Despite her mother wanting her to shed the image, the truth of the matter is that Moriah is always going to be the party girl from her younger years. What she does like to include - just to shut the older woman up - is that at least what she still has are the better traits such as her vivaciousness and adventurous spirit. It's definitely hard to ignore her and if you've known her like some of her long-time friends do, you know that it's hard not to be interested in the things she's interested in. She just can't get rid of that and she's at a point where she's just a touch done with trying. Much like it was when she was a teenager, it's quite easy to consider Moriah your friend. Moriah definitely has an attractive personality in that she is fun-loving, always down for anything even if it's just chilling out on some Netflix binge with snacks, and she's a lively individual. She won't say that she's the life of the party, but she definitely is one of the people you can count on to keep the party going. Moriah thrives off of social interactions - on meeting new people, coming up with new adventures and going to new places, and she's just always been the bold one. She's fun. It doesn't take too much to please her. She'll like the extra effort if you are trying to please her, but she'll find hitting up the park to be something fun regardless of everyone else's opinion because that's just who she is. Moriah enjoys life. As your friend, Moriah is indefinitely loyal and protective. She treats those closest to her as family and if she's already prepared to come to blows for family, then it's evident that she's coming to blows for friends as well. She doesn't even care if the friend or family was in the wrong, which definitely speaks to an impulsiveness she hasn't gotten over just yet. Even if her brothers or sister or even best friend was in the wrong - if Moriah sees that too many people are harping on them or are ready to jump them over the situation, best believe she's ready to square up, whether it's with her tongue or her fists. She doesn't play when it comes to her loved ones. She can have her issues when being your friend though.

Moriah loves unconditionally, that much is certain, but for all her talk, she's not good with emotional issues. She's not the friend you turn to when you want to be coddled. If you are not below the age of ten, then it's not happening. But it doesn't mean she won't be there because that's the one thing that can never be said. Moriah is a figure in which whose presence can always be trusted. She's always going to be there, even when those who dislike her don't want her to be there. And when it comes to friends getting over a former flame or lover, or even a failed friendship, Moriah has her own brand of comfort. She'll be the first to shove a shot or two of vodka down your throat, tell you that "real bitches don't shed thug tears for these heuxes," find you a freakum dress (and for the guys, it's definitely a freakum suit somewhere), and make sure that you're dancing your heartache away. Even if it's not dancing and simply going out, Moriah's not the type to let you stew in misery for days on end. That's just not in the cards for her and it's a touch selfish because it's a show of her just not being comfortable with those kinds of situations, but Moriah figures that everyone's up for a laugh or two when she's involved, so a person will get over it, regardless of her insensitivity. However, it's definitely a matter of it being easy to consider Moriah to be your friend as opposed to her friend. That's when things start to get complicated.

Being a friend of Moriah's or just being in her continued presence requires a thick skin. It just does. You just can't be around her and be a sensitive person, which is hilarious because of how ready to go off she is, but that's to be discussed. Moriah's not the one to hold her tongue. If she doesn't like an outfit, you will know. If she doesn't like your significant other or just doesn't like to be in someone's presence, it will be known and it's not always verbal. She's a very expressive individual and the only time she's stone-faced is when she's actively trying to be. Moriah isn't always at the point where she wants to hide, which is key. Moriah is like a live wire and in all honesty, it can be entertaining. She cracks jokes like she's ninety percent sass and still is the friend who will prank you regardless of how old everyone gets. But there also comes to a point where it's too much. While she parades around with a blasΓ©, blasΓ© attitude about the fact that she can be a messy and nosy bitch, at the end of the day, it's not always cute. It's cute when she's doing snooping for her friends because a boyfriend was talking to some bitch on Instagram and they need to scope the girl out. It's even cute when she has the latest on an old classmate who started some mess back in the day. But it's not cute when she's not afraid to use that information - someone's insecurities, the fact that someone slept with someone else - for her own entertainment or just putting someone on blast just because she feels like she has the right to. Moriah's good with keeping secrets and her close friends know that. But if she feels wronged by someone, she'll be the first to use whatever she has, regardless of the casualties and that's because Moriah doesn't think about the collateral damage. Her vindictiveness only thinks about the immediate pleasure of vengeance, and then she's forced to deal with everything else. Which she doesn't know how to handle.

