Introduction

The Road to Paradise: A Wolf’s Rain Based RPG

Image

When are we born? When do we die? Why are we born? Why do we die? The world has been destroyed and we've fallen countless times, always resurrecting from the ashes as Paradise. It has happened before, and it will happen again, an endless cycle of life and death. The world is a Paradise that was opened by someone, but this era too is almost at an end. We have acquired the means to exceed our natural span of life, never suspecting that the world itself was finalized in its existence. This knowledge has left me in despair, my fate has fallen and scattered like the petals of a dying flower, like the blast from a sandstorm it has been worn down and weathered away. As if to be purified, the world will be encased in ice so that it can return to the beginning once more. Paradise is a world that is opened by someone... – The Spirit Owl

The Run Down

This game is based on the anime Wolf’s Rain; however, it will be driven differently. You do not have to have seen Wolf’s Rain in order to be in this game. What you read from this introduction will be all you need to know about this game. I will go ahead and state that Cheza, the flower maiden, will not exist. Instead, there will be a lunar flower encased in a glass vial, which is the last of the plant species—the flowers that once grew in paradise. I will only be accepting up to five players in this game. Players who are interested are welcome to post a profile. I will only be accepting the profiles from players who I feel truly worked on them so do not feel discouraged if you see more than five applications. My say is final on who gets in this game. This game is going to be a team effort to run, and it will need the imaginations of everyone. The enemies and bosses are GM-run. With all this said, I thank you for reading this portion of the game.

The game is broken into chapters. Each chapter has a plot and goal, and once it is reached, it will close. This gives everyone a mission. The information below will be for Chapter One. Once chapter one has come to an end, a summary will be written summarizing its events, and we’ll move onto Chapter Two. As of now, I am undecided if I will accept more players later. There is always a possibility, so we’ll see.

For Chapter One, the game begins in Freeze City. Players can post at their leisure, have their characters interact with others, but I discourage your character causing too much trouble. What I mean by trouble is don’t have the whole, human army chasing you. Having a few police officers chase you, and then losing them or what not is fine. I will be sure to let you know if I feel your post needs to be edited due to a possible plot complication.

In conclusion, thank you for reading this portion of the game. Please continue reading below.

The Setting

Chapter One: The setting takes place in Freeze City, a dome in the north in the middle of a winter wasteland. The dome protects the humans from the cold, and although it’s still freezing, the temperature is at a bearable level for survival. The humans of Freeze City are very poor and endure hardships trying to survive every day. The technology-level of this city is modern.

The Dancing Jackal

Once an abandoned, run-down bar, it still is pretty run down, but its inhabitants have managed to spruce it up and make it homely. The bar’s residents are wolves posing as humans, having been drawn to the city by a mysterious smell coming from the government facility. They pose as employees in the day, making a small profit that they split amongst themselves. At night, they are thieves, robbing the supply trains that ship food to the city.

Roles

Bartender (1) Taken
Waitress (1)
Bouncer (1)

Other roles: Wolfish Visitors of Freeze City (3)

I will only be allowing three male characters and three female characters. Technically, just two male characters since I will be present in this game as the third male. As I mentioned in the above statement, do not feel discouraged if you see more than five applications. I will be selecting the applications that I feel are passable in this game.

Chapter One Entities

Wolves: The wolves in this game are not werewolves. They are the four-legged canis lupus, but possess special abilities. They can fool humans by magically setting before their eyes a human illusion of themselves. This allows for the wolves to walk around freely, but in this form, they cast a wolf’s shadow. Wolves in wolf-form and human-form can leap incredible heights, run extremely fast, have powerful jaws than can bend iron, and sharp claws that allow them to scale walls, vertical inclines, and even slash enemies. If wolves are wounded, they heal quickest during a full moon, but the light of the moon is enough to soothe their wounds. Each wolf will have one unique characteristic specific to them alone. As the GM, I will be policing what you have written as their characteristic. Nothing like fire, ice or any element or extreme ability that would make this game seem like X-men. (This is the only playable entity)

Humans: Humans don’t believe that wolves still exist since the last one seen alive was 200 years ago. If any Human sees a wolf, they will think it is a big, stray dog. Some humans don’t mind wolves, while others won’t hesitate to call the dog catchers.

Hunters: There still exist wolf hunters who believe that wolves are alive and have adapted to live among the humans, hiding in human flesh. Hunters track dogs best using their trusty hounds that cannot only sense a wolf, but see through their human disguise. Hunters won’t hesitate to try to kill a wolf. Their interpretation of the Book of the Moon has made them blind and they feel the wolves to be a threat to human existence.

Dogs: Normal dogs aren’t a problem. It is the dogs of hunters that pose the biggest threat to wolves. They can be just as strong and dangerous.

Nobles: They are the remains of royalty. They are wealthy lords and ladies of the sky, living in their flying ships of luxury that soar from one human civilization to another, taking what they need, and doing as they please. They believe in the prophecy of the Book of the Moon and feel they need wolf’s blood to open the gate to Paradise.

Chapter One Objects

The Book of the Moon: a.k.a. The Lunar Tome, “From the great spirit was born the wolf and man became its messenger. When the moon turns to blood, the gate to Paradise will appear, but only the wolves shall know how to find it and be permitted entrance.” The book implies that man was born from wolves. Humans are supposedly wolves that have forgotten their true form. However, once their form is forgotten, they cannot revert to being a wolf again.

The Lunar Flower: It is the flower that the wolves smell and is currently being contained within the government facility. It is the last of the lunar flowers, and it is one of the keys to the gates of Paradise.

Visual Appearance: Do not use pictures from the anime. I will not accept it. Only use pictures of actual wolves. No Okami wolves or ninja wolves.

You can only make up one, and so be sure no one has the same ability as you.

Feel free to design this profile layout however you like. This is just telling you what your profile should have. You can add more if you feel inspired to add more. Just don’t add less.

