Amos

Not enough.

0 · 371 views · located in The Rend

a character in “The Rend”, as played by MisterMagicMuffin

Description

Full Name: Amos Ringo Maximillian Montana

Nicknames/Aliases: Grey Devil. The Huntsmen, Cool Hand A.

Age: 42

Gender: Male

Species: Gifted

Original Canon: Post Apocalypse

Description: Amos is tall, lean, and mean. He prefers dull greys and browns to any other colour, which is reflected in his cloths. His torso is frequently covered by a grey shawl that drapes down to his upper thighs. A brown, wide brimmed hat keeps his face, safe from the sun. Below his waist, and gun belt, he wears leather armour of sorts, with smooth metal placed in strategic places within the leather. He has two revolvers slung low and tied down to his thighs, and a third sits in a holster crossed over his stomach, in a gunslingers clutch. His hair, medium length and swept back, contains strands of grey and white, marking his age. His face doesn't show his age, despite the random placement of scars on his skin. He is enhanced via cybernetics, but nothing is obvious from a first glance. His right eye does hold an unnatural red sheen around the iris, something one would notice if they studied him hard enough. Is always seen with a dull metal, cigarette sized metal cylinder in his mouth. It exudes smoke similar to that of a hookah.

Personality: Amos is a mercenary through and through, with a demeanor to fit the job.

Skills/Powers: Amos specializes in the use of revolvers, and has developed a martial art to optimize fighting with his three 45. single actions revolvers, his power is complimentary, albeit dependent on weaponry. Amos can re created any energy he has been exposed to, but only through a medium that can be used to launch projectiles. He can enhance his bullets, or even meld energy into the shape of the casing he should be using. His cybernetic enhancements are centered around survivability, with the exception of his right eye, which can read biometric signatures, natural gasses, and supernatural phenomenon via the electromagnetic spectrum.

Weaknesses: Is a close quarters combatant

Brief History: Amos is mum about his history. He is a mercenary now, but not always free to the highest bidder.

Other: A big fan of Hip Hop [/center]

So begins...

...Where’s Ocean?

What happened- I- where did she go? What just happened? What...wait.

How…? Characters...characters
don’t do this. Characters can’t do this! They can’t just- just get up and walk away from the Rend like this! That’s ridiculous! They- they can’t- but what if she did...

EVERYTHING IS GOING HORRIBLY WRONG.

N-no, it’s too early for everything to be
that bad, Rend! Sure, the gates just- just magically opened themselves, and sure, one of the characters just- just somehow left, but...but it’s fine! I can still do this! After all, every GM starts off rockily, right? They always have that one that ends up going all...like this, right? In fact, I’d say I’m doing decent, given the...uhm, the characters I picked up. And yeah, it’s my first one! Nothing to feel bad about! I just need to, uh, start things now. Intervene.

”Okay, everyone! I- well, one of your fellow...people just ended up leaving, but...but don’t worry, alright? I’m pretty sure that no one else can do that, but- but I probably have to make sure, uh...Heh. Sorry! B-before I do anything like that, though, I just want to go ahead and clear up a few things. Actually, uh, y’know. Do my job and all.

“Well, I just want to go ahead and clarify that
nobody is supposed to kill anyone here. Yep! Haha, yeah, no, uh, trying to cut people in half, shoot someone in the head, noooope. In fact, you’re actually doing the exact opposite of what I wanted, if you can believe that! Weird, right? Heh. Basically, uh, I’m going to send you all out to do these amazing missions! Fun, right? You’ll be explorers of a new world, and you can fight evil monsters and things like that! Everything you could want, I’m sure- but, uh, still, no killing the other people here? You’re supposed to form a nice little group down there, and, uh, not supposed to attack everyone else? In fact, you guys will actually, ehm...get...punished if you do anything like this again! Scary, right? Nobody wants that. And you’re also supposed to protect each other, too, so if you don’t do that, you’ll...Also get punished!

