Races:

Elementals: Said to be the oldest race to walk the earth. Elementals are a branch of humans with magical potency. Idolized in some cultures and societies as the ideal of physical condition, Elementals usually stand taller and tend to be more physically fit than other races, the magic coursing through their body is able to heal them and keep them fit much easier than other races. They typically live to around 100-120 years, and their ability to manipulate the elements was revered as god-like for thousands of years, though this has obviously changed. The Elementals are seen by some as a backward culture of religious fanatics who refuse to move forward, due to a large amount of their population having a common polytheistic religion, while this can be true for some cultures, most have learned to adapt the older ways of their people to the newer technology of the modern day. Though hate-crimes toward this race have not spiked or occurred very much over the past several years, subtle prejudice is still thick in the air.

Humans: The middlemen and the most ambitious race found in most continents. Humans are referred to (sometimes affectionately, sometimes not) as the β€˜awkward phase’ between Elementals and Aerians, humans are a sort of mix between the technologically-minded and the magically-minded. Some humans with an elemental lineage (a common situation) are born with subtler magical abilities, though not often to a large or significant extent. These abilities can include things such as: Being able to hover a few inches or a foot off the ground, the ability to change hair colour at will, or the ability to turn liquids into gas. Despite being the largest population in the continent, humans are often regarded with contempt by the other two races. They have an average lifespan of 70-85 years, a height that is not tall or short, and no real large advances in the departments of magic or sciences. However, despite the Aerians’s love of knowledge and literacy, the Humans dominate the realm of myth and arts. While Aerians are known for their grandiose technology and Elementals for their beautiful ancient architecture and elegant culture, most history books are written by Humans, who have left their mark on the world with their wide array of talents, usually involving the fiction they write, their copious contributions to the art/music/dramatic world, and of course their most famous moment in history: creating, implementing, and sustaining the peace/anti-discrimination treaty between the Elementals and Aerians. Humans are known as the jack of all trades, and the unseen ruling class.

Aerians: Said to be descendants of the rebels from the Eenlin Civil War, the Aerians are a technologically advanced race that lives on the floating island of Aeolus, kept afloat thousands of feet off the ground by powerful steam engines and machines. They are a smaller branch of humans, usually growing only from 5’3”-5’7”. They have adapted to the thinner air the high altitude, but tend to be thinner themselves. Asthma is incredibly common among Aerians, which is why Inhalers are a mandatory requirement. Strenuous physical activity can send them into hyperventilation, due to their decreased levels of oxygen and red blood cells. Most Aerians are smaller and skinny, living to about 60 years old. They seem to reject religion in place of Atheism, and have a reputation for their hatred of magic. Though this is true for some demographics of Aeolus Isle, most have learned to co-exist with their fellow magical beings. This race is widely known for being the first to create steam powered engines, flintlock guns and muskets, radio communication, electricity, but most importantly: The Airship. The Aerian education system favours science and literacy above all else, and to some only seem to think in terms of logic and pragmatism.

The Aeolus Isle

Image

The large island in the sky, north of Tineburgh/Kendenn and directly upward. This large city is known for its technological advancements and military strength. It is composed of mostly Aerian and a slightly smaller minority of humans. Since the treaty had been passed decades ago, it has a slowly growing population of Elementals as well (mostly air-type), but doesn’t have the best history of respect for them. The island was said to have been created after the Aerians wanted to break away from the Elemental kingdom to create their own. Years were spent gathering the technology and steam power required to do such a wild thing, and at the height of war, the ground split and the island ascended into the heavens, where it has remained ever since. Breathing aids are given to those visiting for the first time.

Tineburgh

The Capitol of Temaria and believed to have the most diversity. Through it’s largeness and claim that nobody would ever be turned away from a hospitable home, the unemployment and often homelessness in the slums of the large city is undeniable. Covered up, but undeniable. The city is 38% human, 31% Aerian and 31% Elemental. It is the capitol trading city for goods and services, and was established after the Eenlin Civil War. It also has a reputation for it’s illegal gambling halls at the back of many bars and run-down departments.
Note on the slums of Tineburgh: Gangs and thugs are incredibly prevalent here.

