Name:
Jian Gui Longwei

Role:
Snake Ring

Real age:
606

Appearance:
Standing at 5 feet 6 with a slim figure, Jian appears to be a sickly young man in his early twenties - perhaps 19 or 20. His skin is pale and covered with different kinds of wounds, all appear to be inflicted by different kinds of weapons. He isn't, by any means, muscular though he is lean and fast. His movements are quick and decisive, never hesitant, and he never seems to doubt himself. His face is slightly feminine with long, dark turquoise hair tied into a high pony tail by a white cloth. On the left side of his face, there is a horrible scar. It is large and has an ugly shade of pink with a long scar that runs across the bridge of his nose. His eyes have a lighter shade of turquoise than his hair and they are hard and dark, always appears to be deep in thoughts and sometimes, his eyes are emotionless. He seems to be a very calculated person, a sneaky and sly, ready to strike if someone just drops their guards for a second. His lips are thin and pale, curling into a grim smile whenever he is displeased. Jian rarely smiles genuinely and only drops his guard when he's around his brothers. When he gives anyone a true smile, he appears to become much younger as his entire face will lit up with joy. Jian's voice is rough and slightly scratchy though that is mainly because he hasn't used them for who-knows-how-long. In the past, his voice was warm and filled with childish joy and dreams though now, it only contains a seriousness that doesn't quite suit his appearance.

Jian wears Chinese Style's clothes with light colors such as white or pale yellow and he absolutely hates it when someone tells him to get rid of his clothes. He is stubborn that way and he won't discard his clothes unless his Master/Mistress directly orders him to do so. If he is forced to wear modern style clothes, he always chooses to wear white or blue Chinese style shirts with casual pants, unable to endure the uncomfortable feeling that jeans bring.

Stages:
    1. He appears to be completely normal and in control of his own actions as well as thoughts.

    2. Growing fangs, Jian's actions become more snake-like and if someone moves too fast in his general direction, he will bite. However, in this stage, he is still aware of what he is doing and still capable of thinking rationally.

    3. He has snake scales and in this stage, he grows into a massive man with the impressive height - 7 feet tall. Relying his instincts more than his heart, Jian can even attack innocent people without proper guidance.

4 In this stage, the only thing Jian is still capable of doing is listening to his Master/Mistress and his brothers. His feet turn into a big tail and he is half-human, half-serpent. He continues to grow, reaching 15 feet tall now and becomes very bloodthirsty, always hungry for people to hunt down and devour.

5 Except his Master/Mistress' commands, Jian listens to nobody. Lashing out at everyone and everything that is too closed to him, Jian may even hurt his Master/Mistress. He is nearly a mindless beast now. His tail is huge and he is capable of curling around a small town and still be able to bite his tail. He is about 20 to 22 feet tall. On his back, there are fins. It is said that his gaze can turn a person to stone if they don't look at his eyes directly though there isn't anybody alive after encounter him to tell the tales.

Personality:
Prim and proper, Jian is extremely polite to the point of being robotic. He hates speaking with contractions, refers his brothers by their full names. It isn't that he is being distanced. It is a part of his personality and the others have gotten used to it by now. He addresses Nadine as 'Mistress', never calls her by her name. Because of this, Jian is very robotic and talks in a manner that nobody does. In a crowd, he sticks out the most, not because of his nearly emotionless gaze and not even because of his low, scratchy voice but because of his clothes and the way he talks. He is trying to learn how to blend it though. He thinks that blending in is an important skill that one needs to learn in order to survive. However, even though he has put a lot of effort into trying to appear to be normal, he is falling rather miserably at that.

He is also the brain of the group - a person who plans and calculates the next moves without any humanity whatsoever. For Jian, protecting his family and completing the jobs that his Master/Mistress orders are the only things that Jian cares. The rest of the world, alive or death, it is none of his concern. With Jian, everything comes down to 'What should be used to complete this mission the most effective?', 'What should I say to the others so that they will believe me?', 'What pawns should I control to make my next moves?' Killing and doing dirty jobs are fine for Jian. He doesn't find them disgusting or distasteful. It is only because of his brothers that he retains some of his humanity. If not, well, there is no guarantee what length he will go just to please his Master/Mistress. Therefore, it is sufficient to say that Jian is very cruel... but effective at the same time. It is also the reason why he is considered the most dangerous persons in the group. It is not because he is stronger or faster than the others, it is because he can complete a mission without caring how many lives he has taken.

