Matthew walked down the sidewalk on his way home from school, just as he did every day. His mind was heavy thought of the paper he was writing on the theory on time travel. Something shimmering in the dirt caught his eye. He picked it up to find that it was a bright blue crystal shard. Mystified by its beauty, he rubbed some dirt off of it.

Life can get boring when you're a genie. Stuck in a lamp, well in this case a crystal, until some lucky bastard comes along and rubs it. Syncya just so happened to be in this predicament, so she watched from her little blue crystal as people walked by, one after the other, ignoring her. She thought she'd never get to have a little freedom. Even being someone's slave was better freedom than this. Person after person, day after day, year after year, until...

A guy with long black hair, maybe a high school student, looked her way. Walked her way...picked her up! As soon as he rubbed the dirt off of the shard, she sprung from the gem as though she had been trapped for centuries, which she was.

"Hello!" She yelled, giving him a smile. "My name is Syncya, and you sir, have just lucked yourself into a genie." She bowed to him with the greeting, standing back up to continue. "I know what you may be thinking: "Oh A genie? So I have three wishes?" Well you're wrong! I am a special genie, and I am now your slave, until you die. Doesn't that sound great? My power is basically unlimited, but there are a few things I can't do. I can't time travel, and I can't create or destroy matter." She walked a circle around him, hugging him from behind and laying her chin on his shoulder. "So master, don't yo think you should wish your pet had some food? I'm pretty hungry after being cooped up in there for so long~"

It goes without saying that Matthew was shocked, amused, amazed, and confused all at the same time. Here he saw a beautiful woman appear out of nowhere and claim to be he genie. At first he thought he was dreaming, but being a lucid dreamer, he could tell the diferance between dreams and reality easily. This was all too real. Then he thought this might be some joke. But then he remembered all she sprang from the crystal, so it couldn't be that either.

The only logical explaination Matthew could devise was that this was all truly happening to him. But that was the craziest idea of all! Matthew never had believed in magic, and now he was staring right at it. The only responce Matthew could give was, "How is this possible?"

"How is this possible?" The question was a surprising one, usually her masters wouldn't question her and just get to the wishing. She let go of him and walked in front of him. "Well, you're a weird one. How am I supposed to know how?" She looked down at the crystal still in his hand. "Oh yeah, you want that to be a necklace, ring, or bracelet?"

"I'm the wierd one?" Matthew asked. "You're a genie that came out of a crystal....and I'm the wierd one?" He closed his eyes, which was something he did whenever he needed to get his thoughts together. He opened his eyes refreshed and ready to asess the situation at hand. "Make it a ring, create yourself some food, and tell me just what the hell you are." Matthew pulled out the notebook he kept with him at all times and flipped to a blank page, ready to take notes.

"There is nothing weird about being a genie." She retorted, taking the crystal and holding it up. It glowed a deep blue, transforming into a ball of light. The light dissipated, and a ring was left in it's place. The ring was silver, with blue markings twisting around the frame, a smaller version of the crystal set at the top. She handed the ring to him and then went on to the next task, the food. She rubbed her hands together and then slowly pulled them apart, a blue web spreading between her hands, as the web turned from a blue to a blood red, she smacked her hands together and a mystical cloud of blue and red smoke exploded from her hands. When the smoke cleared, she was holding a hamburger. "Best stuff in the world." She said, taking a huge bite afterwards.

"Anyway, mmrf, I just told you that I'm a genie. You know, like Aladdin, except way cooler." She said with a mouthful of food, swallowing and taking another bite, and then swallowing before she continued. "I haven't always been a genie. I tried to...I did something that wasn't favored in my world, and my punishment was a lifetime of servitude. So, you find the crystal, I become your servant, you get as many wishes as you would like until you die. I'm pretty sure I said this already." She looked at him, and then glanced at the notebook. "Are you taking notes?"

"Yup," Matt answered. He found it funny that a genie, a being from another world, enjoyed cheeseburgers as much as he did. This calmed most of the nerves in his body. "I've got plenty of questions to ask you, but I'll get to that later. Right now I need to get home." Then Matt got a novel idea. "My adress is [Mathew's adress]. Can you take me there? Oh, and I'd like a cheeseburger too if you don't mind."

"Since you asked so nicely." She groaned. It wasn't as though she wasn't used to it. Why would someone ask an order in a nice way? It would make it less orderly. She did that hand gesture again, this time whenever the cloud exploded, it surrounded the both of them. When the smoke cleared, they were standing by hishouse, and a cheeseburger was in his hand. "There you go, master."

"You do this so easily," Matthew marveled. "It must be so cool to be able to do that." He tasted the burger, to find that it was the most delicious thing he'd ever bitten into. "This is awesome." He head was spinning with ideas. "I can wish for anything, right?"