One of the biggest issues is that for all her fun-loving attributes, Moriah is still the same girl who will be the first one to say, "don't start nothing, it won't be nothing," when most of the time, it didn't need to be like that. She's quick to be abrasive and assert how strong she is as a person, which is a good thing. It means that she does have some confidence and that she won't fold just because someone else has a differing opinion, or someone has a superiority complex. But it also denotes a lack of tact and a still developing maturity. Her grandmother would be the first tell everyone that it always feels like everything is a fight with Moriah because she's always had to fight. Whether it was her mother for constantly trying to control Moriah's life - with good intentions, mind you - because she didn't want Moriah struggle as much as she did or even classmates for consistently thinking that she was just another party girl who couldn't back up the things she said - it's not a dramatization. At the same time, Moriah is a mouthy little shit, bristling with attitude and smarting off to whoever is in earshot. Most of the time, that's harmless. She has a smart mouth, so what? Again, it can be entertaining and Moriah is just an entertainer at heart. She has her chill moments and she's not always looking for a fight. Most of the time, she'd love to just chill, listen to music, make plans, and just live. At the same time, she looks too deeply for there to be a fight when there clearly is not because she knows that her running her mouth usually has started something, and will be the first to throw hands when the situation did not call for it. She's always ready for something to pop off, a sign that she's far too used to negative attention than positive, specifically from her mom. More than that, for all that she's the one who has no problem telling it like it is, Moriah also is not being prepared for how close to the surface her own nerves are when the painful retorts are thrown her way. She's actually quite sensitive and will be the first to cut someone with her words, but also be ready to come to blows if it's thrown back to her. Except when it comes to emotions. That's when all that bravery and boldness disappears. Those aren't situations Moriah deals with or has had to deal with in a healthy manner. Her mother wasn't as sensitive to other people's emotions or just how she affected others until she got married, and had step-children and now young boys to deal with. And so, Moriah - even though she's mature enough to know that talking things through helps - isn't used to handling tears or heartache in the same way that someone else would. Tears mean that you're being a baby and she'll joke about real thug tears, but she's also the girl who freaked out over her first heartbreak and her mother telling her to get over it. She's still the same girl who's father left when she was four and every time she heard Luther van Dross' Dance With My Father, cried until her mother said she needed to grow out of that shit. Being emotional has always meant being weak and so Moriah doesn't deal with it. She'd rather sex it away like Solange says or drink it away, and only barely talk it over and only on a surface level at that. Anything deeper - especially when it comes to dealing with feelings for another person - just seems like a lot when she can just be great with some Henny and good music.

While Moriah's mother, Michelle, will always remember having a more less fortunate childhood before her own mother landed a better position during her teen years, Moriah only remembers having had what can be considered a middle class upbringing. The only downside may have been that she was the second generation in their family to grow up without their father as a constant presence, but Moriah did live comfortably when it came to her finances. Michelle had met Brian when she was in high school and they had talked off-and-on for years, but it had never been anything serious until she was on her way to law school. Michelle's mother, Grace, would go on to say that Brian did this because her life was going somewhere while his wasn't, but he proposed and shortly afterwards, she was pregnant. It turned out that she couldn't really keep up going to school, so they figured that she could work, have the baby, and then go afterwards. Sadly for her,
Michelle wound up to this day still being at the same job she left law school for - with benefits, sure, but the father of her child not truly present and a divorce in her past. On the bright side, at least Grace hadn't been petty enough to say "I told you so."