Illmori

Above Ground:

Image

Underground:

Image

A large city that sits partially above ground and partially underground. Beneath it’s initial large, expansive and frankly beautiful architecture of marble and stone walls lays a set of sometimes romantically and sometimes brightly lit caverns filled with secret ponds, rivers and interesting wildlife. This is the main Elemental city, and it is visited often for its beauty and rich culture. It has of course, a large number of Elementals, a smaller minority of humans, and little Aerians. Most of it’s lights and elegant aspects are created/sustained with magic, much to the contempt of the Aeolus Empire.

Religion:

Main Goddess – Ylena, Mother of The Earth and her Elements.

God of the Skies - Ualdir

Goddess of Law and Justice - Ivtris

God of Knowledge and Legends - Abados

Goddess of War - Oselia

God of Wealth and Medicine – Eione

God of Deviants – Deisii the genderless god.

God of Love, Family, and Relations -Aluis

Goddess of The Arts and Architecture – Erva

Goddess of Sleep, Dreams, and Death – Aisling

Afterlife: It is said in the Elemental culture that when you die, you wander the dream world with the goddess Aisling forevermore, to shape it as you see fit if you have been worthy of this life. The scripture states that humans were given their magic by the gods to protect themselves and the world from the harsh creatures created by Deisii, and was to be a blessing and a sign of love from Ylena. β€œAfter Divine Intervention” refers to this legend, as it was believed that during the thousands of years before that, the world was divided in chaos and death, but united after being given this gift.
(It was also united because everyone didn’t have to fight for their life and could actually learn to read and write, and learn a common language.)

Image
A Timeline:

ADI: After Divine Intervention

The Arcana Aeon: 502 ADI – 581 ADI
This was an age about a century or so ago where Elementals mostly ruled over the kingdoms due to their superior magical abilities. Humans were a smaller sub race that lived among them. In some cultures they were treated fairly, but in the eastern countries humans of frail size or without magical ability could often only find work in Illmori or the former (very large) capitol city of Eenlin as servants or labourers. Elemental history books will state that they were paid labourers, whereas Aerian history books state that they were slaves.

The Age of Rebellion: 582 – 583 ADI
Mistreated humans were tired of being seen as lower than the Elementals, and revolted after a peaceful protest of class differences was disrupted by a fistfight and crude words from their magical kin. Soon after began to the Eenlin Riots, which were violent protests that lead to civil war.

The Eenlin Civil War: 583 – 587 ADI
The civil war lead to many, many casualties of mostly humans. This was when the developments of technology truly began within the human race. Dynamite and muskets were created for war, as well as an incendiary weapon known as Alchemist’s Fire which-- since it was not natural fire-- could not be manipulated by Fire Elementalists. The humans were able to take Eenlin for themselves, and began expanding on other colonies, the most prominent and famous being Tineburgh.

The Age of False Peace: 587 – 634 ADI
This term is used loosely, as the tension between Illmori and Eenlin was running excruciatingly high. Border scuffles were often, discrimination was incredibly prominent in both cities, and hate-crimes were frequent.

The Mechanical War: 634 – 639 ADI
Eventually, the humans of Eenlin began a war with the Elementals of Illmori after an important member of their Senate was found dead just outside the β€˜enemy’ streets. The Elementals argued that they would not break the peace in such a violent act, but the war erupted nonetheless with a push and shove from the Eenlin council. The Elementals began badly losing due to their refusal to fight with anything beyond blades and their own magic. Many who did not want a part in the war fled to Tineburgh as refugees, where they were accepted and taken in by hospitable families and homes. (This also lead to Elemental and Human couples, who produced offspring with a magical side).

The Creation of Aeolus Island: 639 ADI
The humans of Eenlin had been working on a way to separate themselves entirely from the Elementals and continue the war from the skies. In 639 ADI, the Elemental military leader and priest Zephros writes:

β€œAnd before me unfolded an image of great magnitude. The ground began to shake and split as if the gods themselves were tearing it by its roots, slowly lifting it from the ground with great and mighty rumbles that no Earth Elementalist could ever equal. It ascended to the heavens, leaving the echoes of the whirring machines in its wake. Moments after, explosions littered the battlefield, the soldiers flew into the air and returned to the ground as lifeless as ragdolls. I fear we will not win this war.”

The humans of the former Elemental capitol renamed themselves the β€˜Aerians’, and the capitol became the Aeolus Island.

