✖Physical Description✖:
”Staying the same for long becomes a little boring.”
Steel can be idyllically described as being a prime example of the half-breed nature of those born on the border of Elven and Human cultures. She is possessed of a body which could be described as lithe upon first glance but appears much stockier, as well as having rather smooth white skin considering that her trade has given her rather tough and calloused hands by comparison. Her skin is pale and contrasts somewhat with her golden short and spiky hair, punctuated by a few braids that hang down past her shoulders and plaits here and there across her head. While her hair is usually kept just down to her neck she sometimes lets the braids go further and colours parts of her hair with streaks of bright contrasting colours, and the more that have appeared since the day before the more bored she’s clearly been. She stands somewhat average in height at 5’ 3” and weighs around 105lbs.

✖ Birthmark/Piercing/Tattoo/Scar/Noticeable Features ✖:
”Not all scars run skin deep, but maybe it’s the ones you can’t see that make us beautiful”
Amelia has a few scars on each cheek, faint triangular cuts likely made from a knife of some sort. Her ears contain a few piercings of different shapes and sizes from one or two rings to small perfectly cut gemstones which sparkle when she smiles. Her eyes are bright and a faint lilac in colour, though with a sprinkling of silver around the edges. Also as mentioned above she has a habit of dying her hair colour randomly when bored and can sometimes come out with rather outlandish colours. She has a few intricate tattoos around her hip as well as a few elsewhere, including her upper back.

✖ Physical Evaluation ✖:
”Picture of health I am.”
WIP

Image
✖ Former Residence ✖:
”Less said about where I comes from the better.”
N/A

✖ Family/Relatives ✖:
”Aye, canny they were. Me folks, can’t fault em for being who they were.”
Mother was a haughty elf with a love of magic and her father was a dabbler in all thinks mechanical.

✖ Friends/Comrades ✖:
”If you can’t walk, you crawl. And If you can’t do that, well you know.”
Steel has a friend in almost every port, either in the local pub or the smithy depending on the port.

✖ Enemies ✖:
”Enemies? What could they possibly want with little ol’ Me?”
Despite her moderate fame within the various engineering societies across the world she has rarely managed to cultivate any active enemies.

✖ Rivals ✖:
”I’ve certainly had a few try to outdo me, ain’t seen one manage it.”
She’s got a bit of a reputation when it comes to tinkering and improving on existing designs, and has been on the move pretty much all of her life to make it harder for people to copy her work, at least before she’s pocketed the credit for it.

✖ Organisations/Tribes/Clans ✖:
”They’re a bunch of stuffy idiots in comfy armchairs. I got myself one and I can see the appeal.”
Engineering Guilds in a few major cities have her penned as a member, as do the Guild of Cunning Artificers.

✖ Former Affiliations ✖:
”I gets about so I does, but I don’t stay too long usually.”
N/A

Image
✖ Personality ✖:
”People always confuse personality with character, forgetting that a difference exists.”
Steel can at best be described as somewhat distracted and at worst as a disinterested and antagonistic inventor. She is usually quite jovial and warm, inviting others for a drink and more but when she’s interested in something and ideas are forming she’d probably gut anyone who came between her and focusing on said ideas.

✖ Psychological Evaluation ✖:
”Words”
WIP

✖ Skills ✖:

”Sometimes you’re better off not knowing everything.”
Who, and what she really is.
Her actual age.
Her birth name.

Image
✖ Racial ✖:
”Can you keep a secret? Good, cause so can I.”
Changeling - A creature known as the halfbreed offspring of Doppelgängers, changelings are viewed with a similar distrust and hate as their equally rare parentage. Despite having become a race in their own right rather than simply the result of true shapeshifters and humans they are still rare to the point that they can be viewed as perhaps one in a million, literally. They are able to alter their appearance perfectly, though it takes a great deal of practise and study in order to mimic others so they often develop their own persona’s unlike Doppelgängers who can read people’s thoughts and imitate them without fault. Due to this connection the rare shapeshifters are seen as a threat to almost every government or holding across the world and any who are discovered tend to be dealt with swiftly and harshly, similarly so with Changelings despite their complete lack of interest in politics whatsoever. As such Steel has created a plethora of personas to protect herself and remains Amelia because she is safe and her true nature unknown to the others, and has kept her true name secret.

✖ Equipment ✖:
”A good set of tools are a girl’s best friend. And your worst enemy.”
Attire
Amelia is often seen wearing hardwearing leather armour, sometimes revealing and others not so much. But when in the engine room she tends to opt for a little thicker protection more often than not. She wears a pair of green tinted goggles either on her head or around her neck as well. Also owns a top hat for when she wants to go over the top to annoy people. She often has a pencil tucked behind one ear so she can better note ideas that occur to her on the go. Over her clothes she tends to wear a long and rather ornate leather trench coat with reinforced padding to protect against incoming projectiles and fire, it also contains a multitude of pockets and such for mechanisms and weapons including a couple of extradimensional spaces.

Protection
While her armour is toughened to protect her she has still engraved it and her weapons with runes of protection against fire and the like in order to ensure her safety should all hell break loose in her domain.

