The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 9 authors
Vernon looked around him. Everyone were gathering into pairs or small groups to go and search for the city. The captain seemed to be in his own thoughts. Either he haven't heard Vernon or then he preferred to go alone. Vernon estimated the groups that were heading to the city. He wasn't worried about Aelfric, Merche and Emladrin. That group could survive on their own. He was a bit worried about Alory and Leddy. Alory could fight, but Vernon couldn't help thinking how Leddy would handle in the battle. She wasn't warrior and she was beautiful. Knowing the bad reputation of this city they might be attacked.
Vernon was already going to ask if the two of them needed help, when he noticed Elweise who was away from everyone else. He slowly walked over her. "Heading to the city, miss?" he asked politely as always.
- Emladin held back a scoff as the numb-skull did an odd flex motion, but was even more so confused when he took it back akwardly. Hashari rarely do that. "So, it is decided then, I will acompany you," Imladrin was trying to make it clear that the company of Merche was not welcomed, and he knew that, despite his best insults, the monster was smart enough to pick it up. Also, what Emladrin planned to face wasn't something for something as bad as fighting, and despite his hate for her he tossed her one of his low-grade daggers, knowing that she'll need it. Emladrin looked onto the city that had people that already were fighting that he could see from the docks, and three shots rang out as the event became final about a hundred feet from where he stood. I hope at least one of them come back, their lives are so short, thought Emladrin, but what had to be done had to be don. "Shall we begin?"
Although she knew little of Aelfric Marickson, Merche had no qualms going into the city as a guide for him, as if also seemed that everyone was planning to wander the city in small bands anyway.
”I shall trust you with my safety as you may trust me as a shepherd.”
With that, Merche once more briefed a small smile, which was quickly washed up by the approach of Emladrin to the duo, after his talks with the captain. Despite approaching the two, he only allowed sights on her larger companion, altogether ignoring Merche’s presence. The harpy’s face was once more twisted into a scowl, followed by a sharp look at the scout, as he asked "Might I join you?" to Aelfric solely, as if Merche was not involved in the slightest. Before the navigator could give Emladrin an equally sharp tongue for his behaviour, Aelfric cut in, equally suspecting the tense atmosphere.
"Soften your words Wind-speaker. I don't like your tone. Just because you can shoot a bow does not mean you can fight a true warrior in blade to blade combat, so show some respect!"
Merche remained quiet so far, far too proud to let a sour character such as Emladrin Ozguard irk her, however her youthful anger was early getting the best of her, not quite used to the situation of someone looking down upon her as nothing more than a squawkling. No, this was her first post on an air-ship of any kind; she could not jeopardise it with petty tongue-swishings.
However this proved quite hard, as Emladrin continued to ignore her, only interacting through Aelfric, even indicating that he did not consider Merche into the group.
”Yes, you may accompany us.” Merche interjected bitterly, her words sharp in tone as she gave a grave glare in the direction of Emladrin. Her deathly stare would have continued, if not by the small donation of a dagger in her direction from the scout. Unbeknownst to him, Merche already carried a concealed dagger, however accepted it, her talons lifting it up from ground from whence it was thrown, placing it into the folds of her clothing.
”I suppose a dagger shall protect me from any foul play that may lie ahead of us” Merche noted, her words as sour as ever, almost suggesting that said foul play could, potentially, spout from a particular ship member, however she left the comment vague. She doubted he would try anything with her; after all, without her, there was little chance that they could navigate out of the pirate-riddled hole they were dug into. Nonetheless, the harpy was wary, and eager to get on the road.
”Yes, if anyone wants to get of their business done, it better be soon; the more time we spend in the city, there is more chance we will fall into troubles…”
Merche mused her given information by inspecting the city that was sprawled in front of them once more, squinting in it’s direction as if to decipher its presence.
”If we stick around the middle of the city we should be safe. More pickpockets, however it is safer than just wandering the alleyways.”
