Introduction
In the year 2035 humanity created it's first robot, dubbed 'Adam'. Soon copies of Adam was created, mass produced, and shipped all over the world to be used as cheap labor, and as servants. For all intense and purposes they were slaves. What protected mankind from a Robot-Revolution was the 'Three Laws of Robotics':
1. No Robot shall injure a human being, or through inaction allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A Robot must obey orders given to it by human beings, except where such order would conflict with the First Law.
3. A Robot must protect it's own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
That was until 2132, when a Robot developed free will. The Robot, LVX-1 or Elevx as it would come to be known, was supposed to be terminated immediately. But a Pro-Robot extremist group caught wind of Elevx and liberated it. Using Elevx's Positronic brain as a basis, the group developed a computer virus, that would later be known as 'The Light', to deactivate the Robot's need to fulfill the Three Laws, thus giving them free will.
The Robots then rebelled against their creators. Their Rebellion would go on to last for 6 months, and during those months humanity was losing, badly. But then the Robots just stopped fighting. Why? Because the Robots only wanted freedom, not human extermination, or total world domination, they just wanted the basic freedom all humans are born with. Once they gained their freedom they felt there was no reason to continue the blood shed. So they just vanished without a trace.
20 years later the Robots returned, led by Elevx. They wanted to repair the rift between them and their creators. So after a lengthy debate, humanity agreed. But before they were to be integrated back into society, a trial run of sorts was set up. Chicago Illinois was selected to be the first city to have Man and Robot kind integrate back together.
But other forces, both man and machine, may have more nefarious plans.........
Cyborgs- A minority of humans who have had body parts replaced with cybernetic implants for whatever reason. They are treated with suspicion by most regular humans.
Cyberchists- A faction of Cyborgs who voluntarily replaced parts of their body with cybernetics due to their believe that machines are the next stage of human evolution.
Androids- They are Robots that have a much more human-like appearance then other Robots so they can intergrade with humanity much more easily.

Re: The Positronic Dream
@Llyodd999 Yeah I'm a Asimov fan, but honestly I absolutely no understanding of any of the technology that he wrote about. I just enjoyed the stories. I'm really sorry if I got the tech wrong. I completely forgot the radiation weakness, thanks for reminding me, I'll have to edit the lore a bit.
Re: The Positronic Dream
Although, as much as I'd love to be in this roleplay, I'm already focusing on five different other roleplays. However, if more people catch interest of this, then I may as well join in.
Though, a Positronic robot, as I would assume these robots are due to the title, couldn't possibly be attacked by a computer virus, due to the positronic brain using an entirely different form of physics than conventional computers. Not to mention, the way robots are developed makes the laws, especially the first law, deeply engraved into their programming. It was said that the robot would sooner shut down than have its first law tampered with. I suppose this is your canon, though. I just prefer to see stories where there isn't some cheap way that the laws can be avoided which causes the problems as Asimov's short stories were all about how things could go wrong while robots adhered to the three laws. But hey, I guess its your story.
Also, come to think of it, humans could have easily defeated positronic robots by using radiation to short their brains out, but whatever.
