"Sometimes its better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission"

a character in “The Reign of Dragons”, originally authored by draketemple, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Name: Drake Temple

Dragon's Name and Color: Sedrik, Purple Dragon (Sedrik starts off as a baby but once fully grown he is the size of a full grown large giraffe (I use this analogy because of Sedrik's long body and neck) He has golden eyes and a few golden scales here and there on his violet body.)
Image

Appearance: Drake dresses in a brown vest over a white blouse and black slacks. He wears black buckled shoes and usually keeps a cutlass strapped to his belt. He has sandy blonde hair and green eyes that compliment his long, sharp features. Stands at 5 feet 10 inches with much muscle definition, even though he is still a skinny lad.
Image

Age: 16

Race: Human and I guess you could say he is a pirate.

Strengths/Abilities: He is good with a cutlass and is a fast runner. Has little skill with a flintlock pistol but is a quick learner.

Weakness: Not a strong fighter. He is also very trusting, and that can lead him into some messy situations.

Personality: Drake is a kind hearted boy and loves animals. He is trusting and at times naive. He never really gets mad and doesn't know enough about the higher powers or the three cities to hold any grudges against anyone from any of the three.

Orientation: Skyfall

Equipment: A cutlass, a pistol, and a bag of ammo

History: Drake was born in the city of Laowlee to a poor fisherman and his wife. The two decided that if Drake was to have any chance to get out of the same life they had, they would have to sell him. Once he reached the age of 6 they found a sailor about to make a journey to Crystacia. Drake left with the sailor and off they went. One and a half weeks later, in the middle of the sea, the ship was attacked by a band of pirates. The entire crew was either killed or thrown overboard except for Drake, who the captain took a liking to. The captain's name was Captain Echo Temple. He adopted and raised Drake on that ship, until he was 16 and officially became a part of the crew. Recently, Captain Echo and his band of pirates had gone on a raid of a small village down the coast of Skyfall, where they found a violet dragon egg with gold specks, and Drake just knew he had to have that egg.

The spray of the sea tickled Drake's face. He stood with his arms resting on the rails at the bow of the ship wearing his usual black shoes and pants and his brown vest and white shirt. The sounds of the pirate crew working hard behind him. "Aye, Drake, get t' work!" yelled the second mate. Drake walked to one of the sails and helped some of the other pirates hoist it closed, for they were close to their stop at Skyfall. After that was finished he and another one of the crew both retrieved a mop and started washing the ship's deck.

The ship sailed smoothly and parked right next to Skyfall's big dock. Most of the pirates exited the ship, except for Drake and the captain who was still in his quarters with his treasure that they acquired after their big raid. Drake walked to the captain's door and knocked a sharp 4 times. No answer came so again he knocked. Still no answer. Drake opened the door and looked inside the dimly lit room.

The room was somewhat large with a red carpet in the middle. Bookshelves lined the walls on the left and a large globe stood near them. A door leading to the bed chamber was on the right. A big desk was at the back of the room and the captain had his head down, snoring loudly. On the desk was a large, long, round stone. It was a little larger than the size of an infant and was a bright violet with golden specks covering the surface.

Drake was mesmerized by the stone. He had never seen anything like it before and the closer he got the brighter it seemed to shine. Now just inches away he reached out his hand and touched it, a flash of white light exploding in his mind making him collapse to his knees. He could hear a voice in his head.

Steal me. Steal me away pirate boy.

Drake got to his feet and quickly tapped the stone again to see if the white flash would happen. Once he was satisfied that it wouldn't he picked up the surprisingly light stone and carried it out of the room onto the deck. He could hear some of the crew returning and he had to move fast if he was to keep his stone. Drake ran to the gangplank and descended down to the pier. A small fruit shop selling exotic spiked dragon fruit was nearby and he quickly hid behind it. The pirates passed him and returned back onto the ship. Drake decided to make a run for it into the city.

He got out from behind the shop, after sneakily taking one of the fruit, and began to run down the dock to the city's gates. He was only a few yards away when the yells of the captain reached him. "Where is that damned boy! bring me back my egg!" Behind him he could hear the hard pounding of boots chasing after him. He finally managed to get into the city and kept running until he found a good building to hide in. He listened closely at the door hearing the pirates run by, missing him. Letting out a sigh of relief Drake walked to the back door and out, accidentally bumping into Raiyn.

City Skyfall

He had gathered what was left of the Assassin's guild to him, only a few remained missing. Raiyn had sent out a couple of the older Assassin's to find Rayma and any of the others. He knew Rayma was in the city, but he didn't know him personally. Raiyn's father had known him better, of course, his father had been the head of the largest guild in Skyfall, and the other guilds had always followed his word. However with the V'lyn house gone, except for himself, he wasn't sure what was going to happen next. The Assassin's around him followed his word, but how long would that last? He wasn't a leader, and he wasn't nearly experienced enough to do much good. That point was proven when he'd tried to attack the leader and almost got himself killed.

"You're sulking," Vy said softly. Raiyn looked up to see the silver dragon hovering over the rooftops about forty feet. He didn't reply, only kept walking. Assassin's don't sulk, Raiyn. You're an Assassin, pull it together.

Raiyn stopped, his eyes narrowing as he looked up at Vy, "Do you not see our city? It's burning!"

"And what are you going to do about it?" Vy's question took him off guard. It took him a moment to answer, but his thoughts began turning towards the man who called himself the 'True Dragon'. His cult was the reason, the whole reason to why Skyfall burned.

"Good, what else, Raiyn? Think." Vy's voice was filled with anticipation, and anger, but it wasn't at the Assassin.

"He said he was cleansing the city..."

"No, think back further."

Then he remembered. The night that he'd first encountered the man. When his father had sent him to see what the two magi were up to. He remembered the old house that had the scent of foul magic, and he remembered what the man said.

"He said that it's already begun. That 'he' was coming," Raiyn looked up to his dragon, he could see the glint of fear in his dragons eye, but there was determination there.

"The cult isn't the real problem. There's something else going on, Raiyn. We have to find out what their true purpose is."

Raiyn turned to the remaining Assassin's that surrounded him. They watched him eagerly, waiting for his orders. They were bloodied, just like him too. He didn't know if the enemy had truly left the city, but he had to send them.

"Find Rayma and the others. I'll meet you all back at the house."

Raiyn turned around and was about to start walking back to the house his father had operated from when a young boy ran right into him. The boy was just tall enough to hit his bad shoulder. He winced, reached up and clutched the wound as he looked at the boy. Bright green eyes and blonde hair filled his vision, his clothing was simple and the boy looked unharmed.

"Are you alright?" Raiyn looked around the smoking street. Reaching out with a bloodied hand he took the boys shoulder and pulled him close, "Follow me and stay close." Raiyn took the boy with him to the house. Once there, he let him go and marched up to the desk that was at the back of the large room. It was ornate, dark cherry wood and embroidered with gold. Along the walls were tall book shelves filled with old books and documents. Most of them were records of the Assassin's guild and contracts. The others were on basic training techniques and so on. The Assassin pulled out a quill and paper and began writing, completely engrossed in getting everything down on the paper so he could send it to the palace in Skyfall.

"The elven lady is here, Raiyn."

He stopped in the middle of his writing, "She is?"

"Her dragon too. They are helping the people escape. A young man is with her as well."

"If you can, get her to come here. The Assassin's will need her help."

City Crystacia

"No, that can't be," the Queen said in hushed tones. Her fragile face was pale from her shock. She stood, the paper in her hands shaking. Her scout knelt before her, out of breath from his haste to get to Crystacia.

"I saw it with my own eyes, my Lady. Skyfall burns! Men in black cloaks nearly destroyed the city!"

"The guilds... what of the guilds?"

"They still live, last I saw. My Lady, if I may..."

"What?"

"There were a lot of black dragons in the sky over the city..."