Weapons
Longsword and knife - She keeps a mithril longsword strapped across her back most of the time with a few runes cut into the metal, a twin knife to this blade hangs at her hip.
Crossbow - Amelia has a small hand loaded light crossbow that she keeps to hand should she need it.
Staffs, Wands and other toys - When on the move she’ll strap a quiver filled with a selection of magical and technological weapons ranging from one shot bombs or guns to staves of magical spells that she’s made herself for such situations and her workshop is littered with various half-finished projects.

✖ History ✖:
”Not everyone’s life is an open book, and even then some books shut mighty hard.”
The engineer of the Phoenix has plenty of stories of her life before joining the crew, some sounding a little tall when first heard but after a while her actions tend to sway doubters of her prowess. With feats such as membership in mechanist guilds and gatherings from one side of the world to the other that very few could ever manage she has become somewhat of a mystery to many who’ve wanted to work with her, with some titles and honours passing down from past members who’ve seen something special in the girl.
A member of the crew for a good long while now, almost as long as the captain himself she’s pretty much replaced every inch of their little ship at least once or twice. And will fight anyone who dares say a bad word against the Phoenix.

So begins...

The whistling sound of the wind rushing along the underside of the ship was almost soothing; though the wind itself was starting to leave her face feeling a little cold. Shaking her head a little she reached up and slackened the rope on the pulley she’d rigged up to better position herself on the underside of the ship. Her ironshod boots were secured against the planks on the underside of the ship so she was walking right way up, or at least right way up for her which was exactly the opposite of everyone on the ship at that moment.

”Why is it always me who ends up hanging upside down under the bloody decks…”

Her hair was being wiped around by the wind and her clothing was billowing out in the wind somewhat as would many of the items in her clothing as it all fell away into the cloud filled sky below if it wasn’t for her precautions and clasps keeping everything in its proper place. Her words however were mostly being lost in the howling gale, which didn’t matter to her as she much preferred to vent her irritations where the others or herself could barely make sense of them. And much easier to do so down here than over an exploding boiler or furnace, or at the very least preferable to it and far less dangerous or life threatening.

”Oh yeah, I remember. I wouldn’t trust them to know the difference between a pair of pliers and a screwdriver.”

Chuckling a little to herself she reached down and carefully removed a section of the decking and disconnected a valve which maintained one of the overflow tank gauges from inside the ship and replaced it with a working copy that hadn’t been crushed during an altercation. Hopefully the newer one would last a little longer this tip. The offshoot valves for excess steam from the secondary boiler had been causing trouble for a few weeks now and while the system was only in place in case other failsafe’s didn’t kick in it still bothered her that it wasn’t there just in case; even though she knew the others prior too it had been in working order. Once certain the valve was back in order she pocketed the old one and gave the decking one final kick and checked the seals to ensure it was in place. Satisfied with the repair she carefully manoeuvred her way back across the underside and swung up on the pulley, her hands grabbing onto the rope ladder connected to it on the starboard side of the ship.

”Grand.”

She declared to herself as she landed with a heavy thunk onto the deck and methodically hauled all of the equipment back up and uncoupled the mechanism from the side hang. Once she’d bundled it all up she dropped it into its leather bag and sealed it up, carefully tying the knots and such before picking it up and throwing it over her shoulder. Her free hand reached down to grab her rather long wrench, which was in all honesty a bit of a jack-of-all-trades mechanism she’d invented to best deal with her day to day problems. This had resulted in a weapon, stroke tool that could switch in as a hammer or any manner of other odds and ends for the most part. After all the best engineers were those that sat astride the bounty between science and magic and said why the hell not dabble in both; she felt that engineering needed a little of both anyhow, mixed in with a whole lot of luck.

Whistling softly to herself she sauntered below decks, her hips swinging in time with the tune as she gently bopped the wrench off her shoulder ever so often. The corridors below seemed to be ringing with shouting and rants coming from the direction of the captain’s cabin and she couldn’t help but smile when she saw more people heading in that direction and the distinct sound of the cook could be heard above all.

Shaking her head she carried on towards the rear of the ship, putting her shoulder into it to open the heavyset door she entered her own chamber. It served as an atrium into the larger engine room beyond and ensured that none of the crew set foot, or paw in the case of some, where they could cause trouble. The door beyond that led into the engine was even thicker and hardier than the one to her own room, which could take a few direct hits from a cannon at the best of times. Carefully sealing her own door first she made sure the mechanisms locked into place before opening the second, another precaution in case of fire or explosion to stop it spreading throughout the heart of the Phoenix. As much as the myth may hold true she didn’t exactly want fire burning them all alive.

Once in the engine room proper she started setting down her tools and sorting the equipment away into the pigeon holes lined up against one wall. Satisfied that everything was in place she picked up the wrench again she smiled and, twirling the long handled weapon around her wrist, she stalked through the room toward the fire breathing monstrosity at its heart. The Engine itself, linked to boilers throughout the ship that provided hot water when needed and helped to fuel the substantial forge that stood just to the side of the furnace itself. After all what use was all the raw potential without a smithy to harness its power. Resting her wrench against the far wall she climbed up the heap of ruined and half-finished mechanisms to flop down into her hammock which was strung in the corner of the warm and almost throbbing room, like a living heart.