Clarifications

Your character may have a human form, but he/she is still a wolf. Therefore, if you want your character to be able to use a weapon of some kind, it has to be listed as a "unique characteristic." The reason why is simply, wolves don't have hands. So if they're grabbing anything in human form, they're using their teeth. More than likely, your wolf will not be able to handle a firearm because the wolf can't manage to squeeze the trigger and reload.

There is no pack mentality with wolves. There is no alpha, beta, or omega. The wolves are the first beings, and the humans were born from the wolves, so they co-exist just as humans do. They are logical creatures and do what they can to survive whether as a team or alone.

The clothes on the wolf's human guise cannot be removed because they are an illusion. In actuality, the clothes may just be your wolf's fur. However, the clothes can be altered, but not by physical means. The wolf's human guise cannot be altered for it represents who the wolf would be if they forgot that they're a wolf.

Toggle Rules

Be sure to read the first page of the OOC before you start creating a character sheet.

1. Do not post OOC comments in the IC. Use the OOC when making OOC statements.
2. Use grammar and spelling to the best of your ability and try to post at least five sentences. If you are in dialogue with another character and you don’t think you can produce five sentences, then go into PMs with that person, collab, and post the conversation as one huge post.
3. The enemies are controlled by the GM. I will give you freedom to make trouble for yourself, but the enemies that move the plot along are controlled by me.
4. In the case of duels between players, both players need to use T1 or otherwise known as turn-based combat. You write your actions as an intention, giving the other player a chance to dodge or counter. The GM will be observing these in-game duels, and if he needs to intervene due to illogical movements or play, he will pass the final judgment. If you do not like this, then learn how to fight. ‘Nough said. You should be able to go into PMs and collaborate with the player you plan to duel. Maybe you guys can decide on a stalemate and make the fight look cool. There is no need to try and kill each other or hate on each other over an in-game fight. It’s just a game, so please be civil.
5. Whatever the GM says, goes. I try to be fair. I try to permit most characters, but if I say no, then it’s no. Please don’t argue with me. I’m sorry if you wanted your way, but this is my game and I try to make decisions for the good of the plot.
6. This RP may have mature themes, but there will be no love-making (sex). If pants come off, take it to PMs or where others can’t see it.
7. Do not post ahead of other players. No one wants to feel pressured when they play this game. You may have all the time in the world but others may not. If you post to someone, let him or her have a chance to respond. If you post towards more than one person, let each of them respond. If I feel that a certain player or players are going ahead of others and are not giving them a chance to reply, then I will have to place a limit on posts.
8. No god-moding, no meta-gaming, and no breaking character. The first two are self-explanatory, but just in case you don’t know what meta-gaming is. It is when you have your character know knowledge that only you, the writer, should know. Breaking character is known as breaking the fourth wall when you write a post with implication of OOC knowledge or in response to OOC statements. Another definition for it is when your own emotions filter into your character’s emotions.
9. If you play a character with an Asian name, then I expect that character to be and appear Asian. No exceptions.

Chapter One – Freezing Hardship

City Hall

“That’s the second train this month that’s been ransacked,” Mayor Rosencrantz growled.

He stood before his expansive, office window overlooking the snow-covered homes and shops below. He was dressed in an evergreen suit with a tapioca undershirt, earthen-brown waistcoat, and green tie. His hands were folded behind his back, his brown, shrewd eyes darting from one ant to another. That’s what they all were now: ants trying to make it in a glass tank, working to feed each other; but some were breaking the rules.

Chief Officer Peter Cromwell stood behind him, his white-gloved hand curled about his garrison cap as he stood at attention in his black uniform. His blonde brows lowered over eyes that were blue like the sky had once been.

“It’s just a gang of miscreants. They don’t seem to take much. They take only what they need,” the officer informed.

“Just a gang, Officer Cromwell?” the mayor turned to regard the man with a brow raised in disbelief. “Do you know how many gangs there are in this city? It’s not like life isn’t already hard enough. I was hoping that we could all learn to survive peacefully; instead, those men and women want steal from others, steal from those who work for their clothes and meals. I won’t stand for it any longer. Next thing you know, they’ll be trying to ruin this city with anarchy.”

“The hunters say they’re wolves.”

Wolves?” the mayor echoed in shock. “Why, there haven’t been any wolves around here for 200 years!”

“Yes, I am aware.”

“Then why wolves? Gangs and now these lunatics with guns; this city is already on its way to disaster. Huh, well now, the next time you meet a man who talks about wolves driving around in vehicles and robbing supply trains, you bring him to me. I need to hear this from the horse’s mouth. But yes, about that train problem…”

“It’s been taken care of,” Officer Cromwell informed. “I sent a letter to the capital, and this train that is to arrive here at 2100 will have a C-113 Centaur aboard. Human or wolf; if they try to rob this train, they won’t survive to reap the spoils.”

The mayor’s brows lifted in concern. “A Centaur? Are they mad? They’re petty thieves not terrorists.”

Officer Cromwell frowned softly. “Not to condescend, Sir, but you wanted something to be done about it, and this is the result. As I said, they are nothing but miscreants, and I had spoke about them lightly to learn more about your opinion of them. Simply, if they’re stealing from the train, then they’re stealing from this city. We cannot afford to waste the supplies we acquire from the capital on felons. As for the other gangs, I’ll have the guards catch them and put them in prison, and then they’ll be shipped to the capital for trial.”

The mayor regarded the officer as though they were strangers. He was lost for words, having no comments for the soldier’s final solution. He had imagined a much more lenient punishment than death and imprisonment, but perhaps these weren’t lenient times. Perhaps he was too soft, and such was the reason why discord was growing in the city? His eyes softened from their tense stare and he turned back to sullenly face his office window and the city below.

“Fine; that’ll be all, Officer Cromwell.”

The officer bowed and replied, “Have a nice day, Mayor Rosencrantz.”

Straightening, the officer turned toward the doors and took his leave as the edges of his lips unzipped into a sadistic grin.