Moriah would say that she had a pretty decent and comfortable childhood. She never got to own a lot of designer brands, but she had also never been exactly enthusiastic about spending thousands of dollars on one bag. There were stores within her means that had clearance sections and ways to mix and match so that she could always look good on a budget, regardless of what other kids might have had to say at her school. She did have her issues when it came to her Dad. He didn't just leave when she was born. Moriah had been born premature - two months early and below the standard weight, so she spent weeks in the incubator. Her parents had had to deal with being told that she would have severe medical problems and probably wouldn't even make it to one, which is still a thing her grandmother wants to fight the doctor about because by the time she did in fact make it to her first birthday, her grandma Grace had gotten her hands on the babe and Moriah's been up and running ever since. Brian left when Moriah was four and as a cliche that would tie in to why she gets so emotional when Luther Van Dross' Dance With My Father comes on, he left a few dollars under her sheet since she had won a bet against him early in that day. As Moriah would say, he played "Where's Waldo?" with her up until she turned eighteen, reappearing every four years or so, and then disappearing before she could get too comfortable with his presence. Yet and still, until she was eighteen when she had decided she was done waiting around for someone who didn't really care, Moriah had always been a daddy's girl to her mother's chagrin. It probably didn't help that so much of her bright character came from him.

That's probably the reason why Moriah and Michelle clash so much. Where Moriah wears her heart on her sleeve, even when she wishes she didn't, Michelle's is encased in ice. Whereas Moriah can keep a party going, the only party Michelle wants to have is one where she's the only guest and her drink of choice is a bottle of wine. And where Michelle might have let a boy get in the way of her goals, Moriah will not. Her mother thinks she's never listened to anything that she's had to say, but the one thing Michelle can't say is that Moriah ever let her grades fall. Sure, they had to deal with Moriah having a smart little mouth since she was five when she told a little boy, "FU," without actually saying the curse words, and then proceeded to tell the teacher that she was helping him spell "fun" since he had such an issue on his last spelling test. As the years went by, they may have had to deal with underage drinking, drunken hook-ups, late nights with friends, a few fights, pranks at school and whatnot, but she can't ever say that Moriah didn't put in the effort when it came to school. Moriah figured that she liked how comfortable her life had been. Up until the middle of high school and her mother wound up remarrying, her grandmother lived with them while working, so those two incomes had given her a comfortable life and Moriah knew later that she wanted that comfort for herself, so she was just going to work for it. She was good with people and science, so nursing seemed like a good idea. She almost didn't graduate on time and only because she had gotten into a fight during the last few weeks of school, and the principal considered suspending her since Moriah technically started it by approaching the girl, but she did graduate and decided to take the year off. She had done a lot of dealing with classmates, so she had worked to have money in her own pocket, have fun and enjoy life without much responsibility, and then started college the year after. The break was definitely what she needed because Moriah's been working her ass off during the school year while keeping her usual job at the nearby MAC store. But she's definitely needing this summer trip now too. There's been too much adulting for her.

Christopher was shocked that his flight from Boston had actually went smoothly. He wasn't a very frequent traveler, maybe flying once or twice a year for local vacations when he had the money, but that didn't stop him from thinking that airlines always somehow fucked things up. For someone who had access in involvement in drugs to an extent where getting Xanax wouldn't be that difficult, it's shocking that Chris still flew sober, because he hated flying. He felt like he was cursed when it came time to do so, as if all of the few times he flew things were delayed for one reason or another. Thankfully, his flight touched down in Los Angeles at around noon, and though it took a little while to get his bags, and then to deal with some traffic on the roads (as he expected, given LA's notoriety for it), he arrived at The Pier Towers at around one o'clock. Luckily, he was one of the last to arrive, and the Murrays were already there, which meant that they were able to get their keys and start the move in process with little time wasted on the cheesy and unnecessarily emotional "oh my god, I missed you!!!"s that could be expected with a group like this. Chris had missed (most of) them too, but he was glad that everyone seemed keen on getting their heavy bags into their apartments and getting settled before actually catching up. Even if the three hour time difference wasn't catching up to him quite yet in terms of feeling tired since it was only three o'clock on his body's time, he was hungry, and that was what gave him the motivation to actually unpack his things once he got to his room. If he didn't have food as the thing pressing him to get settled so he could move on and address it, then it wouldn't have been even slightly surprising for Chris to live out of his luggage for the next two and a half months.