”Time for wee bit of a kip.”

She muttered to herself, her head nestled gently against her pillow. Her eyes flickered once over to the horn fixed into the wall near the ceiling that linked in with the rest of her makeshift “can on a string” communication system that ran throughout the decks of the ship. Not massively effective but it got the job done for the most part even if it was just a rather echoing screech to say her attention was needed.

"hmmph" was Alex's only response to the Capt.'s display of authority, She hadn't expected everyone to show up, and hear her shouting. Looking around her eyes rested on Sebastian.

"Thanks Sebby, I'll get to work prepping it right away." as she stalked out of the the Captains quarters she patted the top of Markel's head and leaned in to whisper to him. "You got a good teacher there lad, learn well from him" she said and smiled at him.

Once she was back on the deck and out of earshot she burst into laughter. "Oh Cany, good show good show!." she whispered to herself. I have to apologize to him now, no one was supposed to show up. she thought to herself.

Walking into the kitchen she went through the supplies in the bag Sebby gave her. "Oooh A little spice!" she shouted happily. She sat down and snapped her fingers watching as everything was removed from the bag and being prepped. "Ah the joys of magic!" She then propped her feet up and began singing a soft tune smiling all the while. She poked her stomach, she didn't even feel the hunger anymore. She figured so everyone could have a little more she would share her portion with everyone. She had been doing it for the past 4 days but she wouldn't tell anyone that. She loved her crew and was willing to sacrifice her happiness for theirs.

She flicked her ears, waiting for when everyone was out of the Capt.s cabin. She wanted to apologize but she didn't want anyone there when she did so. Seeing as everything was prepped she decided to make it into three meals instead of one, so as the crew had food throughout the day instead of one meal. As she cooked she thought, about her past and how far she had come. "At least from that experience I know how to take a little and make a lot.

Once the first meal was done, though she used her magic to get it done fast, she divided it out and put the bowls on the platter. She first went to the door to the engine room and placed the bowl on the shelf she had installed for Amelia and picked up her communication horn, "Am Am,your food is out here" she then went to Blue's room to discover that Selitos was there to. "Well here you guys go, pork stew. Odd to see you here Seli." whistling she place their bowls on a shelf that wasn't covered in maps and continued on. Opening Varsh's room she wrinkled her nose "If I didn't know any better I would say you were a Pirate drinking this early!" then she placed his food on his small desk. The last person she visited below deck was Rela Kaz. "Here Kazie! your portion." she said and whisked to the top deck, she had seen Elwise waiting and Aurea pacing, "Here guys meal in done." Then she sighed and entered the Capt.s cabin once more. "Here ya go Sebby, Mitsie, young Markie, and Capt." she set his bowl on his desk. Tucking the now empty platter under her arm she smiled. "Breakfast is served, enjoy." she went back to her room to lay down.

Markel watched angrily as Alex twitched, other cats around him being angry made him bristle out of instinct more than out of choice. Then people stumbled in one by one. . .The Captain began addressing them. . . He mentioned something about only Hell beneath those clouds. Then he wondered maybe there were cloud-maidens! Lusty elementals. . .

Cpt. Vraas stood on the plank of the enemy ship, his lover Ginger had been slain. Overall it had been a shitastic day for Markel. A voice called out to him.

"I hope ye can fly kitty."

Then a strong force shoved from behind Markel shoving him into the blueness of the sky. Falling crazily without a struggle down through the skies. Clouds around him seemed to move. Faces in the clouds formed, lovely maids made from pure cloud. They wrapped their slender arms around his furry neck and floated him up into a cloud-haven full of maidens. All of them were swaddling him close to their bosom, making him feel warm even though they are only made of cloud.

"So. . . Brave. . . "

The maids whispered softly in his sensitive ears. Causing him to fidget. He was about to kiss one of them when . . .

"Markel, go fetch Blue; I have many things to discuss with her."

Cpt. Caintry's voice spoke to him, then Alex patted his head causing him to tense up, she was pretty and she was close to being like him. if only she wasn't loud. With a curt nod and grabbing up the bowl of food Alex made Markel rushed out of there and up to the navigation room. Once inside the navigation room he noted Selitos was in there. Miss Blue was so very beautiful . . . Shaking his head he saluted and spoke in his lighter voice.

"Cap'n wishes you to go an' see 'em in his quarters Madam."

Markel tried to speak properly but whenever he got nervous his English worsened by a lot. She made him quite flustered, even though he knew he had no chance in Hell with a woman like her, he still found her so lovely. . . He found himself in a daze looking at her, it probably showed. Then he snapped out of it and waited for her answer. Looking down at the paws that he used as feet.

Varsh's drunken revelry ended with the entering of the cook with a bowl of food whose scent triggered a ravenous hunger that had been hiding. At the end of Alexandria's comment he responded with "Nothing else to do on this ship. Might as well drink to pass time." His words were slurred, and he tottered over to the desk, slamming his bulk into the seat and quickly snatching up the bowl, devouring the food within a matter of a minute or three. Then, he decided to leave his cabin to get some air. Moving onto the deck, he quickly breathed in a few breaths of the clean fresh air of the open sky. The drunken haze with which he viewed everything faded somewhat, and he decided to visit the captain to see about when they were going to get to kill something.