Underground Compound – Lab

The laboratory was dark, all except for the white and magenta glow at the end of the room. There was a large flower encased in a glass vial, sitting on an electronic console that flashed with neon-green lights that darted across channels. Beyond the star-like flower was a much larger glass case with rich, moist soil and the green curls of sprouts, emerging from it.

There was a young, red-headed female, gazing at the seedlings with a dreamy smile. Out of all the plants Freeze City had tried to grow, the seeds of this strange plant were the only seeds that worked. The Green Project hadn’t worked the way she had hoped, but if these flowers could grow and put a smile on the people’s faces, then they just might live longer. These flowers meant hope and she could use theirs strands to clone a more resilient strand for fruits and vegetables to grow on. This was progress.

“Still messing with those weeds?”

The scientist whirled around to smack into the uniformed chest of a blond-headed ass. She stepped back, slapping his shoulder irritably.

“They aren’t weeds. They’re flowers, and look, they’re growing,” she boasted with a proud smile.

The officer stepped over to the tank to inspect the sproutlings before his blue eyes turned to the purple flower in the glass. It may have just been the UV lamp, but the flower looked as though it bore its own glow. Officer Cromwell rendered an about-face, catching the scientist off guard once again. She jumped in startle before she found his hands gently grasping her biceps.

“This is great. We need to celebrate,” he told her with a simmering smile.

The red-head blushed and pressed her palm against his lips when he leaned forward to try and kiss her. She quickly glanced behind her, making sure none of her coworkers were around before she lifted her hand and pressed her lips to his. They shared a short, but sweet one, before she broke away from the aroused officer, dragging her tongue across her red, painted lips. She had to turn that off where it was before it became a problem.

“Ahem, yes, well,” she spoke, brushing spiraling strands of her hair behind her ears and the black legs of her glasses. “We can do that later. I still have much work to do.”

Officer Cromwell was brushing his fingers across his lips, inspecting them for lipstick stains before he’d return to work.

“I’ll call you when I’m off,” he told her.

“I’m sure you will,” she playfully added.

The officer smirked as he took his leave.

The scientist watched him go and once he was gone, she huffed.

“I’m such a sucker for uniforms,” she said with a soft sigh. She faced the mysterious plant again, its glow filling her green eyes. “What are you?”

The Dancing Jackal

Gidon’s Bedroom

The Jackal hadn’t been as busy as it practically never was. Busy was about three or five strangers and for a good three hours no one had entered. All Gidon had to do was ask Aury to go out and fetch him a newspaper, and Elly to take inventory on the beers in the cellar, and the black wolf managed to sneak right back into bed. He had crawled beneath his quilt, an old blanket he had fallen in love with when he discovered it in a dumpster. Some human pups had pissed the hell out of it, but it still did its job.

With his head slumped in the comfortable clutches of his pillow, he caught up on his lack of sleep. Getting up early in the morning to open a bar that no one was interested in visiting always made him feel cranky. His left, pointed ear twitched and his legs kicked a little when he dreamt of chasing deer, deer that turned into flying, bloody, meat steaks that began flapping in the frosty wind. A pink tongue dragged across his muzzle as he decided to run harder to catch them, his legs kicking ever more frantically in his desperation.

"This is it." Leto's breath came out as puffs of smoke, dancing playfully in front of him before vanishing into the gray skies above. "It's here. Whatever it is I'm looking for, I'm gonna find it here." A surge of excitement, of adrenaline, of fear, pounded its way into his bloodstream, spreading throughout his body like poison. He stood on a hill covered by snow, one moment a brown wolf staring down a city, the next moment a poor kid with flaming red hair that stood out against the saddened clouds. As a wolf and as a human, his crimson eyes never left her, never left Freeze City with her unnatural glow, with her seductive words and whispers that called out to him.

Destiny, she seemed to murmur. Her words whirled around him like a siren's song, twirling around his ears teasingly to rile him up. Destiny is here. Come meet Destiny.

Leto had been traveling from city to city, from town to town, from plains to deserts to lakes to rivers. He had been to a great many places, seen a lot of things he would never forget and things he would never remember, but in all his travels, he had never seen a city quite like that. There was a light surrounding Freeze City, a white light that seemed to envelope the place in its arms -- protecting it from the outside world or greedily hiding it from prying eyes? What could it possibly mean? Was it trying to tell him something? Was it a trick of his eyes, a trick of the weather, a trick of Mother Nature who had banished him from eden? Maybe it was none of that. Maybe something really was there in that god-forsaken place. Maybe something really was calling for him, reaching out with invisible arms that he could neither see nor feel.

"Destiny..." he repeated under his breath, mesmerized by the sight. Several seconds later, he shook himself out of his thoughts and descended the hill with the soul of a wolf and the appearance of a man, heart already smitten with the new destination before he had even stepped a paw through its front gates. The fur on his body stood on end, ruffled by the wind but was not dominated by its fierce howl; as he got closer, the more his body began to show his anxiety: the quickening of his pace, the frequency of the swish of his tails, the flickering of his eyes that never ceased to lose track of the light.

Leto stood in front of the entrance, digging his paws into the snow, feeling the difference from when he stood atop the hill and from where he stood now. There was a change, barely noticeable, but there. His suspicions had been confirmed, his hopes realized -- he was sure of it; he was positive. Something was here. Leto could feel it in his bones. All that was left to do was find it.

Just outside the government building's fence.

That smell... what was it? The young pup had never been bold enough to try to get inside, but the most beautiful smell kept drawing her to the building. Most wouldn't see the gray and tan wolf playing in the snow, of course. Instead most saw a child of about twelve in pig tails with hair dyed teal green to match her eyes. The little girl was building a deformed snow man. Hay, even with determination, building a snow man with your paws and nose was hard. Still, it was something fun to take her mind off the hunger and cold that constantly weighed on her. She would have to hunt for scraps and hand outs soon. One of her families was bound to be having a decant meal. If she got desperate she could steal... For now, however, Tala wanted to spend just a little more time near the building... near that smell that made her feel so happy. It was like she didn't have a care in the world when she was near that smell.. like for just a few minuets.. the world could be perfect. Tala couldn't have articulated the thought, but that's how she felt when she was close to the building, and that's what kept bringing her back.