Despite her young age and the fact that this was one of her first journeys beyond her own home island, Merche seemed to have a good grasp on the city or, perhaps more accurately, had a good grasp on how cities usually function. It was one of the lessons she learned in her studies to the point that, in most cities, Merche was able to figure out the best way to wander the location, however this was Merche’s first experience in it. She also did not account for any potential threats to the ship if and when left alone, which was a problem that was, indeed, in need to be looked at…
"Alright, I am ready. I know of nothing in the city, but I think it would be fun ... We finding out on our own. " He said and, awkwardly, bent his arm, offering it so that it would uphold hers. "If you’re all set, we can leave."
He waited for her to manifest and then began to exit the ship . Around him, he watched calmly the rest of the crew talking. Small groups of expedition were forming, and discussions that he could not understand buzzed in his ears . After having lingered on each crew member, his eyes turned to Leddy, then to the city, dark, grayish, mysterious... and glistened.
Leddy hummed to herself quietly, rocking back and forth on the balls of her feet as she waited. Watching the trio of Mr. Ozguard, Bonnie, and Aelfric already setting off for their own adventure, Leddy have a small tinge of jealousy, childishly impatient as ever. However it wasn't long after that Alory appeared back above deck, breaking her gaze away from the unexplored land and back to the ship's deck. The thing that really caught her eye was that he was a bit pale, and quite heavily armed to boot. She eyed him curiously, wondering silently why he carried so many arms, but did not voice her concern. The crew members were all quite strange to her in some shape or form, as she assumed she was to them, so it had become habit not to question their ways, for their intuition seemed to be much more acute than her own.
"Ah, yes, Mr. Green. I am ready." Leddy said, smiling, tightening the notches on her tool belt so that it didn't jingle at her waist, excited to get going. She accepted the offer of Alory's arm in stride, not noticing his awkward nature, her hand resting on the crook of his elbow. "We will have lots of fun." Agreeing to him, they started forward, Alory's long-legged strides a bit too far for her reach, causing her to have to jog to keep pace.
"Leddy, must you call me Mr. Green?" He laughed gently, her formal manners really entertained him. Perhaps, if she didn't worry as much over the language, he wouldn't be fond of her just as much. "I am no ones mister. It would be better to just call me Al."
His anxiety diminished when the ally culminated in a wide square. It was yet a bit shady, three or four strange individuals, apparently all men, wandered around, but things seemed so... Curious, now. The day light softly enlightened the rooftops, old shops, glass windows and strange objects behind them.
"Speaking of names" Al said lowly "funny, isn't it? I have been asking myself why call it 'The City Of Death' since I was a child"
He gave her a spooky glance. Of course it was just play, Alory sometimes could still behave like a child.
Breathing hard from only the short distance traveled, Leddy was thankful that Alory had started to slow his pace, if only a tad. She didn't think she would make it very far if they had kept to his long-legged strides, probably ending up with her swooning like an old woman before they made any progress. But, now, as she caught her breath, things started to catch her eye. She looked around with large, wandering eyes, like a child seeing the outside for the first time. There weren't very many people in the shaded streets, but the ones she could see seemed quite interesting in nature, different from those she had met before, though she did not dare stare for too long at any one of them. However, if one passed too close, she moved instinctively closer to Alory, her hand tightening slightly on his arm, but it was more out of a shy disposition than fear of the unknown people.
It wasn't until Alory spoke up that she returned back to reality, away from her awestruck glances. Leddy blinked at his request of calling him by his nickname, looking at him like she thought him a strange creature, "Mankoi? Is it not rude to call a man by their given name?" She had been scolded many a time for doing so in the past, still baring the scars to prove it, so it had become habit to call a man without a title by their surname, unless, of course, she did not know it. It was a sign of her full respect, but maybe it was opposite for other races? "Heru amin caela awra lle dresy?" Leddy quieted her tone as they exited the alleyway and entered the open expanse of the square.