Queen Fae sucked in her breath. The paper fell from numb fingers. She couldn't believe it. Black dragons? City Laowlee... King D'earl, attacked and nearly destroyed Skyfall!? She was astonished, she couldn't... wouldn't believe it. However, here her scout was, trembling from the sight, his eyes reflecting the truth in his words. She couldn't breath for a moment, just stood there in her white palace at a loss.

"But.. Skyfall is neutral, they never..."

"They do sometimes, my Lady," a different voice called, this one belonging to one of her council men. The three of them sat in smaller chairs next to her throne. She turned slightly to look at the old elf who had spoken. She took a shaking breath, then straightened herself.

"Get me an audience with King D'earl."

Drake looked at the man in shock and had a little fear as well. "Are you alright?" Raiyn looked around the smoking street. Reaching out with a bloodied hand he took the boys shoulder and pulled him close, "Follow me and stay close." the man had said. He led Drake to a house then left him. Drake was confused and wondered what had happened to the city. He hadn't spoken a word yet and held on to the stone tightly.

The voice called in his mind again.

Take me outside, please. I want to hatch in the sun.

Who is that? Show yourself!

The stone twitched in Drake's hands, almost making him drop it. It is I inside this egg. Please take me outside. Drake looked down at the egg in bewilderment. Was it true? Was he actually holding his very own dragon egg?

Walking through the house Drake managed to find a bed room with a window. He opened the window and set the egg down where the sun was shining inside the room.

what is your name, dragon? Drake asked hoping it could hear him. I am called Sedrik. It replied

The egg twitched faster and faster, rocking back and forth until finally the baby dragon burst from the hollow prison. It was a beautiful purple with some gold. It started stretching and rolling around playfully, and yelping as it ran around the room. Drake laughed and picked the dragon up, holding it like a dog "you are beautiful." Drake put Sedrik back down and cleaned the room so it wouldn't be apparent that he was there. Finally he walked through the house again before stumbling upon the room that Raiyn was in. Sedrik pushed past his legs and ran up to Raiyn, accidentally bumping into his leg. "Sedrik, get back here. I'm sorry about him...can you tell me what is going on? Why is the city in ruin?"

He had finished writing the message when he felt a bump against his leg. Looking down he caught sight of a very beautiful purple dragon bouncing around his boots. The boy who he'd brought into the home called to the dragon. It's name was Sedrik. Raiyn remembered vaguely when Vy was that small, but it didn't last. Within two months, the silver dragon had grown to be the size of a small pony. Three months after that he was nearly full sized, but still considered a baby. Now, several years later, Vy was a full grown dragon and had matured beyond Raiyn.

"Sedrik, the name suits him," Raiyn said as the dragon scurried over to his companion, "I'm Raiyn V'lyn. Skyfall was attacked by a group of magi. I don't know the full details, but I intend to find out their true intentions. Do you have anywhere you can go?"

"If this is something bigger than just a feud between Laowlee and the other cities, he won't have anywhere to go. No place will be safe, Raiyn." Vy said softly. Raiyn could feel his dragons sadness and discomfort. It hit him hard over their connection and he stood there watching the boy trying to ignore his own grief. The Assassin realized that with his father gone, he was now the one in charge of a crippled guild in a city that was defeated. It almost seemed to be too much. Vy, realizing what had happened, reigned in his own emotions, "Keep him with you. Also I was able to speak with the elf's dragon, they should be on their way soon."

Raiyn nodded though he knew his dragon couldn't see him, "Never mind. Stay with me. What's your name?"

The Assassin's moved through the city quickly, searching for Rayma. It shouldn't be hard to find him, but he was the top Assassin in the guild, the most skilled out of them all. Mr. V'lyn had put his full trust in the man and Rayma had always gotten the most difficult assignments, all of which he completed perfectly, all the time. With that in mind, the Assassin's moved as quickly as they could, searching every nook and cranny as they went. It was a full city sweep, and it was slow going, especially since most of the guild had been wiped out.

While they searched, one of the men found a young girl kneeling in the street. Several black cloaked men lying on the ground around her. She looked out of sorts, dazed and unsure. The Assassin knelt next to her, put his gloved hand on her shoulder and got her to look at him. The girl looked tired and possibly a little scared. He tried to get her to stand, but when that failed he pulled her against his chest and lifted her easily.

"I'll take her back to V'lyn," and off he went, the other Assassin he had been with only nodding.

Sage By'rill

The forest was calm and quiet. The smells of the trees, the earth and the wind filled her senses. It was peaceful and she was reveling in it. The peace in the forest was a great contrast against the agitation Rin was feeling. However, with Sage's body and mind filled with the calm of the trees around her, Rin had calmed slightly as well. Her blue dragon was circling lazily in the sky above the forest because there was no where for her to go. The trees were too tight for her to walk in without destroying anything or getting her wings stuck.

"I think you're getting close," Rin said. Sage looked up through the canopy, just barely able to see through the leaves to the sky that was slowly growing darker. The elf hoped that she would reach Gwindor's place before the forest was pitch black. Not that she minded the darkness, but the quicker the better. She picked up her pace and moved silently through the trees. It was a little while after when she picked up the smell of something cooking. She started towards it, hoping that she was about to stumble upon the older elf rather than any bandits in the forests.

"Sometimes you have an interesting way of thinking, Sage."

The elf smiled at her dragons words. She raised her eyes upwards for a moment before looking back at where she was going. She was moving at a half run, leaping over fallen logs and dodging bushes. Sage was completely silent in her advance, and soon she was upon a small area where a small home had been made and the smells of the food were much stronger. She cautiously moved into the area, her eyes watching the piece of cloth that flapped gently in the wind. After a moment, Sage stood at her full height (which wasn't very tall) and called out.

"Elder Gwindor? Are you here?"

Aella noticed the kid was looking up and she followed. Deimos was flying down, roaring. She rolled her eyes at her dragon's silliness. The dragon landed in front of her and butted his head against her shoulder, wrapping his body around her. He let out a purring breath.

"Ael! I was friggin worried!" the dragon roared out while Aella laughed. She ran a hand over his cheek and smiled. "Oh! By the way! That warrior you healed called for you, apparently he's a big deal around here... His dragon is huge and silver and stuff... The kid's an assassin and his dad ran the guild... I wondered where I heard his name before..." That had Aella blinking. 'He needed to see her? He was an assassin? It explained all the little daggers...' She shrugged and gingerly got on Deimos' back. Her side didn't hurt as bad but it did when she moved too much.

"Alright, kid. This is how it's gonna work. You and your ride follow Deimos back to a guy we know. There'll we'll introduce each other and get past all the nice pleasantries. And we'll figure out what's going on, got it?" Without waiting for an answer, Deimos took to the skies. She flipped her hood up as Deimos maneuvered around the remaining dragons. She knew that Deimos was sure of where he was going. Or she hoped.

"I do! The silver dragon told me exactly where the other kid was! It's some building over here!" Deimos exclaimed, his wings beating at a even pace. She changed her bow for her staff and got back into healer mode.

"Sure, sure. Just get us there." Deimos huffed and landed in front of a house. Aella hopped off and grabbed her side again. Deimos nuzzled the other one. She frowned at the dragon.

"Moron..." he muttered, using his actual voice, harsh from disuse. She shook her head and walked in, not bothering with knocking. Deimos followed behind her, his tail lashing at anyone who looked at the healer longer than 3 seconds, which was often. She walked to an assassin and cleared her throat.

"Excuse us, but I'm looking for Raiyn V'lyn. He sent for me but he merely told me the location, not which room." The assassin blinked a couple times before pointing to a desk where people were at. There was a small purple dragon and a blond boy. She wanted to coo at the boy but focused. She walked over and tapped on Raiyn's shoulder. "It's only been a few hours and you're already looking for me again?" she teased before getting serious. "You called for me? Your dragon contacted mine. Does someone need healing, cause that's all I'm really good for..."