“Now, now, I know what you all must be thinking- ‘But Rend, you sound like some evil god trying to watch us all suffer!’ I would also like to clarify that I am neither a god, demon, daemon, daedra, angel, death, Gifted, or anything like that. You guys are
not, in fact, in hell. But I do have to be a bit strict in things, however, since you all are so...uh, violent? And because one of you just suddenly up and left, but, anyway. Let me just, uh, clear my throat here…”

Suddenly, several of the characters found themselves feeling...well, not as absurdly strong. Got to even the playing field and all that, but, eh-hehm. Don’t want to end up causing more trouble, but, uh, the ones with the most skills and powers and magical stuff ended up with less. Like Rasteva, and Eze- mainly because I’m just kind of worried about how far this will, uh, escalate, if they’re so strong...Uhm, and, uh, the other ones who triggered the problems, um, got less strong somewhat, too, and, uh, yeah. Less power. Of course, not planning on, uh, taking away from those who need the power, but yes. Weakened somewhat. This is both punishment and to make sure nobody else escapes.

“Now, I’m going to remove the lava and, uh, other things right now. And open the gate properly. I expect for all of you to get along at this point, or else, you know. Punishment. Have fun!”

With that, all obstacles that had been placed outside the arena vanished, and the gates began to open once more…

Adira Hasidare

As Adira stood and moved to walk towards the others, Rend's omnipresent voice rang out, sounding rather flustered (which was odd if this being was trying to play god). However he managed to bumble his say through explaining that not only were they not supposed to kill each other (which was a relief) but that they would be "punished" if they tried. This coming from the being that summoned lava sharks and giant spiders because Adira opened a gate, she was not eager to find out what his concept of "punishment" was.

More than that though, they were all supposed to work together to go on this heroic quests he'd supposedly be assigning them. Looking at the others Adira couldn't help but to wonder exactly how thoroughly Rend had thought this through. If he'd intended for everyone to get along and work together, he probably shouldn't have chosen a group of people from opposite sides of an active war. She also noted that, while everyone else was exceptionally powerful, she was somewhat on the weaker side which would make it rather difficult for her to keep up with them on their missions.

This thought was addressed a moment later when Rend said:

As he said this a strong gust of wing blew through the arena and past- no, through- the bodies of the characters. She saw many of the more powerful beings sway as the wind blew through them, appearing to have been significantly weakened (especially that fairy who seemed to have just caused a hurricane on a whim). However when the wind reached Adira she felt... well, the same actually. Nothing seemed to have happened to her. Too bad.

However as she glanced over at Fell she could see that he was equally confused, the scales on his back rippling oddly as if his muscles were sore. There were strange lumps under the skin that hadn't been there before. They bore a resemblance to young adult Fanghur who were in the first stages of wing development, however Fell had not reached that age so Adira quickly scratched that off her mental list of explanations. Before she could ponder any further, Rend spoke again.

“Now, I’m going to remove the lava and, uh, other things right now. And open the gate properly. I expect for all of you to get along at this point, or else, you know. Punishment. Have fun!”

At these words the gate did open, the monsters and lava having disappeared. Adira looked at Fell but he stared back at her in equal confusion. "Well, I guess we know why we're here..." she said slowly, still trying to process all of this, "If we're all supposed to work together like some big, happy family then the first step would be to go meet everyone. And not pick a fight this time." Fell bobbed his head in agreement and Adira hesitantly started walking towards the group of now significantly weakened heroes.

"Hm?" He looked skyward, to wear the torrential downpour had fallen from the clouds, soaking the once dry ground of the arena turning the dry dust into a thick sludge, the kind that held your boots down with every step you take. Parting with a lonesome squelch as you tried to move. This wasn't nearly as interesting to Amos as the sky, which had immediately reverted back to it's arid heat. It was gone without a trace, just like the woman who he assumed called it. Lucky break in his mind. She skipped out right before this 'Rend' character depowered the loudest of them all. Served to make things more interesting for the leader he figured, which made things more interesting for them.