The Concord Treaty- 639 ADI
The humans and Elementals of Tineburgh had seen the effects of the bombs, deciding that the war had to end. The humans went to reason with the Aerians, whereas the Elementals went to tend to their own injured kind. Several representatives from both sides were called in for negotiations, and there was a large debate, neither side wanted to back down for the insult done to them, but eventually Jamie Cartwright, councilwoman of Tineburgh broke through the arguing with her famous quote: β€œOur cultures and cities will be swept away in this war like ants in a flood, if these people are to act like children, I will treat them as such.”
The books say that she had sent out letters to the guards after blocking the exits with the forces that had been brought with her, and she had simply refused to let anyone leave until they came to a proper understanding. A month later, this became the official document known as the Concord Treaty, which states that in the country of Temaria, all are equal, no wars will be wrought. Peace, acceptance of culture, and a unity will be maintained.

Piper gritted her teeth, using all of her willpower not to kick Axel in the head for being such a sadist. Simply holding him down was one thing, but basically straddling and threatening to eat him was another.

Not to mention, it inhibited her ability to search the man.

Though once she found the large sum of money, her eyes widened considerably. It wasn't a lot of money to her, but given their situation she knew it could definitely keep them fed. Even more so, she wanted Simon on her side.

But there was once again, the issue of morality, and another small thing that ate at the pit of her stomach.

Instead of taking the whole thing, she grabbed a fistful of the paper and a couple coins (in or around half of the entire sum), and stuffed the bag back into his coat. "If we play our cards right, this should keep us fed for a couple of weeks. We can't afford to make bad enemies right now, especially not when they've had a clear look at our faces and clothes." She explained, deciding that it required the explanation as she began transferring the money into her beaten up wallet.

Axel growled his head flaring in flames as anger ripped through his body as the man dared fight back. He gave a hard shove on the man down but to no avail as he kept on fighting and buckling inside of his grasp. Axel raised one fist up and brought it down hard on the mans nose with all the force he could muster from this position. And then another punch to the side of his head for good luck.

Axel turned back a frenzied glare in his eyes. "Just give me the bloody word and I'll end his life! No more struggle!" he said coldly as he gave the frenzied mans arms another hard press to the ground.

As Axel slams his fist into the man's nose and head, the man shouts out loudly in pain. Blood gushes from his now battered nose and onto his face. The man's resistance stops after the hits, not wanting to provoke Axel into acting upon any of his threats. Plus, the man seemed to relax at having atleast half of his money back, giving Piper a half-smile through the blood running down his face.

Simon's nostrils flare, glaring at Piper as she splits the money up and returns it to the man. Can't afford to make enemies? They wouldn't be able to afford anything for long if they didn't take more. Simon tossed the gun to the side, clenching his hands into fists as he approaches the man on the ground himself. He reaches into the jacket and angrily snatches up the rest of the money, turning back to Piper, his eyes furious.

"We didn't force a man into an alleyway and rob him at gunpoint to let him off easy. You want to survive in this city? You need a reputation, and this is how we get it," Simon spits, turning back to the man, who watches the scene with worry, "I'm Simon Redcaster, and don't you ever forget it."

With that, Simon punches the man in the nose himself, completely breaking the nose if it wasn't broken before. The man's head snaps back with the punch, hitting the ground and knocking himself unconscious. Simon stands, his knuckles coated with the man's blood from his nose as he clutches the wad of money.

Piper had wiped off a bit of Simon's spit off her cheek, very nearly hitting Simon herself. All in good time, she thought to herself, maybe when he doesn't have a thirst for violence and a gun in his hand.

She watched the two boys beat the guy unconscious, rubbing her forehead all the while and deciding then and there to keep her half of the cash and damn well regulate their spending. This was careless. They'd let themselves be clearly seen and Simon had even said his full name out loud. Sure, he was some orphan sewer rat probably from the slums of Tineburgh, but that doesn't mean there wasn't some kind of record out there with his name on it, right?

"We didn't force a man into an alleyway and rob him at gunpoint to give him a full view of our faces and outright state our identities." She'd hissed out through gritted teeth once they'd finished. "Let's get out of here before more people find us."

Axel listened to them bicker in the back, agitation growing in his heart. Though the more he watched the crimson blood spill from the mans nose, the more powerful he had felt. He felt the frenzied side of him begin to take over as he slowly grew oblivious as to what was going on in the back. He watched every drip of blood come as the man laid powerless beneath him, defeated. He felt no pity for the man, no remorse, a small smile crept on to his lips as he reached a finger to dip into the thick blood that was flowing from his nose down to his mouth.