Raiyn dripped red wax onto the paper, reached into his fathers desk and pulled out a stamp with the Assassin's mark on it. He stamped the hot wax, brought it to his lips and blew to cool it off. He reached carefully, feeling his wounds pulling. With the adrenaline rush from the fighting gone his muscles were tight and the cuts deeper than what he'd thought.

"Take this to the palace, the viscount needs to send word of this to Crystacia, Ro'ell and Laowlee."

The Assassin took the paper, bowed to Raiyn and left quickly. As he did so, a tap on his shoulder made him wince slightly, but the voice was unmistakable, "It's only been a few hours and you're already looking for me again?"

Raiyn looked up at Aella as she stood over him, a small smile lifting his lips. Her voice turned professional as she asked if anyone needed healing. He went to stand, but pushing up off the table proved to be much more painful than he thought and he dropped back down in the chair, his side burning, as well as his shoulder and chest. He'd managed to clean up the blood from his side, but he was sure it had started again. He motioned with his good hand out to the several Assassin's who had returned, most in worse shape than himself.

"My men do," he replied softly. He didn't want to tell her he'd undid her handy work on him.

"Afraid of her?" Vy asked, a teasing tone in his voice, "My Assassin is a afraid of an elf."

"Be quiet Vy," Raiyn replied, a frown on his face and his eyes narrowing as he looked up at his ceiling knowing that the large silver dragon was up above them. He turned back to Aella. He offered her a smile and stood again, much more carefully than the first time, "Use whatever you need," he told her. It was only when he'd stood to turn and look at her directly that he noticed the blood on her robes. Raiyn's gaze dropped to her side, the cloth ripped and beneath a shallow wound grazing her side just above her hip. The Assassin reached out, lifting her arm and turning her so he could see the wound better.

He gently pushed the cloth aside to look at the cut, then lifted his gaze to her, "You should treat yourself first," he motioned for one of the Assassin's to his side, "Take her to the next room, fresh cloths and let her treat herself before she treats anyone," The man nodded and offered his hand to Aella. Raiyn put her hand in the Assassin's and turned her gently so that she could be led out.

Raiyn winced inwardly as she threatened him, and he tried hard not to smile at her. For some reason her angry expression didn't scare him all that much, in fact it was quite the opposite, she was prettier with the angry look. The Assassin took her gently and led her away and he sat down with a sigh.

"Fiery isn't she? How do you know her?" One of the men asked softly.

"Just met her," Raiyn replied rubbing absently at his shoulder.

"Well, you better go see her before she tears this house apart."

"Better be careful, she might just tear you apart before she heals you," Vy said.

Raiyn rolled his eyes at both his Assassin and the dragon. A little while later, after he had started discussing what he planned to do, another of his Assassin's came into the room carrying a young girl. Raiyn stood quickly and went to the two. He inspected the girl to see if she was injured, but it only seemed like she was dazed.

"Where did you find her?"

"In the street, she was surrounded by the cultists. She must be a magi, there wasn't a scratch on her but they were all dead."

Raiyn raised an eyebrow as he listened. He nodded and motioned for the Assassin to follow him. He went to the room where Aella was. Turning around, he took the girl in his arms and gently laid her in one of the cots that was set up. Several of his men had bandages on them, and he looked for the elf that worked to heal them. He found her wrapping linen around one man's arm. He noted that her cut hadn't been treated. Might as well face the wrath, he thought, a small smile on his face.

"Oh yes, because the very tiny elf terrifies you."

"Would you..."

Vy's dry laughter filled his mind, the dragon was certainty having fun, "Forgive me, Raiyn, but I've never seen you act quite like this with a woman before. Sure you treat them all very highly, but to this young one, it seems you almost want her attention no matter what."

Raiyn glared at the ceiling, he shook his head and ignored the silver dragons comment. He moved to stand near the elf waiting for her to finish. He would have her finish healing his men, then he would see to it that she healed herself before he allowed her to heal him. Raiyn crossed his arms over his chest, watching her work.

City Vaye

"The more we kill, the more life is brought to him," his voice was hoarse as he spoke to the black cloaked men around him. He raised his arms, the city of Vaye right behind him. "It is a cleansing, us, the True Dragon's will be given our rightful place along side our rightful King."

The men were silent, anticipation in the air. He turned to face the city gates. His arms slowly came back down to his side, "Bring our King to life."

The mass of black cloaked men disappeared, magic releasing into the air like a toxin. It made the wind heavy, the air taste different as it was taken into the lungs. All went into the city except for him. His metal clad hand twisted with the other, a smile on his pale face. Not long after, the screams started in the city, and the first of several fires erupted, causing the sky to turn black with smoke.

"Thane," a feminine voice called him. He turned to it. The woman stood with one hand on her hip, her long black hair twisted over one shoulder.

"What is it now?"

"You're called back to Laowlee, the King wishes to see you. Queen Fae is there as well."

Thane smiled, baring crooked teeth, "Well then, let the games begin."

Raiyn watched her with an amused look on his face. Her threat to tie him down was... intriguing, if nothing else. He kept his arms crossed over his chest and didn't move. He would win out, he was patient. When she didn't move either, her eyes slowly narrowing into beautiful colored slits, his smile grew.

"I would be careful, Raiyn. She might just re-open your wounds completely just for spite," Vy said.

Raiyn looked down at her arms that she too crossed over her chest. They were wrapped in white cloth, little spots of red slowly peering through. This made him frown. "When she heals she takes some of the injury?"

"It's not uncommon, Raiyn. A lot of healers have some sort of price to pay for their magic. Nothing is ever free. Even the most powerful magic user will run out of energy or kill themselves if they aren't careful."

"Good to know they aren't invincible."

"The girl isn't injured, just worn out it seems," he said softly, "needle and thread will do just fine for my wounds, but only after you've taken care of yourself," he leaned forward, closing the distance between them and watching her pretty face turn pink, "Can't heal anyone if your not fit, now can you?" He asked even softer, his voice barely a whisper. He hovered there for a while longer than straightened again. Raiyn didn't move after that, only waited for her to take care of her own injuries.

"You really are a charmer arn't you?"

"I'm going to ignore that, Vy."

The dragon laughed, "Well, before she kills you, what is your next move, aside from gathering information around Skyfall?"

"We go to Laowlee. King D'earl will be our first stop. I hope to get Rayma to come with us."

"Why do you want the outcast?"

"So I can learn more."

"But you've learned the ways of the Assassin, you've been doing it for years, you are no novice."

"Did you not see the fight with that magi? Twice he nearly killed me. What happens next we meet?"

"I won't let it happen," Vy growled.

"Neither will I, hence the need for Rayma."

"Drake, Drake Temple. What's yours?" Before Drake could get his answer a small elf girl walked in accompanied by a small bronze dragon. She tapped Raiyn's shoulder and they talked but it wasn't interesting to Drake. Sedrik started climbing up Drake's leg and up his back then on to his shoulder. Who do you suppose that is? Drake asked. I have no idea but that man sees to really be into her

The girl left the room and one of the assassins brought in another unconscious girl. Raiyn left with them and Drake looked around the room. He walked up to the desk and picked up the candle with the wax. Sedrik moved a little on his shoulder, tickling him, and making him drop the candle spilling some wax on the desk. "Oh...uh..." Drake hurriedly left the room.

Smooth move. Drake pushed Sedrik off his shoulder forcing him to flap wildly to stay in the air and return to his shoulder. Drake kept walking around until he found Raiyn and the assasin with the girl walk into what was being used for the infirmary. Walking to the door he entered the room and hung around the back listening to their weird conversations.

Never been to the big city i'm guessing?