He knocked on the door frame (Missing the door) and then moved in. Varsh made it to the captain's desk and said "Captain. When we going to fight something? My blade thirsts for blood! I need battle! This endless sailing grows dull fast!" As he spoke, a huge waft of alcohol stained breath hit the captain directly in the face..

As Sebastian was handed the stew by Alexandria, he observed the others as he began to consume. The Captain was going to put forward a vote for where to land. One that really only had one logical conclusion, yet this was not a ship filled with logical persons. It was filled with emotion driven folk who based all decisions on what they were either feeling immediately or had strongly felt in the past. He lifted the spoon to his artificial mouth a third time, only for it to drop to the floor due to a jerked finger. His finger then went limp along with his thumb. It must have been a wire that fried. He set his hardly touched bowl of stew down and set off to see Amelia.

The engineer deck was as steaming and loud as it was expected to be. He wandered over to where he would think the engineer may be. Bed. Indeed he was correct when he found her in her hammock.

"Nova!" He spoke loudly. "I need some help with my arm, I think some wiring got fried when I was working with a battery earlier today." He told her.

Mitsuhide heard all that was said and noted the changing tones in Caintry 's voice, how gentle he was when addressing him. It struck him as odd but if something was amiss he knew Captain Osborne would tell him sooner or later. Upon receiving his orders, Mitsuhide bowed but before he exited Alexandria entered with a bowl for him. Mitsuhide was not hungry, his appetite had been ruined simply because of the day it was and what had occurred on this day so long ago. However he thought it rude to decline the food and so he bowed and accepted it. "Thank you."  He said plainly before exiting and going below decks to muster everyone on the Deck for his announcement, but not before dropping off the food in his own room.

Much like the captain, Mitsuhide's room had a "can on a string" comms system. It was not very clear, he honestly preferred to go door to door, knocking, and to search the ship but despite this, he wanted this all to be done quickly so he could return to mourning the memory of those he had lost.

"All hands, all hands, this is the First Mate speaking. Report to the Deck at once for an important announcement from your captain. I say again report to the deck for an important announcement from your captain.".

He spoke loud and clear but knew that it would still be come out as if he had his hand over his mouth. With that he exitted, not even looking at the food he had been given and stood at the deck, ready to give clear instructions to anyone who came up to the deck, and ready to go and fetch anyone who paid no heed to that obnoxious horn in their mind. As he waited he decided to remove the hair pin from his katana 's guard and just stood there at a daze for a few moments, the sorrow showing on his face momentarily before he came to and collected himself.

Amelia had just about nodded off to sleep when there the echoing voice of the ships cook came in from the horn, signalling that food was ready. Rolling over in the hammock she grumbled a little to herself and ran her fingers through her mess of hair before staring a little blearily around the room. The creaking and clicking of the door into her chamber locking in place and the engine room one swinging inwards caused her to blink the last vestiges of sleepiness from her eyes and focus on the new arrival in her domain. His voice louder than needed and causing her to start a little.

"Nova! I need some help with my arm; I think some wiring got fried when I was working with a battery earlier today."

”Ya divena need to shout! I’d offer you a brew but I just been about to get some shuteye till you woke me.”

She chuckled a little, her voice somewhat annoyed but friendly all the same as she hopped down, still wearing her clothes and most importantly her boots which made a resounding thud on the reinforced metal and oak flooring. The engine room itself was both an unstable concoction of forces all vying for control over the others, and into this Amelia had added even more and built a forge in the middle of it all to top off the madness. So she’d made sure to add additional layers of protection from the outside world so that very little could actually dent the walls let alone pierce them, resulting in making sure the ship wasn’t in any danger from within but that didn’t always extend to without. She shook her head a little and walked over to one of the benches around the edge of the room and cleared some of the mechanisms in progress to the side before turning and beckoning Sebastian over to her. Turning back to the bench she reached into a drawer and pulled out a small box containing several small tools for finer work than some of her heavily implements. Each of them was made of mithril, with one or two having gemstones tapering to a point for their tip. Shaking her head she made him sit next to the bench and laid his arm out on the wooden surface. She carefully inserted one of the tools into the skin and drew a line from wrist to elbow in the inside of the arms curve before lifting up the skin itself to have a better look at the inner working. She quickly reached over and picked up her goggles, which were rarely off her head but she’d thrown them to one side after getting in from working under the ship.

”Seb, you’ve managed to ruin half the wires in your forearm. What exactly were you fiddling with to cause this, must have been a mighty battery. Since your skin isn’t that conductive from what I remember.”

She raised her eyebrow slightly before looking down and continuing her work, setting down the first tool and picking up one of the ones with a ruby set into the point and gently squeezed it. The tip sparked and burst into flame for a moment before dying down to a fine prick of light which she ran along the artificial tendons that had been ruined and began to weld them back together and disconnect those she couldn’t repair. After removing the damaged ones she reached up and opened one of the drawers set against the wall behind the bench and pulled out a wheel of thinly spun gold wiring. She slowly unwound small lengths and cut them to size before inserting them into the forearm and once satisfied that the new wiring was in place and firmly connected she picked up one of the sharper implements and prodded Sebastian’s fingers and palm to make sure there was feeling and movement again.