He shook himself off, each raindrop that landed on his gear flying aimlessly into the puddles below, absorbed by it's sibling liquid in an instant. The rain did little to quench whatever fire was causing the original two to argue, wings and fury over there. Political idealisms from the sound of it, mixed with some personal issues they had. Whatever, they could trade words neither listened to all they wanted. Long as they got moving.

Which a fella who looked a lot like him pointed out, by 'looked' Amos was references the dual revolvers, one shy of his trio, and cybernetic implants. All seen and studied through his right eye. His own differed in looks, as his enhancements were all internal, and linked with his biology in the subtlest of ways. A feat only accomplished by a faction that put the majority of their scientific weight behinds genetic enhancements and robotics.

"Ayup." Was the first word that came out of Amos's mouth. He decided to throw in with the other cyborg for now, less out of a sense of brotherly connection, and more because he was moving the group forward.

Amos suddenly spun around, his grey shawl freeing the last bits of moisture from its folds and sending them curving into a swirl that misted around his body as it moved. His revolvers, long barreled things balanced perfectly to fit his hands flashed from his two side holsters, they were single actions, requiring a quick thumb of the revolver to pull back so the hammer could fall and send the hot metal flying.

Hot being literal here, as each bullet that left was sheathed in white hot plasma, perfect for melting/shattering the faye ice that incased Rasteva's pole-arm.

"Can't leave a fella without his weapon can ya."

Amos paused before re holstering his weapons, waiting to see if any of them had gotten jumpy over the sudden onslaught of bullets. He didn't figure tensions were that high, but you never knew with some folk.

“Well, I have no fucking clue what a Shao is,” Stride said, the words rolling cleanly from her tongue, “and I ain’t really human, either.” These words came with a slight snort, as if she were speaking of an old joke shared with a longtime friend. Gripping her sleeve, the fighter rolled the fabric partway to her elbow, revealing the flesh beneath. While there was a fair amount of fresh, albeit pale, skin, there was a patchwork of scales littered haphazardly across her arm. They glistened brightly in the sunlight, reflecting some of the light into fractured patterns. Stride gave one area a light tap before quickly bringing it up once again, crossing both upper limbs across her chest. “I’m a halfer, ya could say.”

Idly, the woman eyed her company once more, gaze lingering on the gaping hole of Khojin’s cheek for a bit longer than necessary. “What ‘bout you? You’re, eh, kinda a new deal for me. ‘less you’re some sorta demon deal, there.” Stride gave a small rotation of her wrist, as if gesturing towards the whole of the girl before her.

Then, inevitably,

“Hey, ah, ya...do know ‘bout the…” Stride reached up, tapping her own cheek. “deal there, yeah? Want a band-aid or somethin’ for that?” While she wasn’t exactly squeamish, having a large part of your face ripped off tended to be painful, and being so uncaring of the opening there was a bit...off in the hybrid’s eyes.

Some distance away, she could see the weird armor guy- a lot shorter, from the looks of it- plant into the dirt, and hate to bite back her laughter. After all, when you’ve seen a guy try and cut someone in half for no reason other than “she annoyed me”, it was rather funny to see them knocked down a peg or two.

Literally.

She watched a bit longer as some cowboy began to shoot at the armor’s weapon before turning back, waiting expectantly for Khojin’s response.

Adira Hasidare

Adira took a small step forwards. For the most part it seemed that everyone had managed to reach an uncomfortable truce - this would have to be enough. "I hate to interrupt," she said evenly, addressing all those around her, "But it looks like the only way we are all going to get back to our own worlds-" her eyes flicked towards the noticeably small Rasteva who had just dropped her polearm, "-and back to our normal strength, is to go along with Rend's game."