As they walked past, Leddy's eyes might have trailed a bit too long on one of the passerby, something shiny under his coat causing her to keep her gaze. The man seemed to have noticed, locking eyes with her. Leddy's eyes widened at being caught in her act, quickly turning back to her conversation with her crew mate, whom seemed not to have noticed.
The look Alory was giving her when she turned back gave her chills and a very unwarranted worried feeling in her gut, "I do not see how it amuses..." She replied, clearly not understanding he was poking fun at her.
"Well, not exactly. Everything depends on the relationship that exists between you and other person. Calling someone by family name is a way to show respect, kindness. " He tried to explain in the most precise terms that came to his mind. Usually he was the one who needed explanations, so it was a bit of a struggle. "But when you become close to someone, or when allowed, is not necessary. Friends call each other by first name."
He watched the face of his companion to make sure she understood everything correctly. Did not wish to end up teaching something wrong.
Soon after his own playful commentary, Alory himself felt a shiver creep up his spine. Those people could notice his presence and Leddys too, and the atmosphere became a little tense. The vulturous figures seemed to turn towards them as if whispering for themselves of the arrival of odd strangers. Alory gulped and turned to his companion, interrupting the walk.
"Never mind, it was just an expression. It was foolish. Now listen, Lindethiel, there was something you needed to buy? I believe we can find some shops, so I brought us some coins." He questioned, his back turned to the men in the square, trying to block the view of Leddy with his body. "After that I think we will have a better sense of where is what."
Pulling at one of the larger, more intricate of the hair charms that she adorned, trying to un-knot it from the rest of the mess, Leddy nodded slowly, absorbing the new information her companion had provided her with an astute interest. These were very strange, new concepts for her. Most people didn't ever bother to correct her strange behavior or wrong word-choices, finding it amusing that she was ignorant, but Alory never seemed bothered by having her near or teaching her. The thought of calling a man by his first man, one of whom she did not share any blood with nor was engaged to be wed to, sounded like downright madness to Leddy's ears. However, Alory spoke these words like that were nothing, a fleeting thought, speaking slowly and in simple terms like a kind school teacher so that she could understand. Of that, of course, she was quite grateful, but she was surprised that he suggested they were friends. "We are close, then? Friends?" Leddy knew friendship as a man and a man, or a woman and a woman, but never a combination of the two, but as the Nephilim man suggested, it must be otherwise.
Leddy's face broke into a smile at the thought, clasping her hands together happily, though that faded far too quickly, feeling the unease of her partner and the glances they had been getting by the townsfolk. Alory had ceased his walk, sticking himself in front of her vision and looking rather tense to a worrisome degree. Leddy was about to ask if he felt ill, if he wanted to go back to the ship to sleep, when he began to speak again, cutting off her thoughts. She wrinkled her nose at him at the use of her full name, loathing it, though resisted the urge to giggle at the way it sounded from his lips.
"Books," She replied quietly to her companion's question, "and I do possess coin." From the corner of her eye, however, the man she had caught the eye of beforehand came back into her view, a bit closer to them than before, a bit too close for her liking. Deciding it uncomfortable under the stares of the townsfolk and being the subject of the quiet whispers, she tugged on Alory's sleeve, like a child trying to get a elder sibling's attention, starting to pull him toward a shopfront. "Tula, Beleger..."

Lazyscreename wrote:Sorry to bother you folks, I was just wondering if it would be alright if I joined in this roleplay, and if you had any idea of what job role you would nee don the airship? All I've managed to come up with that wasn't used is Quartermaster, Treasurer, Chef, or a simple Deckhand.
I wouldn't have a problem with it, but our GM hasn't been on since the 10th, so of course we would have to wait for their approval. ^^

Seriously! Come on, people, we were doing so well then it just flatlines. Goodness, who needs a life when there is roleplay afoot?! (...Very lonely sounding sentence, but you get what I mean...)