For him, there are only two kinds of persons - the ones that are his family and the ones that aren't. Even his Mistress isn't considered his family as he hasn't known her well enough yet. But for those who he has called 'Family', Jian is ready to go to Hell and back, cursed by others and despised by humans just to see them smile. He loves them more than his own life and he listens to them only after his Master/Mistress. Actually, the only reason why they aren't placed at the first of his 'who he will listen without questions' list is because of his curse - the curse which makes him obey the person that owns his ring. Also, if there is a single thing that Jian dislikes, it is chains. The chains - the curse that makes him obey his owner. He doesn't personally hate Nadine - his newest owner but he hates the connections between himself and the girl. He is loyal, yes but that doesn't mean he has to like it.

Jian is also very serious. He can never take a joke and is incapable of understanding sarcastic remarks. Jian may take about five minutes to understand a really funny joke and he almost never laugh. This leads to an unfortunate fact that Jian always takes things literally. For example, if his newest Mistress orders him to 'throw the grocery in the kitchen' for her, he will not be hesitant and actually throws the goods into the kitchen...quite literally. It creates many awkward situations where he takes things too seriously without thinking. His unwavering stare makes people uncomfortable and Jian actually prefers it that way. At least, like that, he will never have to actively tell the others to back off. Unfortunately or fortunately for Jian, his brothers are not affected by his stares and still continues to spend times with him. Only when he is with his brother that Jian allows himself to relax. He will even occasionally smile at Alexander's jokes. However, when he is near new people, he tends to hide himself in the shadow or even behind his brothers, feeling extremely uncomfortable. Another thing about Jian is that he is very curious and hates not knowing something. That is why when he is faced with so many different things after five centuries, Jian is dying to know how each thing works.

Skill(s)/Abilities
➨ Analyzing situations: With sharp eyes and even sharper mind, Jian can look at a situation and determine which course of actions should be taken to ensure a mission can be properly finished. Of course, the downside of his ability is that he thinks like a robot, without caring about others (except his brothers) and therefore, his actions may be cold and merciless.

➨ Martial Art: While he is not very proficient in the art, Jian knows enough to defense himself. His attacks are based on speed and fast strike. As for how he finishes someone's life when he's in human form, well, Jian usually waits until they are asleep to slit their throats.

➨ Manipulating skills: Jian is good with this skill. While he appears to be a nervous wreck when he confronts new people, once he has calmed himself down, Jian can manipulate people to the fullest and he is not afraid to do so.

Bio:
Jian's former life was a strange one. Till this day, he wasn't sure if he could call his life happy or sad. He was born in a Chinese family and had a happy childhood with a loving father and a loving mother. His parents provided him with food, clothes and education, love and joy. They even tried to shield him from the dark edge of the world. To be completely honest, Jian had a better childhood than many people and he himself knew it. Because of that, Jian never complains or moans to anyone that he had a bad childhood though his life had taken another turn for the worse in his later years. Because of his parents' protectiveness, Jian had never encountered anything bad and thus, he was a very innocent boy, believed everything was all roses and sunshine until 'that' happened. Jian, being naturally a very curious boy, wondered what was happening outside the high wall that his parents had built around their mansion, decided for the first time that he would sneak out.

Sneaking out was a piece of cake for Jian because his parents had never expected their obedient son to become so rebellious out of sudden. Walking around the city, Jian wanted to enjoy everything new and study as much as he could. Unluckily for Jian, with his naive and young mind, he had walked straight to a prostitute alley. There were many prostitutes there and Jian, childish and inexperienced, wanted to know what was going on. Then, everything was a blur in Jian's memory, the young boy never wanted to remember it again so he buried it deep inside his own mind. Let just say Jian somehow managed to sell his body to another man then he was raped rather violently after that. It was a downright horrifying experience for Jian and the young boy did the only thing he could think of - come running to his house.

