Myles had spent the whole afternoon, or at least the majority of the afternoon, packing his things for the weekend trip to the forest. The forest was his perfect chance to shine. Course it wasn't the best place to shine, but when your the new kid in town, not many people know you too well and all they can do is to judge you on your appearance and not the guy he is inside. He couldn't help it if he took pride in the way he looked and didn't like to get all roughed up. He just wasn't a fighter and only did so when it was absolutely necessary. He was more of a thinker and always liked to be prepared. He had his cream, his mirror, scissors all to keep him all trimmed up. Sure there were times when he needed to get dirty, but there was also times that he had to look good. People didn't see him as the strong type but he really could be, and that was what put him in this position in the first place.
He however was not alone in all this, as his cousin Melissa also joined him. She was a year older than him and was the one who was going to drive him up there. However, she wasn't the patient type when it came to waiting for others and knowing others would not turn up on time, so she saw no need to rush and end up waiting for eons. Probably a bit of a overstatement, but the fact of the matter remains is that Mel goes at her own pace and does what she feels is best, even if it gets her into trouble. Well life is such an adventure with the unknown being around the corner. What's wrong with a little bit of risk here and there, as sometimes risk does actually pay off.
"Ready?", she asked as she sat in the drivers' seat and pulled down the mirror as she applied her lipstick which had run dry and was not as bright and appealing as it was earlier. Then again, hot lips are supposed to be used, and are tasty. No wonder they made those gummy hot lips which she just so happens to have in her pocket. How ironic. "I was ready ages ago, and now we're going to be late", he replied as he lifted his hand to his silky soft hair and moved away from his eyes. He didn't like being late, but if he would be, he would take it easy as he usually does. If there was one thing he was good at, it was adapting.
"Watch it, or I might just put this lippy on you, or is that what you want", she commented with a smile before pouting her lips and kissing the thin air, "Beautiful! Now let's go!". Her slender arm reaching for the handbrake to push down as her other hand turned the key in the keyhole as the engine ignited, before the black jeep then sped away. They were finally on the move. Late, but moving. "You should be thanking me you know. Means you get the spotlight. Well, I do, but you at least share it", she answered with a wink.
It did take a little while to get there but they finally did, seeing three cars already parked, making them both wonder how many of the guys was here. Maybe they were just all talk. Well, it would just make coming out of this even more gratifying and beating the lads, but first they had to put up with a weekend in the woods, and it all began now as they both got out of the jeep and grabbed their bags. Melissa was a little taller than Myles but only by a few inches, as she leaned against the bonnet and turned to Myles as her steel blue eyes gazed into green pair, "You ready?". Myles smiled, "Let's do it", he answered before adding, "in a minute", as he reached in his bag and pulled out a mirror to check he was alright, as his free hand gently stroked his soft slightly-tanned skin before tidying up his hair so it didn't fall into his eyes.
"You look fine Myles. Really. If we don't hurry though, we'll end up being separated from the rest and then you'll have no witnesses. It's your last chance to say no if you don't want to do it", she teased, causing Myles to turn his head and look up to her bright face, "I'm no quitter", he scowled as he put his mirror away and headed towards the forest with Melissa in tow. Of course being at the rear wasn't Mel's favourite place to be, so she walked at his side and overtook occasionally, listening out for sounds and following broken twigs on the ground before they could hear noise as they both smiled to each other. Sure they got along well together, but now they were on their own.
Course, Mel liked having a grand entrance so soon as they begun getting nearer, they walked alot more gently until three figures came into sight; two guys and one female, as they then overheard one of the males speak, "Oh..Running water, that way, about a mile", and a clever one at that. Fantastic! as Melissa's smile widened. Not to mention both guys were pretty cute and what was even more great, was that they were both standing close to each other as she tiptoed behind them and as soon as she was in range, each hand went into their arm and gave a tug to tickle, before stepping back just incase one of them turned round suddenly or any had a weapon which everyone here most likely had for being in the wild.
Now with her presence known, she smiled, "Hello boys....", as she bit her lip, "Didn't any of you have my number to call me and let me know you were going in", before looking around, "Myles?...You there?", she called before turning to the rest of them, "He's my cousin, but unfortunately slow". Following that, she sighed as she moved over to the girl. Girl power and all that, as she put her hand out to greet her, "Melissa Parker, I don't believe we've met".
Trudging into the congregation, she noticed that Mel had once again put herself in the spotlight and putting her little antics into place. Well there were two guys and two gals, three guys if he counts himself, but did not know a thing about anyone since he had not been here long. Waiting till Mel finished, he then stepped forward innocently, treading without intending to on a branch causing a snap to be heard. Wasn't exactly the best start, but at least he didn't have a dozen eyes watching him as he managed a smile, before rubbing the back of his head to regain his posture again, "Hi. I guess Melissa has already introduced me, but I'm Myles". He turned his head slightly to the way he came and pointed, "I was just checking the soil back there. Water is definitely this way, the way that guy said" as he pointed to the other brunette, "I'm sorry, I don't know names, but what I do know is that we can find what we need this way", smiling slightly once again, before stepping forwards to integrate himself.
Myles was pretty smart when he thought about things, and by the looks of it, turning right would lead to a rise in ground levels which means the most water they'd get is a spring if they are lucky or a tiny stream from a mountain. However, below the mountain, the streams form a river or larger water pools as they go down, so they were certainly going the right way. As long as they don't get lost, they'll be ok.....
