.

Her buzz went away more, although her cheeks were still red. "DJ...! C'mon!" Neru slapped him in the face with a small amount of force. "Snap out of it man!" 'Geez... I really have to worry about this guy....'

The slap was exactly what Woodstock needed. It snapped him out of whatever demon held its grip on him, he rubbing the slightly red cheek. He gave an exhale, steadying his breathing, giving a nod of thanks to Neru. He saw that a woman was on the ground, and a man was helping her. They seemed to be both rich pricks, both with their nice cars running, he holding her. He gave a groan as he rubbed his temples.

'Christ.'

This was bad. He didn't have insurance. He didn't have a lawyer. He couldn't have blood on his hands. A look of seriousness unlike anything seen prior overcame Woodstock. He made the motion for Neru to stay in the car. 'Stay here.' He then took his wipeboard and ran out to the woman, coming to his knees as he came to her side. He checked her pulse, put the back of his hand to her forehead, listened to her breathing. If either of them said anything, he simply pointed to his wipeboard, which read:

'Rich pricks or not, you're still human. You have a life to live.'

As soon as he ran over, he left, knowing full well what was wrong. She was overheating; heatstroke. She didn't have water in her system, and the beating sun in the middle of the road was killing her, her body beginning to lose its ability to maintain its heat. He ran to the woman's car, turning on the AC and cranking it high. He then ran back to the woman, yanking her out of the man's arms, and carried her bridal-style to the car, seating her in the vehicle and shutting the door. He then snatched his wipeboard up again.

'Heatstroke. Needs to cool down. Needs water. Sip, not chug. Call ambulance in case.'

Woodstock gave a small 'Hmph', erasing the message and writing a new one

'No need to thank me. Just being your average underdog.'

With that, he walked back to the car, slamming the door, taking a moment to breathe. He looked to Neru.

'Well, I think that went well, how about you?'