His parents, unable to accept the fact that their son had somehow become a prostitute even out of a simple mistake, forbid him from ever set foot in their house again and kicked him out after that. Then, without any other places to go, Jian had to spend a whole year on the street, doing everything he could. Unfortunately for him, once again, because of his parents' rather protective way of raising him, Jian knew nothing. He couldn't wash the dishes, couldn't cook, couldn't even sweep the floor. He wasn't capable of doing anything useful so no one hired him to do anything. For a whole year, Jian just slept and ate like a beggar, taking even a penny if someone gave it to him. After that, Jian heard the news... An alchemist was recruiting people for his job. He paid well and the persons who worked with him even received fame.

Starving for affection from his parents and money to eat, Jian accepted the job almost immediately. Once Jian arrived to the castle, his Hell began. He was paired with a venomous snake and was experimented on. It was Hell for the young man because a sanke's body structure was very different. It started with poisons then moved to weapons, fire and other things. He was chained twenty four seven and had to try many poisons. Because of that, Jian slowly lost his ability to feel love, pain or any other kinds of emotions. It was a dark part of his life, feeling completely empty and yet at the same time, the loneliness hurt. The scars on his body was caused by those experiments, too. After the experiment succeeded, Jian was moved to the other three's chambers and slowly, his brothers brought out the remained shreds of his humanity. It was when Jian swore he would protect his brothers until the day he died. Three years later, the alchemist died, leaving Jian and his three brothers trapped inside a box as 4 rings: Bat, Fish, Snake and Porcupine. When the box was opened again and he was taken out, Jian was surprised to see that a girl had worn him. Now, he had a Mistress and he intended to serve her until the ring was taken out of her finger.

'It has been a long time since I last saw the human world...' Jian thought calmly as he opened his eyes to stare at the face of his sleeping Mistress. His knees shook as he leaned against the wall to keep his balance, his eyes kept darting between the girl's form and the strange devices across the room 'Is my new Mistress an Alchemist, too? It seems so... There are too many strange things around here. Maybe it is nowadays' Magic...' Finally regained his strength slightly, Jian sluggishly made his way to the girl's bed, his right hand shook as he wondered if he should wake her up or not.

'She is my new Mistress...' He thought as his fingers brushed slightly against her soft skin but then he took a step back 'but she is not family... she is a human... just like him... the one that did that to me... and she is human... just like the ones that chained me so that they may experiment on me... I cannot touch her...' Looking around, Jian searched depressedly for his brothers, wanting to hide behind them so much. He was still weak and he hated to put himself in a situation where he didn't know how to react. Touching his face and tracing his fingers around his scar, Jian decided he should find his brothers first. At least, once he had met them, he could calm himself down and start thinking rationally.

Giving the small girl with soft, pink cheeks one last glance, Jian stumbled out of the room, accidentally knocking over a small device the size of his palm. The device suddenly came to life and it lit up, causing Jian to give a soft gasp as he saw another three girls with his Mistress smiling and just 'doing nothing but smiling in it... Is it nowadays' magic? How can Mistress do that? She is sleeping right there... Is Mistress a Witch?' The strange device vibrated slightly and it gave many strange beeping noises. The noise became louder every second and Jian sneaked a glance at the still sleeping girl. He would have to do something with the sound. He did not want to wake his Mistress up. But what if... what if one of his Mistress' witch friends were trying to contact her? Maybe she would be angry at him for not waking her up...

His hands shakily picked up the device and noticed it became warmer. Maybe it was a signal that the witches were becoming impatient. What should he do? The device was still vibrating and the beeping sounds had not stopped, either. He hastily put the small device next to his Mistress and hurried out of the room, not wanting to touch any of the girl's magic. Stumbling out of the room without a candle was hard. There were many traps and obstacles that Jian had to face. 'Witches nowadays are very paranoid...' Jian concluded as he tried to open a high wooden wall without much success. This wall was made of another material than the rest so it must be the way out.