"Of course I can do this easily, I'm a genie." She replied, taking a look at his house. It looked kind of average. "Doing it, awesome. Being a slave, not awesome. No offence." She looked back at him and gave him a smile. "Did you listen to my intro at all? I worked hard on that you know." She sighed, hating to have to repeat herself. "You can wish for anything, except time travel and create or destroy matter."

Matthew truly felt sorry for her. "I'm sorry," he said. Then he realized he hadn't even told her his name. "My name's Matthew. If you like you can call me that instead of master."

"Nothing to feel sorry about. I guess...I kinda, in a way, deserved it...maybe." She looked over at him as she finished the last bite of her hamburger. "Gotcha, Matt. So, what'll it be first?" She then remembered to tell him about the ring. "By the way, that ring is to hide me when you're around people you don't want to see me. For example, you're parents. I'm sure they wouldn't be to happy about a girl like me just suddenly living with you."

For a moment Matthew concitered asking her what she'd done, but he figured it was probabily too personal, or else she'd already said it. Then he heard her say the comment about his parents and said, "Yah, my parents wouldn't be cool with that at all." Then Matthew remembered something, and suddenly knew what he wanted to wish for. "I love teleporting. Take me to room please. There's someething I want to show you."

Syncya looked at him, looked at his house, and then back at him. "Nice cover, lazy." She was joking, but she couldn't help but be playful, it was just how she was. She gave him a half smile and did the routine with her hands again. The cloud exploded, and then they were standing in his room. She looked around, wondering what it was that he wanted to show her.

Matt pulled a thick black binder out from under his bed. "This is were I keep all my ideas and stuff," he said. He flipped though articles he had cliped out of newspapers, mathematical formulas he hd written down, articles he'd printed off the internet about recent theories, and a few swimsuit magazines (he huried past these, self-concious of the presence of the beautiful female near him) until he came to what he was looking for.

It was a twenty page paper that he had written last year. "I wrote this last year for my final essay. It's on the history of mankind's attempts to build a perpetual motion machine, which is a machine a device that produces an unlimited amount of energy without needing energy itself. For ages scientists have been trying to build one. Con men have tricked investors ino giving them money by claiming to have built them. By now everyone's given up on them, thinking that perpetual motion machines are the subject of fantasy. Not unlike someone I know."

He grinned. "I bet with your magic you could make one quite easily."

She watched him shift through the magazines, stifling a laugh at the swimsuit magazines. When he pulled out the paper, she was a little impressed by the detail on it. She took it from him and started reading, sitting down on his bed as she did so.

"This is pretty impressive." She finished reading the paper and walked to the middle of his room, rubbing her hands together. "Do you want me to create it here?"

It took everything Matt had to keep from bursting with excitement. "A perpetucal motion machine in my room..." He nodded yes.

"Kay." She pulled her hands apart and then smacked them together. Th cloud exploded, bigger this time, and knocked her back a little. She stumbled back and landed on her butt, panting as it took alot of energy from her. "I really hate big wishes." She complained as she stood up and brushed herself off. "But there you go."

"Well thanks for doing it," Matt said. He looked at the machine that had materialized on the floor between them. It was a giant cube with gears and wires sticking out of it. He studied it and soon understood how it worked and operated. "This is without a doubt the greatest day of my life! Look at this thing! All the advances that will be made when I show-" He stopped his speech and thought about how on earth he could show this to the public. He would have to explain how he built it, show blueprints he didn't have, not to mention lie about building it himself. His heart sank. "I can't show this to anyone, can I?"

She gave him a sly smile as she sit on his bed. "Kinda sucks, doesn't it? You're not the first master to suffer from that disappointment." She said in a mockingly sorry voice. "So, what's next?"

Matt groaned and he plopped down beside Syncya. "I take it you've granted wishes to countless people. Tell me, what do people usually wish for?"

She put her hand to her chin, thinking it through. "Hm, well, I've had countless of masters. You know all those guys in the history books? I've even helped some of them. I've helped your first president...what was his name again? George something? As for what they ask for, it's usually something selfish. Power, money, women, you name it. I've even helped some people travel to different planets and dimensions. hose extremely interesting stories you've read about that kind of stuff? All based off of true events."

Matthew's heart skipped a beat. "You can go to diferant planes and dimmensions! I've wanted to do that my whole life! I have so many questions to ask you! Are there extraterrestrials? Did that stuff in Roswell really happen? Are there multiverses? How many dimmensions are there?" Matt pulled out his notebook again, hardly able to contain himself.

"Holy..." She looked at him with wide eyes, watching as he pulled the notebook out. "I'm not a book kid, and I can't believe your taking notes again." She sighed, looking at the wall but not really looking at the wall. "Extraterrestrials? Of course. Roswell? I don't really know. Multiverses? Yep. How many dimensions? I don't know, there are hundreds, I guess."