Never, its kind of...confusing. Who is that girl that they carried in and what is a magi? Sedrik moved on top of Drake's head, apparently bored. How should i know? Now take me outside pirate, you promised! Sedrik nipped at Drake's ears making him flinched

I did no such thing! Maybe later. Drake slowly walked up to Raiyn and the girl. "Hi, my name is Drake, I was wondering if there was anything i could help with?" Introduce me. Sedrik nipped at Drakes ears again. "Ow! Don't make me hurt you, you little runt." Then introduce me! Sedrik whined in Drake's head, nipping at his ear and making him flinch for a third time. "...and this is Sedrik." The little dragon puffed out its chest and tried to look as impressive as possible.

Aella's glare did nothing to the Assassin and she sighed. "Fine... You leave me with no choice... Sorry in advance..." She waved her hand and the clean water in the room tied Raiyn to the cot. The water flowed around him, like a bubble, soaking him from head to toe. "I wasn't kidding..." Then she spotted the little blond and the purple hatching and cooed at him. "Aren't you two cute... I'm Aella, a healer and you can help me. See the girl in the cot? Can you go see if she's awake or asleep while I tend to Mr. Stubborn here?" Then she turned to the wet Assassin on the cot and snorted. "And, you... You just look ridiculous..." She told him before pumping magic into the water. Deimos walked in and laughed at the Assassin.

"And you thought she was joking..." the dragon told the boy before nuzzling Aella's hair. "You need my help, Ael?"

"In a bit when I go to rouse the girl, if she's asleep and heal myself... Then I will need a good bath and new robes... You can get me those, yes?" she asked the boy, knowing he couldn't answer until she removed the water, which was breathable. The water removed his shirt and all that jazz so she could remove the bandages. Once those were gone, she rubbed her fingers over the wounds, keeping all the blood away from her view and Raiyn's face. As she rubbed, they healed right up, any infection gone with them. She drew her hands away and made the water go back into the pans, the bloodied going into a separate one than the cleaner.

"All done..." Deimos told the Assassin, still chuckling over his healer's water stunt. He pushed magic to her and she relaxed against him. Their dynamic was interesting.

"You stole the words out of my mouth, Dei!" she chirped before looking at Raiyn. "Now, can I have that room..? I wish to heal in private, seeing as how I must wrap the wounds myself and that would mean disrobing. Unless you'd like for me to disrobe here..?" she joked, a delicate eyebrow raised. Deimos gasped.

"What a pervert..." he muttered as if whispering in Aella's ear to gossip.

Raiyn sat up, drenched in water and his shirt gone. He frowned at her, but even as he glared, he couldn't bring himself to be angry at her. It didn't even matter that she'd used magic to take him down, something he was not very fond of.

"That's the second time she's taken your shirt off, she must like it. I wonder what would be next?"

"Vy!" He called, yelling both in his mind and out loud. He sent his glare upwards, hearing the dragon laugh.

"Oh don't pretend to be angry at me."

"I haven't even begun to get angry with you," Raiyn replied coldly. He stood slowly, his eyes dropping to take a look at his wounds. They had closed completely and she was leaning against her dragon heavily. Raiyn ignored the last part of her words, instead he gently took her and led her towards the door at the right of the room.

"Go heal, and afterwards, I would like to speak with you," he said gently. He let her go into the room and shut the door. The Assassin rubbed his hands through his drenched hair and shook the water free. He turned to the bed that was near the door. It was where he had laid the girl down earlier. Drake stood next to the bed, so the Assassin put his hand on the boys shoulder.

"She's fine. Come with me, Drake, Sedrik too."

"What are you doing, Raiyn?" Vy asked.

"If he's to come with me, I need to know if he can fight."

There was sarcasm in Vy's words as he spoke again, "You get one scratch on you and I'm not saving you."

Raiyn smiled as he walked to where Aella had her magic toss his shirt off. Gathering the materials he started putting it on, continuing to leave the room as he did. Once they were away from the others and in an opened area of the house, Raiyn picked up two of the long knives that were on the table. They were the same ones he had had when he'd fought the magi the night before. He turned to Drake.

"I see you've a sword. Show me what you can do with it."

See the girl in the cot? Can you go see if she's awake or asleep while I tend to Mr. Stubborn here?" Aella had asked. Drake nodded and walked over to the cot, looking down at the girl. She seemed fine but was sleeping soundly. Drake turned to see Raiyn. "She's fine. Come with me, Drake, Sedrik too." "Um alright"

Drake followed Raiyn. Ooh someone is in trouble taunted Sedrik. Shut up, runt Drake chuckled at the little dragon. Sure he was a nuisance but he was Drake's nuisance. Drake scratched the small dragon's chin like a cat.

Raiyn led the boy and the dragon to an open area of the house. "I see you've a sword. Show me what you can do with it." "Alright..." Drake unsheathed the cutlass and lunged.

I didnt know you knew how to sword fight.

I spent my entire life with pirates, I was bound to learn some time

Raiyn parried, obviously much more skilled than Drake but drake took a few more swings before doing the very pirate thing and pulling out his flintlock and aiming it straight at Raiyn's head. He said the sword, no guns! Sedrik nipped at his ear. Yes sir! Drake mocked back at the tiny dragon. "I'm sorry, it's an old habbit..."

The boy did seem to have a good handle on his sword, the hit Raiyn parried was strong. He twisted back around on his lead foot and met Drake's next attack. The blades clashed together, sending sparks. Drake flew at him once again, his cutlass scrapping across the long knives as he rushed by with Raiyn sidestepping only a few inches. When Raiyn turned around he found himself staring down the barrel of a pistol.

"I'm sorry, it's an old habit..." Drake said.

Raiyn smiled at him and lowered his long knives just as the boy lowered his gun. The Assassin gave him a short nod, "Don't apologize." Now that he knew the boy was more than capable of fighting, he sheathed the knives and made his way back into the room where he'd written the note to the palace.

"I'm going to Laowlee when Aella is ready," Raiyn said softly, he pulled out more paper and began writing out orders to his men. They were to keep searching for information and rebuild the city in accordance to the viscount. There was more, but it was mostly general orders that his father had always given out. He stopped writing and stared at the paper for a while before finishing his work.

"Don't let yourself fall into grief."

"Thank you Vy."

***

"Mmm," Vy hummed in agreement with Deimos, his voice much deeper than the smaller dragons, a slight growl to it as well. "Mortals do not appreciate it like we do." Vy shifted on the stone rooftop. His long tail curled slightly, his wings stretching out to gather more heat from the air around them.

"Tell me more about your lovely lady elf, Deimos. I wish to know about her," Vy asked after a long while of silence between them. The larger silver dragon shifted his head to look at the other, his spikes and scales glinting in the dying light.

City Crystacia

Sage had left the forest, disappointed that she hadn't found elder Gwindor. Rin tried to assure her that perhaps she had missed him and that they should try again another time. The elf nodded her head, feeling a little better. So, she would have to stay in Crystacia because it was closest to the forest where she wanted to see Gwindor. Rin's sense of dread had come back after several hours of being back in the city, however, and Sage wasn't feeling as happy as usual because of it. To make matters worse, the gossip she heard around her didn't help the situation.

"Queen Fae's returned from Laowlee. I hear the talk with the King was less than pleasing."

"I heard that one of the magi there is going rogue from the King's rule."

"The King denies everything that's going on in Skyfall! Everyone know's he's lying! How could he just lie to our Queen? I say we go to war with him."

"Going to war would be a serious mistake," Rin told the elf.

"Yes it would. Not only would all of Draakon be plunged in death, but I don't think we'd just be fighting the Red's and the Black's.

"I'm afraid you'd be right in that account."

Drake smiled when Raiyn said not to apologize. "Mind if I tag along with you and Aella? I don't really have a home any more, and I've always been up for an adventure." Right then the elf girl walked in rubbing sleep from her eyes. Drake backed away respectively letting the two have his moment like he had so many times before with the captain and the escorts he brought on the ship.