When the snow man was finally built. Well, as much as she could manage, it was time for the fun part! The little girl body slammed the thing with a squeal of delight. It crumbled beneath her in a puff of powder. Giggling and smiling the child dug into the snow man to thoroughly kill it and even broke a couple pieces off to eat. Not the best choice when you were cold, but it was fun, and something in her stomach. Even if it was just water.

Freeze City
Cellar of the Dancing Jackal

She stood at the top of the cellar staircase, staring down into the darkness with a disapproving frown on her human projection's face. It wasn't that she was afraid of the dark, not in the slightest, but she would be silly to deny the fact that it was very, very cold. Even though her coat had thickened for the winter weather, it didn't mean the pads of her paws couldn't feel the cold seeping into her bones. A heavy sigh rumbled through her, and she shook herself, gathering her stamina before turning to flip on the light, and then delve into the musty dampness of the cellar.

Row after row of different kinds of liquor extended ahead of her in a vast array of colors and sizes. As her eyes glanced over the choices, she steadily kept a count in her head, her brow furrowed slightly as she walked down the aisles. No doubt Gidon was upstairs enjoying the fact that he hadn't given himself a task. Not that it mattered to her either way. The male could do whatever he liked as far as she was concerned. So long as she could continue to exist and work here in peace.

It was nice to sort of...fit in. It wasn't her goal, of course. She didn't ever want to forget who she truly was, but for the time being, while she was simply trying to survive in a difficult world, it was nice that she had others she could look to. It was nice that there was some semblance of safety here. And if maintaining that comfort required her to count beer bottles while her boss took a nap, then so be it. She'd make due like she always had.

She rounded the aisle, confirming the ending count with the inventory list that sat posted to the cellar door, and then made her way back up to the main floor.

The Dancing Jackal hadn't seen a truly busy night since the day she'd stumbled into the city gates, cold and tired and hungry as she was. But the homely, musty building had become a comfort to her. Even when there were a few customers sitting at the main counter, she could always find some kind of solace in the back corner, curled up by the fire as she kept a watchful eye over the goings-on. Sometimes she even had an opportunity to read, whether it be a newspaper or a book she picked up in town.

She hesitated before sitting, stifling a yawn as she stretched out languidly. Her human projection looked rather comfortable, even after she shed her coat and set it down on a chair next to hers. She climbed into the seat, setting her arms up on the table and laying her cheek down on her forearms, her ice-blue eyes occasionally glancing to the doorway in case someone decided to show up.

When her lids closed half-way, she could feel herself beginning to doze. But she remained ever watchful and quiet, like a permanent fixture of the bar. It would be difficult to notice her if one was not actively looking for her.

Such was life.

Freeze City
Outside the Dancing Jackal.

Another dark alley behind some worn down building, Farran was beginning to feel somewhat comfortable in these less than desirable conditions. He lay in the only shelter he could find, a cardboard box amongst piles of trash. Sure it smelled terrible, offending his nose to no bounds, but it was warm…er. The bags of trash acted as decent insulation combined with the snow, at least he wasn’t in danger of freezing to death, and instead actually felt somewhat cozy.

Being Farran, he did not try and hide amongst these….primates, when he entered their city. He’d been here only about a week now, and he was already beginning to miss the wilderness. There may have been almost no food, and the temperatures freezing, but at least he didn’t have to put up with the dirty scent of these humans….revolting. He actually preferred the trash.

He let out a quiet yawn.

He felt tired, maybe it was because for the last few days he had to spend his time running around looking for non-existent scraps of food. Maybe it had to do with that group of dogs, the mutts that humans like to keep on leashes and have them ‘guard’ useless things, that decided to take a shot at him. He was too weak to fight them off properly, and as much as he hated it he had had to resort to retreating.

More likely than not though, his exhaustion was a result of hunger. As he rest, trying to escape from the pangs of starvation using sleep, his stomach’s growls continued to routinely awake him.

Soon it became too much for him to handle and Farran decided to search the nearby dumpster for any potential sustenance. The average sized gray wolf, his pelt a dark grey and black with some off white on his underside, slowly got to his feet and crawled out of his ‘home’ and over to the dumpster that acted as his ‘neighbor’, hopping inside to scrounge.

After about fifteen minutes of searching, Farran’s jaws closed on something he considered a gift from the spirits above.

Meat.

It was scraps of course, and he was sure it had ‘gone bad’ as these humans say, such a ridiculous concept. He also happened to find a small piece of stale bread to go along with it. He ate slowly, trying to make it last, but even at this pace the tiny portions could barely last long. Farran decided that was as good as it was going to get and hopped back out of the dumpster. Before returning to his makeshift den, Farran ate some snow to wash the meal down.

With something in his stomach, he was able to fall asleep.

A guard who had been patrolling the perimeter of the government facility noticed the little girl who had been playing in the snow. He watched her form the disfigured snowman, and then playfully pounce it in a fit of giggles. The sight brought a warm smile to his lips. She reminded him of his own kid. Sitting obediently to his right, the German Shepherd had been watching the child the whole time, except through his brown eyes, she wasn’t a child, but a strange dog of some sort that didn’t agree with his nose. She hadn’t smelled like any dog he had ever encountered, and it put the creature on edge. He glanced up at his master when he felt the tug on his leash and he rose off his haunches to follow him as they approached the pup.

The closer they arrived the more anxious the shepherd became. His hackles were beginning to rise and froth dripped from his black muzzle. The guard stopped a yard from the girl with a bright grin shining on his face.

“Hey, that was a nice snowman. Why did you smash it?” the guard asked curiously.