He wanted nothing more then to dominate his prey, his enemies. He didn't care about the money they were fighting over, or the bread even anymore, he wanted more blood. Just as he raised his fist once more, the flames on his head intensifying in color. Simon did what he had intended to do, punching the man hard in the bridge of his nose to where a satisfying snap was heard.Yes, he thought to himself as he turned his head slowly over to Simon, Aerian or Human. The boy had gained a little more respect from the frenzied elemental.

Axel studied Simon for a moment, ignoring what Piper was saying in the back of his ear, before he gave a short laugh through his nose. Shaking his head he spoke, "Perhaps you have a little more fire in you then I thought, Redcaster.". Axel then slowly shifted his gaze to Piper, the wild look still remaining in his eyes as he simple stared at her for a while before speaking, the fire on his head dying down. "My only regret is that I wasn't able to make this man know my name before he was put to sleep." Axel clenched his jaw, lifting up the finger that was dipped in the blood to his eyes to which he glared at intently as if it was an amusing dog. "That's okay.. My name, know, they will..." He said, though he scrunched up his nose as it left his mouth. "Er.. That didn't come out as menacing as I had hoped.. Pretend I simply said they will know my name." And with that Axel gave a curt nod, rubbing the mans blood in two parallel lines on his forehead. The symbol for victory, and the embodiment of dominance.

He looked to the sky another smile returning to his face as he raised the bloodied finger to the air. "Thank you Oselia for giving us such a weak man to prey on.. I pray that the challenges we face ahead are more exciting then this one, and that they may give me a chance to prove to you my Jaah'Mun'Rah." And with his small prayer he returned his gaze to Piper. "Get out of here and go where exactly? Don't you Aerians live in boxes? I wouldn't suppose you have another one handy?"

Simon pinched the bridge of his nose, taking deep breaths to calm himself down. He, admittedly, lost his cool a bit at Piper giving some of the money back. He probably didn't have to knock the guy out, but he had to admit there was a small thrill in smashing his fist into the man's face. Simon tucked the money into his pocket before wiping off the back of his hand, smearing the man's blood onto the thigh of his pants.

"Okay, yeah, we need to go. There's a shitload of abandoned buildings in Lower Tineburgh. I've been squatting in an abandoned warehouse... I guess we can head there," Simon sighs, walking to the entrance of the alleyway before looking back. He was momentarily caught off guard at the sight of Axel smearing blood onto his forehead and pointing at the sky, but honestly at this point he's just glad the Elemental isn't trying to eat the unconscious man's flesh.

"...Someone pick up the gun," Simon tilts his head in the direction of where he had tossed the gun, "And Axel... stop... playing cultist, or whatever it is you're doing. We're leaving."

Simon lets out one last sigh before stepping back into the streets and walking off and towards the Warehouse he had mentioned, expecting the others to follow. He wasn't too thrilled at inviting two guests, but he didn't want these two running around a city they don't know causing trouble, especially when they might somehow lead it to him. He'd much rather keep them where he could see them until they leave the city. Plus, it had been quite awhile since Simon had interacted with anyone close to his age. The idea of it thrilled him a little, despite him convincing himself otherwise.

"Your gods didn't give you anything to prey on, you goddamn animal." She rolled her eyes in disdain, before frustration flared up inside her again at his comment. She had bent to swipe up the gun, feeling comfort against two blood-crazed boys with a weapon in her hands. "We live in houses, but I don't suppose you'd know much about that. Don't the people of Illmori just live in a giant hole in the ground?" She spat before going to follow after Simon. She was perfectly aware of the ancient and sacred architecture of the Elementals, building half of their city under the ground in a grand cavern. More than wanting to stay level-headed, however, she wanted to lash out. She wanted at least something that could get under his skin the way he was getting under hers.

Besides, his whole religious shtick was getting on her nerves.

Axel flared in anger as they walked, having no interest in picking up the gun as he had no real idea how to work it. He followed in tow behind them, snarling as Piper made her comment back. "At least we aren't breast fed by machines you.. you.. You filthy Aerian!" He growled losing track of some fierce insult to come back at her with. Axel simply remained with a pout on his face and his arms folded as he followed them, trying to think of a comeback to really get under her skin.