On the big wall made of wood, there was a cool round ball. Maybe he could push it, or should he twist it? Would he be cursed if he said the wrong password? "Γ–ffnen" He said the simplest spell he could think of, his voice was rough because he hadn't used them for years... but strangely, the wooden wall didn't open. Maybe he should try another phrase "Γ–ffnen Sie die TΓΌr" The door still hadn't open up. Finally gathered all his strength, the snake young man grasped the round ball on the wooden wall. The ball was cool and seemed to make out of metal. He twisted it and gave another gasp as the wooden wall didn't collapse like he thought it would. It simply...opened.

'Magic nowadays is so strange' Jian thought as he stepped out of the room and into another large room. It was almost morning now... So, it meant that he had spent more than one hour trying to figure out how to open that strange wall. 'Witches nowadays are so...intelligent' Jian thought as he half-stumbled, half-walked into the room. Jian felt his blood ran cold as he saw the scene in front of him. His brother, Arron, was being threatened by a strange girl. 'Another witch' Jian's mind corrected himself but the young man didn't notice it.

"Would you like a sandwich?"

The girl asked maliciously and Jian felt like his blood was being drained from his face. The girl was threatening his brother and she said... she said she would send a 'sand witch' after him. Hadn't this 'witch' known who his brother was? Or how powerful he could be? Or even how angry his brothers (including himself) would be if Arron was harmed in any way? 'Maybe this girl is so confident in the power of the sand witch that she does not even fear us...' That thought scared Jian. In this world, were people so powerful that they weren't even afraid of a giant beast like his brother? Were there many sand witches? And did all these sand witches hate his brother and their kind?

Taking a deep breath, Jian forced himself to calm down. He would have to think rationally if he wanted to save his brother. Maybe he could act helpless so that the witch... or sand witch, he wasn't sure, would think they were weak and after rescuing his brother, he would leave this place with his Mistress to search for his other brothers - Sebastian and Alexander. Stepping out of the shadow and in front of the sand witch's form, Jian stood protectively between his brother and the witch.

"Lady Sand Witch..."

Jian said in that same rough voice and bowed low, a sign of respect. He hoped he could pull this off. If worse came to worst, he could always transform into his snake form and eat her all. He only prayed this sand witch wouldn't be powerful or fast enough to react. "I apologize for intruding your castle, Lady Sand Witch... please do not become angry at our 'unexpected' arrival... We are merely searching for our Mistresses and our brothers. We swear upon our honor that we shall leave this castle once we have found our missing brothers and Mistresses..."

Giving another deep bow, the snake man licked his lips and said respectfully, eyeing the carrot warily. Maybe it only have the shape of a carrot but it was actually a magical staff. Maybe it is nowadays' weapon. Whatever it was, Jian was not going to risk it. "Please put your magical staff down, Lady Sand Witch... We do not wish to cause you or your companions any harm..."

The dark room was piled completely, from top to bottom, with books. Shelves lined the walls, each piled with at least three rows of books on every surface, if not more. It was like someone had taken an entire library and crammed it into the unassuming, ill-furnished guest room which the shut-in girl had ended up choosing for her own - leaving the three main bedrooms in the hands of her friends. And, when the shelves ran out of space, the books seemed to flow seamlessly over, piled into orderly stacks that almost completely concealed the walls of the already dismal room from view. Post-it notes were hung regularly across every open space, each marked with at least half a dozen notations on how the books were organized. As it was, perhaps the only person who could have located a book amidst the chaos made by perfect, simultaneous hextuple order was the room's owner herself.

