Gwen smiled as she skipped off towards her apartment. Her landlord approached her. "I'm sorry, but you're being kicked out today," "What?" She asked. "Your rent is way over-do, and I have warned you serval times!" Gwen's face fell. She hung her head and walked to her apartment and started to pack up her stuff.

Gwen sat down in the lobby of an apartment building. She was waiting for the landlord to check her background, then they would talk price. A whole line of people were waiting for the landlord to check them, then they would move in. Gwen sighed and leaned back. She was annoyed, she hated to wait. She tapped her foot on the floor like a nervous tick. She sighed and looked at all the others. She wished she had a roommate, there was no way she could pay the bill at this point.

Natalie was in line at this new apartment complex waiting for her turn to sign in so she could move in. She was very excited to get away from the rich scene and to settle down here. Natalie liked living simple, but she also enjoys having her money as a safety blanket. She doesn't use her money irresponsibly; she knows how to use it correctly. She noticed a blue haired girl that seemed to move a lot in her chair. "Hey, are you okay?" Natalie asked.

"You don't understand, this is my last choice, I don't have anywhere else to go." Came a desperate voice, a woman standing in a flattering pink blouse and skinny white jeans leaned against the front counter, sliding her papers across the counter to the woman who had been taking the applications. "I'm sorry Miss Boone, if you can't make the rent, I can't help you." The woman said in a dismissive tone. Katherine Boone groaned in frustration, pulling her hair over one shoulder as she turned and went to go sit down. She was only two hundred and fifty dollars short of the initial rent fee that the woman was charging for the first month.

Katherine had been all over town looking for a suitable apartment within walking distance of the hospital she worked at, this was the last one on her list and things weren't looking too well. Putting her head in her hands she leaned forward, looking down at the freshly waxed floor. She turned her head to the side as she heard a voice a few seats down. "Hey, are you okay?" The voice came from a pretty dark skinned lady, directed to a fidgety looking woman with soft teal colored hair.

"Excuse me," Katherine moved down a seat, leaning forward to see the both of them, smiling softly. "Would either of you happen to have a lighter?" Kat had forgotten to put one in her pocket and hoped one of these girls would be kind enough to lend a light long enough for her to have a cigarette. She would have to start cutting back on her spending, which meant no more smokes, this could be her last cigarette for awhile.

"This is ridiculous." She nodded towards the lobby of people waiting just like they were. "They were smart," Kat mentioned, motioning with a small hand wave to the two signing up together. "Splitting the rent, wish I had thought of that." There was a slow smile spreading across her expression as she laughed at her idiocy.

Gwen looked up.
"Oh sorry I don't smoke. I did, but then my cousin got really sick, and it scared me into stooping. He had smoked for like 6 years. Oh and I'm alright, I'm just a little nervous because I don't know if I can make the rent, cuzI got kicked out of my last apartment," Gwen spoke quickly, like she usually did. She had always been hyper, and it annoyed a lot if people sometimes.

It was around 3:30 in the evening and Tegan was just getting back from work at the Bridgeport Plaza Starbucks. She was called in to cover her coworker Jen's shift. Jen was an insanely lackadaisical girl who often slept through her work hours, but when Tegan got there the problem had been resolved and she was a bit pissed that she'd rushed out of her apartment for no reason so she got herself a venti soy green tea frap with whipped cream and turned her 2013 Prius Hybrid back around and returned to the complex. When she got there she saw that the apartment diagonal hers had it's door wide open and was completely bare, she'd remembered the landlord mentioning something about doing background checks on some candidates for the apartment and that he'd have someone moved in as early as today. Tegan was quite anxious and curious to see who her new neighbors would be especially since the floor had been pretty much vacant for a while so she kept her apartment door wide open so she could see the arrival of the new tenant and busied herself with organizing her art portfolio, and playfully strumming the tune Bravado by Lorde while she sang along.

"Oh I'm sorry, I don't smoke either. Ever since my mother's sister died from it, I've been too scared to even try. I'm afraid of addictive drugs." Natalie said with a small grin. "Oh I'm sorry, where are my manners? I'm Natalie Edwards. I'm from the suburbs from outside of town. My father is the head of the most powerful corporation in the city. The rich scene isn't for me so I came to live here closer to the university. I like to work for my money. I volunteer at the local soup kitchens in town to donate clothes." Natalie said with a geeky grin. "How about you two? What are your names? What do you do?" She asked excitedly.