After hanging what he didn't want to wrinkle in the closet, and shoving everything else into drawers in his dresser, he took a few minutes to arrange the rest of his things. He was surprised that he was going to get to have his own bathroom, but then again, it was the Murrays who had arranged this whole thing. He knew that they lived a different quality of life than he was used to, even if they weren't always obnoxious about it. Additionally, he reminded himself that he knew that this was going to be a sick deal when he walked into it. Mr. and Mrs. Murray had always been generous, but allowing them to rent a few of the apartments in the new building that Mr. Murray's company had just finished remodeling was on a whole different playing field than letting Chris tag along on one or two of their summer vacations years ago, or allowing him to take home all of the leftovers when Mrs. Murray cooked her famous chicken parm dish. Even if nothing else worked out, Chris had already decided that this summer was going to be a good one, because he was living in a nice apartment at a price that seemed dirt cheap, even compared to what he was used to back in Massachusetts, where things already cost less than California.

This was going to be a summer of renewal for him. A fresh start. After his breakup with Eida, it was no secret that Christopher had hit rock bottom. For the two years that they had been dating, he had miraculously rid himself of the excessive habits he had in drinking, partying, and the likes. He recognized that they were all empty habits with no benefits, but he had become addicted to them over the years of engaging in them. It was more than an addiction, really. Those things had become a part of his personality and identity, and abandoning them had meant abandoning hobbies and friends that went along with it. He had been so head over heels for Eida, that somehow, none of that mattered then, like it had mattered the many other times that he had tried to get his act together before. She was the first girl that he had fallen for, and he was just as surprised by it as anyone else. Even with their breakup being civil, and somewhat expected, Chris found himself feeling like he had lost his new identity. And what did he have to fall back on? The only other "him" he knew, fit with coping habits that he knew would numb the pain quickly. He was jobless, and back to drinking excessively and partying on the regular within a few weeks of the breakup. It sucked, and Chris was embarrassed that he let things fall apart so easily, but he also was trying to cut himself some slack. He had time to mope and hit rock bottom, and that was fine, as long as this summer, he picked himself up again and moved on. Doing so while spending basically every day with that ex-girlfriend right in his vicinity would be hard, and he knew that, but at this point, he had no other choice. Doing this surely beat spending the summer in his parents' basement, since his lease had just recently ended up his apartment, and he had no money to secure a new one back in Boston any time soon anyway.

Living in the same apartment as Greyson Murray was going to be awkward, and Chris was willing to admit that. He felt bad for what had happened years ago, when he was nothing short of a dick, and drunkenly beat the kid up for what he interpreted as him hitting on him. It was a bad thing to do, especially given how close he was with the Murray family at the time, and though it was no excuse, Chris could only blame it on him being young, and beyond stupid. He wouldn't deny that he was a complete asshole when he was younger, though he wasn't as willing to see that his personality hadn't changed that much since then. At least as much as he liked to act like it had. Other than Greyson, though, Chris didn't mind Delilah and Moriah as his two other roommates. With a closed fist, he banged on Moriah's bedroom door, saying, "Come on, sunshine. Let's go see if Sabrina's finally D-T-F this summer. I need a good wingman in my corner, because you know that nothing goes better with a summer in California than a pretty blonde," he said, with that not-much-has-changed showing through in his personality with that remark, especially considering that he knew that Sabrina's brother was possibly within hearing distance.