"He said something about going on an adventure or whatever but, though he hasn't specified what this mission will actually pertain to, the first step would still probably be exiting the arena." Adira's eyes turned upwards. The light had been slowly but steadily moving across the sky whilst they'd been standing in the arena. "If we remain here too much longer, it'll begin to get dark. And, seeing as everything that makes up this world seems to be based on Rend's whims, there's no telling what creatures may travel under the cover of night."

"If we can get out of here before night falls, I can find a place for us to set up camp and see if I can trap anything to eat. If we're fortunate, Rend will tell us what exactly we have to do before he'll allow us to return." She pushed a hand through her hair, meeting the eyes of everyone in the little social-circle. "I also... apologize... for my rudeness earlier," there was a small strain in her voice, making it obvious that she rarely was one to apologize, though she didn't look away from their eyes. "I have no excuses as we are all on edge about this whole situation. However, I am as keen to return to my world as I'm sure you all are. So it may be in all of our best interests to hold a truce, at least until escape is a possibility." Fell nudged her hand and Adira blinked. "Oh, yes, and I am Adira. This is my Fanghur companion, Fell."

Adira Hasidare

"Fell did not receive a bag as everyone else did, and the food that is in mine is not suitable for him to eat long term. So even if you all have food that is fit enough for you I still need to go hunting." Adira answered simply, then made a general gesture towards all of them. "Take a good look around you. As far as I can tell, Rend didn't just make up all of this stuff on his own - he borrowed it from somewhere. Similarly to how he 'borrowed' us from our own worlds - and a considerable number of us your world world in particular, if I'm not mistaken." Her eyes wandered between Kora, Drake and the others that Fell had detected similar scents on (though Adira herself did not yet know their names).

"As for the design of this 'game', it's like a bunch of pieces from different puzzles that a child might've connected together. As far as I can tell regarding the rules and reasoning behind it all..." she offered a lame shrug, "I honestly have no idea. But so far he's make it clear we're to work together and complete a series of tasks which he will assign us. He has even opened the gate and removed it's guardians - which strikes me as a pretty clear indicator that it's his desire is for us to leave the arena."

Adira then looked up towards the sky, shielding her eyes against the slowly descending orb of light. "I don't know how long the day or night last in this place, nor do I know exactly how long we've been here thus far, but time seems to be moving along nonetheless." Adira looked back to the group, making sure to meet Kora's eyes, though her voice was level and lacking hostility as she continued on, "Which brings me to reiterate my previous point: it is unwise to be running around aimlessly in the dark, especially when you're in an unknown and potentially hostile environment. Therefore I am inclined to find somewhere to set up camp before the last of the light disappears."

Fell Vrangr

Meanwhile, Fell had taken an interest in this new kid who'd just jumped onto Drake's back and began talking fast enough to stun one of the faire folk. Where are we? Who are all of you people? Can I pet your dragon? Or like, ride it? I’m Skip the Third. Are we dead? Which afterlife is this? I kinda wanted to meet Cerberus ‘cause I’ve always wanted a dog that didn’t die and that’d be like having three dogs." Now Fell was a touch indignation that this new figure had just referred to him as a dragon, as he was most certainly not, but Fell was also much more understanding than Adira usually was about the misunderstanding. What truly perplexed him was not the hyperactivity this one displayed, but instead the strange scent that emanated from him. Though Fell had encountered many unfamiliar scents in his lifetime, this one was completely foreign to him. Like if dragonfire had engulfed an alchemist hovel. When Drake flew off (rather quickly, he noticed) Fell slowly moved closer to the yellow-eyed being, sniffing his leg in puzzlement.

Ma’am. While others might have chosen to correct what was, really, a completely honest mistake, Madison chose not to- at least, not for the moment. He hardly bothered these days until it was completely necessary for him to do so, and the young man had already flounced off before he could have the chance to do so. As such, the vampire merely blinked once, twice, thrice, then trailed after. It was rude not to answer a question, after all- especially when said question pertained to someone who had escaped captivity as easily as waving her wrist.