"You think those two will get together?" Sedrik asked, looking for anything to satisfy his boredom as he returned to Drake's shoulder like a parrot.

"Absolutely." Drake chuckled at the two. He wanted to stay but instead he sheathed his sword and returned back into the room with the magi girl. She still looked fine. Drake wondered what else there was to do. He always hated boredom. Sure back on the ship he was mopping the deck or cleaning the crew's rooms but at least he was doing something, here there was nothing.

"Why don't you take me outside already. I want to feel the sun on my scales."

"Fine, you win, lets go outside." Drake found the front door and stepped outside. Sedrik instantly flew to the roof and perched on one of the shingles, opening his wings and bathed in the sunlight for the first time. Drake! There are other dragons out here! I'm going to go say hi."

"Alright just don't travel to far away." Sedrik flew away to find some other dragons to talk to, running into Deimos and Vy. "Haha, runt." "I heard that." Drake walked back into the building and back to the room with Raiyn and Aella. "Ready to go?" Drake twitched around a bit, still a little nervous around the new people. "If i can come along we would have a problem. I have no way of getting to Laowlee."

===

"Hey fellah's, I'm Sedrik. Nice to meet you, what are you talking about? Your companions? That's neat, isnt it great to be in the sun, i love the sun." The little dragon barely took a breath during his rant. He fluttered up to Vy and landed on his head, not realizing how annoying he was being and waited for them to respond.

"You're coming with me, Drake," Raiyn answered the boys question with a smile. A moment after and the elf made her entrance into the room.

The Assassin raised an eyebrow as he watched Aella walk into his study. She rambled at him, apologizing about her sleeping and why she had slept. He didn't care, in fact he was happy that she slept. The elf had looked like she needed it. He put the paper in the hands of one of his men standing next to the desk. Drake left the room with his rambunctious dragon. Raiyn knew the boy wasn't going far and that he would soon be back.

"Report back to me as often as you can," he said. The Assassin gave a nod and with a short motion from Raiyn's hand, he left the elf and him alone. Raiyn turned to look at her as she fell silent.

"We leave for Laowlee. Will you come? I'm taking the boy and any other able bodied man I can."

"Ready to go? If i can come along we would have a problem. I have no way of getting to Laowlee," Drake said as he entered the room.

Raiyn turned his attention to the boy, "Don't worry. You can ride with Vy and I," The Assassin stood, his gaze turning to Aella, "Ready when you are," and he started for the door of the house.
***

Vy snorted out a laugh, "Raiyn. Where should I start? He is fairly quiet, when he does speak it's not a lot, short and straight to the point. Being born from the longest line of Assassin's he has had an almost easy life. The name V'lyn is nearly enough to terrify any enemy he's ever had. However, that does not mean he's not good at what he does.

"He's overly confident at times, and he hates magic. It's the one thing that he's never been good at fighting against. I'm sure you realized that with Aella, though I must admit I've never laughed quite so hard before until she did that to him. If only I could have seen it for myself," Vy sighed, a smile pulling back his long lips and revealing his very large, white teeth before he sobered and spoke again,

"If you haven't noticed, he does enjoy a woman's company. Any woman for that matter. But with Aella, I feel it's a little bit different this time. I guess only time will tell."

It wasn't long before a very small purple dragon came bounding up to the rooftop, flapping his wings quickly to keep in the air as he went. Then the little thing introduced himself as Sedrik and promptly went and settled on Vy's long head. Vy rolled a deep silver eye upwards to try to see the little creature that had made his perch. Then he lay his head down and laughed softly.

"I'm Vy, little Sedrik. This one next to me is the elf's dragon, Deimos. Who do you belong to?"
City Laowlee

The council meeting had gone well. King D'earl denied that his city had anything to do with the attack on Skyfall. Thane had sat in the shadows of the council room, watching and listening to the exchange. Queen Fae didn't believe him and though her tone had stayed the same throughout the entire meeting, the Warlock was sure that she had an underlying threat. So, Thane had slowly inserted himself into the conversation. What did Laowlee have to gain by attacking a neutral city? Why would King D'earl threaten the already timid peace that the three cities had recently put into place?

Thane's soft questions had put the Queen back several paces, and she could only stumble over her words as she tried to figure out a different approach. Thane had smiled at her gently as she struggled, all the while enjoying her squirming in the seat surrounded by several of his men and the oblivious King. Now, Thane stood on the balcony of one of the King's rooms that were given to council members. His metal clad hand twisted with the leather clad one. His hood up, covering his sensitive eyes against the light of the rising sun. It had been three days since the beginning of his crusade. The more that died, the more power he could feel being siphoned to him.

"Thane," the same feminine voice called him again. He didn't answer the call, only turned his body slightly to look over his shoulder at her. The woman moved out onto the balcony, "They are in place."

He smiled, "Give the word."

Aella looked up at Raiyn and smirked, fully awake now. "Who would save you from your injuries if I didn't? I'm in. Just say the word and I'll be in the sky." she teased him before smiling at Drake. "It'll interesting with you and the boy to worry about now... And I'm sure Deimos wold love to let you ride. He may look small but he's as powerful as any other dragon out there." she said, assured in her dragon's abilities. She had good reason to be, she made sure Deimos was that strong and his good breeding helped.

"Before we leave, I'll need to replenish supplies..." she muttered before making a mental list of everything she would need from her basic potions to more bandages. Clean water is a must too... She turned to an Assassin and like the leader would, ordered everything she needed to be pack in the bag she left in the makeshift clinic. He nodded and got her everything, even bringing the bag to her and bowing. "I'm not that scary... Am I..?" she murmured before looking through the bag. Among the bottles and rolls of gauze, there was a small pouch of coins and a note. A small smile made its way onto her face.

"Maybe they're not all bad..."

"Meh, you can't treat 'em all the same. After all, Raiyn's very nice..."

"Shut it, Deimos... Or you'll see on the floor..."

~+~

Deimos snorted. "Oh I can tell... Though I don't understand why it's Aella... Okay maybe I can but she kinda charms everyone... But as you said, we'll only tell with time." he rolled onto his back and stretched his legs out. "I'd rather not give her another reason to hate swordsmen so let's hope this ends well..." Then he noticed the little purple dragon.

"Sun? It's nice enough... Though, sleeping next to your friend during a cold day is a close second to the warmth..." he muttered, scratching his back against the roof.

Drake sat in front of Raiyn on Vy's large neck. They were nestled comfortably between two of his very large spikes, a simple piece of heavy leather draped around the dragon's neck to keep his scales from tearing his riders legs apart. Silver wings beat hard against the air, keeping them aloft. To Raiyn, the ride was comfortable, bobbing up and down in the air. He wondered how Drake was fairing though, sickness could come easily when flying. It was like being on a ship in the middle of a storm, but only this time, there was no water to stop your fall.

Laowlee loomed in the distance, the peeks of towers and houses reaching up to cover the horizon. The Assassin took a deep breath as they covered the distance quickly. It was only another hour flight and the city was beneath them. Vy turned his large silver head to look down into the streets. Earlier that day before they left, Vy had told Raiyn that he didn't want any of them landing in Laowlee until he'd flown over it a few times. The dragon could see into the city streets clearly from the height they were at. It had taken some time, but Raiyn had finally agreed to his dragons decision. Both dragon's whirled around the city several times.

"Anything?" Raiyn asked, growing uneasy as his dragon continued to fly and not showing any signs of lighting on the dragon perch to drop off his passengers. Vy didn't reply, only circled tightly around the same area he'd been over for the past ten minutes. Raiyn looked over to Aella on her smaller dragon.

"Raiyn, give Drake to Aella!"