There was very little open space in the gloomy, dust-filled room. The miniscule area that wasn't taken up by the bookshelves or miscellaneous stacks of literature was instead occupied with assorted furniture. Against the left wall, enclosed on almost all sides by towers of knowledge and paper, sat a small writing desk, wired into which sat an old, well-used computer that served as the ordinary girl's eyes into the outside world, a system which allowed her to see much more, and with more confidence, than her own twin azure orbs, which were ill-suited to much but reading books. But aside from this purpose and the other occasional utility, the computer was left largely untouched, its capacity as an entertainment tool, for the most part, ignored in favor of either the literature stacked all around it, or of the large, ornate wooden box that occupied the rest of the desk, and the antique chess set contained within it. Across from this, in the back right corner, was a small, circular table, with two comfortable-looking, well-cushioned chairs - the one facing the back wall was an armchair, while the one in the very corner facing outward was a basket seat piled with countless cushions, pillows, and blankets, and the degree of tilt in which made it look more like a nest of some sort than a seat - positioned one on either side of it. Behind these things was a cabinet that looked quite out of place, for visible through its glass doors was a full tea set, and atop it were several implements including a wicker box containing tea packets and various other accessories, as well as a small, old-looking microwave. Next to this cabinet, almost concealed behind it, was a dispenser with a jug of water perched atop it, ready to flow at a moment's notice. In the back left corner, meanwhile, was a small, humble-looking black piano with worn yellow keys, chipped and battered by time, but nonetheless serving its purpose to perfection.

Placed around a third of the way along the back wall on the left side was a small dresser, the garments it contained all sorted, folded, and ordered by its somewhat obsessive owner. Then, in the very center of the back wall, placed directly beneath a single window through which the moonlight shone brightly down, and facing outward towards the door, was a bed. Its sheets were plain, made of a soft, fuzzy-looking gray material, and accompanied by matching blankets, as well as similar pillowcases on the two rather puffy pillows that served as the simple, frameless bed's furnishings. But, although the light of the midnight moon shone down upon this bed, it was not in it that the room's owner was to be found. Rather, one would have to look in the dark corner, only barely visible in the half-lit, dusty air, were it not for the small night-light by which she made out the words on the page beneath her gaze. The girl looked tiny compared to all of the blankets and pillows surrounding her where she half sat, half lay, curled up within the basket chair in the corner, clumsily half-clad in an oversized navy blue pajama top which she wore more like a nightgown than anything else, the top few buttons undone, allowing it to sag down slightly past her shoulders, so as to let the cool, nightime air keep her from overheating beneath her covering of blankets, while the long sleeves, which otherwise probably would have covered her arms, were rolled back to her wrists, her small, soft hands poking out from amidst their consuming folds. The garment was long enough to cover her undergarments from view, but didn't extend much further, leaving her long, slender legs exposed to the chill darkness, another means of keeping cool. Her dark hair was splayed out about her like an unkempt halo, while her tired blue eyes were already beginning to droop as they ran across the page before her eyes.

Despite this, Nadine Valencia could not bring herself to take in a single word of the passage beneath her gaze. Her mind was tired, and her thoughts were already beginning to wander away from the passage. Yet always, no matter how much she thought about it... her mind always returned to the same thing: the small, blue-green ring that was now coiled gently around the pointer finger of her left hand, its unfamiliar, cold feeling attracting her thoughts again and again, just as its mysterious nature came to her mind constantly. She had been perusing the same paragraph for the past two hours now, at least, and yet, she couldn't pay attention. The excitement and anxiety within her was much too strong to simply be mastered so easily.

This ring... what exactly was it? Alchemists? Homunculi? Transmutation of living creatures? The alteration of a Human's nature to create a beast that defied all comprehension, all laws of physics and reason? These things spun wildly about through her thoughts, even as her eyes began to flutter slowly closed, and she slowly relaxed her grip on her book, allowing it to fall shut to the floor as she spread loosely out upon her cushions. But, above them all, she wondered about one thing, and one thing only.

A hero... a servant that would protect her... She didn't know whether or not it was possible, or whether or not it was even true and not just some elaborate joke by the others, a ploy to raise her spirits. But... even so, as she slowly lapsed into slumber, she somehow felt... safe. And, as those cerulean orbs shut at last, and her body became still save for the slow rising and falling of her chest in peaceful slumber, Nadine did something somewhat unusual: she hugged her left hand gently against her heart, and fell asleep with a smile on her face.