Suddenly to his alarm, the German Shepherd lunged at the wolf pup. The guard tugged the leash in resistance as the shepherd remained raised on his hind legs and barking wildly at the pup. His long fangs were flashing like white daggers as hot, white plumes rolled from his chops.

“Jack! Down boy!” the guard ordered.

The shepherd lowered onto his paws and began throwing his head and shoulders forward while his snout was wrinkled and growls rolled from between his teeth. With both hands gripping the leash, the guard clenched his teeth as he tried to wrestle the hound back, watching as his paws defiantly left trails in the snow and ice. Finally, with one strong burst of strength, the German Shepherd yanked his master to the icy ground and his leash slipped free of his fingers.

With a vicious snarl, the German Shepherd lunged toward the wolf pup once more.

Tala was having such fun destroying her snow man that she barely noticed the guard and his dog until he spoke. The man didn't bother her. The little girl oftan played near the building and knew the uniforms. His agitated dog, on the other hand, put her on edge. The man's grin was met by a nervous smile from Tala as her green eyes shifted between him and his dog. "I-It was-" She started to answer, but then the Sheppard went mad.

The pup widened her eyes and started to slowly back away as the dog barked and growled. The human couldn't see it, but her ears were back and her tail between her legs with her body low to the ground. Tala wouldn't do well against a fully grown Sheppard as a little girl or a puppy. She had hoped increasing the distance would calm the dog down, but instead it lunged at her!

Terrified, Tala let out an ear piercing scram as she turned and ran for dear life. She was faster and more agile than most, but also inexperienced and scared with snow to contend with. Longer legs like the shepherd's held an advantage here. Desperate to get away, the pup headed for the closest buildings, hoping to lose the dog. -}

Oh my. Oh my, oh my. It was so beautiful the shining bauble that laid behind the clear glass. Belle wanted to reach out and grab it and kept the trinket to herself but the invisible wall kept obstructing her. The woman grimaced and pressed her forehead against it along with her hands then sighed.

“Why are all the pretty things always unreachable,” she moaned to herself and the wolf stamped her foot down into the snow. Her ears laid flat against her skull and her tail dropped down in a slump. However, something was heard on the wind by Belle’s all-too-keen ears and they pricked back up in a flash.

It was a scream; a yowl that spoke of danger.

Belle didn’t give herself another second to decide what to do as instinct took over. She pushed away from the window sill and broke out into a full sprint towards the location of the scream. Belle’s muzzle knitted together and her front teeth were bared as a growl gurgled in the back of her throat. A sense of protection was coming over her; a maternal instinct to protect a young one.

The cold air burned in Belle’s lungs but it did not stop her from attempting to barrel into the German Shepherd while releasing the held back snarl. Her maw opened wide and several dull teeth attempting to clamp down on the dog’s tender flesh at its throat. Belle’s brown eyes rolled over the wolf pup for a second before they hardened and the wolf continue to attempt to kill the dog.

“Jack!” the guard cried.

He watched the dog go chasing the little girl, who was incredibly fast. He watched her green head shrinking down the road for a few seconds before he realized, he needed to go save her. The guard rose to his feet and charged down the street with his hand clenching the sling of his rifle.

The German shepherd yelped when another wolf came out of nowhere to sink her teeth into the side of his neck. The dog was knocked upon his side and squirmed beneath her, struggling violently to get back to his feet. He snapped at her ankles and shook his head, hoping to slide free of her grip. The German shepherd snarled and flicked his pink tongue.

Tala was crying as she ran for her life. She wanted to call for her pack, for her mother... but they weren't there. The pup sipped in the snow and face planted. She was done now! She was going to be eaten! As soon as she hit the ground the girl closed her eyes, waiting for the pain of teeth sinking into her flesh. It never came. There was just a yelp.

Tala looked up slowly to see another wolf had come to her rescue. ANOTHER WOLF! Not a dog! A wolf! The pup was so shocked that she just sat frozen in the snow and stared, open mouthed and wide eyed. She should have kept running, but the only thought that kept ringing in the little girl's head was ~I'm not alone.~ Despite the chaos and the danger, Tala was more happy in that moment than she could have ever put into words.

As soon as Belle’s iron jaw clamped down around the dog’s throat, she bit down with all her wiry muscle. She aimed to collapse it’s throat and to kill it. The wolf was not going to stop until that dog’s blood painted the shocking white snow all around her even if the shepherd had gotten a few bites down on her legs. But Belle didn’t release the shepherd’s neck. She gnawed at it and shook her head from side to side with ferocity only known by wolves. A large paw attempted to claw out the dog’s eye but Belle’s main focus was on crunching it’s neck and tearing it into pieces.

‘Why am I doing this’, she thought to herself silently while her eyes hardened even more. There was great danger in revealing herself to defend an unknown pup. But the pup was a wolf and there was that instinct which did not allow Belle to ignore the cry for help. Her nose could pick up the faint scent of a human nearby but Belle could only focus on the kill.

The coopery taste of its blood flowed over her tongue and stained the fur of her maw as it frothed with spittle. Every muscle of the wolf’s body was tense and ready to make whatever necessary moves needed in order to survive. Her eyes roved over to the pup once more and a silent plea was sent out for her to run.

If Belle failed to defend them, they would both die.

Aura hurried across the street to get the paper. If she looked rush, people could pass it by as if she was in such a hurry, or even to lazy to put on a coat. Aura had a deep hatred of the cold. If she had any one worst enemy, she would personify the cold and consider it just that. She set the change on the stand, and grabbed the paper.

She rushed back to the Dancing Jackal, but took the back way because of the abundance of people that seemed to be on the streets so early in the morning. She caught a whiff of yuck-garbage. But what was that smell, lying underneath the stench? It smelled almost like a wolf. She stopped in her tracks. Took in a large breath through her nose, and she was almost positive the smell was there.

