Um, hey!
Jack was about to look up at the sound of the boy's voice when the boy had called out to him, momentily distracted from his thoughts on his thesis, when he collided with a tangle of red hair. He stumbled back, disoriented, pain radiating through his frame. He sat there for a moment, recovering himself, and then turned to the girl he'd run into, surveying her.
Fiery red hair, tough aura, and not surrounded by other girls. From what he could recall of stories that drifted around school, she matched the discription of the cloned version of Anne Bonny perfectly. He tried to recall what he knew about her, trying to ignore everything he knew about her original--
she's her own self, just as I am me. We're not all exactly like our originals, after all. He could vaguely remember being disturbed in class a while ago by some of his classmate's idle gossip about her punching out some kid's teeth, but he hadn't really taken the rumor seriously, dismissing it as useless prattle from people who didn't have anything better to do with their lives then to talk about others behind their backs. Now that he saw her though, he could at least believe all the rumors about her being a tough loner.
However, it didn't matter if she was a loner or a bully or just someone with rage issues. She was still as much of a person as the rest of them and still had feelings and things that troubled her, and he'd continue to treat her as a descent person until she gave him a reason to do so otherwise.
Just to be safe, I probably shouldn't bring up her original. If she has the same feelings as I do about my original, and the rumors are true, then I could get punched in the face. I can't afford to waste a day at the dentist over a couple of teeth. I'd never finish my thesis on time if that happened.I'm so sorry! Are you okay?
he said, hastening to her side.
You know, you shouldn't daydream in the middle of hall like that, or accidents like this will happen all the time! I suppose it was partially my fault for not paying attention too though. But I was just having a wonderful debate in my head about hatred, and if it was as destructive for the soul of a clone as it was for the soul of a human being-- you know, as part of my thesis. But, even if it is a great topic to toss about, it's still no excuse for running into you. Again, I'm terribly sorry....