”Perfect. And seeing as I’m awake I might as well go get me serving of broth that our cook graciously decided to wake me up for. Moments before you did much the same I might add.”

She carefully placed each of the tools away within the box before slotting it back into one of the many drawers. Standing up she stretched and yawned a bit and lifted her goggles up to rest on her forehead before shivering a little from the yawn.

”Up and at em lad, haven’t got all day. Don’t want people to start talking about a fine gentleman in a woman’s room, do we?”

She gestured towards the still open door with one hand, grinning a little at her joke for a moment before walking over to her coat and pulling it on. Rubbing her eyes a little as sleep was beckoning, which initiated another yawn as she reached down to pick up her wrench to sling it across her back. After ushering the quartermaster out of first the engine room then her quarters she walked towards her food, feeling a faint grumble in her stomach as she entered the galley. Just as her fingers reached for the bowl she groaned a little as the echoing voice of the first mate filled the room, requesting all hands for the captain’s attention. Grumbling a little she picked up the bowl Alex had left on the side for her and grabbed a few slices of crusty bread.

With all in hand she walked up stairs onto the beam of the ship itself and sat, cross-legged on the starboard bulwark with her food in hand and began to munch down the food while waiting for the others to make their arrival known. She wondered a little if this would be related to their destination, and if they actually had one. She could probably keep them flying for a good while yet but nothing lasted forever and a few parts of the ship needed work that even she couldn’t replicate without the proper material. She became somewhat lost in both her food and mental calculations of what materials were still available and what could be turned to fuel if all else failed while she waited on the stragglers to arrive.

”Seb, you've managed to ruin half the wires in your forearm. What exactly were you fiddling with to cause this, must have been a mighty battery. Since your skin isn't that conductive from what I remember.” Sebastian smirked. The battery burst while he was patching it up, splattering acid onto his forearm. He had thought that it was fine, but as it turned out, it wasn't. He messed around with his arm after Amelia left, until he heard noise above deck. He thought it be a good idea to check that out.

When he came to the top deck, the bright sun glared into his lenses. He tapped out his current lenses for new ones that adjusted to the light almost immediately. Nearly the entire ships inhabitants were there, were with the exception of the rats. They were going to vote. A vote that could, rather would determine whether or not they would survive another voyage or die at sky. He walked over to the edge of the ship and leaned against the wall, waiting for the vote to start.

"Oh, one more thing. Please promise the crew will be kept safe?"

The question caught on Caintry as he prepared to leave, stalling him halfway through the door, for he did not know if he could promise that. In the many years he has spent on this planet, he has seen many die, and he remembered one of the many times as his memories came flooding in.

“Come boy! Do you want to live or not?” The man, his former captain, was tall and rough, towering over the younger Caintry who was shorter and skinnier, and his voice was a booming coarse shock wave that could cause even the most iron-statured man to shudder. All around them, the smuggling ship burned into an inferno, the screaming of several men and some women in complete agony shot through the fires, and sweat bulleted down both of their faces, drenching their shirts. Suddenly, like demons appearing out of a void beyond scorches in existence, twelve or so pirates swung onto the deck, swords and smug looks drawn to the ready, and the captain drew his own saber in a screeching scraping of metal against metal.

“Which one of yer wants to be sent to the Hell beneath the Skies first?” he shouted with the confidence of a charging bear, but he turned round with a concerned look to Caintry for an aside.

He softly spoke, “Run and get cover boy, I still need a legacy.” Caintry’s boyish heart sank as he realized the meaning of those words. Out of nowhere, the first pirate lunged and-

Caintry turned to reality once again as the soft sobs of Alexandria brought him back, and he thought what curious creatures Nekos are, one minute mad, then energetic, then apologetic, and finally sad. He thought of his past, and finally decided he could not promise something he could not keep. So, with a new grimace on old wounds, he turned without a word heavily to begin the vote, and he finally reached the above deck. Examining the grounds, he saw Varsh about to begin telling Markel a story, and he sighed for his concern that that man might bring down Markel’s intellect down to his own level. He strode over properly as a captain should.

“Varsh, we all do so indeed enjoy your tales, but Markel must take my side.” he turned to Mitsuhide, “As well as you First Mate.” He spoke friendly to both, and he walked up top the upper-deck so he could look down onto all the others and be heard by all, expecting the two to follow.

“Attention! As all of you can clearly see, we are in dire need of land, sooner rather than later. So, we have two possible courses, Perodo and Paradiso, and you no doubt have knowledge of these places already and pre-existing opinion. Since I am from Denauc, I am familiar with the notion of Democracy, so I will rule as my forefathers did! Let me hear your voice and your opinions! I will listen!” He spoke powerful, unusual to his usual formal and genteel voice, but as captain he has his duties, even if his duty was rabble-rousing.

As he looked at his crew, he thought At least I love my rabble, so he waited eagerly for their opinions.