As they walked Axel thought about where exactly he was headed. They had successfully worked together to steal money as well as food. And they were going to the warehouse Simon had been staying at, but what was next for them. Where they some sort of group now? Certainly not.. He still hated both of them with a burning passion, hell, he still had suspicions that Simon was leading them to trap so he could take everything for himself. Though in his mind he enjoyed the idea of accompanying the other two. They could get a whole lot done together then Axel could do on his own.

Suddenly Axel would look up to the sky silently asking for forgiveness for the foolish thoughts that were swelling in his mind. But he couldn't help it, he did have a point.

Simon enjoyed the walk in silence, heading through town till they came to the Warehouse. It was, as the name suggests, an old and abandoned warehouse, previously used to hold shipments from the nearby docks. However, due to both many safety hazards of the old building and most business surrounding shipping moving to the Upper Tineburgh, this warehouse was now Simon's main residence. The windows had all been boarded up for the most part, aside from some of the higher ones. He gave a small smile as they approached the building, looking over his shoulder at the other two to speak.

"We have to go in through a door in the back, follow me," He says, nodding his head in a direction before picking up the speed and jogging around the building. He leads them to a dingy door in the back, swinging it open and stepping inside.

The inside of the Warehouse was dark, as at this point the sun had vanished below the horizon and the moon was rising. Simon felt around the wall for the light switch, finally finding it and flipping it on. Overhead, the electrical lights buzzed as those that still worked switched on. Simon snatched a matchbook from a nearby table and struck it, moving around the warehouse and lighting candles he had set up around the place, doing it all like a ritual, as he had done this every night since coming to this city. Once he was done, the Warehouse was illuminated in a half-artificial light and half-warm glow of candles. Simon finally threw the match to the ground and snuffed it out under his heel, letting out a huff and turning back to the others.

"Well, its not like there's any furniture around here, so we're going to have to sit and eat on the floor."

"Machines aren't capable of breast feeding, you... hole-dweller." She hissed out in return, unable to come out with a good response after that whole ordeal. She followed after Simon with the flintlock in her hand, keeping watch on the people around her to look for anyone who seemed even slightly suspicious or aggressive.

She'd wrinkled her nose at the sight of the warehouse. It was large and dusty, full of cobwebs at the corners no doubt. A bit of her shuddered at the thought of how many of those nasty little arachnids could be skittering across the floor at any time.

Though at the very least, the lighting was nice. Homely, even.

"You might want to clean the blood off yourselves before eating." She suggested, side-eyeing Axel. "Unless the cannibal wants to use it as a sauce."

Axel took in every detail of the warehouse, folding his arms as it drew nearer. It was shotty, though what more could you expect from an abandoned warehouse. It was large though, he just hoped those large areas didn't have chunks of caved in roof all over the place.

He followed them around stepping in, watching as Simon lit each candle like a daily routine. For a person that was living in a dump, he seemed oddly happy. Though Alex had to admit, for some strange reason this abandoned warehouse still felt kind of homely. And it was in no way shape or form his home.

"This place will do Redcaster." He said as he plopped down to the floor rubbing his stomach in circles as he looked up and over to the talking Aerian. She called him a cannibal, and as quickly as the words left her mouth Axel fired back a response, though too quick for his slow brain to process what he was actually saying. "Perhaps I should use your spit as sauce Aerian!" He growled, though frowned and looked off to the side as it caught up to him. "Ignore that, your blood sounds bett- Just give me a piece!" He said eyeing her with a scowl. Yet overall he seemed a lot more relaxed, even despite the blood crazed rampage he had almost went on. Axel then turned to Simon "How long have you been in here for Redcaster?"

"Not too long, a little over a week, maybe," Simon replied, striding over to the others and sitting down himself, "And for fuck's sake, would you two stop the bickering? I'd rather not have this place burn down around me if Fire-boy over here gets himself too worked up."

Simon shook his head, looking rather fed up with these two. So what if their people hated each other? That shouldn't mean they have to, and it definitely doesn't mean Simon has to listen to it. Plus, what he said about the warehouse was true. If Axel felt provoked and wanted to use his fire to win an argument, they'd likely be buried under the burning ruins of this building. Either way, he hoped these two would just get over it.

"And Goggles, I'm not going to clean anything off of myself, unless you happen to know where some clean water is around here," Simon replied sarcastically, then holding up his hand to show off the back of it, which only had a small amount of dried blood left, "And besides, I wiped most of it off. I'd count this as pretty clean, so just hand over the bread."