She took a few steps back, then turned to go to through the front door. She kept a cool and calm expression on her face. Even nodded a smile in the direction of a few young kids playing. Once she was in side, she yelped for help silently. She ran over to Gidon's room, knocked quickly on the door and asked him to come out, then she paced back to Elliot, and waited until she had both of their attention.

How would she present her suspicions? In all likely hood, they would tell her that it was wrong to assume because you make an a** out of you and me, or curiosity killed the wolf. She would have to be ready to defend her case, in a satisfaction brought 'em back. But she knew, if curiosity killed the wolf, not even satisfaction would bring him back. She pushed her lips together, and stood waiting to sell her case. Hopefully, they would all just go check things out.

Leto walked through Freeze City with a pleased smile, taking in the scent of the humans as though it were a drug. Nothing was better than a human town, populated with people and their belongings, filled to the brim with memories of their actions and lives. This was a place where humans were born, where they took their first steps and their first words, and it was their coffin, a place where they laid their dead and wished them a good luck on their journey to the underworld. What could be better than this? What could be better than just watching them interact? Survive? Live?

He walked amongst them as though he were a human himself, his hands in his pockets, his face buried in his scarf, and his eyes wandering the city with a mind of their own. Every shiny object, every interesting sight, he took it all in, engraving it into his mind at least temporarily. To Leto's left were a group of homeless people, huddled around a large bin that protected a fire; they paid him no attention, minding their own business, which was how he liked it. Though Leto enjoyed speaking with the humans, it was a better idea to lay low and just observe them. He was, after all, on an important life mission. There were others that did not ignore him and instead, turned their attention to his flaming hair and equally obnoxious eyes, though they knew better than to say a word to a stranger.

None had a clue tell that there was a wolf amongst them; none knew that a legend, a creature from fairy-tales told to little kids who couldn't sleep, roamed their city walls right beside them -- as if he belonged. Leto knew he didn't, of course. How could he ever consider himself a human? He was not stupid enough, not young enough, to fall for his own illusion. The wolf understood full well the differences between him and them, and though he was not as prideful as the rest of his race, he was not ungrateful enough to want to be one of the two-legged, walking with no direction in life. However, he wasn't much different; just like them, he lingered around Mother Earth, not entirely sure what the reason of his existence was. Maybe that was why he loved the human creatures so much -- wolves and humans were a lot more similar than most realized, and maybe that thought intrigued him.

As Leto wandered deeper into the city, he found that there were less and less people walking around that part of town. There was a long fence that blocked off a section, obviously keeping others out -- or where they keeping something in? Keeping something hidden...? Before he could continue his thought process and decide to jump the fence, there was a commotion far to his right. Turning his head, his powerful eyes reached the measly distance with no effort, relaying him the information: two wolves and a dog.

Scratch that -- two wolves and half a dog.

Before even telling his body what to do, Leto instinctively took off running at full speed, his intentions not what others would've thought they'd be. Strong legs stretched and reached for the next yard, pushing his body to the limit; blood rushed through his veins, pumping life and energy to assist him in his goal. He was a young wolf in love with humans, reckless and impulsive. It was only natural that he'd love the possessions of humans as well.

As the brown wolf closed the distance, he aimed to ram into the other wolf that was completely dominating the lone dog. He and her were kin; he knew that. Even though he had never met her before, he felt a bond with her because they were the same, because there weren't many of them left -- but the odd thing was, he felt a stronger bond with the humans, the very same that had eradicated his species, that continued to hunt his kind. He couldn't help but want to stop the attack on the dog, but at the same time, he couldn't very well injure his own, so Leto settled for crashing into the brown wolf, hoping that she'd release her hold on the frail beast to dodge his attack or get hit and cease her onslaught.

Her eyes flickered open when she heard Aura come in the back door. With a furrow to her brow, she lifted her chin off of her hands, waiting patiently for the other girl to come into the main room. Nothing, just the sound of footsteps tromping everywhere except where Ellie wanted the other female to be. Her gaze flickered to the ceiling, brow wrinkling as Aura knocked on Gidon's bedroom door, pleading for him to come down.

Mm. Ellie wasn't entirely sure that he would like that.

But when Aura returned to the main room, Ellie smiled for her, getting up from the seat and padding over to wear the other female stood. Trace scents floated to her from off the wolf's coat, smells of the outdoors, the wet chill of the snow, the stink of downtown city air...but there was something else, something new that sent a shudder down her back, tensing her shoulders.

Unsure of why it made her as uncomfortable as it did, Ellie took a deep breath through her nose, shaking herself out and forcing herself to relax.

"You seem anxious about something." she said patiently. "What's wrong?"

The guard was approaching the scene where he saw a strange dog, attacking Jack. The small girl was nowhere to be found, and he assumed that she had managed to get away. The stray had the shepherd by the neck and behind her was a small pup that he thought to be hers. She was perhaps a mother trying to protect her pup from the violent guard dog. For those perceived reasons, when the guard slid his rifle free of his shoulder, he had in mind to fire some warning shots to hopefully scare it. But if she hadn’t released Jack, he would be forced to kill her. He cocked the weapon and raised the scope to his right eye. He peered through the crosshair at the wolf before he aimed it just above her shoulder.

The sudden hiss of snow to his right made him hesitate. His brows lifted as he watched another stray bolt toward the female and pounce her. Whatever the strays were doing, he didn’t want them around Jack, especially if they could resort to attacking him while he’s injured. He fired off three warning shots at the dogs, hoping to scare them enough to scatter.

The Dancing Jackal

Gidon snorted awake. His eyes opened and he sat up in his bed to gaze at the door. What was going on now, and why couldn’t Ellie handle it? Not wasting any more time in the case it could have been an emergency, the black wolf stood and hopped down from the bed. He walked over to the door and grabbed the handle with his teeth, pulling it down to open it. He trotted outside and down the steps before he walked over to the bar counter in his human guise. He raised a hand to his mouth to cover a yawn before he sat on the counter top, rubbing at his eyes.

