Personality

|Intelligent| |Bossy| |Optimistic| |Orderly| |Unpredictable|

There was never any question that Geovanna Devereux was one of the brightest crayons in the box. When her intelligence was brought to light at a very young age, she was sent to the most expensive primary school around, graduating to top notch academies because no less would suit her educational needs. She scored in the highest percentile on all standardized tests, never dropped below a 4.0 grade point average, and even excelled in the toughest classes such as AP Microeconomics and college-level calculus. She would not have become this star student in the classroom if it weren't for her orderliness. Gee was what one would call a neat-freak in every aspect of her life. She had multiple planners for school work, extra-curriculars, social life, et cetera. With her color-coded guides to all things Geovanna, this girl was one you could count on to get tasks done on time, perfectly.

A smart, beautiful girl like Gee was not one to shy away from a leadership role. She was practically born to rule over a company with thousands of employees or to become a multi-national business CEO. She knew how to put people in line while having the persuasive personality one needs to get the job done. But while Geovanna loves to stay on-task and is very work-oriented, she can most definitely be up for a little bit of adventure every now and then. She isn't afraid to hop on a plane for a weekend trip to Tahiti or go backpacking along the Appalachian Mountains. She adores the outdoors and would rather be breathing the fresh air than sitting in an air conditioned office space any day.

Happiest Memory

This is an easy one. The one day that stands out the most to Geovanna is her high school graduation. Even though her mother was sick, she was still there to see her walk across the stage, receive her high school diploma, and give her valedictorian speech. Afterwards, the whole family went out for Saturday brunch - something they hadn't done together in a very long time. She remembers exactly what she ordered: two pancakes, hasbrowns, and a large orange juice. She vividly recalls spilling the orange juice all over her father's wallet, but he wasn't upset. It was her big day. Towards the end of the meal, her mother handed her a small package wrapped in a pink bow. A gold bracelet that her grandmother had passed down to her mother. She still wears the bracelet every day.

Saddest Memory

Another easy question. Her mother's funeral was the hardest day of Gee's life. She was only nineteen years old, and her favorite person in the whole world was just... absent. Her death was excruciatingly painful, which made it all a living hell for the whole family. The worst part of the whole experience was Miranda's presence. She thought she had the right to show up after she ruined the whole marriage? She could sit next to James, teary-eyed, pretending like she gave two shits about the kids' mom. This is the biggest reason that Geovanna hates Miranda more than anyone she knows.

History

When Geovanna looks back on it, she doesn't believe James and Jemma were ever in love. Jemma Devereux came from a well-off family of pharmacists, but they were not extremely wealthy. James, on the other hand, came from a long, long line of coffee bean farmers. Whether they married for tax benefits, companionship, or a family aspect, the Devereux couple was the picture-perfect face of a successful pair. They were married at a normal age - James was 25 and Jemma was 24 - and had children in their late 20's and early 30's. Their first baby was the easiest. Geovanna Charlotte Devereux was named after her mother's grandmother, and she was the best newborn an inexperienced couple could ask for. Didn't cry very often, slept through the night, and had a perfect feeding schedule. Maybe they were just careful first-time parents, but each baby seemed to get sloppier. They had three children together: Geovanna, Aiden, and Jacelyn. Four years after Jacelyn was born, when Gee was six, it was revealed that James had had an affair with a (much) younger woman named Miranda, and they had a two year old son together named Pierce. This is when James and Jemma split. Jemma purchased a large house only ten minutes away from the Devereux estate, but James received custody of all three children. This was hard for the girls because the only mother figure they had was the homewrecker Miranda, who promptly moved in and married their father after Jemma was gone.

Geovanna's main focus as a child and teen was her schoolwork. She was always perfect when it came to her schooling. She was home-schooled by a tutor until ninth grade because she was too far ahead of the rest of the students. Her father decided to send her to a private high school to gain social experiences. Even though she was constantly studying in class, she became a social butterfly outside of the classroom. Because she found school easy, she could do whatever she pleased on the weekends. She could usually be found at the biggest high school (or maybe even college) party around most Friday nights. She didn't really like to drink, but she smoked a whole lot of pot in her four years of high school. At the beginning of her senior year, she applied to Stanford, Harvard, and Cornell and got into all three. She chose Harvard, and in the fall, packed her bags and left for Massachusetts to major in psychology and minor in chemistry. She planned on going to medical school after finishing her undergrad but never got that far.

The summer between her freshman and sophomore years, Jemma passed away. She had been battling lung cancer for three years, and it finally took her on a sunny July morning. She was lucky to have been surrounded by loving family and friends, but she was dearly missed. To distract Geovanna from the sadness of her mother's death, she and James started up her first business. James' father had a small grape vineyard in Northern New Jersey, and he agreed to sign over the deed to Gee. When she went back to Harvard for her sophomore year, Geovanna was too invested in the vineyard to do well in her studies. After failing her all four classes of her first semester that year, she was kicked out. Although her father was disappointed, she was not. She moved back home to focus on her grapes, and opened up two wine shops - one in Alpine and one in New York City - on loans from her father. After both shops did extremely well, she was able to pay her father back. She moved out of her childhood bedroom and into the Devereux guest house. She stayed at her New York office most week days, but came home every weekend to see her father and family.

Pierce stretched his arms, the sunlight waking him. He looked over to his side. Tatiana. No surprise there. He had gotten drunk and high again last night, and it was fairly common for them to hook up, regardless of his "commitment" to Janelle Donovan. He looked at the clock on the bedside table. 8:00am. Too early. He sat up, rubbing his eyes, hoping not to wake Tatiana. He hated talking in the mornings. Janelle had asked him not to take anyone home with him and to not hook up with anyone she knew, so naturally, he hooked up with Tatiana. Janelle didn't know her, and he always went to her place. He stood up, walking out of the room to make himself a large cup of coffee.

When he got to the kitchen, he started brewing the coffee, making sure to fill the pot completely. Shit. The Donovan yacht party is today, he remembered to himself. He rubbed his eyes with the thumb and index finger of his left hand, already wanting the day to be over. When the pot had finished brewing, he grabbed one of the oversized mugs from the cupboard and filled it to the top. He drank the coffee black, not his favourite but not bad either. He heard movement from the room, and he assumed Tatiana was awake. Though he really hoped she wasn't; he was just starting to enjoy his morning coffee.