Moriah liked nighttime flights. She didn't have an issue with airplanes to begin with, so it was safe to say that she loved flying. In fact, she preferred it over the Greyhound or Megabus, despite the fact that both were usually much cheaper than flying. However, her favorite time to fly was during the nighttime. She couldn't get as comfortable during the day as she could when they were at take-off and there was nothing but darkness outside of her window, accented only by the glittering lights of the the buildings and various structures she got to see as they got higher and higher in the sky. It was why she had decided to get a flight early in the morning from Massachusetts. What she had appreciated, though - more than the enjoyment of flying into the dark skies of the early morning - more was that it meant that Moriah got to climb right into a bed and sleep a little bit later, at least until the alarm on her phone went off to signal that the others should be coming arriving. It had been daytime when she arrived at LAX, so she hadn't slept for too long, but a good hour of sleep for her meant more time to have some fun before everyone had to start working and adulting.

By the time Moriah had taken a shower and finished unpacking, she had heard one or two other people entering the apartment and going into their own spaces to do the same. She hadn't been the most thrilled when she found out that she had to stay with Delilah, but that fact was less frustrating when it meant that Greyson and Chris were her other two people. She liked Greyson and Chris was her partner-in-crime. There wasn't any place that he was that didn't mean that Moriah wasn't going to enjoy herself. Which was why, when he banged on her door like the asshole that he was, Moriah had half the mind to slip off her sandal for the sake of throwing it at him, but didn't. She just rolled her eyes and replied through the door, "If being your wingman means I get to watch your ass fail because we all know that's the last blonde that's gonna be on your arm," Moriah opened the door with a sweet smile, a challenge in her eyes. "Then I'm down." With her keys and wallet thrown into her purse, Moriah closed the door behind her, phone in her other hand. She didn't bother checking in on Greyson or Delilah. They'd all be meeting up anyway and she had at least one other person she actually cared about seeing, which was the blonde girl in question. So, she sent a quick text to Sabrina while grinning up at Chris. "C'mon, Holland. Ain't even been here a day and already thirsting about?"

xxxxxxGreyson was nervous to say the least. He was probably the only child of the Murray family to not be completely on board with the trip. While he enjoyed the idea of seeing some of his oldest friends, he was still weary about some of the relationships he left in a hurry. Of course, his six hour flight from New York made this inherently worse. From his current family situation to his unfortunate unrequited love, this could only get messy. It took nearly eight complementary club sodas, his entire 80s rock playlist, and a read through of his battered copy of To Kill a Mocking Bird to finally calm down. Greyson had always been nothing less of a worry-wart ever since he started high school, and clearly he hadn't grown out of it.

xxxxxx When the aircraft finally landed he grabbed his small nike backpack from the overhead compartment and shuffled along with everyone else off the plane. As he made his way to baggage claim he sent a small text to his siblings and his mother noting his arrival. He had left quite early that morning so by the time he landed he could hopefully check in and settle down before any of the others arrived.

To: Thing One, Thing Two

Just landed in LAX. Are either of you here yet?

xxxxxx Greyson didn't mind the chaotic traffic when he finally escaped the airport. It wasn't much different from anything he'd experienced in New York. However, the city was hot as hell. Changing clothes would definitely be at the top of his list when he arrived at the Pier Towers. On the ride there he slipped his Nikon out of his backpack and lazily snapped a few pictures of the L.A. life out the window. Rows of palm trees lined the streets where sidewalks of a few early-risers bustled about the stores, a few of which Greyson recognized.

xxxxxxWhen he finally pulled up to the the Pier Towers, Greyson was pleasantly surprised to see that it matched the pictures his mother had sent to him of the place before the trip. At least his father had good taste in something. The room was cozy and modern, something he could definitely get used to for a while. He could hear the shower going from another room and spied Moriah's purse sitting on the table. The corner of his mouth lifted up in a lazy smile as he thought of the rambunctious girl. He then realized that he had completely forgotten about the concept that he had 'roomates' for this entire trip.