“What’s up?” he questioned, and there better had been something up because if not, he was going back to bed. His blue eyes glanced over the bar to see it was bustling as usual—not.

The pup stared at the female wolf and the dog totally frozen for what felt like forever. In reality, it was probably just a couple of minuets, or maybe even a few seconds, before the human reached them.. with a gun. It was about then that Tala realized that she had dropped her human illusion in her fear. Was he going to kill them?!

The little ball of fur finally broke free of her paralyzed state. She yelped and gave a whiny howl to warn the wolf who had saved her as she backed away. She had been so focused on the human and the dog that she didn't see the other wolf until he attacked her heroin. Another wolf?! Why would he do that?! Did he work for the humans?! Did he WANT them to die?! Tala wanted to do something to help, but so much was happening, the man had a gun, and the others were all so much bigger than her. What did she do?!

The result of Tala's panic was a pup that took a couple steps forward to bark and growl, only to back up whining a few moments later. She did this a couple of times, wanting to help but too scared to attack.

A brown wolf had come to the dog’s rescue and attempted to ram into Belle as she had rammed into the shepherd. He was successful but it only caused her to tumble and rip the flesh of the dog which was clenched between her steel-like teeth. Blood splattered across the white snow and darkened the red fur around Belle’s maw. The female rolled back over onto her feet and stood. Her brown eyes locked onto the other wolf and she snorted from her snout.

Shots fired from a human weapon made Belle flinch in a startle. Immediately, and without much thought, the female wolf went to the youngling and tried to urge her to run. Any other time, Belle would have thought the bark of the pup all too cute but with a human present, a mangled dog, and a wolf protecting the wrong side, it could wait for another time.

The ramifications of what Belle had done had not yet settled into her mind. She had blatantly attacked a human companion and he may very well notice that they were wolves, not just other dogs. What had just happened could create a ripple of events but for now, it was yet to be seen. There were always consequences to one’s actions and Belle had hardly a choice to make those actions.

The Dancing Jackal
Aura took a deep breath to compose herself to go on her round-about story. "Well, You see, When I went to get the newspaper" She lifted the paper for effect. "It got busy on my way back and so I was going to take the back way and enter through the back door, but then I smelled, well I smelled garbage at first, but then. . ."She now lowered her voice. "I think I smelled another wolf. And I wasn't sure if I alone should go investigate, but I wanted to check with you first because, well, I'm not sure what to do in this sort of a situation.'
Now that her rant had come to an end, she breathed quick and shallow. Looking at the others faces, searching. Were they going to just dismiss her? Or would they consider what she said? She looked down to her feet, gathering herself, she looked back up to Gidon, hoping. She tried to hold his gaze with a confident smile, But her decision had been made, she would investigate, with or without them.

Ellie's eyes flickered to Gidon as he walked in, glancing over the form of his human guise before looking back to Aura. Crossing her arms over her chest, she tilted her head to one side, her brow furrowing as the other wolf began to rapidly explain why she'd called the both of them together.

So, she'd possibly smelled another wolf nearby? Judging by the tone of Aura's voice, it wasn't just some regular stray dog that she was talking about. Not even a wolf in the sense that humans referred to wolves. Aura must have been talking about a wolf like them. So that was the smell that had made Ellie so uncomfortable! Could it be true? Or was it possible that Aura had just smelled something familiar that sent her off on this little tizzy. The other wolf was prone to excitement, after all. Who could blame her? In a place like this, newness was almost welcome. Anything beyond the stark, freezing cold and the boredom of a continuously empty bar was an opportunity that could be jumped upon.

She had her own opinion on the subject, of course, but it didn't seem as if Aura was looking for her approval or disapproval. Aura's eyes were fixed on Gidon, even though Ellie could detect a sort of rebellious independence rising from within the girl. Her ability to sense others emotions had kicked in full-force. Breathing in through her nose, she sighed, letting her arms fall to her sides as she went to the front door.

"I'll go take a look." she explained. No sense in having Aura do something reckless. It could have been a stray, or something more sinister, but there would be no way of knowing (and no way of sating Aura's curiosity) without going to investigate the source.

Whether or not Gidon decided to come was up to him. She figured that he would want to go back to bed, especially if this turned out to be nothing. When she opened the door, the chill breeze brushed over her skin, pushing her bright red hair back away from her face.

She actually smiled.

"Mind if I take a small break, boss?" she asked Gidon.

The Dancing Jackal

Gidon ran his fingers back through his brown hair and grinned at the mention of a new wolf. His eyes playfully rolled upwards toward the ceiling in a silly expression. For a second, he thought she was going to say something along the lines of a hunter or suspicious mongrel.

“Another wolf,” he stated, letting the news roll about in his mouth.

When Elly volunteered to investigate the situation, Gidon pushed off the counter to his feet. When she addressed him as boss, he arched a brow at her, a smile still gracing his lips.

“Hey, I never said that. Why don’t we all check it out? It’s not like this place is going to get any more exciting,” Gidon suggested.

He took two steps after Elly and paused to gaze back at Aury, wondering if she was going to follow. If the strange wolf did wind up to be feral, then it was better they all subdued him than just one. They didn’t even know how strong he was.

The black wolf reached the door behind Elly and he lowered his head to playfully bump her in the back of her calves before brushing past her. He marched toward the trashcan, his big paws crushing the snow beneath them, and he turned in an outward arch toward the wall across from the trash pile. His head lowered with caution, becoming lower than his shoulders as he sniffed at the air, smelling a unique scent among the reeking heap.

Outside the Jackal

Gunshots. Followed by the scent of blood.

Farran’s ears perked slightly as he rested. They were both faint, but he’d sensed them.

Humans were such a violent species, Farran would’ve pitied them if he didn’t resent them for being responsible for the state of the world. He hated them.

It was these negative feelings towards humans that prevented him from acting on the smells his nose picked up. While trash’s stench disguised them slightly, there was no denying the scent of other wolves.