Gwen smiled.
"Oh! Wonderful to meet you, I used to have a friend named Natalie, but we called her Nat, she had REALLY pretty blue hair, which she died when she was like 12, and her parents were really mad. I'm Gwen, and I perform at a local Cafe, have you heard of it? It's called Luna's cafe, my second cousin owns the place along with her boyfriend, it's awesome there," Gwen spoke very quickly, not even taking a breath.

After a while idly strumming along got boring. Nothing was good enough while the excitement of new neighbors was taking root in Tegan's brain that was dying for any type of companionship, especially since she barely has any friends at school, and was on a strict work buddies only relationship with her coworkers.

In an attempt to ease the nagging thought in her head she headed down the corridor and took the elevator down to the main level where are slue of men, woman and children stood and sat waiting. As it seemed they were all in line and sitting around the place waiting to meet with the Landlord who was doing quasi-interviews and pretty illegitimate background checks.
"What's going on here?" Tegan asked the scruffy haired landlord inquiringly.
"I'm looking for America's. Next. Top. Tenant." He said dramatically, expecting a laugh but Tegan simply rolled her eyes at his terribly corny joke.
"You're not funny Spencer." She remarked to the man playfully.
"I beg to differ." He protested with a chuckle as Tegan surveyed the place quickly, her eyes instantly locked on a blue haired girl sitting on the decrepit blue couch by the window.
"What about her? She looks pretty interesting, and seems like she's friends with that girl next to her. Two tenants, one apartment, that sounds like a stable source of rent." Tegan remarked as she pointed to the red head and blue haired ladies who were chatting away.
"Yeah... that makes sense, you ever consider being my assistant? We'd be like Joker and Harley Quinn!" He exclaimed, showing his nerdy side.
"Uhm, no thanks I'll pass pudin'." Tegan said, putting on her best Jersey\New York accent emulating the great Harley Quinn.
"Who else do you think'd work Miss. All Seeing Eye?" Spencer Radley Inquired as he put his clip board down and pushed away his scruffy red hair that was shielding his glasses.
"Uh... how about... that girl over there." Tegan said as she pointed to a tall ebony woman with a shaved head, she looked oddly familiar. It took her a while to place it but then it all came back to her. Tegan had seen the girl on TV for a fundraiser for some charity, it was one of those rich people events where they'd invite as much press as they could manage and then claim they were donating for the greater good, it made her sick but she was dying to know more about this girl.
"I think her name is Natalie Edwards. I've seen her on the News once." Tegan said as Spencer squinted his eyes.
"Ah! So it is, thanks for the help Blondie." Spencer said as Tegan stuck her tongue out at him at the crude, yet endearing nickname.
"Hey you three!" Spencer hollered across the room as he pointed his skinny fingers at the group.
"Get over here and sign these leases, you've got yourselves apartments!"

Gwen looked up.
"Huh?" A door opened, and Gwen saw who she was waiting for.
"Nick! There you are!" She ran over to him.
"Hey!" He laughed and picked her up and swung her around.
"Put me down!" She protested. He laughed and put her down.
"How's my favorite gem doing?" He asked, giving her a big grin.
"NOt so good! I got kicked out today! I texted you like 5 times!"
Nick shrugged.

Katherine Boone

Image
Katherine let out a disappointed sigh as both women admitted that they didn't smoke. "I'm Kat." The fiery red head introduced with a calm smile. Lifting a neatly trimmed and dark brow, Katherine watched in silence as the girl with the blue hair, Gwen, jolted up out of her seat, running over to a dark haired man. The two were obviously close as the eccentric girl clung to him, giving him the bad news of how she had gotten kicked out. Her attention didn't last long on the two as a different voice made her turn swivel to the side. There stood a man and woman, the man pointing with an outstretched finger towards where Katherine and the dark woman, Natalie, sat.

"I'm sorry did you say we have apartments?" Katherine questioned in disbelief, running a hand through her curly mess of hair, parting it to one side and smoothing it over her shoulder as she leaned forward, elbows placed on her knees, heading tilting out of curiosity. Her eyes looked to Natalie, shoulders shrugging softly as she stood walking towards the two strangers slowly. "Ha, where do I sign?" She asked with a small laugh, leaning to one side with her hands sliding into the back pockets of her white jeans, the pearl flower on her gold necklace coming to rest between her breasts as she stopped moving.

