To start off, she is a sweet girl, and not the brightest either. She will talk to anyone, and is quite oblivious to sarcasm, dirty looks, or mean comments. She is a good listener, too - well, apart from her occasional random outbursts - and would hate to do anything to hurt others, which is possibly from the fact she was bullied when she was younger. She is one of those girls who wouldn't hurt a fly, and will cry for hours after squishing a ladybug. Infact, she once attempted to give a fly mouth-to-mouth after spilling her coffee on it. It didn't work, if you were wondering.
Coraline is also... mentally unstable, which is obviously going to affect her personality. If you notice her with wide, fearful eyes, or she starts talking to thin air, she is most likely having one of her hallucinations again. Yes - hallucinations. That's not all that is 'wrong' with her, but it is the main issue. She can have some extreme changes in personality when only a single word is uttered - an example would be when her friend, or perhaps aquaintance would be the right word, said "That dress looks really weird on-" Corlaine, who had been peacefully making a daisy chain, stood up and started screaming at the girl. It wasn't the comment that had annoyed her, she just seems to have a strong aversion to the words 'weird,' 'srange,' or 'crazy.'
Also, Coraline is ver childlike. She will still be foun giggling at the word 'do-do,' or skipping around in the garden. She does have a childlike mind - even at fifteen.

Disorders/Disabilities
Coraline has a slight 'sanity' issue. Basically, she isn't sane. She has had many hallucinations, and they happen on a regular basis, at the most random times. There seems to be no triggers at all to these hallucinations, and they aren't very similar - except for one, a constant hallucination of an eleven year old girl named Ruby Simons, who is constantly asking for help of some kind. There are also the voices she hears in her mind, whoich are most likely related to the hallucinations. Oh, and the fact that she seems to be... not-so-bright. Though whether she just isn't of the average IQ, or this is part of her mental issues, is unknown.
Now, back to the hallucinations. The buggest problem with them is they 'force' her to do things. She can apparently feel, see, smell and hear her hallucinations, four of the five senses. And who knows, maybe she can taste them too, but to be honest, she's never really tried.
She has tried to commit suicide in the past, but later claimed that 'Ruby' threatened to kill her family if she didn't.

Well, first there is Cora, which she has a strict 'no-under-a-day' rule, which basically means that if you have known her for less than a ay, then you can't call her that. She is extremely precise about it, too, and if you met her at 2:38, you would have to wait until atleast 2:00 until you can call her that.
Then there are those 'not-so-nice' nicknames; Freak, Insane, Ruby, etc.
History
Coraline was born on December 13 completely sane to Robin and Melissa Adams. They lived in a small apartment on the fifth floor, and ever since Coraline can remember, her parents have fought. Yelling in the kitchen, nights where Robin would sleep on the couch, and bruises on Melissa's arm didn't escape the notice of the ten year old. But Coraline had bigger problems. She was bullied in school by two twelve year old girls, who called her names that ranged from immature freak to bitch. Coraline would come home in tears, and her worn-out paents wouldn't even notice.
When Coraline was thirteen, her mother commited suicide, though no one is sure why. She jumped off the roof of the apartment building, and fell eight storeys down until she landed on the sidewalk. She died immediately. This is presumed to be the reason that Coraline went insane.
Coraline herself attempted to commit suicide. She stood in the kitchen, knife in hand, with her father at the other side of the room. She had ordered her father not to move. "Ruby will kill you!" she shrieked, so her father froze, secretly dialling 911 behind his back. She shakily placed the knife to her throt just as the cops barged through the door, stopping her just in time.