Normally, for her, sleep was an ordeal just as waking was, for the fears that filled her waking life were made manifest in dreams, and often times she found it impossible to rest, instead finding herself waking and staring blankly at the ceiling, or perhaps out the window of her room and into the bright moon that hung gigantic in the starry skies beyond. But tonight... tonight was different. For, little did she know it, but the servant who would keep her safe was already right by her side, even as she lay slumbering beneath the moonlight, like a sleeping angel in her heavenly nest. And that night, as Nadine slept... she dreamed not of darkness, of fears, and of failures, but of the clashing of steel, of a sword broken upon a radiant shield, and of a knight who stood before her, bathed in the light of a full and luminous moon as he held fast, his arms spread wide to encircle all of the evils in the world and to cast them back into the depths from whence they came.

She dreamed of the servant who would absolutely, without a doubt, always be there to protect her. And, although she did not know it, in some manner, that servant was protecting her, even at that moment, for the ring of the snake adorning her finger was shining ever brightly in the moonlight, as though its reflected radiance would banish all the darkness from its master's sleep. But these matters did not concern the young girl at this moment, for right now, she was at last at peace, in a state of blissful slumber that so often evaded her. Rolling over with a quiet sigh, she smiled, unconsciously hugging the ring that now served as her protective talisman tightly against her chest, warding away the nightmares that otherwise haunted her rest as, for once, she dreamed deeply, without fear nor sorrow, blissfully unaware of what was transpiring even at that very instant while she lay weary in her nest, not daring to even fancy at the extraordinary events that were about to unfold, nor to guess at the plot of the storybook into which she had at long last been cast, the hero.

And yet, like all things, this rest could not last. For although the thick wooden door of her sanctum did well in blocking out the noise from the rest of the house, on some level, the commotion that was already beginning reached her ears. Her thoughts addled with sleep, Nadine slowly opened her tired blue eyes, glancing about herself in slight confusion. The clock... it only read a little after three. The room was dark and silent, and yet, somehow, she had awoken. Her mind began to sort itself out with almost uncanny speed, and she slowly found her consciousness dawning, wide awake, despite the fact that she should have probably just fallen right back asleep. There was nothing visible to have disturbed her slumber, and there was no reason for her to suddenly become fully conscious, and yet...

Nadine's heart began to slowly beat faster. There was something wrong here, and she had no clue what it might be. Could it be... maybe something was in her room, had woken her up, and, although she could not see it, she was instinctively aware of its presence? The clouds had covered the moon outside, and there was not a speck of light in the book-filled, dusty chamber. Slowly, Nadine rose, her bad eyes straining against the darkness, trying to discern what might be concealed within it. Thousands of spectral phantoms appeared and faded before her eyes, whirling one into the other until at last she could not be sure what phantasms she beheld were real and what were merely shapes conjured out of her own fearful imagination. The darkness scared her as it was, but this uncanny series of events... perhaps she was paranoid, but she simply knew something was happening. There had to be something there, but where...?

And then, in an instant, she got her answer, for the clouds outside the open window slowly began to part, and from a crack in the consuming blanket that covered the sky, the radiance of moonlight shone forth, suddenly illuminating the dark chamber, bathing everything in a bluish-silver light. With a gasp, Nadine fell back in her seat, nearly toppling the chair in which she had slept entirely over. Eyes wide in surprise, she blinked several times, trying to wake up from her dream, and yet... this was no dream. Rather, this was a dream painted upon the canvas of reality: a fantasy spilled over into the waking world.

For before her, bathed in moonlight, stood the dark-haired knight whose kindly visage she had beheld in her sleep, gazing stoically down upon her, the radiance streaming through the window surrounding him in a silvery halo, as though he was some kind of guardian angel rather than a mortal being. It seemed impossible to believe, and yet... he was right there, before her eyes.

"W-who are you...?" Nadine asked even though she already knew the answer, her voice filled equal parts with fear, awe, and disbelief. "Y-you... you can't be..."

But there was no mistake. Although she she have been afraid of the mysterious man with the scarred face, she could muster nothing save incredulity. For this man was, without a doubt... the man from the ring, appearing now in the flesh before her. This was...

...her servant.

(Sorry for the slight godmod. Also, Black Death, if you make Jian say "I ask of you... are you my master?" I will lol. Kudos to you if you get the reference. =P)