"What's the catch?" Eyes narrowing suspiciously at the two. It was odd that they would just offer leases to complete strangers without doing any research on their background. Besides, she didn't make enough to pay rent by herself, that's why she was here begging the tenant to give her a few weeks to catch up with her rent. Katherine's attention swayed back to Gwen as she told her friend she had just gotten kicked out and was also looking for an apartment. An imaginary light bulb flickered above Katherine's head as she chewed her bottom lip. "One sec," She said to Tegan and Spencer.

Hesitantly she walked towards the girl and boy, heels clicking softly on the waxed floor, coming to a stop at their side. With a nervous smile she waved to the boy and then turned her head to Gwen. "You just got kicked out? I know this may sound...Forward, but I got kicked out too," She took a deep breath. "I just got offered a lease from the two people behind me...But I cant pay all of the rent, so I was wondering if you wanted to split rent with me?"

Gwen raised an eyebrow.
"REALLY! THAT WOULD BE GREAT!" Gwen bounced around.
Nick snorted.
"Ok, you can calm down now!"
"NEVER!" Gwen giggled. Nick snorted.
"Are you sure you want to share an apartment with her?" Nick teased.
"You suck!"
"Eh. Better you being her roommate than me!" Nick grinned widely. Gwen crossed her arms.
"You're making me sadish," Gwen protested.

"There is no catch, Spencers just a complete quack." Tegan joked as Spencer Radley shot her a glare.
"It is true... but I'm never dull." He said as he picked up three clipboards from the counter and and handed them to the ladies.
"He's really a great Landlord, I live on the 5th floor of the complex, right above that is the roof, it's really cute and great for parties. Trust me you'll love it here." Tegan said with a friendly smile as she unsheathed her phone from her pocket and flicked through the gallery.
"This is my apartment, it's a two bedroom but I converted the second bedroom into a dark room to develop my photos." She said as she showed the pictures to Natalie, Gwen, Nick and Katherine.
"It's 600 dollars from both of you each month, and you have an awesome view of the park and lake from your balconies." Spencer spoke with a sing songy lull to his voice.
"He's right, it's a pretty kickass view." Tegan seconded eagerly.

Gwen smiled. "I can make that,"
"Are you sure? Melissa is the stingiest person alive,"
Gwen giggled. She then looked at Nick.

Nick looked at his watch.
"Shit!" He exclaimed. Nick tugged at Gwen's arm.
"We gotta go, now!"
Gwen nodded.
"Do you guys wanna come?"

Charlie had just finished dressing himself as he flew down the stairs. He wasn't sure what he was going to do today, but he did have to be down at the book store later to help out the owner. He walked casually into the lobby where he noticed the line of possible new tenants. There was a group of them, two of which he recognized, that stood out from the rest.

He observed them quietly for a few moments, noting the excitable teal haired girl and the one with the shaved head. The other girl he did not know did not look as interesting, but who was he to judge?

As he was friends with Nick and knew Tegan a bit, he proceeded to walk over to them, just as Nick was checking the teal haired girl's watch. "Why hello to you too Nick," Charlie commented with a grin after the other man had released an expletive. He raised an eyebrow, wondering where this rag tag group of strangers was going and if he could come too.

Katherine Boone

Image
Katherine laughed as Gwen excitedly accepted her proposition, feeling her heart swell as she turned to Tegan. The strawberry blonde explained how much rent was going to be, what the apartment would look like, and how much she was going to love it. "Thank you so much," Katherine said breathlessly, a weight having been lifted off of her shoulders, her gratitude directed to both Gwen and Tegan. Taking a clipboard she deftly and without hesitation signed at the bottom of the papers, smiling like a child on Christmas.

Having signed the papers happily she turned to Gwen and her friend Nick, nodding her head at the girl's offer. "Yeah sure, I'm game. Where you two headed?" Katherine asked, pulling her hair over a shoulder, playing with the ends between two fingers. Turning her had to a new voice she watched as a brown haired man came to walk and stand next to Nick, obviously knowing who he was.

Katherine felt her cheeks heat up, flushing with a soft pink color as she looked to the floor and then back up to look at this new, and attractive man, smiling softly. It was always a bonus when cute boys lived in the same apartment, both Nick and this new man were alluring, though something told Katherine that Nick swung for the same team she did. And lets not forget about the attractive landlord Spencer, however it was never a great idea to get involved with the person you owed rent to each month.

"You two wouldn't happen to have a light on you, would you?" Katherine asked once more two Nick and Charlie, feeling ridiculous for having to continuously ask. If only she had remembered her own damn lighter. "Sorry to be such a bother." Katherine apologized shrugging her shoulders and tugging at her hair.