Rel'Kaz Del Va Hiim

Rel'Kaz watched as Guldor approached Mitsuhide, and he cringed inwardly at the blatant show of disrespect. If he had been the First Mate, he'd have given warning to him. Still, he approved as the first mate turned on his heel and nearly hit the Advisor with his sheathed sword. He stepped back and put his back against the railing the covered the edge of the ship, except for the spot where the crew would embark and disembark. He watched as Guldor stormed towards the Captain's cabin as Varsh was lead out by the cabin boy, Markel. He smiled inwardly as the difference in stature between the two was amusing to him. As the rest of the crew gathered out onto the deck, he surveyed them. Then Caintry came out onto deck and made his speech. He had heard of these islands before, having traveled to both once in the two years he's been a fugitive from the Alazari Empire. He knew which he would choose out of the two choices he had.

"I say we head for Perodo. As I have told most of you before, I have a bounty on my head, and none of you have tried to kill or capture me yet, so I assume you will not try to do so in the future. As to my knowledge, Paradiso is a island full of the scum of the skies, no offence intended if you think differently, and no doubt a place where prospective hunters will find it rather easy to catch their prey. That is all I have to say."

(OOC: Rel'Kaz has given a fake reason to the crew as to why he has a bounty on his head, since the Alazari Empire did not send posters and flyers around, rather they had picked the bounty hunters, so you can bet your prized possessions that they're good at their job. Rumors have been floating about though, so even people who haven't been called by the Alazari Empire may know a little about the bounty's details. If we do end up heading to Paradiso, then if any characters that wish to know more may want to inquire about this. In character of course.)

Varsh was about to launch into his story telling voice when the captain came by and just snagged his audience. Grumbling Varsh walked closer to the upper deck to better listen to the captain, who gave a speech requesting the crew's vote. First the gunner called his vote out, stating his reasoning for wishing to avoid Paradiso. Thinking about it, he decided that Perodo seemed the greater chance for adventure, seeing that a colony had gone dark, meaning that something had made it go dark. Something he could engage with his blade. Thus, he took a step forward and called out "Captain! I vote we make way for Perodo! My blade thirsts for battle, and it seems we will get the most of that from Perodo!" his voice boomed. He then stepped back to wait and see what the others had to say.

A couple of the crew had already spoken their views while Amelia had continued to slowly eat her broth, mulling over their words and the options presented by Caintry.

”I diven’t hear you asking about the state of wor fuel, since we worse off without that than a bit of ammunition, but I wouldn’t expect a Tel'gothrim to know that. Nor care.”

She does her best to resist the urge to spit as she speaks the name for Drow in the native elven tongue. The dark elves as they’re known, are cowardly, devious creatures at the best of times, and somehow even haughtier than the rest of elf-kind. And reason enough for Amelia to ensure he had neither reason to nor the ability to access to her domain below deck.

”And if all else fails we could fire Varsh at any enemies and gain oursel a second vessel for the trouble, and at the very least supplies to keep on flyin’ like we be born too.”

A smile creeps across her features before she chuckles and nods towards the hulking figure of the red demon. She chuckles and looks over and up towards Caintry on the deck above, her tone turning a little grave in contrast to the light-hearted joke.

”My vote be for Paradiso capt’n, we need to resupply true enough and we might find that in Perodo, or we might not. Paradiso may be a hive of scum and villainy, filled with the worst you’d find anywhere in the skies or beyond but they’re making a living same as us. They’ll have what we need to get the ol’ girl flying straight and true again, might cost though. But it’s a safer bet than seeking blood and glory in a dark colony when we’re scrabbling for the wax under our fingernails to grease the runners on our guns. I'll keep her flying whichever way we go, the fire'll burn as long as we needs it too. I'll see we're still going awhile yet.”

Shrugging a little she leans back against some of the rigging near the bulwark and dips a bit more of the bread into her food and continues to eat, waiting to see what the others have to say for themselves.

Three votes for Perodo, one for Paradiso. The favor was with the colony, but the tide of the vote could quickly shift. Paradiso was a gamble on safety while Perodo was a gamble on part of what was even still there. Sebastian stepped forward.

"Paradiso may have everything we need, but we're more likely to get robbed or swindled there then to leave with our goods. The prices there aren't regulated so for all we know the fuel could be worth a slave. Ammunition is too low for a large fight as well. Hardly enough for five shots for each of us." He glanced across the crew for a brief moment before he continued.

"Perodo is our safest option from what we currently know. It's a trade stop so it's sure to have plenty of food and fuel. Both of which are cheap. The outpost is guarded, yet not to the point where we won't be able to trade easily. We even have the ammunition to take the town if we really wanted to."

"Now lets entertain the notion that all of the residents are dead and the town had been ransacked. May I remind you all that there are things that are not worthy of taking on a raid. Bread, salt, flour, scrap, animals, and alcohol. That's plenty of food in the town, even more on rest of the island. Alcohol can be used to fuel the ship. I also know of a smuggling route that used to pass through the colony around a century ago. It's a gamble, but the goods might still be in a den on the island."

"Perodo! That's where my vote goes." He announced to rest of the crew.

Alexandria brushed away her tears and fixed herself, putting a smile on her face, she went to join the rest of the crew. She was clad they were voting more for Perodo. She knew the Skull Breaker Crew was in Paradiso. And that would spell bad news for all of them given that the Phoenix was the only ship to every slip away as well as take one of their crew members.