Before the Assassin could ask why he needed to do such a thing, several cries from very angry dragons filled the air. Magic shot right past Vy and Raiyn. The Assassin covered the boy, keeping him from harms way as Vy veered sharply avoiding the initial attack. Black dragons dived at them from the higher peaks that were behind the city's walls. Then Vy did a maneuver that Raiyn wasn't ready for, the dragon flipped over to catch an oncoming attack. Being upside down wasn't so bad, and Raiyn had grabbed Drake tightly and held onto the leather with his free hand while tightly squeezing his legs to stay seated. However, when the black dragon collided with Vy, it shook Raiyn's shaky hold and he and Drake fell.

The Assassin's breath was taken away as he plummeted to the city below. He held Drake tightly, hoping the boy would pass out before they hit, lessening his pain. Raiyn spotted Aella's dragon diving for them, but she wasn't fast enough. A dragons roar caught his attention and he reached for his long knife as a huge black talon stretched out and snatched them from the air. Their fall was quickened as the black dragon brought them down into the city. A few feet from the cobble stones and the creature let them go. Raiyn hit the ground hard, a sharp cry echoing his pain. The dragon landed behind them, destroying several buildings and sending people screaming into the streets.

He let go of Drake, rolled onto his stomach and pushed up onto his hands and knees, "Are you alright?"

A sickening growl filled the air from the dragon as it reared backwards and then opened its maw. The glow of fire at the back of its mouth alerted Raiyn and he leapt for Drake, dragging the boy down to the ground as the creature ignited several buildings around it. Heat spread across his back from the fires behind him. The Assassin looked towards the destruction. People were on fire as they ran into the streets, screaming.

"Vy!"

"It's them, Raiyn. The 'True Dragon's'," the silver dragon growled.

"Come on," Raiyn said pulling the boy to his feet. As they stood, the dragon continued to set fire, and from the flames, several black cloaked men filled the streets, following the citizens that lived. The Assassin drew his weapons and charged into the fight.

Aella was cruising beside Raiyn and Drake, quite content, heard the slam of another dragon into Raiyn's dragon. The two went to dive for them but just barely missed them. Aella sword"By the Gods! Deimos! You got it up here?" her dragon roared and began flying faster, closer to the ground to lessen the amount of magic she would need to pull this off.

"Ael, I was born ready!"

"Stay safe, scale head!" And with that Aella jumped off of the dragon's back, two seconds before Deimos began clawing at a larger black dragon's eyes. Aella freefalled for a bit, the wind blowing off her hood before calling water to catch her. The water did as she commanded and before she could even land, she was raining arrows on the True Dragons. Instinct lead her as she began her hunting, only she was the cornered prey this time.

Whenever a black cloak came near her, she slammed the bow into their temple, the bow used to taking such hits. She moved across the field towards Drake, Raiyn and that large dragon. She kept her aim true as she fired shots dangerously close to both Raiyn and Drake, hitting the guys past them. She didn't bother with the dragon at the moment, keeping the more prominent threat of getting hit with a spell at bay. She also used water to put out the screaming people and tend to them, but only when she wasn't surrounded by magic users.

Deimos was diving bombing the much bulkier dragons, who had trouble keeping up with his lighter, smaller form. They slammed into the ground, almost painfully. Deimos made sure to use his flames to keep the faster ones at bay. He has a couple light claw marks from where he was too careless or too occupied with other dragons to notice the sneak attacks. Many just dropped out of the skies from their bonded ones dying.

Dragon and elf moved in sync, both twisting and flexing. It was beautiful really, unless you were on the receiving end.

Lavender,wake up. Wake up,immediately, Please.
Odessa's voice cried out through Lavenders still tired mind.

Slowly Lavender openend her eyes. When she realized that she was unfamiliar with the area she was in she stood up from the bed at an almost scary speed.
Standing up at such a speed ended up being a bad idea since she coughed up blood the moment she stood straight. The blood dripped all over her hands and she couldn't help but think, that's gross. She never had any trouble with other peopel their blood but couldn't help but think of her own blood as disgusting. That trair of her was everything exept ideal at that moment since coughing wasn't the only way she was loosing blood. She felt how a warm liquid flowed out of her ear in a small stream. She sighed. This was only the second time that she had used the Feared Punishment spell. But the internal injuries that the spell had caused were a lot worse then the first time. She had learned the spell by going into the forbidden part of her masters library. In the speel book had stood all instructions on how to do the spell but their had also stood that the spell shouldn't be used by anyone who had less than thirty years experience in using magic. The punishment for stepping all over that rule was bigger than she had expected.

Odessa? How long have I slept?

It was yesterday that you used the spell so I would say one and a half day.
Odessa's seemed happy by hearing the voice of her bonded one

Two days it is. The bleeding have started sooner as last time. Back then it took four days before I started bleeding. Could you tell me where I am?
She said feeling the upcoming urge to rest again.

For a moment Odessa was silent like she wasn't sure if she should tell Lavender or not.
You are at the Assassin Guild V'lyn.

Now the silent one was Lavender.
She was a place so famous. It kind of left her...Stunned?
She wasn't quite sure what she felt fear, suprise or just plain curiosity?
That's ......Something.

Slowly she felt the urge to rest again she had previously felt take over.
And she layed down again before she would sank through her knees once again.
Odessa,I need to rest again so that my magic can concentrate itself on healing my organs. It will probably take a few more days but I will wake up normally again from now on.
Please go help the one who helped me and lend me this bed.

Alright Laven, you just concentrate on getting better.
Odessa let out a slight sigh. "You heard her Master.Well, you didn't but hear her but I told you everything she said so, Could you transport me to ehm, where did you say they had gone to?"
Lavender's Master smiled at his pupil's dragon. "Laowlee, child,I will send you there. I predict you shall find some trouble there but you will be fine."
"You know,It's kind of creepy how you now things like those people their location without taking even a single step out of your house."
The old man laughed. "It's a gift,Your bonded one has this gift too,but she doesn't realize it. Well of you go."
He raised his arms in one smooth movement and once again said the word Subvectio. The dragon winked once with it small eyes before it found itself in a completely different place, also back in it's original size. Odessa found herself surrounded by black dragons and the ones who supposedly had saved her most importnant person. "That old bastard really doesn't cut me any slack, does he? Sending me off to the middle of the battlefield. Well,at times like this I'm glad that i'm on of the larger dragons."

With a big swipe of her claw she hit the jaw of one of the black dragons who had already noticed her,Though it was hard to not notice her with the size she had. She felt the jawbone of the dragon break under the hit. Ouch, that hurts she thought to herself. Odessa turned around to th eones who ha dhelped her master. "My bonded one asked me to help you zince you helped her. If I my I shall explain the details later. For now I'll help you in your battle."

"Alright lets go." Drake followed Raiyn to his dragon. Sedrik fluttered over to his shoulder from the larger dragon's head. The silver dragon reared up and took off into the sky with such speed. Drake was thankful for living on a boat his whole life or else he would have been heaving chunks the whole ride to Loawlee. Instead he spread his arms like he was flying. "WOOOHOOO! This is amazing! Sedrik you need to hurry up and grow large enough so i can ride you."

"Sure I'll get right on that. the purple dragon mocked. Drake was having the time of his life riding Vy until all of a sudden black dragons everywhere. Vy took a dive and Drake started to fall until Raiyn caught him. "Woah, Whats happening? Why are we being attacked?" Before his question could be answered a black dragon threw Raiyn, Drake, and Sedrik off of Vy and onto the cobblestone below. "Are you alright?" Raiyn asked. "Never better" Drake answered

A big black dragon swooped down and Raiyn had just enough time to cover Drake before the dragon began spitting plumes of fire. Once Raiyn stood back up Drake did the same while taking out his pistol. Raiyn charged into battle and Drake aimed and shot a few of the oncoming men in black robes. "Let me at 'em! I want to tear out their throats and piss on their eyes!" Sedrik yelled trying to flutter into battle before Drake grabbed him and shoved him in his vest. "Dont move."

