There once was a greedy man who founded a company on impure intentions. He wanted to create a serum that would attack white blood cells in the human body and strengthen them to protect against disease and infections. His lifespan would double, maybe triple and his reflexes would be beyond that of any animal. He would have more power than anyone, so he could control anything. Halfway through the project, his desires were washed away. Scientists found themselves at road blocks and dead ends, unable to figure out how to stabilize the serum and complete it. Time past for the greedy man and eventually he succumbed to disease, and like any mortal being, he passed away.

Years later the Government happened to cross the information of this serum. It peaked their interests, and so came the reintroduction of the research. The government hired the best of the best, from the most prestigious universities and colleges, from all over the world, but they too could not control and complete the serum. The head of development, Cordelia Parker thought it may be time to shut down the production, until fate seemed to strike her.

News casts began to tell of brilliant people who could create things the world had never thought of before. A female who could take dirt and turn it into engine fuel. A male who could send telepathic messages to a computer using a headband he created. The more Cordelia searched, the more brilliant minds she found; all of which created new technologies no one she knew had even thought of. Why hadn’t see found them sooner, you ask? Because all of these people were children. Teenagers who had grown up in the technological world, who could see what older scientists had done and make it better. Fresh new minds with fresh new perspectives. The idea was ridiculed at first, but the longer she pestered her superiors, the more welcomed they were to bringing in teenagers; people who could bring new ideas to the plate. Soon enough six teen geniuses were at their front steps looking to help crack into the serum.

Six of them were brought in; three girls, three boys. In astounding time, with all their brains put together, they were able to complete the serum. But there was still a problem; would it actually work? This is where the children thought their jobs were complete, but Cordelia Parker had a much darker plan for them.

Over the time the serum was being completed, many things changed in Ms. Parker’s life. Her husband and children left her, she had nowhere to live, no one to love, and so she turned to her work. She watched the teenagers process in finishing the drug and became obsessed with the project herself. Oh the things the serum could do for her. It could make her rich beyond her wildest dreams, and she could win her family back with that money… The only thing standing in her way was the children and the testing. So she came up with a brilliant plan.

They needed to make sure how much to dilute the drug for its fullest effects, so against their free will, Cordelia took the children and used them as her drug testers. One was given a drug with 30% power, the next with 40%, another with 50%, another with 60%, one with 75% drug power and lastly one was injected with a pure 100%.

The drug worked in more ways than they had ever anticipated though. The serum violently attacked their body’s cells in a miraculous way, causing them to change into something more. Spectacular powers flourished from within, amazing transformations from normal humans to mutants. Stronger than ever before, they caused a threat, but also a fascinating research project. The kids were held captive, tortured and probed, until one day they decided to escape.

Six teenagers. Six very different powers… But only five survived the serum and escaped.

Rules:

{ Reservations }
Please reserve characters in the OOC with what face claim you wish to use, as well as what power you would like them to have. I won't accept a random submission, no matter how awesome they are. Also, this is not a first come, first serve role-play and you might have to compete for your spot should another person show interest. If you find this tedious and unnecessary, you are free to leave this role-play at any time. And, although you reserve a character, they will be chosen based on creativity, depth, length, and originality. The more creative and detailed your character sheet, the more likely you'll get accepted. You may use whatever character sheet you please so long as its nice to look at.
{ Literacy }
Not only will I be looking for details in your character sheet, but proper grammar and spelling as well. This role-play is to be literate, meaning posts are to be kept at a minimum of 100+ words.. Now, I know we are not perfect and we all make mistakes but if you cannot use a proper spell check, it will reflect within your character sheet! So please, be at least semi-literate with the capability to post at minimum one hundred words.
{ Commitment }
I am aware that we all have lives outside of role-playing and our computer screens. Some of us either attend school or have a full-time job, sometimes both. All I ask is that you post at least twice a week. If, for any reason, you find yourself unable to post for x-amount of time, please notify me. I do not bite, I do not get angry, however; should you fail to notify me of your departure, I will boot you out of the role-play. I am also aware that some of us may be in other role-plays, and I understand those come first. Notification of departure and how much time you'll be gone is all I ask for.
{ God-modding, Bunnying, Meta-gaming }
God-modding, bunnying, and meta-gaming are strictly prohibited. God-modding is defined as cheating the system so your character is virtually invincible. This is similar to the term "mary-sue" or "gary-sue" in a way. God-modding usually involves a character leaving a battle unscathed. This also includes unapproved hits and/or kills. Bunnying is the use of another character, who is neither your own nor an NPC, without the permission of the character's owner. When your character is attacking, assume each hit misses. When your character is defending, make sure to allow a believable amount of punches/kicks/etc. to hit your character. The term meta-gaming refers to accidentally or purposely using outside knowledge that affects the role-play. For example, if your character knows of a sneak-attack, yet wasn't present at the discussion of it, then it is improbable and considered meta-gaming.