She'd become used to insults. Being referred to as her race and nothing else should have made her a lot angrier, being threatened should have made her more jittery, but all she could really manage was a small chuckle. They had just pulled off an armed robbery, they'd gotten food for themselves. She couldn't really muster her ability to hate.

She sat down carefully, taking another good look around the warehouse. It wasn't... too bad, a little shoddy here and there... but some furniture could help.

"That works." She replied in response to Simon, splitting the bread into three sections and handing one to each of them while biting back an urge to make further snappy remarks. However, she found herself reminding the boy again to stop calling her 'Goggles' before taking a large bite of her (freshly baked) third of the bread.

As Axel was provided with his piece of the bread he dropped his back down to the dirty floor laying his head back seeming as comfortable as ever. He closed his eyes and began chomping on the bread, his mouth wide open as his jaw worked with the delicious bread. There was a happiness to him, a peace that he got with good food as he seemingly devoured the whole piece in a short amount of time.

After Axel finished his piece of bread he simply laid there with his eyes closed, tapping his stomach and lapping his tongue together as if he was still chewing on the bread. He rolled over to his side, laying his head on his bicep as he spoke up. "Just so both of you know.. I still have no trust for either of you and hope you both burn in what is preferably my own flames... But, good work." and with that and a sniff from his nose Axel set out to try and sleep on the dirty floor, a calm smoke drifting from his head.

"Yeah, we did good," Simon says between bites of bread, eating his slower to appreciate it, "Who knew the guy was going to be loaded like that?"

Simon chuckled, finishing off his bread and laying himself on the ground as well. He folds his hands behind his head, looking up at the roof of the warehouse. His day definitely was a weird one, and he hasn't been able to decide whether he'd consider it his first good day since coming to Tineburgh or yet another bad one. Considering he just finished eating some fresh bread, it seemed to be leaning towards a good day.

"You should probably get some rest too, Goggles," Simon says, tilting his head forward a bit to look at her, "I don't know what you two are planning on doing now that you're here in the city, but you won't get far if you're dead tired."

Once he says that, he lays his head back down and closes his eyes, trying to get some sleep himself.

"... Good work to you too, hothead." She replied passively as she decided to take Simon's advice and rest as well, using her jacket as a pillow.

Ah, if only her parents could see her now. Less than a day after leaving home and she was already a criminal and possible fugitive depending on how long they bothered caring about a missing child.

It's not too late to go home, she thought to herself, live a calm and predictable life and be rid of all this. I could easily just blame the whole thing on these two and say I wasn't involved, couldn't I? It's not as though the man knows anything about me aside from my face.

...

But she couldn't do that, could she. Instead, Piper allowed her paranoid thoughts of what was to come and what could have been put her to sleep.

The trio drifts into a quiet and peaceful sleep, the chirping of distant crickets and a soft drizzle filling the night. All at once, however, the quiet of the night inside the warehouse was shattered by a piercing gunshot, coming only feet away from the kids. It was followed by the shattering of a window, likely where the gun was shot at. Before they had any time to wake up and react to anything, all three of the kids were harshly kicked in the chest while they were down.

Once they were battered awake, the three of them would look around to see themselves surrounded. At least a dozen or so people had formed a circle around them, all brandishing a variety of weapons. Only a few had guns, the others all equipped with knives, crowbars, or even walking canes. They all dressed similarly as well, wearing mostly shades of gray and black, except for a single splash of an annoyingly vibrant yellow. The way they showed this yellow varied from person to person, either in the form of an undershirt, a bandanna tied around their neck, or just a scrap of cloth sticking out of one of their pockets. While they weren't currently rushing to attack, they were clearly prepared to pounce at a moment's notice.

"Make room, everyone. I want a good look at these saps when I'm talkin' to them!" A voice sung out, the circle of men parting slightly to reveal a woman with a wide grin, almost a snarl.

It was clear that this woman was the one who shot the window, the smoking gun still in her hand. She dressed like the others, wearing shades of black. She wore her yellow through simple silk gloves on her hands. She holsters her gun at her hip before stepping into the circle, her vicious grin beaming down at the kids.

"You three are really in the soup now, huh? Do any of you know who I am?" She asked, her eyes darting between them, waiting for an answer.

Piper had been awoken by the gunfire, screeching in fear and immediately grabbing for the flintlock at her side. Her green eyes were wide with panic as she took notice of the large amount of heavily armed thugs standing around them, clearly not there to gently wake them up for another wonderful day in Tineburgh.