xxxxxxMoriah was one of Greyson's friends, he always enjoyed her company. Through the surmount of chick-flicks they had watched together he hoped that she felt the same. Chris, however, was something Greyson was quite weary about. Considering one of the last times he'd ever seen him he had blacked of Greyson's eyes and gave him a bloody nose. The two definitely didn't have the greatest of a relationship but nevertheless Greyson accepted it was going to be something he'd have to get used too. Delilah was middle-ground for Greyson, he hadn't been around her that much to know her too well.

xxxxxxGreyson had managed to unpack, change into more comfortable clothes, and was now lounging on the plushy bed in his room aimlessly scrolling through social media. After a moment, he went back into his messages and typed one out to Caleb. The two hadn't seen each other in quite some time, and Greyson still didn't know where he stood. Of course, it was silly of him to think that Caleb coming out meant that there was a chance between them, but it was still a thought that made his heart skip. Greyson spent a good five minutes erasing and rearranging the text before he finally gave up, and tossed the phone on the bed in frustration.

xxxxxxHowever, the sound of Christopher Holland's voice from outside his room gave him a reason to put down the phone, and not embarrass himself. He shoved his phone in his back pocket and peeked his head outside, his face lighting up at the sight of Moriah. "Momo! You would not believe the extra bag I packed with just movies and popcorn for us"
. He wasn't lying either, that bag was jacked full of every genre and flavor of popcorn you could think of. He turned his face slightly to glance at Chris, who still looked more or less the same since Greyson had last saw him. Greyson's jaw twitched slightly as the contents of their past flashed past his eyes, but this wasn't the time or place for any of that. He managed to flash a quick smile at Chris even adding in a small greeting. "Hey Chris".

xxxxxxHey he thought to himself, it's a start.

Sabrina Murray
Hex code: #23CADE
A week ago, Sabrina had forced herself into believing that this summer would be one to remember. And for all good reasons. It was a vacation with your closest friends on the other side of the country. She couldn't complain about that, ignoring the fact that she easily could given the embedded drama that was waiting to boil over by the end of the three month period. But she needed to tell herself that this was going to be a good time, otherwise she'd find some excuse to stay back home all summer, and then come September, she'd hit herself for passing up so many opportunities. Like forming great memories, getting drunk all the time, finally sticking to a fitness routine, maybe even something involving Gabe... The latter she forced from her head though. Doing so was second nature by this point. Never going through with him was something she'd done for so long it felt as natural as breathing, but that was when she actually knew there was a possibility, even the slightest one, that something might happen. But that was clearly no longer an option, and it bothered her more than she'd like to admit. Nevertheless, like always, she saw it through, despite the fact that this time she didn't try as hard to keep her relationship with her sister as ideal as possible. Despite all of that, though, she had really convinced herself that this summer was going to be good. She'd truly believed it until a few days ago when she found out about Stella and Chris. It happened in such a chaotic, tumultuous way. Sabrina wasn't going to ignore her sister freaking out in her apartment over something seemingly small in place of bringing up the huge bomb the girl had dropped on her. But she still hadn't brought it up, and being in the same apartment as Gabe was now stressing her out more than it was exciting her as it had been just a week before. So much for not passing up opportunities, but was this something she really wanted to go for?

Her mind was far fuller than she intended it to be, especially with it being the start of the summer. Her mind wasn't supposed to feel so heavy. For someone so good at bottling things up, this was poking at her quite a bit. It was no wonder that by two o' clock in the afternoon, it felt like no time had passed. Even after the flight, and getting settled, and eating, and then recently, showering, Sabrina's body was impatient for the day to be over with. Instead of enjoying the spacious apartment, she'd spent most of her time inside her room, trying to avoid the others, Gabe specifically. As she was still toweling off her hair, she heard her phone vibrate. Despite only being there for a few hours by this point, the room was littered with clothing everywhere as she tried figuring out what she was going to wear. Definitely not the bests of starts, she told herself. When she saw the text was from someone she could actually look forward to seeing, she was eager to respond. She needed some sort of distraction; just a little bit of Moriah's no-fucks-to-give energy, because she was convinced that she had a worrisome surplus of them. Of course, if she knew Chris was with company, then she'd have more hesitation.