She remembered the day clearly. It was three years ago on her birthday. "Aye, Miss Alex the Bold. wait till ye see what we been cooking up fer yer birthday!. We got us a ship we be takin, that you will be leading the charge!" Capt. Hethis said. He was a dirty pirate, one who didn't follow the pirate law.

"Ah, Capt. Hethis, which one might we be takin today?" she asked. She didn't show it but she was growing weary of this life style. She had lost her mom to it, but it was all she knew.

"Ah lass, we be takin The Phoenix!" Capt. Hethis replied.

Alex's eyes got wide, "Tell me ye don't mean it. That's an awful purrty ship with an awful handsome Captain.!" she said. Sh had always longed to go after the ship, what with their happy crew and good Captain who actually cared about his crew. It was sickening, and she longed for a ship like that.

"Aye I do, Alex. And we're about to board now. They're on the other side of the fog so best be gettin yerself ready." the Capt said.

Alex took off as the Captain shouted "man yer battle stations ye no good scallywags!" she grabbed the rope of the firstmate, as this was the rope that always led the charge and today it was her turn. As they cleared the fog she set eyes on the Phoenix and took a deep breath. It was magnificent! Breath taking even. Then they slammed into it, hooking onto it.

Alex swung forward yelling "This ship shall be ours ATTACK!" landing on the ship with a roll she took out one of the crew as they shot her shoulder. "I got the captain!" she shouted and headed for him drawing her flamed sword. When she reached him she smiled. "Prepare t die!, This'll be mine ship!" she said and lunged toward him. He deflected it easily. Blow after blow she swung and it seemed as if she were nothing but a fly to his movements. Growling she shined light in his eyes using her sword and still he deflected her attack. "Ye can't be this good, I grew up a pirate born and raised! I know no other life! Ye can't be as good as me. There is no other way for me!" she shouted and swung one last time.

This time though Captain Caintry not only deflected the blow but ripped her sword out of her hand she sat down as he rested his own sword at the base of her throat. She looked up at him, tears in her eyes.

She shook her head out of her memories and began paying attention to everyone again.

Mitsuhide heard his name and followed the Captain, taking his place to his right. He stood before the crew and heard their words, taking their votes and voicing their opinions and yet... he was distracted. His mind kept pulling him elsewhere and while he did try to take interest in the conversation, he was having a very hard time doing so. His conscious was weighing down on him. Mitsuhide sighed and endured as best he could.

From what he had heard thus far, it seemed everyone wanted to go to Perado, an island with a small colony  that had gone dark, however this was a bit of risk considering they didn't know what awaited them. Paradiso on the other hand was obviously a dangerous place and while it had all the necessities that they would need, it would be very possible they   may pay more than what they should've. Still neither would be a problem if they had the proper supply stocks to confront the pirates at Paradiso, should it need to come to that, or brave whatever waited for them at Perado.

After some thought Mitsuhide made his decision. "My vote is with Paradiso. We do not know what to expect on Perado, we do know what to expect from low lives.". With that stated Mitsuhide thought to himself.

"Now if only Democracy did not take so long.".

Aurea

Aurea remained silent as the proceeding began on the deck. Tucked away in the back, out of sight, out of mind, she could listen to the others without disturbance from any form of confrontation. Not that there had been much on the ship; overall, the crew was fairly well bonded to each other, even despite her attempts to form any sort of bond. Passing remarks over one of the meals, assisting in the completion of one of the various jobs ever unfinished, all added to the weight of duty which she felt towards the crew of The Phoenix. Not a strong connection at the moment,- they were still not much more to her than passing acquaintances- it may very well grow if she decided to stay on the vessel for any significant length of time.

Absorbing the different opinions of those who had spoken, she began to store and catalog the information in her mind, utilizing her exceptional memory to preserve information that might be useful later. A smile tinges her lips as Amelia jibes Varsh, something that had become a form of relief for Aurea during her stay on the ship. Said smile shifted to a sneer as the advisor on the ship announced his part. Anger writhed within her slowly, twisting knots around her insulated mind. How she despised that smug grin and aloof attitude. It reminded Aurea of her family, the good-for-nothing bastards. If only she could have put a bolt in him.

With the vote at four against two in favor of Perodo, the final destination could yet take a turn anywhere. Sufficient people remained so that the outcome remained as of yet uncertain. Originally, her vote had leaned towards that of Perodo. Dealing with whatever trackers her adversaries hired did not appeal to her at the moment however easy it would be with support. Yet without any form of information about Perodo- something she quite liked having- she hesitated. Paradiso could harbor opponents, adventure, fortunes, danger. Perodo was simply a mystery. There was, however, another option not presented. Now why would Captain Osborne hide the existence of an entire island?

Biting her lip, Aurea stood from her leaning position, inching forwards towards the rest of the group. Clearing her throat, Aurea spoke, "I support the vote for...Paradiso." Having said her part, she stepped back, drawing deeper into the cloak.