She pointed her unloaded and nearly useless pistol at the grinning woman with shaking arms and locked elbows. She'd given a stare to the two boys, whispering harshly under her breath. "Don't try anything, please."

"Do any of you know who I am?" the woman had asked.

It had taken nearly half a minute for her to muster the courage to even speak.

"N... No... Ma'am..."

Axel slept graciously through the gun shot, rolling in his sleep as he continued to snore with his head flaring in a small burst of flames every time he exhaled. It wasn't until he received a hard boot jammed into his rib cage that he reacted, bouncing up to his butt in a flash of flames to see Piper, Simon and himself surrounded by a bunch of people all with a flash of yellow somewhere on their body. It took Axel's mind a moment to register what was going, well actually, Axel's mind never really registered what was going on. The only word that sat in his head as he looked around at all of these armed people was, bad.

Axel studied the woman who emerged through the circle, she too was carrying a boom stick, and by the sounds of her annoying voice she was probably the head of the operation. Axel furrowed his brow and glared at her, this bitch had rudely awoken him from his slumber and she would pay for it. Though Axel was dumb and reckless, he knew trying to wrap his arms around her throat and choking her until she bled out of her eyes was a bit impossible with all surrounding him.

"You three are really in the soup now, huh? Do any of you know who I am?" She spoke as Axel scoffed, looking to the side as Piper moused out her words. Suddenly a ding went off in Axel's head as he glared defiantly at her and said "Is ugly and option?" in response. This corny comeback single-handedly became the highlight of his day as he sat there with an air of victory about him. Though it was short lived as he received a hard kick to his spinal cord, sending his body sprawling forward. Axel whipped his head back viciously ready to tear the head off of whoever had just touched him, though the rest of them staring him down kept him angrily in his seat.

Axel sat there with an angry face and his arms folded, shifting his wild eyes between the bitch in the middle and all her little henchmen, the million ways he wanted to kill them all flitting through his head. Though he could do nothing but sit there and remain silent until she would flap her fat lips again to tell them just who the hell she was.

Simon was jolted awake from the gunshot, only to immediately be greeted by the kick. He rolled over onto his side, holding his chest and groaning. He looked over at the other two, then following their line of sight to the leader, who just grinned widely at it all. Simon moved slightly closer to Piper, his voice low.

"Put your stupid gun down... you don't have enough bullets for all of them, but they have more than enough for us..."

The woman's energetic smile widened even more at Axel's snide remark, a soft chuckle coming as he was kicked forward. She watched the entire scene before her (Axel practically frothing at the mouth, Piper aiming her pathetic gun at them, and Simon writhing in his own pain) with intense interest. Finally, she rested her eyes on Piper, the only one to have actually given a straight answer to her question. She took a small step closer to Piper, squatting a bit to look closer at her, seeming unconcerned that she was also bringing her head directly in front of the barrel of Piper's gun by doing this.

"You all really aren't from around here, huh?" She asked, though she starts talking again before anyone could have time to answer, "Tineburgh is a city ran by gangs, darling. Three gangs in particular call the shots around here, and one of those gangs just so happens to be us, the Theater Wasps."

At the mention of the name "Theater Wasps", all the thugs surrounding them hollered and cheered, obviously proud of who they are. They continued to cheer till the woman raised a single, gloved hand, silencing them.

"I am Valorie Morsus, leader of the Wasps," She smiled, smoothly transitioning her hand from a raised position of dominance into an extended handshake towards Piper, "How about yourself, girl?"

Piper bit back the urge to laugh at their gang name. The Theatre Wasps? That sounded... silly... she felt a bit taken aback, but looked to the other two before replying.

"P... Piper..." She breathed, lowering her gun and setting it on the ground in front of her. I'm going to die, aren't I? This is it. I'm going to be beaten and shot to death. "Er... no title..." she added, trying to hold back the voice crack that threatened her tone as she put out a trembling hand to return the handshake, albeit weakly.

Axel had to dig his fingernails deep into his leg to resist from pouncing on the bitch who got dangerously close to them. The Theatre Wasps they called themselves. Axel felt even angrier at the thought that their name was so well thought out. Theatre wasps, thats why they all have a flash of yellow, just like a wasp. Damn their intelligence. Axel wanted to shout another insult back at them so bad that a low growl emitted from within his throat.

