Description
Faeries
There are four types of Faeries. The Shadow/Winter Faeries of North Avalon, Light/Summer Faeries of the South, Nature/Spring Faeries of the East, and Flame/Autumn Faeries of the West. Let's start with their powers, yes?
All Faeries, no matter the type, can share these abilities:
Flight – They can manifest wings whenever they so choose. Their wings are extremely powerful, allowing them speedy flight and creation of strong gusts. With how powerful their wings are, Faeries do not have hollow bones like a bird.
Telepathy – Actual speech in Avalon is rare, as well is lying. Every Faerie has the ability to see into the minds of others as well as relay their thoughts to others. Royal Fae have the ability to read the minds of Vampires, whereas other Fae do not due to “dampened” magic through mixed bloodlines.
Shrinking – Faerie tales often tell of small creatures with wings that are no taller than a flower. This is somewhat accurate, as they have the ability to shrink themselves down to 1/20th of their normal height. Often they appear as a small orb of glowing light.
Glow – The cliché Faerie Glow! They can “turn off” their glow if they wish, but they are unable to hide it when they are in a state of absolute bliss or when calling upon a great amount of power. The color reflects which type of Faerie they are. The intensity of the brightness gives away how happy they are or how strong the magic is that they are calling upon.
Ah! The weaknesses of the Faeries. Well. They are immortal. Their bodies resist disease and do not age past their twentieth year. They are forever young and happy, known to be quite the masters of the arts. But everyone has a weakness. For them, each other. And Vampires. If Vampires exsanguinate a Faerie, that Faerie will die and all of their powers will divide among their children. It seems that more and more Faeries are dying lately, leaving quite powerful offspring. The results aren't good.
Faeries have a highly attractive charm to all that lay eyes on them with the exception of Witches and those of the paranormal state. They are irresistible because everything about you draws them in. Especially the way they smell. Even the Shadow Faeries - Hey, just because they wield shadows doesn't mean they are evil. They smell like all that is pure and good in the world. They smell like cupcakes and a freshly baked cake and caramel apples. For Vampires, it is illegal to consume Faerie blood without consent of the Faerie. It is highly addictive and draining a Faerie will induce a drunken state. Though, for other creatures, they need only a drop of Faerie blood upon their tongue.
Witches
Witches can either be born a witch or they can be humans who practice magical powers that get called"witches" after awhile. Those humans are mostly of the religion of Wiccian. Almost anyone is capable of becoming a witch, however one must harness the spiritual energy and supernatural forces that surrounds them in everyday life. Although the majority of witches receive their magic from a Higher Power, natural born witches receive their magic through genetics, which often begin to develop during their early childhood.
The origin of witchcraft remains a mystery, however according to leaders of their courts, magic has existed longer than vampires and ever faeries, and dates back to the beginning of the Earth itself. Whether or not it's true... Debatable and the creatures have debated about many, many times. Since then, witches have existed for many centuries, passing down their knowledge and skills through generations in family lines. Contrary to popular belief, witches do not receive their powers from demons, nor do they worship the Devil. (Well, most don't anyways.) Instead, many witches inherit their magic from nature and may practice their powers however they choose.
Here are the powers they could have:
Channeling-The act of drawing and invoking extra forms of energy by focusing on celestial events.
Conjuration-The act of calling, commanding, or summoning a certain object, person, and/or spirit already in existence.
Elemental Control-The act of controlling and manipulating the elements of air, earth, fire, water, and weather.
Levitation-The act of floating, flying or rising ones body in the air by supernatural means.
Spell casting-The act of changing and/or controlling events through the use of charms, hexes, rituals, etc.
Telekinesis-The act of controlling and manipulating the movements of objects and persons by mental influence.
Witches Brew-The act of brewing and concocting paranormal elixirs that contain supernatural properties.
Spiritual sensing-The ability to feel spiritual activity.
Out of all the creatures, witches are the ones mostly looked down upon unless you are powerful like the leader. But beware, they are more powerful then the wolves, vamps, shifters, and humans give them credit for...