As soon as he was in proper earshot once again, Madison slowed to a stop, taking care not to plant himself in a puddle or anything of the sort (these heels had been expensive, after all!) before speaking. “I’m afraid that she didn’t tell me anything about getting out,” he admitted. “She was in a bit of a...rush to get out, you could say. All she gave me was a warning before- well, considering you saw her before she left, I’m sure you know what she did just now, too.”

The lie came naturally, the researcher not missing a beat throughout his words. While he was sure that this one wasn’t as...volatile as the others, he was still determined to keep the existence of the fairy’s presents hidden for the time being. With how the gathering had been acting, and how powerful the woman had shown herself to be, there was enough evidence to make Madison reasonably wary- or so he felt. Even if they decided to properly ally, there was still the chance they would attempt to use the capsules for more malicious purposes. So he simply decided to keep his lips sealed, absentmindedly adjusting his packs as he stood.

Soon enough, Madison seemed to realize something, and smiled brightly even if the other’s eyes were not on him. “I’m Madison, by the way; it’s nice to meet you.” Curious as to what had drawn the man’s attention, he peered over his shoulder, looking at the contents of the bag from where he was. A question had begun to form itself on his lips, although it was soon and suddenly replaced upon catching sight of a dog trotting up.

The question itself was delayed again as the vampire cooed at the canine, bending a little in order to pet its head.

Once he had remembered what he had been about to say, Madison raised his head, although he kept his eyes locked on the little beast for the time being. “Is she yours? She’s beautiful!” Although he typically disliked assumptions, the other had been rifling through a bag stuffed to the brim with dog treats and other miscellaneous objects, so there was at least some evidence to do so.

By the point that both Adira and Rasteva had spoken, he had lowered himself to the ground already, tucking his duffel bag beneath him so as to avoid getting himself wet. He appeared completely and utterly distracted by this point, so his sudden raising of voice seemed to only spring from nowhere at first.

“I have to agree with Kora on this, actually. After all, you two- such a cute little puppy- you two seem to be assuming that our host didn’t add in other challenges for us to deal with. This...being has been acting extremely erratically which leads me to believe that there may be some things that we can’t expect outside- I’m sure you all remember the sudden lava, after all. We have enough rations to feed all of us, I’m sure, and the gate can be barricaded…” He paused once again, moving to actually look back at the others.

“I would say that we should cast a vote. From what we’ve heard, we’re all a team, and if one of us ends up wounded, we’ll all end up punished one way or another. Shall we?”

After all, he was no leader. Calling a vote and conducting himself as if he was was only stir more tension, or so Madison believed.

It was with a sort of morbid fascination that the hybrid watched Khojin’s...tongue? loll from the massacred flesh, waving about in the open air for a long, uncomfortable moments. It was like watching a car crash- it wasn’t really the most pleasant thing to watch, but you just couldn’t tear your eyes away. It was only until the muscle was pulled back into the “Za Ri’s” mouth that Stride blinked, continuing to squint at the opening as if expecting it to suddenly start expelling beetles.

“That’s fucked up,” she muttered decisively, giving a short shake of her head. “Ya know, where I come from, ya don’t usually tear open someone’s face when you’re screwin’ ‘em. Least, we have a rule ‘bout that; ‘don’t stick your dick in crazy’.” Stride paused, giving Khojin another once-over. “Or, ya know. ‘Don’t let batshit insane stick its dick in ya.’.” The true rule of thumb, really, no matter the race or origin.

Adira’s words caused her attention to be drawn away from the weird horror-story shit she had just witnessed, and it was with a sense of disbelief that Stride listened to the dragon-rider boss everyone around. Her disbelief was only increased as the weird suit of armor chimed in, and, eventually, Stride began to chuckle just a bit louder than before.