Re: The Serum Effect

Are we still going forward with this RP?

Re: The Serum Effect

I'm still on board, sorry I haven't submitted a wip yet! I haven't had the chance to get on my computer due to some personal stuff. I'll do my best to submit something either this evening or some time tomorrow.

Re: The Serum Effect

Sounds good all!

Re: The Serum Effect

I think I'm going to make my character have teleportation powers if that's alright.

Re: The Serum Effect

I'm still here. :) I submitted Quintus as a WIP.

Re: The Serum Effect

@GrimBones66 - Sounds excellent, just let me know.

@Everyone else - Okay, so I have had a terrible essay project bestowed upon me and just finished, thus my absence. I am now back, so I shall be uploading my own CS soon... As long as everyone is wanting to continue?

Re: The Serum Effect

Hello there ^^
I was looking to reserve the leader of the group with the Face claim of Steven Yeun but I haven't really decided on a power yet so i'll let you know as soon as I find one that'll fit him :) Also I really like the idea of this role play and the front page which is simple but inviting :D

Re: The Serum Effect

Sounds good guys! I will try and get the FC's on the main page as soon as possible. In the meantime, try and get those CS in if you could and maybe ask your friends if they want the other role, if not, I will take it :P

Re: The Serum Effect

My character will have the power of sound manipulation, which would include being able to mimic voices. I'm fine with having my character be the 40%, because I think Malachite's character's power would work better for a 50% injection. As for a FC: I've decided on Cameron Mitchell.

Re: The Serum Effect

@SlightlyInsane, that sounds good to me, I just need a face claim! :D

@Malachite, Also sounds good. I will wait for SlightlyInsane to decide and then put you on the front page.

@WhenWorldsFall okay! Have fun! Wish I could go to Belgium!!!

Re: The Serum Effect

I'm going away for a week to Belgium :) therefore if the hotel doesn't have free wifi I won't be able to submit a character submission till I get back on the Sunday :) but I will be thinking about my character submission while I'm away :) x

Re: The Serum Effect

I'd also be interested in either the 50% or 40% position, whichever SlightlyInsane doesn't go for I suppose!

For my characters power I was thinking about him having future/past visions that are triggered by touch- for example, he touches another person and sees some significant event that's going to happen to them at some point or something that happened to them previously in their life. Based on how much control you think he'd have over it at that level, perhaps he can tell exactly how far into the future/past he's seeing, choose whether he views the future or the past, or his power could also work on objects. It needs some work, but yeah, I'd love input.

As far as a face claim goes, I'd like to use Iwan Rheon.

Re: The Serum Effect

Hello there. I just wanted to say that I am interested in this and would create a character for either the 50% or 40% injection male depending on what power I would decide on. I just wanted to let you know that I'm interested. :)

Re: The Serum Effect

Okay well in that case, perhaps a character with a slightly stronger dose would suit the power I've got in mind for my character :)

Hopefully this gets a bit more interest as it is a good idea.

Re: The Serum Effect

@WhenWorldsFall: Sound's good. I'm not quite sure what to call it yet, so I will wait until your character sheet is in.

Also, I want to clear up a few things here:
1. The more powerful a dose your character has had of the serum injected into them, the stronger their power will be, but also the harder to keep stable or in control of.
2. I am also kind of leaning towards making an existing character female, or making other characters if this seems to gain a lot of interest. Just let me know what you want and we can work it out.

Re: The Serum Effect

This sounds like it could be excellent! I had an idea similar to this a while ago but never put it into action! Could I reserve scientist six with the same face-claim as yours considering they'll be twins. I'm feeling identical twins :) if that's alright?

edit:

Actually, could the face-claim be Lydia Holland please? And could the original sister who has passed away be the same. In regards to power, I wouldn't know what to call it but my idea is for her to be able to use the life force of things around her. For example if she has a wound or illness she could steal the life force of objects around her to heal herself whether its plant-life, animals or humans. Maybe give her own life force to others to heal them? I'd say it'd be a difficult power to control, maybe her body takes from the life around her when she's in need whether she wants to or not. I'd go into more detail on my character profile if it's a suitable power.