"Yaaaaaaaassss Zaddy," Moriah exclaimed the second Greyson started talking. Moriah might not have been about to go check on this specific Murray just yet as she had a specific blonde to pounce on the second she saw her, but it made no difference once she actually realized that Greyson was really in his room. Their relationship was probably one of those ones people who knew her would think that she would sustain, but Greyson was one of those people that Moriah could chill with. He generally saw a much tamer side to her and considering what he had brought along with him to indulge in over their summer break, it wasn't like Moriah was going to be having any qualms about chilling out if it meant popcorn and convincing Greyson to watch The Wedding Planner again. Yet and still, Moriah teased whenever she could. She turned his way, arms stretched out as she bound over to him. Before long, Moriah was pressing a kiss into her friend's cheek, a big grin on her face. "You always know what to say to make a girl feel loved." Immediately afterwards, Moriah turned narrowed eyes to Christopher while adding, "Unlike some people." Only a moment later and a teasing smirk was directed at one of her best guys before turning back to Greyson.

"But come on, lemme look at you," she continued, trying to pull Greyson from behind his door. Her phone pinged only a moment later. It wasn't that necessary considering the fact that she could see just fine now that she was standing next to him, but Moriah was extra. The move was necessary according to her and she gave him a leery appraisal, playfully eyeing him up and down. "Look at you looking like a right snack from somebody's Tumblr aesthetic! Gonna make me have to watch out for these slick ass West Coast thots trying to get a bite outta my boo." Giggling, Moriah added, "But no, seriously, babe, we were 'bout to go check on Sabrina who I think," she checked her phone, "just text me back. You done packing?" Waiting for a response, Moriah hurried and sent a quick response back to Sabrina.

"Thirsting isn't the right word," Chris corrected her with a grin. It was the right word, really, because Moriah was right, and thinking about getting with Sabrina was just about as close to getting with her as Chris would ever get, but he had too much pride to admit it. The fact, as secret as it was, that he had been sleeping with Stella regularly over the past few months was enough to boost his already inflated ego into thinking that sleeping with Sabrina could actually be a possibility this summer, though. Despite basically growing up with the Murrays in a way that made them closer than normal friends, Chris had never been deterred from thinking that one day he would sleep with the two blondes. He was like their version of Roger from Sister, Sister, except he knew how to hide his flirtatious ways when around their parents. Being respectful and maintaining a proper image around parents was one of the few things that Chris was actually good at doing growing up. Just as he had managed to keep that act up for all of his life, he now had a new act to maintain, and that was acting nonchalant and normal around Stella and Gabriel.

He had moved in with Stella a few months back, after moving back to Boston for work, and subsequently losing that job due to the mental implications of his breakup with Eida. He was horrible for doing it, especially since Gabe was one of his best friends, and one of the people who convinced Stella that she would be doing a good deed by letting Chris stay with her until he got back on his feet, but his urges had led him to starting and maintaining a roommates with benefits relationship. If Stella wasn't his best friend's girlfriend, then he wouldn't have felt an ounce of guilt, but she was. Gabe was his boy, the one person who had been there for him through thick and thin, and he knew that this was the ultimate betrayal. Of course, he and Stella had agreed to keep what they had done a secret, and that it wouldn't happen again now that everyone was back together, but even being in the mindset that he couldn't look at her in a sexual way anymore, he struggled to know how to look at her. It was like one of those scenarios where someone had just done something wrong, and was told to "just act normal". He felt like his actions were going to seem robotic and stiff, since they were going to be overthought, and because of that, he figured that maybe avoiding Stella would be the best option for as long as possible, at least in the beginning. Once everyone else got comfortable and caught up, he hoped that he would feel more comfortable too.