“Look,” she said dryly. “I don’t care if you’re the princess where you’re from or whatever, but I can’t say I really wanna go jump off a cliff cause some magical armor and some kid told me there was a buncha pillows at the bottom of it. Hell, I could just be trippin’ by this point cause some asshole decided it’d be fun to slip some drugs in my drink, but I’m still not gonna just fuck off into the wilds like this.” Idly, Stride brought her gaze about in a circle, taking in the surrounding party.

“Just cause ya think the voice cut pieces from our worlds doesn’t mean everythin’s baby-proofed. For all we know, someone came from Monty Python, and there’s a buncha killer rabbits everywhere. There were fuckin’ lava spiders out there, ya know- and whose to say the voice might end up lettin’ one of us die off to make things interestin’?” Popping a stiffened joint in her neck, Stride let out a small sigh before continuing on.

“I’m votin’ that we just don’t follow the lead of the underdressed fifteen year old and Iron Man. Not sayin’ we hide in here forever, but we should at least find a place where we know there’s no poison dolphins or anythin’ like that.”

Absentmindedly, Stride took notice of the weird little glowing guy who had joined DoppleKora, but her attention did not focus for long on them. There were more important issues at hand, after all.

Khojin gave a very exaggerated look around the arena. "No poison dolphin's here," she commented, letting her duffle bag fall to the ground.

There was a point to what she said, of course; thus far none of the dangers claimed to be present in this world had appeared in the arena. Even the lava sharks had stopped at the gate, with one only passing the iron barrier when it was yanked in by a homicidal man encased in magic metal. This also seemed to be the only known location people had arrived at; wouldn't it make sense for the area to be warded against outside dangers? She said as much to the others.

"I mean, yeah, I could be wrong, but judging by our current track record this is our best bet," she waved up at the iron wires strung over the arena's mouth. "That's a good defense against anything from the air, an' the only t'restrial entrance is the gate, which we could probably close if needed. Or, failing that, drop Big Man Metal in the center of it. He seems reasonably impervious. Did you get smaller?"

She didn't notice before, but the suit of armor seemed to have shrunk several feet. Unfortunate. Still, her point remained. Oh, she almost forgot.

"Hey, jus' by the by, if we're s'pose to be a team wouldn't it be better to separate into groups?" she asked, lacing her fingers behind her head. "I mean, we'd be slower and attract more attention if we all jus' followed each other. Like, I dunno bout you guys but in my world travel in the Wastelands mandated groups no larger than four or five, unless you were lookin' to raid one of the Gaian settlements."

"Oh. And, uh, I'm Khojin. Not sure if we did introductions."

Azai had been enjoying a night's rest in his web just moments before and now he was falling... and falling... and falling. He wasn't a fly! He didn't have wings! How the hell did that ominous voice think that it was a great idea to have him spiraling down in the darkness like this? He had tried to use his webs to cling to something but this inky blackness had no ledge, branch, or ceiling. It was just emptiness. He did have a strange bag that appeared beside him but that wasn't helping him right now. He almost wished he was back in the mansion he despised. At least things there made sense! Why was it that he was the one that always got snatched away from his home and brought somewhere else? This was the second time, damn it! And this time, he hadn't even done anything to warrant his capture!

Suddenly, the shadow seemed to break open and spit the spider out and he continued to drop. The ground and people were fast approaching. "Ah!" he cried out a bit undignified as he landed on one of the creatures below. Both he and the stranger hit the ground hard though Azai had to admit, he was lucky this guy cushioned his fall. He winced and started to try and get to his feet but the damn bag dropped on his back then and he winced as he hit the man beneath him again. He groaned and shook his head, his dark strands falling against his pale skin. He looked up, his deep amethyst gaze catching a glimpse of the dog in front of him. He had never seen a creature like him before. His eyes widened as he got on his hands and knees, careful to actually use the ground as leverage instead of the man. He pulled himself off the stranger and dusted himself off, his gaze never leaving the strange four-legged beasty. He wondered how the creature's innards tasted like.