The problem was, they came from inside the building he was resting outside of. While he was naturally interested in the fact there were others, he wasn’t exactly thrilled enough to take on his illusion and stroll inside.

Fortunately enough, it seemed they would take the initiative for him.

As Gidon approached he would hear a low growl come from Farran’s box.

“You all smell worse then I do.” He snarled, nose wrinkling and the hairs on his back prickling. He was not referring to the garbage, but a more revolting and insulting stench. They reeked of human….

Still however, he remained curled up non threateningly in his box as he glared out.

Outside the Dancing Jackal
Aura's face lit up. They believed her-or- even if they didn't believe her, they complied to check out the funky smell. She followed quickly behind them, but sought out a more, not noticeable way of going. Should there be a wolf there, it would obviously see and smell Gidon and Ellie. There was no sense of surprise with them. She quickly sunk into the shadows and through obstacles, silently, to go unnoticed.

She nestled herself atop a nearby fire escape ladder. Her nose pointed at the others. She could hear the growl. She was hunched over, in a ready stance to attack from above if she absolutely had to.
Her ears were pointed back, and her teeth were showing, as a soundless growl vibrated in her chest. This was pointless though, she would try to use persuasion before she let herself into a fight.

She would have to admit though, she was excited to see another wolf like themselves. It wasn't all too common, and well, the adrenaline was pumping through her system. Excitement could not be escaped by now. When the wolf made no threatening moves, she release her stance, letting the growl go and replacing it with the hope that the wolf would be easy to deal with, if he wanted to attack, by now he would have tried something.

When Gidon nudged her flank, Ellie turned back to him with her lips pulled back over her teeth, a growl escaping her composure as she playfully nipped at his ear. When he trotted past her, she hung back, tentatively placing one paw into the snow, withdrawing it, and then bounced from the front step and into the crunchy, cold sediment that lay thick on the ground. It was obvious that she didn’t seem all that concerned about the new smell.

Aura followed the pair outside, taking a more circuitous route to avoid detection. Ellie paid her no mind. It was good to have someone ready in the wings, but she really didn’t think that there was any real threat present here. If someone had ill intentions, she would have been able to sense the hostility.

Pressing her nose to the snow, she sniffed a moment, pulled back, and then shook her head hard enough to make her ears flap against the sides of her face. Gidon was also scenting, just a few steps ahead of her.

When the voice suddenly came from the garbage-heap, her ears pricked, tail held straight out behind her as she peered into the darkness. Glowing eyes met her stare as she trotted forward to stand at Gidon’s side.

Well, another wolf. While she was fascinated by the concept, it really came as no surprise to her. As ancient as their race was, it wasn’t entirely unrealistic to think that there were others out there like them. She’d only been in one place for a while now, with no chance to explore elsewhere, so her concept of the world was very limited.

She took a step ahead of Gidon, lowering her head closer to the ground and peering at Farran.

“I’m Ellie.” She told him. “There are far warmer places to sleep, Wolf. You’re more than welcome to come inside if you’d like.”

She straightened, taking a step back and glancing to Aura before returning her gaze to Farran. “But it’s up to you.”

She nudged Gidon’s shoulder with her own, glancing to him meaningfully before turning to trot back inside the bar.

i just really wanted to apologize
cause i felt really bad for disappearing for like two weeks...
>.<

Re: The Road to Paradise - LF 1 Female Wolf!

Showers hasn't been online since the 29th of April, so I'm going to ask Yorda to move us along. He can post a catch up of what might have happened to his wolf when he returns.

Re: The Road to Paradise - LF 1 Female Wolf!

oh yayyyy...
what joy that'll be......
:/

o the woe of being a lover!

Re: The Road to Paradise - LF 1 Female Wolf!

Only because Gidon hasn't heard Tala's story about the red wolf that got the other wolf killed. >:D

Re: The Road to Paradise - LF 1 Female Wolf!

Just giving an update. I'm working on a post, I just had to plot it out.

Re: The Road to Paradise - LF 1 Female Wolf!

left alone, hated,
and the pup doesn't even realize leto
helped out in saving her!
haha.
being a human lover is worth donkey doodoo in there

Re: The Road to Paradise - LF 1 Female Wolf!

lol I feel so sorry for Leto. Abandoned in his condition...the wolf god must be against him!

Re: The Road to Paradise - LF 1 Female Wolf!

Everyone is apparently still here. The only player I know nothing about is Psyduck. I should have tweaked Gidon's post. It just seems so dumb that he would put Tala down and tell everyone to run lol.

Re: The Road to Paradise - LF 1 Female Wolf!

i'm here!
i will be posting soon (tonight hopefully), yorda!
but if you want to post first,
that's fine with me.

Re: The Road to Paradise - LF 1 Female Wolf!

Dose anyone else want to post before I do? I'm not sure who left the rp and who's staying. ^_^"

Re: [OOC] The Road to Paradise - LF 1 Female Wolf!

I posted guys. Sorry for the wait and sorry showers for not mentioning Leto as much. I assumed he's badly hurt and couldn't do too much and also he's a "people-lover" lol.

Re: [OOC] The Road to Paradise - LF 1 Female Wolf!

sweet,
you can go ahead and post after fizz then,
sonata.

Re: [OOC] The Road to Paradise - LF 1 Female Wolf!

Fizzgig is going to post, and I'll post after her unless showers you'd like to, but just let me know. I felt my next post would give more feed to those who didn't know what to post.

Re: [OOC] The Road to Paradise - LF 1 Female Wolf!

nahh
it's probably just people were
stuck in a writer's block.
i'm sure it'll get pumping and active again soon!

Re: [OOC] The Road to Paradise - LF 1 Female Wolf!

It's not shut down. It's just no one has been posting after I asked for people to start posting. I guess everyone thought I was joking.

Re: [OOC] The Road to Paradise - LF 1 Female Wolf!

hey sonata,
"in the process of reviving"
doesn't mean the game's actually shut down
temporarily or anything, does it?
cause i was thinking about posting today.