Her eyes slightly opened as she watched the voting take place in silence, her leg up to her chest as she rested her chin on her arm that propped itself on the top of her knee. While the warmth did keep her somewhat calm, the memory of her brother and she playing pirates still remained in her mind making the votes seem even more important than before. She was happy with the fact that Parada was pulled from the polls, but Blue was nowhere near being satisfied- she wouldn’t unless the vote narrowed itself down to Paradiso. While it was true that the Black Ship was recorded to be docking at both ports, Blue had earlier decided that Paradiso would be her best shot.

She shuffled on the barrel a little before lowering her slender leg to sit in a much taller position, waiting for the other voters to finish.
“To be completely honest, I’d have to choose Paradiso as well. I doubt we would run into any serious problems we couldn’t solve on our own, not that we ever travel peacefully. If I am not wrong, I do believe that every time we stop, there always seems to be some sort of conflict so it’s pretty unavoidable. Plus, from the research we gather, we know exactly what to expect from Paradiso versus Peredo which seemed to be in complete darkness at the moment.” Blue crossed her arms underneath her chest as she watched them while keeping her complete composure.

Selitos Kammar

Selitos had waited patiently while the other spoke their piece. Their reasons for going to the different places were myriad and yet no decision had been reached one way or another. Most people seemed to be leaning away from Paradiso, all well and good as far as he was concerned. He had gauged his audience carefully, enough opinions had been heard that they could consider the matter fairly deliberated on, yet not so many as to have utterly convinced people to one side or another. Instead of going down and joining the group of crew on deck, he stood up on the capstan where he had been sitting, drawing everyone's attention to him as he did.

He looked around and smiled broadly as he began.

"A fairly momentous choice lies before us and we have heard much discussion as to where we should go. Some of you favour Paradiso as a sure choice. This is true, it is a known quantity. We know it to be full of slavers, criminals, swindlers and crooks. We would have to be constantly on our guard there should we go, and this voyage has been a long and tiring one. I ask you all, do we not deserve the chance to relax? Have we not earned the right to put our feet up, to not look over our shoulders and to hospitality, and welcome? Yes, Perodo has gone dark, no ships have come from there recently, however it is the harvest season and that is always a busy time of year. We might even be in time for the harvest festival." He looked around the crew gesturing broadly with his arms "Think of it! Roaring fires, hot meat so tender it almost falls from the bone, and beer, beer so dark and brown as to shame the very soil it came from. My kinsmen are a generous people for those that can pay and those that offer them aid. We can be more than marked men and women for a change. I urge you to consider what I have said. Perodo is our best hope! Last I had heard they were a prosperous town, even if it has been abandoned there will still be much wealth and loot to be had.

Markel watched everyone vote, his head was reeling from the seemingly crazed amount of the voting. Markel hated doing such group-oriented things... Why couldn't he be alone with Caintry to tell him his thoughts in private. Markel watched them all, some votes were louder and prouder than others.

"Cap'N, I vote for Perodo. My brother, he is there now and I'd like to visit him again. I wonder if he is doing alright.." Markel looked past everyone and thought about seeing his brother again.

"Markiemoo!" A man's voice called out, turning quickly Markel felt tears well up in his eyes.

"Kapuchi." Markel ran over to the tall man hugging him tightly tears running down his furry cheeks. He hadn't seen his beloved Kapuchi in forever, a smile brightened on Kapuchi's face as he lifted Markel up onto his shoulders running about like they did as kids. To Markel Kapuchi looked like he did when he left. Markel felt so happy seeing his friend. Although Kapuchi looked sad, then randomly Kapuchi set Markel down and leaned over and kissed his head softly.

"I'm sorry Markie." Then as Markel felt a flush in his cheeks from the kiss, he felt tears as Kapuchi walked away. . .

Markel woke himself up from that, it was becoming very sad and he hated being sad. Wiping away some tears Markel looked up at the captain and leaned on him sniffling.

Elweise paced up and down the dock waiting for everyone to leave the captain's quarters so that she can speak to him, but it seems just as people start to leave more people just go in. Elweise, being probably the shyest member to The Phoenix, didn't want to deal with the other members of the crew, so she didn't go in with them. But soon the announcement of a vote came to the attention of the crew, and everyone was needed on the deck. To Elweise convenience, she was already there. Instead of going to see the captain, Elly decided to just wait for the vote. All the members of the crew started appearing on deck. Elweise tried her best to stay out of everybody's way, and heads to the back of the people crew.

One by one, the crew gave their opinion on which island they are going to land on. Paradiso, an island of crime, or Perodo, an island which has gone silent, were the choices being given to the crew. Elweise knew little of the islands, her isolated upbringing has made is so she knew very little of other places, and she has never been to these particular islands and knew nobody from them. She heard a little about Paradiso from other crews she's been on, but Perodo was mystery to her. There is apparently a small colony on Perodo, but she never heard anything more than that. When she felt like it was her time to vote Elly raised her hand to get attention, "Ummm... I vote for... ummm... Perodo... As the medic, it's my job to advise you to head to the safest island for the crew. Paradiso sounds to dangerous to me. Even if everyone on Perodo is gone, at least there would be nobody there to harm us. Uhhh... Yeah... In a crime hole like Paradiso, it's almost guaranteed that one of us will be shot, or stabbed, or poisoned, or hurt in some way."