The black widow then realized there were others in the strange place he found himself. He tensed and crouched low. He gave a hiss and bared his fangs. He really didn't like meeting strangers as of late. The voice said he was in a different world, but was it really a different world or was the master of the house toying with him? Punishing him for biting that patron? He wasn't supposed to bite or harm the others after all but it really wasn't his fault the man kept poking his face. The guy was asking to be bitten. He didn't recognize anyone or anything here. And being out in the open like this put him at a disadvantage. His only true weapons in this situation were his fangs and claws but he couldn't take on all of these strangers. Some of them looked like their skin wouldn't be easily penetrated.

Khojin gazed up at the sky for a moment, considering. If she were alone, then sure, she'd go out no problem, probably get 20 malms by the end of the night. But with a group of... how many people were there? Here, Adira, Rasteva, the four or five from the same world, Stride, Lightning Hei-Senn, armor dude 2, white hair boy, girl with worse black clothing than her, Shao in the dress, a dog, and the new guy who apparently fell on... Who was that? Regardless, their number was easily around a dozen, far more than she felt comfortable travelling with.

She clicked her tongue and dropped her arms, swinging them a bit at her sides. "Fine. But I still think we should split into smaller groups. If Rend has somethin' he wants us to do, I'm sure he can organize it in stages. Besides, three of the others already bolted, so..." She flicked her finger to Stride, Rasteva, and Adira. "I call these three. If we do go with that idea."

She picked her bag back up and slung it over her shoulder. No use leaving it in the dust. She lifted her leg to begin walking before another thought struck her.

"Hey," she began, resettling her foot. "If we are s'pose to work with each other, shouldn't we know what everyone brings to the team?"

Skip III took Drake's failure to respond to his verbal jabs with pursed lips but unusual patience. There was so much going on to occupy his attention that he figured his unwilling foil could wait.

He listened to the exchanges, the tantrums, catching himself up on the situation, valiantly resisting the urge to run and pet Dog or Fell. Or Eze. Or anyone else with scales, feathers, fur, or tails. His patience held, for now.

Rasteva was saying something about showcasing skills.

First order of procedure when he was to be spending extended amounts of time with a new team... Skip checked his pocket. Still there. Probably not enough for everyone, but, he fished out the small plastic container and popped it open as he spoke.

"All right, I can spar," he volunteered, smiling at Stride broadly. He held up one of the small pills from the container and danced over to the masked woman to give her the gift. "I'll try not to produce any gamma rads, because ya know, nonlethal, but uh-- You should probably still have one of these. Actually--" He looked around, pouring the lot into his hand and beaming like nothing was at all alarming, "You should probably all have one." He passed one to Madison and the rest of the huddle by the puddle, smilingly giving Cain an extra for when their drowning victim recovered. To the man who had fallen from the sky, "Hi, I'm Skip the Third, you missed it. Welcome to not-the -afterlife. This'll keep you from getting thyroid cancer." One for Dawn. One for Amos. Not one for Drake. Drake came back to life. One for Makorai, with an apologetic edge to his smile because Skip knew Makorai was among the majority of Erubescans who avoided him like the apocalyptic plague he was. "Um no guarantees about other kinds of cancer. Except there's uh--not enough, but..." He counted the remaining iodide blockers. Three remaining. Everyone in the arena except Drake, Eze and Rasteva had now been handed a pill, and then there were the three scouts when they returned...

Skip looked at Rasteva. "Do you need one, Legion?" he asked, unsure about the suit of armor's mortality status.

He handed one of the remaining three to Ezenvare.
...And now he was so close. Whether or not it was offensive did not even cross his mind. He couldn't resist giving the reptilian man's scaley neck a pet.