Drake shot another man then another and aimed for a third but before he could get a shot off an arrow pierced the man's head. Drake looked back to see Aella joining the fight and was relieved she was OK.

Turning his head away he caught a man in a robe nearly on him. He unsheathed his sword cutting the man's neck then sliced again cutting through another's chest. Drake aimed for a third but was pushed back by magic, flying a few yards and hitting the hard road with an "Oof". His vest opened in the process and Sedrik flew out attacking the man, clawing out his eyes and blowing tiny puffs of smoke at the man. Drake stood from the daze and shot the man in the chest while he was distracted.

"Did you see that?! I killed him!"

"Sure you did, runt."

"Pirate!"

Drake shot two more before heading back over to Raiyn. "So what's the plan? Kill robed men all night?"

City Skyfall

The doors opened and the large outcast walked into the room. Two Assassin's met him, one with her hood up over her face and red cloth covering her mouth, the other dressed in red and gold cloth much like V'lyn had always been dressed in. The man dressed in red and gold took a few steps forward, approaching Rayma.

"Raiyn V'lyn left this for you," the Assassin said in soft tones. He handed the larger man a piece of paper. The writing inside was simple:

Rayma,

Come to Laowlee if you can.

Raiyn

The Assassin watched Rayma for a moment before speaking again, "My dragon is willing to take you where ever you need to go."

City Laowlee

"No," Raiyn answered Drake's question shortly. He wasn't there to kill black cloaks all day, he was there because he needed information. The problem was that the True Dragon's had chosen a terrible time to start trouble. If the other cities were confused, they would be even more confused now that Laowlee was seemingly under attack by their own people. He only hoped that his message to Queen Fae had made it in time and she would be wise enough not to launch a full out attack on the other cities.

Raiyn ducked a swing of one of the True Dragon's blades. As he came up, he shoved his long knife through the mans stomach until the point of the blade came through his back. Pushing off the dead man, he twisted around, ducking low and tripping another of the black cloaks. Raiyn used his forward momentum to pounce on the man and drive his blade through the others neck. He rolled off to the right as a swipe of long claws just barely went over his back. The Assassin looked up into the eyes of a very large black dragon.

The one that had taken him and Drake down into the streets no less. It growled at him, showing yellowed teeth and a forked tongue. The dragon snaked out its neck to wrap around the Assassin, nearly trapping him in a tight circle. Raiyn glared at the beast, waiting for the opportunity to strike. It struck out fast, jaws snapping at him. The Assassin barely got out of the way in time, throwing himself into a roll underneath the lowered neck of the beast. The dragon began moving, trying to get Raiyn back out into a spot where it could attack him. Raising his daggers, he drove them as far as he could into the thick neck of the creature.

Rearing back in pain, the dragon screamed, its wings snapping out and sending a hard rush of air down into the streets. The wind blew dirt and debris all around as the dragon danced backwards, thrashing about and tossing it's head up and down in pain. It only took it a moment to recover, and the beast was growling in rage at Raiyn as he backed away.

"Drake, find Aella, get to the palace," Raiyn ordered the young boy, trusting that the pirate could do so without fail.

"Get down, Raiyn!"

The Assassin took off at a dead run towards a building and threw himself up onto a pile of rubble to get to the top. He was just in time as Vy came crashing down with a black dragon underneath him. With the dead dragon dispatched, Vy turned to the one that had tried to kill his companion. Raiyn took one look at his dragon before running across the rooftops to make faster time getting to the palace. The silver dragon had blood all over him, his jaw especially was black and dripping with it. Raiyn ignored the gruesome image and continued on.

Down in the streets below, the men in black cloaks fought with the citizens. Many of the people in Laowlee were seasoned warriors, people who had seen their fair share of steel riding against steel. More than Raiyn ever had probably. His being young, and less skilled made his purpose to seek out what the cult was all about, a whole lot more difficult. For the third time that day, he hoped that Rayma had gotten his note and would find him soon. He was going to need as much help as he could get, and Rayma could teach him more than the Assassin's ever could.

As Raiyn took a jump between buildings, a black cloak materialized out of thin air in front of him. He dropped down, sliding to the left of the man and letting his blade slice into the enemies leg. Cloth, leather and skin tore. The True Dragon swore and dropped, clutching his leg. Raiyn turned over onto his stomach, pushing with his boots to stop his sliding and rushed the man while he was down. Putting the dagger across the man's throat he pulled back and leaned forward so his mouth was near the True Dragon's ear.

"Why did you attack?"

"It is our cleansing," The man replied angrily.

"No. Why do you attack the people?"

"You are not a True Dragon."

Raiyn's eyes narrowed and he pulled the knife harder across his throat. The True Dragon laughed, the sound was that of a man who had lost his mind to utter lunacy. Raiyn was taken aback by the sound, anger at not getting anything from his captive, he drew the long knife across the man's throat, ending his life in a pool of blood. The Assassin stood, his chest heaving from the long run and from his anger.

"You are becoming a problem," the familiar, scratchy voice mocked behind him. Raiyn's heart jumped, his eyes widened and he whirled around in time to take a blast of black magic right into his chest. Flung right off the rooftop, he landed hard into the midst of people fighting in the streets and fire. Boards of a broken house flew all around him as he landed in the wreckage. Hot copper in his mouth splattered his face as he coughed. Damn... magi... he thought as he struggled to get to his feet.

The moment he stood he was facing the True Dragon who had shot him off the building. Clawed fingers wrapped around his throat, power humming through the air. The man smiled at him, the hollow skin stretching in a sickening way across thin bones. Dark eyes glittered from sunken eye sockets.

"You wish to know why we attack? Why we kill? I'll show you, personally."

"Raiyn!"

City Crystacia

"Did you hear? News from Skyfall. The Assassin's guild has been crushed!"

The gossip of the town was centered on Skyfall. Sage had been listening to it for two days. It was growing bothersome, the more she heard the more uneasy her and Rin became. The latest that she'd heard was all about the Assassin's guild and the letter that Queen Fae had gotten. Some say that the guild was destroyed, others say that there were some survivors. Refugee's from the city were coming to Crystacia in search of shelter, and many of them spoke of black cloaked men destroying everything in their path. Sage wasn't sure what to believe. She had seen the messenger as she'd flow over Crystacia that morning. He had looked pale and worn from his flight.

"It's funny what people will make up to keep things interesting," Rin said.

"They could very well be right on track too, Rin."

"They could, but I doubt it."

Sage bit at her lip and twisted a lock of blue hair in her fingers. She was tired of sitting in Crystacia waiting for something to happen. With a heaved sigh, she started towards the cities gates. She wanted to find out herself what was going on. Listening to gossip and half truths wasn't getting her anywhere and the more she stayed, the more Rin became distressed. Something was going on and she wanted to know what it was.

"We're going to Skyfall, Rin. I want to see for myself."

"Drake, find Aella, get to the palace,"

Aella grabbed the boy's hand and began tugging him to the palace. "Come on, Drake! We gotta move! Leader's orders!" Deimos came down from the sky and she quickly pulled her and Drake onto his back and they took off. Deimoss quickly flew into the fray, dodging and weaving through the dragons that were still fighting.

"Ael! We can't get close to the castle, not on me at least!" Aella cursed in elvish.

"Get us in as close as you can without getting killed. I'd rather not have to mourn my best friend today." Deimos merely nodded and landed before the castle gates. "Thanks. I'll see you after all this. Keep that moron Raiyn safe."

"Aye, aye!" Deimos roared and took off again, back to where they'd come from. Aella nodded at Drake before running into the castle. She only hoped Raiyn got here in time.

City Skyfall

Sage felt the presence rather than saw it first. In a fluid motion she drew her bow off her back, knocked an arrow and pulled the string back to her nose, her gaze settling down the shaft and at the presence that she felt. The aura was dark, twisting in the shadows of the fires that still burned in the streets. It didn't move, though, and didn't look like it meant to move for some time. The elf watched, curiousity fueling her instead of her immediate reaction. Slowly she let down, and aimed the arrow to the ground between her feet.