"Hey man," Chris said, offering a return greeting to Greyson, who was one more person that Chris felt stiff interacting around. The guilt was there too, since even though the incident between them occurred years ago, he still felt guilty about it. Not guilty enough to ever man up and offer a genuine and heartfelt apology, but guilty enough to try to be pleasant in interactions. "I'll meet you over there," he said to Moriah, figuring that she probably wanted to stay and chat with Greyson for a little while, and knowing that that wasn't something that he wanted to do. "I forgot that you're brother's living over there too, and I'd rather talk to him before you or Violet do something to put him into a bad mood," he said with a smirk, as he slipped past the two and headed across the hall, before knocking loudly on apartment 4B's door, where Sabrina, Gabriel, Eida and Bennett were supposed to be staying.

This was what Gabe needed – a nice, long, refreshing summer of pure relaxation. California gave off that vibe completely, being a place that Gabe envisioned to be one filled with palm trees, and surfers, and people who were never in a rush to be anywhere other than where they were. Surprisingly, this was his first time in the state. He had been on the west side of the country before, during a trip to Las Vegas for a friend’s twenty-first birthday, and when he visited The Grand Canyon as a kid, but he had never made his way to the golden state before. Before this summer, he had never had a specific reason to, and with how busy he tended to be, it was often easier to book smaller weekend getaways to New York or Miami when he had the money and needed to relax. California had always just been too inconvenient and out of the way, so he was relieved to finally have an excuse to visit, and in this case, not just visit, but actually live there for a few months. After graduating from medical school this past spring, he knew that he not only needed, but deserved, some time to relax. He was lucky that his residency didn’t start until the fall, as many of his fellow classmates had positions that started immediately after graduation, and he was even luckier that his schedule happened to align with those of his friends, some of whom he knew were just as busy as him, and others who… who probably found that this vacation was easier to fit into their schedules. As was the case with Chris, who had knocked on the apartment door just as Gabe was about to open it to leave.

To: Stella
You read my mind ;). Preferences or should we let the others pick?

Stella’s text coincided with the knocking, and answering that as he used his other hand to open the door left him with a momentary delay in actually realizing that it was Chris and greeting him. When he did look up though, a grin fell into place almost automatically. Though he had his flaws, Chris was one of Gabriel’s closest, and longest lasting friendships. They had grown up together, gotten into trouble together, and eventually, taken different roads in life, but regardless of that, they had managed to remain close. Chris was always there when Gabe needed a night out to drink away his worries, and even if he tended to feel like Chris needed to act his age more frequently, he tended to go more lightly on Chris than he would anyone else, simply because they were friends. It was why he had excused many of his more oblivious faults and poor actions, like the incident with Greyson. β€œWhat’s up, man?” he greeted with a wide smirk. β€œSurprised your ass is up at this hour. Still recovering from your never ending hangover, or did you decide to give being a functional human being a shot, and didn’t get yourself almost-kicked-off-the-flight-drunk on your way here?” he inquired.

Still standing in the doorway, he remembered Stella’s text, and letting Chris in, he moved a bit deeper into the apartment to call out to the others. He assumed they were in there, though he had been in the zone enough as he organized his space, that it was possible that he missed them slipping out. β€œSabrina, your sister wants to eat,” he called out, smiling as he continued with, β€œso you know that that means that it’s time to eat.” Despite dating her, Gabe wouldn’t hesitate to poke fun at Stella’s tendencies to be rather controlling. He liked to think of it as a positive traits- like she knew what she want and was confident in herself. β€œEida, Bennett, you guys hungry?” he continued, still speaking loud enough that he hoped they could hear from their bedrooms, if that was where they were. As he looked back to Chris, his voice lowered to an appropriate noise level, however. β€œSo, yeah, think I’m gonna grab lunch with Stella. Your people all in your apartment? I’ll text my sisters and see if they’re hungry,” he added, as he pulled out his phone to do just that.