The toppling of this mighty polearm was met with the same indifference he cast when shooting it free of it's prison of ice. Well, until he remembered that the ground beneath them was slick with rain, which would cause the mud beneath to rise from the ground and covered whomever was unfortunate enough to be standing next to it.

Amos's agility was perhaps prematurely highlighted when his backward maneuver took him backward some ten feet in a single motion. Rasteva's thanks were given a slow nod in reply. The gesture was understood by the multitude that inhabited the armour. He was placing his stake with the bolder in their number. Fortune favoured the brave and stupid, or it didn't. It didn't make a lick of difference to Amos. He didn't come here to walk like a dog with its tail tucked between it's legs. Not to say he wasn't cautious. He simply wanted to teste his mettle in a foreign world.

The conversations continued for a while longer, and new arrivals continued to phase into this stream of reality. One particularly slow one had been struggling in the slop. He imagined someone would help them. He didn't plan on making the effort to do so. Too many bodies on one task made it's completion difficult.

When the armoured one asked about powers, he stayed quiet, not out of fear per say, but the particulars were often hard to explain. "I can be useful." Was what he settled on, quiet enough to warrant the smallest of acknowledgement.

The prospect of sparring however, raised an interested eyebrow. Sparring would be interesting. He could cloak his bullets in concussive energy to make them non lethal. Perhaps.

Or perhaps later. Two of the people he had decided to travel with had already, joining one of the first.

"Sparring ain't a bad idea, but perhaps we should head out as soon as we finish and stake our claim 'fore we splinter off much more."

Amos turned to the eminent and took the pill he passed him with a nod.

"Ayup, thanks."

Amos the organic half-cyborg turned his red eye to this boy, in particular his insides, which practically /danced/ with the life rending energy that made Geiger-counters tic tic ticikty whenever it was around.

"Lookin' forward to a bit of sparrin'." Amos reached forward and gave the young man's shoulder a small squeeze and shake, both friendly. He didn't seem like the type who minded. If that sniper kids reaction was anything to go off of, folks were probably scared to touch him.

"Okay, sorry, my mistake," Skip said with an agreeable nod as Rasteva introduced themselves.

But he was lying.

Rasteva was Legion now. Once christened by Skip, the nickname was almost never to be revoked, a name stuck to the victim of Skip's friendship like chewing gum to a school girl's hair.

Plus. With the plural pronouns and third person address, it was too damnably fitting to pass up.

"And, um, it's not just fighting me. It's anyone who has to get in radius, if I have to cook anything. Or anyone. Or I could just...stand really far away. Which is what I'll probably haveta do once those wear off." His expression fell for a moment, but the thought of being alone couldn't hold up to the exciting novelty of the day and he was soon grinning again. "Anyway. I'll save these two for the scouts, I guess."

The young man pocketed the two remaining pills-- meanwhile positively beaming both at Eze's trick with the fin, and the staggering, to which Skip said, "Bit too much to drink, Scales?" and still entirely in the way one would talk to an animal, as most Projects Skip had seen with such inhuman characteristics tended to take on animal intelligence -- and beaming even brighter at Amos' rare moment of friendly physicality. People didn't usually seek out contact with Skip III unless they were wearing hazmat suits. Or were healers. Or were damage-tanking viking women with already short lifespans.

Speaking of...
three pills left again, as Kora handed him hers back. He gave a brief look at the thing and a nod and a short eye contact with an uncharacteristic amount of feeling.

"Anyway. I'll fight anyone who needs to fight somebody. I'll fight you, Legion. Or the Sundance Kid. Or any of you. Or both of you at once. Just don't accidentally kill me. Can I ride Scales?"

He adjusted his lemon yellow scarf and scampered to a free patch of ground, assuming a footready stance. Other than not dying, his qualms in a fight were pretty low. He couldn't feel pain and he was inhumanly quick, if not very strong. And he wasn't especially empathetic if he did end up causing some damage, so all the better.