"And what do you think that is, Rin?"

"Can't say for sure, but it's in the form of a woman. I've never seen anything quite like it before."

"Do you think it's... safe?"

"I'm not sure."

"You're such a great help, Rin..." Sage said sourly, rolling her eyes skyward.

Rin huffed in reply, "Whatever you say Sage."

"Hey there, what are you doing just standing in the street? It's still not safe!"

Sage turned to the voice, her eyes softening as she saw three people moving into the street. Two of them were carrying baskets full of debris as they were trying to clear an area, the third had his hand on a sword and was addressing her.

"What do you mean?"

"They could still be here!"

"Who?"

"The black cloaks, they call themselves the True Dragons. Bastards nearly sacked Skyfall! Come, girl, you can't just stand around here all day. Who know's when they'll come back," he held his hand out towards her.

Sage turned fully to look at him, "What makes you so sure they'll come back?"

"They were talking about a cleansing, they didn't finish. Thanks to V'lyn and his Assassin's, may Reina put his soul to rest, they saved the city from further destruction."

"V'lyn? Where can I find him?"

"He's dead, girl."

Sage sucked in a deep breath, "Where can I find the Assassin's?"

The man shrugged, "Not many of them left, and those who are still alive left Skyfall already."

"Don't worry about me, sir, I'll be fine. I'll find my way," Sage smiled at him and turned to face the shadowy aura that hadn't left yet. The man hadn't seen her, or he just didn't notice. Being human he might not have had the senses to pick up on the woman. Sage started towards the figure as the three men left her in the street.

"You're an interesting one," Sage said, addressing the darkness directly, "Don't suppose you know anything do you?" The elf smiled.

City Laowlee

Taking the steps two at a time, Raiyn reached the double doors of the palace shortly. With the doors wide opened, he was sure someone had already entered, or left. One of the two. He hoped that Aella and Drake were inside. With his long knives in hand, he rushed the doors and pushed inside. It was dark inside, utterly quiet and the air was heavy and still. The Assassin looked around, slowing his steps as he let his eyes adjust. He moved forward, a set of stairs looming up ahead, their shadowy outline wavering in and out with firelight that flickered on the second story.

From the darkness, sounds of fighting reached his ears. A sharp laugh echoed as well and the feeling of magic pierced the air. The familiar sound of shattering wood came next and from the second story two bodies came crashing down. Raiyn's throat clenched as he recognized the mop of yellow hair that belonged to Drake and the slender form of the elf Aella.

"I'm so happy you could join us, Assassin's. Enjoy the darkness, it will be your last," the feminine voice called from the top floor.

Raiyn rushed towards Aella even though there was a shout not to do so. The shadows writhed, moving to cut off his advance. The firelight danced above, making it hard to discern what was shadow and what was devil. The woman laughed over head. Raiyn glowered, lowering his body into a defensive position and preparing for a fight. The first shift of shadow to attack him came faster than he was ready for. Sharpened claws cut right across his chest, knocking him backwards.

"Raiyn! This is magic! Remember what Rayma said, you've got to relax, calm yourself."

He ducked another swipe, twisted his body and avoided another. His long knife lunged forward with his momentum and cut into the shadows. They parted, fading away into nothing more than flickering darkness across the wall. Raiyn felt his anger driving his actions rather than pure instinct. He came up from his dodging and thrust the blade into another shadowy apparition. Turning he met the claws of another, this one tearing at his neck and shoulder.

For a quick lesson, calm your emotions and soul. You are bound to your Scales [your dragon] and with that comes an inherent, albeit minor use of mana. You focus on your dragon in times of need when magic is cast against you, and you can avert it with your own mana. A simple deflection is all you need...

The Assassin reeled backwards, avoiding another slice of dark claws. He took a deep breath, trying to steady his breathing and his anger. Dropping low he twisted, fingers reaching into his clothing to get two throwing knives. When they came free, he launched the projectiles at the shadows. Both hit their mark, dissipating the enemy threat. Raiyn lunged forward, his knife leading and he ran it through another beast of the dark. Overhead the laughing slowly stopped. The woman was obviously sensing the threat from the room down below.

"The more we kill, the more the true God gains life. Your efforts are futile, Assassin. He will be raised and he will crush you!"

The air became stuffy, hard to breath as it heated. Raiyn knew to take it as a sign of some very powerful magic being readied to cast. He looked up at the balcony, his gaze catching that of a woman in black leather. Both her hands raised. The darkness was swirling between her palms, a wicked grin on her pale face. Raiyn felt his heart jump and he looked for Aella. Just as he was about to call her name, the witch above them released the power.

The words rang in Rayma's ears of his leader, yet he wouldn't register them at all at this time. The thought of Rayma being equal to a human was beyond his grasp and own mortality. All his life he was taught, trained, and learned that he wasn't anything more than a servant, a peon, a goat among shepherds. Down-trodden and outcast from the very beginning, one learns to rely on themselves and the combative training that had been forced upon him. Raiyn had taken a hold of his hands upon the beat-up, hand-me-down sword and tried to reveal the symbolism of being on the same level as Rayma. No matter what the cause or reason, the guardianship was accepted and the two stood as the youth gained knowledge of the surrounding areas.

Rayma was on the heels of Raiyn the entire way, keeping the pace of his injured master until they'd entered the palace walls. It was evident of the darkness within the place from the moment that they'd entered. The clouds of evil loomed within the glorious edifice and attack happened without hesitation from the moment that they'd come. The enemy had known of them and were now awaiting -- cover was blown and Raiyn rushed in to attack full-out, giving Rayma a moment to watch how he moved and worked. It was hard to witness without being objective, but Rayma's eyes narrowed, watching how hard the youth was trying. "Focus!" Rayma hollered. The claws striking at the young assassin, who wielded his wit and weapons as though they were foam and straw. Hit after hit, Rayma sighed, allowing the young leader to take his beating, knowing that at any moment, he could have stepped in if things had gotten too tenacious and too much for the learning youth.

From overhead, cackling echoed throughout the high ceilings. The grating sound of nails on a chalkboard brought the outcast's attention skyward to find a woman gathering her energies. She was evil, powerful, and definitely had the upper hand in this situation and the impending feeling that grew within his soul preached that the attack she was soon to launch would surely kill Raiyn. Fire with fire. Gripping his fist tightly, Rayma snarled, bearing edged teeth to the heavens above and jerking his arm back behind to his lower flank. Opening his hand, the mana pooled into a condensed ball of flame and inertia and when the dark woman above launched her attack, Rayma's arm spasmed with power. Flexing violently, the glow accumulated was hurled upwards into the core of the blast.

With a few steps, Rayma was next to Raiyn and the connection of the two energies was cataclysmic. Their clash resounded in the drowning reverberation of a church bell, filling the hall and shattering the windows cleanly out of the building. The clap of energy caused a soundwave which cracked the upper balcony that the woman was upon and crushed pillars which stood throughout the church. A brilliant flash of light preceded the explosion, which spat flames throughout the entire court hall to rain over everything. Rayma looked down over Raiyn, his towering height and size was brutish and with arms out, he protected those near him with a snarling cry, "DRAKON SHIELD!"

A pale crimson energy, which looked like wings from the back of Rayma expanded across their crew. They breathed and flapped like wings of pure energy and when the flames came down against them, they boiled and rolled, fanning back upwards and rolling like a sheet being spread across a bed. The impact however was brutal. The explosion brought debris from the ceilings which rolled off the defense and when all was settled, the barrier fluttered along with Rayma's consciousness and the assassin fell to his knees, eyes rolling to the back of his head before falling into Raiyn. Laowlee Castle's main entrance had nearly been destroyed, but both parties had suffered greatly.