Natalie graciously accepted Spencer's proposal on the lease she had to sign. "How much would it be for me to stay? I was sort of looking forward to a two bedroom apartment. Do you have one like the one that Gwen and Katherine are going to stay in? I am able to pay you up front." Natalie asked Spencer as he looked at her weary. Natalie noticed his hesitant look so she spoke up. "I promise. I will be a perfect tenant!" She spoke almost too happy. Spencer reluctantly gave her the lease to sign, and she signed away. With that, Natalie was settled in. She approached the group again to see that the strawberry blonde haired girl was talking about her photography. "Hey, I think I've seen your work before. Did you ever show it down at the art gallery on Browning Avenue?" Natalie asked curiously. Before she had the chance to answer however, Natalie was being tugged on by Gwen's friend Nick out front to their car.

"You coming?" Nick asked. Gwen waved her arms.
"HEY! Are you coming?" Gwen teased. Everyone who was coming followed them. An angry red head approached Gwen and Nick.
"You're late,"
She growled. Gwen rolled her eyes and got up on the small stage. Nick picked up his guatir and motioned for the other band members to start playing. Gwen started to sing.

Oh yeah yeah

The situation turns around
Enough to figure out
That someone else has let you down
So many times
I don't know why

But I know we can make it as long as you say it

So tell me that you love me yeah
And tell me that I take your breath away
And maybe if you take one more then I would know for sure
There's nothing left to say
Tell me that you love me anyway

So tell me that you love me anyway
Whoa whoa oh

Waking up beside yourself
And what you feel inside
Is being shared with someone else
Nowhere to hide
I don't know why

But I know we can make it as long as you say it

So tell me that you love me yeah
And tell me that I take your breath away
And maybe if you take one more then I would know for sure
There's nothing left to say
But tell me that you love me anyway

Show me look what we found turn it around every day
I can hear what you say
Now I know why, know we can make it

If you tell me that you love me yeah
And tell me that I take your breath away
And maybe if you take one more...

So tell me that you love me yeah
And tell me that I take your breath away
Maybe if you take one more then I would know for sure
There's nothing left to say
But tell me that you love me anyway

Gwen smiled at everyone as they clapped

The sound of Gwen's voice soothed Natalie as she continued to listen to her gig. She turned to Katherine who was sitting next to her. "They're actually pretty good. I had no idea!" She yelled over the music playing in the background. Natalie turned back to Gwen's signing. After about an hour, Gwen and Nick finished playing. Natalie went up to hug Gwen and Nick to congratulate them on her amazing performance. "Gwen! Nick that was amazing!" She exclaimed. "We have to go out and celebrate!" Natalie said jumping a bit. "Know any places we could go?" Natalie asked as they were finished packing up their material.

Gwen smiled and tapped on the table.
"We are going to the Bridgeport Grove!" Gwen ran off towards the car.
"C'mon!"
As soon as they got there, they were greeted by a pair of women.
"Hey Gwen! Hey Nick!" They smiled and moved aside so they could walk in.
Gwen smiled and walked into a room filled with ping-pong tables, mulitple flat screen TVs, nice couches, a mini Starbucks, pool tables and other fun.

"It's like hell. Lettmme guess, two cinnamon groves?"

Natalie was skeptical on whether she should try the drink she was ordered. The cinnamon grove sounded delicious, but it was still not her usual starbucks order. She sucked it up and thanked Nick and Gwen for the drink. Once they ordered the drinks, the group of people she was currently with sat down. "Thanks again for the coffee you guys," she started. "Oh, and I can't wait for your next gig. You have to tell me when it is, and I'll be there!" Natalie exclaimed as the drinks arrived. She thanked the guy who kissed Nick earlier. It was a shame because this James guys was pretty cute, and Natalie loved his eyes. After moments of prolonging to try her drink, she finally did. It was a great blend of the cinnamon and coffee. She's never tasted anything like it before. "Wow, this is pretty good. Thanks again Gwen!" Natalie smiled like a fool once more as the group of people continued to talk.

It was around five pm and Sam was just getting off of work so he stopped by the nearest coffee shop where there were a bunch of up and coming indie bands and amateur singers performing. When he arrived the place was pretty packed and there was nowhere to sit in sight except at a table near the stage where a group of friends sat chatting, Sam went to go order his Café au lait and then walked over to the group when he noticed two of the guys from the apartment complex.
"Hey, James and Nick, right?"
"We live in the same complex, I was wondering if you guys mind me sitting with you?" He asked, as he looked over at the ladies at the table and smiled charmingly.