Axel shot a glare to Piper as she spoke her name to the enemy as well as shook hands with her, it caused him to give yet another low growl though he realized the Aerian didn't have much of a choice. Axel then spoke out in hopes it would stop Piper from speaking anymore words to the enemy. "You say there are three gangs that run Tineburgh huh?" He asked pointing to her, that defiant look back on his face "Well there is about to be four." he said firmly lifting his chin up just a bit. He was talking out of his ass, but he wanted to feel just a little bit powerless in front of this woman. "Scratch that.. There's about to be one, and it's us!" He shout standing to his feet with hopes he wouldn't get another boot to the spinal cord. I guess he half expected everyone to take up arms and start cheering like they did at the name Theatre wasps, but instead all he received was some laughs.

Val's eyes widened at Axel's claims of not only forming a gang worthy of becoming one of the Top Dogs, but even overthrowing them. Her hand tightens around Piper's, a clear rage hidden behind her smiling expression. In one swift movement, Val yanks roughly on Piper's arm to pull her up to her feet. Once they got to their feet, Val would spin Piper around and wrap her arm around the girl's neck, putting her into a choke hold as she faces Simon and Axel.

"Now you're all going to listen to me very, very closely, alright?" She shouts out, her wild eyes darting between the two boys, tightening her grip around Piper's throat so that, while she could still breath, it would become difficult, "I want my god damn money, and I want it now. No negotiations."

Simon scrambles to his feet, holding his hands out in a calming manner, like you would to a wild animal. He glances between Axel and Val, unsure where to go from here. He wasn't particularly fond of Piper, but he sure as hell didn't want nightmares about watching the girl be murdered in front of him. Plus, living in this place would really be uncomfortable knowing someone died in here. He instead looks back at Axel, mouthing the words 'What do we do?' to him, hoping that for once the Elemental would have a great plan, because Simon had nothing.

Piper cursed, losing her fearful expression to make way for one of rage. Money?! Goddamnit, the man they'd robbed had a yellow 'kerchief in his back pocket. They'd robbed a member of some big gang and they were the ones who had taken the rest of the money from him.

She began to swear in long strings, struggling against the woman's grasp as she turned her fury onto the two boys. "You fucking idiots!" she spat at them, "I told you not to take all of that money! I told you we shouldn't make enemies too early on! GIVE THEM THE DAMN MONEY!"

She didn't care if she had to go the week stealing stale bread and tin cans of soup, she was not going to die in some warehouse because these two idiots had roughed up a member of some top dog gang.

"Will you listen to me this time and just hand over the money so we don't die?"

Axel felt a wave of victory wash over him as he saw the anger flash in her eyes, and then again it was short lived when she swiped Piper up into a choke hold so fast that Axel didn't even get to blink yet. Axel reached out a hand as if that could stop this from happening, and then once more, he was powerless. Oddly, he wouldn't have given a damn if this woman snapped Pipers neck, though he would never admit it he felt slightly protective over the filthy Aerian.

Axel glanced to Simon with hopes that he had another clever plan, though was disappointed when the boy looked back at him with the same lost face. Axel had to think quick, and that surely wasn't his best skill. Suddenly Axel gripped his head as Piper shouted at the two boys to give the money back. He quickly lashed out at her "IT'S GONE! The money is gone... I didn't want to tell you two yet because us Elementals are not prone to failure." Axel said glancing down, doing his best to put on a show making himself look as ashamed as possible. "When you gave me the money to go buy more bread.. The bastards in red.. They over powered me, there was more of them then I, and they wanted everything." Axel shook his head hoping to all the gods in the sky that one of the gangs that ruled Tineburgh was dressed in red. And that this story was believable enough to get this wasp off. "That's the real reason we only had this one loaf tonight.."

Axel then folded his arms and glared at the wasp that was choking piper, hoping that she would bite on this story and only hoping to add more to it to get her away. "There you have it wasp.. Your money is gone.. And it's not like the wasps are powerful enough to take it back from whoever those red clad men were.. That's why you're here in an abandoned warehouse sticking up a bunch of kids for it." Axel said plopping down to his butt as if in defeat, still silently praying to himself that this lie would work, and that there were men in red, and that they would take him calling them stronger as a means to jump back in to their rivalry with them. "Do what you want with us, while the reds go spend your money." He said with a sigh.
